now out of all the trek pilots i'd have to say the overall best is Emissary (DS9) - the emotional gut punch in the cold open alone! Avery Brooks truly is an exceptional leading man. All the characters are introduced so seamlessly, the set up for the worldbuilding and new challenges is great, Dukat shows up and cunts around already - who wouldn't want to keep watching.
Best plot set up must go to Voyager: a ship lost on the other side of the galaxy? they're really cooking now. And there are different sides that have to get along? Shame that they didn't really do anything big with the Maquis in subsequent episodes. But you also really get that Chakotay is like "O.O" about Janeway. As we all were.
Best character set up is probably Lower Decks. I'm showing my whole preferential ass here, but Mariner and Boimler are such a good pair from the get go (also closely followed by the TOS The Man Trap, you get what Kirk and McCoy are about in that first scene - but no Spock in sight so it has to go to Lower Decks). Best SciFi story in itself: has to be both The Cage and The Man Trap. Both manage to seamlessly blop you into this world of a space faring community, set up an intriguing mystery, with a satisfying ending. Well, the Man Trap takes it because it doesn't have the weird "oh she's ugly...i'm outta here" thing that Pike pulls.
Best franchise expending set up: Has to be Enterprise. That is controversial I guess, but I do love the step back into the early history and the Asshole Vulcans. The problem with the whole series is that it only comes out in like season 4 that these are Asshole Vulcans for a reason and different to the Vulcans in later Trek - so i get that people think it's bad characterization. No. Shoutout to Discovery in that category as well - the cold open with the Klingons is so good, but they do fumble the tension in the first episode a bit I think. Prime!Georgiou is delightful, though.
Best theme song: Enterprise. Fight me.
Best aliens: Again, DS9 and the Cardassians/Bajoran conflict is so juicy and good.
Funniest: Lower Decks, but it's meant to be. Otherwise I'd say Voyager? I'll be tracking this a bit. Voyager is actually really funny now that I think about it.
Most meh pilot: Strange New worlds. I actually remembered it better .. but man it's kind of boring. Maybe if pike hadnt shaved his beard.
Worst: I was like "oh the TNG pilot is really not good." the whole time but then i remembered that Picard is also here. Damn. Jean Luc, you kind of suck. Farpoint station is bad because it's so stilted, there's no emotional investment in the characters and the pacing is bad; the first episode of Picard is bad because it's Exposition!! the episode. but they really exploded Dhaj, didnt they.
all in all. that's a lot of television

i might flesh these out more i might not lol. some of them i felt INSPIRED on and some i didnt. :V also had names in mind for some of them and not for others lol. generally speaking the idea is that the voyager crew and the maquis are like, two groups in conflict. starfleet is a warren, and the maquis are just a bunch of deserter rogue bunnies causing problems who janeway (Haven) is set out to capture. ummmm i figureeeed MAYBE that the caretaker plot would be that a small group from each side gets captured by the "caretaker" and they get transported somewheeeere like a lab or something and then they have to work together to escape and find their home (or make a new one together *winks mysteriously*).
Janeway: Haven - Captain of her warren's Owsla, sent to capture the rogue rabbits, becomes a respected leader for the band of homeless bunnies, and eventually is regarded as their chief rabbit.
Chakotay: Hawk - A big buck that got his name from the other maquis rabbits by fighting off an elil (hawk lol). He has a sick scar from the fight on his head. Serves underneath Haven and comes to respect her and her leadership, keeps everyone in line since she's so little.
Paris: Buttercup - A free spirit, pretty carefree for a buck and it almost always gets him into trouble. Deserted from the warren, deserted from the rogues, just wants to roam and do what he wants. Considered to be rather fast and brave, if reckless; believes he can outrun anything.
Tuvok: Orchid - Orchid's secretly still a part of the warren still but infiltrating the band of rogues, part of the Owsla in their warren, serves under Haven devotedly. Doesn't say much. Haven blathers for the both of them.
Torres: 🤷 - Not a lot of ideas here sadly lol, her design's very filler I just couldn't think of anything to do. :'U Still debating on giving the girlypops hair. Just an angry doe with daddy issues, serves under Hawk, takes a while to warm up to Haven, thinks she could easily take her in a fight.
Doctor: Doc - I figure Doc and Seven would probably be like, lab rabbits that join the band at the Caretaker's establishment or whatever. So Doc comes across as very spoiled and whiney and pampered (And kinda overweight lol BUT LARGE AND NOT MALNOURISHED). Has a weird knack for cleaning wounds given his upbringing.
Seven: Seven - MAYBE a bred Blanc de Hotot. Built different. Doesn't say a lot. HUGE for a doe, similar to Doc. Has a lovehate thing with Doc, they probably were raised around each other, Seven takes to the wild a lot more naturally than he does.
Kim: 🤷 - Just a lil fella! I'm not sure if he'd have been in the Owsla or not prior to adventuring out with Haven and her group. Maybe he's training to join the Owsla. He's just happy to be here. :)

I love you’re little 2003 comic series and Mikey being to queer! Would you ever draw Mikey and Leo (since you did one with Mikey and don and Mikey and raph?)
