i want to ask if you have trusted sources on the Mohican people?
Sure! The name "Mohican" is thought to stem from confusion on the part of James Fenimore Cooper and his book The Last of the Mohicans. Historically, there was the Mahican (Mohican) tribe of New York and the Mohegan tribe of Connecticut (2 entirely separate tribes), which were likely conflated in the book and during its reception. "Mahican" is more common in historical references. "Mohican" is used more often today.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians does use Mohican, which should be respected. I must emphasize that the Mohegan Tribe is, again, entirely separate. I will also stress that there was never a "last of the Mohicans" - these two Tribes have persevered and have active communities today.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians already has quite a bit of historical and cultural information available on their website. Always refer to them first, if possible.
Language resources: 1 2
Here are four textbooks, if you're really invested: 1 2 3 4
Some information about the Seven Years' War (the French and Indian War).
Hendrick Aupaumut's Letter to the New York State Legislature.
Some of the history behind the Last of the Mohicans. Don't use Cooper's book as a reference, though.
The Stockbridge Mohicans/Indians: 1 2
Besides the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians' website, there is little other cultural and spiritual information available. With caution, I suggest referring to the neighboring related Algonquian tribes for that, such as the Lenape. But do take care to not generalize groups and blend them like Cooper did. Natives are not a monolith.
I will also urge you to research the broader context of colonial settlement, westward expansion, and Indigenous displacement during this period, as well as the role of Christian missionaries/preachers and praying towns, wars and colonial policies (e.g., the Indian Proclamation), and tribal relations. There are many nuanced reasons as to why the Stockbridge-Munsee Community is presently located in Wisconsin and not New York.

an ode and all my deep love and respect to some of the sculptures that inspired me, that i kept rotating around, that made it to the first, second, even third drafts, but that ultimately i did not end up using for my silly kinktober project.
the list was long, but these six kept calling back to me. the lines, the forms, the angles, the emotion, the muscle, the movement, the anger, the love. a kiss up to the sky, thanks for keeping me company!
i put so much time and research and practice into these and i just hope that came across if even just a little bit 💙

Snippet!!!
I've been feeling kinda lame about not updating my prom au, but I do have most of the next chapter written! So here's a little bit of insecure Remus & very gentle Sirius!! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the tags @lilacella & @werewolfenthusiast !!
"So,” Sirius spoke as she fiddled with the radio—until it went from static, to a local car dealership ad, to a fuzzy sounding classic rock song that sounded vaguely familiar to Remus, “you need help with one of your classes? You have physics last period right? With Hendricks?”
“Oh. Yeah.” Remus felt her cheeks get warm, and she turned her gaze away from the smooth cut of Sirius’s jaw, down to the shorts of her red overalls.
“You know, I have her with James during third, I could probably go over the questions with you if you want?”
Remus frowned, “Well... I mean I can probably figure it out myself. Or I can use my textbook, I really just wanted her to walk me through it again.”
She frowned harder. Remus hated how defensive she got over James and Sirius trying to help her with school, but it was hard to not feel inadequate when they always just seem to get it when it comes to school.
Remus knows she’s smart, she has years and years of good grades—great even!—to prove it, it’s just that she’s always had to try. To fight for her As and Bs with long nights of studying, and showing up early to class to ask questions. James and Sirius didn’t need to try.
And most of the time, Remus was in awe of her friends—and a little turned on by how smart Sirius could be in class—but times like this, she couldn’t help but think to herself: what exactly do I have to offer?
With a softer voice, Sirius continued: “Yeah I know Moons, but knowing you, you’ll be worried about it clear up until the final, and when you’re worried, you get little crinkles in the middle of your forehead that give you a headache, and the stress radiates off you until it’s absorbed by the rest of us.”
Sirius turned and offered a kind little smile, “So just let me help, okay? Plus, we may very well be busy looking for prom... outfits soon, so you’ll need all the free time you can get.”
It was said with an over-exaggerated eye-roll, but the sentence still sent a little zip of nerves through Remus as she recalled the conversation from the afternoon.
“So...” she began nervously, “you’re thinking about going? To prom, I mean?”
Tagging whoever wants to participate!!!!

