i just want to quickly put out there that i’m not an RP blog! i guess maybe my layout can be a bit confusing but nowhere does it say i am an RP blog, and i have never done an RP post on this blog!
that being said i do have RP blogs: jack harkness ( @cxptained ) and owen harper ( @stickingplasters)  but i am rarely on them anymore - maybe i should try and return at some point? anyway, if you wanna RP with me ask for my discord, i do still write over there but it should be known that i am mutually exclusive with the lovely @blipintiime and @riftborne for the whole TW3 team (except if there’s an owen that wants to write with my jack). but if you’ve got other characters you RP and you wanna throw them at me then go ahead! i am selective, i reserve the right to decline if i don’t think our writing styles don’t mesh but i look at every single blog!
anyway, all this to say this blog is not an RP blog, please do not DM me in character or send me in character asks. thank you!

REVIEW
Tumblr media
Yeah, after this issue, all this Jack Kirby craziness disappears forever. The title would eventually become Superman Family (I think).
The art in this issues is spectacular, even the ones inked by Royer. Vince Colletta, a very controversial figure, would be removed from the fourth world titles, as he tended to erase characters from the background to speed up the process. He also showed inked pages around the Marvel offices, months before the first one was published. Pencillers in general didn’t like how he inked them.
Hard to tell with these pages.
The story is all over the place. It is easy to get lost because the layouts are not story-friendly. A change of scene can happen on the second panel of a page. Characters go from being miniaturized to full size in no time. It’s crazy all over. There is just too many ideas thrown at the reader, and not much character development.
It was a nice touch, though, that Superman got to visit Supertown.
I give these issues a score of 7

hi bingo friend! five questions for u and ur ocs :) — valiantgentle
1. do you ever put little easter eggs into your fics?
2. what is your favorite platform for reading/writing fic?
3. how do you come up with fic titles?
4. what's your favorite trope?
5. what is georgia's favorite book?
Hi, thanks for the questions!
1. Absolutely! It’s one of my favourite things to do! I love putting in little obscure references and quotes from the games/books/movies. Weirdly, sometimes it happens in reverse, I’ll put something in and then find out later that its actually canon. I don’t know whether that’s my brain absorbing things unconsciously or what, but it always freaks me out.
2. In terms of writing I use the notes app on my phone so I can write wherever and I really do prefer ao3 for uploading. For reading I like ao3 and tumblr, wattpad is okaayy and I’m not that keen on ff tbh. Purely because the layout of ao3 pleases me and ff layout really annoys me for a reason I can’t pinpoint 😂
3. I wish I knew! I don’t force it, I usually wait for it to come to me, and it feels right. One time I named a fic after a song from Heathers The Musical. Long Overdue is named that because its a play on a library book being overdue. Living Dangerously is a quote from Book!Muldoon. I have no set pattern when it comes to naming fics.
4. I haven’t included this in any of my fics (yet…although it seems perfect for Uncharted) but good guy teams up with bad guy to defeat an even worse bad guy. I love it so much. E.g. Jack Sparrow and Barbossa teaming up to take down the EITC and Davy Jones.
5. Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird. She has a first edition that Sam threatens to burn with his lighter as leverage to get Georgia to help him and Sully. He wouldn’t actually do that, would you Sam? Right? Sam?!

