Synopsis

My Thoughts

Another anthology, and another really good time!

After reading the 5th volume of the Heart2Heart anthologies, I really meant to go back and start at the beginning. But somehow I found myself with the newest volume instead.

I really liked that the theme was so random, and that the questions were so broad and unique! Each story was so captivating, I had to take a pause in between to truly process them all on their own.

Just like with volume 5, there were definitely some stories that I liked more than others. Definitely some authors that I felt a bit more of a connection with than others. But I can truly say that there wasn’t one single story I disliked at all. I walked away with a few more authors to check out at a later date, as well!

Sometimes, all we need are really good, happy endings, and fuzzy feelings. This anthology definitely offers that in spades. I cannot wait to explore more of these authors, and the earlier editions of these anthologies.

"Seems only fair right?" Clarice chuckled. "We come to you, plans change, now you come to us." She said with a smile. "Don't worry, our drivers make the trip a breeze." It was this little song and dance that they did that made Clarice miss James all the same. There was never a dull moment with him.

Now, the air felt a little lighter. "My assistant is going to leave my contact information, should anything come up. Outstretching her hand for the last time, she smiled. "See you soon...Jimmy.'' She said, almost too naturally. In that split second, it was like she never left. Like what happened between them didn't happen. Just as soon as she reached the door, she turned and smiled.

"I know it must not seem like it but...it was good to see you, Jimmy.'' She said, giving one final courtesy wave before walking out. The next meeting was going to be interesting for sure.

Jim chuckled softly with her and it reminded him of the memories he had of the times they spent laughing together late into the night, sharing wine, and falling into bed together. Losing Clarice was one of the only things Jimmy regretted in his life, though he had too much pride to admit that to anyone but himself.

He could've sworn he saw a speck of something in her eyes, but just as soon as he thought he'd seen it, it had disappeared. Jimmy's brows rose slightly as she spoke, and he couldn't hep the slight smirk that quirked the corner of his lips. "Oh, I'm coming to you now am I?" he questioned with a slight teasing tone.

He didn't mind. Jim didn't believe in "home-court advantage. Advantage belonged to whomever was smarter, more prepared, better. And he always considered himself to be that person. "Ya know," he paused as though he was mulling it over before continuing, "I think I can." he agreed with a slight chuckle.

September's single shots: Her Alibi (dir. Bruce Beresford, 1989)

This unfunny comedy's catchy trailer played on every second VHS cassette I would watch the late 80s–early 90s. Lewis has a fun cameo as one of the court's jury members. Selleck doesn't have fun though.