Peter in 1964 (photo © Andrew Sandoval); in photo 2, the Phoenix Singers (from left to right: Roy Thompson, Arthur Williams and Ned Wright) are pictured at the October 1964 Denver campaign event mentioned below (photo by Steve Fitzgerald for the Messenger & Inquirer).
“One night, I was sitting around the Kettle of Fish, the private hang-out of the folk singers who live in the Village, and Peter came in with a big grin on his face. ‘Bruce,’ he yelled, ‘I got a job, a real job!’ And when he told me how Lance Wakely (one of the best guitarists on the scene then and now) had gotten him a job backing up the Phoenix Singers, I was really happy for Peter — and he, of course, was overjoyed.” - Bruce Farwell, 16’s The Monkees: Here We Are (1967) “We worked with the Phoenix Singers for about seven months, and during the last couple of months there were bad vibrations in the air. Pete loved to clown around on stage and the Phoenix Singers didn’t dig that. Pete also disliked being ordered around or told what to do. These two elements clashed, and the fireworks that resulted were the following: It was in October 1964, and we had just finished an in-person, fund-raising concert for Lyndon B. Johnson in Denver. As I said, the pressure had been building for several months. Two of the Phoenix Singers didn’t want Pete in the group, but my buddy Ned wanted him to stay because he dug him musically. I had mixed feelings at the time. I agreed that musically Pete was excellent, but I felt that he had to cool it a bit on stage because there was a personality conflict between him and the two Phoenix Singers mentioned. […] [W]e got on the plane to New York. It was on the way from Colorado to New York, at 30,000 feet in the air, that the three Phoenix Singers had a meeting, and two against one (for Ned still dug Pete’s musicianship) they voted Tork out of the group. Peter was quiet for the whole flight, and I could tell he was not very happy. I don’t think he cared about the Phoenix Singers that much, but I think he cared about the security that the job had provided and the fun he had been having on the road. I stayed on with the Phoenix Singers for quite a while, and Pete went on to the old routine down in the Village.” - Lance Wakely, 16 Magazine, April 1967 (More about that Denver campaign event here.) “I played bass as an accompanist for a group called James Hendricks and Vanessa.” - Peter Tork, Off the Record with Steve Escobar

