i want to ask if you have trusted sources on the Mohican people?
Sure! The name "Mohican" is thought to stem from confusion on the part of James Fenimore Cooper and his book The Last of the Mohicans. Historically, there was the Mahican (Mohican) tribe of New York and the Mohegan tribe of Connecticut (2 entirely separate tribes), which were likely conflated in the book and during its reception. "Mahican" is more common in historical references. "Mohican" is used more often today.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians does use Mohican, which should be respected. I must emphasize that the Mohegan Tribe is, again, entirely separate. I will also stress that there was never a "last of the Mohicans" - these two Tribes have persevered and have active communities today.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians already has quite a bit of historical and cultural information available on their website. Always refer to them first, if possible.
Language resources: 1 2
Here are four textbooks, if you're really invested: 1 2 3 4
Some information about the Seven Years' War (the French and Indian War).
Hendrick Aupaumut's Letter to the New York State Legislature.
Some of the history behind the Last of the Mohicans. Don't use Cooper's book as a reference, though.
The Stockbridge Mohicans/Indians: 1 2
Besides the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians' website, there is little other cultural and spiritual information available. With caution, I suggest referring to the neighboring related Algonquian tribes for that, such as the Lenape. But do take care to not generalize groups and blend them like Cooper did. Natives are not a monolith.
I will also urge you to research the broader context of colonial settlement, westward expansion, and Indigenous displacement during this period, as well as the role of Christian missionaries/preachers and praying towns, wars and colonial policies (e.g., the Indian Proclamation), and tribal relations. There are many nuanced reasons as to why the Stockbridge-Munsee Community is presently located in Wisconsin and not New York.

The first image is of a Stockbridge Indian revolutionary. The last three are of Etow Oh Koam, a Mohican diplomat and one of the four Indian Kings. (The other three were Mohawk.)
#im assuming this is for castlevania lol#olrox & his past lover's stories are based on real history that still has real effects on real Indigenous people#maybe another post on that later idk lol#I say 'Indian' in this post bc I'm ndn#olrox#olrox's past lover#castlevania#castlevania nocturne

How do you feel about the new anime after seeing the teaser? Are you excited, maybe nervous, even worried about the course the anime takes?
I don't think its a remake of the mangas, although the rabbit is a reference to the manga. How do you feel about that? (Honestly I don't mind, itd be nice to have more lore to obsess over. I mostly just want the characters to be done justice and to be characterised properly)
I am very excited, it looks pretty cool so far and i cant wait to see where it goes.
Like you said, i dont think its a remake of any one thing specifically, rather it seems to be taking elements from everywhere in the series all at once for its story and design. (Including the reboot apparently, considering Dante is wearing a necklace that's very close to Donte's necklace.)
Its going to be different, considering it seems to be taking elements from the written material as well (dmc 3 manga, maybe even the novels) more than the games themself, and we dont even know if its going to be canon to the series yet or just its own fun thing (i saw someone saying its in the same universe as castlevania?) But regardless, i still think its going to be absolutely amazing in its own right.
Now i am nervous about one thing: Who did they cast for Vergil.
Its been confirmed he's showing up. I personally cant imagine him as anybody else other than Daniel Southworth, so i hope they casted him for Vergil. If they didnt, then i can only hope that they casted someone just as good (and just as nasally /hj)
I also do think its interesting they cast Nero's dmc 5 VA for Dante. It will definitely take me a bit to get used to it once the anime comes out and im actually watching it, but i dont think its a bad decision by any means. He's a wonderful VA.
And i am very curious to find out who that female voice in the trailer was. At first i assumed it was Patty, but if the anime goes in a younger-dante direction then it wouldnt make sense because Patty wouldn't even exist at that point. My second thought was Lady, which would be amazing to have her show up again (and hopefully have more of a personality other than "dante you owe me money"), but my last thought - if the anime is taking most of its inspiration from the written dmc material - was Grue's daughters. I havent actually finished the dmc 1 novel so idk how true that could be but its a thought at least lol.
Overall i am very excited and the anime seems to be going well. Now we just have to hope expectations live up to reality lol.

One of the problems w nocturne is that now they cant even adapt SotN (the alucard part of it i mean, lol and lmao for Richter n Maria) properly, bc there's no cycle of resurrection nor the same Alucard-Dracula family confict
In the games SotN is Alu being forced to awaken and confront his lineage alone! It's him trading words w his dad and facing him directly
Meanwhile in nfcv: N!Alucard is biased towards his vampire legacy, he is the one to handle the fight and deal the finishing blow to N!Dracula (and stealing what should have been Trey's moment bc useless belmonts amiright) and later when his dad and mom are revived they just. Dont tell him shit and fuck off alone. And he didnt even sleep he just went around killing vampires.
