#ive never really listened to her discography

i've been watching mariah carey's interviews, especially about her music, and gosh.. the media really painted her as a diva when she is kind, eloquent, and sincere. like she really came from nothing and writes, composes, and produces her music, and an incredible vocalist and her interactions with fans are so wholesome. she doesnt even seem arrogant cause she really talks to everyone even hugs fans. so the "Diva" thing was really just a facade cause the media was being misogynistic towards her. when she's just a master of her craft.
and i have been listening to her albums in the 90s and reading the lyrics.. and it's some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written like you can really tell she was writing from her personal experiences and the way she puts words together. she really is a brilliant songwriter and her 2000s albums and beyond are amazing too like she has consistently been putting out music that is relatable and also catchy and she even evolved from like the ballads to r&b with hip hop influences. it's interesting to hear her musical evolution
like ive always been a casual fan cause pinoys love her, but i've never been a stan until recently when something in the air just made me wanna listen to her entire discography and now im in this rabbit hole and watching videos and interviews of hers like she really is a legend. and she has been through so much like i feel she really doesnt need to prove herself anymore at this point and it's nice to see she still seems happy recently. i would love to see her in a concert eventually if she decides to come here.
also her billboard music awards icon acceptance speech was beautiful. actually many of her awards speeches are incredible. she's a wordsmith not only in song but also for speeches. you can tell she is really a writer and speaks from her heart

this is a really long post and you dont have to read it, its more of a word vomit towards the end but its really detailing my experiences with 5sos c: (its kind of sad but it means a lot to me that i finally put this into words)
i love 5sos. like a lot more than i could put into words. i have such a long and extensive history with this band that its just so much, like.
ive been a fan of 5sos since july 15th, 2014. i was 5/6 years old sitting on the front porch of my grandma's house with this girl i was friends with. she showed me some of their songs and i was in love. i didnt stop listening to them for years, they were my everything. idols, best friends, family, everything. and the only reason i stopped listening to them ever is because of some really heavy traumatic events that happened to me when i was 8-10 years old.
fast forward a few years, i start dating this guy. this guy really liked 5sos, he got me back into 5sos. my brain was so traumatized, it blocked out most of my memories with this band, with the fans of this band, etc. and him getting me to listen to their entire discography? yeah that brought them flooding back.
yet i still stayed, with him and the band again. this guy became really toxic. we argued every night, he blatantly ignored my needs, he got mad at me for getting more 5sos streams than him, he made fun of me for only listening to their old stuff. he acted like i hadnt told him, "hey, some really fucked up things happened to me in 2014-2016 and i forgot pretty much everything from those years so i kind of obsess over them"
but me and this guy were ldr, my mom took my phone, i texted him through a friends' phone. he starts cheating on me. i come back, my mom is having heart surgery, and he tells me i have to break up with him. so i do.
i break up with him, i go through the shit, i get pissed off, i get upset, i cry. i cry a LOT. and for a bit i didnt listen to 5sos. and then i get back into 5sos, because im not gonna change who i am at my very core because some idiot guy who was 'there first' made it about him. i'll make it about me again, i will obsess over it, i will go back to being six years old crying on the front porch with my best friend. i will go back to being a kid who didnt know why people didnt like her.
and i did. im back there, im who six year old me dreamed of being. sure, i have my days where the only thing i can do is cry and try not to hurl myself down a flight of stairs, but im still here arent i? ive made it to the age i always dreamed about being, havent i? im still absolutely in love with the same exact bands, the same exact places, the same exact aesthetics.
5sos is why im me, like that is such a beautiful and poetic thing to me. im still here because of a band, im still here because some guys that at the time were across the world gave me some motivation to keep going? of course im gonna love them. of course im gonna advertise the shit out of them. of course im gonna know every detail i possibly can about them.
like, i mean yeah, i took a little break. but i was forced to by my own brain. and even then, what helped me start healing form that trauma? 5sos. what helped me start healing from that breakup? 5sos.
tw for s/h + suicidal stuff under the cut! its nothing bad bad, just mentions attempts and stuff but its talking about getting better :3 tl;dr in bottom of the cut!
its so weird to say that "this guy who doesnt even know i exist, saved my life" but its true sometimes. like i was in such a bad place when i was younger that i couldnt function. yearly, i was being checked into psych wards. they never helped. i tried therapy, i tried medication. nothing worked.
and then 5sos came back into my life and i finally felt whole again. i finally felt like i was me again. i had been self harming since i was in the third grade, and once you cope like that for so long, its really hard to stop.
