idk about calling jarther/private eyes toxic....like sure from our normal perspective but in this fictional world wherein one of them is detective who was already a bit fucked up prior to being possessed by the other part of this pair--a fractured piece of a eldritch god slowly experiencing humanity who have then gone through a clusterfuck of trauma along the way....like i think they're doing pretty okay at it. yeah they fight, lie, have their issues and there is plenty of power dynamics at play but like.....they have open and honest communication when shit hits the fan, they compromise when necessary and they've overcome everything because they've fallen into a symbiotic relationship of sorts through their own mutual desire to make it work.

i have no idea how she survived the Kellin incident, but she did

she is brought into the hospital with Arthur and it is assumed that he is her father. shes kept there wherever they keep infants, and as a part of Lucy's job,she would bring the baby in there sometimes, or talk about how the baby was.

john is now slowly attaching himself to this baby, she and Lucy helped him gain humanity while stuck for a month while Arthur is in a coma

before escaping the hospital John makes Arthur grab the baby

and they skedaddle out of that joint.

they name her Lucy after the nurse.

arthur thinks the hyphen in the last name is gaudy, but if john likes it then he will settle for it. he does giver her the middle name Bell though Lucy Bell Lester-Doe

and thus the "Lucy Au" is born

One thing I love about Malevolent is how aro-coded jarther is. I relate so much on the entire vibe of their dynamic (or at least, my interpretation of it) and seeing them be so close and so loving towards one another just. AHHHHHH. THEYRE ARO THEYRE ROMANTIC THEYRE PLATONIC THEYRE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!! I love them.

Question for horror podcasty/audio drama-y people - any recommendations pleaseee?? I've listened to tma before, and have recently got up to date with Malevolent and now there is a hole that needs filling...a jarther/jonmartin sized hole tbh.

I've given Red Valley a go in the last few days, but tbh I'm struggling with it, although I'm gonna do my best to listen to it all, because I'm too invested and too much of a completionist to not, but just wandering what I have to look forward too...

WTNV scares me a little, as it's so long, and I've heard good things about Deviser, the Penumbra Podcast, and Hello from the Hallowoods??? Anyone have any thoughts/feeling/other suggestions???
