You're a slut for backstory, huh?
You Can't Run Away- Part 2
Part 1 here!!
"Ralph Bohner" x Reader
Summary: The plot thickens!! It was supposed to be simple. Save Peter and get out. However, being under the control of two different witches affected your multiversal powers. Thankfully Peter is now "awake", however, he won't leave your side.
Also known as I try to fix Marvel's weird ass left open is he or isn't he Ralph Bohner storyline.
[Most just light angst and fluff]
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Mutant, I know her, well used to. Apparently Wanda isn't the only one breaking through the multiverse." Peter explains quietly to Jimmy.
"You mean she can create portals to other wor-"
"-she needs to be in witness protection with me, Jimmy." Peter cuts him off quickly.
You had risked so much to break through the multiverses strict hold, and all for what?
Him?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You blink up at the harsh white florescent lights burning your eyes from above head. When you move to roll over, you unintentionally groan quietly in pain at the soreness rooted in your muscles.
Your eyes protest at staying open under the bright lights, so you move to rub your hand over your eyes, but wince at the uncomfortable tug from your inner arm. Squinting down, you notice the IV connecting you to the IV bag. Easily giving up, you drop your arm back on top of the scratchy (what you assumed to be) hospital sheets surrounding your form. Moving to lift your other hand, you struggle at the heaviness of it before glancing over to figure out what else happened while you were asleep.
It was not what you expected.
Never in a million years would you guess the reason you couldn't lift up your hand was because of Peter Maximoff's big head weighing it down. His forehead was pressed against your open palm as he slept hunched over from the uncomfortable looking chair at the side of your bed.
Peter's silver hair was tussled and messy as he snored quietly, barely noticeable if he wasn't so close to you. It was almost endearing seeing him this way until you remembered what happened and why you were here.
You jerk your hand out from under Peter's head, watching as he jerks to sit up straight, wide eyes meeting yours.
"Hey, you're awake! How are you feeling? I'm go get the doc." Peter babbled before hopping up and speeding away, returning back to his chair in less than a second.
"Peter," You start, his rich brown eyes concerned as they meet yours," We need to go..."
Peter sighs heavily, running his hand through his shiny locks, then reaches out to place his hand over yours, "We can't just run away from all of this Y/n."
"It's not running away, we don't belong here. This is the wrong universe- we don't belong here."
"We? We never belonged there anyway." Peter exclaims before scoffing and elaborating," You can't act like you don't know what I'm talking about either. Everyone avoids us, Y/n, no matter how hard we try to fit in we can't... But here? I was wanted here. I have my twin. We could do something amazing if we stay."
"We are not a we anymore, Peter. There's nothing for me here." You state as calmly as you could, slowly standing up and trying to focus on creating the portal back to your universe.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Damn it, you mentally groan.
Dr. Strange was already there, mansplaining," You'll drain yourself too much, which could be fatal, Y/n. Agatha's spells greatly affected you within the Hex while you were with Peter. Even if you did make it back, you wouldn't make it to where you left, you would be in the future. Get-"
"Then how did I manage to get here, since this is the future?" You question him, turning to face him as he stood in the doorway.
"I presumed Wanda unintentionally helped you, however, going to the future is far easier than going to the past. The past is like stone while the future is like clay; still moldable."
You nod slowly, it made some sort of sense. But now you were stuck here. With your ex-boyfriend no less.
"Get some rest while I continue to work with Wanda on trying to get you back. Peter." Dr. Strange nods at him, an unspoken look shared between the two men before Strange literally vanished in front of your eyes.
"..What did you mean, there's nothing for you here? I'd be here, Y/n..." Peter trails off, and you can feel his stare on you as you sit back on the bed.
"You know what I meant." You sigh tiredly and half in annoyance.
"Stop lying to me, you kissed me back... You want me just as much as I want you.. Whether you admit it or not." Peter smirks half heartedly at you from the uncomfortable chair.
He looked was tired, exhausted even, which was highly unusual for a restless speedster. You could tell because Peter would never half heartedly tease you like this unless he was tired. That as well as the dark bags under his eyes made it pretty clear too.
"How long was I asleep, Peter?" You ask, feeling like you already knew the reason to Peter's exhaustion.
"Uhmmm.. about a week, I think..." Peter mumbles, rubbing at the back of his neck before yawning.
"You look like you haven't slept in a week, speedy." You tell him quietly.
"Well, probably cause I haven't." Peter chuckles, leaning back in the hard chair," I've been waiting on you to wake up. Hard to sleep when the person I love is hooked up to so many annoying machines."
You can't help but smile at him. Even still, Peter was the sweetest guy you'd ever met.
"Aweee, little miss grouchy pants is smiling~" He teases, leaning forward with his elbow on your bed and you roll your eyes at his teasing.
"Shut up." You huff, trying to hide your smile.
"No, I don't think I will. You try to act all tough and that you don't need anybody, but here you are. Moving through the multiverse for me and saving me. Even though then I had to save you..."
"You're so dramatic, it's not a big deal.." You try to brush off his words as he continues to lean in closer to you.
"If it wasn't a big deal, you wouldn't be here right now." Peter whispers hushedly, inches away from your face.
You reach up and cup his cheeks as he smiles at you.
"Maybe you're right Maximoff..." You whisper before leaning up and brushing your lips against his.
"I was so worried about you," Peter whispers against your lips then captures them in a swift kiss.
"I'm okay Peter." You assure him quietly and then return his kiss with one of your own.
You break from his lips, panting softly, trying to catch your breath.
"Cuddle with me?" You question softly, watching as a grin spread over his lips.
"You wanna cuddle with Mr. Bohner?"
"Not anymore," You laugh as the smirk falls from his lips, but he climbs in beside you anyway, strong arms easily pulling you into his chest.
"I can't believe you picked Ralph Bohner as your name for witness protection." You tease him, poking at the cute pout on his lips as you lay half on his chest.
"I think its a great name." Peter hums, cuddling his face into your pillow, smiling at you. "So we're gonna stay?"
"Well, I can't run away..." You whisper, returning his smile as you lean into peck his lips.
"Good because I'm exhausted, babe." Peter yawns once again before snuggling closer to you and you fell asleep cuddling Mr. Bohner.
reid’s anatomy pt. 2
Tumblr media
summary: after seeing spencer in the OR, you have no other choice but to wait and see if he makes it or not
word count: 1,827                                                                                               reading time: 7 mins
masterlist
Pt. 1
My spine had succumbed to the soreness that had spread throughout my lower body as me and Morgan sat almost lifelessly together on cold hospital floors.
If Spencer was present at the moment, he would ramble about the billion strains of bacteria and viruses incomprehensible by the naked eye, at which our skin would be exposed to. But he wasn’t here, he’s laying placid under OR lights that were just as bright as Time Square’s streets at night and a scalpel just as sharp as the sushi chef in the japanese cuisine he took me out for our 2 year anniversary.
Morgan still continued to stroke my head, our tear ducts running dry as the minutes passed us. I sat up from his shoulder, facing him for the first time since he came to check up on me.
“What happened out there?” I asked disdainfully. It was evident in my tone that I held some sort of animosity, possibly blame towards the team for not protecting Spencer. But deep down I knew that no matter how many cautionary provisions they’ve taken, you can never dodge the inevitable.
He flinched at the presence on my voice, not anticipating that I would be so prominent in speaking. He shifted to face the ceiling, sighing as he dragged his hand over the bridge of his nose.
“I-i can’t even to begin to explain Y/N. I-i’m so sorry” He repented, his eyes beginning to water again. I prolonged my examination of him, egging him to continue his narrative.
He now bowed his head, laying them on his hands that were supported by his knees. “We were with the unsub right” He painted out the scenario, I nodded while following along with his recollection of the events. “We were in the middle of a standoff. We had about 3 additional agents with us and the police force, but me and Reid were hanging back behind the unsub, in case he had tried to escape...” He paused in the midst of his sentence, taking in a breath as he began to choke on a few words.
“It was supposed to be me” He confessed, earning a look of perplexity from me. “The unsub had a kid in hostage, and the kid got in the middle of me and the unsub. So naturally I went to take the kid away, but I made the stupid mistake of dropping my gun. Obviously, the unsub heard and turned around to shoot me and the kid since we were both defenseless. But...Reid, he-. He shoved both me and the kid, taking the shot himself”.
The words that came from Morgan’s lips were incoherent by the time he finished. He looked over to me, his eyes exhibiting a great deal of grief before searching my own for a response or clemency.
In contrast to the circumstances that were placed before us, a forced chuckle lunged out from my throat, acquiring Morgan’s attention. A morbid smile planted on my lips as I thought about Spencer.
“He would’ve been such a good father. Don’t you think?” I asked using the same tone from earlier. Morgan agreed apprehensively, sorrow still evident by the way his body responded to mine.
“He deserves children. Doesn’t he, Derek?”
“Y/N- I don’t understa-”
“Then he should be able to have them” I snapped, slamming my fist against the wall behind me. Morgan reached a comforting hand out, but I swatted his hand away. I gave him a crazed look, running my hand through my hair. “H-he should have a family, he deserves a future...Morgan, he should be...alive. That’s how it’s supposed to be” I choked out, word vomit spilling from my mouth as my thoughts swirled around my head at a thousand miles an hour, any sense of rationality I had depleting.
“Y/N- I-”
Soft sobs racked my entire body and defeated whimpers had crawled up my esophagus. I rocked myself back and forth, burying my head into my arms until all I saw was the artificial darkness I placed myself in. It was almost a cocoon that composed of me and my thoughts, regardless if Morgan was next to me.
My own heartbeat was ringing in my ears, drowning out any other noise around me, including Morgan. That wasn’t until I heard scurried footsteps, metal hitting metal, and the attending inside the OR yelling brutal commands at the staff.
It suddenly came clear to me when Morgans hand gripped mine and all that could be heard from the OR was, “his BP is down, he’s going into V-fib, we’re losing him”. At that moment, my heart stopped and my vision dwindled, I was too tired to react. Pain resurfaced as my mind grew dizzy, next followed the sensation in my arms, legs, and back. Finally, my consciousness inevitably followed in its footsteps as it withered away to the sound of the doctors frantically shifting around to save Spencer’s life.
-
Light began to be apparent again, my vision gradually retaining it’s efficiency as I noticed I was placed on a hospital chair. I rubbed my eyes, sitting up in the seat that I was slumped down on, scratching my head while my eyes examined the environment.
The first thing that had caught my attention was that I wasn’t in the hallway anymore, but in a post-op room. My eyes felt heavy from all the crying I’ve done previously and my forehead grew hot from the stress I’ve undergone.
The sound of voices pricked my ears, and in curiosity, I stood up to investigate. Getting closer to the noise, I noticed my legs were tender and that I had a great difficulty at maneuvering around.
How long was I out?
I finally got to my destination and was met with a privacy curtain that ran from the ceiling to the floor. I heard a multitude of voices that rang from the other side of the curtain.
Uneasiness set in my bones, not wanting to get my hopes up. I slowly pushed the fabric aside, letting my presence be known, and let me tell you, it was the best decision I’ve made.
To my fortune, there stood the attending that was operating on Spencer with the rest of the crew that surrounded a single bed. On that hospital bed laid the love of my live.
Spencer was the first one I locked eyes with, he was in the middle of speaking with his colleagues when we did, which halted his speech. In recognition of Spencer’s pause, all eyes were then relocated to me. Although I didn’t reciprocate anyone else’s glances, except Spencer.
“C-can we have a moment of privacy please?” Spencer requested, looking at his doctor for approval.
The attending nodded in agreement, shifting his focus to me and gave me a hopeful smile. The same smile I would give to my patients after a successful surgery. Everyone filed out after the doctor one by one, leaving Morgan to be the last one out.
As he exited the room, I stopped him by the shoulder and silently thanked him. He returned the gesture with a large smile, nudging me towards Spence. When the room was finally empty, I inched towards spencer with the brightest smile I can wear. His eyes shone nothing but love as he continued to gawk at me venturing towards him.
When I finally got to his side, he greeted me with an amiable ‘hello’ like it was the first time we met. He reached out for my hand, placing it on his chest for comfort and giving it an affectionate kiss.
I, then, proceeded to lovingly whack him upside the head in return, earning a playful wince from him.
“I swear to god Spencer Reid, if you ever, and I mean EVER, put me through anything like that again, I will personally go into the OR and cut your LVAD wire and kill you myself, bec-”
“Y/N, honey, I’m here no-”
“DON’T. Don’t you dare tell me to calm down Spence because I will have to be restrained and placed in a mental hospital when I lose my license for kicking the IQ out of you” I finished, heaving as I gathered my composure.
Spencer looked at me amused, gripping my hand in his and hauling me closer to the side of his bed. “Y/N Y/L/N, I’m sorry for putting you through everything you went through” He looked up at me with sincere eyes, melting all the disdain that swelled in my heart.
I sighed, leaning down to lay my head on his chest, in which he gave me permission to hop into his bed. I pulled him in closer, terrified that he might vanish from my grasp into thin air. “Spencer, I love you so much” I sniffled, muffling my words into his chest. “You have no idea Spence, I-i felt so lost and hopeless. I-i couldn’t do anything to save you, they-they wouldn’t let me” I sobbed, my throat tightening up as the words spilled actively from my lips.
Spencer quieted me down, stroking my hair as I spoke. “I don’t know where I’d be without you Spence”. I looked up at the man who held me, my heart beating in delight, in contrast to the emotion my face was probably expressing.
He leaned in pressing a long lasting kiss on my lips, then he proceeded to reciprocate the same gesture on my forehead. “You’re my absolute everything Y/N’ He sighed. “Before I- before everything became a blur, all I could think of was you. All I could think of was that I took out one less person that can harm you. I love you so much Y/N”.
A comforting silence followed after, creating an environment of serendipity. I toyed with the hospital gown that covered his body, thinking of all the events that had occured before, thanking the heavens for the outcome that was given to me and praying for the future.
“I want a baby” I professed without warning, feeling Spencer tense up in surprise.
“W-what did you say Y/N?”
“I want a baby, I want to start a family with you” I continued, adjusting my position to get a good look at his reaction. “I want to have a baby now” I declared, determination dripping from my confession.
Spencer chuckled, gesturing to the IV and the tubes that were wired into him. “I would be glad to Y/N, but I’m kind of a human experiment as this moment” He joked.
We both chuckled in glee, holding each other tight as we basked in the pleasant scene. “But I would love to have little Y/N’s and Spencers running around, especially with the one I’d want nothing more than to spend my lifetime with” He pulled me into another kiss, peering deeply into my eyes before shutting his own to get some rest.
“I love you so much, Y/N Y/L/N” He whispered through his breath.
“I love you more than you know, Spencer Reid”
-
A/N:
That’s a wrap, you know I was going to end this short story with Spencer dying, but I thought about how evil that was. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it and don’t be afraid to put in any requests :)
chapter 1 - blood on her hands :: gisela klein [ an aot oc story ]
note: hey guys i know its been a rlly long time since ive posted anything and u may be rlly let down and underwhelmed that ive chosen to write a aot oc instead of fanfic but its what i want to write and i rlly love my oc and wanna give her some love and some praise and let u a little in how i see her. im sorry i havent posted a lot im going to try to write more and who knows i may or may not finish this but its ok imma try lol but life sometimes is a butthole. i hope you love her as much as i do an tysm for taking time out of ur day to read this story. enjoy!
Even though she knew that this day would have to come and that it was near, it still was a surprise for her. She was taken aback. It didn’t make sense and add up to her; she was trained for this since she was little; preparing mentally and physically for phase one of the plan; and the day appeared through the trees; past the wall; the opportunity was present; the fate of the people were waiting in their hands; and yet she felt a sense of evilness within her heart. Was this right? But there was no time.
The day was written down in history. The stories were spread around like a disease. Heights, jaws, teeth, feet, stench, the screams. If they survived that nightmare they were seen as a tough soldier; as someone that was applauded because they probably had PTSD and had to see everyday as a reason within themselves or God that they were alive. That maybe just maybe they were saved for a reason; for a purpose. That is what Gisela Klein thought. Maybe there was something greater out there for her to do, to accomplish and that was why she saw another day; breathed another breath.
