Am I going to finish any of these? Maybe. Have I fully fleshed out this universe? Not really. Am I going to keep pulling more random characters into this mess? Absolutely.
Basics of my universe:
Shredder is a dark knight style superhero. Jaded, violent, and compensating for age with advanced tech armor. When mutants start popping up around New York, he investigates, and every time he sees the turtles. This leads him to assume that they are the cause of the mutant outbreak, and he targets them. Along with his sidekick Cassandra jones, shredder battles the turtles as a single minded rage takes him over. Cassandra eventually sees what’s really going on and joins the turtles side.
April is a livestreamer who is deep in the rabbit hole of the mutant outbreak, follows the turtles into the sewer, and befriends them, realizing not all the mutants are evil, she uses her streams with the turtles to show them fighting the bad guys and being heroes. The turtles are desperate to make a name for themselves so they can exist openly in society, and have decided that becoming heroes is their way. splinter is helping them via training and telling them about how the surface world works from his time as a human. April goes WILD at that revelation because “what happened to famous actor Lou jitzu/hamato yoshi” is like a buzzfeed unsolved level conspiracy theory these days.
The real cause of the mutant outbreak is kraang, a scientist whose pursuit of conquest had the utrom scientists she was working with leave her stranded on a random planet (earth) in hopes of never seeing her again. On earth, she seeks to unleash an ancient weapon known as the technodrome, a vehicle that can adapt to any attack and create any weapon. Helping her is Baxter stockman, who is so tired of being overlooked that he doesn’t care if history sees him as a villain as long as history SEES him. Baxter is creating the mutants on kraang’s behalf, commanding them to steal the technology kraang needs to rebuild her body and create the portal to summon the technodrome.
Meanwhile, Cody jones is attempting to send a robot named Serling back in time, terminator style to prevent the apocalyptic future he hails from, where kraang and the technodrome have nearly destroyed the world. (Rottmnt movie Casey SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN CODY and you will not convince me otherwise.)

real-total-drama-takes/760496226248638465/the-real-question-one-must-ask-themselves?source=share
Okay but I genuinely want to hear your answer to this question I found on the confessions blog (with all the F/F ships you ship from this show).
the real question one must ask themselves regarding every TD f/f ship is "which one would get randomly shot by a stray bullet in a gay-burying mainstream network show?"
buffy the vampire slayer is the only gay-burying mainstream network show i've watched but i'm gonna give this my best shot. put the ships in alphabetical order bc why not
betherra - could go either way tbh but im leaning toward beth simply bc sierra would go insane and try to destroy the world buffy the vampire slayer season 6 finale style
bridgney - it would either be bridgette for reasons mentioned above or courtney bc the show couldn't handle her sheer power and had to kill her off
courtnemma - again, emma bc courtney would destroy the world, or courtney to rip away whatever previous arc emma had of softening and opening herself up to love and to make her even more cold and jaded
dawnkota - dawn is 100% getting shot and dakota is in shambles but dawn comes back as a ghost with prophetic visions to further the plot. somehow she still never has a scene with dakota ever again
evzy - eva bc the network couldn't handle her butch lesbian swag
gwourtney - courtney bc the network would want you to sympathize with gwen over her. hardcore gwen fans would be like "my poor blorbo... so sad, all alone" and hardcore courtney fans would be like "SHUT UP MY FUCKING BLORBO DIED" and it would tear the gwourtney shippers apart
jasammy - sammy would so die. jasmine would grieve her for a while and eventually start dating shawn but it's done pretty well and they're a cute couple
jomaria - they would kill off jo and give anne maria a boyfriend the next season and it would suck
kadie - could go either way tbh
lesheather - leshawna bc every single season of td does her dirty. the backlash would be insane but some ppl would defend her getting shot bc it "gives heather a great arc" and the backlash to that would be even crazier. the show gets canceled halfway through the next season.
mkulia - mk bc julia has plot armor. julia would either go full villain or be devastated and all the other characters who hated her would start to feel bad for her and forgive her even though she doesn't deserve it and hasn't apologized, she's just grieving
nichaxel - nichelle so axel can go full angry paranoia doomsday prepper mode and everyone would use that as an excuse to bash her character
prillie - either priya gets killed to discourage millie from being vulnerable ever again or millie gets killed and priya tries to destroy the world but her friends talk her down and they all honor millie's memory together and it's actually really sweet
skyella - ella gets shot and says something like "but this was supposed to be our... happily ever after" and dies in sky's arms. next season dave tries to date sky while she's grieving and she attacks him for it. somehow they end up together in the finale. everyone hates it.
i hope that makes. any sense. if for some reason i missed a f/f ship you've heard me talk about before lmk and ill add it!

