Summary: Vincent Black Rothschild was born on June 15th, 1989 to a wonderful family. They were not only well-off but also kind and generous. Vincent grew up with plenty of love. As Vincent grew each day so did the roughness in which he played, this resulted in plenty of hospital visits. This was how the family eventually became acquainted with Dr. Carlisle Cullen. In 1997 only a year after meeting Carlisle a group of newborn vampires terrorized the Rothschild home, luckily enough Alice had a vision; though this did not save Vincent B. Rothschilds' parents it did save him. In the end Carlisle being a compassionate man he is, he decided he would not leave the child in the hands of a foster system, this resulted with him adopting the child to become one of his own. The other members in the coven did not agree with this and told him it was dangerous, warning him of the possible outcomes. Instead of agreeing with his coven family he headed their warnings and invited the child with open arms; Esme soon followed.

Thinking about the character bios from Fable 3 strategy guide,,,

The fact that Jasper doesn't view the HoBW as his employer but as his own child just squeezes my heart. Logan is their legal guardian but Jasper and Walter have been beside them since they were children.

After the death of the old ruler and Logan had to deal with running a kingdom. He couldn't be as present in his younger sibling's life anymore because he wasn't just their brother he was their king.

So, it was up to Jasper. He would wake them up in the morning, dress them, tutor them and Walter could train them in combat.

Walter is described in game (though possesed by the Crawler) to be the HoBW's father figure. Jasper views them as his child.

That's why betraying Logan was so easy for the both of them. Being branded a traitors was nothing to them if it meant protecting their child. I think when Logan had his guards drag them and Elliot/Elise to throne room their minds were completely made up. Even if the HoBW wasn't a hero or even if they didn't want to take the throne, they were going to take the HoBW away.

It didn't matter if Logan was their legal guardian, the second he made the castle unsafe for their child they were going to be gone.

Sora was walking back to his grandma’s mansion, since Noelia is no longer a problem, he can FINALLY see his family freely without fear at being caught!

He then stop and saw a familiar alleyway. It was Jasper’s alley…Sora remembered fondly the day they meet. Jasper Interrogating him, but overtime saw him as brother…what adventures they had.

Now that he thought about it, he hasn’t heard or seen the fish boy for QUITE a while now…which made up his decision for an overdue visit.

He adjusted his basket and headed towards the alleyway.

Sora is so excited to tell him about him and Stone’s engagement. He was even MORE excited to give him the invitations!

Once he Approaches the outside of Jasper shelter. He decide to prepare himself one last time before entering. He then knocked on the wood…but no response…

“Jasper! Jasper it’s me! Your older brother! I’ve got SO much to tell you!”, Sora called out.

Again, no response.

That was weird, Jasper ALWAYS responded right away with a fish book in hand.

“J-jasper? Jasper, are you alright? I’ve got a present for you!!! I know we haven’t talked much nowadays, b-but I still wanted to see how your doing!”

No response…just as before.

Okay, Sora was now getting worried.

The baker then barged into Jasper’s shelter as the paranoia took a hold of his senses. He then stood in shock…his stomach dropped as there was no sign of Jasper or even a hint of a temporary leave…it was empty…THE ENTIRE SHELTER WAS EMPTY!!!!

Sora panicked, running outside the shelter and started calling out Jasper’s name, hoping to hear the youngling’s voice. But no response…

Sora then ran back to the trio’s shelter, crying. Stone was busy with the reservations for the wedding until he turned to face a crying fiancé.

“S-sora??? What’s wrong, love?!”, The alcoholic emo asked as he pulled Sora into a gentle embrace and patting his head in hopes of calming him down for an answer.

“Please, calm down, calm down, my sweet! Tell me what happened???”, Stone asked in a gentle manner so to not overwhelm Sora even farther.

“I-I-I w-went back to see Jasper…and..and…!”, Sora choked up, he was too distraught.

“A’stor, I need you to take a few deep breaths and tell what EXACTLY happened. You said that you were visiting Jasper, what happened?!”

“Jasper’s missing! I-I went to see him as I was on my way home from visiting Olive, and…and…w-when I-I got there…he WASN’T there!!!”

