they say in dreams there's an island you can sail to, if you know the way. if you've been invited. it is small. barely two dozen paces across. they say if you make the pilgrimage, if you sacrifice all that is unbecoming, you may find peace in meditation. here at the heart of obsession, there is calm. there is safety.

yet meditation is a troubling thing. it vexes, the failures. one can only submit to the whims of the universe and yet only fail, fail, fail. how dedicated would you be? you would know that insight is inevitable regardless of your setbacks but as you slip and fall away from your goalless goal and the pain is so great, would you not simply wish to give in?

how much is obsession worth? would you stay there upon the isle till your souls wither and your heart rots. would you trace the contours of obsession till you know every concave bump and every jagged edge by heart? the boat is right there.

you would stay though, would you not? you've sacrificed so much, so much. yet you've so much to lose still. don't look up. don't look down. just circle your obsession, and don't look away. a moment's lapse is all it takess.
