They fucking knew no one would want a life action Sonic movie.

That’s why they didn’t put much effort into a CGI Sonic no one would want anyway.

They knew they had to save their creative energy for Robotnik to be the saving grace.

Sonic looks shit because he’s not the main character.

THE SONIC MOVIE ISNT ABOUT SONIC

The movie, in all its weirdness isn't about sonic. Now we ARE seeing it through his perspective but it's not about him not really. It's about the (de)scent of Dr Ivor Robotnik.

Now first of all to understand my theory you need to understand WHY sonic is here. Anyone who knows sonic knows he lives in a brightly coloured world with talking animals. And anyone who wasted their early teens know that sonic originates in a world thats XXXX years in the future. Long after earth was invaded by aliens and humanity devolved into four fingered military hotheads. Now we dont have enough time to unpack ALL that but the bottom line in Sonic doesnt come from OUR world, or at least not the world as we know it. THEN, WHY IS HE HERE?!?!?

MY THEORY is that Sonic either:

A. Used the chaos emeralds to accidentally travel into another world/backward in time (not the first time) OR

B. super speed ran his way backwards in time/to another world (since his speed is so "other worldly" or "super energy whatever" shit.

And his goal/plot of the film is to get back home with the help of [insert generic human sidekick who exists for comedy and refernece]

THEN WE HAVE ROBOTNIK. Already in the trailer we see his RAPID descent into madness. Becoming the man we all are more familiar with. EGGMAN.

I believe this is eggman's origin story. Where his need, his OBSESSION, his RIVALRY with sonic begins Trying to catch that rodent. And somehow, some way this movie is going to end with him travelling back with sonic where he'll remain and become EGGMAN
