Remember when I made this post?

I went to go see this movie yesterday night (11/14/2024), and I quite liked it! This movie is likely the best of the last five films I've seen in theatres, and I'm pinning that on the fact that The Wild Robot is a very earnest film. Since I'm unsure if I'll be able to make a full blown video about it, I might as well put my notes out there for y'all below the cut.

On the non-story end of things, this movie's sound design is great! The near-constant soft mechanical whirring of Roz's motion is a really nice auditory touch that I wish more robot media had.

The central plot ends up being very well paced, and the transitions between major story beats are flawless as well.

Roz's initial language barrier with the animals was a neat direction to take for this story. Closer to the end of the story also adds the caveat about the animals needing a translator for what the other bot was saying too! And that's quite neat! I couldn't tell you if it was a hold over from the books or not, but the presence of it was a good (and trope-subversive) inclusion!

My favourite line in this movie comes in when Roz says "Well I got a kid." in the middle of the second act. It's good line with a tinge of humour.

Was making some new nine by sixteen art pieces recently, and these were half of the results!

My recent desire to draw pokemon is in full swing, and I'm quite happy that these turned out so well! The pokemon included in these shots include minccino on one, jirachi on the other, and an approximation of giratina in both~

I also am debating making another pokemon story again, but that's beside the point!

... Huh. What a question! Ima give a top three in ascending order:

Third place would be @namelessfries. He's got the gumption to handle this shit, but also has the skills to not get got.

Second place would be you, @giygas-bandicoot. Similar scenario to Nameless, but you might be less bothered by the quiet.

Top of the top three would be @metal-enjoyer1312, no questions about that. She'd get most everything she wants except for the having to dodge around to not get got part. Yay?

Also FUCK I'd probably have a hellish time were I in that scenario...!

I might have gotten into a video game. And made art for it. Woo hoo!

The game in question is SOMA, and at the same moment I realized the lack of fan art for this game, I also wanted a new lock screen for my mobile device. This was the result!

I keep having problems with creative motivation lately. And it's not even the lack of ideas that's getting to me.

On my end, there's definitely more to the equation than JUST my own dissatisfaction with my creative process. It's mostly been the fact that my mental health has been suffering as a result of [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and [REDACTED], but in more shareable terms, that ends up meaning that my creative process has been borked by the surge of depression I'm dealing with at home.

And that's the root problem.

Best case scenario, an improvement in my living situation will lead back into me feeling better about my creative process/creations in general... But I know it's gonna be a bit.