“W-what???…”

This is an interesting take and I had to consult with the Holder of the Jalice Braincells (@volturialice) to really break this down.

It sounds like the author of that take is kind of more interested in perfect, idealized relationships and might not be a fan of Alice, honestly. Plus SMeyer made a lot of the relationship dynamics in canon a really odd thing - we see all three Cullen relationships as very one-dimensional because of the relationship triptych I've ranted about before.

Because of Alice's backstory and her gift, we know that she's going to be a bit of a weirdo. She's essentially bet everything she has that the pictures in her brain are a path to happiness, that Jasper will make her happy. She has no reference point to interpersonal relationships beyond her visions, she has no memories of humanity; we really aren't shown exactly what level she was functioning at when she woke up. Those 28 missing years would be fascinating in how she built herself into a functional individual, honestly.

She bets everything on Jasper, and I think that shows what an optimistic, determined person she is. She could have gone to the Cullens straight away and probably would have been welcomed warmly - there's nothing in canon indicating that wasn't an option. But for whatever reason, Alice commits to waiting for Jasper. That's loyalty and dedication and love.

Just because their meeting was fated/planned doesn't mean it isn't meaningful.

So Alice seeing Jasper for all those years is not going to necessarily match up with him in real life. It's one thing to know a person has trauma, it's entirely another to meet that traumatized, depressed person. It's one thing to get the greatest hits of the relationship pumped straight into the brain, it's another to have all those small moments, those in-between times.

We know from Jasper's time with Maria that he tends to deify the women he's involved with. He put both Maria and Alice on a pedestal. That's just how he loves and commits - fully and totally. His 'hyperfocus' on Alice is a sign of how much he loves and treasures her. I honestly don't think it would have mattered how or when they met, Jasper would have treated her the same - the most precious thing he has.

We also know that Jasper has spent the best part of one hundred years in a high-stress environment where nothing was guaranteed. He didn't trust Maria at the end. So being introduced to someone who could tell him which path would be safe? Where there was no risk or fighting? I think that would be an incredible support for Jasper. I imagine in the early days, he'd probably ask Alice to check the future more than necessary because of his PTSD. And I can imagine Alice checking every time he asked, and going over all the details with love and patience.

And we know that Jasper does go against her wishes - he disagreed with her decision to return to Forks when Alice thought she had died, and Alice went alone (side note, if Jasper had gone with her, there was an opportunity for a lot of Eclipse set up right there.)

As for dehumanizing all her relationships, Alice is very distinctively trying to help throughout the series. It might be over the top, and it might not go to plan, but all of her visions and guidance are meant to help the people she loves. Alice has never known life without her sixth sense, so of course she uses it like we use our five senses. Does it give her a God-complex? Yes. Do I think it's meant to be more of a nod to Meyer's insistence on calling her a 'pixie' and utilizing fae imagery since fairies in lore are supported to love helping? Absolutely.

I think it's pretty disingenuous to say that people are 'ideas' to Alice when she was changed and abandoned. It's more likely that Alice is more intensely aware of what makes them happy so that they all stay together and she's not left alone again. If she didn't see people as people, but as chess pieces, then she wouldn't have go to see Charlie when she thought Bella was dead; she wouldn't have gone to Volterra to save Edward; she wouldn't have taken Jasper with her to find the hybrid.

So yeah, I disagree pretty strongly with this because it feels more like a way to minimize and dismiss Alice and her relationship with Jasper. But this is just my take on the character, and I'm sure there are dozens of different readings and interpretations out there!

The Locked Tomb/Steven Universe Crossover

This crossover was inspired months ago by the random thought "Hey, Pearl would definitely want to be Rose's cavalier" and hasn't left me alone since. So here you go, niche audience of one! (It's me. I am the audience)

First of all, yes, Pearl has to be Rose's cavalier. Not only does it neatly align with Pearl's knightly devotion and the institutional power imbalance they're both trying to ignore, Pearl absolutely is the kind of person who would take "my not-wife refuses to kill me and eat my soul in order to attain immortality" as a terrible rejection.

