Jason Limon's "Perplexed."
Currently on view at Beinart Gallery in Melbourne, Australia is artist Jason Limon's extraordinary solo exhibition, "Perplexed."
Every five years or so, Limon takes a good look at his art and how he creates it to see where he can continue to grow. During this time, there seems to be a flood of information going through his mind. Not only does he evaluate the subject matter and all the elements used in his paintings, but also he evaluates many other aspects of his life. It is a confusing time that feels overwhelming, because the one thing that is certain is that Limon always wants to continue to create.
In Limon’s art, things may get filtered out while new things get introduced, and along the way, there is a strong mental battle about these elements. In this series, the painting “Perplexed” portrays this idea: complex thoughts and images fill the head of a figure that is nearly submerged. Although Limon has found these transitional periods difficult to adjust to, he is coming to understand that they are a part of his creative process. All of these paintings in the Perplexed collection question who he is inside and what more he will find outside.
Jason Limon was born in 1973 in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. He started creating art as a child, using his busy neighborhood as an inspiration. After studying graphic design and fine arts at the Visual Arts & Technology Center at San Antonio College, he spent several years working in commercial graphic design. Limon then returned to making art for himself, by hand rather than digitally.

#repost @jasonlimonart @jasonlimon Jason Limon (San Antonio, Texas, USA). I recently learned of this instance of feline representation in this illustrator's general treatment of paranormal cryptids and mythological creatures. This one is Prowess, acrylic on panels, 20x20 in. Part of the "persona" exhibit at Copro Gallery. Thanks to @coprogallery for the tip.

“Born of Paint,” 6 x 8 inches.
Otherworldly Paintings Trap Skeletons in Perpetually Bizarre and Eerie Situations
In his ongoing Fragments series, San Antonio-based artist Jason Limon (previously) uses muted jewel and earth tones to paint uncanny scenarios for his recurring skeleton figure. The bony subject finds itself in a variety of bizarre situations, whether bursting from a tube of paint, orchestrating a puppet show with a pair of ornate paper hands, or nervously awaiting an encroaching fire. Often set against backdrops filled with multi-colored dabs of paint, his small pieces are imbued with a sense of creative problem-solving as he traps figures in scenes with boxes of pencils, scuffed erasers, and other craft supplies.
Left: “Breaktime,” 6 x 8 inches. Right: “Replicate,” 6 x 8 inches
Left: “Pulse,” 6 x 8 inches. Right: “Pencils,” 6 x 8 inches
“Unbind,” 6 x 8 inches

Jason Limon’s “Stripped Down.”
Currently on view at Haven Gallery in Northport, New York is artist Jason Limon’s marvelous solo exhibition, “Stripped Down.”
“Stripped Down” will feature ten acrylic paintings highlighting the artists recurring skeleton figures as they bemuse us with their visual wit and whimsical wordplay. Words of emotional repartee are the focus of this series, often mischievously conveying the complex sentiments of the human condition. Limon’s paintings create a four dimensional universe which perpetually traps his skeleton characters in a cryptic storyline to express the complexities of human psychology. He sees the skeleton not as a representation of life and death, but rather a universal symbol that that portrays an idea without a specific identity. These narratives fuse storybook-like imagery with the empathetically uncanny and humorous to amuse and assuage the weight of emotive sentiment. Limon’s paintings steady the macabre and entrenchment of emotion in a light-hearted portrait of our inner selves.
