Ariadne Blackthorn ✤ Thread Of Gold

Ariadne Blackthorn knew that her life wasn’t her own.  First as Elvina, Lady of the Seelie Court.  Then as Ariadne Blackthorn, Shadowhunter expected to devote her life to the Clave and the LA Institute.  And now, freshly 18, Ariadne’s life belongs to Magnus Bane.  A deal made in infancy, Nerissa pledging her child’s life to Magnus as payment for his work in saving the infant’s life.  One year, that was what Magnus had negotiated.  One year where Ariadne would live in New York, with the High Warlock of Brooklyn, instead of at her Institute.  One year, and then everything could go back to normal.  But a year has a way of changing everything, and a normal night at Pandemonium, a month into her year-long stay, would set off a chain of events determined to destroy any change Ariadne might have had of things ever being normal again.

Shadowhunters Mafia AU world layout

(My version of this AU is free for any fic use, as long as I'm credited and tagged 😙)

•The Lightwood family are the biggest mafia in New York and are well known, even if they've never been prosecuted nor has anyone proven beyond a shadow of a doubt their involvement in various criminal activity. But very people know that the Lightwood family is only the N.Y. branch of a worldwide criminal organisation (the shadowhunters). Maryse and Robert Lightwood are both part of the outer circle of the inner circle so they work at The headquarters of The Clave. The Lightwood family mafia in N.Y. is therefore under the rule/control of the Lightwood's eldest son Alec and his younger siblings Jace and Isabelle.

•Alec Lightwood is the official head of the mafia and there for does not handle the dirty business himself but rather orders it, preferring to remain relatively unknown. He knows about and/or makes every desicion regarding the family's various criminal businesses. Nothing gets done without his knowing. Alec prefers not to get his hands dirty so if you've dragged Alec Lightwood to the field, you know you're doomed.

•Jace Lightwood, better known as Wayland, is the head of the violent part of the business. He hires for and/or takes care of every interrogation, assassination, riot and murder. He's the most temperamental of the Lightwood siblings and it is better not to get on his bad side. He's a charmer and uses that for his and the family's gain.

•Isabelle Lightwood is the most well known in the public eye of all the Lightwood siblings. She oversees the family's public work. Charity fundraisers, balls and various over the table investments are her area of expertise. But do not underestimate her. She's stealthy and ruthless, in both business and violence. She's the diplomat of the family and takes care of hiring most freelancers.

•The warlocks are an organization of freelancers, really. The 'Head Warlock' is informed of all work that comes their way but makes no important decision, except if the warlocks as an organization are under the threat if being exposed. Warlocks obey no one family/clan/gang/person and that is an unspoken agreement throughout the criminal underworld of New York. Warlocks can be hired for assassinations, interrogations, even to proceed with torture. Some are even open for more over the table work, such as security. The most important thing about hiring a warlock is the promise of integrity. No warlock snitches about who hired them, no matter what.

•The vampires are a clan, basically a mafia but less family orientated. Their honest work is mostly in antiques and various private staff (personal doctors, security, cheuffers, etc.). On the other side, they are the main source of drug trade in the state. They are the king pins if the trade. You are either born into it or you are sworn into, but the latter is extremely rare. No main family controls the clan. The leader is chosen by his/hers predecessor. There's a civil animosity between them and the Lightwood mafia but they despise the rough gang members that make their place at the docks (werewolves).

•The werewolves are neither a clan nor a mafia, but rather a gang (a cross between a street gang and a motorcycle gang). They are not a family ruled gang but welcome anyone who goes through a vigorous loyalty trial. But they are both the smallest and the most tightly knit of the four main 'groups'. The members are like family and loyalty is valued more than anything. They are the least 'criminal' but have bad rep with property damage and public misdemeaner.