Or would you do all 4 of the turtles and them taking about Star Trek while being queer?
Also author, I would like to hear you infodumps/rant about Star Trek :)
thank you! and yeah i have more plans for it dont worry haha
in terms of me info dumping or ranting, well im gonna leave my turtles to do any proper star trek takes lmao (donnie shall be my mouth piece, as i am the voyager stan)
but what i can say is star trek to me is not like a thing i ever actively watched as a kid, but something both my parents had an interest in. so i recognized ferengi and klingons before i knew what they were based on my dads graphic tees, i knew what the ships looked like cuz we had model ships. i have memories of watching star trek characters without having any idea what was going on, specifically janeway lol
and ive not finished any show, though i feel like ive seen all events in most shows? because the way star trek was intended to be watched was episodically on television, and thats how i consumed most of it.
and the other thing ill say is me and the editor (my sibling) came up with the idea based on like a silly thing i said which was simply "hey if the turtles love star trek canonically and 03 is the right age for the next gen - ds9 age, i bet they each have a different favorite, what would they be?"
we didnt have to think two seconds about mikey, mikey would love TOS its a classic it fits the vibes of mikeys classic comic book collection.
leo would love next gen because he would see picard as the best captain and want to emulate that. also think its interesting based on the fact 12 leo trys to emulate the picard parody (who is...a bad leader to emulate lmao, if 12 leo had proper star trek so many leadership issues would have been solved /j)
the real discussion came in the form of between raph and donnie whos voy and whos ds9. as im the raph and theyre the donnie, i wanted to offer up the donnie ds9 cuz thats their favorite show and voy is mine, but they said that raph would like ds9. specifically the politics and more intense war plot lines would speak to him. and that (maybe spoiler for something id wanna draw but oh well) during leos depression arc leo would like to sit and watch that with him because it would speak to him too at that time.
and as for donnie we didnt have the best reasoning for him loving voyager most, what else could we say but donnie has rizz (03 donnie is the only one who has a maybe romance in a one off episode, and i just.... yeah) but then i kind of thought about it more, and something about everyones favorite donnie episode same as it never was (and other donnie central plots) something about the crew of voyager trying like hell to get home even if they might be dead before they make it? i think it speaks to him.
but yeah! i have a lot of thoughts about it, kind of cuz of the age 03 is set in and the way that specific family unit is, that star trek speaks to them for a multitude of reasons! so im kind of making this little series thing about representation without knowing thats what youre looking for ? if that makes sense.

my jj carey cinematic universe kinda chronological idea posting its still super rough GO
elephant wrote in the Carey chapter of lesson plans that peppa and jj were pen pals :3 i think they have an age gap of like 9 years lmao -looks away- (((((chakotay and janeway have the same gap leave me alone lmao)))))) but theyd be like 5 and 14 i think? i figured thatd be how they communicate through their earlier life,,,
maybe peppa would accompany her mother during the Widow’s Walk lil short story about kathryn meeting Joe’s wife and their two sons to bestow the medal of honor or whatever and gives JJ his father’s model of voyager :)
i figure theyd remain distant for a while after that for a variety of reasons like hes grieving his father, probably enters the academy as a promising cadet, idk when hed drop out/leave tbh but it comes as a shock to everyone. anyway also peppa’s mom dies and they go space for several years. i figure theyre both busy being in school/living life to interact much. i thought like maaaaaybeeeee he and patrick (or just jj) would reach out to the triplets when their mother died but i dont think philippa especially would receive it well. shes bad with her feelings and her papa left or was in the process of leaving also lol WHOOPS
might be some time inbetween when they connect but its always brief and very platonic just friends catching up in vibe. put a pin in that one lolllll,,,,,, otherwise:
i was thiiiiinking theyd reconvene at a voyager 20 year reunion? (the 10 year i think lands when theyre out in space!) so shed be around 25 and hed be 34? 🤔 when theyre both adults by that point i think, reconnect out by a fountain. theyd get to talk about what all has happened in their lives, its a little bit of an escape for philippa from the party, shes surprised hes even here considering. very likely his mother and brother didnt come. maybe hed ask about her scar, OR NOT, maybe she brings it up hehe,,,,,, is vulnerable about how insecure she feels about her appearance and hed say something sweet back. :) maybe be a little cheeky about how he loves seeing her patterns more visibly in that revealing of a dress shes wearing!!! 🙈 in a polite way. shed maybe finally have the time to ask why he dropped out of starfleet, shed talk about her own career (idk if 25 is still academy age…) stuff like that!!! but i figure they pick up pen paling each other again after this!!!! bc shes on starships now and hes either home or visiting planets for work.
figure they hang out sometimes while she has time inbetween missions. hes a bit of a geek/nerd combo, she complains about her family a lot with him, she asks him about his projects, stuff she doesnt understand but he lights up about it in a way she maybe envies she wishes she had his passion about something. she visits his house in ireland a lot and has a foundation of fondness toward the country ingrained in her from her mother. ummmm maybe she has an apartment in san Francisco, but she stays over there sometimes to get away from her work. potentially hes the one she confides in about what shes seen and done. 🤷
next thing that happens thats kinda Altering the norm for them is that philippa’s captain betrays starfleet and shes ordered into extended medical leave after being forcefully augmented by her captain. i gotta mention like, philippa and captain sh'eraz have been working together for a bit, their last mission as a captain and XO was to retrieve this lost/dead warship aka the Vesuvius that was stolen by augments early on into starfleet's history and subsequently altered/enhanced. it's kinda a lost relic of a ship, but its augmentations have been a quiet looming threat that starfleet has wanted to obtain and CONTAIN.
