There's rarely any need for Stone to feel relief.

He often feels proud, or accomplished. But relief is something different - the expectation of failure, the lifting of the weight.

He doesn't feel that often. He knows he does well, and he knows everything will be fine regarding himself and the doctor.

Which is why, after a year in Green Hills, the sudden message from the doctor has him lightheaded, a smile pulling at his lips as the tension leaves his body as he changes the coffee shop for his guest.

Relief.

Not of some duty or pressure, but if another man's survival. Again and again, he comes back, and always again Stone will be there, manifesto in one hand, the other outstretched to welcome Robotnik back into the lab.