Star Wars and Motorsports - A Surprisingly Intertwined History.
I actually had this blogpost planned out for a rainy day - I thought about maybe doing it for May 4th, 2025 as a Star Wars Day thingie - however, today, James Earl Jones passed away at the age of 93. I knew him as Darth Vader and Mufasa, but he played a lot of roles and provided a lot of iconic voices, others may know him from the Sandlot, Coming to America, or dozens of other roles over the years.
Rest in peace.
In his honor, I'd like to do my little part, so...a discussion of the long and intertwined history of Star Wars and motorsports.
The first relates to Darth Vader himself, as a dark and imposing figure, was associated with Dale Earnhardt in NASCAR. Yup, known as the Intimidator and as the Man in Black already for his iconic black and gray GM Goodwrench #3 Chevy, Dale Earnhardt was also nicknamed the Darth Vader of motorsports a few times in the 1980s and 1990s.
The black helmet and sunglasses played into that.
Somewhat more substantively, there is also the world of Star Wars sponsorships in racing, with Pepsi and Lucasfilm teaming up to sponsor Jeff Gordon at the 1999 CarQuest Auto Parts 400 Busch Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, promoting Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Gordon would suffer a mechanical failure...which is probably for the best because it had Jar-Jar on the left rear quarter panel.
Fast forward to the 2002 Coke 600, also at Charlotte, and Lucasfilm tried again, this time teaming up with Cheerios to sponsor John Andretti in the #43 car in the Cup series. This was the big leagues, and with them backing a midpack car, fifteenth was actually a respectable finish.
For Revenge of the Sith in 2005, the marketing campaign was back in force. First things first, there were four NASCARs that year, starting with both Yates Racing cars at the 2005 Subway Fresh 500 at Phoenix. Elliott Sadler drove the M&Ms #38 with a Dark Chocolate themed Dark Side paint scheme, while his teammate Dale Jarrett had a UPS/Milk Chocolate M&Ms Light Side car. The Dark Side car had Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and a Stormtrooper on it. The Light Side car had Anakin Skywalker, the green M&M with Princess Leia hair, and a C3PO M&M.
Pretty odd character choices for Revenge of the Sith but eh, it's all for fun. Anyway, Sadler finished 11th and Jarrett finished 23rd, so I guess the Dark Side won...which I suppose is appropriate, given the movie they're tying into.
So, at the very next race, Star Wars tried again. Teaming up with Jeff Gordon and Pepsi again, this time it was in the Cup Series, sponsoring the Hendrick Motorsports #24 at the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. This car, with Yoda on the hood, would go on to win the race in dominant fashion, leading 139 laps.
Jeff Gordon would also pose with Darth Vader and some stormtroopers ahead of the race, which seems like a conflict of interest given the Yoda car.
Fallen to the Dark Side, Jeff Gordon has.
Finally, Hendrick Motorsports got another Star Wars car, with Episode III sponsoring Kyle Busch's #5 at the amazingly named Chevy American Revolution 400 at Richmond. This Kellogg's car was Mustafar themed with a lava theme on a black base. It has Darth Vader and Mace Windu on it, which...neither is exactly a great fit for Mustafar, what with Windu being dead and Vader only gaining the iconic armor and red lightsaber because of the events of Mustafar.
Kyle finished fourth, another good result for Star Wars.
This wasn't all though, because at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix in Formula One, Star Wars teamed up with Red Bull Racing to sponsor a car. Much like the Kyle Busch car, it was their regular livery with some orange-yellow Star Wars lettering and a lava/fire theme along the bottom.
Drivers David Coulthard and Vitantonio Liuzzi also got a Star Wars photo op to go with it, this time taking pictures with Darth Vader, two stormtroopers, Chewbacca, C3PO, and also George Lucas himself.
A few years later, at the 2008 Peak Antifreeze Indy Grand Prix at Sonoma, the third to last round of the 2008 Indycar Series, Lucasfilm and Blockbuster (lol) teamed up to sponsor Marco Andretti's #26 car. He would finish fourteenth on that occasion.
This was actually the second collaboration between Marco Andretti, Blockbuster, and Lucasfilm that year, as he actually drove an Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull car at the 2008 Indianapolis 500, finishing third.
More recently, at the 2023 NASCAR Championship Race at Phoenix, Star Wars and Columbia Sportswear teamed up to sponsor the 23XI cars. Bubba Wallace in the #23 ran an X-Wing car and even had Mark Hamill appear in the unveiling commercial, while Tyler Reddick in the #45 ran a TIE Fighter car.
Bubba Wallace finished 10th, and Tyler Reddick finished 22nd.
Two Light Side versus Dark Side races at Phoenix, the Dark Side drew first blood but then the Light Side won most recently. We're gonna need a tiebreaker.
So, that's what I got in terms of Star Wars sponsorships, but that's always been Star Wars going into motorsports. How about motorsports going into Star Wars?
Well, believe it or not, there is an example.
Podracing.
Yup, and not just in the "hey look, it's racing!" way, nope. At the 1998 Miller Lite 200 at Mid-Ohio, George Lucas and his crew recorded the sounds of the CART race to use as part of the sound mix for the podracing scenes in Episode I.
In fact - and unfortunately, I haven't seen the film so I can't confirm - I've seen the claim that the podracing sequence in Episode I mirrors the Monza race from the classic Formula One movie Grand Prix, which George Lucas is actually credited on as an assistant camera operator - which would lend some credence to the theory.
So yeah, I know I've kept this blog motorsports focused but I am a big Star Wars fan and have been for most of my life. To hear about James Earl Jones passing it's...it's just like...wow. It's unthinkable in a way. Obviously, he was getting older and all that, and there was that story a few years ago about him selling his voice rights to Disney, but like...to think that Darth Vader's voice actor is dead? That's crazy to me.
It's one of the biggest losses in recent media history, I think.
There will never be another voice quite that famous.

