Both of them ??✧
Tumblr media
Plot: They came to comfort you.
A/N: Suggestive??
Tumblr media
The cramped cabin felt suffocatingly claustrophobic as you huddled trembling in the corner, tears streaking silently down your flushed cheeks.
Echoes of your fallen comrades' dying screams reverberated through your mind's frantic, panicked spiral.
Eren - that twisted embodiment of rage and hatred incarnate - unleashed untold horrors upon the world.
Countless dead beneath a merciless stampede of Titans set on rendering humanity extinct. All over some misguided bid for twisted vengeance.
And now, you teetered on the razor's edge of that genocidal abyss alongside your remaining friends.
One wrong move, one faltering of conviction...was all it would take to get swept over into that ravenous maw of obliteration right alongside Eren's monstrous ambitions.
Hot, stinging droplets splashed from beneath your tightly-squeezed lids as you buried your face in your knees.
Why?
Just...why had everything gone so horrifically awry?
A metallic groan heralded the cabin door swinging open with an ominous creak. You flinched instinctively, shoulders hunching defensively as those cloying shadows spilled across the floor towards your curled form.
Until two deeply familiar, gruff voices sliced through the keening misery ricocheting endlessly within your skull.
"Hey, kiddo. You alright over there?"
Steeling your composure through shuddering inhales, you dragged the heels of your palms across your cheeks before glancing up at the striking figures framed by the threshold's bleak lighting.
Jean and Reiner gazed down with matching masks of grim resolution - all taut jawlines squared with stubborn fortitude masking the softness simmering in those slate and honey irises.
A marked departure from the roguish, incandescent youths once hell-bent on proving themselves amidst those carefree military training days in the sun.
Lean muscle solidified by battlefields replacing wiry boyish forms, chiseled features sharpened by years of combat severity into something inhumanly statuesque.
Even the unkempt stubble misting matching jawlines lent some wild, rogue charm belying their hardened edges.
All at once, you registered a searing pang twist through your core quite differently from the anguish clenching it mere moments prior.
It smoldered hot and insistent, quickening your pulse until you felt dizzy and curiously feverish despite the chill swaddling the tiny cabin.
Whoa...when did they get so...?
Your mind faltered lamely through the haze of adrenaline and lust thrumming white-hot through your veins like heady liquor.
Heat blossomed undeniably in your cheeks as sordid thoughts scattered your reeling focus.
"I'm...I'm f-fine!" you squeaked, dropping your gaze with a violent shake of your head.
As if harboring notions that sordid involving two of your closest comrades wasn't depravity itself.
The very idea of pleasuring not one but both those towering, battle-hewn Adonic specimens spurred viscous, all-too-vivid fantasies to swamp your psyche.
Fevered daydreams where every lascivious hunger, every illicit friction, every indecent cry got magnified tenfold by the unholy prospect of being sandwiched between their bulging musculatures.
You silently reprimanded yourself through labored breaths, willing the sinful deluge corrupting your senses away through sheer force.
Until Reiner planted one massive paw squarely on your shoulder, fingertips sinking into the taut cords of muscle there.
"Don't give us that bullshit," the hulking warrior growled, blonde stubble swaying with the rippling motion of his voice. His honeyed irises lashed by pale lids bored into yours with blazing, unshakable intensity.
"We're way past hiding shit from each other."
"That's right," Jean chimed in, mirroring Reiner's steely countenance.
His slender fingers brushed the stray tendrils matted to your sweat-sheened brow with startling tenderness.
"So talk to us - either of us, or both. You know it's okay to unload on your fellow soldiers for once."
The simple weight of their voices - deep, gritty ravers caressing over every syllable with such unspoken affection and care - proved your undoing.
Unleashing a deluge of scorching, mortifying yearning pooling liquid-hot in your loins with a disconcerting pulse.
Oh Fuck...These sinful thoughts...how is this even possible right now? About them of all people. After everything we've been through?!
Yet as maddening lucidity trickled back into your lust-glazed eyes, confirming the lusty sparks mirrored amidst Jean and Reiner's equally molten expressions, you realized something profound.
You craved this unorthodox outlet. The ultimate intimate submission, the total escape into primitive bliss beyond reason or complication or crushing stakes.
To shatter apart completely in your beloved brothers' loving, capable hands like surrogate messiahs ferrying your shattered spirit into ecstasy's sanctum reprieve.