But one thing was for sure. Forgiveness would never come her way; she would never expect it. To be a warrior she had to endure the horror; the pain; feelings of worthlessness; and friendships lost.
This is the story of the 10th finding titan; the Slash Titan.
Tumblr media
The pounding of her heart rang through her ears. It had taken everything for her to keep going on this journey; to continue on the path to and through Hell. She felt a loss within her and the light in her eyes died out. The loss of her friend made it hard for her to function. To keep her head in the game and in the plan.
She sighed as she stared at her hands. Broken and bruised like her heart; scars and scratches scattered on her skin. Her bite mark deeply engraved into her flesh. She heaved a huge sigh. Ready to give death a handshake and make a deal with the devil. Panic was rising in her chest from her stomach, almost ready to throw up.
As she thought about her family back home she realized there was no other way; she had to do this. In order to be with her family, to save them she had to do the one thing she was trained to do.
Kill.
A lightning strike shot over the wall. The wall that kept the monsters away and at bay. Something was wrong; the air seemed to change. The lightning strike caused a boom, clap and the ground started to shake.
Bertholdt drew his leg back and with full force swung his leg forward, knocking a hole into the wall that was impenetrable. Many people flew back from the wind of the blow and some were crushed by the debris of the wall.
Many were going to die; but it’s what needed to be done.
The titans were called.
Finally the titans entered the devils homes and started to rip up their lives. “This is right, this is right.” Gisela had to keep reminding herself. “For my family.” And something snapped within her. The image of her mother, tortured, flashed in her mind. And suddenly everything was worth it. “No regrets.”
Gisela eyed Reiner, an agreement, a sign. She exhaled and in a quick motion placed her hand to her mouth and bit into it. In a spark she transformed into her titan form. Her eyes were much like a cats, sharp. She was made into the slash titan, she was chosen for this program. Her titans fingers were like sharp knives, able to cut any object or person. They hung a little past her knees.
Reiner then transformed and both stomped past the hole. Many citizens glanced up, horrified. Gisela and Reiner were titans never seen before.
She nodded to Reiner, bent down and started to pick up debris and pieces of houses to throw over the bigger wall. The chunks started to smash against people. Blood splattering everywhere. Gisela almost wanted to close her eyes from the immense amount of dead bodies piled on top of others, graves upon graves.
She was hauling boulders as high and fast as she could. Her titan held a high amount of power and strength. Being slim, muscular and as tall as the armored titan and female titan. Reiner took a step back and gained his speed to go onward to destroy the bigger wall.
“Fire!” Their soldiers cried out. Fear evident on their face. They shot their cannons, not even slowing down Reiner. Gisela continued flinging, wanting to create a path for Reiner. She was faster than before and many of her hits flattened the men in the front lines. Their screams and cries loud.
“Close the gate!” They tried, it was their last hope to save humanity. But it was not enough. Reiner broke the wall and killed those running and they went flying. They reached even higher than Gisela. It astounded her almost, they seemed like helpless birds flying high in the sky; but that thought was quickly wiped clean because the second they flew up in the air they came straight down with much force that many parts of their bodies broke.
Reiner did what he needed to do, he opened up a way for the titans to get in and they were swarming by the bunches.
In the distance, the survivors fled in boats across the river to get into the other walls. Gisela put herself in their shoes for a second. They had reason to be scared. Everything they have ever known was gone; their houses, loved ones, food, a place to feel the most comfortable you can feel despite situations; it was all gone. Gisela shook the thought out, not caring about these cruel humans feelings. They had none. No emotions. Gisela had to believe that thought; what she was told, she had to believe it with all her heart, or else what was real?
They waited till they were able to not be seen and Gisela turned human first and then so did Reiner. The four of them hopped on the boat. Talking amongst themselves. The wind howled through the vacant homes. Destruction everywhere. Gisela looked around her setting and saw a little girl had been crushed because a tree fell on her, her doll mere inches away from her grasp. She died with her eyes open; almost looking into Gisela’s soul through the eyes. Gisela’s body trembled and she threw up.
“Don’t.”
Gisela looked up to see Reiner wiping blood and debris off his clothes. He picked his sleeve and turned Gisela’s head to look away, he wiped her chin and mouth off the puke. He saw the trauma in her eyes and felt guilty. But it’s what needed to be done. He kept telling himself that the more he did this the more he would understand and get used to it. It was still all new to her and he had to be strong for her. He knelt in front of her small frame. “It’s not your fault. They needed to die. We are in this together. You don’t need them. Look at me.”
Gisela looked into his eyes, away from the sadness. His eyes carried the feeling of wanting to be wanted. That was always what Reiner wanted. But they also had fear in his eyes.
“Stop acting like you’re in control when I know how sick you feel. I know how afraid you are Reiner.”
He paused and took a look at his hands and others surrounding him. “You’re right. But I made a promise to Marcel.”
Tumblr media
They joined the other citizens arriving at the food reserves. The master of disguise was needed in this mission. People needed to see four hungry, depressed children that survived the fall of their homes, not mass murderers.
Annie was only able to fetch two loaves. “Alright, who's the most hungry?”
“You girls should eat, you’re more feeble.” Bertholdt sat on a crate, pointing to Gisela and Annie.
Annie tsked, moving a bang from her eyes, “who says girls are more feeble? I recall kicking your ass all those times in training.”
“You guys can eat it, Im not hungry.” Gisela sat on the other crate and saw the chaos of the crowds. A boy caught her interest. He had dark brown hair, tan skin, and light blue green eyes. He was having bread shoved in his mouth and he seemed to have such a strong personality to him. If only Gisela felt so strongly about her motive and her placement in this life.
“You really should eat, you need your energy after all you did.” Annie broke all the loaves in half and shared it amongst the four of you. “It’s not much but at least it's something.”
Gisela sighed, “you’re right. Thanks.”
Tumblr media
After that day there was land given to only a few refugees but there were too many of them. Luckily the four of them had a piece of land that was enough until further inching themselves within society. Through that whole span each day was getting easier and easier living with the lies and day by day Gisela felt more at sure with herself and knowing that she could fulfill this mission. Pills and alcohol helped the pain and ease the thoughts. She taught herself to put a gap between what she came here to do and feelings. She told herself every day that nobody else mattered except her family and Reiner. She trained her brain to not care, to not have strings attached or any love for anything. It was all a play, all a rehearsal for when the curtain would fall. She was readying herself for that fall. Everyday she educated herself more on these scums. What they liked, wanted, needed, craved for, and what they craved more than ever in their life was freedom.
She trained her body as if it were her last day, barely getting sleep. The face of her mother haunting her every night making her get up at three in the morning to do pushups or sit ups. Not only was her mind getting stronger but also her body. Even Reiner would make jokes noticing the muscles that would appear. The six pack that formed on her stomach. Her thighs growing tight and firm, her arms growing stronger. The sweat growing on her forehead longer.
With her body growing her relationship with Reiner also changed. They no longer were the tiny children that didn’t understand anatomy or the air between two people. Reiner and Gisela’s relationship was of being flirty, sharing a few kisses here and there, trying to be a couple but then yelling at each other and breaking it up and realizing maybe this isn’t right a million times. Even Bertholdt and Annie were getting tired of their outbursts. But each time they made up to be friends only and then the cycle started where the feelings came in the way and they wanted to be more. They would tease each other, especially Reiner. They were each other's best friends. Gisela was like one of the boys, loud, obnoxious, burping all the time, Reiner would get a look at her and smirk thinking he taught her well. When Reiner looked at her he felt at home and that everything was going to be okay. Her nightmares continued and each time Reiner would come to her room and hold her, let her cry into his arms. She felt he was the only person that knew her pain.
Gisela understood many things in life and for once she understood her life here, she understood why she was born and chosen.
Tumblr media
It was the following year and in order to get closer to finding the founding titan the four became part of the 104th cadet corps.
“Are you ready to train more?” Gisela nudged Reiner, eyebrow raised.
“What do you mean train more? This is going to be a new but scary experience honestly.” Reiner spoke as if he was a different person. As if he didn’t have a life outside of the walls.
“Reiner?” Gisela placed her hand on his shoulder, steadying him. He looked fine on the outside but Gisela knew the issues were inside, his mind. She knew this was becoming disastrous to him, he was starting to have almost two personalities, two lives, two worlds, two people. Gisela tried to tell Annie or Bertholdt, they saw it too but there was nothing they could do.
All that Gisela could do was smile as they made their way to the first day of training.
Spontaneity
There are certain moments in your life where things go according to plan, and others when they dont...but those are the best kinds. The moments that happen because it feels right and everything just falls into place. After all, everything happens for a reason.
It had been three weeks since Tom and Y/N had their heart to heart, promising to find Unknown together along with Harrison and Harry. While there were no threats taking place, one could never be too careful. The more they waited, the more vulnerable they became, letting down their guard ever so slightly.
Everyone kept a close eye on Natalie, but she convinced them enough to think she was on their side and the PR had nothing to do with Unknown. Show the boys one made up threat message from Unknown and you gained most of their trust. Tom had asked Natalie to stop the PR for the sake of mending his broken relationship with Y/N. She told him that her and her publicist agreed to put it on hold...but kept no promise of stopping it forever.
Natalie’s mother was getting furious, not happy with how her daughter handled the situation. “I told you to keep Y/N away, you insolent girl. You are ruining everything and your chance with Tom.”, she spat through the phone.
Natalie listened to her mother’s rant, rolling her eyes. “Relax mother.” She says sourily. “This is just the beginning. Y/N wont know what hit her and after this...She’s going to wish she never came back to London.” She hangs up the phone smirking as she goes through fan accounts that continued to spark the PR flame.
Meanwhile as the three weeks passed Tom & Y/N had slowly rebuilt their relationship. Occasional glances and banters left their tongue, subtle compliments were thrown out, and it almost seemed as if things would be back just the way they were. Even more so, one day in the kitchen. Y/N was making dinner the for the group as she took the time to cut the asparagus and broccoli. Tom passed by her, as he saw her lose herself in the soft music playing in the background, singing to herself all while still being focused on the food.
He leaned against the doorway and continued to observe her, admiring how cute she looked with her hair up and how sweet her voice sounded with the music. It almost made him think why she didn’t pursue a career in music instead of business. “Wow.” Tom muttered under his breath.
His voice must have been too loud, since Y/N looked up startled, but all the more happy to see the man she once loved..and still does deep down. “Oh..I didn’t see you there.” She giggles. “Don’t worry I’ll stop singing in the kitchen. I know how you guys are when I get into it.”
Tom quickly shook his head as he came closer to her, smiling back. “No. You don’t have to. I think your voice sounds lovely. I mean the kitchen’s got great acoustics.” He laughs nervously. Tom can’t remember the last time he felt so nervous with her, but in the good type of nervous. The type of feeling, one gets when they’re in front of their crush and all the butterlies in their stomach start fluttering. “You just sound and look so beautiful.” He admits, sheepishly.
“Thomas Stanley Holland are you trying to flirt with me?” She asks amused at his attempt pointing the knife at him from a safe distance.
“Am not.” He dramatically answers. “I can’t compliment a friend, who happens to be really beautiful.” Y/N shies away hiding her face, by looking down at the cutting board. “I mean it. I really do think you’re beautiful, even if you dont think like that.”
“Well..I’m definitely no model or Natalie, since the people say you both are London’s to die for couple.” She says bitterly.
Tom rolls his eyes as he takes her hand. “Hey..I told you we stopped it for now and Natalie agreed. You know, I get that we all have our suspicions of her after everything, but she said and proved she was a victim herself. Plus Unknown’s been quiet for the past three weeks.” Y/N scoffs at his defense for Natalie as she heads to the stove with Tom following right behind her. He taps on her should as she reluctantly turns to look at him. “I am only ever going to have feelings for you.” Tom confesses. In this moment their faces are inches apart, eyes are slowing moving down to their lips and back up to their eyes, breaths slowing, and just when it seemed like everything would fall into place, both quickly turn away clearing their throats
Y/N calms her heartbeat as she stirs the pasta while Tom helps stir the sauce. The room was quiet only the sound of bubbling from the pots filling the room. It only took five seconds before they both turned back to each other quickly connecting their lips. The fever and the passion increasing rapidly with every touch and pull. The warmth coming from their breaths and the tingling feeling everytime their lips touched. It was like coming back from an addicition you had quit for so long but craved every single time. They couldn’t stop no matter how wrong this was right now, but it felt so right so spontaneous, so in the moment.
Tom quickly signaled her to jump and did as she told, wrapping her legs around his toned torso, cupping her hands under his jaw. He pushed her back against the kitchen wall, as he slow let on of his hands linger under her shirt. It may have been months apart, but both knew exactly what the other needed and how to handle it. Almost as if it were instinctive. They were in complete bliss, forgetting the world around them. Until, the pasta water started overflowing on the stove.
Y/N opened her eyes and quickly pushed Tom away. “Shit. The food.” She yells out, jumping from Tom’s embrace. Both of them tried to calm their heart rate and Tom stood their watching Y/N, smiling at what had just happened. For once he had his girl back, and everything felt normal. Y/N looks at him, giggling. “What?” She asks.
“Nothing.” He replies, grinning like a little boy. “I’ve waited to do that for so long.”
Y/N blushes at his statement, as she sets up the table with the food. “Come on. It’s time to eat.”
Life seemed surreal after her encounter with Tom. Y/N told herself that it was a one time thing until they found Unknown. She didnt want to put anyone at risk especially both her’s and Tom’s heart. But everytime she told herself, the more she got lost in Tom. Every stolen moment, stolen kisses, stolen touch...he always had a way of making her forget. So while she vowed to herself that it would stop, her heart simply couldn’t. Tom was right, there was no PR, no text messages, no insane fan account rumor. Natalie hadn’t even bothered either of them, always focused on her own thing, and truthfully seemed a lot nicer when she came forth about being a victim of Unknown. The questions came to Y/N’s mind. Why should she have to live in fear? Why not just live in the moment?
It was a slow night. Harrison had spent the weekend at his mother’s while Harry did the same. Tom and Y/N were the only ones that roamed aroundthe house. While Natalie spent her time contemplating everything. Her initial plan to crush Y/N when she least expected was approaching ever so quickly after all the time it took to set up. Within that time, she had gotten to know Y/N and Tom even more so a part from the hatred and the jealousy. For a second...just a second, she considered not to follow through. But her mother’s words and the thought of losing her chances with Tom overtook her the moment she saw the two fall in love all over again. Her suspicions only became worse when she recirved a text from her mother.
Unknown
Just remember, your acting career and your dreams depend on Tom. If you want Tom to choose you, you better get rid of the girl stealing your chances.
Filled with worry, Natalie quickly grabbed her things and made her way out the door.
Meanwhile, Tom and Y/N continued to spend time in each others arms everywhere they went in the house. They settled on the couch, Tom’s stong hands wrapping around her torso as Y/N curled herself into Tom. “I wish we could stay like this forever.” She whispers to him.
Tom hums at the idea, smiling wide. “Me too.” He brings her soft lips to his, letting them linger for a couple seconds more. “Do you really enjoy staying in the guest room?” Tom asks.
Y/N looks up at him, with curious eyes. “I mean yeah it’s okay. Why?”
Tom takes a deep breath before asking, “Well...I was uh wondering, if you didn’t like it as much there, you could..maybe stay with me...again.” He suggested muttering the last word. Tom smiled nervously, as he observes Y/N’s emotions. She was calm like the sea before a storm.
Y/N smiles at his offer, but shakes her head. “Mmm..it’s okay. Im fine where I am, but thank you for the generous offer.” She responds, placing a small kiss on his cheek.
“Yeah...I guess I should have seen that coming.” Tom admits, his face showing signs of disappointment.
Y/N pouts her lips, and lifts her small hand to move a piece of his hair. “Hey..believe me. I want to but nows the not the time..at least not yet. One day, I promise.” She whispers leaving a chaste kiss on his lips. “C’mon we got another day tomorrow. I’m gonna head into my room for a bit.”
“I’ll come up later just wanna make a call to Harrison.” Tom replies. Y/N looks at him and smiles as she nods and heads back up to her room.
As the night came to an end, Y/N took the time to unwind with a book in hand when her phone went off. Her face dropped when she saw the messages.