Archie Christmas Spectacular #1
Tumblr media
Archie Christmas Spectacular #1 Archie Comics 2021 Written by Dan Parent & Francis Bonnet Pencils by Dan Parent & Pat & Tim Kennedy Inked by Bob Smith & Jim Amash Coloured by Glenn Whitmore Lettered by Jack Morelli    BRAND NEW STORY: “Jingles Jangled!” It wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit from Jingles! Jingles wants to be part of the Riverdale High Christmas Ball, so he “disguises” himself in human form. He makes quite a splash at the dance, but really hits it off with Veronica’s cousin’s Harper. What happens when he has to reveal his true self to her? Only time will tell!    I will say this, I miss Kevin in these new stories!  He needs to be featured with the gang more especially at a Riverdale High school dance.  I really am a sucker for these one-shots because they have all these stories from across the entire fun of Archie and I’m never quite sure what year some are from.  That these remain as timeless as they are is amazing to me and keeps them such a pure joy to keep reading.  That and no matter if it’s an ungodly early hour, a rainy or snowy day or whether the sun is shining brightly the Riverdale gang always, and I mean always puts a smile on your face.    I love the way that this is being told.  Yes there are four vignettes here but they all seem to really flow from one to another with such ease, kudos to whomever is responsible for making that happen.  The story & plot development in these short stories always amazes me in how complete they are.  The character development never waivers and how we see them through the dialogue, the character interaction and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances is utterly delightful.  The pacing is amazing and as it takes us through each story it manages to feel simply like a natural progression.    The way that we see this book structured is amazing and where the stories are placed and what they contain just seems to be impeccably chosen.  While there really aren’t too many layers within the story to explore, that's okay there really shouldn’t be as this is the perfect all-ages line of books.  There’s something for everyone regardless of age or gender and I have to say I love trying to figure out when the story first appeared based on the outfits we see.  I do have a favourite and that’s the Snow Castle with Veronica in that red number while the story is more recent it’s a definite throwback to old Hollywood glamour.    I’m always amazed by the quality of the work on the interiors.  It doesn’t matter what year the story came out it all looks so similar to each other and that’s classic Archie style.  The linework is strong, crisp and clean and how we see the attention to detail is extremely well rendered.  The backgrounds along with the composition of the panels enhance and expand the moments while also bringing out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story.  The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show such remarkable eyes for storytelling.  The colour work is extraordinary and what Glenn is capable of doing with such solid colours really blows me away.     I love that this is the kind of book that can be passed around the house and talked about at a device free meal by the entire family, regardless of what that family looks like.  One of these days though I’d really like to see an Archie Channukah special come out just because my own holiday would be nice to see celebrated by the Archie gang.  These stories are timeless classics, even the new one, and they represent everything Archie stands for and just brings more than simple holiday cheer.

Rajnish Gambhir Author Interview Family Writing Scotch and Golf Rajnish Gambhir watched first ever film Sound of Music at the age of 5 Rajnish Gambhir is a down to earth guy whose family is his first priority Rajnish Gambhirs priorities are in the order Family Writing Scotch and Golf He is a down-to-earth guy whose family is his first priority. Then his writing followed by Scotch and golf! Meet Rajnish Gambhir. Welcome Rajnish.Your real name and pen name?Rajnish GambhirPlease share some of the best memories of your childhoodTill the age of 9 I lived in a large joint family in a huge ‘haveli’ (built by my late grandfather). My fondest childhood memories are of the years spent in this ‘haveli’ – be it playing cricket with my cousins uncles and friends or going for picnics or participating in festivities together! I also fondly recall watching my first ever film ( ‘Sound of Music’ ) at the age of 5.About your education?Went to St. Paul’s School (Darjeeling) and La Martiniere for Boys (Kolkata) before graduating in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College (Kolkata). What career did you plan during your education days?I always dreamt of becoming a doctor. Even during childhood my favorite possession was a ‘Doctors’ set’ (or sets) that my mother would frequently buy me! What languages you can speak