You guys wanna see something dumb?
Tumblr media
Please take a look at their swords here. Specifically the hilts. Do you see how they’re wrapped with rope that matches their sparring armor colors?
This screams dramatic Kit moment for me. You’ve got to know that when they were younger they dressed up as heroes and villains while sparring, and Kit absolutely seems like the kind of kid that would play the villain to Jade’s noble quester.
And they’ve just kept doing the silly matching gear even as they’ve grown up.

OK OK. freedom city wards jade cantrip post. powerset and triggers and costume details and everythang!!!! im just copy/pasting this from my draft that has x's and alan's unfinished details in it <3 everyone look at my girl jade framework cantrip
Jade former villain name: Cantrip current hero name: Framework
tinker 8/thinker 4- can understand and perfectly replicate any other tinker device. altering or changing the design or function of the device is where her understanding of the tech wears down, but she has taught herself engineering and technology work outside of her powers in order to help accommodate for this. she can mash different types of tinkertech from different tinkers together to make up for areas in the device she is trying to alter (for example: if copying wavelength's designs for a handheld shocking device, can implement designs of armsmaster's and mash it with wavelength's to make a more compact and discreet shocker), but the more types of tinkertech is involved in her designs, the more overwhelming and difficult her devices are for her to create. subject to frequent headaches when working on large projects. she is limited to technology and mechanics only, which means she can't copy tinker work of bonesaw, blasto, or anyone else whose specialty isn't based in technology.
backstory/trigger
her parents were both capes who died in a behemoth attack, and ruby and jade ended up bouncing around foster homes. they're both very standoffish and have been pinned as "difficult kids" in the system. while ruby coped with the death of their parents by getting really into capes, jade began to hate the protectorate and everything they stand for, which led to her and ruby fighting a lot, with jade blaming their parents' deaths on the protectorate and prt themselves.
the built up stress of jumping through foster homes, never having any money or resources of their own, and never having anyone else to rely on but each other, eventually caused jade to trigger after a particularly bad fight with ruby when they were 15. after realizing she had powers, she started looking for minor rogue work she could do for money, with the intent to save up enough so she and ruby wouldn't be left with nothing after inevitably aging out of the foster system.
she and doug worked for overlord for maybe a couple years. she was mostly made to build weapons, armor, bombs, and other gear, and was rarely sent out on missions. she eventually left overlord to join a cape fighting ring, where she met xavier and alan. all three of them were eventually caught by the protectorate, and they were all given the opportunity to join the freedom city wards on probation.
costumes!!!
her villain costume is similar to canon, where she wore fantasy inspired rogue gear. on missions, her costumes were all black, with a hood over her head and a black scarf around her lower face. she downplayed the extent of her powers with overlord because she was paranoid about being involved in capes at all, so her powers weren't used to their full potential.
her hero costume is a mecha robot she built, mostly based on dragon and defiant's armor with other functions and aesthetic choices taken from other tinkers' work. the mecha itself is mostly purple with black accents and has various weapons hidden in it, including laser guns, swords, knives, etc.
out of her mech, her costume is a more compact suit of armor with aesthetic inspiration taken from gauntlet's old suits of armor. she made it through 3d printing designs of gauntlet's armor and painting them. she couldn't use her tinker powers to make it out of metal the way gauntlet would because of her limitations, but she made her armor look like his to give the illusion that she can copy any tinker's work no matter their specialty. she typically only wears this armor under her mech for extra protection in intense fights like with endbringers or the s9. other than that, it's mostly for public appearances.

Arnaea, The Voice of The Empire
Tumblr media
The sworn lord of Outis and apprentice to Vritra, The Destroyer. Empress Arnaea, young as she is at a mere 25 years of age, governs her people with an iron fist.
One guided by concern for her people but but an iron fist nonetheless.
The Empire is a haven to all those scorned by the light, banished from their homes or with no home to call their own. A congregation of the misbegotten, villainous and oppressed and Empress Arnaea is its inheritor.
Taking up the mantle after her predecessor and parent succumbed to the parasitic spirit with which they originally carved out the empire's current position of power, Arnaea ordered a mask be forged from the corrupted remnants of the former ruler's armor.
A reminder to all those who saw her whose whose daughter she was and a reminder to herself of mistakes not to be repeated. With the skills and knowledge taught to her by the now retired imperial archmage, Vritra, there are little who would challenge or scheme against her.
The few that do always meet a very grisly end through Outis, Arnaea's ever faithful shadow and loyal confidant. She is one of the only people to have ever seen the general's face.