Pictures of Natalie out and about wearing Tom’s clothes and jewlery, smiling into the sun and enjoying her day out with friends. Gossips left and right from fans and media, talking about how adorable it was that Natalie was the type of girlfriend to steal her boyfriends clothes because it looks cuter on her. Y/N knew deep down it wasn’t true but the words and pictures taunted her. Slowly and surely, she started to get mad, furious that Natalie would start the flame again out of nowhere when she promised Tom they would stopped. Another message popped up for Y/N, and it was from someone she so willingly prayed it wouldnt be who she thought.
Unknown
Doesn’t she look cute in his clothes. Probably better than you ever could. BTW..where is lover boy? 😉
Y/N throws her phone against the wall, pissed more than ever. She should have known this was going to happen. Y/N contemplated the message, she wondered what the text meant. After all Unknown seeemed to know more about everyone here better than they knew themselves. Y/N slowly went downstairs only to hear whispering coming from the kitchen. She couldn’t make out the exact words but she could identify the voice. It was Tom and Natalie? She took a peak at the kitchen where the two stood facing each other. Y/N couldn’t make out Tom’s face but she could see Natalie’s very clearly. “Kiss me.” Natalie whispers, as she quickly places her lips on Tom’s cradling his neck, but Tom didn’t stop. The moment his eyes opened up to see Y/N’s he pushed Natalie off with all his might.
Y/N standing there in shock and sadness. Her eyes tearing up, her breaths shortening. She shakes her head, as she replays the disturbing image in her mind. “Y/N... it’s not what it looks like.” Tom quickly defends, trying to reach for Y/N as she steps back. Natalie observing the two, a slight smirk forming across her face. “I swear it was for the PR and movie.” He yells out, trying to chase her.
Y/N whips back as she faces Tom, the angriest she has ever been with him. “Who are you putting a show for in this house? Me? Because I sure as hell didn’t fucking like it one bit. I should have known better.” She spits out, heading up the stairs with Tom following.
“Y/N..please. It didn’t mean anything. I swear. I was put in a compromising position. Please listen to me.” Tom pleads. The door to her room is shut locked, but he stays there waiting and knocking at the door. “Y/N. Don’t do this. Dont walk away. Please just let me explain. You know what we have is special and the moment at the kitchen and everything this past month...”
“Was ruined and a complete and utter mistake. Leave me alone and I swear Tom you even try to get near me I will make sure you never see the light of day. I should have fucking stayed back.” Y/N yells out, sobbing against the door. It was a nightmare, and this time she couldn’t get out. She sat there now realizing, her heart had broken completely for the second time.
Tremor IV
Fandom: Thunderbirds Rating: Teen (may wibble upwards into AO3′s Mature later) Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Angst Characters: John Tracy, EOS, Lady Penelope, Gordon Tracy
Part 4 of my contribution to Hear from @gumnut-logic‘s SensorySunday challenge. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Last chapter got more of a reception than I expected.  Maybe I should torture Scott more often.  What do you think?
How hard was it to find a single, oversized, ugly ship?  John glared at the string of data he’d obtained from the GDF – less than legally, and without their knowledge, but desperate times called for desperate measures – and resisted the urge to pull his hair out.
Three days.  That was how long he’d been tearing apart every scrap of data he could get his hands on, determined to find the Hood’s ghastly ship – and more importantly, his big brother.  That was also how long it had been since he’d last slept, a fact EOS was bringing up more and more.  She’d threatened to tell Virgil and Grandma that he wasn’t looking after himself; he’d threatened to delete her and lock Thunderbird Five down so no-one could get in.
It was harsh, cruel, even, and the AI had promptly retreated, refusing to talk to him until he apologised.  John was the one in the wrong and he knew it, but he couldn’t bring himself to apologise, not yet.  If he did, she’d take that as permission to invite Virgil up and force him to take a break.
He didn’t dare take a break. The last time he’d stopped monitoring communications, Scott had been kidnapped.  Part of him blamed EOS for that, too.  How had neither of them noticed anything at all?  It had been quick, but not that quick.
In the corner, a display repeated the feed from Thunderbird One over and over again, on an eternal loop. The woman clung to Scott, the man approached from behind, and a too-brief tussle had his big brother unconscious in seconds.  They vanished behind the rock, and all was still for several minutes before the huge, ugly offense to engineering rose into the air and flew out of shot.
And then it was gone.
How did that monster of a thing hide itself so completely?  The GDF were useless; he’d informed Colonel Casey of the abduction, but while the woman herself was utterly horrified and determined to do anything within her power to assist them, she was finding herself blocked at every turn by someone else.  What little data she’d managed to provide had been stripped of anything remotely useful, and John had given up on that avenue of approach.
It felt uncomfortably like Dad all over again.  No body, searches turning up useless, the same man responsible.  The only comfort he had was that this time there was no evidence to suggest Scott was dead.
What the Hood wanted with him was another matter entirely, and John scowled furiously at his useless, useless data.  It was all very well and good having the most powerful computers in the world, the state of the art Thunderbird Five advanced well beyond any other space station or communication hub made by man, but why, when it came to family, was it never enough?
First Dad, then Scott. Who next?  Keep going down the line – him – or skip the isolation of space and target Virgil?  Gordon? Alan?
International Rescue was grounded.  That, at least, Colonel Casey had managed to do something about.  All emergency calls were being diverted to Global One.  Until they found Scott, there was a family-wide agreement.  Family first.
“Hello, John.”
He startled, unprepared for the call.  If he’d been in gravity, he’d have tripped and fallen over his own feet for sure. As it was he merely jumped out of his skin before reluctantly rolling to face his friend.
“Anything?” he asked, too tired, too wound up to do anything except jump straight to the heart of the matter.
Lady Penelope looked concerned, but shook her head.
“I’m afraid not,” she apologised.  “None of my contacts have seen or heard anything, and Parker’s underground connections are turning up similarly empty.  It’s as though they’ve vanished into thin air.”  Blue eyes focused on him and narrowed.  “John, when did you last sleep?”
He laughed, a sickly, hollow shadow of bitter mirth.
“I’ll sleep when Scott’s home safe and sound,” he told her.  “Let me know if you hear anything.”
“John-”  He swiped her away, ending the call.  If it wasn’t information on Scott or the Hood, he didn’t need it.  Not right now.
Besides, three days was nothing.  It had been seven before Scott damn near rammed in his airlock after the Zero-X to shove food down his throat and tie him to his bed with promises to monitor everything until he’d rested.
Scott wouldn’t do that this time, as much as John would love to see his big brother forcing his way through the airlock safe and sound.  He’d give him one great big hug and never, ever, let him go.  But life didn’t work like that.  Scott wouldn’t miraculously be here, in space.  No, he was somewhere on that green and blue marble below him, and John would find him.
Like you found Dad? a little voice in the back of his head mocked.  He ignored it.
Thunderbird Two was at the mine again, Virgil determined to search the place inch by inch in case he’d been left there after all.
“We never saw them board the ship,” he’d argued, and John hadn’t stopped him, knowing that Virgil needed to be doing something, anything, that could be helpful.  He’d been the one to leave Scott alone without backup, and no-one was more aware of that fact than Virgil himself.
“New rule,” Gordon had said. “No-one gets left behind.”  He’d all but thrown Alan on the green Thunderbird to keep Virgil company, their youngest brother unnervingly quiet.  The aquanaut himself had thrown himself into a world of contacts John had never realised he had.  It turned out that it took more than a hydrofoil crash to cut ties with WASP, ties Gordon was now yanking on with everything he had with the same fervour Kayo was hunting down Kyrano and his old contacts, and even Grandma had some surprises up her sleeve.
So far, none of them had turned anything up at all.  Not a single hair had been found, and as each day passed, the pressure mounted higher and higher.  The Hood hadn’t even got in contact to gloat, and that worried John.  No contact, no ransom, no demands at all.
What was the criminal after?
He turned his attention to the useless string of GDF data again.  Maybe if he ran it through a different system, used a different angle… maybe something would come up.  Something, anything.
The fact that in the past eight years they’d never managed to find anything on the ship preyed on his mind.  If eight years had turned up nothing, why would three days make any difference? Nothing had changed.  Scott hadn’t managed to keep a single tracker with him, they had nothing new to go on.
 They didn’t even know if Scott was still alive.  Forty two percent of kidnappings resulted in the victim’s death.  It was a statistic he wished he didn’t know.
“John.”
A security camera faced him, lights white.  They’d been red last time he’d seen them, EOS furious at his threats.
“Not right now, EOS,” he snapped.  He didn’t have time for apologies, no time for rest, explanations or anything that wasn’t finding Scott.
“I believe I have a probable location for the Hood’s ship,” she told him, undeterred.
It took a moment for the words to sink in.
“You what?  Where?”
The string of data in front of him disappeared to be replaced with a satellite feed of an ice sheet.
“I ran through all the satellite imagery recorded across the globe since the incident,” she informed him. “Using those, I tracked the ship to the southern tip of Africa, where it submerged.  Enhancement of the images showed a large mass of the correct dimensions travelling through the water until it reached the southern extent of the Arctic Circle and travelled beneath the ice shelf.  No satellite has since picked up anything that could be the Hood’s ship.”
John gaped at her.
“It’s also a submarine?” he realised, voice strangled in his throat.  No wonder they’d never found it.  “The Hood’s been hiding underwater?”
“That would appear to be the case,” EOS informed him.  “Would you like me to ask Gordon to investigate?”
John didn’t answer, pulling up the aquanaut’s comm himself.
“John?”  Gordon didn’t look like he’d had any more sleep than John himself.
“Gordon, the bastard’s underwater,” John bit out, language be damned.  Gordon had heard worse.  “Arctic Circle, sending last known co-ordinates now.  How many contacts can you get scoping out the area?”
“Enough,” his longer brother said, amber eyes sharp.  “How did you find it?”
“I didn’t,” John admitted, glancing up at the camera.  “EOS did.” Gordon nodded, accepting it instantly.
“Tell the others we’ve got a lead,” he said, something in his voice John had rarely heard from him – an expectation that he would be obeyed.  Gordon had been one of the youngest WASP officers in history.  “I’ve got calls to make.”
It was Gordon that swiped him away, ending the call, and John stared at the icon for a moment, letting himself breathe.  They’d done it.  Eight years, and they’d managed to track the Hood.
Something had changed.  They had EOS now.  Hacking every single satellite that orbited Earth and delving through all of their memory banks was a feat not even John could manage by himself, but EOS had done it, and in only three days.
He had to make calls of his own, reassure the rest of his family, get Kayo on the right track, but first there was something else.
“EOS?”
“Yes, John?”
“I’m sorry.  Thank you.”
Lights flashed green.
“I forgive you.  And you are welcome.”
“’Was I not enough for you…?’
Seolhyun parted her lips but hesitated to say anything. She also dropped her head, possibly trying to get everything in her mind organized.
‘Yoongi, I’m so sorry.’ She said sadly.”
“Come on, Yoongi. Just text her.” You stood in front of your mirror and adjusted your hoodie.
From the moment you woke up, had a cup of coffee, took a shower, and changed into an outfit, Yoongi spent the entire time debating if he really wanted to text Seolhyun. You agreed to go with him to see her because it was his stipulation, but he was the one hesitating.
“You know what, maybe I don’t need closure. It’s all good.” Yoongi placed his phone on your nightstand and laid back down.
“Ugh. Yoongs.” You grumbled and strode over to sit beside him. “Sure you may not need closure, but I know deep down you want to talk about your feelings. You don’t deserve to be cheated on—nobody does. Please text her.”
Yoongi glared at you for a few seconds before he softened his eyes. He mumbled something along the lines of I hate it when you’re right and reached for his phone but took a detour to grab your hand first.
“So, you promise you’re going to come with me? You’re not going to flake out?” He kept his eyes on your fingers as you lazily grazed the back of his hand.
Could he get any more adorable?
“I promise.” You replied earnestly. “But I start work at three today, so keep that in mind.”
Yoongi squeezed your hand and locked eyes with you. Never in your life did you ever picture yourself to be in this position. He held your hands before, mainly to guide you around places when you were extremely drunk but nothing like this. Yoongi had a sweet look in his eye with a smile to match and you were so sure you were dreaming. Yoongi was perfect. Why would Seolhyun want to cheat on him in the first place?
“Okay. Now, go to class.” Yoongi lifted your hand and kissed it. Your cheeks flared a bit and you probably failed to hide the disappointment in him not kissing you on your lips instead.
“Fine. But go outside and take a walk,” you gave him your dorm key. “You need some sunlight.”
After listening to Yoongi’s bullshit excuse about how sunlight was never necessary for him in the first place, you left his side to slip on your sneakers.
Why can’t time just fast forward to later? I just want Yoongi and Seolhyun to meet already so it can all be over with and done. How am I supposed to even focus in class?!
“Wait.”
Yoongi’s voice broke your thoughts and you stood up from your floor. He scooped you by your waist to press your body against his before stealing a long kiss on your lips. You felt your entire body relax and you clutched onto his nape to support yourself.
“You may have more knowledge about people’s behaviors and shit, but I know you well enough that you were waiting for that, right?” Yoongi said with a smirk after breaking the kiss. Your face bloomed crimson and you playfully shoved him a few inches away from you.
“Bye, Yoongi.” You walked away from him with bliss coursing through you and just before you stepped out of your dorm, you caught the satisfied grin on Yoongi’s face.
I will die in this developmental psychology class, I swear.
Time in your psychology class always ticked on like you had nothing else planned for the day. You jotted down chicken scratch notes, promising yourself to fix them up when you had time later; thank goodness your professor put up the lecture slides at 7pm on the same day of class. You began to mindlessly doodle at the bottom of your paper.
So many things could go wrong later.
Three stick figures were drawn at the bottom; one with a crude drawing of a beanie, one with hair just below its “shoulders”, and one with long hair blacked out with your pen. You drew scribbles of symbols around the drawing of the figure with long hair indicating how pissed off Seolhyun would be if she saw you two together.
Ugh. I can hear her voice now.
“Why did you bring her?”
“Unless you were cheating on me first!”
You scribbled all over the drawing and turned over the page.
The same stick figures were drawn at the top this time and instead of symbols, you drew tears coming from the figure with long hair and hearts around the beanie figure; Seolhyun would be in tears, apologizing and begging Yoongi for forgiveness and he would play right into her and fall in love all over again.
This time, you fiercely scribbled over the drawing.
Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Like clockwork, you drew the stick figures. Hearts were drawn around the beanie and medium haired figures while the last one had a giant X covering its face; Seolhyun is completely cut out of the picture and forced to watch how lovey-dovey you and Yoongi were.
This drawing caused your face to heat up a little. There was no way Yoongi would show any affection towards you in front of her because he wasn’t the type to purposely make matters worse.
One last time the figures were drawn back onto your paper and this time, you drew speech bubbles with squiggly lines inside that ended with periods and a few exclamation points. The most likely scenario would be a calm conversation with a few outbursts between Yoongi and Seolhyun. The last thing anyone would want is making a huge scene in front of everyone—
Wait, I don’t even know where they’re meeting!
[10:32] You: hey, where are you two going to have this conversation anyway??????????
Yoongi’s reply came through like lightning.
[10:33] Yoongz: You know the benches outside of the library?
[10:33] Yoongz: There.
Great. We’re going to be in public…
His texts didn’t stop there.
[10:35] Yoongz: I told her to meet me at 11:15 so that you have time to be here before she comes.
[10:35] Yoongz: I’ll be wearing the light brown coat you gave me for my birthday and the blue beanie you hate so much
[10:36] Yoongz: You’ll be able to find me pretty easily.
That damn beanie.
The mental image of Yoongi in the blue beanie made you snicker, but you quickly cleared your throat realizing you were in class laughing to yourself like an idiot.
[10:40] You: okay. i’ll see you then
[10:40] You: fuk that beanie doe omfg.
↠↞
“So you’re seriously going to be there? With Yoongi and Seolhyun? Possibly arguing in front of you? Right in front of your salad?!”
Walking to the library, you gave Hani a quick call to update her with everything that had happened since you told her about Seolhyun cheating on Yoongi.
