So the Shah Rukh Khan film starts off with a bang, where his character saves a village from being plundered by a gang of ruthless murderers. Soon, the mood shifts, and viewers are taken 30 years into the…

Dinesh Kartik, a cricketer, took to X (previously Twitter) to express his feelings regarding Jawan. "SCALE and GRANDEUR," he wrote. I'm confident it will become the highest-grossing INDIAN film of all time! What an incredible effort by @Atlee_dir to bring @iamsrk in so many avatars, my favorite being Vikram Rathore, flair and charm unlike anything else seen from SRK!" "I remember when I started with KKR in 2018, and that's when Atlee started talks with SRK, and in fact he came for the CSK vs KKR match in Chennai," he continued. It took 5 long years, so many conversations, so many little screenplay modifications, and so much has happened in this period, and putting everything in perspective and bringing it out so nicely in a proper commercial fashion, and making every frame so much fun, filled with style and pizzazz was worth the wait!" "Kudos to @VenkyMysore sir, I'm soo happy for him," he continued. He has worked persistently in the background, and such a colossal hit is well earned. Congratulations to the entire Jawan team! @VijaySethuOffl and @NayantharaU You guys are pan-India heroes, and it's great to see you holding your own in every situation and demonstrating your abilities. @anirudhofficial Today's rockstar, and with each film, you're reaching new heights, brother. "The BGM was on fire." Shah Rukh Khan was pleased by his enthusiasm for the film and commented, "Wow DK, you are quite the film buff!!" I didn't get to see this side of you during your time at KKR. I'm glad you loved the film, and please send my love to Dipika!!! And if you have time, watch it again in a few weeks.... We'll always need you as a finisher!!" Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra, Mukesh Chhabra, Girija Oak Godbole, Aaliyah Qureishi, Ashlesha Thakur, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and Lehar Khan also appear in the film.
Jawan is a Red Chillies Entertainment production directed by Atlee and co-produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma. The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on September 7, 2023.

You know what I love about srk movie releases, people talking about him, how much they love him and how he has influenced their lives, sometimes in bits and sometimes in bigger bits.
And I remember watching his movies and then his interviews and just so utterly charmed by this man exactly my father's age. It was never love for him but just pure admiration and adoration that here's a man who speaks so well and is so witty and funny and oh so charming. Like I get it. How he has charmed an entire generation of women, men, children, just entire families even.
And it just feels so nice to see that he's still there, doing what he does, the good, the bad and the weird.
My love for movies started with Om Shanti Om and he'll thus always be a large part of my movie fangirling. Even with his bad projects, I'll find something to cherish, because that's how biased we can get. Also, you're excused just because of those charm offensive dimples. He really got the genes and personality. Like how is that fair to anyone else.

Honest Jawan review: As a die heart srk fan, this movie was none other than an emotion for me...the way the screenplay and story are written is very smart and clever ...bgm by Anirudh was a total vibe...from the emotional scenes to the mass fan service scenes ..it always slaps hard ...the cinematography and red chilies vfx ...is GODDAMNN! so good..it beautifies the whole movie ..i personally felt nothing bad about this movie ..but yeah Nayantara's character in the second half suddenly disappears... she had potential but it was wasted...her screen presence was great though...now if i talk about the actor's performances ...vijay sethupathi did a...very cool menacing role which was great ....other actors like Sanya Malhotra and Sunil Grover understood their assignment ...Deepika Padukone...gave such an energetic performance ...which was incredible...she literally spoke words with her eyes...and last but not the least ...a forever king SRK...he has played the massiest character ive ever seen ..his charm and performance...made me tear a bit...seeing how good is he....the vision and direction of Atlee...was straight clear and perfectly executed....overall a fun entertainer ...loved it <3333