and write?EnglishHindi Punjabi Bengali (though I cannot write in Gurmukhi). What is your biggest source of inspiration in life? The loving bond with my wife and children. What hurts you most in this world? Not that I’m easily hurt. But yes at times when I’m misunderstood by a loved one! If you had to live a day of your life as one of the living dead personality who would it be and why?Rajesh Khanna (of the early seventies). I’m his huge fan – out of his seventeen consecutive hits of the early seventies I don’t think I’ve missed watching even a single one. Reason – To relish the fame of receiving letters ‘written in blood’ by beautiful women!! Also to get the opportunity in having myself filmed opposite Sharmila Tagore for the evergreen romantic number ‘Mere dil mein aaj kya hai’ (Daag). What is your favorite genre and why?Fiction and Biographies. When did you start writing? What is the purpose of your writing?I ‘casually’ wrote throughout my school and college days (basically poetry) – but all confined to my ‘secret diary’. Post marriage I would often choose blank cards and script poetic lines before presenting them to my wife! Presently I am more into novels as writing long stories provides me a platform to share my thoughts with my readers through the characters I have so lovingly created! Which of your work has been published so far? Would you like to share asynopsis of your work?My debut novel ‘A Passion Beyond Extremes’ (Leadstart) was published in 2013. The novel is an intriguing love triangle set in Calcutta Darjeeling and Bombay shrouded in a well crafted mystery. The second novel ‘Honour For A Ransom’ has been recently published by Leadstart (March 2016). This is a heartrending love story set in Punjab and England during the pre and post colonial era with ‘honour killing’ as the major theme. What are your forthcoming writings?I’m working on my 3rd novel which will be a romantic thriller. What genres you write in and why?Romance Romantic thrillers – because I have grown up reading these genres. What keeps you motivating towards writing? The urge and curiosity to create interesting characters to shoulder the story I always wanted to tell. If Writing a Book is taken as a project What are the key essentials youtake care of in Project Management?Good editing a striking cover an appealing (but concise) back cover blurb and finally an effective book promotion strategy. How do you plan schedule and monitor your writing commitments?Since I’m not a full time writer I do not have any fixed schedule for writing. For me planning a chapter (or a part of it) along with the layout of the episodes and necessary research on essential facts together with jotting down relevant notes is an absolute pre-requisite. Once these are in place writing becomes easy and then I needn’t have a fixed schedule. It can be early morning or late night or even during office hours (when I’m relatively free!) What are your future plans? To continue with my corporate job and simultaneously write more novels. What is generally your preference in reading a paper book or ebook? Andwhy?Paperbook definitely. The feel of a well published paperbook in your hands cannot be compared to any other format! Secondly I have grown up reading paperbacks and hardbacks since in our younger days e-books didn’t exist. What four top most things you take care of while writing a book?Basic plot characterization climax and flow. I have the first three clearly chalked out (in detail) before even embarking on the first chapter. I try to ensure that every chapter (or part there of) ends on an inquisitive note prompting the reader to eagerly seek what’s next. This is important in order to maintain an engaging ‘flow’ of the story being told. How much real life goes into a fiction writing?Quite a bit. I feel what one has actually experienced can be best expressed in words. Is a high level of imagination important to have for an Author?Yes of course. Your origin of birth and other countries you have visited/ stayed. Whatbest things you liked in these countries around the globe?Origin of birth – Kolkata. Paterson
Tumblr media
A slice of life film, Paterson depicts one week (Monday to Sunday) in the life of Paterson (Adam Driver) who lives in Paterson, New Jersey with his girlfriend Laura (Golshifteh Farahani), his dog Marvin, works as a bus driver for the city, and goes to a bar run by Doc (Barry Shabaka Henley). Aside from the weekend, his days are relatively the same. He wakes up, gets breakfast, goes to work, has a conversation with a fellow employee who's life is in shambles, he drives, he goes home, he has dinner, he walks Marvin, he goes to the bar, and then repeat. Yet, much like life, things change every time. To the untrained eye, particularly when it is your own eye, life barely changes from day-to-day. Capturing this beauty and showing how it changes, Paterson is a simple and down-to-earth film that plays like a poem about life and all of its odd idiosyncrasies.