“Yes, right in front of my salad.” You laughed. “To be honest, I’m kind of scared. Like why did Yoongi have to say he kissed me! Actually… I don’t know what would be worse, her knowing the truth or his lie.”
“Either way she’s going to raise hell, but if you need me, you call and I’ll come running!”
You smiled softly. Hani was serious in the most endearing way possible.
“I know—” Yoongi’s blue beanie stood out at a table underneath one of the large trees. “Yoongi’s there. I’ll call you later Hani or better yet, I work at three so you can come to the coffee shop anytime after that and I’ll update you on what happens.”
“Okay. Be safe. I love you!”
“I love you, too.”
You took a deep breath and approached Yoongi who had two cups of coffee and two sandwiches sitting in front of him. As much as you hated that damn beanie, he still looked as handsome as ever.
“Hi, Yoongs.” You smiled.
Yoongi instantly smiled at the sight of you. “Hey—no, sit by me.” He reached for your hand to stop you from sitting across from him and tugged you over to sit beside him instead.
The action startled you and almost made you lose your footing, but Yoongi supported you by the waist to let you sit down without injury.
“Th-Thanks.” You stuttered.
“Oh, here you go by the way.” He handed you a paper gift bag that he probably stole from your closet. “You left your work shirt and shoes. There’s also a water bottle in here because you need actual hydration and not just coffee swimming throughout your bloodstream.”
Everything he mentioned was sitting neatly inside the bag and your smile was impossible to hide. You’ve been nervous and jittery about meeting with Seolhyun that you completely forgot about your work clothes. Yoongi was a life saver.
“Thank you, Yoongi.” You breathed.
“Of course. Now eat, you didn’t even have breakfast this morning.”
As you had brunch, you spent the time complaining to Yoongi about how developmental psychology makes you want to jab multiple pens in your eyes. He argued that you say that about every class you have and even flicked your forehead.
“You’re doing great though, so keep on keepin’ on.” Yoongi rubbed the spot he flicked with the pad of his thumb.
You felt the weight of your school work elevate at the touch of his finger. Yoongi had the power to relieve any stress that you had in the palm of his hand and it amazed you. Maybe this was just the effect of you being whipped for him for almost a year. It sounded pathetic, but you enjoyed it nonetheless.
“A-hem.”
Both you and Yoongi tore your eyes away from each other to find Seolhyun standing at the opposite side of the table with her arms folded across her chest. Her eyebrows were furrowed and daggers shot from her eyes right into your own. The aura that came off of her was no less than intimidating and you felt as if your soul left your body.
Fuck.
“What is she doing here?!” Seolhyun barked as she took a seat.
“I asked her to come so just leave her be.” Yoongi spat.
You silently observed Seolhyun’s outfit; she wore a casual black dress that stopped above mid-thigh and had a deep v-neck line. A cream cardigan hugged her frame and she even made time to put on makeup and curl your hair. If your suspicions were correct, she dressed that way on purpose to use her looks to win back Yoongi somehow. Seolhyun was honestly gorgeous which made you nervous. What if it reeled him back in?
She cleared her throat again and avoided eye contact with Yoongi. “Thank you for meeting with me.” Her voice grew softer and softer towards the end of her sentence and she fiddled with the ends of her hair. This gave off a vulnerable look, almost “cute”.
“Okay.” Yoongi said sharply.
The tension in the air was suffocating and all you wanted to do was run away, but Yoongi kept his hand on your knee underneath the table to keep you at bay.
“So? Anything else you need to say?” Yoongi kept the same tone of voice, annoyed. He truly didn’t want to be here.
“Sigh. I’m sorry okay? God, can we just talk without you being mad at me?!” Seolhyun raised her voice a bit.
“Of course I’m mad! How the hell am I supposed to be feeling? You cheated on me!” Yoongi raised his voice as well and you were even more nervous. You three were sitting in public with students walking by and you were praying to God that everyone was just minding their own business.
“Y-You cheated on me too! You—!” She pointed at him. “—kissed her!” Her finger was now on you.
Yoongi furrowed his brows and squeezed your knee. “Alright, fine. I kissed her once and like I said, I knew I had to tell you because I was feeling so fucking guilty about what I did. You were my girlfriend, Seolhyun! I had to be honest with you.”
Seolhyun tightly pursed her lips together, probably stopping herself from saying anything else.
“How…” Yoongi breathed. “How long have you been…”
Your eyes softened at the sight of Yoongi faltering. He didn’t want to say it. You reached beneath the table to hold that had that was on top of your knee. Instantly, you watched his shoulders relax.
“Um…” Seolhyun chewed on her bottom lip and picked at the skin around her nails. “Just-Just once..”
Bullshit.
“Don’t you think Yoongi deserves a lot more honesty that?” You boldly questioned. Talking was never part of your agenda, but it’s true, he deserved to know the truth after tearing himself apart from agonizing over his self-worth.
“Excuse me?” Seolhyun stared you down and you couldn’t back down no matter how much you wanted to.
“I–I don’t think you’re telling him the truth.” You tried to sound confident, but your stutter gave it away.
Seolhyun scoffed and crossed her arms. “Who do you think you—”
“She’s right. I don’t think you’re telling me the truth either.” Yoongi interjected. “For Seung Ho to talk to y/n about our situation kind of shows how close you two really are.”
“My thoughts exactly.” You said softly.
Seolhyun aggressively scratched the back of her head. “Ugh. Two months!” She blurted out. “Two-fucking-months! There’s the truth! Happy now?”
Your eyes widened then turned to Yoongi who was looking in Seolhyun’s direction with an empty expression. After remaining quiet for about a minute, a low chuckle pushed past his lips.
“Is that why we’ve been fighting so much lately?” There were hints of both sadness and anger in his tone. “This was why you’ve been so short with me? You would cut our dates short—it was because you would rendezvous with Seung Ho?”
“Y-Yoongi.” You whispered and gently rubbed the back of his hand, trying to calm him down.
“Do you know what the fuck I’ve been going through because of this?! I continuously questioned what I was doing wrong—was I not making you happy anymore? Did I do something to piss you off? Was I not buying you enough flowers on the weekends? Altering my class schedule to match yours wasn’t enough? Skipping class to spend time with you? I talked my friends’ ears off trying to figure out why I didn’t seem important in your eyes anymore…” Yoongi kept his head down and squeezed your hand to the point where his nails could draw blood from your skin. “Was I not enough for you…?”
Seolhyun parted her lips but hesitated to say anything. She also dropped her head, possibly trying to get everything in her mind organized.
“Yoongi, I’m so sorry.” She said sadly.
For the first time in a while, she sounded genuine.
“You were enough for me, but I—I guess… I guess I was being selfish and I wanted more.” Seolhyun lifted her eyes in search of Yoongi’s but he still kept his head down.
“You could’ve told me.” Yoongi choked out. “You could’ve talked to me about how you were feeling and maybe—maybe things could’ve worked out.”
It was your turn to lower your head. This was truly an issue between Yoongi and Seolhyun. There was no reason for you to inject yourself into the conversation anymore.
“Is there any way we could work past this?” Seolhyun asked.
Yoongi finally met her eyes. “No. No way in hell.”
He fumbled with your hand to let go and reached into his pocket to pull out his keyring and wallet. He detached Seolhyun’s dorm key and pulled out a polaroid photo of her from inside his wallet. “Here. I don’t need these anymore.”
Yoongi reached back underneath the table in search of your hand and you stealthy met him halfway.
“Please. Just go, Seolhyun. We’re done here.” Yoongi said firmly.
Seolhyun sat there for a couple seconds and then reached forward to retrieve her belongings. As she stood up from the table, she kept her eyes on Yoongi hoping he would say something else, but he remained silent. Shortly after, Seolhyun took her leave without Yoongi sparing her a single glance.
Even with the hustle and bustle of students walking all over campus, the world had never been so quiet. Yoongi had his head down, face buried in the crook of his elbow while still holding onto your hand. You weren’t sure when was the best time to speak, so you kept quiet waiting for him to break the silence first.
It almost physically hurt staring at Yoongi. He had been bottling up so many painful emotions to the point where it almost consumed him. He didn’t deserve to go through this.
“Y/n?” Yoongi finally spoke, but the rest of his sentence was muffled behind his coat sleeve.
“I-I’m sorry, Yoongi. I can’t really hear you.”
“Thank you for coming with me.” He turned his head and made heavy eye contact with you. “Saying all those things… I don’t think I would've been able to do it on my own, but you being here gave me strength to do so.”
His words caused a noticeable blush to form on your cheeks. He chuckled and sat up straight to tuck a few of your hairs behind your ears.
“I think you have enough time left to get to your next class from here. I’ll walk you.” Yoongi lifted you up by your arm and you almost didn’t want to go to class. All you wanted was to sit around and hold his hand all day. The thought of that made you blush even more and this made Yoongi laugh a little harder. “What’s the matter with you? Come on.”
Unfortunately, Yoongi didn’t hold your hand when he walked you to class. This was probably because it felt too soon to do so in public. It’s not like he and Seolhyun were the campus couple, but people might get the wrong idea if they knew they were dating.
After the whole thing with Yoongi and Seolhyun, it made it even harder for you to concentrate. Now that they were broken up, who knows if Yoongi still had anymore underlying feelings for her. They were together for a year, so there had to be some leftover right? Plus, Yoongi made a comment the other night about how he thought about why you kissed him and that he “figured it out.” This meant a whole new conversation, a whole new reason to be nervous.
Fucking great.
This was a conversation you weren’t looking forward to. You needed to prepare yourself somehow, but it seemed like no matter how much you could mentally prepare yourself, you still wouldn’t be ready. After knowing Yoongi for roughly a little over two years and falling for him like an idiot, never in your life did you imagine him finding out about how you felt about him.
You would be lying to yourself if you said you weren’t even a little happy. You kissed Yoongi, held his hand, and even shared a bed with him with your feelings unknowingly exposed in the air. It made you giddy; butterflies roaming around in your stomach, fighting the urge to smile whenever you thought about him. If only the circumstances were different, life would’ve been near perfect for you.
Class dragged on, notes were written down, doodles were drawn, and next thing you knew, you were tying your work apron around your waist.
“Where’s Yoongi? He didn’t walk you here?” Seokjin asked.
“Nah. His energy gauge was pretty much empty by the time he was done talking with Seolhyun so he decided to just nap for a few hours.”
“Okay, so, what’s the tea?” Seokjin stood near you, eagerly waiting for you to tell him all the juicy details.
You playfully shoved him away and walked over to the espresso machine. “I’m not saying anything until Hani gets here.”
“Aw, come on, y/n. She won’t be here till like five or something!”
You chuckled to yourself and continued to ignore all of Seokjin’s pleads for information.
The moment Hani walked through the coffee shop doors, the first words she shouted was “okay bitch, bring forth the tea!”—this was said with a shop full of students. You were immediately put on the spot, but Hani’s intentions meant well.
You made sure to include all details of the confrontation when you told Seokjin and Hani about it. You also made sure to keep your voice low because you weren’t sure who knew Seolhyun, Yoongi, or even Seung Ho. This wasn’t your story to tell, but both Hani and Seokjin were there from the beginning so it seemed fitting for them to know it all too.
Evening came just as quickly as your shift started. Hani didn’t mean to stay so late, but she got pretty invested in the situation between Seolhyun and Yoongi. Both you and Seokjin did his best to keep all of Hani’s reactions at bay, but you had to admit, it was entertaining. At least she was nice enough to help the coffee shop employees close up.
“Wouldn’t your knight in shining armor show up by now?” Hani joked.
“You need to relax—oh, bye!” You chuckled and threatened her with a broomstick and waved two of your co-workers who were heading out.
“It’s true, y/n. He’s supposed to waltz in here and be like ‘my lady, I have arrived. Your chariot awaits.’” Seokjin pranced around the room and even bowed and took your hand in his.
“And by ‘chariot’, you mean his legs right? Because the dorms are within walking distance?” You laughed.
“Well, yes, b-but anyways let me finish,” Seokjin cleared his throat. “So your knight in shining armor swoops in—” he went from holding your hand to picking you up bridal style. “—picks you up and saves you from the dungeon aka the coffee shop! And then Yoongi says—”
“Seokjin, what in zakum’s name are you doing?”
At the mention of his name coming from behind him, Seokjin froze in his tracks and turned around to find Yoongi staring at him with a questionable look.
“I—uh—” Seokjin panicked, almost dropping you on the floor but he still managed to place you back on your feet. “Alrighty-roo, well, Hani—babe, shall we take our leave?”
All Hani could do was laugh until her stomach hurt and Seokjin dragged her out of the coffee shop by her hand; she laughed so much that she could barely properly say bye to you and Yoongi.
“Do I even want to know?” Yoongi asked hesitantly.
“No, you really don’t.”
Yoongi helped you flip up the chairs onto the table while you continued to sweep the floor. As you two cleaned up, you proceeded to tell him about your day and apologized for telling Seokjin and Hani what happened in the afternoon. He brushed it off because he also trusted them.
Unlike your busy day, Yoongi spent his entire day eating, sleeping, and watching netflix; he exaggerated that it was a packed schedule. He even mentioned that Seolhyun still tried to call and text him, but he ignored every single attempt.
“You know, I think she dressed up that way today to lure you back to her with her looks.” You confessed.
“Huh. You think so?” Yoongi walked behind the counter where you were wiping around the sink.
You shrugged your shoulders. “Yeah, I mean, it’s been pretty cold lately and she shows up in an outfit that could barely keep her warm. She curled her hair, put on makeup, like why is doing all of that necessary to meet up with you? It seems so—what?”
Yoongi was just staring at you with a smirk plastered on his face. “Were you worried that it was going to work?”
A blush bloomed on your cheeks. “N-No. I just think it was ridiculous, that’s all.”
He stepped closer and stood behind you, placing his hands on the metal countertop to cage you in between his arms.
“You know, you observe others pretty well but from my observations from knowing you, you kind of suck at lying.” Yoongi laughed and you forced a chuckle out. You weren’t going to even deny it.
From the counter, Yoongi lifted his hands to secure them around your waist, hugging you from behind. You made a few attempts to move around to clean the counter properly, but he remained.
“Yoongi, I have to clean.” You chuckled.
“Just—” He briefly let you go to spin you around so he could hug you from the front. “Five minutes. Let’s stay like this for five minutes, please.”
It was such a genuine request, how could you say no?
Yoongi was leaning into you with his face buried in the crook of your neck. You had your arms lazily slung around his shoulders and just listened to his faint breathing. The blonde tips of his hair tickled your nose a bit, so you gently slide your hand across his nape to brush down his hair. He hugged you tighter at your sudden action and sighed.
“You’re really going to touch me like that, y/n?” The teasing tone in his voice was enough to raise your temperature and cause a blush to appear on your cheeks.
“Y-Yoongi!” You tried to push him away, already feeling embarrassed, but he just continued to hold you.
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding.” Yoongi snickered. “It’s fine, keep touching my hair.”
You were still feeling embarrassed because that was the first time Yoongi used that tone of voice with you. Nonetheless, you listened and continued to stroke his hair. Thankfully he didn’t wear that awful beanie.
Yoongi didn’t say another word and every once in a while, he’d caress your back and readjust himself. Small sparks ignited at the simplest touch and for some reason you wanted to laugh. This was everything you wanted but it did confuse you as to how comfortable Yoongi was doing all of this to you. All you did was kiss him once and the next moment he’s acting as if you two were dating for years.
“Okay, I’m recharged. Continue your cleaning.” He emerged from your body and cupped your cheek. Even if you were the one embarrassed, Yoongi still had a hue of pink displayed at the tops of his cheeks.
For the next ten minutes, you swiftly cleaned up the stations and tossed out the garbage in the dumpster out back. Yoongi waited patiently and even gathered all of your things for you from the back room.
“So you’re opening tomorrow?” Yoongi asked whilst helping you adjust your hoodie.
“Sadly, yeah. So we can talk first then I’ll head straight to bed.”
“We can talk tomorrow, it’s fine. You need your rest.”
“B-But—”
Yoongi stole another kiss from you, probably to shut you up and it worked; it left you utterly speechless. You had to get used to this somehow.