but i finally made the decision to get clean, i finally said "enough is enough, i dont want to be like this anymore. i wanna live and be healthy, i wanna live and be happy, i wanna wear shorts, i wanna wear skirts, i wanna wear short sleeves and tanks, i want to wear dresses without sleeves that show my thighs a little. and would ashton or luke or michael or calum really want me to do this to myself? no, no they wouldnt, get your shit together era." and so i did? i got it together, i made my life work. i started looking for the good again, i started behaving like a little kid that knew no bounds again, i started acting my age. i started loving me again. and thats powerful? thats metal as fuck.
the app that i use to track my clean streak has a section for "reasons to stay clean" i have pictures of my friends, my animals, and most importantly, the guys that finally inspired me to pick myself up off the floor and put myself back together.
because i did, i really had to scrounge up the broken pieces. i really had to dig deep and try and piece them back together. and it took work, and im still working on it. and even though ive been clean from s/h for three months, the urges are still there and every time theres just that little voice in my head that takes on ashton's that goes "hey dont, its not the right way." and every time i feel like the world is over, like i dont have anything else, it's always just a reminder.
there will be something else, no matter what theres gonna be something else. no matter what, the suns gonna rise again. no matter what, something good will come of all your pain, all your struggles, all your heartbreak, all the tears. the sleepless nights, the trauma, the guilt, the anger, the fear, the sadness, all of it. it means youre human, it means youre alive. it means good things are gonna happen, you just gotta wait for it. you gotta pick yourself up and keep going. keep fighting, keep running, keep walking. hell if you have to, keep crawling. keep crawling while youre crying. dont look back, youre not going that way. think of how far your faves have come, think of how your younger self wants to know what theyre gonna grow up to be. think.
its not over, it will never be over. pain is human, youre human. youre experiencing life as it was meant to be experienced, its okay to have off days.
tl;dr 5sos + me have been together since i was six and ashton irwin has quite literally kept me alive and from destroying myself mentally and physically for nearly ten years. cool beans bro

HIIII ROS i am sorry i never replied to your reply to my ask from a while ago i am so bad at that ;-; in response to that kinda (bc we were talking about jhariah) i did see them live! 3rd concert ive ever been to in my life & it was life changing... i was front row n there was a baby mosh pit n i was with my best friends it was so good <3 i didn't get to see all the songs off TRUST CEREMONY live but if he tours again i will try to get tix because i must see CONTROL BABY live... my faves are control baby n fire4fun n russian doll <3 but it is my fave album ever created (except maybe Måneskin's Teatro D'Ira vol 1)
Dont wanna yap too much but other music im liking rn: Dua Saleh's ROSETTA ep; Missouri Surf Club's songs Rotten & Kingdom Come; Jean Dawson's entire discography generically but specifically SICK OF IT* and New Age Crisis; Ethel Cain's everything; and then im still consistent w the narcissist cookbook, an unkindness, sons of the illustrious father etc. I have been getting into a crazy amount of music since summer started though so there are sooooo many others but i wanna know what you're listening to! i like your music taste as ive said :3
ANYWAY I think i might just send another ask because this is ramble-y n u dont have to reply to it bc its overwhelming but!! Yeah hehe okay p. 1 - mare
HII HI HI no worries!!!!!!! all good i'm also really terrible at it!!!!!! hehe <33 jhariah concert & mosh pit is SO awesome though.. man.. thats so cool.... love that experience for u!!!! <333
checking out all of these rn they're SOO GOOD.... dua saleh ROSETTA ep literally going on the repeat playlist rn omg. ough. how have i not heard them before. holy fucking shit. missouri surf club goood i love the florence influence.... jean dawson & ethel cain WHOO!!!! hell yeag. god. u also have such good music dude. good shit.!!!!!!!
what have i been listening to!!! shit!!! this is gonna be LONG but u asked for it!!! a lot of morcheeba (big calm), de la soul (the grind date), sneaker pimps (bloodsport), tricky (maxinquaye) <- one of my all time faves, madvillainy, cibo matto (viva! la woman), yaeji (with a hammer), chai (wink)... summer to me is usually very hot & humid & sticky & dreamy to me (busted ac) so this is my laying on the floor staring at the fan vaguely dissociating rotation.
other than hip hop & trip hop-- dragon new warm mountain i believe in you by big thief!!!!!! somehow never listened to this one & i'm ill over it. & july flame (other all time fave) by laura veirs & central reservation by beth orton (<- huge recent discovery ill over her voice) & broken social scene self titled for my acoustic rotation...
heavier set: been getting BIG into creature feature they're literally so fun. i think u might like them tbh. american gothic is my fave so far!! summer is for shitty pop punk 2 me!! esp. when i actually have to Do Stuff & not lay on the floor melting. so. we the kings, fall out boy (cork tree & infinity on high), the cab, the academy is..., yellowcard, motion city soundtrack, alkaline trio :]
ALSO special mention 2 blue sky black death (slow burning lights, late nite cinema, noir) bc their instrumentals make me so insanely nostalgic & have been my writing soundtrack for the past month!!!!