I'm devastated. They just announced that PAFA is closing their college (degree earning programs) after this academic year.
While they're continuing the museum, certificate programs, commitment to K-12 arts programs and continuing education classes —the college and graduate degrees are ending.
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is the first and oldest art school in the United States. And the college is closing.
So so many famous artists attended or taught at PAFA!! All kinds of them too! Thomas Eakins. Mary Cassatt!!!!! Mike Berenstain (son of Stan and Jan, who took on illustrating the Berenstain Bears!). Apparently David Lynch? Don Martin! Howard Pyle!! Barkley L. Hendricks! James Metcalf, Henry O. Tanner, William Rush, Sarah Peale, Anna Peale, Jessie Willcox Smith, Maxfield Parrish, Henrietta Myers Miller (known professionally as Peter Miller). Thomas Cole. Robert Henri. Cecelia Beaux.
(it is also the first and oldest museum in the US, which thankfully isn't also being closed).
I wish the US funded the arts better. The college deserves to be saved as an iconic and immensely influential american institution, similar to the Smithsonian network of museums — with government funding. Hell, congress people should be FIGHTING to bail out PAFA, sustain it and treat it as a PAFA-Smithsonian arts institute funded by the government. Or SOMETHING. :(
It's going to close after reaching 220 years.

Blake Shelton returns with ‘ For Recreational Use Only’ - The Music Universe
The project makes his first with BBR Music Group
After nearly four years since his last studio album, Blake Shelton is back with For Recreational Use Only, his highly anticipated debut for BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, set for release May 9th.
Leading the charge is the Top 10 hit single “Texas,” which has already resonated with fans and country radio alike.
“It’s been a long time since we had a new album out, and I want to thank the songwriters and musicians who helped bring this record to life,” states Shelton. “Scott [Hendricks] and I have been working on this music for years, and I’m beyond excited to finally share it with the fans.”
The song “Let Him In Anyway,” available now, offers another powerful preview of the album. The emotionally gripping ballad tells the story of a man hoping for divine forgiveness for a lost friend who was just shy of redemption.
“‘Let Him In Anyway’ is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever had the chance to record,” adds Shelton. “Hardy is a co-writer and a friend, and I’ve never heard a song like this before. When I first listened to it, I knew it was something special. It’s an honor to bring it to life, and I’m incredibly proud of the record we made.”
Spanning 12 tracks, For Recreational Use Only captures life’s highs and lows with authentic storytelling, raw emotion and unforgettable melodies. The album also features special guest appearances from superstar Gwen Stefani, country legend John Anderson and longtime friend and tourmate Craig Morgan.
Currently on the road with his sold-out Friends & Heroes Tour, Shelton is joined by an all-star lineup, including Craig Morgan, Deana Carter, Trace Adkins and Emily Ann Roberts. The tour is more than just a concert—it’s a magical, multigenerational celebration of country music, bringing together legendary voices and rising stars for an unforgettable night of music and storytelling.