What im trying to say is that the pivotal moments and circumstances that lead to SotN are gone in nfcv. Like why should i care that Alu fights some rando vamp leader? Even if its Drac somehow, this is the Drac that went to live away w his wife and completely forgot abt him and that Alu could have visited at anytime. They already threw SotN elements into the story without regards for the timeline
Meanwhile SotN Alu is grappling w being in the future, with his friends dead, completely convinced that his dad doesnt loves him while Drac is desperate to keep his dear son with him even if he has to cleave his human side with his bare hands. Its a vry tense and raw family relationship that they cant recreate now
It's what I said here: the lore changes in NFCV completely destroyed any chance of the showverse having anything remotely similar to the gameverse. It's such a divergent AU that it became its own thing.
As of now, Nocturne has yet to answer its biggest unanswered question: what did Dracula do in the past three centuries? He ignored his son, probably spent some decades travelling and having kinky sex with Lisa, and then he saw her die of natural causes. What then? His castle has become Alucard's home. Did he... find himself another castle? Did he revert to the hermit he was pre-S1? Did he become a nomad?? Annette doesn't know about him, so I suppose he lived in obscurity. He wasn't even interested in Sun Thundercat's plan, no one mentioned him, he didn't peek to see what the hell was going on in France like Olrox did! Where the hell is he???
And speaking of! We know that Aluc, instead of sealing himself away, stayed around and fought vampires (which means good jorb to you too for killing vampires for centuries and having them still becoming the ruling class), and possibly witnessed the death of his "friends". Now that I think about it, didn't the OG show end with Trevor, Sypha, Alucard and Greta all living together in the new village? I would assume Alucard became something of an honorary uncle to the Trepha kid. But now Richter doesn't know who he is? Did he peace out when Trevor and Sypha died, leaving the Belmont bloodline be?
Anyway, yeah, it is literally impossible to even attempt to recreate the SoTN story. We lack the entirety of the context, we lack the main villain, we lack Richter's and Alucard's intertwined legacy. Which is what makes me think that they won't even try. After all, this supposed adaptation of RoB has more in common with fucking Bloodlines of all games, plus the superfluous backdrop of the French Revolution. They shattered the lore so thoroughly that now they're basically forced to write an AU fanfiction, something on the same level as a high school AU of old.
Remove the whip, and you would never tell Nocturne is supposed to be tied to the Castlevania franchise - hell to the original cartoon.
#anti netflixvania#shock and surprise the games have lore too#and if you start to ignore details for the sake of a forced happy ending or for character favoritism it all crumbles down

Ghost and nighttime! 🌌
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD LOL I NEVER ANSWERED THIS BBY IM SO SORRY
Ghost: A ghost story - ok, so most recent one: I was at the Crescent Hotel and I always heard it's haunted. I thought it'd be overrated. I went around 5:30 PM, aka imo ghostie hours. And around 6 PM (peak ghostie hour imo) I was at the end of this hallway on the 2nd floor by the stairs. I don't know anything or any lore about this place btw. Just that it's haunted. So, by the balcony window there's these 2 women. Suddenly, I get a whiff of cigarettes or tobacco, and I'm like Someone is smoking in their room/on a balcony? But then the smell disappears suddenly after. Um.... tobacco smell doesn't just disappear. It's not perfume, or even weed. Tobacco sticks. This struck me as odd. If someone were smoking in their room, I'd still smell it. If they were smoking on the floor AT ALL, I'd still smell it. So, my witchy senses tingle lol. The girls by the balcony walk off and they don't smell like smoke. I check the window/balcony door - its locked off. No one's been smoking out there, not something material, anyway. I whip out my pendulum and ask "is someone here?" I get a yes. I get the feeling it's male, but don't question it. I ask, "Are you smoking cigarettes?" It says no. I furrow my brow. Odd. I have the feeling to press on. "Are you smoking tobacco?" I ask. It answers yes. I start to understand. "In a pipe? Like a wooden one?" It answers yes again. I thank it for it's time and end the session. My friends drag me away. I have no other experiences in the short time I was there. I assume because of the area we are in, that it could be a native spirit of the land and he was smoking from a wooden pipe. I just didn't think of anything else.
