Thank you so much to @bredalot and @buckthefutcher for starting this group and keeping it going! It's been so much fun!

Many of us want to continue, so we'll be starting again with 1x01 soon.

It’s so sad The Magicians could have been good if I had written it 😔 like okay yeah I’m only on S2 but I feel like they rlly fumbled the obvious parallel between Julia’s trauma and the Chatwins’… like when Martin was trying to persuade Julia to give up her shade I was like omg what if bc of their shared trauma Julia decides to restore Martin’s shade instead of letting them murk him and it turns out the only actual way to defeat the beast was to return his soul to him, and now Martin has to actually work through his trauma and the fact that he killed his own sister and take responsibility for the ppl he hurt and also now the Big Bad of the whole series is just like… a guy who cries a lot and it’s really uncomfortable how he keeps following them around and apologizing for killing them all 39 times in really graphic detail and it could have been funny and still a lot more sympathetic but for some reason this show hates SA victims specifically… or idk maybe Julia travels to the past again and confronts Jane and asks her was it worth it. Was it worth it, unleashing Reynard onto the world (albeit unintentionally) where he victimized more people in the same way that Plover did to her brother? Was substituting one monster for another really the best you could do, was your happy ending worth mine? Reynard did way more damage onscreen than Martin ever did, and yet everybody treats Julia like she’s being petty and selfish for choosing to go after the rapist murder demon over the demon beefing with college students, and Reynard is eventually spared despite being pure evil and an active threat while nobody has any thoughts or feelings ab killing Martin, a victim of SA who went down a dark path out of desperation. I just found it so strange that we never lingered on the pretty compelling tragedy of the Chatwin family or learned anything about Jane’s feelings toward her brother, what was done to him, what he did to her, what she did to him etc. And when Julia and Martin teamed up I was really looking forward to what could have been a really fun and weird odd couple dynamic but instead Martin gets nuked so Quentin can be sad ab what a shitty bf he was and Julia loses her soul after aborting her literal demon baby… tanked it they fucking tanked it why does this show treat SA victims as though they have something to atone for or as if being angry ab being abused makes them just as bad as their abuser it’s so grody. If you want to include dark themes to make it more gritty and adult fine whatever but does that have to mean punishing characters for ?? trying to do some good after recognizing they fucked up and getting tricked?? Getting an abortion?? Seeking sanctuary from their abuser?? I don’t think either of these storylines necessarily had to be this tacky and awful, but if you’re including themes of SA and SA recovery in your sexytimes edgelord magic show then you’d damn well better know what you want to say

Since her character gives me magical whimsy definitely tea with the whole ass tea pot -- she gives me Alice and the mad hatter rolled into one.

Now I'm biased as I still think he would have what he has in my AU , that is a large black americano with three or two shots of vanilla but than again I could see him pushing the boat out to have a cortado.

ᴘᴇɴɴʏ:

Probably thinks it's over priced shit but if out on a date with Kady -- a mocha for sure , strong and sweet.

ᴍᴀʀɢᴏ:

Sweet delgiths all the way but with maybe an extra shot of coffee in them. So I can see her having salted caramel frappes with coffee or white chocolate mocha's with cream.

ᴀʟɪᴄᴇ:

Earl gray , black or fruit smoothie. Something easy and to the point

ᴋᴀᴅʏ:

Simple coffee , knowing she had to work hard for the easier things in life -- I feel like having any hot beverage would be OK. If penny was treating her -- caramel latte for sure.

All and any Christmas drinks or anything with extras-- it being toppings to glitter -- she would be happy. Fen would be the girl to have a iced flavoured latte with cream for sure. Simple pleasures for a simple queen.

A little bit of a tough one -- I can see her having an americano too but maybe she would just add booze to her coffee -- added extras when needed.

He would definitely have an americano with milk but he would ask for it as a normal coffee for sure. Probably will add his own booze if possible

God all the hipster trend drinks , he would be pulling up tik tok or online recipes to baristas and asking them to make it fooor sure

He acts like he has the finer things in life when he really just has a cappuccino or when high a salted caramel hot chocolate.

What is up with The Magicians' writers making these sort of guardian figures literally no one asked for tell canonically depressed and suicidal people things would be better if they died young?

Penny to Quentin in S4 finale and Jane to Eliot in S5.

Like, don't they get what a terrible message that is? And they go and do it twice? With the two most beloved characters? What the actual fuck?!

I do so love The Magicians, but even more than the kiddos in the main cast, I love the side characters that get approximately 1% of screentime. Master Magician Middle Aged Women (including those who are multiple hundreds of years old and appear 20 but still have big middle aged energy) characters my beloveds.

Idk if anyone else has thought of this but in the first season when Quentin and Julia are in past fillory and help Jane Chatwin escape the trap as the "witch and the fool". Is that before or after Jane gets the key from the "Old man" (mosaic Quentin)? because if that is before than there is an overlap with two different Quentins from two different timelines in one place.

I Iowkey need a fic of season 1 Quentin and Julia stumbling onto the mosaic and finding old Quentin and Elliot.

I hate Jane Chatwin so much.

It's very fitting for her to be the WatcherWoman, actually, because she is a true villain.

I mean, that bitch sat back and watched as a group of students, most of whom are first-years, kept trying to defeat her little brother turned powerful villain (and one can't help but wonder what would happen if she wasn't so blind when they were kids and actually saw what was going on right under her nose while she went back and forth scedaddling to a fantasy land) and did nothing to actually help them, only manipulated events as she saw fit, and those students died a number of times thanks to her, like we know Q died 39 times, but how many times did others do? Plenty, I'm sure.

And don't get me started on 5x02... like, as much as s5 was full of weird decisions on writers' part and bullsh*t, Jane was pretty consistent in her awful way and did she really basically tell Eliot that because he lived, Q died 39 times?

Did I get that right?

In timeline 1 Q survived but Eliot died. And then, she said, she saved Eliot and Q died 39 times. Like that's El's fault?