The circumstances and extent of their relationship are unknown besides that Outis was appointed as the right hand of the empress following her return, coronation and the departure of Archmage Vritra. With Outis' assistance, any doubts of her suitability to rule were very quickly silenced.
The two, as jaded and cold as they were to the world and its future, knew they would always have each other, both to support and to be supported by.

Titan Ombra
Template by lovely @malicedragoness <3
Note: This is so close to “Rise of the Villains: Darker than Black” ending but it’s not the same. So yeah, minor spoilers ahead! Also, this is not proofread.
Title: Ombra the Ironhead, Goddess of knowledge and revenge
Motto: “I infect their minds like a deadly desease.”
Powers:
Ferrokinesis - Ombra has full control over iron, but she can also manipulate other kinds of metals without being able to create them out of thin air.
Gift of Knowledge - Ombra is able to manipulate the minds of those she has chosen to make them “aware”, or in other words, grant them the awakening. Once the awakening has happened, that person unearths the arcane knowledge of the universe whether in just a second (by Ombra) or a lifetime.
Call of rebellion - Ombra gathered an army of angry people all around the tealms to rebel against the cult. She can do that now with less effort.
Realm they favor: Not a realm, but Quan Chi’s timeline. Also, she tends to spend more time in Metalrealm since she used to live there most of her life.
Places of Worship: There are temples all over the realms in which people can go to and pray. At the beginning of her timeline, Ombra was unsure about whether make herself known to her creatures, or keep her identity classified. But then she realized that it’s for the best to do what the Elder Gods did in the previous timeline. So Ombra created her own cult and religion in order to control the creatures. That was exactly what she fought against in the previous timeline, but she came to realize that she was stuck in a loop. There was no escaping this eroded system. Gradually, she watched herself turn into something she used to hate with every bits of her being.
Consort: Titan!Quan Chi is now her unofficial official husband. They found each other again after eons of loneliness and anticipation. However, Ombra made sure that the Quan Chi in her timeline has the good life he deserves.
Physical Appearance: Ombra now has short hair - it’s pretty short on the left side close to her forehead, and it gradually grows longer as it circles around her head to her right side -. Her left eye is golden, and the skin around it is gray with golden edges and veins as though it was exploded. The scars on her cheeks which grow from her iron jaw are golden as well.
Armor/Style of clothing: Ombra remains loyal to the style she used to have in the previous timeline. She’s almost always is seen to be wearing a black overcoat which makes her look a bit huge. Underneath that she wears customized vest with gothic elements, a shirt or a turtleneck. As for shoes, Ombra wears knee-high punk/gothic boots.
Weapons: Ombra doesn’t really need any weapons as she is able to create a lot of them with her powers. However, when it comes to her weapon of choice, Ombra prefers a gunblade. She can manipulate the blade while also shooting those who have dared to wrong her.
How does Geras help them/regard them: They have a love-hate kind of relationship. Geras a admires her calculated and intelligent character, but he also knows what she did in the previous timeline - causing an apocalypse -. At first he tried his best to stop her from executing her new plan: killing the remaining cultists and aiding the deadly alliance. But now he feels like his mindset is gradually becoming like Ombra’s. She’s the one in control after all.
Any characters or events that have drastically changed that you would like to mention?:
1. Quan Chi is the protector of the Netherrealm because he deserves the best.
2. Her parents are alive and have a good life without her. She just watches them from afar.
3. Shao Kahn is the protector of Outworld.
4. Jerrod and Sindel rule Edenia, and Kitana is their only daughter. Then Kitana falls in love with Jade, her bodyguard.
5. Hotaru is the protector of Orderrealm.
6. Havik is the protector of Chaosrealm.
7. Shirai Ryu doesn’t exist.
8. Raiden and Fujin are Ombra’s butlers.
9. Tarkatans are a race of people who live somewhere far from the cities of Outworld. Mileena is their princess.
Backstory/Notes/Tidbits:
The whole world was pouring down my fingers, splitting in between them. The Elder Gods were clawing at the last rope of chance to save their throne, never accepting that it was already too late. Cetrion had sheltered behind her mother, begging her to end me. Little did she know that I would never be dead really. Thousands of me was born all across their realms with sharpened teeth, ready to follow my footsteps. However, I was left with no choice but to fight Kronika in combat.
After the keeper of time turned into solid stone before my eyes, and was shattered to dust, I kneeled down. The blood staining my overcoat was almost invisible. It was only Kronika’s dust which shone like stars over this black sky.
Now I was the keeper of time. This uninvited responsibility of restarting the whole timeline and creating the new one fell heavy on my already exhausted shoulders. It was true what they said about people like me. We fought with monsters only to turn into one. Now I was one of them, exactly. It was all a cycle perhaps.
