Y/N : “Did your parents name you Jack because you’re adorable with puppy dog eyes or because of the curse ?”
Jack : “What ?”
Y/N : “What what ?”
Jack : “I don’t understand your question.”
Y/N : “I… Jack Russell… Like the, you know… You know.”
Jack : “Huh ?”
Y/N : “Um…”
Ted : growls, rolling his eyes
Jack: "I'm kidding, amor ! Actually, my parents named me Jacob Russoff, and changed my name when we came to America."
Y/N : "Oh ! Okay… Wait, my question still stands."
Jack : "I'll ask my mother, but I'll say it's a coincidence."
Y/N : “As cute and vicious as a dog... First option.”
Ted: growls of approval.

Read the rest of the story HERE!
Without thinking, you start to run toward Jack in an effort to free him from his bonds, but you’re immediately cut short by a quick tug of your hair, pulling you backward.
“Ah ah ah!” Alistair scolds, whipping your neck back to face the ceiling as he practically drags your heels across the floor. “Not so fast, little lamb.” He presses his lips against your scalp, inhaling the fear as it practically radiates off you. “Not until I say so.”
“Leave her out of this, Alistair!” You hear your original lover plead between heavy breaths, his chains clinking together as he tries in vain to break free. “Do what you want with me, but let her go.”
“Oh, I don’t think so.” Alistair grins with delight, each and every one of his sharp teeth glinting in the candlelight as he pulls you toward Jack along with him. “What’s that old colloquialism again, Jack? The forbidden fruit always tastes the sweetest?” He loosens his grip on your hair once there’s barely any space between the three of you, carefully moving a stray strand away from your face before opening his mouth again to speak. “No one tastes quite like her, do they?” His eyes bore into yours, that dangerous draw of his making it impossible for you to look anywhere else as he continues stroking your locks. “And I’m not just talking about her blood.”
You hear Jack growl, the shackles around his wrists jingling as he pulls on them in another futile attempt to escape.
“Oh, you should have seen what we were just up to down the hall.” He pulls his gaze away from you to look at his prisoner, holding his fingers in front of his nose just long enough for him to catch your scent on them before he lets them fall back to his side.
“No,” Jack whimpers in disbelief, shaking his head at the thought. “You didn’t.” He looks at you, pleading for a different story but you’re too ashamed to give him one. Instead you only look at your feet, avoiding any further eye contact as he chooses to address Alistair directly. “You hypnotized her, enchanted her, you had to…”
“Did I?” He winks, leaning in toward him as the harsh truth hangs silently in the air between them. “Maybe she just finally came to her senses,” he smirks, narrowly dodging Jack gnashing his teeth.
“Oh, and you won’t be able to get out those silver chains, Jackie Boy.” He releases you all together, traipsing into the center of the room as he leaves you to your own devices. “Or should I say ‘Jacob’? Jacob Russoff, if my research is correct?” He smirks as he lets that extra bit of information sink in, your brow furrowing in exponential confusion. “I ordered these restraints special off the dark web; pure silver spikes should keep you from even thinking about turning while you’re down here with us.”
“I’m going to kill you, Alistair. As soon as I get out of these, I swear to God, I’m going to tear you apart.” Jack mutters, ignoring Alistair’s rant.
“Not from where I’m standing, you’re not.” He chuckles, glancing at him for a second before looking over at you. “You know, I thought about killing your beau after I found her… I really did. Just as quickly and ruthlessly as you killed Talia, but that just didn’t seem fair.”
Oh God. Oh no! This isn’t about you. This was NEVER about you. You were just a pawn this whole time to hit Jack where it hurt the most. How could you have been so fucking stupid? How could you have been so selfish?
“It would have been so easy,” he starts his villainous monologue by making his way back over to you. “But then I thought of something better, something more devastating to plague you with in your final moments.” He caresses your face and tugs on your bottom lip, entrancing you again. “Something more fun.” He fingers the hem of your silk gown as it dips into your cleavage, pulling it down far enough to expose the top of your nipples. “She looks amazing in this shade of green, don’t you think, Jacob? It really brings out the cooler tones in her skin, because… if I’m being honest… when I’m done with her, that’s all that she’ll have left.”
Jack growls with a fatal mixture of anger jealousy as he watches his adversary touch you, his face changing in shape as fangs and hair grow and shrink from his head before relinquishing back into his original form.
Alistair only laughs at Jack’s failed attempt at transformation, carefully tracing the outline of his first bite on your neck with his fingertips. “Talia and I had been together for centuries… traveling the world, drinking the blood of every man, woman and child in any country we could book passage to. Until you and your little daywalker friend broke into our home when I was out hunting. When I finally got back later that morning, the love of my life, my partner in crime, was reduced to nothing more than a pile of ashes.”
“Please,” Jack pulls again on his restraints, the spikes underneath them now digging into his skin as droplets of blood splash onto the floor. “Please don’t do this, I’m begging you!”
Alistair grabs onto your chin, squeezing it tightly as he forces you to face him. “Talia didn’t have time to beg for her life. So I thought, wouldn’t it be something if I found the love of your life and somehow made her forget all about you? Your romantic history, your cursed nature, the sound of your voice, or even your name?” He pushes the straps of your dress off your shoulders, guiding you out of the cloth that pools at your feet before grazing his palm over your breast.
You can feel your muscles moving under his silent command, every ounce of resistance you try to put up against him failing as your body does exactly as it’s told. His icy cold grasp surrounds your hips and waist as he draws you in to further torment you both against your will, still speaking to Jack as if you aren’t even in the room.
“Do you know how fast she folded? How quickly she ran into my arms as soon as I erased all those memories of you from her mind? Sure, it took me a while to comb through every interaction, to go through her phone while she slept, to delete every trace of you from existence, but it was worth it, Jacob.” He closes his eyes and smiles, reliving that moment for a minute before opening his eyes again.
“I mean I see why you like her, just based on the things she let me do to her,” he cups your breast before pinching your nipple, drawing out a reflexive moan from your lips that widens his smile. “The things she begged me to do to her were absolutely obscene! Honestly, when I looked back on all of her memories of you, I don’t think you ever got as far as I did. Not even close! You never truly understood her on the level she was so desperate to be seen on.” He taunts him as his hand smooths over your neck again, stopping only to softly caress your cheek. “But I think I’ve grown quite fond of her in the process, and I might even keep you alive long enough for you to watch me turn her. I want you to watch her become everything that you hate before the hunger takes over and it’s just you against your blood thirsty girlfriend.”
Before he has a chance to reply, Alistair kisses you deeply, ignoring Jack’s running starts to break his chains out of their metal fasteners in the wall as his frigid arms surround you completely. His cold embrace intensifies as he bombards you with that euphoric feeling from before, flooding your thoughts with images of you and him together in every heated position imaginable before suddenly pulling back.
A dense and deafening silence fills the air like the calm before a storm, forcing the three of you to pause and stare blankly at each other.
The distant sound of gunfire draws his hands completely away from you, breaking the spell that kept you docile and compliant as your eyes shift back over to Jack. Scattered screams and thuds from three stories up muffled by the thick concrete that encases this room only grow louder with the ding of the elevator down the hall. Quick, heavy footsteps increase in speed and volume before the red door finally swings violently open again, barely hanging on by its hinges.
“Took you long enough,” you hear Jack whisper under his breath with a smile.

