Jayce and Jinx have some very interesting parallels in character. They're both incredibly smart and work with Hextech, they both have a complicated relationship with their primary parent, they both attempt suicide in the exact same way, they both rely on weapons in combat because they're not good at hand to hand combat, they both have issues with people not supporting them..."i was saving you" vs "Viktor, it saved you!" They both "only want to help" but their actions have disastrous consequences.

if i could make any one change to arcane s2 it would be this scene

not because it's a horrible scene, i'm a big fan of the whole jayce murdering children thing, but because i think it should've been jinx!

hear me out. jayce just got out of the anomaly and is absolutely reeling, barely able to walk and glitching out of reality so bad he has no clue what's real and what isn't. then, he sees jinx, who he's been having stress nightmares about since she kidnapped cait in season 1 and who is responsible for basically half of the tragedies in his life

so logically, when he sees jinx, he loads the hammer for a sec before thinking "wait. why tf would she be here? i'm prolly hallucinating."

so he walks away to go shoot his ex boyfriend or whatever. and jinx, who just got her life spared by a guy who should have every reason imaginable to kill her, takes this whole encounter like an epiphany and realizes that even if the guy she's so very thoroughly traumatized can forgive her, then maybe she really does deserve to try and live despite her mistakes. then she doesn't kill herself in the end

meanwhile jayce 100% would've shot her if he knew she was real

Another thing that I noticed in arcane is that both jinx and jayce are so willing to die for the right thing at the end.

I know Jinx is not dead, but she kinda tried when she took the gem out of vi's weapon. She willingly cut herself from her sisters life, which is painful but maybe the right thing that she did at the end.

And the whole thing with destroying hexcore together for jayce. He didn't hesitate for a single moment even though he could get back ( I think, I'm not sure)

For me, it's kinda sad that they had so much potential, yet they had to die( or fake dying) to save the world and their loved ones.

And yes, I know other characters died too for this cause. But I said these two because it kinda looks like a parallel

I WANTED THEM TO BE FRIENDS SO BAD.

Viktor is staring in the backgrpund thinking if he should join them or stop them.

Ekko is freaking out due to the possibility of the building of a nuclear bomb is eminent

Thinking about Jayce’s parallels with Powder. The fact they both strive to help people at their core, but end up falling short each time they try.

Powder's failures and fears are much more intense; physical, but Jayce's are ideological, moral, ethical. It's a mental pressure cooker. 2 very different outcomes.

I wish Jayce and Jinx had a chance to talk. Jayce is willing to face insane political backlash for making Zaun independent, all for this one girl. This one traumatized girl who lost everything. What would he do if he knew that the elusive terrorist he was chasing was a deeply manipulated and traumatized teenager?

They haunt each other’s narratives without even knowing. I swear to god. Powder found Jayce’s hex crystals, which killed her family. Jinx bombed the council room which killed Viktor. She robbed the lab and ruined progress day, and Jayce inadvertently took away the only family she had left by killing Viktor in the commune.

They are so similar and they never ONCE interact

They're so interesting to me because they mirror each other a lot. They both struggle with self doubt and the feeling of not being enough. They both want to be useful and helpful but the consequences of their actions are devastating. An interaction between these two would be so interesting but also, imo, very unlikely. Because if Jayce ever got into a fight with Jinx he would just straight up die lol. Jayce is the worst fighter we see in the show imo. He has never won a single fight on his own. He can barely hold it together when fighting with combat only. He wouldn't stand a chance against Jinx's pistol.

What really compels me about these two is that they're so closely connected. Not only with the apartment and Hextech, but specifically with Silco. Jayce demanded that Jinx be turned in in exchange for the nation of zaun. This demand is what made Jinx turn on Silco. If they ever were to meet, would Jayce recognize Jinx as the girl Silco pushed back against turning in? Would the gears turn and would he realize why that was the case? Would Jinx look at Jayce and realize this is the man that threw the biggest wrench in Silco's plan? That this is the man that stopped Silco from getting what he wanted, all because of her? Let's take it even further back. Would Jinx realize Jayce is the apartment owner she stole from? Does she already know that? I'm very confident that Jayce has no idea how closely connected Jinx and Jayce are. He most likely has no idea that Jinx caused the explosion and stole from him. When I think about it this way, it kind of reminds me of the Jayce and Ekko interaction. Did Jayce recognize Ekko as that little boy from the shop all those years ago? Did ekko recognize Jayce as the man he followed home after he overpaid for a product?

Fucking dying over this one because they would cross each other's paths, realize who each other were and we'd be treated to a fucking three minute long chase across the city that would just end with Jayce flying at Jinx like-

I'm going to make a post about this later but I think it's really interesting how jinx and jayce are really the only characters that get character arcs in S2. I think it's interesting because they're both similar but also because their stories in season two work in opposite directions of each other and the stories that were told in s1