Hi!!! What do you honestly like about our boy Joji? What got you into him? Favorite song? Favorite quote from him?? Cool blog BTW. ❤️
Hiiiii <33333
Putting this under a read more because it got long af.
God i think part of the reason why im so obsessed with him is the duality of his character and artistic expression. He used to describe himself as conflicted a lot, especially in his earlier interviews and that pretty much hits the nail in the head i think. I love both his music and filthy frank a lot but I wouldn't be so fascinated with the person behind either of these things if they weren't made by the same guy. I just think he is a fascinating character.
What got me into him? I'm honestly pretty late to the party, i stumbled upon slow dancing in the dark on some random playlist at some point mid 2023. Slow dancing in the dark got famous for a reason: its so fucking good, i was playing it on a loop for weeks. Later i stumbled upon pretty boy, once again by pure chance. I was playing it on loop for a looong time as well. I hadn't even noticed that both of these songs were by the same artist at the time.
Fast forward a few months later, someone i follow here on tumblr dot com rebloged a post that expressed ops utter bafflement that filthy frank had turned his career around so dramatically and that he was a "sadboy musician now". The term slursona was thrown around. The ballads 1 album cover was included in the post and i recognised it imediatelly but i also recognised the name filthy frank.
You see, back in the day my older sister was a huge fan. She was really into this era of youtube bless her heart but ff was one of her faves. She had showed me human ramen AND hair cake back then but i was pretty young and I didn't really speak english well enough to fully understand what was going on. Nonetheless, i was morbidly fascinated but i never got into ff myself. Still i knew who he was.
Finding out that i was listening to his music a DECADE later from a random tumblr post gave me the whiplash of my fucking life. I genuinely got so scared i went and removed sditd from my character playlists and spotify liked songs lol. I let that revelation shimmer within me for a few months until one day i finally decided that i should do some research on the matter. I think i watched the slow dancing in the dark mv first and it completely blew me away. Then i watched the weeaboos video and it made me cry from laughter.
Somehow i ended up listening to his entire discography and watching Every Single filthy frank video ever made. At some point i discovered the notorious filthy frank exposes himself video and that once again blew my mind. I realised that he was the one who accidentally started the harlem shake trend back in 2013. Blew my mind. I listened to pink season ans i realised that the help song ive been seeing around since forever was a pink guy song. Blew my mind. I went home for the holidays and i talked to my other sister about my newfound obsession. Turns out she knew him from glimpses of us. Blew her mind too. Talked to my brother, he knew him from glimpses of us as well. We were all screaming about it for a few days.
This whole phase of mine started at some point in March and its only been getting worse. I don't know how we got here but im not complaining.
If i had to choose a favourite song.... sanctuary is my most listened to song of the year so far, so i probably have to go with that but also sditd, you suck Charlie, like you do, pretty boy, yukon, Mr Hollywood, no fun, demons, see you in 40, nightrider, modus (just to name a few)..... they all hold a very special place in my heart... I just love pretty much most of his songs a whole lot.
As for favourite quote im afraid I don't have a super serious answer to this question fjdksdks. "I just wanna make people sad and horny" is a strong one but also "sorry for being An Fag" and "fucking everyone smokes weed in central park...." fascinate me to no end.
Thank you so much for your questions !! <33 its always nice to have an excuse to ramble tehe.

Let me show you the world of my hell hole of a playlist
Obviously I need to share the good word of the Sonic Vocal Tracks like dude i will make you sit and listen to all of them if i have to but my personal favorites are “This Machine” from Sonic Heroes, “Find Your Flame” and “Im Here” from Sonic Frontiers, “Live & Learn” from Sonic Adventure 2 and “I Am… All of Me” from Shadow the Hedgehog. They are a little more metal/rock ish sorry if my music terms are off but yeah you will be screaming you will be so pumped
Also literally just any track from any Lupin III media is so fucking good omfg. So Jazzy and upbeat you will feel so radical. My favorite intros are from Part 2 and also “Superhero” is a transcending experience I lives in my head rent free. Yuhi Ohno’s work is honestly just so good just skip immediately to his entire discography
Ok im sorry im a hardcore MARINA and Girls Love Shoes fan its just who i am inside. I need to come clean. Girls Love Shoes’ “Supamedicine” is my godsend its my holy grail. MARINA always drops bangers the people know her not much to say than that.