Hear me out: no one of sound mind and memory would knowingly name their werewolf kid Jack Russell. Like, I find it so funny that none of the original co-creators ever fessed up to being the one who came up with it; even given the prevalence of eye-rolling puns in comics, they recognized that naming a werewolf character after a breed of dog was just silly.
And sure, you can go the Jacob Russoff route and argue that ‘Jack Russell’ wasn’t the name he was born with, but at some point someone had to make the conscious decision to make that his name. And maybe his mom just didn’t know all that much about dogs, resulting in an unfortunate accident.
Or. His step-father is not also his uncle. I’ve written meta about that before; the upshot is that Jack had a different surname at birth, and then when his mom re-married, everyone in the family took the name ‘Russell,’ resulting in Jack Russell the werewolf. The punny name was not on purpose, it just worked out that way.
Which means we have an opportunity to give Jack a better, different eye-rolling pun of a name! (He chuckled at “I’m be rotting for you,” my man Jack appreciates puns. Why can’t that be a family trait?)
I’ve been working on a ‘Jack London’ pun and would welcome input! If we start with Jack Luna Don____, then when said aloud quickly, my hope is that ‘Lundadon--’ might land somewhere in the ballpark of ‘London.’ However, when I try to look up common Hispanic surnames that start with ‘Don,’ I get a lot of Doñ-- names which don’t have the right pronunciation. I see Dondiego can be a surname, does that work or is it a reach? Is it more common to see it split up into Don Diego? Is there another layer of pun/meaning that could be worked into his last name?
Incidentally, ‘Luna’ is a great name for a werewolf kid and not at all too on-the-nose, because it can be used to justify any number of moon-themed calendars. “Why do you have a watch that tells you the phase of the moon?” “Oh, my middle name is Luna. I’ve always had a lot of moon-themed stuff since I was a kid, people in my family think they’re funny.” Watching Blood Moon on Hulu really drove this point home for me, there’s so much moon imagery in his bedroom but they make it look normal. Incidentally, that film could stand in as a backstory for Jack for anyone looking for alternative inspiration than the comics, just sayin’
(just to be clear, I’m not trying to come up with Jack’s “real name” here - his name is Jack Russell, that’s what he grew up with, it’s what he chooses to go by, it’s what Gael said he was fine with when Giacchino asked how he felt about the name Jack Russell because everyone knows it’s a damn goofy name. This is just ‘what might have been the less-goofy name on his birth certificate?’ For fic purposes.)