“Tomorrow.” Yoongi whispered. “For now, let’s go home.”
Home?
There was no doubt that Yoongi was referring to your dorm as home since he stayed there the entire day. The idea of him considering your place as “home” gave you butterflies.
Home was a safe sanctuary. Home was a place where someone can easily unravel themselves to be at peace. Home was where the heart was and Yoongi was there with you.
“Yeah.” You blushed. “Let’s go home.”
PART 1
I was in a daze. My mind was foggy as I tried to remember what happened just a few hours ago. The skin under my eyes and cheeks felt tight from crying and the bruise that was probably forming. The room was a harsh light gray color. Much brighter than the sky outside. All I could do was stare at the other side of the wall while I waited for someone to come in and talk to me. Flashes of red and blue crossed my memory. Felix on the ground. Not moving. Two men in uniform pulling the man off of me and Felix. My body felt sore and sluggish. From the lack of sleep or the beating I didn’t know. And I didn’t mind.
The door opened, but I couldn’t find the will to look over. “Miss L/n?” I nodded still tired. A man in his mid thirties or forties sat in front of me. “You mind answering a few questions?” I shook my head as he gently passed me a cup of water that I very much needed. “Where is that man?” My jaw clenched as the words fell from my mouth. “Mr. Lee? He is in our custody right now.”
“Lee….Oh god….his father….” I don’t know why I didn’t realize. Everything made sense. The bruises. The cuts. Him not wanting to go home. Dinners at the store. The backpack. “What was your relationship to the boy?” What was I to Felix? I loved him I knew that. I was almost certain he loved me. “Ms. L/n?”
“Yes. Sorry. I was… I’m his…we’re…involved? Sorry I’m having trouble with my words right now.” “That’s to be expected.” I took another drink from the glass and tried to keep my composure. I was sure the man said his name earlier when I was brought in, but I couldn’t seem to remember it. “So, how long have you and Lee Felix been involved. I don’t know why these questions were so difficult for me to answer. “I’ve known him for about a month or two.” He nodded and I couldn’t help but look down at my hands.
“Was there any evidence of abuse.” Felix stood before me in the store. That tiny smile that didn’t reach his eyes highlighted the bruise under his eye and the cut on his lips. When he lay on my bed with black and blue marks painted across his ribs. The gash on his back. “Yes. There were-I knew in the back of my mind-but he didn’t want to talk about it.”
“How many times did you see Felix with an injury of any kind?”
“Three times.”
“And you had never met his father or been to his house?”
“No.”
I felt useless. Like I knew everything and nothing about Felix. I knew the things that I thought mattered, but I didn’t know the things this man said would help him. When the glass was empty and his questions finished the man sat in silence before me. “How old are you?” He asked. There was pure curiosity in his voice. “Seventeen…” “You are very strong to be in this situation and be acting the way you are.”
“To tell you the truth, sir. I’m terrified. I just watched someone I care about more than myself get beaten by his parent. I’m terrified. I don’t know how long its been since I’ve seen him, where he is or if he’s okay.” He nodded listening to me talk and handed me a tissue. I didn’t even realize I was crying. “He is at St. Mercy’s Hospital. I’ll give you a ride there.”
He gave me a comforting smile and helped me up from the chair. I avoided the staring eyes of the people in the police department as the man led me out of the precinct. Glancing at his badge, I saw his name was Inspector Chwe Yuseok. It was almost twilight when we walked outside. He opened the passenger side door for me and we both headed off to the hospital.
We rode in silence. I watched the clock on his dashboard, maybe hoping it would speed up if I stared. But it stayed 3:54 for a minute, and then the red digital numbers changed to 3:55. I watched until he parked in front of the hospital. The two of us must have been a sight to see. A hardened detective and a beaten teenage girl walking side by side into the hospital.
Inspector Chwe showed his badge at the front desk and was told what floor to go to. He motioned for me to follow into the elevator. I didn’t understand why he was going to all this trouble. A nice person would have simply called me a cab. Maybe paid the fair. He watched the floors go up much like I did the clock.
“Here we are.” The doors opened to the fifth floor. He led me to the desk and looked towards the nurse behind it. “Hello. We are looking for Lee Felix.” He showed her the badge and she typed in the computer. “He is in room E107. You can go in, but she can’t.” She sadly looked at me and then back to the detective.
“Why can’t I go in? I want to see him!” I didn’t mean to yell at her, but I was tired and wanted to see Felix. She stayed calm, most likely used to this response. “I’m sorry, Miss. Only family members can go in now. You’ll have to wait until regular visiting hours at nine o’clock. Besides the he just got out of surgery ten minutes ago.” I ran a hand through my hair. The irony was terrifying.
“Ma’am the boy’s father is in custody and he has no mother. As far as we know she is the closest thing to family he has.” She sighed and shook her head. “I’m sorry. I can’t let her in. She is free to wait over there and we will do everything we can to make her comfortable.” She motioned to a waiting area filled with chairs and a tv mounted to the wall. Only one other man about twenty years old sat there. “Thank you for your help.” She nodded with a sympathetic smile.
“I’ll let you know when you can go in and see him.” Dejectedly I shuffled over to the chairs and sat down pulling my knees into my chest. Surprisingly, the detective sat down next to me. “Why are you still here? Don’t you have a job to do?” He shrugged and crossed his legs. A silence passed for a moment while my thoughts festered and became clear. I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I thought about Felix alone in that room.
“You knew I wouldn’t be able to see him.” I looked to Inspector Chwe sadly. He nodded without looking at me.”I’ve been in your position before.” I waited for him to continue. “My best friend, when I was about your age, got into a car crash with a drunk driver. We were coming back from a party and I was following in the car behind him. Saw it all happen. The guy just drove off.” He messed with the watch on his wrist before looking at me. “At the hospital they wouldn’t let me see him. When visiting hours rolled around they let me speak to him. An hour later he died in surgery.” I hugged my knees tighter to my chest.
“Something about your friend reminds me of Yojoon. I don’t think it will end the same way though.” He gently placed a hand on my knee. He had a fatherly air about him. Something that made me comfortable around him. “Do my parents know what happened?” He nodded. “They were notified. I told them you were with me at the hospital.” I nodded and leaned my head against the wall.
“When was the last time you slept?” I tried to back to when I woke up yesterday. It seemed like eons ago. “My shift ended at two yesterday and I woke up at six.” He nodded. “Get some rest. We’ve easily got five hours to wait before you can see him.” With that, I fell asleep in the uncomfortable jail, hoping to have a dreamless sleep.
A hand shook me awake. My eyes looked down to see Inspector Chwe’s jacket covering me as I slept at an awkward angle in the chair. “She said we can go in.” Quickly I handed him his jacket and brushed my messy hair our of my face. I was sure I looked terrible, but I didn’t care. Sprinting down the hall, my tired eyes searched the room plates, looking for E107. I slid open the door to reveal an almost dark room. All the lights were turned off, but the light from the window cast a gray light into the area.
Out of breath I walked to the bed. Felix lay there with his eyes closed in a hospital gown and blanket pulled halfway up his chest. An IV was in his arm and he had a slow steady heartbeat sounding on the monitor. His dusty blonde hair was a mess, and even sleeping he looked stressed. It made tears fall onto my cheeks. There was a chair by the bed and I sat down in it. I was afraid to touch him. He had been hiding so much pain from me. His slim fingers were cool to the touch. My hands enveloped his as I stared at him with tears falling onto the sheets.
I brought his hand to my lips and pressed a kiss to each one of his bruised knuckles and closed my eyes. “Did you miss me, angel?” My eyes opened to reveal Felix with a small smile on his face. “I’m to relieved to say no.” I couldn’t help but smile down at him, unconsciously running my thumb over his hand. “Come here,” He pulled me closer to him and tenderly kissed my lips. His cool hand cupped my cheek keeping me close to him. I pulled away from him to kiss his cheeks and every inch of skin I could, before returning to his lips.
“Y/n,”
“What?”
Only a couple of inches separated us, but they felt like miles.
“How can I love you when I’ve only known you a couple of months.”
His voice was raspy and low. He had a small smile that reached his eyes. “You love me?” Felix nodded and stroked a tear from my cheek. “Stop crying angel, I’m okay.”
“You most certainly are not okay.” I turned to see Inspector Chwe and a nurse. “Don’t let this boy lie to you. No matter how cute he is!” The nurse said with a smile. “Are you the girlfriend?” “I don-” “Yes, she is. This is Y/n.” I pulled away from Felix and sat back in the chair, his fingers intertwined with mine.  Hearing the words from his lips caused a heat to quickly creep up my cheeks.
“Well, Felix, you might not remember me, but I was the nurse who took care of you before surgery.“ He nodded and looked to Inspector Chwe not recognizing the man. “I’m Inspector Chwe assigned to the case. I brought Y/n here this morning.” With a nod the nurse continued and explained to me Felix’s condition. He had several broken ribs and the surgery earlier this morning had fixed some severe internal bleeding. Along with all of that she said that he also had a concussion.
Felix squeezed my hand as I listened intently. “So, how much is this going to cost?” There was a strain in his voice as he spoke to her. “Well we will definitely want to keep you here for about a week.” He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. We both knew that he couldn’t afford to stay here for even a single night. “Can you give us a moment?” The inspector asked politely. She bowed and closed the door as she left. “I’m screwed.” I held his hand even tighter as he rested his head against the pillow. “We’ll figure something out, okay?” I could pick up more shifts at the store! But that wouldn’t even cover half the cost of the hospital bill, let alone what the court fees would be. “I’ll ask my parents-” “Angel, they’ve never even met me. Why would they do that?” “I can cover your bill.” We both turned in surprise to the Inspector. “Sir-” “It’s no trouble. Really!”
 My mind slipped back to the conversation we had back in the waiting room. There was a softness in Mr. Chwe’s eyes as he looked at Felix. I started to wonder how much Felix and Yojoon actually looked alike. “I won’t take no for an answer.” A smile grew across Felix’s face, one that reached all the way to his eyes. “Thank you, sir! I have no idea how to repay you.”
 Before the Inspector left he pulled me to the side. “Here.” He handed me a clean white business card with his email and phone number on it. “You need anything at all, either of you, don’t hesistate to call.” I bowed and took the card thanking him profusely. Something about Mr. Chwe made him feel like a guardian watching over Felix and me.
 The next week was a struggle. I had to go back to school three days later, but every free moment was spent by Felix’s side until the nurses forced me to go home. My parents stopped by a couple of times and were very kind to Felix. The day Felix was supposed to be released I arrived outside of the hospital to find him being carried out in a wheelchair. He smiled when he saw me. Carefully the nurses helped him up and carried his things to the cab I had waiting. After safely getting him in we both took off in the car down the street. “Where are we going, Felix?” Obviously we couldn’t go to his house. It was still under police jurisdiction and I imagined it was the last place he wanted to be. He thought for a second before telling the cabbie an address. His thin fingers held onto mine throughout the ride. His gaze was fixed out the window watching all the people walk down the streets of Seoul.
 It was early evening when we reached our destination. Getting out of the car, I looked up to see a two story building marked as a dance studio. Helping Felix out of the car, he slowly approached the door and unlocked it. “Come on, angel.” Shouldering his backpack I followed him inside the dark studio. He limped and shuffled to the backroom while I stayed and looked at the pictures on the wall. My eyes fell on a photo of two boys in mid choreo. On the right was a tall and slim boy with jet black hair and elf like features. Next to him was Felix with a bright smile on his face. He looked so happy. Calm. Like a normal boy. There were other pictures mostly containing the same bunch of boys with Felix scattered about.
 I jumped at the feeling of hands wrapping themselves around my waist. I relaxed into Felix’s touch as he rested his head in the crook of my neck. Instinctively my hand went to softly curl in his blonde hair. For a moment we just stood there, completely content with this little bit of normalcy. I started to understand why he appreciated the things I though plain and boring. Felix lived a painful life and normalcy was like a tiny piece hope for him. A glimpse of what he could only ever dream about. “I love you….” he whispered in his low voice.
 They always talk about the knot in your stomach and the feeling when someone says they love you. Like a good kind of tension. In reality, my whole body felt like liquid. Ready to shape itself to whatever he needed. Like a numbess throughout my entire body. Forty years later I wouldn’t remember the first time Felix told me he loved me, but I would remember this one. Every sound in the quiet studio. Each touch of his fingers on my stomach. Remembering that in all the pain he must have been feeling, his desire to keep me close overpowered all of it. Remembering how normal it felt to be in his arms and hearing those words, though unfamiliar.
In his arms, I could see the future. Images of him away from all of this with me by his side. The scars almost fully healed, and stood as a reminder of his tribulations. I could see what he wanted. That normal, simple life. It made me smile. My fingers rubbed his arms tightly wrapped around my stomach, feeling the marks and scars that still lay there. This wasn’t the end of his story. It wasn’t the end of mine either.
The both of us still had miles and eons left to travel. Six years later, Felix again rushed to the hospital. He burst through the doors leaving two of his friends trailing behind after him. “Where is she?” His knuckles turned white as he gripped the edge of the nurses’ stationn. “I’m sorry, sir. Who?”
“Y/n. Where is she?”
“Last name?”
“She came in six hours ago! Where is she?”
A toned arm gently pulled on Felix’s shoulder. “Hey, calm down. It’s okay.” Changbin always knew how to calm him down even in the hardest times. The other boy with them, Chan, spoke calmly and politely to the nurse. “We are looking for Lee Y/n.” She nodded and pointed to a room down the hall. It took all in Felix’s body not to sprint down the passageway. Chan opened the door for him to enter and he stopped and stared at the sight before him.
Seeing him I smiled and motioned him closer. “Yuseok came before you. I’m not surprised, though.” I pointed to the man in his late forties now who sat in corner of the room. He still had the same kind smile as the first time the two of us were in this hospital. “Of course I came. A god father must be present at a joyous occasion like this!” Felix smiled brightly, his eyes twinkling as he looked at the baby laying in my arms.
“How are you doing, angel?” His fingers stroked my hair but his eyes never left the child. “I’m fine. I was a little worried you wouldn’t be able to get away from the tour.” He chuckled and I could see tears at the edge of his eyes. Felix had cried many times in front of me. But, the tears of joy hat trickled down his cheeks were more beautiful than anything I had ever imagined. There was true love in his eyes as he looked down at the baby.
“Felix,” Softly I handed the new born to him. The look of shock on his face was evident as he cradled the child into his chest. “Meet our son, Yojoon.” In the corner a bitter sweet smile rested on the Inspector’s lips as he watched the two of us and our newborn son. Ever since that night Chwe Yuseok had stood by and aided us in every time of need. He grew to be like a father to Felix and me. Without him our son wouldn’t be here.
“It’s like....”
Felix struggled with his words as he looked down at his son. My fingers trailed softly over his arms, a loving habit I had picked up over the years. The scars were mostly healed and now only represented a part of his past that he had left behind.
“It’s like I’m holding the tiniest piece of heaven. Don’t you think, angel?”
I nodded and placed a kiss on his forehead.
“You couldn’t convince me otherwise.”
Thanks guys so much for reading! Don’t forget requests are open for mutliple groups!
Footnotes’ Chapters
Tumblr media
So in procrastinating getting this second-to-last chapter of Footnotes finished, I went back and did something I meant to do ages ago, and actually gave each chapter a title and pull quote summary. I know for me writing-wise, this instantly made going back and figuring out when/where something happened a whole lot easier, it’s a lot more reader-friendly, and it’s something I’ll be better about in the future - I mean, for god’s sake, Alternative Methods managed to have chapter titles from the get go.
Before you call out my first two chapter names as super lazy, it’s because they parallel each other, and really should have just been one chapter, but oh well. Here they all are, for anyone interested, including the Song of Solomon quotes I’m using for the last two chapters, since they don’t have titles yet:
1. The Jedi Alone
2. The Leader Alone
3. From A Certain Point of View
4. A Guardian of Hope
5. The Ghosts of Yavin IV
6. Forbidden Insights and Stolen Thoughts
7. The Wayward Prince
8. Inebriated Negotiations
9. Fumblings of the Repressed
10. Repercussions and Resolutions
11. The Prince in Disguise
12. A Dance With Death
13. Passions of the Jedi
14. The Leader’s Possession
15. A Mother’s Machinations
16. Lessons in Trust
17. A World Between You and Me
18. The Return of a Certain Jedi
19. Resistance is Peace, Chaos is Order
20. “I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.”