Also some random out of pocket ones. Any minecraft parody ever, any pop song from the 2000’s, animation meme songs that haunt you for life, the living tombstone and specifically She Wolf but nightcore. Just night/daycore / slowed down/speed up just to get a little cray cray.
Alot of my own music taste is just a bunch of Punk Rock and other random artists scattered about, sorry if you already listen to these guys </3 My entire playlist is a tonal nightmare its older than most average playlists. Been going strong since like 7th grade
DONT WORRY LOL MY PLAYLIST IS AIDS TOO ive had it since i got my first phone in 6th grade because i like to put all the songs i like ever in one playlist and hit shuffle on that ^_^
SONIC SHIT: I LIKED THIS. ROBOOTY WAS A FAN OHHH YESSS... DONT WORRY IDK HOW MUSIC TERMS WORK EITHER LOL BUT THIS IS GOOD. **nods head** ITS LOUD ITS GOT A VERY FULL SOUND I LIKE IT A LOT YESS!!!
LUPIN SHIT: DUDEEE I FUCKING LOVE THE LUPIN SOUNDTRACKS TOO!!! I FUCKING LOVE JAZZY SHIT ITS SO GOOD ITS SO FIRE I LOVE IT I LOVEEE WHAT LUPIN IS IN I ALWAYS DO BE PLAYING THAT LUPIN OPENING ON TAIKO!!!! I need to check out yuhi ohnos discography properly.... i always am slacking ok
GIRLS LOVE SHOES: i listened to supamedicine and it was pretty good! it was pleasant i was like **nods head** if my buddy put it on i wouldnt go "well... if you wanted to go to teen sex cove you couldve just asked 😏" but id be like **nods head in approval** and then continue talking about how my soundcloud almost got deleted for reposting yaoi christmas carols. anyways secret.. im actually not really a marina fan. like primmadonna and oh no is okay theyre like 5/10 to me but idk i just aint into her shit
RANDOM SHIT: IM NGL I DIDNT LISTEN TO A LOT OF MINECRAFT PARODIES BECAUSE THEY WERE PARODIES OF POP MUSIC AT THE TIME AND I HATTTTTEEDD POP MUSIC LOL. i think some are ok like dont mine at night but i cant really think of any others i liked. i still am not really big on modern pop in fact i kind of hate like a lot of it lol im a hater by birth 💔 I ALSO... **says this on the cross** HAVE HATED ANIMATION MEMES FROM THE MOMENT I WAS BORN TOO. i used to get so mad id be like THATS NOT A MEME!!!! THATS A SHITTY LOOPED GIF THAT HAS NO JOKES AT ALL!!!!! idk i never was an animation meme kid.... i always looked up to newgrounds animation and like people who made full mv parodies of vocaloid mvs or cola shake dance yknow but i liked those because i think theyre different from animation memes. its a completely different vibe and i think that comparing shit like burihamachi or the pappara baby boy thing to animation memes is like comparing manga and comics. theyre the same thing in principal but COMPLETELY different vibe yknow? anyways yeah i was a hater and refused to watch them in my lifetime... 💔💔💔 I LIKE THE LIVING TOMBSTONE THOUGH I LOVEE THE SONG CATS OUGHHH THATS SO GOOD.... i never listened to them a lot i only know like 3 songs lol so erm i dont consider myself a living tombstone fanboy since i think id be considered a poser 💔 LOOK IVE ALWAYS LIVED UNDER A ROCK IM ALWAYS SEVENTEEN YEARS LATE TO EVERY PARTY EVER!!! I NEVER EVEN LIKED FNAF I WAS INTO THE NIGHTGUARDS BUT DIDNT CARE ABOUT THE GAME THE LORE THE ANIMATRONICS I LITERALLY DID NOT GIVE A FUCK I NEVER WATCHED A SINGLE MATPAT VIDEO OR LISTENING TO ANY FNAF SONGS!! i was an asdf movie and newgrounds + niconico douga kid ermmmmm anybody like danjo danjo? anyways i do like nightcore! i love listening to nightcore of 80s songs ohh yes... i only listen to out of touch nightcore 😏😏😏
sorry for long tangents but yknow how robooty empire is. THE KING LOVES TO SPEAK! THANK YOU FOR THESE RECS ESPECIALLY THE SONIC SHIT I BE LIKE OHHH ME LIKEY 😍

like i said im the prek outreach coordinator for my library so this summer i drive the big rainbow van every where and do all the storytimes and i love the van it’s wonderful but it doesn’t have aux so i went and i checked out a joni mitchell cd to put in it which is ridiculous bcuz i have to completely clear the van every night to return the key so i have to keep putting cds in my pocket to make sure i have one whenever i end up in the van life happens fast. anyway listening to this joni mitchell cd cuz i love a case of you but im not really that familiar with her discography but then the song carey came on and ive never heard it but it descended upon me like a siren and immediately blasted me with intense visions of pariging and it’s like i forgot there was something wrong with my brain it’s been dormant for so long but i got a blast of pure energy that filled my brain with sparks and now i am thinking about them again and i keep putting the cd in and skipping to track 4 and then playing it over and over again to watch my amv and the kicker is like any normal person would probably fail to conceive why this song made me think about pariging ive just read so many fanfictions tht i believe crazy things