It looks like they have arrived in Austin — Texas. Curious it sounds like the hotel gym in Kentucky was not to her liking. She needs something bigger with a tons of equipment in Austin like her boss.
Tumblr media
Now she's settling into an Airbnb in Austin that doesn't have a fancy gym, and where she has to improvise to show that she knows how to prepare a Vesper Americano 🍸 I hope she knows the measures 😏
Tumblr media
Cocchi Americano, is an Italian 🇮🇹 aperitif, substituting the original Kina Lillet (which isn't made anymore) in Vesper martinis 🍸 You can substitute Kina Blanc (Lillet Blanc) or Cocchi Americano that’s known for its bitter taste, it has more quinine bitterness than Lillet Blanc with a touch more spiced while Lillet Blanc is smooth and floral with a touch of citrus.
By the way, She is preparing with “Reyka Vodka” and Sassenach gin which has too much pine-tasting. Reyka vodka well in a Vesper includes Tanqueray, Beefeater, Bombay Sapphire or Hendricks Gin. All are London Dry Gin Perfectly balanced.
Tumblr media
The Vesper, the cocktail was originally made of gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet. also known as the Vesper Martini, was invented by Ian Fleming for James Bond, in the book and all its sequences film the recipe is the same.

Favorite Takes - DC
Where I cite my personal favorite non-source material (so film, TV, and video games only) adaptations of some comic book characters.
Tumblr media
Clark Kent/Superman
Superman The Movie & Sequels (Christopher Reeve)
All Star Superman (James Denton)
DC Animated Universe (Tim Daly, George Newbern)
My Adventures With Superman (Jack Quaid)
CW DC Universe (Tyler Hoechlin, Brandon Routh)
NOTE: I was never the biggest fan of Dean Cain from Lois & Clark so he couldn't get on here, Tom Welling from Smallville might've been a contender had his character and story not got so bastardized, and the less said of poor Henry Cavill from the DCEU, the better.
Tumblr media
Lois Lane
DC Animated Universe (Dana Delany)
All Star Superman (Christina Hendricks)
Superman The Movie & Sequels (Margot Kidder)
TV Versions (Terri Hatcher, Erica Durance, and Elizabeth Tulloch)
My Adventures With Superman (Alice Lee)
Tumblr media
Lex Luthor
DC Animated Universe (Clancy Brown)
All Star Superman (Anthony LePaglia)
Smallville (Michael Rosenbaum)
CW DC Universe (Jon Cryer, Michael Cudlitz)
DC DTV Universe(s) (James Marsters, Jason Isaacs)
JLA (James Woods) & Young Justice (Mark Rolston)
NOTE: The last two get a split spot since one of them's got the voice of an evil political fascist while the other got his character mangled in later seasons to be a bad parallel to an evil political fascist. I also like the Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Stan Jones, Travis Willingham, Fred Tatasciore, Steve Blum, Ranin Wilson, Giancarlo Esposito, Zachary Quinto, Darin De Paul, Lance Reddick, Marc Maron, and Max Mittelman versions of Lex, and await to see Nicholas Hoult's.
Tumblr media
Jimmy Olsen
Batman: The Brave & The Bold (Alexander Polinsky)
DC Animated Universe (David Kaufman)
My Adventures With Superman (Ishmael Sahid)
Superman Returns (Sam Huntington)
All Star Superman (Matthew Gray Gubler)
Tumblr media
Supergirl
DC Animated Universe (Nicolle Tom)
DC Superhero Girls (Anais Fairweather)
My Adventures With Superman (Kiana Madeira)
CW DC Universe (Melissa Benoist)
Supergirl '84 Film (Helen Slater)
Tumblr media
Brainiac
DC Animated Universe (Corey Burton)
My Adventures With Superman (Michael Emerson)
Injustice Series (Jeffrey Combs)
Superman Unbound (John Noble)
TV Versions (James Marsters and Blake Ritson)
Tumblr media
Bruce Wayne/Batman
DC Animated Universe (Kevin Conroy)
Under The Red Hood & Young Justice (Bruce Greenwood)
The Batman Trilogy (Robert Pattinson)
The Dark Knight Trilogy (Christian Bale)
Batman: The Brave & The Bold (Diedrich Bader)
Batman '66 (Adam West)
NOTE: I really wanted David Mazouz from Gotham on here, but he had to compete with these other Bruces who were actually full time Batmen, so consider him an honorable mention. I also like Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and Ben Affleck as Batman, but there were some problems with their particular iterations. Other runner ups include the other Kevin Conroy Batmen (particularly Arkham and Injustice), Rino Romano, Jeremy Sisto, Daran Norris, Anthony Ruivivar, Ben McKenzie, Jason O'Mara, Troy Baker, Peter Weller, Jensen Anckles, Keanu Reeves, Ethan Hawke, and of course the LEGO Batman(s).
Tumblr media
Alfred Pennyworth
Burton-Shumacher Films (Michael Gough)
The Dark Knight Trilogy (Michael Caine)
DC Animated Universe (Clive Revill, Efrem Zimbalist Jr.)
The Batman (Alastair Duncan)
Arkham Series (Martin Jarvis)
Gotham (Sean Pertwee) and The Batman Trilogy (Andy Serkis)
NOTE: Other great Alfreds include James Garrett, Brian George, JB Blanc, David McCallum, Enn Reitel, Anthony Head, Ralph Fiennes, Nolan North, Tom Hollander, Jason Watkins, and Jeremy Irons.
Tumblr media
James Gordon
DC Animated Universe (Bob Hastings)
Batman Year One (Bryan Cranston)
The Dark Knight Trilogy (Gary Oldman)
The Batman Trilogy (Jeffrey Wright)
Beware The Batman (Kurtwood Smith)
Batman '66 (Neil Hamilton, Jim Ward)
Tumblr media
Barbara Gordon
DC Animated Universe (Melissa Gilbert, Mary Kay Bergman, Tara Strong)
Arkham Series & Injustice Series (Kimberly Brooks)

