@iyo-mcd-rewrite asked me to infodump in their DMs of what happened to Shad/how the War of the Magi began in my rewriteverse, because I pretty discarded all the crumbs of DWs lore in canon and made my own
I broke some brains in the MCDBB Discord a few months back when I settled on this specific version, as you’ll see in some screenshots from then. But now the masses may have it displayed to their eyes as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So essentially. The Void is present in the mcd/mys world (which I’ve named Terrum) but it is spreading at an exponentially slow rate. Shad Um’branis once, by chance, came across this strange patch of black rock out in the wilderness. He tried to touch it, but…well to him it felt, in a split instant, like having his hand grasped by a grip made of burning hot magma as it tried to drag him forward. He stumbled away, and left the cave confused and frightened. He meant to tell someone about it, but…after he left, by an hour later he’d lost all memory of the encounter entirely. He and his friends went on with their lives.
But Shad’s innate nature as the distant descendant of the God of Decay, and the mortal bridge between it and the living universe, creates a…unique interaction with the Void. It’s similar—but not the same—as the chain of events which created the Demon Warlock.
A regular living being directly touching the void rock would’ve had it spread onto them, and depending on circumstances would’ve died by the end of the day. Shad touching it, however, created something.
The Void recognized his death magic as itself, or close enough. It tried to pull him closer, consume him and his power as a boon, but as he pulled away the reaction instead created a new being. The Shadow Lord, as it is only known, was a parasitic phantom born out of the Void’s characteristics and the dark side of Shad’s self. It was essentially evil incarnate, its personality was the darkest parts of Shad’s subconscious, and it possessed powers over death and sickness similar to his own, except it exploited them and used them liberally and tyrannically.
There was a period of a few months after Shad’s interaction with the Void, when rumors spread around Ru’aun that there was some sort of dark, shadowed presence terrorizing and decimating villages. They themselves had tried to investigate, but they never found a source or reason, only…destruction in its wake. Shad, unbeknownst to the others, had began getting this strange pulling in his mind that grew stronger and stronger every time they went somewhere the specter had gone. (It also didn’t go over any of their heads that these corpses and dead villages looked inexplicably similar to what they’d all witnessed Shad do to their enemies in the past, but no one ever found the will to bring it up until it was too late for the benefit of the doubt.)
It all came to head one day in O’Khasis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Shadow Lord was born with only one base, primal thought; the rest of its intelligent conscience came over time. It was inherently tied to Shad’s soul, and as a roaming, bodiless spirit, it sought out him. The thing that, to the Shadow Lord, was his body and nothing else but a pest infesting it.
After it finally found Shad in O’Khasis, Shad didn’t know what was happening, but he fought back as best he could for years against this demonic evil that had possessed him. However, all the Divine Warriors saw on the outside was their friend who’d disappeared with Esmound’s murdered niece in his wake, and then reemerged for the next nine years as a man who was him, but was practically unrecognizable. All they’d seen was Shad inexplicably snap and go on a rampage across their beloved region and bring death and despair and destruction to thousands of innocent people. They were the only ones with the powers to fight back.
The War of the Magi ended when the five banished Shad to a desolate, hellish pocket-dimension called the Nether. This process destroyed Shad’s physical body entirely, leaving only his immortal, demented spirit alone in the crimson wastes. Except, the destruction of his body was what truly doomed him; the specter that survived in the Nether was the Shadow Lord, as it had overtaken Shad’s own human soul, and what survived of Shad’s consciousness was trapped down in the depths of his own spirit-realm (the others of which being the five divine-dimensions) as they no longer had a host-body to fight over.
Time was twisted there, and from there Shad had no bearing or possible way of knowing what was happening in the material realm. Since the banishment, he had no idea of anything the Shadow Lord did. Over 390 years later, Laurance Zvahl was born, along with four other people. He, as the destined successor to the Destroyer, was the only other compatible being that could work as a host for the Shadow Lord. 422 years later, Laurance Zvahl stepped foot in the Nether for the first time, but a Wyvern dragged him away. 438 years later, the Shadow Lord finally fulfilled, again, its base mission. 441 years after Shad found himself on this dead island in an abyssal sea, and 500 years after Irene the Matron was born, a soul named Laurance Zvahl fell from the featureless sky and joined him there. Laurance was the first person to ever learn the truth.