but captain sh'eraz augments philippa before escaping capture. (shes either like, with some augments or romulans or something idk yet lol) ANYWAY philippa cant go to Jace during this time bc her augmented and in general thoughts are exceptionally difficult to be around as a telepath, her family isnt an option for her (stubborn?? theyre overwhelmjng to her and shes like, augmented and lashes out and keeps crying all the time, she doesnt want anyone to see her in this state tbh) i think shed end up going to JJ’s for a bit and he offers to take her off world to the planet he’s doing engineering work on. its swampy kinda similar to the planet she was born on. it takes her some time to come to terms with her circumstances, she may never get better, she may be stuck like this and never be allowed back into starfleet, and i think jj would help her with maybe seeing a bigger picture of helping people or something idk. her augmented brain for a while kinda has a knack for equations and blue printing and problem solving so they work on engineering jobs together that shed never have been able to have helped on prior to the augmentation. i figure she gradually learns to relax and let her body heal, eventuslly she starts regressing both mentally and physically back into her old state. like to think she picks up swimming as a hobby, something she never indulged all too frequently before, but shes getting more in touch with her amphibious tendencies while here. eventually they finish their work on the planet and go back, and philippa continues her recovery on earth.
for a time she’s still not 100% back to recovery but shes calmed down and she sees her family and can manage seeing jace now without being mentally A LOT for her betazoid friend. i figure around this time, kathryn is sticking her nose in the revival project for the Vesuvius (or maybe overseeing it?) which is the ancient starship philippa retrieved. thought that she might discreetly recruit JJ to work on the project, not disclosing anything to philippa though. reasoning behind why he gets involved being his experience working with older dated systems and starships, theyre trying to figure out how to deal with the augmentations built into the old ship.
EVENTUALLY, revival project finishes, peppa's probably tried to squeeze information out of her mother and friend for a while but it hasnt worked. Philippa returns to starfleet after her extended medical leave and gets promoted to captain and given the Vesuvius as a new experimental ship, the Legacy.
JJ is given a field commission for a bit, im thinking lieutenant? 🤔 aboard the Legacy to make sure the transition is seamless and nothing breaks, so him and philippa get some time to actually work together in starfleet. :) their overarching goal is to find and aprehend captain sh’eraz but as is the case with most starfleet things, they get caught up in side quests along the way lol. one thing of note for me during this time is like, the Legacy is full of surprises, things missed in its inspection and revival process. philippa had a weeeird intuitive knack for dealing with the augmented stuff on the ship, likely a phantom limb type vibe from her augmentation. she tries to play it down how instinctively she knows how things should work, likely confides in JJ that its something shes dealing with and playing down. as the chief engineer(?) he can kinda go with it, but theyre very “need to know” with each other about the augment stuff. i can imagine a lot of their adventures involve the Legacy doing something augmented and weird and unpredictable and them trying to figure out what its trying to do or tell them.
i dont know if hed still be around by the time philippa is confronting/pursuing her ex-captain, maybe they get the hang of the Legacy eventually and he goes home, new chief engineer comes on in his stead. i kinda want ummmm philippa alone and a little wet cat a and a little obsessed with her mission without much support surrounding her. :3c i also just think theyd pick up writing to each other again and shed miss having him around, so it gives room for THAT. but moidrah sh’eraz gets either captured or killed (idk whats more poignant yet lol) and i think its be traumatic and shes return home to earth and MAYBE see jj and be defeated and cry about it lalala its vague in my head rn.
lifes goes on, hes still doing civil engineer things, shes still captaining the Legacy,,,,, ummmmmm they maybe sleep together one time and MAYBE she gets pregnant…… im still so iffy on that one lmao go read this post for this mess of an idea involving how philipp maybe gets TWO kids 🙈
figurrreeeee not long after THAT ^^^^^ she passes on the Legacy to a new captain and is given command of a galaxy class ship (maybe the Elysium??????) which she never thought shed see herself captaining lmao. idk if those classes are still around for families,,,,,, but i figure shed do something way less dangerous and slower while shes ummmmm maybe pregnant and raising a weird moth alien baby. with jj maybe hahaha. theyre figuring it out THIS AREAS STILL ROUGH FOR ME GET BACK TO ME ON IT LOLOLOL. whether or not hes field commissioned again idk!!! maybe hes training engineers 🤷
but thats all i got so far hahaha :)

i really loved collective and i think im gonna enjoy the rest of the borg children plotline, which is interesting bc turning female characters into mothers is such a pitfall for sexist writing. it so often leads to reducing them down to warm nurturing feminine and very little else or otherwise bending their entire existence around their children, often to the detriment of their emotional depth and competence especially when they didnt show those traits beforehand. star trek is guilty of multiple mystical pregnancy plotlines (some more forgivable than others) which is one of the worst tropes when it comes to wielding motherhood as a weapon against female characters, so there's a precedent for thinking this was gonna go badly.