Some Backstory!
(According to the comics Wikipedia)
Jack Russell was born Jacob Russoff to Grigory Russoff and his wife (whose name I can't remember, but she's inferred to be Latina in the MCU, making MCU Jack descended from Transylvanian and Latin [likely Mexican] heritage). One of Jack's ancestors was buddy buddy with Dracula, but then they had a fight, and Dracula cursed the Russoff bloodline to be werewolves. Someone in the lineage was able to make the curse dormant, but Grigory reawakened it by messing with a copy of the Darkhold their family possessed. Jack's mom took her children and left. It's a bit unclear, but I believe she remarried a man named Philip Russell who was related to Grigory? Anyway, Philip was a jerk.
Jack turned for the first time when he was 18. His mother died in a car crash the same night.
He has a sister named Lissa.
Lissa is inferred to be the "Once"
That's all I remember, but feel free to fact check me!
Details I noticed on my second and third rewatches of Werewolf By Night
Jack reached out to touch the bloodstone as soon as he got to the funeral. If he hadn't been interrupted, he would've blown his cover immediately and been killed, let alone doing anything to save Ted. He's such an idiot (affectionate)
When he's talking with that Scottish hunter in the beginning, he says, “I can almost smell the blood on your hands.” Foreshadowing much?
What happened to Elsa’s mom? They imply it's something 'terrible'/dishonorable but they never say
When they're all being introduced in the circle and listing how many kills they have, when it comes to Jack the line is “And over 100 deaths. Give it take.” I thought it was interesting how they suddenly used deaths vs kills (especially because Jack probably told them that. Let the angst begin lol)
It says "This end up on coffin" lol
Jack chews on his lip during Ulysses’ speech about the strongest hunters gathering and the crusade against monsters. It's so very subtle but you can see he's nervous
Jack looks scared and concerned when they get told the stone would be put on the monster. It's a split second but his eyes get wide and he goes :o
The set is actually amazing, especially the garden maze
In the tomb Jack gets the most brilliant smile when he says he's "not that kind of hunter" and Elsa says she’s not either. He probably thought she was secretly some kind of monster too for a second because his face literally looks like when a dog sees another dog or when a queer person sees another queer person in public. Like "Hello!! You're like me?? Like me??? Hello! Hi!!"
When talking with Elsa about families, Jack says, “My family was very different.” Why does he say "was???" What happened to his family??? (Another opportunity for angst lol)
In that same conversation, Jack also says, “We think that by doing something specific we cannot be like them.” Why does he want to be different than his family? What specific thing did he do? I need more backstory!!
All the bugs and spiders crawling out of Aunt Frances' tomb was a very nice touch lol
Laura Donnelly's (Elsa’s) acting. She's trembling. She genuinely looks terrified but like she’s making herself be brave anyway. The single tear that rolls down her cheek right before he turns and how she just nods at his apology because she can't trust herself to speak? The way she's made herself as small as possible and is partly covering her head in fear but can't look away as they shoot him? The way her breath keeps hitching because she has no idea if she's going to die or not as she reaches out to touch his face at the end? It's so much more genuine and realistic than other MCU acting I feel. Like ofc the other actors in other projects are talented but I don't feel like they get scared often or get scared in a realistic way. Like if I was trapped in a cage with an angry werewolf, I also would be curled up on the floor crying. 10000/10
Before he turns, Jack says he has “systems” in place to stop himself from turning or at least calm it down. Besides locking himself inside, what are his systems?? I want to know!!!
When Elsa asks if remembering people's scents have ever worked before, Jack immediately shakes his head. Almost as an afterthought, he says “Once.” Who was it??? Why is he still so sad if it worked?? Did they die immediately anyway for some other reason??? Did he not recognize their scent until it was too late??? I NEED BACKSTORY! (and more angst)
When Jack asks to be killed as he is "or there will be no mercy," the old lady, who's name I can't remember, says, “Our system is built on mercy for you.” She genuinely seems to believe it for a second before bursting out laughing and going back to being evil. The story is told from the perspective of those against the hunters, but I want to know what the thought process/justification of the hunters is! Ofc they're doing it to protect innocent people from dying (like they mention) and there is certainly an element of personal gain/ego in it but how do they believe they're having mercy on the monsters themselves? What's the ideology behind it all?
In werewolf form, Jack's eyes glow in the dark but when you get up close, they look like human eyes
The blood on the camera. Such a cool touch
A list of things Ted had at their camp: Two suitcases (one with clothes in it), a sunflower mug, a deck of cards, a cowbell (why is there a cowbell??? lol), a gramophone, a guitar, just the phone part of a phone booth (again, what???), a blanket, and a fire extinguisher
Jack uses both hands to hold the sunflower mug because he's so shaky and tired, he would drop it otherwise
The groans Jack makes as he stands up lol That is also how I sound when I stand up
Jack and Ted's banter on the log. It doesn't matter if you don't know what they're saying, you can instantly tell they're best friends. The way they're laughing and pushing each other and how quickly it switches into annoyance. ...Which only lasts a couple seconds before they're chummy again. True friend conversation
Ted's eyes are really cute in color. His pupils are little star/flower shapes