Tumblr media
At the beginning, the Shadow Lord was a primal entity seeking only to spread its corrupted power over death, but later after merging with Shad’s mind it became a sentient being hellbent on avenging itself against “the former friends who betrayed him” via whatever means it had at its disposal. Thus, creation of the shadow army. With it, a prophecy was born.
This man will plague me for the rest of my days
(FC is art commandeered from Pinterest: source / source)

(Also Shad and Irene’s daughter doesn’t exist in my canon because I do not vibe with amoral Irene or DWs)

Hey Zal. I've got a soa question. You have said before that iyo Gemma was fridged instead of Tara and you didn't like how S7 handled Taras death + Gemmas death and how it was setup. Do you want to go more into detail?
I think Taras death was inevitable. It was always going to be her or Gemma and Gemma is just crueler and meaner so Tara had to lose.
How would you rewrite S7 and Gemmas death or what/how would you have liked to happen?
Thank you, I hope you have a great weekend
Yeah, I think Tara's death was ordained since season 1
Tumblr media
and more than it propelling Jax to a place plot-wise, I think it tied into the mythology of Charming as a character, like Unser said, the town chooses the people, and like you said, it was either going to be Gemma or Tara, that's set up from the very beginning
Tumblr media
so that’s why I never felt like she’d been fridged because it goes beyond Jax.
In terms of Gemma, I'm not necessarily sure objectively, if I have any other way I would have her die, it's just that for all of the carnage that she caused and for how brutally she murdered Tara, the viewer in me wanted a death as brutal as hers, I wanted something more visceral, I wanted her to suffer with Tara's death more because I was just so angry (good angry) with the plot line that I wanted something explosive, I wanted anger, I wanted more of a confrontation, I wanted more of a breakdown but that doesn’t mean that that’s the way it should’ve been done.
I haven’t watched season 7 since it aired and if I watched it again I’m sure I’d have the same reaction where I’d feel put out by the way the whole situation is handled but it does make sense for the characters, Jax is a character who feels deeply and is sensitive, or at least he began sensitive, but his actions while springing from how deeply he can feel things are methodical. Even in the season 7 premiere where he has his morning was it ... coffee or cigarette or whatever it was but he just sits at the kitchen table and looks at the spot Tara was murdered and it’s implied that that’s kind of a routine and Sutter said in an interview, first Opie was gone and now Tara is gone so the people that grounded him or that allowed him to be vulnerable are gone which means the way he carries Tara’s death isn’t going to be emotional even if he feels it everyday and the way he kills Gemma, he has his heartbreak with Nero which was a fantastic scene but at the time I had wanted rage and like, I said I would still want that watching it, but that isn’t Jax at least not when it’s his mother murdering his wife, that’s going to be heartbreak and pain, and when he finally does it it’s going to be conflicted and there is going to be a sense of inevitability to it because that’s all there is left, so while I would’ve liked a more theatrical declaration of how much he loved Tara, how much she hurt Thomas and Abel, how she damaged the club, it’s not necessary because we know all of this, we saw it the entire season, there’s no need to summarize and recap so it’s not that it doesn’t make sense to me, I just don’t find it satisfying.

thought this would be a perfect question to start off the blog with. not on my sideblog ( @iyo-mcd-rewrite ) so i don’t cloud it up. will be answering other questions on there, though!
short summary; i grew up with aphmau and created an au with a friend in 2020 during covid after hearing about the iffy things jess did. i’m not making the au anymore with them, but i’m continuing it on since i care a lot about the series.
a longer, more extensive reply under the cut!
Tumblr media
i’ve been an aphmau kid ever since mcd started eight years ago in 2016. essentially, that means i was watching it at 7-8, but, that wasn’t the worst thing ever (especially since i was reading wings of fire and warriors in the fourth grade also).
i’ve always been drawn into the show—it’s lore, the characters, the unique twist jess played on a minecraft world and roleplay, all of it. i’d watch every episode when it came out, and even started watching mystreet when she introduced that.
however mcd slowed down after a while, and i found new interests due to growing up more. i stopped watching after the finale of the second season, and additionally stopped watching mystreet a little later in the third season.
four years ago, right before covid, i started to binge mcd again after a conversation with an (online) friend about aphmau. we discussed the distasteful things she had done, and were rather appalled of what had come of our favorite childhood context creator—ending up deciding to binge it together. i hadn’t thought about her in a while, but the idea of watching a comforting show seemed quite appealing—especially once covid hit and i had a lot of time to overthink and ponder.