but honestly it felt like collective dodged all of those bullets. the idea of seven adopting the borg children isnt properly raised until nearly the end, when janeway disagrees with sevens assumption that neelix should be responsible for them and suggests that seven should do it instead. it doesnt feel as tho seven is being pushed towards a more conformist idea of womanhood and femininity for the sake of others comfort like in someone to watch over me, it feels like this is a genuinely interesting challenge that suits her as a character and shows her in more depth. the scene when icheb touches her hair and says its the same colour as his mothers, and although seven had been trying to get him to remember his family she visibly wasnt prepared for that... heartwrenching
obviously ive only seen one episode out of what i assume is going to be a whole arc but i'd say so far this plotline is more comparable to the trope of a stoic grizzled man ending up with custody of a child and slowly learning to open up than the much less enjoyable trope of a complex nuanced female character having her rough edges sanded down to turn her into a cardboard cutout of a nurturing mother.

dime the takes. por favor.
*gets real close to the vending machine* quiero pepsi
okay all seriousness tho imma try to do this in a way thats like idk semi respectful towards janeway but i also need yall to know i do NOT reallyf fuck with her. idk if ive explained why before but i guess here we go
unlike most people that enjoy star trek i didnt really get into it till 2018 and then the demmy hit n i had nothing but time to consume every star trek imaginable and thats how i found voyager. yeah sure make fun of me for not knowing what star trek is but i need YALL to know that it is white and usamerican culture to be raised on trek and I DONT CARE. the only reason i got into star trek is bc a white friend introduced me. all this to say i was introduced to janeways actress through oitnb red ilu so much red best evil white lady <3
anyways i know janeway gets hate for having been the only lady captain and i always preface anything i say about her with this so yall understand that this is not the reason i dislike her but in reality it doesnt help either
also its tiring as fuck to include my opposing argument but it has to be done bc ppl are like “what about- pkay but you didnt consider how- yeah but- actually youre wrong bc-“ like fuck man im doing my damndest i literally hate voicing my opinions bc yall INSIST people of color dont actually get it n its tiring
if youve followed me since i started voyagerposting you may have noticed ive only actually drawn janeway twice and its cuz as a person she rubs me the wrong way for so many reasons
janeway gets put in this impossible position of being the top of the hierarchy pyramid to a crew that doesnt think theyll ever make it home again. shes deemed a mother figure by a LOT of characters but im gonna talk abt her dynamics with b’elanna, and seven because if i were to talk about the dynamics between janeway and harry thatd have to be its own post
when i get into a show, i loooveeee knowing what was happening behind the scenes because i love it!! i love set design i love character design i love costume design i love seeing what the actors are like outside of the show and how they feel about these characters bc these things ARE important. (writers too pero i have beef) behind the scenes is the biggest influence to the final product bc its the reason the final product exists in the first place and behind the scenes so many things went wrong. and when actors are mistreated or dont get along with eachother it becomes pretty apparent. well at least if you analyze things the way i do
so heres my issue with janeway seven and b’elanna. b’elanna is typecast to be the ugly character. klingons gave always gotten the short end of the stick and the case with her isnt as harsh bc her actress is a mixed puerto rican (information that has actually only recently been revealed bc when i tried to find out what roxan’s ethnicity was in 2019 i literally could not find anything definitive except for shes latina) but she STILL gets a lot of shit
one of my favorite things about voyager before the introduction of seven was how b’elanna and janeway actually got to bond a lot over science and when seven took on the roll of pretty girl on the ship, b’elanna and janeway suffered a LOT for it. we have an interesting dynamic between a maquis engineer and a federation captain genuinely not getting along bc b’elanna doesnt see janeways as an authority figure. not until chakotay has something to say about it and also until b’elanna and janeway actually talk about shit n get over their differences. the issue is when ppl purposely skip the earlier seasons to get to seven and then a lot of important interpersonal character building is missed I SAY THIS BC PEOPLE OFTEN FORGET THAT VOYAGER HAS BEEN ASSIMILATED BY THE BORG BEFORE AND EVEN THE WRITERS LET IT SLIP THEUR MIND N ITS LIKE BRO U HAVE GOLD TO WRITE WITH N U JUST LET IT COLLECT IN THE CORNER
seven is a unique and interesting character when she is first introduced. seven looks like any other borg and is so COOL. and then immediately all the cool interesting things about the way seven looks is basically negated to a few shiny parts. and yes janeway is partly to blame
BUT! what is the easiest way to gain the trust of people who already have bad history with who you once were? assimilation of course! seven goes from being one of many to the outcasts outcast
but punkbxt! what does any of this have to do with why you dislike janeway as a character? if anything it sounds more like you dislike seven. as long as the character is white ill always hold a lil disdain for them in my heart <3
janeway symbolizes the best of starfleet. she is an accredited officer and an extremely capable scientist. she is a beautiful white woman in THE position of power something that was revolutionary for her time. the issues with white women being put in positions of power is they they have NEVER had the interests of black and brown people to heart. “yes they-“ SHUT UP and let me speak before you decide to comment on this goddamn post
feminism throughout the centuries has focused on white women and while a show is merely a fraction of the lived reality of its time the effects are still extremely clear. white feminism JUMPED at the character of janeway and celebrated her and rightfully so! the issues came about when women like b’elanna got attacked and pushed to the side. this directly affected janeway within fandom and she got and still is recognized for accomplishments SHE DID NOT DO. she got put on a pedestal and once that happens to a character they suddenly can do no wrong. except she does because shes a human and shes white and shes a character with writers behind her