Okay wait
Idk if I’m alone in this but I’ve never seen people say this
But like
I really really don’t like when people say things like “men/guys who like Taylor Swift>>>”
Like seriously they make it seem like such a massive feat and act as if it shows a great display of character (actually it does, don’t get me wrong, but why exclusively men in that case 😭😭😭)
Like hello- other genders do in fact also listen to Taylor Swift but hey I haven’t heard you say a word about them
And in my short time having TikTok (I truly hate that app and find myself to be much happier after deleting it) I see the most irritating guys always making videos about how they’re ~ different ~ because they listen to Taylor Swift
EXCEPT
EXCEPT
The only song
That I have EVER seen them singing or playing in one of those silly videos
is, you belong with me, (just the bridge that too) and it’s just like- sir do you like know any of her… idk… other songs amongst the abundance of them that she has released?? Fun fact her discography amounts to over 200…
Also a real swiftie guy wouldn’t make that big a deal of it- he’d just casually run his my tears ricochet account and whatever lol
And it gives the same energy as that one guy who posted vids of him reading a book shirtless thinking he was atlas corrigan (the guy from it ends with us I believe ALSO PLS don’t misunderstand me- I HATE it ends with us I don’t like the author or any of her other books- they are disgusting- and I hate that genre trope in general!! I am a COLLEEN HOOVER ANTI) anyway yes, this one guy literally just reading or something and 2000 people going crazy over him in the comments??? Like hello??? I guarantee you that I read 1000x more books than he has in his lifetime in like a week??
Anyway it’s just the whole praising men for doing the bare-minimum that’s so off-putting as always and it allows these weirdos to feed right off that
And of course I seldom see posts which say something like ‘[insert gender] who listen to Taylor Swift>>>>
So yeah that’s all
So, i wanna make clear smth first: im both, the worst and the best person you couldve send this.
Okay so im just gonna go full queer mood from here.
First, the gender binary there bothers me. So. Much. Like. Okay. They're just cishet girls expressing their sexuality, its fine. But i just cant help to notice it everytime.
AND then you realize that no one goes and say Woman who listen taylor swift>>>>>> and its just. Like. Wtf. I really never ever have seen someone celebrate any kind of girl that way, its always the woman that feels lucky of finding a guy interested on their fandoms.
And añmdpwnspdnap id say queer rights cuz sapphics and nd pals and unlabeled ppl?? So many cool ways to express gender and you pick the guy that only plays ybwm okay-
Tbh ive never been interested on reading Colleen Hover. But yes, for some reason ppm always seems to celebrate cishet guys doing like normal stuffs?? Like, TS even talks about it on TheMan mv.
Idkidk, on one hand i know most of the things behind tha treanding bother me cuz im aroace and demigirl, but also pandoqkwoqnaoqlqpamwpw violence

heyy fellow crj stan here!!! i saw her live in 2019 and she was fantastic. whats ur fave song? its kind of silly but feels right and tiny little bows are my faves haha. oh maybe also bucket.
heyyy! ive been a fan since around emotion but i still havent heard her live im so jealous
cool choices! i rarely listen to kiss and tug of war so i dont listen to the last two very often. but ive been playing dedicated on repeat lately. thank you so much for giving me an excuse to talk about crj <3
my faves from each album that i regularly listen to:
emotion:
i mostly listen to emotion in one go without any skips. as a result i dont really have a favourite. but ive been listening to never get to hold you a lot recently because it feels like a bridge between the emotion era and her newer work.