Paterson is, above all, a film about people. That is the biggest change from the day-to-day. Every morning, Paterson wakes up next to Laura. Every morning, their sleeping position is different. Every morning, he eats breakfast. Every morning, he is eating something different, sitting somewhere new, or the dog is somewhere new. Every morning, he goes to work. Every day, he encounters new people, new sights in the city, new conversations, and new incidents. Every day, he goes home. Every day, Laura made something new for dinner, painted something, or purchased something new. Every day, he walks to the bar with Melvin. Every day, he sees somebody new or has a conversation with a stranger. Every day, he goes to the bar. Every day, he sees new people who are new or familiar faces to him and the conversations or situations are different. Though, on the surface, Paterson is a film about seven days that just repeat themselves like Groundhog Day, each day is vibrantly different. It is a film that celebrates the mundane nature of life, but also the subtle changes that make each day feel new. It is not merely a world defined by the fact that the sun rises every morning and sets every evening. The times of the sunrise and sunset even change each day, symbolic of the slight and practically unnoticeable change of each day. We have our routines, especially Melvin, but things will not always go to plan and things will often change from the day-to-day. Jarmusch's picture is tribute to that and a simple and structurally unique poem to that simplicity.
Tumblr media
Beautifully acted by Adam Driver, the role is incredibly reserved as he plays the quite and meditative Paterson. Constantly writing in his secret notebook of poems, he writes about simple things like a box of matches. He finds the poetry in life and pens poems based upon that simple beauty. Largely not emotive, he is a man that simply goes through life and likes what he likes and what he likes most is poetry. Yet, his reserved nature even applies to his love. He does not read his poems to his girlfriend, he does identify himself as an aspiring poet to people he meets, and he does not want to share his poems with the world. Writing the poems is enough for him, nothing more and nothing less. He is content with his life in Paterson, driving a bus, living with his girlfriend, and going to the bar. His poetry, as it stands, is all he wants it to be. Every inch of his life, even his girlfriend and her obsession with black-and-white, is what he wants it to be. His aspirations are to wake up as himself the next day and to do what he likes, even if it does not conform with the aspirations and dreams of society.
Tumblr media
Yet, what sets Paterson apart is its complete lack of cinematic aspirations. In many ways, Jarmusch's film is like Paterson himself. As Laura pushes him to release his poems, he half-heartedly promises to make copies of the poems. Whenever the audience thinks the film is setting up something via foreshadowing or about to reach a scene of unspeakable tension, the film refuses. With a street tough warning Paterson about how Melvin might get dog jacked, Paterson talking to an aspiring rapper who seems oddly intrigued by the dog, Everett (William Jackson Harper) bringing a gun to the bar, and Paterson's bus breaking down, it feels like the film is constantly foreshadowing or introducing palpable drama. The most common fear is regarding the dog and that fear could be felt in the theater. Left outside the bar as Paterson drinks and pals around, we are constantly left with the belief that Melvin will be stolen. But, inevitably, the screen fades to black and he begins the next day next to Laura in bed. There is even a scene where the door is open and Melvin runs out, but it is shown to be merely part of his routine as he immediately scampers back in. Jarmusch even openly mocks his audience in regards to the bus incident. With it breaking down due to an electical problem, passengers immediately ask if it will blow up. The film seems to play into this by having Paterson tell everybody to stay a good distance away from the bus. When he goes home and tells Laura the bus broke down, she asks if it explodes. At the bar, Doc asks if it exploded and then he and Paterson share a laugh at the thought. The film consistently foreshadows at dramatic and thrilling events, but they never come and the conclusion is merely Jarmusch laughing at the audience with his characters. An explosion? Are you out of your mind? This makes the final frame really the only act of foreshadowing to be found in the film with Paterson waking up again on another Monday. The foreshadowing there merely hints at the fact that his life will continue on like this for the foreseeable future. Things will change from day-to-day, but the general layout will remain unaffected by time.