b’elanna has never actually been a super popular character and the wave of love for her is actually pretty fucking recent and not to toot my own horn but i definitely was a big part of the b’elanna love resurgence. when i got into voyager and these dates ARE important, i used to scroll through her entire tag easily a couple times through a DAY. fans occasionally created art for her and yeah! she got fics but nowhere in comparison to her other peers. surrounding yourself with people who also love her and want to create for her does help with recognition of b’elanna but its super recent stuff. and to add onto that any white fan that has an opinion about her will always be biased because they just do not understand what it is like to exist as a latina woman of color
this is where me myself and i come into the story because wowowowowow star trek is so cool! star trek preaches on and on and on about diversity love acceptance hate oppression and all that good stuff so who wouldnt love it??? and then??? OMG THERES A LATINA CHARACTER IN ONE SERIES OMG OMG OMG. imagine my disappointment when i found out that she a main character barely was getting any love. it hurt. because even within a narrative of inclusion somehow characters of color just seem to always be pushed to the side. especially when a fandom has such a majority percentage of white people
watching her story was SO personal to me. i could see myself in her struggling with living in america. i lived my childhoods in puerto rico and in many different parts of usamerica, surrounded by family and people like me until that wasnt the case anymore. i spent my life living as a nomad with no place to call home for on average no less than a year and no more than three. i could understand b’elanna with her struggles of living in a klingon monastery and then being thrust into an unforgiving and unaccepting world where humans/white people are the most important. the internalized racism that i grew up with was horrendous and to this DAY i am still trying to learn and better myself and connect with my culture in any way i can. because in a black ans white world, where is the space for those of us that dont fall under either? we are ignored and erased and with b’elanna is has been the same
the rejection b’elanna had to her klingon side was something i could relate to incredibly. but it still isnt enough. because even though i could connect with her through her klingon-ness, her latinidad is simply a label. throughout the show you see her change and grow and assimilate to the federation standard and it HURT. the narrative that i was directly picking up from her story was yeah you can be a part of the club but only if you do it how we want you to do it. and dont you EVER even talk about being latino unless its to shit on your deadbeat of a father. and i did. i learned how to adapt at an extremely young age. ive been told its one of the things i do best (sad isnt it?)
and okay how do seven and janeway have anything to do with this? well they are the white women who we literally have to conform to and for. thats it period
seven as a character had an amazing opportunity to challenge gender and sexuality because of her story (one that would have been better suited had she been an indigenous woman which ive spoken on before but thats for another post too) and then the people in charge decided that she just HAD to be the sexywoman instead of leaning into just how much she was no longer human and how humanity itself doesnt actually have one right way to be
this narrative is given to us by janeway time and time and time again correcting seven and telling her that seven simply is not himan enough and still has to learn. (things autistic ppl can suuuuuper relate to which is a reason i could connect with seven at all). no matter how you want to look at it (whatever canon you want to decide isnt canon anymore for the sake of a fucking ship) janeway was directly written to be a mentor and mother figure to seven. janeway is there to help her learn when in reality she can never understand what its like to be an outcast within the federation and to take it a step further be part of a eace which is treated with hostility by humans. something b’elanna CAN understand and relate to because at the time of voyager shits still om the rocks between klingons and humans. janeway pushes seven to accept and embrace humanity as if thats the only option seven has to become a better character but its just not true. the story woven between janeway and seven is one of white women and femininity and how to be the perfect white woman and how to be a good lover. by actively ignoring the help and influence b’elanna could have provided for seven to learn and adapt to a majority human world they put all that weight on janeway. something that affects ALL three of them negatively and results in a narrative of “well b’elanna could never understand and relate to seven in a way that matters” which is beyond true because they are so interwoven even unintentionally so. it simply just wasnt taken further and its a true shame
and this isnt even touching on how badly seven’s actress was treated by janeways actress for being the pretty new doll at the time of filming and how that affected how i felt about janeway/seven as a ship (similarly how castle and beckett did not get along behind scenes i could no longer enjoy that show anymore)
i simplified this IMMENSELY and this shit is already long enough as it is so im sorry about that but yeah thats it. also sorry if things got repetitive ive been told i tend to do that when i write. these are my feelings and i am a real human behind this account so keep in mind how you react to this post. i have recieved countless hate anons most of which ive deleted throughout my short lived time as a fan of this franchise. i used to be MUCH more vocal about representation within star trek and people got mad so i left. but im back because the people that love b’elanna and that love that i have things to say about her matter so much fucking more than any angry person ever will

I’m still thinking about b7 vs j7 and I think another aspect is I really need janeway to be in a relationship where the foundation of their dynamic is someone looking at janeway and going “I could fix her” which doesn’t work for j7 because janeway is the one trying to fix seven. this is why janeway and chakotay and janeway and tuvok (as besties, although i do feel like it would be fun if the three of them were in a semi-nonsexual throuple with chakotay as the apex if you will) work so much better for me. meanwhile b’elanna crucially does not want to fix seven she wants seven to Get Out Of Her Engineering Section.
