OC name meanings for SOTSK
I saw @blind-the-winds do this and they had it as an open tag so I thought I'd contribute! I love name meanings so letsa go:
The Dalions
Jamos: Altered form of "James" which is Hebrew for "Supplanter"
Katrine: Altered form of "Katherine", meaning 'pure', and is Greek in origin
Laedir: Made up. Though I think it means 'leather' in Dutch with a different spelling so....
Quinnton: Latin, meaning 'the fifth'
Bronwyn: Welsh, meaning 'white breasted' (I've heard this was meant to imply 'pure hearted' ?), also 'white raven'
Gevin: A mix of "Kevin" and "Gavin" - Kevin is an anglicized Irish name meaning 'handsome', and Gavin is most commonly thought to be Celtic in origin, meaning 'white hawk' *
Ciaran: Irish, meaning 'little dark one' (referencing colouring/hair colour)
Jerod: Alternate spelling of "Jared", a Hebrew name meaning 'descent'
Cassian: Latin, 'empty' or 'hollow'
Nurei: Initially made up, I think I stole it from some online story about fairies I read in like 2009 and spelled it differently. HOWEVER upon researching, I found out that "Nura" and "Nureh" are real names of Arabic origin, meaning 'light'
Esme: Old French for 'esteemed'
The inlaws/ others
Jessylle: Reworking of "Giselle", a Norman French play on a Germanic word meaning 'pledge'
Jena: From "Jennifer", a Cornish version of the Welsh "Guinevere/Gwynhwyfar", meaning 'white' or 'white wave'
Brenna: Celtic, 'little raven'
Gwyn: See above ^^
Nysel: All I can find is that "Nysell" is a surname, but idk what it means
Neroli: Italian, referring to orange blossom scent (fun fact, I stole the idea of naming a character this from a girl at my high school who had the name Neroli *shrugs*) **
Taigen: Reworking of "Teagan", Irish meaning 'poet' or 'philosopher'
Mariel: Danish, 'star of the sea' (did not know this was a real name until I googled it, I thought I was just spelling "Muriel" with a different vowel)
*no, I didn't name both the twins after white birds on purpose, it just Turned Out That Way and honestly I'm a little insane about it
**I definitely did not go through my yearbooks to find kids I didn't even talk to who had cool names and make a list of them to Use
There are way way too many characters in my book but I'm gonna leave it there...
Tagging: @kaatiba @kingsinking @writerfae and also gonna leave it open to anybody!

This is an opportunity to infodump on whatever you wish
Thank you anon, for letting me infodump about Swag Age because I think it's a musical more people should watch even if you aren't Korean (although that'll also be hard because english translations are hard to come by). So! *cracks knuckles* here we go!
This takes place during the Joseon era of Korea which was when Korea was known as the Nation of Poetry. However, in this nation of poetry, poetry has been banned under threat of death/imprisonment for the past 15 years by the Poetry Minister.
Rebelling against this ban is the revolutionary poetry group Golbindang who wear masks to keep themselves anonymous and are fighting to prevent the complete loss of poetry. But we'll get back to them.
The protagonist of the story is an approximately 18 year old (according to an interview with one of the actors it's never explicitly stated) boy, named Hong Dan, practicing poetry and going around acting like a nobleman. However, this often gets him in hot water with the army (for the poetry) and his fellow townspeople (for the acting like a nobleman). But ultimately, this is also what captures the interest of a girl named Jin. She introduces him (after various shenanigans) to the rest of the Golbindang, which she's a part of! Golbindang is made up of Sibju (the leader), Ho Rosoi (the jokester), Kiseon (the jack of all trades), Sunsu (the guard), and Jin (the tactician). They're following the will of Hong Jamo and fighting for a fair and free world. Sibju then reveals that the Jamo that had raised Dan the past 15 years and died recently was Dan's father and had lied about Dan's orphan status to protect him from Jamo's status as a traitor. With this revelation and a final letter (written on a fan) Dan resolves to follow in his father's footsteps and bring about a fair and just Joseon.