But I was granted with the greatest power. The reality would bend to my will. I would keep chasing any remaining cultists, and remind them who was their worst nightmare. And I would only hope that one day, I’d shroud myself in Quan Chi’s arms with a peaceful mind.

With Season 5 concluded, will you be doing a best and worst akuma designs created by Gabriel Agreste of each season?
Alright everybody it’s time for Gale’s
Akuma fashion show a Go Go
And rules as follows
1. They will be rated only for the season they appeared in, so unless they get a redesign or updated look they don’t count
2. For each season I will be ranking one best and one worst.
3. These are the opinions Based Solely on asthetic, I will not be taking into account their powers or abilities, or even if they are my favorite akuma.
4. Akuma only, so no heroes villains or sentimonsters.
_________________________________________
Season 1 Best and Worst
Best: Stormy weather
Tumblr media
What can I say, the look is iconic for a reason, she set the bar high and she always blows away the competition.
The twisting hair, the purple dress and slick akuma shaped mask. Also the choice of weapon.
Worst: Animan
Tumblr media
The problem is he has no original form. Vanisher also has the same problem but his just seems lazier considering he gets to be the main akuma in an episode.
Not much to say except do better
Season 2 Best and Worst
Best: Reverser
Tumblr media
I love the symmetry of his design. It’s something Death the kid and Thanos would agree with. The asthetic works so well and while I’m grading on looks it’s neat how his power factors in.
Marc knocked it out of the park with this design
Worst: Gigatitan
Tumblr media
It’s boring. It’s so standard that it’s not even bad. Some of the designs this season were weird but I can’t say they were awful. But this one is just bland. I will probably forget it after I post this
Season 3 Best and worst
Best: Desperada
Tumblr media
I want to specify this is Solely asthetic. She isn’t my favorite akuma and the episode she is in is divisive, but I love her look. The music theme and bad ass rocker make up with touches of Gold. Different instrument weapons. Brilliant aesthetic.
Worst: Loveater
Tumblr media
Season 3 had a lot of not that great designs but Loveater is a horrific monster. And is still the UGLIEST akuma to this day. It’s the embodiment of what a toxic relationship looks like.
Season 4 Best and worst
Best: Qilin
Tumblr media
Originally I was going to put wishmaker on here, but Damn does this design Slap! And there are some solid designs. I just wish the episode debut was better. Outside of that, it’s just a cool armor and the glowing jade eyes are cool.
Worst: Ephemeral
Tumblr media
If Loveater is the visual representation of a toxic relationship, Ephemeral is the visual representation of Child abuse. The design looks so wrong, looking like a neon grape and the sad look on his face sells it. While even the ugliest designs have some charm, this is just a crime to look at.
Season 5 Best and Worst
Best: Safari
Tumblr media
It’s the best akuma design. The Hunter/Lara Croft tomb raider asthetic. The shades, then boots. The way her hair looks. The fit got me acting up. Plus while it’s unrelated to the asthetic, the way she tells Monarch to f*** off, and Provides the kwami swap episode we deserved. Easiest pick for me.
Worst: Sans-Culotte
Tumblr media
She looks like a glob of toothpaste. I feel like she was in a Aquafresh commercial and while I get what they were going for… I hate the design. It doesn’t look good. It looks like she doesn’t have a nose.

Roleplaying Races 15: Munavri
Tumblr media
(art by Catilus on DeviantArt)
On Monday we looked at the caligni, and now it’s time to look at one final example of Azlanti survivors that were changed by their exodus. However, unlike many such survivors, the muavri were not corrupted or degenerated by the transformation, and are a rare bastion of good and righteousness in the often cutthroat world that is the Darklands.
Descended from Azlanti sailors that were ambushed and abducted by the alghollthu in the wake of Earthfall, they were dragged down into the depths along the Braid, a supernatural waterspout that connects the Arcadian Ocean of the surface to the Sightless Sea in the Orv layer of the Darklands below.
Though no doubt the alghollthu had sinister plans for these abductees, perhaps planning on turning them into something similar to the azarketi gillmen, these Azlanti escaped and made use of their skill as sailors to ply the dark ocean aboard violet-sailed vessels made from carved ivory, where they settled on floating islands of a strange, jade-like substance.
This jade is highly psychically reactive, which made it unbearable for the alghollthu and many of their minions to approach, making it a sanctuary for these survivors. Over the generations, they adapted to the darkness and constant psychic power around them, becoming powerful and canny mystics in their own right as they prove a nearly inassailable nuisance to drow, alghollthu, urdefhans, and other villainous cultures in the depths.