this is so true janeway needs someone who wants to take her apart and put her back together. my weirdo insane ship is janeway x borg queen i havent actually watched any episodes where they interact but i think it's a solid concept and really speaks for itself. janeway's relationships (platonic or romantic or in between) with chakotay and tuvok are very good. i'm always a sucker for her and tuvok especially i'm just like oh.....they care about each other........
the one way janeway x seven can be interesting to me is if it's like a frankenstein yuri thing where janeway is like ok seven you have to do these things if you want to be a person and is like trying to mold seven in her image evil style. like she thinks shes being the good guy and doing the right thing but it's very narcissistic megalomaniacal etc. and seven challenges her and resists her and calls her out. but whenever the show comes close to doing this it is entirely on accident and the thing it thinks it is doing is in fact really boring so i mostly don't think about j7.
while we're on the subject i will admit i have thought about janeway/b'elanna and i think there could be something there. i think it could be fun. but b'elanna/seven is much more compelling to me always. one time she had a crush on a borg on her ship and she didnt know how to deal with it so she just left her a note saying Get Out Of My Engineering Section. there will be scenes where b'elanna and seven are in the jefferies tubes and theyre so close to each other and bickering and im just like god! damn! kiss already! theyre so good bc you have this woman who hates herself for being different and you have this woman who doesnt understand why everybody around her fears and resents her for being different. so when you put them together something interesting is bound to happen. b'elanna's initial distaste for seven stems so much from her own hatred for the parts of herself she finds unpalatable and feels she has to suppress. it's very much closeted gay person resents visibly gay person for their lack of shame. which, again, ricstar. and for seven i think it's so good for her to have to hang out with someone who won't pull her punches given that she can be super judgmental and inconsiderate without realizing it (relatable). i'm just like aaaahhh....what if these 2 women helped each other learn and grow.......

Much thanks for the tag game, these are fun to participate in
1- Sokka (ATLA): I love this dorky gooby man, he is just so kind to those who he cares about and loves to be there for others. His character arc is also sooo good! Plus he gets to be in love with his equally as dorky best friend.
2- Rhaenys Targaryen (House of the Dragon): Badass princess who rode one of the coolest dragons, Meleys, the Red Queen. She also got some of the coolest lines and outfits in the show. She may have been passed over in the line of succession but that doesn't stop her.
3- Fumikage Tokoyami (My Hero Academia): A little edge lord of a hero. He has one of the coolest quirks and uses it so wel!?!?! He can fly and do close combat. Dark shadow is such a funny dude and can be so op. He cares for his friends and is willing to throw down for them.
4- R2-D2 (Star Wars): Asshole and bastard. R2 is such a smart ass and I love him. He knows all and is loyal to a fault to his friends. I love this little robot with all my heart. I support all that he does no matter what.
5- Kathryn Janeway (Star Trek: Voyager): The best captain and mom friend out there. She lead her crew through the delta quadrant and helped Seven of Nine when no else would give her a chance. She can go from diplomatic to shove this up your ass in a instant. May have a slight coffee addiction but she with all the shit she has to deal with I dont hold it against her.
6- Shiro (Voltron: Legendary Defender): GAY SPACE DAD, GAY SPACE DAD! We stan space dad. I love him and all the faces he makes and he deserves everything good in the world after what happened to him. He needs to peeled off the floor every now and then and honestly same dude same.
7- Thomas Barrow (Downton Abbey): Oh Barrow you are the cause of all your problems. Maybe try being less of a asshole if you people to actually like you. Which i would say if being ass didnt get you into trouble BUT ALSO out of it 99% of the time. But its okay we love you asshole and all little man. He is the dramatic gay and we stan him.
8- Raihan (Pokemon): The dramatic man who is such slut. Yes this is not canon at all but I have so many headcanons for him its not even funny. Wipe that smirk off your face asshole nobody likes. Its a lie. I like him
9- Darkstalker: (Wings of Fire): Look I now he is a evil mastermind and all but c'mon. He is just such a good villain. He manipulates those around him and then is like but why when consequences smack him int he face. Big bad evil dragon who has a great book.
10- Chin Ho Kelly (Hawaii Five-0): Ngl I dont remember a lot about him from when I watched the show years ago. But what I do remember him was being beloved and once of my first crushes in media. ------------------------------------------------

This is cool, thanks for the tag @transuncletaylor! I think I just talk about my faves right? I know I’m forgetting some but here goes
Sokka (ATLA) : he’s so funny and interesting and his character is So Deep actually! I love a guy with Secret Issues. Must be relatable I guess.
