pep talk/reassurance/maybe someone... anyone... needs to see this:
The someone that needs to see this on a regular basis is me. But maybe you do too.
Art of any kind - whether it be painting, drawing, writing, acting, making music, filmmaking etc - is supposed to be fun. Power to you if you're able to make money from your craft, but at the end of the day, art is expression. It's an extension of your body and soul. We create because it's our passion. We create to release the feelings we don't know how to put into words (yes I realise this is ironic if you're any kind of writer). We create because - first and foremost - we WANT to. We need to. If I was unable to write I think I may just implode. If I was unable to create whole universes from the deepest crevices of my mind, I think I will have lost my whole reason for being.
Create for YOURSELF first. Create for others last.
It's always great when others enjoy your work too. But you should enjoy it first. You should enjoy the process AND the fruit.

little life update (16/07/2024)
finally started reading 'A Little Life' again - I already know how much it's going to hurt me but hey ho. It's part of my research reading for the Lit Fic novella I'm working on and it's been on my TBR for a while.
had so much fun drafting potential cover ideas for the novella mentioned above - I'm probably going to self-publish it sometime next May for Mental Health Awareness Month (UK).
I'm still really excited to be starting my Creative Writing MLitt in September and I'm quite literally counting down the days.
'Lover of Chaos & Sin' is currently on hold, along with Project Homebrew as I really want to focus on 'Shades of Blue' - I feel like it's a story some people might need to hear more (I know it's a story I would have benefited from years ago).
I've never written a stage play before, but I've been having fun experimenting and working on the idea I had - I'm hoping I might be able to submit it to some small local theatres and drama groups for possible performance which would be cool.

'Land of Opportunity'
is a stage-play that I've had in my mind since I was 16 (that's 10 years now and jeez I feel old). It started as an idea for a short play and I was happy with that, spending little time occasionally brainstorming and working on the script while I work on my main novel projects.
But recently, I've been deep in the musical wormhole. And the more I found ways to connect the stories I've watched to my own, the more that idea started to develop...what if I made it a musical? I can't write music but I love listening to it. And I love combining music with characters.
So...now...I've decided to make 'Land of Opportunity' - a tale about three struggling artists of varying mediums trying to make it big - a musical...It's gonna be a long and wild ride, but I'm here for all of it!

Quick little writing update because I've not posted since I started this blog even thought I've been meaning to:
I've been trying to be more active on tiktok which has been going well. I post a lot of writing stuff on there (link in pinned)
My main project - Lover of Chaos & Sin - has now reached 10k words! I've been on a roll sticking to my daily word goal so hopefully the momentum sticks!
I started planning a new smaller wip (LOCAS can get quite heavy with all the violence and angst so I needed something to work on when I needed a break from that). It's a cosy sapphic romantasy novella that I hope to finish this year and then self publish! The name is yet to be decided but I'm thinking maybe 'Happiness Starts with a Homebrew' because the MC is a witch with a proficiency in alchemy and potion crafting.
I think that's everything for now!

Musicals I have watched today in my feral state induced obsession:
The Prom (2020) on Netflix
Tick, Tick...Boom (2021) on Netflix