21. “All night long on my bed I looked for the one my heart loves; I looked for him but did not find him.”
22. Epilogue: Footnotes’ Footnotes (Come out, and look, you daughters of Zion. Look on King Solomon wearing a crown, the crown with which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, the day his heart rejoiced.)
Pull quotes under the cut:
1. The Jedi Alone
Rey felt warmth travel down her spine, and her stomach tied in knots. This… this was not what she was expecting to find at all. Beneath the hurried notes, Rey found - in a much more deliberate, calligraphed script - poetry.
2. The Leader Alone
In the end, that was all they were - just glimpses. Visions just brief enough for his chest to clench - in anger? That was certainly the easiest one. After all, she was the one who left him, when she, of all people... Was it anguish? Sorrow? Those seemed closer. Regret? Best to not examine those feelings too closely.
3. From A Certain Point of View
How did this turn around so quickly on him? How did she know exactly how to rip him apart every time? Rey was right, his ambition, his drive, his dreams - his visions of her - had distracted him yet again.
4. A Guardian of Hope
Rey took a shaky step back from the podium, and right into a large, warm body. 'I've got you,' came a whisper at her ear as a black, gloved hand slowly ran its thumb down Rey's arm, leaving her shivering in its wake.
5. The Ghosts of Yavin IV
Call it attending a fundraiser, call it giving a speech - Kylo knew what was happening here. They wanted her to be a rallying cry. They wanted to turn her into a weapon. They wanted her as an attack dog. They wanted her face as the one people associated with the power of the Resistance. They wanted to do to her exactly what Snoke had done to him.
6. Forbidden Insights and Stolen Thoughts
These were not the flowery, fanciful words of Ben Solo. This was not a boy extolling the beauty of the world around him, longing for the girl in his dreams. This... this was him becoming someone else altogether, Rey realized, her heart in her throat.
7. The Wayward Prince
For so long, it had been Kylo Ren who had protected him. Kylo Ren, who shielded the tattered remains of the boy who had been Ben Solo. But here, surrounded by opulence and aristocracy - the crusader, the warrior was useless. He needed to be the Prince.
8. Inebriated Negotiations
“You know I’m not going to agree to... whatever it is you have in mind. You’re clearly trying to set something up here for you to win.”
Ben allowed a small smile to cross his face as he twirled her shoe on his finger. “You’d think that. But for you, Rey, I’m willing to give you everything.”
9. Fumblings of the Repressed
Ben Solo currently had the literal girl of his dreams strewn across his lap, he had just confessed more to her about how he felt than he would have ever admitted sober, and instead of her recoiling in horror, she felt compelled to seize his shirt and bite his lip. He was quite convinced that he had never, in his entire life, had so many things go right.
10. Repercussions and Resolutions
As much as Rey found honesty in his declarations last night of only wanting to ‘figure things out’ between them, and claiming that he was only here to discuss terms of ownership with his journal, she knew that it was ludicrous to assume Poe and Finn would trust his intentions.
And now they were all planning on showing up here at the same time.
11. The Prince in Disguise
“That’s - that’s the rest of the Resistance! They can’t see you here!” “Why not? It’s my damn apartment!” “It’s - it’s too hard to explain right now, and it’s the General’s-” “Got my name on it.” “Kriff, Ben, this is not the time for a lesson in property ownership!” “I’ll give you a lesson in property ownership.”
12. A Dance With Death
“Clearly,” Ben hissed, glaring down at Poe as the shard moved closer to his skin “-we have different views of last night’s events. I saw a very real, and very capable threat. I saw a man who had obviously been manipulated with the Force. I saw Rey inches and milliseconds from dying. And I will not allow them a second chance.”
13. Passions of the Jedi
“Please, Rey. Let me know that I’m - I’m not alone in this. That it’s not just the Force, that it's not just our bond - that it’s us - that there’s actually something - something more here.”
14. The Leader’s Possession
"Ben would have died a happy man without Rey discovering that, in his weakest moments, all he could fantasize about was her absolute acceptance of him, and her sincerity in promising to never leave. Why couldn’t he just imagine simple, baseless sex like a normal person?"
15. A Mother’s Machinations
“From what I’ve read so far… I’m not sure... I... want to be a Jedi?”
An ashen look came over Leia’s face, suddenly making her look years older. Shakily, she took another long drink from her tea, the silence filling the air between the General and the would-be Jedi.
“That’s… That’s not the first time I’ve heard - you sound just like Ben.”
16. Lessons in Trust
Quickly, before she could get distracted again, Rey broke away from him - “Ben Solo, you do not get to just… Just kiss me and act like you didn’t- mmmf!”
He sealed his mouth to hers, his hot tongue softly imploring she just… oh. This was so much easier than being mad at him. Ben groaned, and Rey could feel it vibrate through his whole massive body as he crushed his chest to hers.
17. A World Between You and Me
“Stay here. They’ll come back for you.” the lie was like ash in his mouth, his voice dead as he delivered the damning words. The words that would trap her here for years of struggle and starvation. The words she would repeat to herself over and over until they lost their context and meaning, twisting them until they came from her parents, not some stranger in the desert. She would forget who said them, and convince herself that somewhere, she had parents who loved her.
18. The Return of a Certain Jedi
“Wait - Rey, I don’t understand - you called me-”
“Kylo? I know. His - your voice guided me.” She raked her fingers through his hair, holding his gaze as though imploring that he understand. “Ben Solo, Kylo Ren - it doesn’t matter. It was you. It was always you, wasn’t it?”
19. Resistance is Peace, Chaos is Order
"Ben, knowing the full scope and potential of their power here, insisted that they command the Force in bringing varying minds together, making them agree and come to a consensus. Rey was adamant that they take a more passive role, merely showing the path and letting people decide for themselves how, or even if, they wanted to find compassion in their enemy’s soul."
Traitors of Olympus IV: Fall of the Sun
Thirty-Five: Maari
Stairs: The Real Villain in This Series
 Warning: Exposure to twelve-year-old psychopath and his antic imminent. Some mature themes.
           Merry learned a useful tip when hunting down wary Pax boys: follow the candy wrappers.
           She wondered if all Pax boys were as tidy as little Hurricane Katrinas. From what little she remembered of their house, she guessed each Pax room had its own private cleaning crew, and that certainly wasn’t to the benefit of the boys.
           Merry didn’t find the candy wrappers immediately. There was too much foot traffic around St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
           The white, gothic structure seemed designed to make Merry, who already felt pretty small, feel microscopic. With the sharpness of the cathedral’s many pinnacles, jutting to the sky like a knife rack, and the ominous, narrow windows, like those in a jail cell, Merry understood why cathedrals were often used in horror movies. If this thing were put on its side, it could be an intimidating battering ram.
           When Merry walked in, she was dizzied by the number of tourists, the brilliant lighting, and the gold and marble walls. One woman—a tour guide or an usher, Merry didn’t know—gave Merry a violently reproachful look, pointing to Merry’s jacket then making a cutting motion.
           Merry wasn’t sure what she meant, until she registered the lyrics,
           “And if you want a doctor,
           I’ll examine every inch of you.
           If you want a driver,
           Climb inside.
           Or, if you want to take me for a ride—“
           Merry sheepishly turned off her jacket’s music, guessing the Cathedral didn’t like to party Michael Buble style. She gave the woman a careless grin.
          The times she’d spent the night at Kally’s house, Kally always offered to take Merry to service—or was it called Mass? The Kassands’ church met up in a local middle school’s cafeteria. Merry wondered how those humble parishioners would feel about this church’s hubris.
That was back when Merry was sad she could never tell Kally that Merry’s father was actually Dionysus. Merry frowned. Now, Kally was attending a party that someone else was throwing at Dionysus’ house, one Merry really hoped Kally would survive with little more than a sober hangover.
           My Teddy Bear and Kallybae will take care of each other, Merry assured herself. Kallybae can keep the Paxbaby in-line, and Calex can shoot Alabaster if anything bad happens.[1]
           Organ music replaced Merry’s jazz. People were filing into the massive doors and, she realized for a surreal moment that it was the weekend.
           Merry did everything she could to dodge around the uncomfortable holiness of the place, excusing herself and improvising several stories to dodge around Mass…. staff? Is that what they were called?
           One man, someone who crossed himself as he came into the Cathedral, gave her a compassionate smile and Merry realized that she probably looked like a homeless person with how dirty she was.
           Some confused wanderings, lots of blatant lies, and many Jesuses later, Merry found some back stairs that seemed off limits from the everyday chap.
           The real demigod killer: stairs.
           With a groan, Merry started up. No elevators in the house of God.[2]
           For the first half of the climb, Merry twitched to reactivate her jacket. Children of Dionysus: not designed for stealth missions. The glory of the church disappeared to dark walls. All she had for sound was the hallow echo of Mass happening a few floors below, and the reverberation of her footsteps.
           The second half started fun, (as much as climbing stairs could start fun) but made her choke up. There was graffiti all over the stairwells. Some of it was carved into the walls, some of it was painted. Much of it was dated to the 1920’s, with people claiming fame to graffiting a famous cathedral. One depicted two towers in white, one on fire, with the words, “2001” Bad Year. Never forget.
           Merry frowned and took a break at the next window. Below, she could see Atlas, holding the world up, at least a hundred or two hundred feet below.  He looked small.
           If viewed from the right angle, Merry theorized Atlas might look like he was challenging God with a capital G, saying he’d been here first, and no matter what the big man did, he’d preserver after. He might even heft his world at the Cathedral, just to see if he could topple it.
           Bells chimed, making the whole tower shudder.
           Merry covered her mouth so she wouldn’t scream. She knew the Cathedral’s bells went off at noon. She’d heard them in town before, but she’d never been so close.
           While the bells sang, someone seemed to pull a curtain over the window.
           At first, Merry thought there was a massive cloud, or maybe an airplane off course. But the darkness didn’t go away. Atlas had disappeared with the lack of street lamps on. Windows glowed ominously on the streets of New York. Some street lamps began to flicker.
           Merry’s stomach twisted.
           From what Percy said, Eris would come back “when the sun comes down.” Merry’s mind blazed through all the elements—of Hemera’s kidnapping, the reports of Nyx being upset, Eris wanting the Golden Net to capture a goddess.
           The attack must have started.
           As fast as she could, Merry ran up the stairs.
           By the time Merry found the trail of candy wrappers, dodged around some bell ringers, and made it to the landing where the candy wrappers lead (more stairs continued upward), she didn’t hop onto the landing with her shoulders confidently back, her hands on her hips, and a smile on her lips, like the Indian Wonder Woman she wanted to be.
           She almost collapsed on it.
           No amount of training could have prepared her for those stairs. She wished Dionysus had a bikini setting on her parka. Her sweat made her clothing cold and wet, and she knew—though on fire now—once her body temperature regulated, the world would be freezing.
           A child’s giggle made Merry choke back her gasps.
           She stumbled forward, unprepared to immediately confront Hiro and Percy’s little sister.
           The room was smaller and far more intimate than she’d been ready for. The jury-rigged baby roller coaster—a mash up of ropes strung across a buttress in the ceiling—dangled an empty crib out a shattered window.
           Merry frowned at the colorful glass still littering the floor. She wondered if Hiro had made one of his little talisman bubbles to contain the sound and if he was as skilled as his siblings with the Mist to conceal his hideout.
           There was a giant mirror against one wall. Well, Merry knew it wasn’t a mirror. It reflected an image of Camp Half-Blood, of Percy sitting on a throne with a light-up, neon sign above his head, grinding his nails into the chair’s armrests, moving his mouth in a noiseless scream at something happening beyond the mirror’s edge. His features looked ghastly in the queer mix of lighting.
           Merry forgot that they’d soundproofed Hiro’s mirror, so Hiro and Lapis couldn’t eavesdrop on their meeting. She almost wished they hadn’t, so she knew what was going on.
           Overall, she was happier they had.
           She needed to keep her mind on the task at hand.
           There was the twelve-year-old boy with Asiatic features, darted suspenders, a burgundy button down, long, flowing black hair, and a revolver wedged in either shoulder holster. He held both of the baby’s hands, keeping her upright as though the baby walked on her own. Hiro was slightly hunched as he inched their way across the room. The baby giggled with delight at the game.
           When he noticed Merry walk in, Hiro moved the baby’s hands in a wave. His smile twisted from one of wonder to one of devilish delight.
           “You know, you don’t need to live this life of crime and kidnapping,” Merry reminded him between gasps. “You drop the threats, and you could make a great Hiro the Babysitting Hero, LLC.”
           She wanted to have more time to plan and collect herself. This would have been better if she seemed calm.
           Between the darkness outside, the camp’s timer being cut in a quarter, and the likelihood of peril for her friends there, she felt a tiny bit stressed.
           When Merry managed to stand up taller, putting her hands on her hips, she towered over Hiro. He would have looked like a cute Pax baby if she didn’t know that he was a tiny, evil thing.
           Hiro whisked the baby up. He danced her over to the crib, gently set her down, and rolled the crib a foot inside the window.
           The movement caught Percy’s attention. His mouth moved. Merry tried not to notice how the son of Poseidon was begging her to act. To remotely focus on the problem at hand, she’d have to convince herself Mr. Water Muffin wasn’t able to see them.
           When Merry tried to take another slow step forward, Hiro withdrew one pistol, aimed it at the baby, and held up a hand in a “stop” motion.
           Merry froze. “Sorry there, honey buns. I didn’t mean to give you the heebie jeebies. See? I’m little ol’ me. I’m not a rough and tough meanie. I’m a pacifist that doesn’t even kill mosquitoes. I bear no weapons.”
           Hiro’s eyes seemed to flash. His grin turned crooked and—for an instant—he looked like a younger version of Pax. Well, maybe the anime version.
           Hiro holstered his gun again. He pointed to her, then shook his vest with the other hand. He mimed removing his vest.
           “Oh, my parka?” Merry asked, innocently. Her ragged breath almost clogged in her throat. Her jacket was her one defense. She’d never looked at it as a weapon, but—if Hiro had and Lapis had been watching their movements, or seen the video of how she’d made the Heroic Handsomes of Olympus dance—he knew better.
           Merry gingerly took off her jacket, hoping he couldn’t see how much she was trembling. She had to look calm. Remembering all the times her adoptive father had lost it, she had to keep him calm until she was ready. She wasn’t ready yet.
           Merry tossed her parka into the hallway. She still wore an inverted SPQR shirt and a pair of jeans.
           When she tried to take another step forward, Hiro held his hand up again.
           Merry paused. She forced another careless smile. “What now, sugar plum?”
           Hiro reached up with one hand to pick up the corner of his button down shirt and shake it.
           Merry stared at him. There was a major flaw in her plan: the whole not speaking ASL. Maybe Hiro wouldn’t mind if they paused to phone a friend for translation.
           When Hiro made the same motion again, his expression impatient, Merry felt her mouth move to form the “oh” shape.
           Although she towered over Hiro by at least a foot, Merry felt as small as when she’d entered the church.
           He made another motion, putting one hand flat in front of him, and miming grabbing from it and throwing it away. He grabbed the collar of his shirt again, shaking it.
           Merry swallowed. “Well, don’t you demand a lot?” she asked, hoping her voice didn’t shake and hoping she wasn’t about to look like a total moron due to misunderstanding him.
           Slowly, Merry pulled her SPQR shirt up. She paused to make sure she understood Hiro’s command.
           His lips twitched. He redid the “toss away” motion.
           Merry took her shirt off the rest of the way and tossed it into the hall beside her parka. She forced herself not to cross her hands in front of herself or to cover her Lane Bryant bra. She immediately regretted wishing for a bikini version of her parka. Drafty bell towers in New York winter: not a warm place for an un-dress rehearsal.
           Hiro burst into giggles. He covered his mouth with one hand and slapped his knee with the other. His dark hair spilled forward. The locks covered the darts lining his suspenders and the guns, so Merry could pretend this was a horrible prank from one of Nikhil’s friends, not demands from a budding psychopath. She’d caught Nikhil’s friends watching her change once and then assured some nasty rumor warfare the next day to teach basic human decency. Merry assumed Nikhil found out as well, since those friends had some busted lips and black eyes.