Mako (LOK) : You’re going to start seeing I have a type. Hot, bad boy vibes, seems reckless but has a huge sense of justice actually. Also I LOVE a mysterious and tragic backstory.
Jim Kirk (Star Trek) : I mean the exact same reasons as above pretty much.
Jack Kelly (Newsies) : same hehe. I just love these guys of questionable sexuality who are like a leader of a found family and would do ANYTHING to protect them.
Marius Pontmercy (Les Miserables) : he’s annoying af and doesn’t get the point of anything going on around him but he knows exactly what he stands for. So relatable. His hyperfixation with Napoleon for entirely stupid reasons? Iconic. What a king. Living through a tragedy too? I’m attracted to that angst like flies on shit.
Tommy Shelby (Peaky Blinders) : He’s just badass. The best antihero. He says fuck capitalism and then falls victim to it lol. Also he is a GENIUS and loves to fuck people up to protect his family. Also his trauma is delicious to me ofc.
Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher) : Mysterious hero with pain and a family. So yeah.
Roronoa Zoro (One Piece) : I mean pretty much the same as the majority of this list. Tough guy who would die for his captain omfg
Han Solo (Star Wars) : the og baddie, need I say more
Anya Forger (Spy x Family) : listen it creeps ME out too that a little girl is on the list of me, a grown ass man, but she’s SO funny and her cuteness reminds me of like every student I ever had, I can’t help it
ok idk if y’all figured out but I just tag people by typing letters and clicking the first people who show up lol. Anyway if I dont tag you and you wanna do this, go for it. If I tag you and you don’t want to do this, fine.

THE DOCTOR DIDNT EVEN GET TO SAY GOODBYE TO KES :(((((( WTF WRITERS
she sent them 10 years closer to home though!! that was so sweet, I'm sure the writers were rushed to write a last episode for kes, but come on, she spent most of her screen time with the doctor and neelix, she got a goodbye scene with neelix (sorta) but nothing with the doctor :(((( it was really just one goodbye scene with janeway (who honestly didn't spend a lot of screen time with her, I loved the scene but it was all so sudden in the last few minutes of the episode, she didn't get any real formal goodbyes. blah)
and we got a scene after she left, with tuvok doing a ritual for her, but again, nothing with the doctor.

just some proggy Mindwalk cringe in Threshold AU lol.
I FINALLY GOT MY JANEWAY + HOLO-JANEWAY INTERACTION!!! and that was important really only see how i'd broach how janeway feels about it looking all young and 'human' and such uwu WHICH!!!!!! she seemed pretty unphased by her (or they didnt have time to waste with dialogue lol WHICH IS FAIR LOL). which pretty much leaves it open as to whether or not i can headcanon that janeway knew of its implemented appearance as being younger and "less evolved" before or during her mission to rescue chakotay heehee. i dont think i have a preffy but i think regardless she'd be MIFFED about it. in a cute quirky cringe way i wonder if she'd have moments of insecurity over it being around chakotay and looking like THAT. but yknow shes mature about it, treats her hologram self cordially if not a little patronizing lol.
it was cute to see janeway be pretty unresponsive to Dal's ganglia or tendril or w/e dare i say like shes used to having something similar to that on her face hahaha. contrasted with dal in janeway's body who has 0 control over the barbels that are just CONSTANTLY quivering.
ALSO,,,,, JUST SAYING,,,,,,,, janeways TECHNICALLY been "body swapped" before,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, in Vis a Vis lol,,,,,,,,,,,, (i think her body gets "morphed" into Paris's,,, SAME CONCEPT EFFECTIVELY),,,,,,,,, just a missed opportunity there but its probably a harder-to-grasp comparison than threshold is. i just thought it was funnyyyyyyyyyyyyy ive humored the idea of doing some janeway "in Paris's body" thiiingsssssssssss

Voyager confessions #7 -Endgame I ( Admiral Janeway and coffee)
Well... Endgame is sure packed with lot of things. Its the end of 7 year long journey, lots of stuff is happening... (some are out of thin air *looking at a certain commander in his mid life crisis and a blonde borg bombshell*), some interesting things like Future- Admiral Janeway is there with a plan to take Voyager home early, Tom and B'Elanna finally having their baby girl ( trust baby Miral Paris to be born during a transwarp flight) and slightly disturbing versions of the future timeline, Sick Tuvok, dead! Chakotay, dead! seven ( 20+ others dead too) and Kathryn Janeway turned to a hardrned shell. she is just Captain/ Admiral Janeway (Kathryn Janeway died alongside her best friend/ soulmate. She died a little everyday in DQ, for 23 long years and finally Chakotay's Death was the final nail in her coffin). We can see this actually starting to happen in season 6 and 7... Captain Janeway is just different. she is depressed, more stubborn and drifted away from crew and her friendship with Chakotay is in a precarious position. (well, life in DQ is no Walk in the park but Janeway is way too hard on herself... well, that is a discussion for another confession)
In Endgame, we see Captain Janeway and Admiral Janeway and the main difference is... she doesn't drink coffee anymore ( this is the woman who changed the course of the ship to get energy just because she was Caffaine depraved) and more sarcastic and scathing than Janeway we know and love. She says she is drinking tea now. And just so I noticed she is drinking from an old (rather dented) mug in her apartment before she journey through time. ( also her Visit to Chakotay's grave... oh my heart. the way she placed her palm on the Stone as if it was his chest, and the way she talked. don't tell me she came only to bring Voyager home, but to fix J/C in the altered version too) well, we all know Chakotay liked tea and my HC is that mug is his and Kathryn keeps it as a daily reminder of her failiure and inability to bring Chakotay and others home properly. ( I also HC that Janeway gave up suger and cream after that terrible incident in Tau Ceti Prime, and just drank Black coffee as a reminder of her loss.)