Munavri look mostly human of Azlanti ethnicity, but their skin and hair is bleached of all color, making them seem at first glance to be albino. What’s more, their eyes radiate light from their natural psychic power. They typically wear jade armor chipped form the very gemstones they reside on, as well as leathers tanned from subterranean beasts.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the munavri represent the best of response to hardship a society can have, forging close-knit communities that are there for each other and treat each other like family beyond the bonds of blood, and forgoing brutality for carefully organized resolution of conflicts between their own. They also typically worship the various empyreal lords, with three spiritual leaders, each representing the empyreal lords of a particular celestial clade. Meanwhile, large family units are led by a protector-marshal that governs in the best interest of their people. That’s not to say that there are not dissenters or no room for individuality, but they often do focus on community first and foremost. Additionally, they treat friendly outsiders very well, and are eager to hear about the world outside their lightless nautical realm, especially the surface world.
As beings descended directly from the incredibly hale and brilliant Azlanti, the Munavri boast superior minds and bodies (particularly agility) with the exception of their strength, which is on the weaker side.
They also possess exceptionally long-ranged night-sight as well.
This, however, is coupled with a sensitivity to bright light.
Imbued with psychic magic, munavri have a knack for reading the psychic echoes on objects in particular, gleaning information from them.
They are able to take this even further, however, by reading the memories of how the object was used, allowing them to use unfamiliar weapons and tools with a surprising level of competence for a short while.
Like many Darklands residents, they also possess a bit of innate spell resistance as well, making them hard to affect with hostile magic.
Their psychic abilities also grant them telepathy, though it is limited to communication with other munavri only.
With having a positive bonus to every single stat except for strength, munavri characters can literally excel at any class or archetype combination, even strength-based stuff like barbarians with a little work. Which… will give a lot of GMs pause, and I can imagine many straight-up banning the ancestry outright because of that, or at least restricting it to games where everyone is playing something similarly powerful or higher-level games where such traits are less of an issue. If you do get to play one, consider that nautical options are appropriate for their life on a sunless sea, as well as various classes and archetypes that grant psychic magic as well. But again, they can excel in pretty much any field, so feel free to pick any class combination you like!

Jade Armor tickle headcanons !! ^0^
——————————
Lan Jun Ye/Jade Armor
(first tkl thing for this fandom omg yes lets go!!)
Tumblr media
Ler:
Ohhh she's that kind of extremely playful ler
Always is the first one who's starts the tickle fights in the family
Always on the way to find the lee's death spot
Of course TICKLE FIGHTS WITH FRIENDS, she tickles Alisha and Theo quite often
Had tried to tickle Pearl to cheer her up (even though one time she regretted it-)
Also doesn't lose the chance to give a bit of tickles to her beasticons
And as Jade Armor, even though she's the superheroine who has to do her duty, her ler-self never disappear!
She sometimes uses the tickling to catch the villains off guard so it'll be easier to defeat them
Doesn't show or say it out loud, but she's secretly finds it very hilarious and amusing to see how Crimson Lord, Black Tiger and Xinyan reacts to the tickling
Lee:
She's kind of playfully shy lee
Squeaks quite often while being tickled
Always when ler is going to tickle her, she's backing away, saying "No, no, no, please, no!"
Secretly enjoys being tickled, especially by her family and friends
Alisha and Theo are finds her right spots very quickly, what made her feel very vulnerable
Her beasticons just LOVES to tease her with tickles, and she always trying to be aware when they're gonna do it..
When she's Jade Armor, it's not so easy to found her in a lee mood, but if the ler gets the right second, then it's just the great chance to catch her off guard!
Crimson Lord once used the tickling torture to make her as weak and vulnerable as possible in front of him. And it's worked for some time!
Black Tiger used this technique too. And since she got an ability to became invisible, she got an opportunity to get Jade Armor! >:3
Xinyan also manages to get and tickle her multiple times. He's quite quick and apburt, so he always trying to confuse Jade Armor at first and then takes an advantage of it and catches her off guard
After each times of getting wrecked by villains, poor superheroine Jade Armor feels very embarrassed and somehow ashamed... (but also she secretly enjoys it)
Her most ticklish spots are sides, armpits and belly

1,6,8,11,17 for the ask thing!
Answered #6 in this post, and #8 in this post!
A fanon characterisation that you love
Oh, this took some thought. I went scrolling through my AO3 bookmarks for this one. But at the end of the day I have to go with my good friend @nientedenada's interpretations of Elenwen and Ondolemar in her Q&A style fic: "The Dominion is Here and They're Answering Your Questions" - her take deeply influenced the way I wrote both of these characters in "Hollow Men" as well as just helped to shape the Thalmor into people in my mind, as opposed to stick man villains.
