Didn't enjoy some of the cheesiness, like the dialogue & so many call backs to the 1st film. The climax & action in the air def saves the movie.

Rookie-Critic's Top 25 Films of 2022: Honorable Mentions - The Phantom of the Open (dir. Craig Roberts)

This was unbelievably charming. Mark Rylance has a softness to him that he seems to able to play in any way he wants you to believe, and he sells it here with a character that it's almost impossible not to love. A golf movie that's not really about golf at all, but about how much heart and determination you put into doing what you want to do. That even if you're not very good (horrible, even) at what you love, as long as you put your whole self into and have fun, it doesn't really matter how good you are. There's also a commentary about the elitism of the golf industry thrown in there for good measure, so that's good as well. I was a particular fan of these dream sequences sprinkled throughout the film that are presented like a film from the 60s or 70s that, while stylistically inconsistent with a lot of the rest of the film, match up very well thematically and bring an even further sense of wonder to the story. This one is just a light-hearted, good time, that took me completely by surprise.

Hoy os traigo una recomendación espectacular si os apetece un thriller. Estuvo en el top 10 de las mejores películas de reparto en el año 2013 y nominada a mejor fotografía.

En mi humilde opinión, debería de haber recibido algún que otro premio más. Tampoco soy una experta del séptimo arte, pero al buscar información sobre los premios recibidos me ha sabido a poco.

Hugh Jackman se sale, interpreta el papel de un padre desesperado por la desaparición de su hija y la amiga de ella. Su interpretación, sobretodo en el momento que habla con Jake Gyllenhaal (quien es quien lleva la investigación) en la sala de la comisaria, llega al corazón.

Por otro lado está mi Paul Dano, que lo descubrí con la película The Batman y desde entonces vi otras películas suyas como Pozos de ambición (también recomendadísima, en inglés: There Will Be Blood). Es un actor que nunca decepciona, tiene una fisionomía y unos gestos de locura que hace que le puedas coger cariño y miedo a la vez. ¿Cómo se consigue hacer eso? Es totalmente un genio de la interpretación. Ojalá algún día se le reconozca como tal.

Al margen de este reparto tan excelente, la película te engancha desde el primer minuto. Piensas además que te sabes la historia, pero te sorprende ya que a mitad de la película te muestra algo que hace dudar de tus suposiciones.

Si te gusta el thriller y el misterio, es una película que no te sabrá a poco.