Poetic, beautifully structured, and defiant to not play into expectations, Paterson feels wholly unique. It is realism with splashes of formalism in the editing via images of Laura appearing via a slight dissolve as Paterson writes a poem about her or the words appearing on the screen. Simple, elegant, and achingly real, Paterson is simply a film about life. Nothing more and nothing less. It is a film that aspires to be what it is and does not pretend to be something it is not.

Original Courthouse during 1862 occupation. Notice Yankee tents and wagons
Starke Miller has reintroduced a chapter of Oxford history that over time has “Gone With the Wind.” The activities that transpired here could fill several novels. On our recent Gettysburg/Sharpsburg/Harpers Ferry/ Franklin expedition, Oxford was anything but forgotten.
HottyToddy.com: Starke, is it correct that Grant arrived here in December 1862 with 50,000 troops or is this our imagination?
Starke Miller: Grant came to Oxford on December 4 and 5 with 50,000 men. Another 30,000 were stationed at College Hill.
HottyToddy.com: What was his objective?
Starke Miller: Grant thought he was going down the Mississippi Central Railroad to take Jackson and then he was going to Vicksburg. He was going to use the railroad for his supply line.
HottyToddy.com: You once told me that if the railroad into Oxford had not been completed in 1859, the war would have never crossed our path in Lafayette County.
Starke Miller: The Rail Road brought overnight mail, same or next day newspapers. It cut travel time from days to hours. It even brought fresh oysters to Oxford. But it also brought the Yankees and all their destruction.
HottyToddy.com: Confederate General Earl Van Dorn somewhat threw a monkey wrench into Grant’s plans. How did this impact Oxford?
Starke Miller: Van Dorn raided Grant’s supply depot at Holly Springs. Grant realized he could never fully protect the rail line or his supplies behind him. He realized he had to go down the Mississippi river to get to Vicksburg. He knew the Confederates could not tear up or burn the River like they could the railroad.
HottyToddy.com: In 1863 more cavalry was passing through Oxford. Which army had control over the town at that time?
Starke Miller: A few thousand Union Cavalry passed through Oxford, one day that summer on their way to wreck the railroad engines, cars, shops and the round house at Grenada. It probably took them at least 3 hours to pass through Oxford. They would have gone into most of the stores on the Square and bought, or stolen, whatever they wanted. There also would have been some harassment of citizens.
1864 Union sketch of the burning of Oxford. Yes, that is a Doctor’s office skeleton a Union Cavalryman had on his horse.
HottyToddy.com: Fast forward to 1864. Union General AJ “Whiskey” Smith was intent on burning the town and Ole Miss. Did he succeed?
General Andrew Jackson Smith
Starke Miller: Smith had burned Ripley one month before, in the same manner, he burned Oxford. He was chasing Nathan Bedford Forrest both times. In Oxford, Forrest had left here two days before and had raided Memphis. Out of anger, I believe, Smith ordered the town of Oxford and the University of Mississippi burned.
HottyToddy.com: Who was Jacob Thompson and why was his mansion significant to Oxford?
Starke Miller: Jacob Thompson was probably the wealthiest man in Oxford with the largest, finest furnished house in Oxford. He had been a member of President Buchanan’s Cabinet before the War. He was a member of Jeff Davis’ government during the War. His fine mansion, with its furniture, nearly all imported from Europe, was burned by A. J. Smith the same day in 1864, the town was burned.
HottyToddy.com: Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was in and out of Oxford a lot. Why so?
Starke Miller: From January to August of 1864 Forrest used Oxford for his headquarters.
HottyToddy.com: Was Thompson truly a Southern spy or is this simply a fabrication orchestrated by abolitionists?
Starke Miller: After the Union Dahlgren raid on Richmond, when it was discovered the Raiders had one of their objectives to kill Jefferson Davis, the Southern gloves came off. Southerners hatched a plan to kidnap Lincoln and Jacob Thompson was sent to Canada, with a large amount of gold, to finance a number of Confederate schemes against the North.