Jawan: non-spoiler review
A more thoughtful review, now I've had a bit of time to think about it.
Shah Rukh Khan is the heart of the movie, so if you don't like his work, you probably won't like the movie.
Fortunately his performance is strong, and he easily carries it. The plot requires him to flex his range, which he does with confidence and charisma. He's rarely been in better form.
It might be billed as an Atlee film, but it's pretty obvious that this was SRK's dream project, and he put together his dream team to make it. I don't say that to dismiss what Atlee brings to the table, just that this project was clearly being driven by SRK's desire to tick off some of the things remaining on his bucket list. That pays off in a lot of ways, because SRK can afford the best, and that really shows on the screen.
SRK worked hard in Jawan to consolidate that he's an action star now, and he succeeded - I don't think anyone would argue it anymore. However, he didn't throw out all the old hooks. His scenes with Deepika Padukone are classic SRK, and so are the dance numbers. Zinda Banda in particular was a highlight. The song is an earworm, and the dance itself is both a spectacle given the number of dancers, and yet simple enough that even I could do it, with a bit of practice. The perfect crowdpleaser.
I don't want to spoil the biggest twist for you if you haven't seen the film yet, so I can't talk about my favourite aspect of SRK's performance in detail. I'll just say that for the last few years, he's been at his best when playing his real age, and that's true in Jawan as well.
There are good things other than SRK. Atlee's direction has all the kineticism of southern Indian cinema, and it's a spectacle that's a joy to watch on an aesthetic level. The soundtrack is fantastic. The special effects are world class.
I also like that this is mass entertainment that's not pretending to be anything else, but that it still touches on themes that are timely in India at the moment. I watched Raees just a few weeks ago, and there are obvious parallels. It's obvious that not everything along those lines comes from Atlee, even if the southern didacticism is on full display.
I do have one criticism. The plot was ambitious, and I give it points for that. I much prefer an ambitious plot that doesn't always work to a plot-by-numbers like Pathaan. However, Jawan's plotting sprawls all over the screen. That's sometimes a feature rather than a bug. It helped the film avoid some of the more obvious cliches. For example, I liked that the bad-guy's Evil Habit ended up not playing out in the way you'd expect. Anything that subverts a cliche is good with me. On the other hand, the plot was weaker than it needed to be. For instance, in a movie with so many women characters, I wanted more of them in the final act. There was still enough momentum to carry me to the end, but the ending was weaker than the rest of the film. Just a bit more cleverness in that final fight, tying it more effectively to the larger plot strands, would have made a big difference.
It was still a really great time, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I hope they do make a sequel. I would happily watch more of SRK in this 'verse.

And now I'm wondering if the fact that the original Jawan preview theme opens up with a trumpet fanfare is not one of the main reasons that I sunk my hooks into it before I even had any context for the plot.
Music is a powerful drug.

Should You Watch Kaala Paani?
In this series you won’t see overpowering action like Jawan or mythical epic narrations like Adipurush (A Failure) rather you will see humans on the edge of death trying to survive with their all. Life-and-demise situations slam into death and sickness in the once-perfect Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the class twisting, outwardly capturing Kaala Paani. The Netflix series, made by Sameer Saxena, addresses a large number of earnest topics and dovetails them into an overall story of a general population in the grasp of a lethal pandemic.

My ★★★½ review of Jawan on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/5f7GC1
The weirdest and best Robin Hood movie in years. I've got so much respect for something that tries this hard to entertain, but can't in good conscience rank it any higher. At 160 mins it's an exhausting watch, with fights, dancing, and hot people whizzing by at a dizzying rate. The rapid editing and speed ramping make the action hard to follow, but work better on the dance numbers, especially 'Zinda Banda' the best prison-dance-party since Paddington 2.

Mahesh Babu writes a lovely review of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, calling it SRK's "best performance" of his career.
Mahesh Babu couldn't stop gushing about South filmmaker Atlee's current action entertainer, which also marked South superstar Nayanthara's Bollywood debut. Readers are probably aware of the tremendous outcry caused by Jawan, which was launched on the occasion of Gokulashtami. The film's release was hailed more than the festival since fans across the country were excited to watch their favorite King Khan on the big screen. Among his millions of fans are several from the industry itself. As the Prince of Telugu Cinema and a superstar in his own right, Mahesh Babu's latest post on his social media platform about his evaluation of this Atlee flick, co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, has received a lot of praise from netizens.
Tumblr media
While we haven't seen the two megastars share screen time, Mahesh Babu's affection for Shah Rukh Khan has been a sight to behold! Social media followers were captivated to witness the Telugu superstar sharing a passionate statement and fanboying over SRK in his recent Jawan review. In the same post, he thanked the rest of the film's crew, which included director Atlee, actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, composer Anirudh Ravichander, and producer Red Chillies Entertainment. Mahesh Babu wrote on Twitter, "#Jawan... Blockbuster cinema... @Atlee_dir delivers king size entertainment with the King himself!!" Produces the best film of his career... @iamsrk has an unrivaled aura, charm, and screen presence... He's on fire right now!! Jawan will smash his own records... What a fantastic idea!! "The stuff of legends." His social media review has received a lot of appreciation from not only his fans but also SRK fans who appreciate Mahesh Babu's humble character and his sweet words of admiration for the Baadshah. In terms of Jawan, the film was released on September 7 to tremendous acclaim in many languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film is predicted to have one of the highest opening day collections, surpassing the collections of Gadar 2 and the record-breaking blockbuster Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan.
