the great pumpkin hunt , andrei svechnikov

note, this fic is part of my 5 days of halloween. check out this masterlist if you're interested. none of the fics in that series are connected. they are all standalone. pair, andrei svehnikov x reader summary, y/n forces andrei to find the perfect pumpkin, even if it takes them all day. warnings, none word count, 610 words

“Come on, come on, come on.” You called over your shoulder to Andrei as you skipped through the aisles of pumpkins.

"Slow down, slow down." He told you.

"No, you gotta move faster, or else all the good pumpkins are gonna get taken." You turned around.

"Y/N, the dogs are running after you and they’re gonna pull off my arm, and I kinda need that, or else we're not gonna be able to keep buying pumpkins.” He joked.

You pouted, but let go of his hand. You wandered around the pumpkin patch, scouting out the perfect pumpkin. Andrei knew this could take all day, so he already bought his apple cider and carried both dog leashes.

Your dogs, Billie and Benny, trotted along beside Andrei. This wasn't Benny's first pumpkin patch, but it was Billie's, so she was sniffing everything in sight.

"Mama's a bit crazy." He whispered to the dogs as you stopped and examined a pumpkin. Billie whined and looked at him sideways, "Don't look at me like that."

Benny barked, catching your attention. You smiled and set the pumpkin down, "Is that the one?" He asked.

"No, but I can feel it. I'm gonna find it soon." You told him.

"Yeah, definitely a weirdo." He looked down at your dogs.

"Hey!" You slapped his shoulder playfully.

"We're hunting for a pumpkin like it's a wild duck."

"Andrei, this makes me happy. I don't judge the things that make you happy. Just do this for me." You told him.

He took in your words and realized he was kinda being mean, so he nodded and followed behind you. The smile you once wore returned, and you leaned forward, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

You turned back around and continued your search for the perfect pumpkin. It took a few hours, but you eventually found it, running back to Andrei, who was sitting on a bale of hay, probably looking like a maniac.

"I found it." You announced, holding up the pumpkin as if it was a trophy.

"You sure? This is the one?" He asked.

"I'm sure." You nodded, beaming at him.

"Okay." He nodded, examining it, "Let's go get checked out." He handed you the dog leashes and walked towards the cashier.

"Wait, what are you doing?"

"I'm paying." He answered as if it were obvious.

"No, it's my pumpkin. I'm paying." You told him.

"Just let me do it. I was being a jerk, so let me do this." You went to protest, but he shook his head and walked away.

"Papa is demanding." You looked down at your dogs. You sighed and followed after Andrei.

You made Andrei hold the pumpkin in his lap as you drove home, "I'm sorry I was such a jerk to you. I didn't mean to be." You looked from Andrei, back to the road.

"It's okay." You smiled.

"No, it's not." He shook his head, "You do all these things for me. The least I can do is go to you to a pumpkin patch to pick a freaking pumpkin."

"Andrei, really, it's fine. I'm always happy to go with you to the games and the practices and the galas and whatever else there is. I love you, and going with you to all those events every day of my life if it meant getting to spend time with you." You smiled, reaching over and grabbing his hand.

He squeezed your hand a little, "I love you."

"I love you, too, Drei." You smiled. He brought your hand up, and pressing a kiss to your knuckles, holding it in his lap.