emotion side b:
cry. it's simultaneously melodramatic and earnest in a way that only carly can do.
dedicated:
i'll be your girl. i love this song soooo much. the kinda ska inspired instrumentals + the darker subject matter make this such a unique song in her discography.
everything he needs. i love it when she gets silly. fun!! again, one of the most distinctive things about crj is how earnest she always sounds. also, i love the original shelley duvall version.
dedicated side b:
fake mona lisa. this could be my favourite crj song. i love the theme and lyrics. i prefer songs with more abstract lyrics that kind of wash over you. this track fits the bill perfectly and also is really fun to analyse. it is too short though!
now i dont hate california after all. this is a polarising song but i personally love it. i like quite maximalist pop with lots of texture - the watery sound effects are so cute. i love the theme and lyrics - the idea of falling in love with a place because you become besotted with someone. it feels refreshing - learning to become uncynical.
(summer love and this is what they say are also great)
the loneliest time:
sideways. cuuuuuute. crj makes music to smile to. the sparkly instrumentation and lyrics would sound cheesy from another artist but crj just puts her heart into everything.
bends. dreamy and smooth. music to listen to on your bed in complete darkness. again, pretty and abstract lyrics. (though i dont like the "blue eyes" line because it kind of pulls me out of the song)
western wind. same reasons as the one above. but this time it's music to listen to in a summer field at night. also i love the motif of california in her music.
so nice. one of the rare times you can use "saccharine" as a compliment. i have to be in the right mood for this one but it's just so delightful.
(all three bonus tracks could make this list but i cant separate them)
the loveliest time:
shadow. this is one of her best songs. im in love with the lyrics. im in love with the instrumentation. if i could recommend anyone a crj song, it would probably be this one. thearchitectureofthisconnectionisyourreflectionisalwaysfollowingme...
kollage. crj makes music that feels like floating in the middle of a lake. i sound like a broken record but i just love the way she uses words. it feels so effortless. it doesnt feel like she has sat down and laboriously written them down - it feels like she is just speaking spontaneously. in a poetic but simple way. (Living with uncertainty like nothing really matters / Passed the future on my way to work / And found myself back in bed with you)
aeroplanes. this is like 3 songs in one. i like the off kilter beat.
weekend love. this song has a special place in my heart. i like the way the meaning of the song (about looking back at an affair), feels like it is looking back at the album and finding closure. it feels comfortingly mature (Got me so high but everybody comes down) (Alright, guess it was a past life / I haven't seen you around / But it's alright, I'm alright, ah / Soft light hits me on the high line / So go on fooling around / I'll be alright, I'm alright, ah)

10 artists you've liked in your life and 10 artists you would like to one day like?
hi im going off the assumption this is about music lmao because i have a long long list of artists i need to listen to/get into but i havent because im lazy and need to sit in a sensory deprivation chamber basically to process new music
10 i like/liked (obv taylor is one but im not including her because duh. but my list is predictable probably)
1. noah kahan
2. waterparks esp their recent album intellectual property thank u to @heystephen for bringing me to enlightenment
3. olivia rodrigo has not made a bad song literally ever the talent she has is crazy
4. sabrina carpenter. stream feather and decode btw
5. ricky montgomery (ive loved him and sab for years and im so so so happy theyve finally gotten their big breaks in music in the past few years)

hello! hope ur doing well! i love reading ur answers and getting to know more abt u sm! its just amazing how days go by so quickly and busily like u blink and suddenly its 4 of them passed already! apologies! unlike u, im still infant-level fan to kpop (got pulled by skz) and being as hyperfocused on skz as i was, dont know any other kpop groups like i do skz sadly, but i do love music! i love shinee's stuff sm!!! and my best friend really likes xdinary heroes so im getting into them too! and txt just have some of the funnest bsides so their discography gets scoured too lmao. i just dont know any grps members or anything well, but yeah! like u said, lots of good music raining down. i will never understand ppl's bias against non native language songs-esp when they like english stuff and its not their mother tongue!-bcs kpop has such a range. so many interesting sounds, artists and genres!! from past year ive really found myself drawn to soft-ish(?) k-indie/rock a lot! u asked for newer artists (ik so less abt bands. this is a personal failure</3) some of my favorites i think are: lee go do, mingginyu, nerd connection! akmu, heo hoy kyung, se seo neon, etc etc just lots of solo lowkey artists and songs lmao. there's smth abt the lapping continuity of soft sounds and forming of language like that which enthralls me a lot. i really adore loud and wonderful girl group songs as well!! i listen to girl groups a whole lot more than bgs which is surprising bcs i love skz, but their immaculate energy and style! really love aespa, rv, loona! stayc, twice, billie, izone and others! do u listen to lucy the band? their stuff's really fun as well! i rambled sm lmao but yeah. music is so exciting in so many aspects its amazing. i love listening to a lot of languages and genres too! mostly bcs my brain's engagement is a pinball game and i am keeping it amused with fifty different things at the same time. which is why i just have a lot of recs for songs but none for artists bcs i collect and find interesting stuff but get obsessed easily, which makes it difficult to get into every artist particularly. would love to trade playlists or songs once this secret santa is over if ud be comfortable with that! (no pressure genuinely!) thank u for reading and indulging me! its funny how everything is still so busy even tho we here dont celebrate christmas that extensively like the west at all (asian!) holidays are holidays tho i guess lmao. hope u have lots of fun sweets and gifts well wishes and rest and reprieve!! stay safe!!