She's so insane about Rose, she'd fit right in in this universe (pun not intended). Also, the cavalier-necromancer romance taboo works excellently for Pearlrose. For one, of course, the forbidden romance. Cav!Pearl confessing to necro!Rose that she's been dreaming about running away from the Houses together to live in domestic bliss on a nice moon somewhere has the exact same vibes as su!Pearl's confession in Now We're Only Falling Apart. But more importantly, cav!Pearl giving Rose's suitors a "You may have caught her eye, but I am her cavalier; she swore an oath to me; our fates are entwined till death do us part" speech only to go to her rooms and wallow in how the very position that ensures she'll be by Rose's side forever is what will forever keep her from pursuing her true feelings is too good.

Meanwhile Rose is in the next room going "Oh woe is me, for I am a cruel, selfish woman, to keep the love of my life from the glory she deserves! Alas, I can't bear to let her go, even though I know in my heart that her care for me is only the rightful, proper care of a cavalier for her necromancer! The least I owe her is not to take advantage of our pure, sacred bond, so I shall go and drown my sorrows in another fleeting affair!"

Writer's choice whether they miraculously manage to communicate before Rose gets herself killed in one way or another, but ironically the dystopian 50% character death rate tlt verse is much more likely to give them a second chance than pastel redemption arcs su, because Steven Universe is a story about healing from trauma with the power of a supportive network of loved ones while The Locked Tomb endorses attacking the cold unfeeling universe with teeth and fingernails until it returns your girlfriend, and both of them are so valid for this.

In this case however it means, that instead of slowly healing, Pearl absolutely refuses to accept Rose's death to a Harrow and Camilla extent. Does she threaten to stab whoever takes Jod's role in this AU? Does she try to break into the Locked Tomb because to hell with the Houses, she's getting her wife back? Both? In any case, tlt rules demand that she succeeds.

Anyway, I put them in the Seventh House because roses.

As for the supporting cast:

Ruby and Sapphire are the Fifth House wholesome married couple who make Pearl and Rose stare in longing for what they cannot have.

Garnet is Paul. Obviously. Cue another, different kind of yearning for what could have been from Pearl. Poor Garnet has just come into existence. She doesn't deserve having to be everyone's emotional support already.

I struggled with figuring out a role for Amethyst for a while until it hit me: Wasn't it fun when Amethyst experienced self hatred over how the life was drained out of her planet to make her? Try being the result of two hundred child murders! Don't the inadequacy issues gain a delightful new dimension when your entire generation has been killed off in anticipation of your abilities? Guys, I think Amethyst is Harrow Nova.

I have no idea what plot has to happen for Rose to end up with Jod's baby, but that is the only role for Steven I will tolerate. And Connie is his cavalier. Obviously.

Peridot is sciency, Lapis is the quiet OP lady, and they're in a QPR. There was no way I wasn't going to make them the Sixth. HOWEVER. Due to how extremely OP Lapis is with an element manipulating power specifically. I decided that she's the necromancer and Peridot is her incredibly academically talented BFF who they're pretending is the necromancer so she can be along for the ride. This would be plot relevant if this crossover had an actual plot instead of self indulgent vibes only.

Jasper gets Judith's role. Completely loyal to the ethically dubious regime, absolutely convinced that she's the only one who is doing the right thing and everyone else is just not strong enough, ends up corrupted possessed by a Resurrection Beast.

Bismuth is a Blood of Eden commander. She would like to fist fight every single Uppercrust zombie, however, just like su!Bismuth, she is easily won over when a former Homeworld gem House zombie shows up on her planet and announces her intent to fight the Diamonds Jod and his Lyctors and/or bust into the Locked Tomb.

Stephanie deciding to make Jasper a WILLING Confederate will always be so weird to me.

You want Jasper to have fighting experience and be in war? You want him in Texas so he can meet those vampires? Ok whatever. But having him lie so he can join the Confederacy and keep ranking up? No.

If you wanted him in the war, why not have him be drafted? And his ability to manipulate others could’ve been used to calm down conflicts. I’m sure some of them hoes had beef and he wanted no parts. Or maybe some soldiers would be on his ass. There’s so many other things she could’ve did and we never find out if he regretted being apart of the Confederacy and what he thinks about black people now😭😭