Jack changed by the light of a full moon. His uncontrollable behavior needs to be cared for. Morbius managed to chain him down to a table, muzzle him, and administer sedatives to calm his animalistic side.

For actually decent MVC ships I thought up:
-As a friendship, BB Hood with Megaman and Roll: 7/10
- Rock would be horrified when he sees a regular mid 19th-century child pull out an uzi...
-But I could see Roll being perfectly fine with it as a cute dynamic.
-BB Hood is repeatedly shown to be batshit insane, though, so pairing the very not-willing robot-murder child with the very-willing human-murder child isn't the easiest thing to do, fanfic-wise. It's also COMPLETE crack.
Jon Talbain x Jack Russell/Jacob Russoff(Werewolf By Night): 9/10
-The idea of two monster-hunters cursed by Lycanthropy falling in love with each other appeals to me.
-*cough cough* Omegaverse- *cough cough*
-Genuinely great. Good fanart, probably great crossover material, especially with Moon Knight.
-I love it, but having two bland werewolf monster designs side-by-side is boring.
First crossover ships:
Spiderman x Morrigan: 4/10
-Not that great. MVC is a GREAT series, but shipping characters? Eh. Morrigan and Spidey as friends sounds funny (Especially if we take black Cat into account), but romantically, it just can't work.
-Also, don't ask about Black Cat x Morrigan, because it's ALSO a 4/10.
Ryu x Cyclops: 4/10
-Made this up based on the MVC collection box art, and Captain Commando x Captain America isn't appealing to me.
-Honestly, still kind of boring. Same problem with Sonic x anyone, but doubled. Two basic protagonists in a relationship, whoop de fucking do.

March 28
Chthon, a demonic Elder God who was the Earth's first practitioner of black magic, was the principal author of the Darkhold. The book is first shown in Marvel Spotlight #4 (March 28, 1972). Being academic, Chthon wrote all his collected knowledge of magic into the iron-bound scrolls that served as the first form of the Darkhold. It remained as the Darkhold after most of the Elder Gods were slain by the Demogorge except for Chthon and Set. The Darkhold's power is so vast it took the combined strength and will of both Merlin and St. Brendan to contain it. Even together, they were unable to destroy it or its power. Humans first found the Darkhold during the time before Atlantis sunk into the ocean. When Kull slew Thulsa Doom, Doom's followers, the Darkholders, used the Darkhold to create the first vampire, Varnae, dying due to wounds suffered in battle with Kull. Varnae consumed one of the Darkholders who attempted to command him, and began creating other vampires. After the Hyborian Age, Egyptians, Babylonians, and Hebrews came to possess the Darkhold scrolls. Morgan Le Fay bound the scrolls into book form for the first time circa the 7th century. It is around this time they were translated from Chthon's arcane script into Latin. The Darkhold was also responsible for the curse of the werewolf; an 18th-century man named Grigori Russoff had been tainted by the Darkhold, and was subsequently bitten by a werewolf who served Dracula. Grigori passed this curse of lycanthropy on to his descendents, including eventually Gregor Russoff and his son Jacob Russoff.

Jack Russell --> Greyston Holt
Jacob Russoff was the elder of two children sired by Gregor Russoff, a Transylvanian baron and scholar. Russoff's ancestor Grigori first brought lycanthropy (turning into a werewolf) upon the family when in 1795 he tried to avenge his wife, Louisa, by staking the vampire-king Vlad Dracula - he was bitten by a female werewolf in Dracula's service. Because his children were born before that event, Grigori's descendants did not immediately become werewolves themselves; however, the curse on the Russoff family only needed a catalyst to trigger it. In the mid 1950s Gregory Russoff, great-great-grandson of Grigori, acquired a copy of the Darkhold, which includes the secret origin of lycanthropy. By reading that passage, Gregory activated the curse and became a werewolf. He sent his wife, Laura, to her native America with their children for their own protection. Gregory was eventually killed by an angry mob.
Laura Russoff married again, to a man named Philip Russell. Jacob Russoff became Jack Russell, and with his sister Lissa was raised in Los Angeles. When he turned 18, the curse struck him in turn and he became a werewolf. It was revealed a year after Laura's death that Jack and Lissa's step-father was also their father's brother (thus making him their uncle). [more]