HottyToddy.com: Describe the 1861 Oxford Square.
Starke Miller: Very similar to today in layout. Probably at least half the buildings were wood. The Courthouse was a bit smaller. One very interesting thing I figured out, from the census, was that right at 40% of the business owners and clerks were foreign born. In walking into the stores, you would have heard a lot of different accents.
August 1864 ~ The ruins of Oxford after Union General “Whiskey” Smith burned the town. The white columned building is Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Photo from Jack Case Wilson’s, “Faulkners, Fortunes and Flames”
HottyToddy.com: Did the Yankees declare martial law in Oxford?
Starke Miller: Whenever the Yankees were in town overnight, they would have a dusk to dawn curfew on the townspeople. They did not want pot shots taken at them in the dark and also just for their general security.
HottyToddy.com: Some individuals believe Oxford was burned in retaliation for the destruction of Chambersburg, PA by Confederate troops. Is there any truth to this theory?
Starke Miller: That did happen just before the Yankees came to Oxford. There is a story that the Yankees in Oxford learned of that burning from a Southern newspaper they found in Oxford. But I have an account of a messenger riding up to A. J. Smith, as he sat on his horse on the North side of the Square with the news Forrest had slipped around him to the West and that he had raided Memphis the night before. That is when Smith ordered the town and University burned. I believe it was purely anger. There was NO military need for it.
HottyToddy.com: Looking to 1865, what transpired in postwar Oxford? Was a German immigrant a major player in rebuilding the Square?
Starke Miller: Hermann Wholleben was a 27-year-old blacksmith in Oxford before the War. He joined the 1st Mississippi Cavalry, and he participated in Earl Van Dorn’s raid on Holly Springs in 1862. Instead of grabbing a new saddle or a repeating rifle or a nice Yankee overcoat, or getting drunk, he went to the paymaster’s office and grabbed a sheaf of uncut Yankee $20 bills. After the War, he buys about half the Square and is a very wealthy man. Faulkner used this story in one of his books. Will Lewis (owner of Neilsons) and I believe it also.
Plaque on a building on the Square
HottyToddy.com: An individual, Alfred H. Kendal, who is buried in St. Peter’s was an unsung hero for Oxford and Lafayette County at age 14. Few of us know who he is and why he is important.
Starke Miller: When the Courthouse was fired by Smith’s men in 1864, fourteen year old Alfred Kendal took a wagon up to the door, and he saved most of the marriage, probate and land records out of the courthouse. He was a brave young man.
Starke Miller, a Civil War historian and expert on the University Greys, conducts incredible tours of Oxford; Ole Miss; and St. Peter’s Cemetery. Starke recently directed a tour to Gettysburg, Sharpsburg (Antietam); Harpers Ferry; and Franklin (TN) for me. It exceeded my wildest expectations! This guy is good!!

identity ask #1 - questions 1, 5 and 15.
i apologise in advance i tend to rant a bit
here is the link to the full ask meme.. click it
firstly: yes i am having a nice day thank you very much for asking. i have read through my very long answer about six times, and this as much sense as it will ever make. sorry again
1. if you want to understand me.. part a) to understand me in general - listen to heaps of glass animals- like me, it makes no sense on the surface, and seems interesting when you listen more closely, but can be repetitive. feels generally relaxed but some parts are pretty crazy part b) to understand my personality - watch something that seems kinda cool and edgy to the casual viewer but is actually tedious and annoying to someone who watches the show often (i seem like a cool kid to strangers and new friends but my best friends have to put up with my constant screaming and honestly they seem kind of sick of it) part c) to understand how i speak read something that uses so many metaphors + made up words and phrases that it hardly makes sense - roald dahl is a good choice. also, jack kerouac because he just goes on endless tangents with no full stops. and if the book has lots of swearing in it, that’s great too. definitely read something that has been proof read a billion times but is still shit
5. far out. this question is deep “do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing?”
