Were you aware of the streaming landscape when your IP started the transition to ✨live action✨ adaptations on streamers? You now seem to have some involvement with Starz, Disney+ (lesser extent?), Prime and Netflix.

I’ve seen the “fandom” essentially be terrified every time a show premiers now that we won’t “get” a second season from the streamer, pretty much across the board.

Was it always like this in adaptations and especially genre TV? I look at the CW and Supernatural, Arrow, Charmed, Vampire Diaries, iZombie, hell even RIVERDALE and feel it was safe space for kinda campy genre tv.

Now it feel 8 episodes of a show drop and a fandom has to form and petition in the first two weeks!

Did you know or sense this going into the adaptations of your work? Do you think it’ll ever get better?

it wasn’t until this watch of izombie that i realized. in the s3 finale they decided to reference GEORGE HW BUSH LEARNING ABT 9/11 with peyton n floyd baracus like i think the first few times i thought it was strange that they set it so specifically to him reading kids but

they really said it is zombie 9/11

Ooh, what’s your beef with izombie? I recently got into the show before it turned kinda mediocre so I’d love to hear another opinion on it!

Tl;dr - flanderization

So I started watching iZombie the day it premiered because I am nothing if not a Bradley James simp but also because the concept sounded fun. And initially it was! Liv fuckin ruled as a protag and the rest of the cast were also equally as weird and loveable (Peyton Charles my BELOVED). But the biggest thing here is that the mechanism of the show is that Liv had to solve a crime > Liv ate some of the brain of the victim > Liv took on personality quirks from said brain > Liv used those to solve the crime. The key here is quirks.

Now, this all went well for S1 where we got to see Rose McIver play all sorts of different Livs like a paintball instructor or a frat boy at a Halloween party, but the main thing here is that Liv still retained her own personality while hopped up on Brain Juice. She just became Liv-who-was-better-at-parkour or Liv-but-now-with-added-agoraphobia.

Fast forward to S3, which is around where I stopped watching. Now every time Liv ate a brain, she fully embodied the personality of the brain. She stopped being Liv plus a little extra and became soccer mom!Liv or newsanchor!Liv. She stopped having interests or passions as a result and became fully about trying to solve the next case and so she also stopped being interesting.

That and I simply Did Not Care for the anti-zombie military The Walking Dead-esque plotline that they leaned real hard into. It was so much better when it was a zombie crime procedural and not a show where anti-zombie extremists force the main characters to relocate to a literal zombie island??? Is that really how the series ends????

I know people hate it and him, and I understand their motives, but also I feel like Annie and Noah genuinely cared about each other and there was a fascinating thread of redemption, trust, and forgiveness to explore here. Plus we could have had S3 ex-FBI-turned-to-crime Noah, and instead we got therapist fuckboy. Meditate that.

there was this telenovela i watched when i was little, with veronica castro and juan soler (when he was starting out and had boyish good looks) called 'pueblo chico, infierno grande'. idr everything about it, only that it was about an older woman falling for new young guy that comes to town. and i remember him dying in her arms at the end and i remember being really sad about it.

so...yeah. I think he should have lived and they should have ended up together. i think it was wrong that he died and that she was sad. does that count?

the movie, 'ready or not'--she and the hot brother should have survived together. i dont care that she married the wrong one.

that time i watched two seasons of izombie and i wished it was about the secondary characters, blaine and rita, and not...whatever the protag zombie's name was. they killed her off and it was dumb.

even tho im glad 'the royals' ended when it did (cancelled), especially bc the showrunner was\is a terrible person, it still bothers me that they never actually explored willow and liam being a thing. s2 showed he did like her a lot and then s3 undid by inventing kathryn and it was dumb. the love triangle should have been liam\willow\robert. again, im glad it ended with willow marrying robert and i did take a liking to robert, but i wanted liam\willow to be explored.

really unpopular opinion, but in 'the mindy project' i wish they had brought back tommy dewey's character, josh the sports lawyer, more. like i wish he had been brought back more than casey. i kind of....didn't care about casey. and i think we saw him back way too much. i dont think he should have ended up with mindy, not what im saying. im just saying i was fond of josh and i would have liked to have seen more of him.

oh yeah, i forgot. how could i forget. the abc show 'once upon a time' where emma ended up with the 5 cent pirate. s1 looked like they were setting emma up with august (Pinocchio) and then in s2 they changed their minds and wrote him off. its a shame bc emma and august could have had a really good love story. and im still kinda sad about it if i think too much about it. the au ep they do in s6 felt like the writers knew and gave a little something to those 5 ppl who shipped wooden swan

season 4 literally opens with the information that they built a wall around seattle and the zombies are contained in the city and now zombies are more of a metaphor for racism than ever... trump era tv was crazy huh