           She felt nauseous to remember Hiro was even younger than Nikhil’s friends.
           “See? No place to hide weapons, sugar plum,” she hummed, trying to keep her smile.
           Hiro wiped tears from his eyes. When he looked up at her, those dark spheres glistened with playful glee. He put his hand flat against his legs, then moved them up to grip his belt. Then he made the same “toss away” motion.
           Merry felt her chin jut to one side. This one was a little demon. “Alright. Full dis-clothes-sure. That’s it, though,” Merry said, her voice cracking against her will. “I’m not so clever as to hide weapons anywhere else.”
           She just hoped, in all the time that Hiro and Lapis had spent spying on their group, they never noticed she did, in fact, use her chest as a cell phone pocket, though it was currently in her back pocket.
           Merry tried to look calm as she unlaced her boots, set them to the side. Even the smiling Hello Kitties on her socks looked worried. She undid her jeans, shimmied out of them, and then tossed them with her parka and shirt.
           Her trembles became uncontrollable. From fear, humiliation, or the icy draft coming in the window, she wasn’t sure, but some nice internal heating or—again—a Leo Valdez or Calex to keep her warm—that’s what she would ask her Christian friends for Christmas this year. That and the whole world peace thing to actually happen.
           Yesterday, when they had to flip their SPQR shirts inside out to hide the logo from the monsters inhabiting club HMM, she was pleased to have on one of her flashy, jazzy bras. Calex had been carrying her and she knew it drove the poor Brit bonkers. Merry knew that she had made a son of Eros blush. That was one way she hoped she could convey the, I may not be ready for kissies and cuddles, but I do trust you more than the average homo sapien.
           Now, she wished she were wearing the set of underwear that she kept at her dad’s house, simple and conservative. Not that it ever made a difference, she thought. Her step father was never rainbows and kittens for Merry no matter what she wore.
           Hiro had burst into giggles again. He motioned her inside before skipping over to the mirror.
           Merry forgot Percy could see them.
           The son of Poseidon looked furious. His mouth moved to shout at Hiro. His eyes darted from them back to the camp.
           Hiro tapped the top of the mirror twice and the screen turned into a reflection, showing the twinkling eyes of a demented twelve-year-old and a sixteen-year-old Indian girl, mostly naked, shivering, whose smile was so stiff, it could have belonged to a Bharatanatyam doll.
           Judging by Hiro’s reactions, that’s what the child thought of her: he was allowed to play with the world for the first time without familial or adult intervention and wanted a new toy.
           To swallow her panic, Merry reviewed her plan. Step one: get the baby to the most remote, safest part of the room. Keep Hiro calm.
           “Hiro, can we keep the baby in the room while Auntie Merry is here? Wouldn’t want her catching a cold while we’re having all our fun, now would we?” she asked, trying to sound lackadaisical. She didn’t want Hiro to think she cared too much about Percy’s little sister. If Hiro was developing the acute narcissism that she suspected, then that would make him jealous. “And, so she doesn’t get in the way of any of our games? I want all my focus to be on you.”
           Hiro thought about this for a minute, then nodded his head vigorously. He wheeled the crib further into the room, to the end of its pulley, closer to the exit.
           Then, the younger boy skipped over to Merry’s side, grabbed her arm, and tugged her closer to the window, where he had a pizza box, baby food, puzzle, and some other games set on a spare altar.
           Good to be away from the baby. Bad to be closer to the window. Merry’s shivers became uncontrollable. Step two: try this the easy-peasy way.
           “Alrighty, tiny, fierce one,” she said. “I like your puzzle. You like, jaguars, eh?”
           The puzzle had a black jaguar depicted with its cub.
           Hiro nodded his head, putting another piece into the corner.
           Merry bobbed her head approvingly. Her mind filtered through jazz songs to keep calm. She ached for her parka or a boom[3] box. She’d even settle for elevator Muzak. Augh. “You know, it looks like you’ve made quite a pickle. You got the tiny Jackson all bundled up. It seems like you like her though, right? Or, at least playing with her?”
           Hiro nodded his head again. He fished inside the pizza box, revealing some pepperoni slices.
           “You wouldn’t want to hurt her though, would you?” she asked.
           Hiro shrugged, withdrawing two slices. Merry wished she knew ASL. Or telepathy. Though, really, telepathy might just disturb her right now.
           “What makes you want to do this then?” she asked gently. She struggled to remember what Lapis had called Pax and Axel. “Is it because of Ajaxapax and Tufted Ears? I heard you were pretty mad at your big brothers. They were meanies to leave you with your father, weren’t they?”
           Hiro slowed in his movements. His cheerful expression soured. He frowned up at her. In an uncertain motion, he nodded his head.
           Hiro offered her a slice of pepperoni pizza.
           “Thank you, sugar plum, but I only eat veggies. No meat for me. Though, that was considerate and lovely of you,” she said, trying to make her smile sweet.
           Hiro shrugged, putting one piece down. He munched the other, eyeing her suspiciously.
           “No one trusts a vegetarian,” she remembered her little brother teasing.
           Merry shook the memory off. This little one was nothing like her brother. “There are other ways to get their attention, you know. Lots of other alternatives and some fun ones—”
           There were lots of alternatives she’d brainstormed on the way over. She wanted to suggest some pranks—Paxes seemed to love pranks. Lots of ways to end this peacefully, so Hiro could skip out of here with her, she could convince Percy not to murder the twelve-year-old, they could send Hiro home to Grandma Chiich for some solid, Mayan scolding, and they could set Hiro up for some major rehabilitative therapy. They could piece the broken Pax family together into a ball of furry mischief.
           Merry never got to say any of her suggestions.
           Hiro withdrew his handgun and pistol-whipped her across the face.
 Thanks for reading!!! We have one more encounter with this psychotic little shit. Tune in next week for Merry’s chapter: Things are NOT Fun and Fancy Free.
[1] Yea, I super forgot that Merry doesn’t know that Calex isn’t with Kally anymore. She’ll definitely destroy him psychologically for that later.
[2] False. Lots of Cathedrals have elevators nowadays.
[3] First accidentally wrote, “Bomb box,” then “boob box,” and finally caught it correctly the third time. -.-
microdrabbles: petits fours
Fandom: Samurai Love Ballad Party Timeline/Continuity: Canon and Modern AU. Characters: All 12 main lords + Shigezane, Hotaru, and Kageie Genre: Varied Microdrabble count: 50 total, anywhere from 2-4 per character Warnings: Spoilers for all routes, Acts 1 and 2. Slight dub con in Mitsuhide’s and Kageie’s sections, but nothing worse than you’d find in canon. Rating: Varied, up to R Notes: Once upon a time when fandoms congregated on Livejournal, they used to have these drabble challenges. One of them was one sentence fics. So you think you’ve seen run-on sentences with metric fucktons (this is an actual legit unit of measurement btw) of commas and hyphens? You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Breaking the rules here and utilizing multiple pairings/characters because that’s how I do. Oof.
You have one cut – make it your best one, he had said.
Y/N smiled: she knew he’d surrender. He always did, and that night was no exception. Because that’s how they were: she ordered and he obeyed, she asked and he gave, she took and he let her take. She was poison and he was her favorite wine. She was evil and he was good and together they were something new.
Roan stared at her while she dragged her tongue along the blade of his dagger, his mind blank and his heart racing, his erection hurting, his skin tingling. She was something else, he thought. Something not human. Something that came out of the black depths of Earth. And he was not the hunter anymore when he was with her. He was his prey and he kept falling into her traps.
The light of the moon threw dangerous shadows on her face. Her skin looked paler than ever, her eyes darker, her core hotter.
She let the blade dance in the air, staring at it mesmerized. Then, suddenly, it flew down towards his chest: in a matter of second a long cut started just inches above his right nipple and crossed his chest to kiss his last rib on his left side.
They both stared, almost in awe, at the blood trickling out the wound. Roan could hardly feel the stinging pain coming from it.
“There,” Y/N smiled, satisfied. “Was it that bad, now?” she asked, a smirk deforming her lips.
She didn’t give him time to think: before he knew it her lips were on the cut she had created and were sucking. His breath choked in his throat, his eyes opened wide, his back involuntarily arched.
He grabbed at her hair and pulled, but she didn’t look fazed: she went on licking his cut, smearing his blood on his chest.
When she got up, her lips and chin were covered in red, drops trickled down her neck onto his abs. She looked like a demon, but Roan didn’t care: he pushed himself into a sitting position, groaning in the pain of the cut, and grabbed her face.
“You’re a monster,” he growled before he crashed their lips together.
She tasted like blood, she smelled like blood. It made his head feel dizzy, his core longing for more.
When she opened her mouth to kiss him back, her tongue was slicker than usual. It was a sticky, angry kiss, but none of them cared. They were each other’s poison and that was their way.
She rocked her hips against him and he moaned, breaking the kiss to catch his breath.
“I might be a monster,” she whispered in his ear, making goosebumps rise on his skin, “but you like it. You can’t deny it, Roan,” and she giggled, the cold skin of her breasts providing some relief to the cut he had on his chest.
He pulled her hair, arching her neck backward. He took his dagger from her hands and held it tight. But when he put it on her skin, he couldn’t get himself to do it, to cut her, to drink her blood like one of those monsters that haunted his childhood.
Y/N took advantage of his distraction and freed herself from her grip. Her hands trailed down his sides to join each other on his abdomen. She went further down but stopped just before touching him.
His eyes flickered in her direction.
“Are you scared?” she asked, nearing her face to his, kissing the corner of his mouth.
He tried to push her away, but he couldn’t get his hands to do it. He was paralyzed and there was nothing his brain could do to free him from the spell she must have cast upon him. “Is this what you let all your lovers do to you?” he wondered, brushing one of her scars with his nails.
“Are you talking about my scars?” she asked, backing a little to watch him in the eyes.
Roan tilted his head to the side, waiting for her answer.
“Punishment from home,” she said, shrugging her shoulders. “A little present from you men.”
“No lover?” Roan insisted.
Y/N laughed. “Are we a little jealous?” She shook her head. “No lover,” she confirmed.
He would never admit it out loud, but the idea of another man’s hands on her skin angered him. “Good,” he said, circled her shoulders with his arm and in a swift movement she was laying on the furs and he was hovering over her. Before she knew it, he had repaid her by opening a cut on her chest: starting from her shoulder it ended on her sternum.
She laughed and reached her hands up to touch his face. She caressed his cheek, brushed the short beard darkening his skin and then traced his lips with her fingers.
Since he didn’t seem like he wanted to start anything, she moved her hand to the back of his head and pushed him towards her. She briefly kissed him. “You can taste it if you want,” she whispered. “And I know you want, Prince.”
Of course, he wanted it. Her body, her skin, her blood, the sex they had together… he wanted anything she had to offer and he’d always want it, crave for it, even.
It was his doom: to want something he could never have, to picture his future with someone who’d never want him back the way he wanted her.
He leaned down, licked her nipple until she couldn’t stand it anymore. He knew she hated it when he did it his way, but there were times when he couldn’t help it when all he could do was follow his instincts. Then, slowly, his tongue licked further up until he got to the cut, to the blood. She tasted bitter in his mouth, her blood prickled his tongue, but he licked her anyway.
Y/N wiggled weakly under him. She loved what she had turned him into, but part of her wasn’t, part of her only wanted to set him free. His heart was in her hands and she wasn’t sure she could hold it without killing it.
Suddenly, almost forcing herself, she stopped him and immediately missed his tongue licking her wound clean.
“Lay down,” she ordered.
And, as always, all Roan could do was obey. What would his Mother say if she saw him like that? Obey to someone like Y/N? To a cast out? But that’s what his heart was waiting for: to be hurt by that girl and to be healed by the same woman. Whatever she was, he was hers and nothing could ever change that – he was sure of this.
She straddled him, locked his hands above his head and smiled evilly. ‘Oh, the things I’m gonna do to you,’ her eyes said. And he was ready to let her do anything she wanted because that was the untold deal and truth between them: the Prince bowed and the subject girl rose upon him.
Her chest was smeared with blood, and his blood was there too, mixed with her own, confusing its edges into hers, marking her pale, frozen skin like fire.
She lowered towards him, licked the lobe of his right ear, biting it a little, before licking down towards his jaw. Her hands left his wrists to caress his still bleeding wound. Roan hissed in pain, but let her do for he couldn’t bring himself to stop her. He was at her mercy, whether he liked it or not, and denying it wouldn’t do any good.
Pulling back, she outlined her lips with the blood she had on her fingers.
“Take my blood,” she whispered, lowering her hips even more until their cores touched.
His fingers reached the wound he had opened on her body, they dipped in her blood, they smeared it on her breasts before they reached his own lips. Her blood was cold, a blessing as he felt like he was boiling.
Y/N smiled, staring down at him. She licked his lips with her tongue before kissing him, tasting both of them, pressing down onto his chest.
Roan grazed her back with his bloodied hands, leaving marks with his nails, cupping her butt and squeezing.
Then, almost suddenly, her lips slipped from his, her mouth sucked at his Adam’s apple, her teeth grazed his skin. She then proceeded with the licking, quickly reaching his cut and licking it again and again, driving him crazy, his eyes rolled back in his skull, his lips parted and his breathing ragged.
Y/N smiled against his skin, biting his abdomen.
When she took his erection in her mouth, Roan’s hips involuntarily snapped upwards. Y/N’s hands were quick to stop his movements, pushing down on his hip bones almost as if she had expected him to react that way. She pulled back and licked his cock to the base and then back up. It was a matter of seconds before it was smeared with blood, and Y/N couldn’t say that the view didn’t turn her on.
Roan was staring at her, urging her with his eyes to continue. His breathing was ragged with anticipation and he could feel his cock throb in her hand.
She smiled, looking up at him, and one of her hands reached down between her legs. She moaned when she touched her clit, rubbing circles around it, throwing her head back. With the corner of her eye, she could still see Roan, his frown for her not paying attention to his erection, and she smirked.
She penetrated herself with a finger, bluntly staring at him, her other hand gently stroking his cock. When she started to move her finger, adding a second one, Roan tried to get up, but she stopped him, squeezing his cock a little too hard.
“I didn’t say you could move,” she smiled, retrieved her fingers and licked them.
She then proceeded to please him some more, sucking a little the head of his penis. Roan’s moans filled her ears and made her smile: she liked the way she made him feel, the way she had him at her feet. She would get away with anything with him and he wouldn’t punish her – she didn’t know why, but at the moment it looked like it didn’t matter.
She took him in her mouth, and slowly pushed down and then back up again. Her eyes never left his face, the way his chest heaved with each breath.
He tried to plea, but couldn’t, because when it came to her he was always paralyzed. He could almost feel her presence in his head, numbing his senses.
When she dropped down on him and he filled her, she took him by surprise. His eyes were still closed, his mind focused on keeping breathing while she worked his erection. Then, all of a sudden, she was on top of him, grinning, body covered in blood.
Roan sighed, grazing her thighs and resting his hands on her hips.
“Oh, the things you do to me, Y/N,” he muttered and pushed her hips against hers. His head rolled back on the furs, his eyes closed.
She giggled, caressing his chest, avoiding the cut to not cause him pain. When she started moving and her breath got caught in her throat, she thought she saw Roan smiling while his hands grabbed her hips tighter.
Her moans were music to Roan’s ears because she was so cold that it almost looked impossible for her to feel anything at all. When she moved her hands from his chest to her breasts, squeezing them almost painfully, her head thrown back and her eyes rolled back, Roan took the freedom to invert their positions, laying her flat on her stomach on the furs and penetrating her from behind her, and to speed up the pace.
His chest grazed her back with every movement. When he angled her right leg so that it was forming a right angle, he pushed in deeper and for a moment he feared that Y/N had stopped breathing. But then her hand reached the hand holding her leg still and it grasped it, nails penetrating his skin while she couldn’t even moan his name anymore.
Roan’s breath got shorter rapidly, her walls clenched around him more and more, while his free hand pushed on her back to steady himself.