ps- top 3 artists?? that i found and fell in love with so bad this year?? would be youra! yukika and ahn ye eun! and now i dont know how much any of the artists song would be up your alley but im vibrating to recommend them to everybody so bad but id recommend mimi, raww from youra; neon 1989, soul lady, pit-a-pet (or any! she's amazing) from yukika; and burn like a star, full bloom, night flower, moon during the day or any! (im just. obsessed with her voice and how she likes doing her music smm) from ahn ye eun! u dont even have to listen to these if u dont want to, i just wanted to share lmao. do u have some particular artists whose sound u adore to unseeming degrees? also! fav japanese artists(if any)? ! im always on lookout for new music!! have a good day!!!
hi!! sorry again for answering this so late, like you said, the days go by in a flash lmao. thank you so much for those recommendations, i'm excited to check them out!! once i have the time 😅 i think after christmas i’ll be doing a lot of chilling and art + new music will be perfect. i totally feel you on collecting songs over artists usually, i do the same because i find good songs randomly from cafes, movies, spotify recommended, etc. and just put them all into a playlist, lol. i would LOVE to trade playlists with you. anything you recommend will be much appreciated. i really need more indie recs and good gg songs, i only really know mamamoo but i think they’re great. i’ve heard some singles from the other groups you mentioned that i like a lot too but i don’t know any of their b-sides.
oh wow you’re located in asia? that’s very cool, is it hot there right now or are you more in the north? i’m in california so we don’t get very “wintery” vibes even in december, but it has been raining a bit which is really nice and refreshing. also, today is my birthday! so we had a really great banana cake my family made, and they also made an incredible brunch. we’re going ice skating in a little bit and then having a bonfire on the beach in the evening. hope you’re having a good day as well! merry christmas if you celebrate 🎅🎄✨💝

checked out a few artists and i like a few songs by them (dijon, umi, rini, rimon) 😎 i've very casually listened to shay and heard of lolo zouaï, but never got around to listen to her so it's a sign that i should!! i've been slowly getting into dpr ian recently and i will for sure listen to dounia ♡
i think you might like muse (their album absolution is a fav), maybe also the pretty reckless and this might sound basic lol, but the weeknd's album kiss land is really good and imo very underrated in his discography -♡
YOU WERE SO QUICK TO DO IT i’m in awe omg
so glad you liked it so far!!! i know music is subjective but i love sharing jejzkzjs (oh!! what are your favorite dpr songs then??)
i actually listen to muse a bit (ive been listening to a few of their popular songs recently but i never digged into the side tracks, i’ll be sure to do it then .)
twd was actually my top artist last year so you def are right that it’s my type of music 😭(even if YES it’s quite mainstream but sometimes popular is good….) What are your top 10 K-pop songs of 2022 so far?
Damn, someone's a mind reader! I actually wanted to this on my own accord, but now I can just use this ask to tell you my Top 10 K-pop Songs of 2022... so far.
10. Still Life by BIGBANG
I was superbly hyped, because this was my first BIGBANG comeback ever since I became a k-pop fan. I really enjoy this song, although it never found it's way into the songs I listen to on repeat. It also suffers from another song, but more to that later. All in all, good song.
09. ESPER by Eunbi
The music video and outfits were already hype/hot af, but the actual song is really enjoyable and I found myself jamming hard to it. It's a blast during car rides, which is an important "stat" for me. It's also easily better (imo) than her other releases, which is saddening cuz it got not that much attention.
08. Can't Control Myself by Taeyeon
Fantastic mv, exceptional song, a beginning of the year gem! Taeyeon delivers with a song that I couldn't get enough of months ago and even now, it's just soooo good! While everyone was talking about INVU, I was still totally engaged in this beauty. Love it!