11. Recommend a fic with an unusual/original headcanon or characterisation that you loved
Accidental Double Thalmor Post, but I'm going to have to recommend "Evil is Made of Us" by LeviathansEyes on AO3 for their masterful interpretation of the Thalmor. It's a purely OC-driven fic that's technically a sequel to a much longer fic, but I think it can be enjoyed on it's own easily enough. I had already finished up my own Thalmor-centric fic (Hollow Men) by the time I was reading their work, but I was still SHOOKETH by the end of that story. It was an unflinching look at how "evil" manifests itself, but also how, at the end of the day, people are just people. "Evil" is a concept within the framework of an institution.
17. Something you love that you don’t often share because you’re worried what others will think
Hmm... well, for the most part I'm pretty shameless with most of the stuff I share. I put myself out there in good faith, and generally expect that my work will be taked in good faith in return.
I think, maybe, if I want to be vulnerable for a minute, I'll admit that I tend to meme on Neloth publicly a lot to cover up just how deeply I've been impacted by writing his character. More below the cut, because this turned into a bit of a ramble...
I write Neloth as a low-empathy individual who arguably has a personality disorder (I won't throw around specific labels, as I don't think there is a specific one that I had in mind when going into his stories). My love for Neloth runs incredibly deep because I've been working with this fatally flawed, deeply damaged character who has built his own defences up so impossibly high over hundreds of years that even he is unsure of where his own walls end and the core of himself begins.
And then, to pair him with Teldryn, (which I think most people who only see the ship art or the memes think I just picked two characters and smashed them together for fun or because Hee Hoo Gay, which... isn't a lie, but it isn't the whole truth either). I write Teldryn as an endlessly compassionate person beneath the armor he's been forced to wear (literally and figuratively) over the years. The Nerevarine Prophecy left him questioning his own place in the world with a terrible case of impostor syndrome, and then the Red Year absolutely ripped out his heart (no pun intended??) and left him feeling that everything he did amounted to nothing. So he's cynical and jaded, he's hiring himself out as a merc, he has every reason to hate the gods and the life that's been thrust upon him. And then, for whatever reason, when I put him and Neloth in a room together for long enough, they somehow managed to crack through each others' shells. And it wasn't pretty at first, and, hell, it wasn't even romantic. But it happened. And sometimes, writing can be magic like that.
So here's Teldryn, a literal hero, giving this (by all accounts) terrible person a chance to show that he's capable of both receiving and giving love, actually. And that love can look a little different in everyone. And augH GOD, I HAVE A FUCKING CHARACTER TYPE, OK???
Anyways, tl;dr -- Neloth is actually more than just my special little meow meow babygirl blorbo, he is my shadow self, my darkest reflection, the opposite of everything I strive to be and everything I fear becoming. And I think, by writing him as still being worthy of love and companionship and joy, I'm writing to let myself know that I am also worthy of such things.

post of all my thoughts on the Skybound Transformers comic, where i actually go into WHY i like it
NOT SPOILER-FREE I wanna ramble freely abt this!!
i mean tbh all i have so far is praise but i just wanna ramble about specifically WHY i like it ykno
ok so first off the brutality…I've seen ppl complain abt that but honestly i LOVE it. I like this story establishing the tone and stakes RIGHT away. I was like OH okay it's going to be THIS kind of comic (in a good way). the comics being darker is smth i've always liked.
what's more I feel like it establishes the gravity of the decepticons being there. like...I don't think, in ANY TF thing, I have ever really felt FEAR for the human characters. so...starscream squishing a guy into GOO on-panel was a big OH moment. the danger feels tangible
which brings me into my thoughts on the decepticons and like...listen, i am the FIRST in line for stories about sympathetic decepticons and morally grey autobots. but i am absolutely LOVING how delightfully sadistic starscream is. it's about time he was an actual threat again
as much as i enjoy the misunderstood/underdog decepticon stories…they are the villains. that has always been their purpose in TF as an entire concept (besides SG i guess). so letting them BE villains and be just WHOLLY awful people like ooh i can get into this 👌
they're awful in a realistic way too, at least to me. like i enjoy how cartoonishly ~evil~ the decepticons are in like, the og g1 cartoon, but i'd never describe g1 starscream as "sadistic". but HERE?? in this comic?? absolutely would describe him that way. and it's amazing
which like…I am also glad for a story that doesn't pull its punches and give "important" characters plot armor. like i was FULLY shocked at not only the characters that (supposedly) died, but how brutally they died as well. again, great way to establish stakes
energy/resources scarcity is also something i'm glad is touched upon by this story right out the gate, you can FEEL the desperation from BOTH sides. it's something that's baked into the concept since g1, but i feel like g1 doesn't FULLY explore that yknow
the amount of horror i felt watching soundwave and starscream rip skywarp apart out of sheer desperation? yeah that SHOOK me, and i LOVE when stories can do that. that was horrific and really went a long way in showing just how desperate cybertronians have become and what lines the cons are willing to cross. rip though god, was hoping skywarp was finally gonna get to do something LMAOO 💀💀
but also on the other hand…wow a continuity where CLIFFJUMPER gets to do something and doesn't die immediately?? revolutionary, good for him
and i have seen a lot of people praising this specifically and i have to agree that i LOVE how this optimus prime is written. he's so kind and gentle, with an absolute WONDER for the beauty of organic life and willingness to protect creatures he JUST met. i love that so much??