But the Poetry Prime Minister, Song Hongkuk, has other ideas. He has the army threaten anyone who supports Golbindang in an attempt to find and capture the group. But this fails, and eventually the Emperor catches wind and decides to rehost the traditional Joseon Poetry Competition that had been banned 15 years ago. Through this, Golbindang (who took up the alias Suaegu to hide their identity) revealed the stories of the people. The Minister Song found them out really quickly, though, and had them captured. But then Jin's guard Lululala Jono (Jin's Minister Song's daughter btw. Most of Golbindang knew but this is when Dan finds out) frees them.
Dan originally refuses to go with the rest of Golbindang, having felt betrayed for not being told that Jin was actually Minister Song's daughter. But after seeing the atrocities of the army and a talk by Jin about how they aren't as different as they might originally have thought, and that leads to one final stand against Minister Song. With the rest of Golbindang's help he's able to get the Minister captured as a traitor and release the ban.
Summaries aside, there's a lot about this musical that has captured my brain, such as
the message against censorship
the message that people should be allowed to choose their own path in life and not one dictated by those in higher power
the message of equality for all
Hong Dan being a relatable character, often feeling like someone I could easily see myself being friends with
Jin being a strong female character whose arc is just as much about finding her own path in life and sticking to her own decisions as Dan's is.
there being no major plot of romance, and all romance that does exist is either the butt of a joke or someone's backstory
Golbindang being the true definition of found family where no one really falls into the stereotypical family structure: ie this is the dad, this is the mom, etc. Sibju (who is the only person who really fits the "dad" mold) is mostly just the leader due to his age and ties to Jamo (and likely cause he founded the group) and while he also often takes a disciplinary role, he is often just as much the person who needs to be disciplined by the others. If anything, everyone is the child and the only real differentiating factor is the fact some are older than others.
Minister Song feels like a realistic villain who took his perception that the world has gone soft and wants to right it by making Joseon a militaristic country...
the story as a whole just feels really relatable to a modern day audience despite it being set during the Joseon Dynasty because a lot of what the group is facing is what we face today.
So many in-jokes and puns are present, especially during the second half of the musical.
The songs are bangers, mixing the more modern style of hip-hop/pop music with old Korean instruments to create a very interesting soundscape
All of the characters are unique in their own ways and somehow still memorable and not in a way that is confusing
Here're the highlights (each video has 3 songs)

The fact that Amos genuinely asks this as a question is utterly flabbergasting Holden for many, many reasons.
If he had started with a more blank statement like, “Pedophile’s do this...”
Maybe it would be less revealing? Less disconcerting? Perhaps not.
But there is something is visceral and raw about how blunt Amos is sharing his insight in their current predicament while hinting at his past.

HONORABLE MENTION
Beyoncé - RENAISSANCE
I know it’s coming... *hands on hips* “Honorable mention?!?”
I just can't listen to Renaissance straight through. I’ve tried and tried and tried. When it comes to my listening experience, I approach music sonically first, following the story and arrangement of the music instruments, and how the timbre of one's singing or rapping meets and interweaves between those elements. Give me an audio painting with a tapestry of enthralling colors and textures that I can feel. Then I'll invite in the lyrics.
It's like cinema. The average person most likely follows the eyes of the camera as it relates to the dialogue for the cinematic story. The way my brain is wired 🤖 I have to separate a number of other elements into parts as the story moves along — from the color grading and lighting to the sound design and mise-en-scène — to fully understand the director's vision and grasp the actual tale.
The thing about Renaissance as a whole is that it doesn't breathe enough for me. It feels chaotic like a tide than a flow if I let it run straight through. Give me spatial, darling! But that's the intentional, heavy-handed part about Renaissance, especially on the heels of a post-pandemic world: "Get tf up, dance and feel good." I don't wanna dance; I just wanna listen 😩 lol
Side note:
We all have a specific musical palette as to why we fully gravitate to some songs/albums and not to others. I posted my review of Susan Roger’s book, This Is What It Sounds Like: What the Music You Love Says About You, a few months ago. (She was Prince's sound engineer from 1983 to 1988.) If youre curious about why you like the music you like, I recommend for you to read it.

Ty & That Guy Podcast thoughts 💭 plus my own rewatch season 1 episodes 1xO4 & 1x05.
1x04 is a game changer. I liked the show immediately but I wasn’t hooked until 1x04. That was my event horizon.
