Time for a lore dump about Therese bc why not:

She is Rhaenyra’s eldest child (even though she and Tristan are twins, she was born first).

She has Targaryen eyes, but otherwise looks quite Northern.

When Therese and Tristan were legitimized by Viserys, Therese requested to take the name of her mother’s house (House Targaryen) instead of her father’s. Viserys granted her request, because he could never refuse his granddaughter, but aside from her title as Princess, being Rhaenyra’s daughter, she can hold no claims that a true born child could, at least not as first in line.

Shortly after arriving in King’s Landing, Therese gained a dragon, a black she-dragon which she named Nightwing. She was a small dragon, but she was also quick and maneuverable, and, most importantly, nearly impossible to see at night.

Therese was married to Aegon before Helaena. The match was made in an attempt to join the two branches of the Targaryen family, and at first, everything was fine. Therese eventually ended up getting pregnant and having a daughter, Vaella (who deserves the world), but in that time, a rift formed between her and Aegon when he began sleeping with other women and showing his true colors. After several months of trying to ignore it, Therese decided she had had enough and went to Viserys, demanding he end the marriage, as she refused to be “a broodmare for Aegon to cast aside whenever he likes”. Viserys reluctantly obliged, allowing Therese to leave for Dragonstone, but she had to leave Vaela behind. Aegon never forgave her for it.

She had an affair with Criston Cole while married to Aegon (and there’s a LOT to unpack there, because it was not a good thing).

Not long after arriving on Dragonstone, she married Jace.

By the end of the Dance, she had three children by Jace, Aemma and a pair of twins, Lucerys and Daenaera. Their descendants still live on in House Dormaire in the time of GoT.

She goes North with Jace and becomes good friends with Cregan and Alysanne.

She is exceptionally skilled with a bow. As a wedding present when she married Jace, she was gifted a gorgeously crafted bow called “Dragon Feather”. It is still kept by House Dormaire by the time of the events of GoT.

She is also incredibly intelligent and was often present during Rhaenyra’s council meetings, as her mother deeply valued her insight and advice.

She died shortly after the death of Jace and the birth of her twins. Almost immediately after giving birth, she sought out Aemond in the Riverlands, seeking vengeance for her family, and the two engaged in battle in the sky with their dragons. It was a fierce battle, but it came to an abrupt end when Therese slipped from her saddle and fell to her death.

Her last words were “Valar morghulis”.

Her remains were placed in the Sept of Baelor, although there also exists a place for her in the crypt of Raven’s Keep up North.

By the time of GoT, several bardic songs exist about her: “On the Wings of Winter”, which is about her Northern roots and time in the North, and “The Raven and the Dragon”, which is about her romance with Jace.

i've seen so many of your posts about soaring higher + as the raven flies and i'm desperate to hear more about (at least) one of them!!

Ahhhh thank you so much for the ask I could talk about both of these fics for hours!

Soaring Higher is my hotd fic spawned from a collab with my friend (much like As the Raven Flies), and it focuses on three different OCs, Kaleb Dormaire and his children, Tristan and Therese during the Dance of Dragons. They all get involved in the Targaryen family drama, and it’s so wonderful and tragic and I love it.

Kaleb has romantic ties with both Rhaenyra (the mother of his children) and Alicent, which leads to a lot of complexity for all three of them that I am absolutely obsessed with and cannot wait to get into writing. Therese is involved with several men (ahem, Aegon and Criston) before ultimately finding happiness with Jacaerys that is very short lived, while Tristan has a very sweet and very tragic forbidden romance with Helaena. They all warm my heart and make me want to cry at the same time because ahhh they all deserve happy lives and none of them get it.

As the Raven Flies is my GoT fic that is basically just an excuse for me to write ocs to romance most of my favorite characters in the show because I can. The four main characters are all siblings and are actually descendants of the Soaring Higher Dormaire cast: Alistair, Nadya, Victyr, and Erwyn Dormaire. Nadya is technically the main character (she very much began as a self-insert, although she has evolved since then), but my boys have also started to grab some of the spotlight for themselves.

In that one, we’ve got Alistair x Daenerys, Nadya x Robb/Jon, Victyr x Sansa, and Erwyn x Arya (among many others). I love them all so much, and I have so much brainrot for them!

Each sibling follows a really different path, which I think is very fun. Alistair goes from the eldest son of a powerful Northern house to a lone adventurer to a king before losing it all. Nadya grows into a strong and capable leader despite the hardships she endures. Victyr learns how to play the game to survive and ultimately win. Erwyn discovers that he is more than just a bastard and reaches his full (maybe a little bit magical) potential. They all have such unique character arcs, and I love it for them.

Honestly, there’s so much more to these fics that I could talk about it, but then this post would go on forever lol. If you want to know about any characters or storylines in particular, I’d be happy to rant about them some more lol