07. WILDSIDE by Red Velvet
No cap, this is one of my Top 3 favorite Red Velvet Songs, next to Bad Boy and Psycho. But Smite, it's japanese I was really surprised that it was actually great and interesting, because I'm not that high on RV TTs it's not k-pop, cmon! Most of the outfits were awesome as well and when you listen to it on full power... DAYUM
06. Everyday by PSY
I know that you don't know this song. So listen to it! For me it's nostalgia and freedom combined, a great feeling that makes me want to travel back in time and be at one of those water festivals... sigh
05. TOMBOY by (G)I-DLE
I saw this song live. It's f------ awesome, and I couldn't care less about all the hate. From my second listen till now, my opinion has stayed the same: TOMBOY perfectly fits in Idle's discography in terms of my enjoyment. Fantastic song!
04. Blessed-Cursed by ENHYPEN
I saw this song live as well. It slaps hard from the moment it starts, and continues to stay in my head till now. Easily fitting into an on-repeat playlist and I never regret clicking on it. ENHYPEN really being very good but getting a lot of hate, huh?
03. O by VERIVERY
Yeah. I laughed when I first read that title. And then I listened to the song. And again, and again, and again. This song is enticing, it's on loop. I love the calm vibe, the hook gives me a calming chill (does that even make sense?). The MV is also awesome, reminds me of I NEED U by BTS. This will probably remain my favorite VERIVERY Song ever, they randomly struck gold in my heart lol
02. JIKJIN by Treasure
If it weren't for No. 1, this would be the car song of the year. Driving around at any time with this on half to full power feels incredible. Treasure came back strong with this one, and I'll pay closer attention to them now. Randomly, YG can still have something good happen to them, huh?
But tbh, No. 1 is so far ahead, it ain't even a competition.
01. LOVE DIVE by IVE
I loved ELEVEN and after my first listen, I though LOVE DIVE was not as good. Boy, was I mistaken! If not for some absurd miracle, LOVE DIVE will easily be my SOTY. It makes me feel beyond everything. The anti-drop, although expectable, is great, the second part of the hook god-like, the dance enchanting, Yujin is STUNNING; GORGEOUS AHHHHH. I will even say this: It is one of my Top 10 favorite K-pop songs ever right now!

@lordsky4ever tagged me to list 4 albums I’ve been listening to most, and he used Spotify to share his list.  I stopped using Spotify this year but opened it up just to see my albums and it claims I haven’t even listened to 4 albums which I know is blatantly false, but regardless, here’s my sweet list.  @bloodnet and @cohst are up there with some true legends.   People have been boycotting Spotify, and I just wanted to clarify my reasons for doing so was strictly because I got annoyed of listening to ads all the time.  I swapped over to using YouTube for music for a bit because as least you can use adblock but their AI is terrible at suggesting music, so what I decided to do was go back to the ol’ Winamp and download an entire artist’s discography and go through each album three times before listening to their next album, deleting songs as I dislike them. I’m very early in the process, and I have the dumbest assortment of artists so far.  I started with Avril Lavigne, her first two albums are solid, and then it’s pretty rough and got worse each album onward.  Next was Evanescence and I was a big big fan of the first two albums, like “wow all bangers” but then again, the reaper comes for us all on the 3rd album.  The next logical artist I chose to listen to was The Beatles, who I have never really tried to listen to.  After my teenage angst band kick I thought I should just start from the beginning of “classic artists.”  I struggled/barely tried finding a torrent of their albums that wasn’t all .FLACs, so I downloaded like their 53 #1 hits or whatever the number was.  Not really how I’d have liked to gone through it, but anyway like half their songs are just completely not for me so I’m sure I saved a lot of time.  With the same theme in mind I moved on to Led Zeppelin, who I had much higher hopes for.  I did find .mp3 albums no issue, but they just really ain’t my jam.  I got through I-IV but none of their other albums before giving up, each album only had like one to three songs I liked and it just felt silly.  At that point I realised I should just start working on bands I know I like, so I’ve been going through all of Depeche Mode’s albums, but they’ve got a shit-tonne so I’m only on Exciter which is their 10th album not counting compilation albums or anything, and that’s going fine.  Not sure what band I’ll go with next, lots of time to decide. Anyways, to answer the specific question the 4 albums I am listening to the most, I guess it would be the aforementioned first 2 albums of both Avril Lavigne (Let Go & Under My Skin) and Evanescence (Origin + Anywhere But Home).  Very cool guy!