i don’t really pay much attention to what i do in life? time passes and i just tend to do things and go with it? so i guess im a human being because all i do is.. exist
15. five most influential books: layout: book title, author; how book is influential
1) - maus, art spiegelman; made me a very angry person, and because of this book i hate adolf hitler more than any of the people i know 2) - finding audrey, sophie kinsella; made me more empathetic and understanding 3) - to kill a mockingbird, harper lee; made me more thoughtful and aware of shit that happens in the world because people are afraid of ‘different’
there i did three influential books im really sorry i cant think of any more
boom, done!! thank you for asking me, anon, and i hope you have a lovely day too and somehow manage to decipher my stream of consciousness

Motor Boat & Yachting editor Hugo Andreae (right) and deputy editor Jack Haines present the awards
Take a step behind the scenes of the 2017 Motor Boat Awards.
It's one of the biggest nights in the industry calendar, that this year took place at the Rosewood Hotel in London at the beginning of January.
On the night prizes were handed out for eight boat categories, the Service Award, sponsored by Lombard, which is awarded to a marine company that has provided excellent service to its clients and the Judges' Special Award.
The awards were hosted by Motor Boat & Yachting's editor, Hugo Andreae, and deputy editor, Jack Haines. A panel of five highly experienced marine journalists were responsible for sea-trialling all 47 finalists before selecting the winning craft. The international nature of the event was reflected with winners from Scandinavia, Netherlands, Italy and the UK.
The Finnish-designed Axopar 37 won the 'Sportsboats and RIBs' category, and was described as: “A boat with dazzling performance, effortless seakeeping and cutting edge style with a choice of deck layouts at a price that never ceases to amaze us.”
From Norway, the Marex 310 took the award for the 'Sportscruisers up to 45ft' category. Jack Haines commented: “This boat combines sociable deck spaces with clever detailing and a bright, roomy interior.”
Editor Hugo Andreae presented the award for 'Sportscruisers over 45ft' to the British designed and built Princess V58 for “delivering a truly intoxicating mix of style, sophistication and speed with a party boat deck layout”.
The 'Wheelhouse & Cockpit Cruisers' award went to the outstanding Boarnstream Elegance 1300. This Dutch built cruiser was said to have a stylish and practical deck design with a cool, clean interior that takes the best of Dutch steel boat building and gives it a modern twist.
The category for the best 'Passagemakers' was presented to the Italian built Azimut Magellano 66, a boat that encapsulates everything wanted from a passagemaker: masses of storage space, a safe deck layout and a hull that is comfortable across a wide range of cruising speeds.
The 'Flybridges up to 55ft' category was won by the British built Sunseeker Manhattan 52 for its “spectacular interior, rakish looks and strong performance. A boat bristling with inventive design”.
The British boat builder Princess collected a second award for its Princess 75 Motor Yacht in the 'Flybridges over 55ft' category. It was described as “a boat that doesn't put a foot wrong in any department, with a genuinely entertaining driving experience and a top speed of 35 knots”.
Motor Boat &Yachting's Custom Yacht specialist, Alan Harper, presented the 'Custom Yachts' award to the Italian built Riva 76 Perseo, commenting: “This is a yacht that combines exquisite detailing with effortless performance and a near perfect blend of cutting edge features and timeless style.”
This year the 'Outstanding Service Award', sponsored by Lombard, was presented to Landau UK. This category is based on direct feedback from Motor Boat & Yachting readers who said the company stood out for its concern for customer needs and its technical knowledge which helped customers enjoy their boating experience to the full.
The final award of the evening was the 'Judges' Special Award', which for the first time went to an entire category of people, the 28,000 RNLI volunteers who deliver a world-class emergency service without cost to the end user or the tax payer for no reward and often at great risk to themselves. Hugo Andreae commented: “The skill, bravery and dedication shown by these volunteers in the most demanding circumstances is truly remarkable.”