Later that night, I'm intrigued by the experience and looking up the hotel and it's ghostie history. I'm enjoying reading in the car, chillen, feeling spook spook. Suddenly I see "there are sometimes reports of smoke on the 2nd floor. A doctor used to smoke his cherrywood pipe by the balcony because his office was on that floor"
Me:
LISTEN I DID NOT KNOW THAT SHIT WHEN I WALKED IN THERE AND I FUCKING OP-
Anyway. That's my ghostie story.
Nighttime (fave spooky movies/shows):
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (featuring my fave Prudence)
Castlevania (featuring my fave emotional bi necromancer Hector)
Grave Encounters 'cause it's fuckin scary
The Woman in Black (Victorian aesthetics tbh)
As Above So Below (just a really good fun movie)
Bly Manor 🥺🥺

Okay Castlevania Season 3 Thoughts
I’ve been watching it on/off for the past four days since I got busy at points but I just finished it about a hour ago.
(seems like everyone is either shitting on it or liked it lol)
Okay so, it was a fun season as someone who’s played (about half??? ish?????) of the series’ games. There’s a ton of easter eggs and nods, particularly the biggest ones being The Infinite Corridor (of Curse of Darkness fame) and Legion (I’ve only battled them in two games, one being SOTN). I didn’t realize it was Legion until they all started flying up in the air though lol. I’m very much glad that they weren’t all naked though dodndodn. Also the monsters!!! Very good!!!! I loved the Cthulhu one and they even included some of his in game attacks AND THE ANGELS UGHHHHH THEY WERE SO COOL AND THEY HAD THE GAME MUSIC PLAYING TOO
anyways I digress
Okay so plot line wise! I think Issac and Trevor/Sypha’s plotlines were the strongest imo. Just mostly because they both had the most screentime out of the four plotlines.
I don’t think either Alucard’s or Hector’s plotlines were particularly weak (or as weak as people are making them out to be). I think the problem is that since this is a twenty minute episode show, most of the build up shown in their plotlines won’t really pay off until the next season.
Hector is most likely going to go through his Curse of Darkness arc next season, likely whenever Issac launches his assault on the castle- and him being manipulated is the beginning of his arc. He basically realizes at the end of s3 that “Hey, I’m being way too trusting because every single time I place my trust in someone- I get used in the end so I should stop.” And so I think Issac might end up helping Hector unknowingly or unwillingly whenever he reachs Carmilla’s castle but that remains to be seen.
Alucard wise- yeah that sucked but it was needed (though I won’t necessarily agree it should’ve been in that way). I think it’s the beginning of his arc toward the SOTN and later games. The only humans he’s ever known was his mother and Sypha and Trevor and it’s here I’d like to draw a interesting parallel to Sypha and Alucard this season. Both by the end have their expectations betrayed because both unrealistically believe that monsters are bad and humans can never stoop down so low- and are proven very much otherwise by the end of their arcs. Between Castlevania III and SOTN, Alucard is said to have been sleeping the entire time. By SOTN, the only reason he wakes is because something happened in Dracula’s castle. If these are the events that lead up to him putting himself to rest for over a hundred years, I don’t blame the dude.
I’d like to also point to a post I saw earlier drawing parallels between Jesus and Alucard. There’s way too many parallels between them to not say there’s no connection, and that whole post is a good read for anyone interested in it (here’s the link). Anyways, the post points out as of right now, we’re at the point where Jesus is betrayed by his own disciple, Judas gives him the kiss of betrayal, and then Jesus is crucified. Likewise, we have Alucard being betrayed by his own students/disciples, he’s given a kiss of betrayal, and then crucified in literally the same position Jesus was. What happens next in the Bible is Jesus being placed in a tomb (assumed to be dead) and he ‘rests’ for three days and then rises and washes humanity of their sins (very much a brief bad retelling of the Bible but anyways). What’d make the most logical sense is that in Season 4, Alucard lays down to rest only to wake up at the events of Rondo of Blood/SOTN, and then ‘save humanity’ or in this case, Richter- the descendant of the one and only Trevor Belmont- thereby finishing the ‘Jesus Arc.’ While I don’t agree too much on how Ellis went about it, I can see how and why he set up Alucard’s storyline like he did- and it’d be unfair to say that I didn’t see it coming. There’s some really off lines they say at the beginning of the season which already made suspicious of those two, so it’s not exactly like it came out of nowhere- especially given their backstory (though they took it to a extreme I wouldn’t have thought they would).