me and said friend started our au that year, determined to revisit the glory of our youth and take back the world we loved after the betrayal of the creator. so we used our time in quarantine to help craft a world together—we were both in middle school/similar ages, so obviously it wasn’t that well made, and our ocs we shoddily added in were full of flaws. but it was ours, and we loved it to bits.
eventually we broke apart, and i didn’t touch the au for a while. but i had a resurgence last year, and am having one now, of wanting to continue this world oh so dear to my heart.
so here i am. i’m determined to bring my passion project to light for once, prepared to share four years of information (and to tweak and build upon what’s currently there.)
rewriting mystreet was an afterthought, but love love paradise was always something i was fond of, and the idea of just a modern version of my worldbuilding didn’t seem that bad.
my creations aren’t based off of the canon characters—i feel i wouldn’t do them much justice—but you’ll still see them often. this is more centered around the actual world and realms mcd and mystreet reside in, as you’ll see. i have my own plethora of characters, species, cultures, and regions to add in, each with their own divine warrior.
i’m just rambling now, so i’ll stop it there — but i invite you all to join me on my journey of giving a rebirth to the series we all hold so dear!
Rewriters: What is your reasoning behind why you started rewriting Mystreet and/or MCD?

don't feel like editing so short snippets that I'll probably use if players take interest in Kaz
"It's more complicated than that. I... I don't think he meant it, y'know? ...What? What's that look for?" (Perception:) Oh, Kaz is certainly lying, just more to himself than to you.
...
"Yeah, I know what he did wasn't okay. But... I can't go back and change that. And I don't know what I'd do without him, or Iyo, or even Eshrie -- actually, especially Eshrie. It sounds simple, but this is my family. It's the closest to a normal li...fe," he cringes, "that I'm ever going to have, now."
---
Kaztik's normally withdrawn demeanor shifts as he shoves himself between the attacker and Rikkal. "Do not. Fucking. Touch him." Golden strands flicker around Kaz as if his magic itself is agitated, and for the briefest of moments, you all feel an intense urge to cast all self-preservation aside and do the same -- but the feeling is gone as quickly as it came.
...
"Sorry. I, uh, should've warned you that I get like that sometimes..." Kaz scratches the back of his head. "I'll make it up to you at some point."
---
"Oh, about that, funny story! I was sort of, uh, trying to undo the curse I put on you, right? And wouldn't you know it, when I went snooping around the tower, I found the wrong source, and when I started piercing it, everything worked differently... crazy, right? ...Ooookay, don't like that look, stay back! Iyo! I think they're mad!" Kaz retreats toward his room, continuing to call for Iyo's help. Iyo is watching, amused, from the stairwell, sipping on a glass of what appears to be wine.
(Arcana:) "Yes, that Tower. It's a pretty ill-kept secret that the academy is linked to the plane of magic. If you know what you're doing, when you go there, you can rewrite the laws of magic itself, assuming you can get to any of the sources... But most people who try it end up blowing themselves up, and that's assuming -- Oops! Sorry, I'm talking too much, I think Rikky's rubbing off on me." He laughs nervously.
(If pushed for more information:) "Oh, most people don't make it far enough to be blown up by tinkering with magic. The place is full of traps and wandering beasts and -- it lives up to the fairy tales, really. And you can't really do something the gods don't want you to, right, or else they'd just change it back... wouldn't they?"
---
"No, I... I didn't want this, really. There's a lot you can't do anymore, once you're... look, I'm not talking about it."
...
"I miss the stupidest little things. Warmth doesn't feel so good anymore. The cool breeze on your face in summer... drinking water. Apples. I'd kill to properly enjoy some apples. I had some imported a while ago, but do you know how much of your enjoyment of food isn't just taste, but is in having a stomach that needs the stuff? Look, it sounds stupid, but it's more than you think. Sometimes I'll help Iyo and Eshrie cook, but it's not the same anymore."
...
"No, there's no cure. The ritual I -- we -- did, it doesn't just turn you. You have to turn against some aspect of yourself. I don't think I can atone for... why are you asking me so many questions, huh?"