Season 1 Holden being slacker turned celebrity with self-imposed Atlas like responsibility to hold up the world. So, completely unprepared and yet gonna do it anyway. {I love this idiot}
Season 1 RAW Amos with his dead shark eyes. Always ready to solve problems by pre-emptive violence. It is scary how he is both checked out of conversations and yet always aware of his surroundings. {I intrigued and terrified}
✅Holden holding eye contact with season 1 Amos is ballsy and he doesn’t flinch.
Holden and Amos clash. Lots of sparks. But despite Holden’s apprehension, he doesn’t back down. Amos looks away first.
‼️Amos can be VERY scary 😧....
😱Even Naomi (the only person he trusts) is afraid of him.
So, Amos is also looking (vetting) Holden and it’s a slow process.
*Season 1 Holden is .....Very Alpha....for a righteous AF out of his depths tactile softie.
But let’s review:
Holden can’t be forced into doing things, just because he is given an order.
The Donnager crew couldn’t make him change the narrative and blame Naomi.
Instead they save him. {Damn that is powerful}
But more than that.
➡️Holden wears them down, so that he gets to save his crew mates too.
Omg. {That is hella outrageous swagger.}
He could easily taken the out to blame Naomi and left, no questions asked. That is actually what the Donnager would have preferred.
But, he fought back. He didn’t back down. Just like his backstory in the Navy.
He will not be a bully and he will not enable bullying. And what Amos hates is a bully. So, this is the very rocking beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Ty & That Guy - about episode 5
Holden is an inexperienced hot mess, but he is also self aware. Amos is numb and trigger happy, but he is self aware.
{The Rocinante naming moment} ....the story means so much to Holden. And an exotic dancer with that name meant something to Amos.
It’s the same kernel, from very different seeds.
{Inspiration from these GIFS}

BOHOL
People loves to travel around the globe and Filipino also wants to travel around the Philippines and many of us dreamed to go to the famous places like Palawan, Boracay and Banaue Rice terraces so that to have fun and relax and also to explore. There is a place where some of us dreamed to go there and that is Bohol Island and experience their culture, tourist attraction, food and also their good behavior
When I was at my age sixteen, we travelled to Bohol because there is a celebration in my mothers home town which she gives important so that he can also relax and when we arrived at the port it feels different because Boholano people speaks Bisaya but they have a different accent and some words has a different meaning for them. When we first arrive, I immediately notice that people mostly life through agricultural products.
Kalamay in Bohol is one of a kind?
Kalamay is the most famous product of Bohol because all Filipino’s already sink in their mind that if the Kalamay is from Bohol automatically it is delicious it has a sticky sweet delicacy that is popular in many regions of the Philippines. It is made of coconut milk, brown sugar, and ground glutinous rice. It can also be flavored with margarine, peanut butter, or vanilla. It is the delicacy of Bohol where when a Boholano eats a slice bread instead of peanut butter will be the filling for it, they put Kalamay as the filling for their sliced bread there instead of jam or peanut butter.
Boholano’s sources of living.
The general culture is lowland and coastal Visayan with intensive wet rice agriculture instead of the propensity for the production of corn as in central Visayas. The other crops are camote, cassava, taro, beans, bananas, and mango; with the latter two in substantial quantities. Copra is ubiquitous but abaca is not as much. Fishing is common in the coastal areas. Southern Bohol is known for the unique hunting specializations for whales, dolphins, sharks, and mantas which have influenced other areas in northern Mindanao and also their tourism helps other people in Bohol to have a job.
There are also other delicacies than Kalamay.