Other characters wise, god I should’ve seen it coming but I’m sad about the judge character (anyone who follows me knows how into AA I am currently). He seemed so nice, but I realized that was over as soon as he told the monk dude to go to the apple tree because I was like “there’s no way there isn’t a trap for him there.” And then when they showed him falling into the pit, I was like WHELP THAT KID FROM EARLIER IS DEAD. Ugh I hate he’s a serial killer (and may have done more? Don’t want to think about it) and he collects their shoes uGHHH COOL BUT I WISH I KNEW EARLIER I WAS LEGIT GOING TO DRAW THE DUDE BUT IM NOT SURE NOW.
St. Germain was so cool! I loved seeing him (and even more nods to curse of darkness ughhh) and while he wasn’t a time traveller (at least not yet), he was such a treat to watch on screen. I’m very interested to see how he’ll act if he pops up later into the shows timeline, overall he was just a joy to watch on screen interacting with the other characters and I loved watching him talking about snorting mysterious drugs and waking up weeks later not knowing wth happening and of course, the toilet paper.
(Also the lesbian vampires DO own my heart thank you very much)
Anyways!! I didn’t think the season was bad! Still much better than any other plotlines I’ve seen most tv series try to do, so I refuse to say it’s bad writing (at least all of it). I couldn’t tell in Season 2 how this was going to link to any of the later games but I think with the end of Season 3, I’m starting to see how it’s linking together- at least in the way I’m thinking it’ll be. It’s very interesting watching this unfold as someone who’s been playing the games and watching other people losing it especially if they’re unaware of the events of rondo/sotn/ and the games with reincarnated dracula and alucard except now he’s decided to be a secret agent (which I haven’t gotten very far in). I won’t say people are being unfair in saying this was bad, because there are points where I was definitely un-invested, particularly during Alucard’s segments- which I think definitely needed more length and more time dedicated into making the story a lot better than it was- but I do believe despite some of the cons of this season- there was some pros as well.
EDIT: I’d like to also add I don’t think this is the end of St. Germain! If they decide to keep his timetraveling, although Issac and Hector’s roles are basically reversed as of rn, he comes in Curse of Darkness to stop the two from killing eachother so that could also potentially happen in a season 4. Just my thoughts and theories though lol
#castlevania#castlevania anime#long post#my thoughts!#very brief ones though id love to spout off more about this but ugHhh

Hello, what are your favorite anime? Do you have a top 10'
I would have a top ten if I watched more anime than I did so instead I’ll just named the one that I watch? Its mostly main stream ones, so you’ve probably heard most of them but I’ll explain a bit. The first six are all on American Netflix which is where I watched them (or coming to Netflix soon, in One Piece’s case,) for easy watching!
So. Personal ones that I like/love!
1. One Piece. Duh. It caters to me and me personally in literally every way so its my favorite above all other favorites!! Gonna assume you know me via my op stuff so i won’t explain what it’s about beyond PIRATESSS!! I think ive made seperate posts but if anyone wants to ask me why i love op i have an essay in my brain ready to go lol
2. Fullmetal Alchemist! Another popular one but It was my second anime that I ever watched and OH i love it so much! Essentially two brothers atttempt to regain their bodies after treading on God’s territory and hhave to learn to deal with the military, life lessons, and immortal beings ;) I recommend for this one watching both FMA 2003 and FMA: Brotherhood, because FMA expands on a lot more on characterization (especially with Lust!! And Nina!!) while Brotherhood is far better in terms of plot. I personally love both, and the themes it has are really good!
3. One Punch Man! I really only watched one season of this, but the premise is what if someone could defeat anyone with just one punch? Its a satire on fighting in other anime’s and focuses on other character’s fights, slice of life shit, rising complications, and other things. Its fun, and I absolutely love genos.
4. Dragon Pilot! I’ve only watched two episodes of this so far but its a pretty cute show about how a woman in the Japanese Rookie Guard becomes friends with and thhen pilots a Dragon which acts like a jet, and is very fun!
5. Fairy Tail! Baby’s first anime and it still has a place in my heart. In a world of wizard guilds, a celestial wizard finds her way into the legendary Fairy Tail Guild and things get wild from there. I can’t really say anything about how good the series is in terms of worldbuilding or characterization or what not but it does have a lot of feel good moments that had me cheering, and the fanservice moments were easy enough to skip through!
6. Seven Deadly Sins! This one is pretty fun not the best anime i’ll say I’ve ever watched but the fights were fun and I loved the reveals it had! Premise is that the former criminal knights of the kingdom are being regatherd by a Princess to save the kingdom. Uh. Some of the characters (elizabeth) are very annoying but the rest are pretty fun and everybody is just. very powerful and i love it. worst down side is that there are a lot of pervy jokes which i hate :///
Fuck what else do i watch. Shit.