The Batman Trilogy (Paul Dano)
The Batman (Robert Englund)

Batman: Caped Crusader (Diedrich Bader)
Batman: The Brave & The Bold (James Remar)

Batman: Caped Crusader (Jamie Chung)
NOTE: Meghan Strange in Batman: The Brave & The Bold, Jenny Slate in The LEGO Batman Movie, Laura Post in the Telltale games, and Melissa Rauch in Batman and Harley Quinn are also great, and I've no doubt Lady Gaga could've really rocked it too but....yeah.
Tumblr media
Ra's Al Ghul
DC Animated Universe (David Warner)
Gotham (Alexander Sidigg)
The Dark Knight Trilogy (Liam Neeson)
Batman: The Brave & The Bold (Peter Woodward)

Gotham (BD Wong)
The Batman (Frank Gorshin, Richard Green)
Strange Days Short (Brian George)
Batman '66 (Jim Ward)
DC Animated Universe (Ray Buktenica)
NOTE: William Salyers in Gotham By Gaslight is fine as well but his part is too secondary. Young Justice Strange is the only one I dislike.
Tumblr media

Wonder Woman DTV (Keri Russell)
Wonder Woman '76 (Lynda Carter)
DCEU (Gal Gadot)
Young Justice (Maggie Q)
Batman: The Brave & The Bold (Vicki Lewis)

Injustice Series (Michael Leon Wooley)
DTV Universe(s) (Andre Baugher, Bruce Thomas, Tony Todd)

NOTE: I discount Steve Blum from the DTV Universe(s) 'cause what the fuck was that, and Ray Porter in the DCEU was tragically ill-fated.

Hi,
I make period drama style gifs. If you use gif packs, please like and reblog them.
Unfortunately, business transactions via PayPal are not available in my country, which makes it impossible to purchase GIF packs on Payhip.com. If you would like to purchase a GIF pack, please send the amount to [email protected]. Also, make sure to include the name of the GIF pack you want in a personal message, and I will send it to you via email.
Most of my projects are already ready, but every day I post no more than 190 gifs. Because that was the reason why my previous account was blocked. I tried to make gif packs in a format more familiar to you with a link to a separate page. However, unfortunately, I did not succeed because of the large format of high-quality gifs.
I want to explain about color processing. Usually, I improve the contrast, brightness and saturation, but leave the naturalness of the film. I don't make the contours too sharp because I like the aesthetic of it looking like a natural image.