So I finally did a rewrite of the most disappointing scene in The Lion King remake (though that’s not saying much). It’s the scene where Rafiki shows Simba the pool and Mufasa’s ghost appears to him. Between Mufasa barely actually appearing and the movie cutting the following conversation Simba and Rafiki have (the arguable best scene of the movie), AND not using Lebo M.’s new version of He Lives In You (the unarguable best version of that song) instead of that awful Beyonce song, it was done the dirtiest out of the lot. But it did have some nice elements, so I tried to combine the best of both.
So here’s how I imagine it in my head. I have a very clear picture of this animated but given that I have no talent on that front I think I managed to convey it to script form well enough. I’ve linked the pieces of music and the timestamps which are vital to this scene, but I would recommend reading it through first without them, so your’re not pressured to read the actions too quickly and miss out, and then go back through it listening to the music. With the ‘Remember Who You Are’ fragments the dialogue is too long to fit the music, so just stop it early. Also the song is completely in Xhosa, but I’m assuming everyone reading has enough familiarity with the song to be able to follow.
Credit to @asante-sana for the idea of the pawprint imagery. Idk if they’re active anymore but I think they’d like to see this if they ever come back
[He Lives In You begins to play under the dialogue]
Rafiki: Shh…Look down there…
[He gestures with his staff to a glow between the grass. Simba moves forward and reveals the pool. Half-sceptical, half-hopeful, he looks into the water, but his face falls and he sighs when he sees his reflection look back up at him]
Simba: That’s not my father…It’s just my reflection.
Rafiki: No!
[The baboon holds the back of the lion’s head and makes him look again]
Rafiki: Look harder…
[Again, Simba looks, and again, he sees nothing. He pulls up, frustrated and confused. He almost snaps at Rafiki]
Simba: What am I supposed to be seeing?
[Disappointed, Rafiki sighs, then looks off into the sky with his head tilted, as though he can hear the voices the audience can and Simba cannot. He begins to sing]
Rafiki: Night,
           And the spirit of life…
[He puts a hand to his ear]
           Calling…
[The chorus answers him, quiet at first]
Chorus: Oh, oh, iyo
[Rafiki holds Simba’s head and tilts it upwards, as though to make him hear]
Rafiki: Mamela…
[The chorus answers again, stronger]
Chorus: Oh, oh, iyo
[Simba pulls out and turns away, holding his head low in the opposite direction]
Rafiki: And a voice…
Just the fear of a child,
[Rafiki reaches over to gently touch Simba on the back. The lion sighs, and reluctantly turns his head]
Rafiki: Answers…
Chorus: Oh, oh, iyo
Rafiki: Woah mamela…
[Rafiki moves his staff in a wide arc. On the second echo from the chorus Simba straightens up and his eyes widen, as though he has finally heard something and it has startled him]
Chorus: Oh, oh, iyo
[Rafiki hobbles over to the edge of the pool with his staff and raises it with both hands above his head as he chants]
Rafiki: Ubukhosi bo khokho!
[The pool glows and ripples violently as the voices respond]
Chorus: We ndodana ye sizwe sonke
[This terrifies Simba, and he instinctively he starts to flee. But suddenly, impossibly, Rafiki blocks his path with an outstretched hand]
Rafiki: Wait!
[He slowly lowers his palm and Simba relaxes. Rafiki points his staff upwards]
Rafiki: There’s no mountain too great!
[He extends his hand again and reaches through the mane to touch Simba’s heart. The lion looks down then back up, eyes wide]
Rafiki: Here these words and have faith,
             Woah-oah-oh!
[Rafiki once again hobbles over to the pond, and extends his staff to lightly tap the surface of the pool.]
Rafiki [spoken]: Have faith.
Chorus: Hela hey mamela (x4)
[Simba looks down into the gently rippling pool. He looks at his own reflection becoming more and more distorted, until the ripples clear and he sees a lion that looks him, but who is broader, older, and wears a sad expression on his face: it is Mufasa]
Rafiki: He lives in you,
[Simba gasps, and after a moment of staring, recoils from the reflection, breathing heavily. He looks at Rafiki, who nods and places his hand on his chest]
Rafiki: He lives in me.
[Rafiki waves his staff in a wide angle, and Simba follows its direction and looks out over the vast, empty plains]
Rafiki: He watches over,
             Everything we see.
[Rafiki kneels down and scoops some of the water into his hands, he spreads it over Simba’s forehead just as he did when he was a cub]
Rafiki: Into the water,
[Simba shakes and sneezes it off, and Rafiki cannot help but smile]
Rafiki: Into the truth.