and with loss of Chakotay, she gave up the only luxury she ever allowed herself, coffee ( we all know too well how much she loved coffee). Every cup of tea twisted her heart with the knowlege that Chakotay isn't here to share it with her, she can never offer him his favourite beverage or listen to him tease that she is drinking tea now ( she just kept the mug because it is the last thing he touched, and when she closes her eyes... she can pretend he is there ...watching her drinking tea from his mug with a smug, dimpled smile)
Also, smell of coffee is subconsciously bonded with Voyager for her. Very painfully so. smell brings her the noise of Red alert Klaxxons, of borg and other alien invasions, injured and dead crewmen, she feels she is sitting in her ready-room, in Voyager no matter how long the time passes. and she do not need that any more. she can't breath when she see faces of her crew that didnt make it.
so she settles for tea, and the Pain it brings to focus on her mission. To travel back in time and bring Voyager and him home, to her.

I Gotta write down my threshold au ideas or I’ll forget and die hahaha.
ANOTHER hypothetical for the Amelia running away plot:::::
It’s been kinda eating at me A LITTLE BIT 👌 that kathryn wouldnt go search for her daughter,,, (given how we see her respond to chakotay being Lost who PLAUSIBLY is of a more insignificant relationship to kathryn than a daughter would be, regardless of age) and why Philippa inevitably DOES,,,,,,, and like,,,,,,, one thing I was thinking today was that maybe Amelia was assigned to an away mission, maybe it’s her First Mission being promoted To Lieutenant Commander,,,,,,, and its waaaaaaaaay out there in Space, probably out of starfleet jurisdiction or however that works haha, and it’s a multiple year venture. MAYBE one year. Depends on the positioning of philippas promotions. Regardless, Amelia’s achieved her rank in record timing by comparison. similarly to chakotay in Prodigy, shes been out of contact and silent for AN AMOUNT OF TIME. Maybe it’s not enough to be concerned, no one wants to jump to conclusions. Amelia can handle herself. But Philippa has a suspicion that something’s happened. Maybe just prior to Amelia leaving, she gave off this reeeeaaally weird vibe to Pip that piqued concern for her sister. Like I dont think she’d act out or do something crazy. But I guess the hypothetical I’m running through my head is that maybe her crew got stranded out there. Or MAYBE she bailed. But I’m kinda inclined to go with like, it’s a small crew so Amelia is “acting Commander”. Ummmm and they all just lose their ship and maybe use escape pods or SOMETHING. But they all get separated or maybe captured, don’t wanna say Enslaved but Maybe hahaha. Like I Imagine Philippa and ed out there searching and finding a lost crew member or two, and gives them at least a start on an idea as to what happened to their sister. I guess where im super indecisive with Amelia is like whyyyyyeeeeeee and or how she leaves everything and doesn’t get stopped or found like, immediately lmao. And I guess with this scenario it’s toying more with the idea that inevitably she DIDNT make that decision to leave starfleet, but it got forced upon her and then she doesn’t return to it. Maybe becomes content in her duty-less life,,, more able to roam and do what she wants,,,,,, IDK HAHA. I dont SUPER vibe the idea that something immoral happened to make her leave,,, just because her whole family’s kinda starfleet stans,,,,, and she’d Have to live around that if she returned to her family. I think it might be her facing the music a little that she’s not cut out for command outside of perfect track records and perfect studying and procedural stuff. Which she doesn’t even likeeeeeeeee.
Um ANOTHER competing but kinda related small idea I was having was that this little venture would probably make it reeeaally painstakingly clear to the triplets how much philippa is like their motherrrrr,,,,, just in how she’s acting toward wanting to find her sister, is reluctant to commit to backwater schemes because it goes against starfleet protocol,,,,,, openly drinks coffee around Ed lol,,,,,,,, stuff like that :) I was also thinking how fun itd be If Like,,,,, the whole time theyre out there in the delta quadrant searching,,, they run into species that are familiar with Voyager and or Captain Janeway hehe. And it’s something Philippa especially has been avoiding association with her whole starfleet career. or Quite honestly I think they’d just recognize them by familiarity of appearance ;;;) probably works against them more often than not. Anyway I think Ed would take note of the differences in her sister over the years, hin having been gone for some time. And just yknow sweetly be like “wow you’re so much like Mom” and all that haha. And maybe in the way Philippa is responding to the idea of her losing her sister, he compares it Maybe to the way kathryn would have responded To Ed at a young age leaving to go journey on his own in uncharted space teehee!