i've been so jaded abt OP for a while and only recently started liking him bc i have issues with how he's written in…a LOT of continuities lol. but this is such good OP characterization. not my FAVE, like honestly my fave OP is more like Tired Annoyed Dad, but this is SO good
uhh I think that's all my thoughts. tl;dr i am LOVING this comic so so much so far, the fact that i can ramble THIS much about it when there are only 4 issues out is a great thing imo, i am so excited to see where this story goes!
(and I'm hoping maybe someday I can work on them myself ahdlfsjh i am gonna try my hardest to make that happen)

Mortal Kombat: 3rd Timeline - brainstorming so far
This 3rd timeline has three protagonists - Liu Kang, Kuai Liang/Scorpion and Johnny Cage. The overall timeline borrows some ideas and elements from Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) and even the scrapped ideas for MK8 (before it became MK vs DC), but it's still about the fight for the fate of the realms.
Johnny's character is heavily retooled. He is still a brash film actor, but he is much more likable and aware of the situation (think Linden Ashby in the 1995 film). Much like in the early ideas for my AU, he is descended from an Edenian cult that migrated to Earthrealm. The Shadow energy is downplayed as it's a mere ability he has due to being descended from Edenians rather than being a plot armor device like in MKX. Kitana is his love interest after she learns about his abilities and lineage.
Liu Kang is still a major figure in the story, but he shares the focus with Johnny and Kuai Liang here. His partnership with Kung Lao is still intact, and they are both chosen by the White Lotus Society to defend Earthrealm in Mortal Kombat, but there are also some big changes. Jade is now Liu Kang's love interest, and I was thinking of having General Shao be his primary rival.
Kuai Liang is Scorpion, like in MK1, but he's now a rogue Lin Kuei assassin turned member of the Shirai Ryu. His primary goal is revenge on Bi Han/Sub-Zero for killing their father. He also runs into Sonya Blade, who is now an officer instead of a lieutenant (she still has connections to the Special Forces). Sonya becomes Kuai's love interest, and sort of learns the Shirai Ryu teachings and history from him.
Raiden and Fujin are both protectors of the realms (Geras might be one of them too), and they gather the best fighters in the realms to prepare them for the forthcoming battles to prevent total annihilation.
Outworld is still the main threat, but I did think of having Shang Tsung be the ruler, sort of like his Titan counterpart, except I would indeed discard the concept of Titans for this version. General Shao is his reigning champion, and they are hellbent on conquering the realms. Shang Tsung is also the one who betrayed Onaga and killed him in order to take over. I also have plans for Onaga as a future threat.
Kano is a much bigger threat than what he used to be. He is now a cybernetically enhanced warlord (think King Kano in the Snow Blind movie), and his rivalry with both Jax and Sonya is still intact, but I would want him to be more menacing than for him to be a simple jobber like in the NRS timeline.
Characters like Goro, Reptile and Baraka are Outworld natives who are now much more morally grey instead of being outright villains. Reptile is still a native of Zaterra who wishes to restore his realm, but Goro is a respected prince, and Baraka is a Tarkatan who looks over his village. Also, none of that weird stuff where Tarkatans are diseased people.
Speaking of which, Mileena is now Kitana's sister, but she's cursed by Shang Tsung to the point where she has Tarkatan DNA. This version is actually more sympathetic while still being very bloodthirsty. Kitana is also seeking to cure her, despite their rivalry.
I wouldn't have Rule 63 Cyrax or Sektor though, and I would have Noob Saibot be Kuai and Bi Han's dead father. Also, Hanzo is still very much the Shirai Ryu grandmaster, who is sort of like a surrogate father figure to Kuai after taking him in.