[Simba crouches down for another look into the pool, and is once again faced with his father’s sad face staring back at him]
Rafiki: In your reflection,
[The visage of Mufasa disappears, leaving only Simba’s reflection in the pool]
Rafiki: He lives in you.
[A fierce wind unexpectedly picks up, blowing Simba’s mane into his face. He gets up and looks around in confusion]
Simba: What is that?
[The wind is similarly buffeting Rafiki, but he does not fight it. He looks up at the sky and nods knowingly]
Rafiki: Ah, looks like the winds are changing.
[A sudden storm rolls in over the plain. Clouds gather, the wind blows at the grass, and bolts of lightning flash in the sky. The roar of thunder swells, and in the flashes of light Simba thinks he can see the heads of great lions, roaring their anger.
Clouds begin to gather in the centre of the skyline, and accumulate in a curious shape. Beams of light begin to penetrate it. A golden glow begins to wash over Simba’s face]
Simba [astonished, choking]: Father?
[The clouds have taken the shape of a lion. It lifts its head and opens its eyes, and in a flash the night sky is filled with golden light]
Rafiki [V.O]: He lives in you!
[Mufasa’s face stares disapprovingly down at Simba, who crouches in fear like a terrified kitten. Rafiki continues to sing but has curiously disappeared from the scene, the chorus keeps up the ‘Hey Mamela’s]
Rafiki: He lives in me!
[Around Mufasa’s head and down into the sky, the shapes of many animals and birds run and fly: zebras, flamingos, monkeys, weavers, buffalo; every animal that was once found in the Pridelands is present (reminiscent of the transformation scene in Brother Bear). Grunts, squawks, roars, and all manner of animal noises fill the air. Simba stands up and looks on in awe]
Rafiki: He watches over,
[A spectral elephant lumbers past Simba with a trumpet and glares at him accusingly, a giraffe floats by in the other direction and does not look down]
Rafiki: Everything we see!
[A ghostly pack of wild dogs leap and run in circles around Simba. From Mufasa’s height (on the drum fill) a huge crocodile swims down through the sky towards Simba and opens its jaws wide enough to engulf him]
Rafiki: Into the water,
[Simba braces himself as the jaws snap shut, but the crocodile disintegrates. He looks back up, but Mufasa stills look down at him with the same disappointed stare]
Rafiki: Into the truth,
[The spirits are reaching a fever pitch: a cheetah, a rhino, zebra and gazelles run right through Simba, while flocks of birds, flamingos, and an eagle fly above him, but they all seem to be gravitating back up into the sky towards Mufasa]
Rafiki: In your reflection,
[For a brief moment, the spirits turn their heads to look at him. Then all disintegrate as one and the night sky is dark and full of stars. All except for Mufasa, whose ghostly head shines blue]
Rafiki: He lives in you…
[‘He Lives In You’ fades out. Simba steps forwards. Mufasa’s ghost is surrounded by swirling clouds and fills the sky as he looks down at his son and begins to speak, voice amplified and heavy with sadness. ‘Remember Who You Are’ fades in from Mufasa’s theme]
Mufasa: Simba…you have forgotten me…
Simba: No, how could I?
Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself Simba, you are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
[Mufasa is never accusatory. He speaks softly and is never stern, but the disappointment in his expression and voice hurts Simba more than harsh words ever could]
Simba [looks up pleading at his father then lowers his head]: How can I go back? I’m not who I used to be…
Mufasa: Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true king.
[Simba looks up on ‘son’, but lowers it again on ‘King’, ashamed]
Simba: I’m sorry, I don’t know how to be like you. I don’t deserve to take your place.
Mufasa: When I was King, I did many great deeds. But what I am most proud of, is having you for my son.
[This revelation seems to be a simultaneous shock and a comfort to Simba, but he is still hesitant]
Simba: That…was a long time ago…
Mufasa: No Simba, that is forever…
[The clouds surrounding him start to draw back, and the visage of Mufasa goes with them]
Mufasa: Remember who you are…
[Simba, suddenly overcome with panic, starts to run after him. Calling out more desperately each time]
Simba: No! Wait!
Mufasa: Remember…
Simba: Father…
Simba [he cries out, a frightened cub again]: Dad!
Simba [stops running, exhausted and on the verge of tears]: Don’t leave me again…
[Mufasa’s form has all but faded. The night sky has gone from inky black to a softer blue, the stars are beginning to fade and a faint glow shines on the distant hills]
Mufasa: I never have, and I never will.
