First weekend of the forest reopening. Hiked a big 21.5 mile loop north of the Vincent Gulch Divide. Came across a number of hunters with crossbows. Fortunately all the deer I saw today were far away from them. The weather was incredible, thanks autumn! Wyoming, in all its natural glory, has an essence that feels akin to my own wild heart and free-spirited soul 🏔🌬🌊🔥⁣ ⁣ I was a child when I first road tripped across the U.S. We saw many sites in many states and of course passed through Jackson Hole along with the Grand Teton National Park. Since then, I always remembered this region as being the most beautiful, majestic, and captivating place of all. I knew I would return one day. ⁣ ⁣ As Ro and I transitioned from Yellowstone to the Tetons on August 12, we couldn't help but stop for a brief hike through the woods to reach the water's edge at Jackson Lake to take it all in. ⁣It was even better than I remembered. ⁣ It felt so good to lay eyes on that spectacular landscape once again in my life. Daily Waypoint | N 43° 46' 42.9" W 110° 33' 29.6" Cunningham Cabin~Grand Teton National Park—The Cunningham Cabin is a double-pen log cabin in Grand Teton National Park. The cabin was built as a homestead in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and represents an adaptation of an Appalachian building form to the West. The cabin was built just south of Spread Creek by John Pierce Cunningham, who arrived in Jackson Hole in 1885 and subsisted as a trapper until he established the Bar Flying U Ranch in 1888. The Cunninghams left the valley for Idaho in 1928, when land was being acquired for the future Grand Teton National Park. J. Pierce Cunningham was one of the original county commissioners chosen when Teton County was organized in 1923.
