Decided to spend the last 15 minutes of work updating my spreadsheet, so here’s the link if anyone wants to make a copy for themselves. It’s really only useful if you’re working on a bunch of projects though, and if you like looking at data. Totally not necessary. 

Hello, I really like you and your writing- your fics ,(and Dann's too) are part of the reason I got into writing again. This year I am doing the Nanowrimo challenge, and i am wondering, how the actual f*** can sb write so much per day? Like, I am going to try, but... Do you have any tips on how to make time for writing? Or how to get motivated? (I can't strech how much I appreciate this blog btw, I really can't)

Oh, yes! I have a few tips for that. For nanowrimo you have to write 1600 words a day, right? So my first piece of advice: break it down. If writing 1600 words feels daunting, write 400 words four times a day. Just tell yourself you can stop when you reach 400. Sometimes it’ll be a slog and you’ll be relieved to stop, sometimes you’ll get into a groove and keep going. The point is - make writing a habit, not an event. You can get 400 words at a time out sitting on the toilet, or waiting for the oven to preheat, or coffee to make, or while you procrastinate getting out of bed in the morning. Also remember that they don’t have to be good, and they don’t have to be words you keep. Nano is about pushing yourself to hit the word count but it’s only a first draft. Anything you write you can edit later, but you can’t edit what you haven’t written to begin with. 

Being able to keep track of your progress is also really motivating. You can make your own spreadsheet or you can use something like pacemaker.