Remember…
[Simba slows to a walk, and then stops and sits upon a grassy hill, looking up the now-empty sky. His theme begins to play. He is deep in thought, but is suddenly interrupted when Rafiki appears, seemingly from nowhere, shaking with laughter and hobbling on his stick to join the lion. His hair is haphazard from the wind]
Rafiki: Who-ah! What was that? The weather? HAH! Very peculiar…don’t you think?
[Idly, he sits down to smooth out his hair. Simba looks up at the sky]
Simba: You were right: the winds are changing
Rafiki: Ah, change-
[He picks a flea out from his hair, and tosses it into his mouth.]
Rafiki: -Is good.
Simba: Yeah, but it’s not easy. I know what I have to do, but going back means I have to face my past
[He looks off]
Simba: I’ve been running from it for so long…
[While Simba has been talking, Rafiki stands up with a devilish grin on his face. Grasping the staff in both hands, and moving with considerable effort, he whacks Simba with it over the top of his head. Simba growls in pain, and shakes his head, recoiling slightly]
Simba: Ow! What was that for?
Rafiki: It doesn’t matter! It’s in the past!
[He laughs hysterically at his own joke, while Simba rubs his head, less than amused]
Simba: Yeah but it still hurts.
[Rafiki nods his head knowingly, placing a hand on Simba’s shoulder]
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it you can either run from it, or…learn from it!
[He swings his staff at Simba’s head again, and lets out a laugh when Simba dodges]
Rafiki: HAH! You see? And so, I ask again…Who are you?
[Simba stands up, plants his paw down and looks up into the sky]
Simba: I am Simba, the son of Mufasa.
Rafiki: And…what are you going to do?
Simba: Well first…
[A slow grin appears on his face and he looks at Rafiki, his old playful self]
Simba: I’m gonna take your stick!
[Before the monkey can react, Simba grabs the staff between his teeth and tosses it to one side]
Rafiki: No, no, no, not the stick!
[As Rafiki picks up the staff he looks up to see Simba running off into the grass. He calls after him]
Rafiki: Hey! Where are you going?
[Simba stops for a moment to look up at him. ]
Simba: I’m going back!
Rafiki: Good! Go on! Get out of here!
[He laughs as ‘He Lives In You’ fades back in. There is a low shot of some grass and on the first line Simba comes bounding over, leaving it swaying in the wind]
Rafiki: He lives in you!
[Closeup of Simba’s face, happy. He sings with Rafiki in the same style as the Broadway Reprise]
Simba: Woah-oh-ho, he lives in me!
[Cut between Rafiki and Simba for each of their sung lines. Rafiki is on top of the hill waving his staff in celebration, the camera is closeup on Simba’s face]
Rafiki: He watches over!
Simba: Watches over-
Rafiki: Everything we see!
Simba: Ooh everything we see!
[Simba runs across a log spanning a river reminiscent of the one from the original movie. We see his reflection in the water]
Rafiki: Into the water!
[The camera stays on the log after Simba leaves. A moment later a second reflection passes over the water, a lion, larger than Simba, but no one is on the log. Cutaway to a front-shot of Simba’s face as he sings]
Simba: Into the water!
Rafiki: Into the truth!
[Simba suddenly stops as he sees something on the ground. It is a large lion’s pawprint]
Rafiki: In your reflection!
[Reverently, Simba places his paw inside: it finally fits]
Simba: In my reflection…
Rafiki: He lives in you!
[Simba looks up and sees something we cannot. He starts to walk towards it, and as he speeds up a smile spreads across his face. As he is running full speed he comes out of shadow and his face is washed in gold. A tear rolls down his face]
Rafiki: He lives in you!
[Simba appears at the top of a hill, the sun blazing behind him, and he lets out a mighty ROAR. Cut to Nala running through the jungle, she stops and turns when she hears him, and we get a close up of the joyful recognition on her face]
Rafiki: He lives in me!
[Closeup of Simba’s head as he ROARs again. Timon and Pumbaa lift their heads above a bush. Zazu, perched on a branch, jolts awake and struggles to regain balance. He looks around, dazed]
Zazu: Simba?
Rafiki: He watches over!
[Simba roars again. An elephant and a giraffe lift their heads. A cheetah runs up a log as a rhino looks up in the foreground. A hippo and a crocodile surface from a river]
Rafiki: Everything we see!