Um. I have also watched Magi: Sinbad (sinbad from the story fights through mystic dungeons) Yuuri On Ice (gay figure skating ?) , and My Hero Academia (hero school but make it traumatic and with poor world building)? Basically all the ones I have easy access too.
My to-watch list is, however:
1. Gintama - samurai and fun shit with a lot of one piece references lmao
2. Castlevania - Vampires?? Thats all i know for this one sorry i want to find out more lmao
3. Lupin the Third - Crime! with fun hijinks! Apperantly!
4. Carole and Tuesday - muscians but in the future and supposedly really sweet.
5. Cowboy bepop - bounty hunters in space
6. Mob Psycho 100 - kid withh pyshic powers find person to help him withh them?
7. Soul Eater - Reaper in training and her weapon which can turn into a person hunt down souls.
And things people Have recommended too me that I probs won’t watch for a while/never watch in general but you mighht find interesting!
1. The Promised Neverland
2. Demon Slayer
3. Sword Art Online (??? my friend really likes this one and i have yet to understand what it is about)
4. Jojo’s bizarre
5. Golden Kamui?Kamuy?
yeah.
Hope that helps anon! my anime list isn’t very big, sorry, I have a short attention span for things im not 100% hooked on so I often drop shit half way through and I prefer reading, so I haven’t really looked for a lot of anime
fuck i do need to watch more shit lmao one piece just took over my life
#hope that helps!#whirlywhat#recs#fuck i do need to start watching gintama i told myself i would and i havent. shit#whirlyanswers#Anonymous

Anyways that’s enough Voltron for the time, Im gonna take a step back and rest cuz that shit hurt
I recommend a lot of people do the same.
I’m gonna rewatch stuff as comfort here’s some recommendations
-Yuri on ice (good rep, nice music, just feel good stuff in general)
-a place further than the universe (this is a must, no romance which might be something you need rn, just honest and real friendships and it’s funny and heartwarming, feel good stuff)
-my hero academia (good action and suspense, insanely lovable characters except mineta lol, just some hella good stuff in general, I’m assuming y’all already know this and if not, what is you doing, watch it)
-CASTLEVANIA (the writing is on ANOTHER LEVEL, on ANOTHER CALIBER THEN MOST WRITING, it has a bit of gore which I think isn’t as bad as it could be, if you have NO tolerance AT ALL then of course don’t watch but if you’re okay with a bit than it’s fine. Personally I think it’s balanced enough with comedy and action that the gore isn’t an issue. That’s just personally. But seriously if you’re in the mood for some good writing, this is it. It is a dark series, it’s an adult cartoon so there’s that to beware of. But the writing is insanely good, the comedy is just perfect it made me laugh so fucking hard and It still does, and the action is Realllllly fucking good as well. Also I need to say that visually the animation is so pretty as well, something not typically seen in adult animation. This show, personally, is the whole package)
I do want to talk about Voltron again at some point but not at the moment. And again I urge some y’all to do the same.

im home w hector? :0
TY I think i answered this one before actually but i will answer it again for the new ppl here!
13. I'm Home: If you and your F/O have ever had to be apart, what's the longest time you've ever been apart from each other? How did you both cope without each other's presence?
This answer has Castlevania spoilers but since it's an older show (like it's been out for a few years) I'm just not gonna spoiler it, also assuming that everyone here has either watched it or just knows about it due to me having Hector as a F/O Lol
Anyways, Hector and Mona were apart for a pretty long time when Hector was captured by Carmilla and basically put in their dungeon, basically he was forced into servitude by them bc Carmilla wanted to use his powers to make herself an army. I kinda alter canon here because there are some things that happen later on that I really don't like (especially with one character) so basically Mona realizes how important he is to her, and they go off to rescue Hector and go like batshit crazy.
Think the plot of Mario games, but it's a small demon person who is ready to KILL ANYTHING to get him back. Hector also realized how important they are to him when he was apart and they end up confessing feelings to each other and becoming a thing when Mona rescues him. They didn't cope very well apart from each other though, especially Hector since his situation called for a lot of despair and hopelessness and he didn't even expect Mona to come rescue him, since it was his job to protect her in the first place, which he haid failed. I think the one thing that kept Mona going was the fact that she knew that with their powers, they were capable of rescuing him.