Besides the Kalamay there are also other delicacies in Bohol that you need to try also if you need some pair for your rice you can try there ginataang Takla has a Takla (crayfish) is one of the many types of fresh, delicious seafood you can find all over Bohol. Almost like a cross between shrimp and lobster, takla is usually cooked in a sauce made of gata (coconut milk) and a yummy kick of spice. And also, Chorizo de Bohola sweet, garlicky version of chorizo or longganisa that is a perfect ulam to have with sinangag and egg!  and also, if you want some sweets except Kalamay you can also try their peanut kisses and if you want some natural hot chocolate you can try there sikuate which contains a preserved grind cocoa so that It can produce some chocolate while you’re stirring it
There are lots of tourist spots in Bohol
When you want to come to Bohol you should also consider that Chocolate Hills is not just also the tourist destination Bohol have they also have a Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary where you can interact personally with a tarsier and if you want some intense adventure you can try to visit their HInagdanan Cave where  there is a  water inside of a  cave and has a natural beauty because of the sea water flows on it and if you feel hungry but at the same time you want to sight seeing you can try their loboc river cruise where you can relax and enjoy the calmness of loboc river by riding a cruise while serving some food to eat not just your stomach will be filled but also you eyes and your memories. But don’t worry if you are a beach person you can also try their Alona Beach where if you want some white sand it has and it has a twist because you will going to ride a small boat to reach the island of Panglao where you can relax far away from the civilization and if you want to interact  marine lives in Bohol there are also activity for that.
Boholano’s are good to others not just for their fellow Boholano’s but for everyone they in counter
The Boholanos are known to be thrifty, law-abiding, hospitable, religious, humble people. Surrounded by big body of water, they became expert sea-farers and famous traders. They have always been portrayed in a way that sometimes they abhor. In spite of these portrayals they remain modest and undisturbed. Boholanos are very hospitable which is sometimes overdone just to impress and satisfy for the convenience of the visitor.
Boholano’s mostly use “J” in their local dialect
Boholanos are sometimes looked down by non-Boholanos in exaggerating the use of "j" in speaking the local dialect in their own intonation and accent. But to them, the intonation and accent should not be considered a defect; it is a trademark. The example for the “J” in speaking in their local dialect is “wa jamo” means that “I don’t have nothing” Every town, province or even every country for that matter has its own intonation and accent in speaking their own language and that the Boholanos are proud of that they have their own, a symbol and identification that they are real Boholanos. So, they have nothing to fear for being discriminate. Instead they have to preserve it and embrace it more.
Bohlano’s has a different kind of Fiesta Celebration
The month of May is a fiesta fever for Boholanos. No day passes without being celebrated elsewhere in Bohol town or barangay. It is a tradition that has been inculcated in their minds. Wherever they are, be it Manila, Mindanao, Cebu, or even abroad, they do not fail to go home just to attend the fiesta celebration and for family reunion. That was my mother told me they will always find a way to go home and reunite with their love ones. It becomes a part of Boholano religiosity and hospitality that every family regardless of financial status prepares a fattened pig every year for the entertainment of relatives and friends from nearby towns and even strangers. Once, the provincial government, and even the church tried to edict the lavish preparation of the fiesta celebration requiring only "fiesta de misa", not "fiesta de la mesa". But church injunction failed to overrule the Boholano's flair for fiesta. Even town ordinances attempted to arrest the tide of fiesta goers but unsuccessful. It failed to dampen the Boholanos' love of fiesta. So, one cannot legislate against tradition
To a Boholano, the fiesta is the highest form of expressing one's self to the community. It is manifested in the way he and his family receive their guests. He feels honored to be able to serve his visitors the best of what he can offer no matter what his financial status is. And when it is his turn to be somebody's guest, he expresses also the best of himself. This form of community interaction surpasses social barriers and thereby enhances friendship, mutual respect, cooperation and strengthens family relation. That is why the value of this tradition has been kept in the hearts of true Boholanos for so many generations. Bohol has been regarded by some visitors and tourists as the "fiesta capital" of the Philippines --- the real fiesta island.
Bohol uses has a classic bus and many ancestral houses
When we arrive at the port we ride on a classic bus where it is not airconditioned the chair is a wood plank and there is just only one entrance and exit if you feel hot on the bus you just need to wait to move it because the wind will blew your face because the windows off the bus are widely open and also while you where traveling into one place to another you will going to notice that there are a lot of ancestral houses at Bohol the window of the house is made by a  wood with a  sea shell on it and the ancestral house is made of wood and looked old also.
Bohol Preserved the old structure of their churches
When I was a fourth grader I notice that all of their churches are preserved on what they’ve look as the original even though the materials are already different but they are still preserving the original beauty on it like their Santa Monica Church at Alburquerque, Bohol where my grandfather been prayed before he got buried at the cemetery I can say that it is preserved because when I always get back to the hometown of my mother the  design of the church is still the same as before not just at the hometown of my mother but also in other places in bohol