[The final roar is offscreen. Zebras and gazelle lift their heads, birds, monkeys, lizards, a leopard, all look up. The jungle stirs for the King]
[Camera cuts back as Simba finishes his roar. He stops for a moment then runs down the hill. Rafiki takes up the chant and the chorus sing the remainder of the song]
Chorus: Into the water!
[Nala begins to run in the opposite direction. Timon and Pumbaa hastily push through the bush. Zazu takes off with an ecstatic laugh. Rafiki appears on the same ledge Simba just left and raises his staff into the air as a flock of birds takes off over him]
Chorus: Into the truth!
[The elephant and the giraffe begin to walk. The cheetah and the rhino look at each other then start to run. The hippo and the crocodile climb out of the water. The herds and animals of the jungle scatter. All follow in Simba’s wake]
Chorus: In your reflection!
[Simba’s paw hits sand]
Rafiki: He lives in you…
[Zoom-out to the iconic slow motion shot of Simba running through the desert back towards the Pridelands. The song fades out]

✥ | a map of ru’aun, circa 1416 a.i. (after irene)
—————————————————————————————————————
hi!! it’s me again!! today i bring you a little teaser for my mcd roleplay that’s gonna be coming up either this or next year!!
i’m really excited for it, and the guys in the mcd big bang server have really inspired me to keep on crafting. more updates about this will come soon if you guys are interested in hearing more!!
(under the cut is a little tidbit about roleplay locations)
Tumblr media
every city in red is going to be an area/setting you can actually roleplay in!! it’s not concrete, and could change—but this is what i’m thinking. key below <3
circle with diamond — ‘capital’ of the phoenix drop alliance
circle with dot — major cities
circle — minor cities
diamond — settlement/village
animal footprint/marking — high concentration of that region’s nonhuman species

the big magic hell dump
if you can’t understand this, i will not blame you. it’s super convoluted—but here is a collection of 2022 magic notes mixed with current ones (i tweaked stuff a bit)
all realms have extremely high magic levels, but the end and nether have races with the most magical capability. this is because those realms were created for the shadow lord / shad and the ender dragons (the nether and the end realm respectively) + the biomes are "less drastic" than the overworld ones and caused a lack of sentient biodiversity. so, with only a few sentient races, the magic is distributed less and subsequently causes their magic concentration to be a lot more dense/higher than an overworld race , because in the overworld there is an *array* of races / sentient species, and causes the overall population to have lower magic concentration levels . the level itself varies from race and individual, however, but this is the general gist of it all.
+ this is why nether (including sks), end, and draconian races have blood that either is white or black and glowy. to those with low levels, it would burn to the touch as that is where all the magic is stored -- besides the core (an orb-ish thing that contains all your magic, and it's essentially in a personal pocket dimension inside your chest) , but that's another conversation
loosing lots of blood will do damage to what magic you can perform at that time -- think of it as mana pools -- and that's why lots of the nether and end races were inherently carnivorous or omnivores. it's like toh where belos needs a palismen's magic/bloodish thing to survive. while they don't kill people for their blood, they hunt down animals of their respective realms for that magical blood + their cores. removing a core is less gorey than it sounds—it’s like reaching into someone’s chest (your hand would go through the solid material of said body. typically takes some practice to perform) grabbing the spirit. there are no blood cults and all that shit, as you can even get some from certain plants + it's like vitamins or pills . it's very common for it to be mixed into food, healthcare items/consumables or gauzes, and/or drinks. probably brought up the idea of vampires in human folklore, but then again, there are soul-eaters lurking around (i’ll talk about them later.)
shadow knights are completely magic — their will and determination to continue living on boosting their core to remain after the perishing of the mortal/physical body. wounded knights will need to return to realms with higher concentrations of magic in order to survive. the mortal plane/earth will not have enough to sustain them, unless they are ingesting copious amounts of magic . since shadow knights can’t really digest food, the lava from the nether or a magical item like a golden apple are typically used to replenish.
the more magical one is, the thinner the barrier between the spirit and the mortal body is. so a magical race like a draconian would have to be especially careful during near-death occasions, as they would probably not pass on to the next life or would completely perish when their mortal body does. wounds take quicker to heal, but humans have the advantage of reincarnation or resurrection afterwards.
sks who perish completely disappear due to this — no way to get them back after their second chance. and i can’t imagine they would want to.