The idea with this timeline was indeed to be as different from the canon as possible while still maintaining the spirit of MK. If you don't like these ideas, it's all good.

Note
you have me curious about phoebus and what he did to be rejected (if you feel like talking about it)
Ok so. I didn't think this through at all because he's a character from a webcomic project that's currently in development and we don't really want to spoil the fun before the story starts. But I checked with my friend/co-writer Iana and she authorized me to share the following:
This is a story about a dragon who threatens to destroy a kingdom, a princess locked in a tower, and the prince-knight in shining armor who comes to save the day. The knight's name is Phoebus, a young adult with a charming smile and years of training in slaying magical creatures.
This is not his story. This is the dragon's story.
Codename "Misdragon" (the misadventures of the dragon princess and her emotional support boy -- working title) is a fantasy pastiche-parody romcom of medieval fairy tales with heavy inspiration from greek and roman mythology, bad (complimentary) fantasy webtoons and other things. It both celebrates and subverts the genre conventions because Iana and I are both huge fantasyheads and love playing around with these ideas.
Phoebus of Apollyon is the main antagonist in Misdragon, embodying the archetypes of Prince Charming and the White Knight. He was inspired by the greek myth of Theseus, as well as a couple other villainous characters I consider to be spoilers. The idea of his character was to get a hero archetype, completely unchanged, and reframe him to be an absolutely despicable villain. And we did that by placing him directly against our protagonist and designated Minotaur, the dragon princess Jade of Scherling Kingdom. (A lot about Jade goes into spoiler territory, but Phoebus' arrival is the worst thing to happen to her, and trust me she's gone through a lot)
Design-wise, I struggled for a bit but eventually landed on something meant to evoke both "white hair and trauma" male leads from webtoons and some JRPG heroes. He was super fun to figure out; so much of his design was dictated by what we have in his backstory which has HUGE third act spoilers so unfortunately I can't discuss it here. Instead take this exchange between me and Iana (who at this point had found Phoebus' character and what he represents so repugnant that she couldn't think about him without getting angry and had to hand him over so I'm the one to write him):

But the short of it is: i love my horrible son

coates scene, innocence, fairytales
also something i forgot to reference is that orc and astrid are jaded romantics—she describes her past self as an innocent with romantic daydreams, and drake mockingly asks orc if he’s astrid’s “knight in shining armor” and if she’ll fulfill that staple of courtly tales of chivalry, a “kiss [on] his big gravel face.” orc doesn’t refute this, because it’s implicitly true. both astrid and orc are just kids with little to no experience with real world romance. they’re still innocent. they rely on the framework of narratives/archetypes they’ve consumed to illustrate their desires and wants because that’s all they know.
astrid can’t have sex with sam because it doesn’t fit her romantic conceptions of what her first time should be like. she refuses to capitulate even when it contributes to ending her relationship with sam. if her ideas of what her story should be like don’t fit reality, she throws it out. she can’t take anything less, her idealism has been too worn down to concede any more.
orc knows he’s a monster. he’s resigned to this fact and he thus tries to kill himself over it. he goes to astrid to protect her from drake, knowing the latter hates her. but he doesn’t end up saving her from the human crew, even when she’s calling out to him; it’s edilio that does that. still, he goes with her to coates, joining her in her exile, because she’ll be safe from drake there. orc is still her implied protector just by virtue of his presence. a monster in love with the beautiful maiden—that’s an image echoed by many fairytales and fables.
but the monster always turns into a prince at the end. and orc isn’t a noble monster, anyway—he leers at his ostensible love, more like a villain than a hero. and why not? in orc’s unhappy eyes he is the villain. the savage. and a villain can’t be criticized for performing his role. hence the bounding up the stairs. he’s not astrid’s knight in shining armor, he’s the monster who’s going to consume her and her innocence.
drake’s arrival jolts things back into place. drake is the true monster who wants to hurt astrid, not orc. that’s what he tells himself. he recognizes his hypocrisy— “but wasn’t he going to do the same thing to astrid?”—but it hurts to dwell on. so he doesn’t.
drake realizes orc’s violent, sexually charged impulse for what it is. he rejects the idea of orc being a platonic protector of astrid because he knows that’s not what orc is. he’s a monster just like him. they’re more alike than they realize.
astrid hasn’t been attacked, but she has still suffered a painful loss of innocence. she’s killed her brother. how villainous is that? so she rejects the christian framework altogether (another set of archetypes and morals wrapped up in narratives). she doesn’t fit, so she throws herself out. she plunges into the unknown, both physically and spiritually, to piece her identity back together.