“Roan,” she whispered desperately, trying to push herself up to rest on her elbows, but the man stopped her.
He slowed down his pace, torturing her, pushing in and deep, almost making her scream in frustration. He leaned over to kiss her shoulder, skins grazing with each thrust. He bit her again, right in the crook of her neck this time and she moaned loudly. A few thrusts later he felt her clenching around his cock. He saw her closing her eyes tightly, clenching her jaw almost as if she didn’t want to scream his name, but he knew how to make her and that time was no exception.
When she came, he pulled out and she rolled on her back to welcome him again. He pushed in at the same time as his lips made contact with her skin covered in blood. Y/N was still moaning and sighing when he came with a loud grunt, biting down on her shoulder.
He kept still in that position for a while, his hips still thrusting into her sloppily for a while before he pulled out.
Roan stared down at her, hovering over her, and pulled strands of her hair away from her face.
“You were going to end this tonight, weren’t you?” he asked, fear, disappointment, pain clear in his sore voice.
She nodded. “This isn’t good for you.”
“But you’re not the one who decides what’s good for me or not.”
A giggle. “You’re right.”
“I don’t want this to end.”
“Then don’t.”
They stared at each other for what felt like ages before she kissed him, a chaste kiss compared to the ones she always gave him.
And he knew, in that moment, that his heart was not safe in her hands, but there was no other place where he’d rather have it.
Los Angeles (Part 6)
Remember a little fic called Los Angeles I started a very long time ago now? xD Dribs and drabs have been sitting in the wasteland that is my drafts for a while now, but apparently today I somehow was able to find two parts (part 7 coming shortly xD). So here’s part 6 :) And for those of you who haven’t read, or need some reminding, all the other parts are linked below :)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5
“Wake up sleepy head.” A soft, friendly voice coming from beside the bed woke Amelia up from her sleep.
“Owen I told you…” She said sleepily, sitting up and waiting for her brain to adjust to being awake. “Maggie?”
The person beside her bed, wasn’t actually her husband. It wasn’t even someone that lived or worked near. It was someone who lived and worked in an entirely different state and had lots of responsibilities back there, but somehow, she was standing next to Amelia’s bed with her same old smile.
“What are you doing here?” Amelia asked, confused.
“My sister had surgery, not to mention she ran away and didn’t tell anyone where she was going or if she was okay.” Maggie said, a little more snappy than the tone she usually spoke with, but that was just because she had been worried.
“I’m fine.” Amelia lied, sitting up a little more before deciding that was definitely a mistake this early on.
“Says the woman sitting in a hospital bed after having to have emergency surgery.” Maggie said, sitting down in the chair beside the bed and placing her bag on the floor underneath.
“I’m fine.” Amelia repeated, not intending on getting into anything even slightly deep about how she was actually feeling. If she told her she was fine enough, maybe she would believe it.
“What are we going to do with you.” Maggie said, with a little smile and a friendly sigh. “I tried to get Meredith to come, but she couldn’t find anyone to take the kids, and Alex-” Maggie explained, because she really had thought Meredith should come, it was important to be there for the people in your life, especially the people you care about, or who care about you, but with three kids and Alex probably going to jail, it was just impossible.
“Yes, because that was why she didn’t come.” Amelia said sarcastically, it wasn’t like Meredith would have come even if she could find childcare and Alex wasn’t going to jail. It was Amelia.
“Okay. What can I do to cheer you up?” Maggie asked, because she couldn’t stand to see Amelia when she wasn’t happy, and she didn’t believe for two seconds that Amelia saying she was fine, meant she was actually fine.
“You don’t need to do anything.” Amelia said, moving a piece of hair out of her face and trying not to make eye contact.
“I’ll go get us some food.” Maggie decided, leaving the room before Amelia could even begin to protest.
Amelia sat back and looked around the room for a few moments. She wished that she wasn’t here, she wished that she was back in Seattle and she had never been pregnant and she had never ruined her marriage. She wished that she could erase everything that had happened since then and just go back to how everything was when it was good. She couldn’t though, there was no possible way. Now she wouldn’t be able to work for at least 10 days, and she had a whole new kind of pain on her shoulders that she didn’t want to, and didn’t know how she was even going to begin to deal with. Magic, that would have been an acceptable way. Fast, easy, painless. Magic though, also wasn’t possible, and wouldn’t be no matter how much she hoped.
“Addie.” Amelia said as the red head slid open the doors to Amelia’s room and stepped inside.
“We need to check out that incision.” Addison said, walking over to the bed and sitting down on the edge.
“So you’re here in your role as doctor.” Amelia said, lifting up her top and allowing Addison to see the incision site, which really wasn’t very big at all if you actually looked right at it.
“I saw you have a visitor.” Addison said, checking out Amelia’s incision and making sure it was healing properly.
“The sadness police.” Amelia answered, flinching slightly as Addison continued her checks.
“The sadness police?” Addison asked, stuffing in a laugh.
“Maggie. She’s just so cheerful, all the time. The worst thing that’s ever happened to her was her parent’s divorce. She’s practically rainbows and sunshine.”  Amelia continued, describing who was behind that name.
“She seems to really care about you.” Addison remarked. It made her happy that Amelia had people who cared about her in Seattle, that was a really important thing.
“She cares about everyone.” Amelia said, not that this was a bad thing. Maggie had one of the biggest hearts, it was just sometimes the cheerful thing, wasn’t a big help.
“That’s a good thing.” Addison reminded Amelia, just incase she wasn’t getting it that it was indeed a good thing. “Your incision looks as we’d expect, it’s healing well.” Addison added in her role as doctor, as well as friend. “I think we should be able to discharge you either later today, or tomorrow.”
“Addie…” Amelia said, her voice now quiet and vulnerable. She took a deep breath, and settled herself back into the pillows.
“Hey, I’m not going anywhere.” Addison comforted, taking Amelia’s hand in hers and rubbing the back of it with her thumb. “But I did see Owen sitting in the waiting room…” Addison looked at Amelia like she was her child and she had eaten too much before dinner, but instead of telling her that, she was going to make her say it.
“He’s still here?” Amelia said, a glitter of hope shining in her eyes as she spoke.
“He’s your husband, he loves you.” Addison knew that was the one and only reason he was here, there wasn’t even any question about it. He had come, he was here.
“I told him to go home.” Amelia said, almost wishing she could curl up into a ball and disappear right about now.
“And you thought he would listen?” Addison asked, but it really wasn’t a question. It didn’t need an answer.
“No,” Amelia decided, because as much as she had been hoping that he would, part of her knew even when she was speaking the words that he wasn’t actually going to get on a plane and go back to Seattle. “Not really.”
"Food." Maggie said, walking back into the patient room and placing a selection of different food down on the table beside Amelia's bed. "And I'm gonna need you to talk to me." She continued, a little more stern than her usual manner.
"Maggie, I can't." Amelia emphasized, accidentally tugging on her IV and flinching as soon as she felt it, scrunching up both her face and her fists.
"I can't imagine what you're going through, but I can tell you're hurting. I can imagine-I can imagine you would be hurting, a lot." Maggie perched on the edge of Amelia’s bed and looked at her sympathetically. Even though they weren’t related by blood, she did care incredibly deeply for Amelia, and considered her family. She was going to do everything within her power to get her through this.
"Has Owen actually gone?" She asked, her voice vulnerable, spitting out a question in the hopes of changing the subject.
“He hasn’t. He’s still sitting out there, hasn’t even moved an inch.” Maggie answered, feeling for Owen as well because out there all alone, there was no one to be there for him, to help him. “I don’t think he’s gonna leave, you know that right?” She asked, even though she was already certain of Amelia’s answer.
“I know.” Amelia slowly nodded. She knew all too well that he wasn’t going anywhere, but that didn’t mean he shouldn’t. She had told him to go, why hadn’t he gone? It had been hours.
“You should talk to him. I can get a wheelchair, we can-” Maggie started, getting cut off by Amelia before she could finish what she had been going to suggest.
“Maggie.” Amelia said, louder than Maggie’s voice but not loud enough to be considered shouting. She just wanted to be heard. “I can’t. I can’t do that.” She said, her voice breaking as she spoke.
“No one said you have to do it alone, you don’t have to do it alone. You don’t have to do any of this alone. You aren’t alone, you have people. You have a lot of people.” Maggie said, putting a hand on top of Amelia’s and wrapping her fingers around slightly, giving it a little squeeze.
Any ear hair?: i think? idk i dont really look in his ears66. Favorite view from a window?: he likes to watch birds and cars67. Describe why they are precious.: he has been my baby for so long and i picked him myself and i can tell he is happy with me68. Fit the cat stereotype?: practically to a T69. Donald Trump: An Investigation, Part 1
By Willpower Butch
It is the wisdom of many erudite historians that what social, economic, and existential ills are not caused by the government are the work of anal omnivores. Since the untimely French vacation of eminent manly man Jack Palance in 1963, the core of the American political regime and the organized wedding pansies have been one and the same. In an age where many crimes go unaccounted for -- from ukulele loners to interactive Barbie phalloplasty kits -- one matter in particular is near to the substantial biceps of Manly Men! Magazine’s editorial staff. By way of investigating Paul Dano’s illegal gaysexualization of Sad Gandalf’s dick magnet, correspondent Paragon Shag proceeded with all haste to the residence of Donald J. Trump, America’s most prominent true crime celebrity and sheik of sexual harassment on earth, who could surely answer his enlarged questions. Armed on this holy mission with only a family-size canister of drugstore blush, he embarked from his Rhode Island property on Good Friday, 2017, ignorant of the Spanish activist poetry that awaited him.
 Cant-bro I: Escaping the Wood
Passing from the cul-de-sac of his condemned bourbon mattress into the backwoods from Gus Van Sant’s Japanese suicide fetish, Shag felt his ankle hair shrivel into nanciful fuzz. His heart was stopped by a flood of genteel dignity. “Lesbians,” he whispered, pouncing behind a boulder just as the grotesque silhouette of a buzz-cut, muscle-shirt-clad pregnantagonist emerged from the tight opening between two arched fruit trees. Slowing to adjust her pocketless denim, the mammarian sniffed the air carefully. Upon detecting the spice of heterosexual perfection, she made her way to Shag’s rock. She halted before it and touched the surface, causing the stone to crumble into the chalk of a million surprise Ecstasy fellatios. Shag clutched his package as he came indecently into view of the she-man.
“You think you can infect us with rape culture?” she screamed. “We may all be vegan indie rappers, but that doesn’t mean we won’t enjoy watching you spin on a medical dildo to the soundtrack from The Joy Luck Club, Testomorph.” Her eyes glinted with body-positive armpit worship. “This is for Wonder Woman.” Brandishing her boy band-scented implements, she approached Shag, channeling the evil power of quinoa. “Say goodbye to your white privilege.”
Suddenly, a monster truck of sacred light descended from the treetops, and before them appeared the long-dead ghost of Mickey Rourke. Shag recoiled in manly courage, but the fair-weather Buddhist was undeterred. “You think you can fight me with a freezer-burnt church stroker? I have the miracle of childbirth on my side,” she snorted with disdainful laughter.
The shade crouched low, drawing his gargantuan arm back, and took a deep drag from his coal cigar. “Children are pussies,” he roared, and with that, he let fly his fist. It connected with her chin, sending the womosexual high into the air, into the sun, vanishing from sight like Dominic Monaghan.
Shag exhaled his morally ungay emotion. Left alone with this stranger, it occurred to him that the phantom may not be all that it seemed until, finally, it addressed him. “If I have to look at these goddamn trees for five more seconds, I’m gonna beat them into popsicle sticks.” Shag relaxed then, reassured that it was truly the spirit of his late gym partner.
“Help me, sir, for I am on a butch task to make Donald Trump answer for his Edith Piaf slippers,” appealed the correspondent. He then bit off his own breast envy and broke down into a display of armless push-ups. Moved by Shag’s engorging virility, Rourke flexed his affirmation, and the two individual men set out in vague, unlubricated proximity of each other.
After a distinguished silence, Shag asked Rourke how he had come to know of Shag’s throbbing adventure.
“The guy who told me to come is the baddest motherfucker of any of us,” said he. “He makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like Jean-Claude van Damme.”
“No,” replied Shag in disbelief. “It cannot be.”
“You bet your ass it’s David Carradine,” shouted Rourke, kicking a squirrel.
Heartened by the muscular attention of his hero, Shag and his comrade boarded the train to Satan’s province and began their long travail.
Cant-bro II: Limbo
When Shag awoke, they had arrived in the first circle of hell. “Why is everyone bent over?” he asked. “Is this some sort of Episcopalian ritual?”
“No, man,” came Rourke’s hushed warning. “It’s the Greeks. God threw them in the bullshit for inventing shade.” So distressed was my friend the correspondent at the sight of ethnics trying to deal with Joan Crawford that he fell back swiftly into a troubled sleep.
Cant-bro III: Gays
He came to once more to the sound of innocent children being corrupted by manga. “Where are we now?” Shag inquired of his guide and then noticed heterosexfully that Rourke was sitting by the opposite window, a crossbow lodged under his heroically swelling nipples. “Are we under attack?”
“Yes,” the manly man growled back. “We are under attack for our marriage.” It was then that Shag heard a loud synthesizer from without the train, and the car pendulated. Thrown up against the glass, he saw with his own eyes what was destroying America: dozens of small gays ramming up against the cabin like erect wasps, violently knitting war film bisexuals. In the center of them emerged a glittery, Baileys-drenched ‘70s muscle stripper, the sight of whom caused Shag’s blood to freeze. “Darling! You came back for another taste of my see-through ice cream!” purred the woman. It was Ben Whishaw, undulating in his bead skirt as he stroked a hand sensuously through the bristles of his porn mustache. Aroused by the presence of sweaty men, he came to alertness out of his Tylenol-induced strip-tease and, after disentangling himself from a blonde naval street predator, he leapt through the open window beside Shag.
“My love!” he exclaimed, demurely licking Shag’s stratum of chest hair. “Don’t be afraid. I’m a changed man. Look!” Whishaw touched his upper lip proudly. “I’ve become a straight!”
“Don’t listen to Hindu Rachel Weisz,” yelled Rourke. “She’s tryna slip white wine in your vodka!”
Shag karate-chopped the wall, sending a number of homosexists flying. “I will never fund your bearded child pageant!” he declared. With that, he lifted Whishaw high above his head and tossed him back out the window like a paper mache lioness. “Go peddle your human protein shakes elsewhere, Boy George!”
Soon, Paragon Shag slumped back in his seat, exhausted by his sacred duty to resuscitate divorce. The manly men’s train pulled out of the gay wastelands skillfully, and as it did, they heard in the distance the nasal voices of trendy Jesuits seducing Mahler fairies at a midnight Waffle House as they descended further into America.
Cant-bro IV: KFC
“What is the meaning of this?” Shag demanded as their vessel nose-dived into a lake of fiery chicken grease. “You cannot tell me that the ‘90s is here, too?” Rourke shook his head and indicated out the window, where Shag beheld a remarkable thing: an enormous structure in the shape of God’s preference of men, its tip aglow with yellow lights. It read, ‘Drumpf Shaft.’ Shag looked upon it with his mouth open, doused in pure, volcanic admiration.
“Why,” Shag breathed, “I don’t believe I have ever beheld such an attractive spectacle.” The thing rose so high and proud that it blotted into the sun, casting the netherworld in moist darkness. “It must be so wonderful on the inside. Shall we try to see it up close?”
Losing patience, Rourke disciplined my friend with a majestic bitch parade. “That’s how the queers get you,” Rourke cautioned him. “One day you’re admiring each other’s towers, and the next he’s licking Halloween glitter off your sliding back door.” Shag swallowed his disgust, and his arm hair grew three inches in manly indignation. So that’s what happened to James Franco, he thought bitterly.
Their train continued to slice through the countryside, leaving far in its wake the many fabulants of years past who had made the world today such a cataclysm of Nancy Sinatra hookers. A rare calm befell them. As Shag stretched out again, lulled by the peaceful monsoon winds and the biblical throw-downs of slap-fighting car wash preachers, he confided in his companion. “If it could only be like this always. Always men. Manly men. The manliest-tempered ungay fruit ripeness of muscle manliness. Men.”