gods and divines are very similar to this, but typically whatever gave them their major source of power (aka a relic) just passed on into the next generation since they aren’t tethered to the previous wielder after death. typically these higher beings don’t have to worry about dying due to unnatural causes—you’re a goddamn divine, you probably wouldn’t have much trouble killing your opponents or leaving. but there are always scenarios one should be aware of.
when one dies, their core magic will either be consumed or go back into the environment they died in. like water, there’s a set amount of magic, but the amount in the air and “free” depends on the amount of people.
when one dies, their mortal body decays and either:
their core completely dissipates and returns to the world — higher levels of magic since the barrier of both bodies get more and more thin
persists for a while to reincarnate, become a sk, or something similar
while it seems like a big blow to those with higher magic, this trade off allows for them to perform much more complex levels of magic than the average person. it can be used in technology and other wild feats much quicker—since you have less of a barrier to get across. witches, albeit humans with a genetic history of a thinner barrier, or with non-human ancestry, are somewhere in between, allowing for a somewhat stable body and non-core magic use (harnessing the magic from the world outside of your body—ex. potions, runes). due to this, they’re seen as making pacts with a “demon” (essentially an enderian. fun fact, the demon warlock is one) and are typically shunned or burned. because we can’t have nice things, obviously.
up to change : however, material weapons do less damage to a magical body as they can kinda just. disintegrate once they touch the blood. same goes for magical weapons, as the core is more resistant to change and the person has a material body to fall back on.

introducing: iyo
Tumblr media
sup! i’m iyo. i’ve had this account for a while, but finally decided to start using it. this is probably the most formal i’ll be for a while. also, a txt version of the image with more info is below in the cut!
introduction pt. 2
Tumblr media
general stuff
iyokko — any prns (they/them default, afab)
hi there! i’m a midwestern digital artist who also likes to dabble into worldbuilding. i’m quite busy with schoolwork and extracurriculars, but i like to make time to share my insane ramblings i have throughout the day.
i’ve got a lovely girlfriend! i’m fruity, unfortunately. i might talk about her occasionally, but i’ll try not to since this is the public eye.
i have a pretty poor attention span though, and i’ll probably appear periodically on this account. when that happens, i’m still alive! feel free to send me stuff.
Tumblr media
fandoms
here are some of my interests as of late:
murder drones
aphmau (why i joined tumblr! was a mystreet and minecraft diaries kid growing up.)
alice in borderland
extraordinary attorney woo
wings of fire + fantribes (also a wof kid! still am. make most of my extra cash through the ever-popular fantribes on discord.)
blue lock (manga)
beastars + beast complex (both manga)
oshi no ko (manga — stopped reading it for now since it’s gone off on the deep end)
hallow knight
danganronpa (the disease infected me in middle school and it’s sadly rotted in my head permanently)
one piece (just got into it! wish me luck)
warrior cats (read this at the same time as wof and aph. no wonder i came out so gay)
other stuff too! this is just from the top of my head.
Tumblr media
qna
what brought you to joining tumblr?
aphmau brought me here! i saw the community, and as a lifelong aphmau fan—with a rewrite in the works by the way—i just had to join in. tumblr’s been on my radar for a while now to join!
what/when will you post?
i’ll be generally posting my art and ramblings! unfortunately, i probably won’t have a very set schedule, but i’ll try to post at least once or twice a week.
what should i stay for?
if you like my personality or art style, then you should stick around! i can’t promise i’ll be talking about every fandom i’m in, but a few that have always stuck with me are danganronpa, aphmau, and wings of fire. those three will probably continue being posted about throughout my tumblr career, so if you like that sort of content, i might be up your alley.
my inbox—is it open?
it’s currently open! but please be patient with me, i’ve only ever lurked on tumblr before. actually using it is currently a mystery i’m uncovering.
any sideblogs to be aware of?
currently i have one other account for my mcd and myst rewrite! it’s called @iyo-mcd-rewrite! hopefully the link worked for that—if not, you’ll often see me reblog posts from it.
i might make others for my two other big fandoms (wof and danganronpa), but for now they’ll be contained in this main one!
do you have other accounts?
discord — iyokko
instagram — iyokko__
toyhouse — iyokko
twitter — iyokko185998
where do i contact you?
i’m most active on discord and toyhouse, but if you dm me on insta or email me, i’ll get it at a later date! twitter i am at a loss for on dms. that’s all for now!