Mutely, you nodded before surging to your feet - backing away on wobbling legs until your shoulders bumped the cabin's reinforced wall.
Two pairs of searing gazes speared you to the spot, radiating the same furnace of scintillating energy that pulsed through your veins and ached between your thighs.
Heartbeats stampeding in your ears, a hyper-awareness sharpened your vision onto every tantalizing detail.
How Reiner's broad chest ballooned with undulating breaths, eyes glittering with primal promise.
How Jean dragged his tongue along the plush curvature of his lower lip, leaving it slicked and swollen in unconscious temptation.
Fuck. They want this too. Really, really want it.
Gasping aloud at the delicious epiphany, you watched blithe and expectant as both demigods surged forward - powerful strides unwavering and unbroken.
Gaits predatory yet betraying no urgency nor aggression, just the promise of total unhurried obliteration upon celestial impact.
Two behemoth silhouettes consumed you within their intersecting, heated eclipses, blotting out reality altogether.
Fingers splayed against your rain-slicked window of separation, breath quickening until the first feverish graze of Reiner's searching fingertips scorched across your jugular...only to freeze in tandem with Jean's insistent tug at your chin as a familiar voice echoed through the hall beyond.
"Hey guys? Where'd you all run off t-- oh, there you are! Got a second?"
Armin's curious tenor crashed through the thickened veil like a bucketful of ice water extinguishing smoldering embers.
All three of you snapped back with a violent, breathless jolt.
Gulping audibly, you averted your eyes and hastily mumbled some excuse about needing air before bolting from the oppressive cabin confines.
Footfalls ringing out against hollow steel, you fled the unbearable, unresolved tension blazing in your wake alongside the feverish maelstrom of unrequited, sinfully fervid hunger threatening to chew you asunder from within.

I cannot thank @hanaranjada enough for the beautiful artwork they did for Reiner Braun and my OC Addie. They're absolutely gorgeous. If you haven't checked them out before you should totally do it now, both Tumblr and Patreon.

Wonderland (Part 3) x Reiner Braun.
third and final part finally here! this artwork had me spiralling for months - and i hope you enjoyed it as much as i did. this will be the concluding part of the series but nevertheless, not the last work about reiner eheh. thank you for being part of this journey with me <;3 (part 1 here) (part 2 here). as always, let me know what you think!
Follows AOT timeline, so please be mindful of any spoilers ahead. Specifically, this first part contains spoilers from season 4 (every animated part). The segments and different timezones of the story are divided by quotes from different Taylor Swift songs, which were vital for the formation of this idea. More specifically, the song that served as the backbone for this part of the story was The Great War, from the Midnights album. This part also used Out of the Woods, from the 1989 album, Afterglow, from the Lover album and Renegade, by Big Red Machine and Taylor Swift, from the How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last album.
gn! reader.
usual AOT violence.
2.7K words.
Tumblr media
All the the bloodshed, crimson clover .
Forcing you to kneel on the ground, Floch pinned your hands behind your back and quickly handcuffed you, preparing you for the execution planned by Yelena. A small laugh escaped your lips as you realised how ironically your fate had played out. Being held at gun point, gagged by a stupid cloth between your teeth, tied behind your head tight enough to not slip away. What you were leaving behind was a legacy of lies and betrayal, patriotism winning over love. How ironic of Marley to invade Paradise now that you were seconds away from dying - taking away the last ridiculous crumb of hope to see Reiner once again.
It probably didn't matter - he probably hated you by now, you knew very well what it meant to be betrayed by the one you loved the most. It was the type of pain that never really goes away, like an old scar that still burns even after years. You and Reiner were even now, but at what cost? Did he love you as much as you loved him? Was he ever torturing himself for what he did the way that you kept doing since the first night you slept without him?
The first gunshot you heard made you jump a little. It was close to you, enough to momentarily make your ears whistle. Jean always had a good aim, what was this bullshit? The second one followed almost immediately, just a few centimetres away from the other one. When the third shot missed you too, you knew something was off - and before you could realise it, you were pulled away from the whole scene by Mikasa, who was quick to untie you.
Handing you your ODM equipment, Mikasa silently pointed out towards the city. And that's when you saw him - towering even Eren's titan, his golden armour shining through the explosion's smokes. A small smile formed on your lips - you missed him so much, yet you were fighting again. In different fractions, on opposite sides.
It was an endless fight - every second, you saw your companions falling from the sky, shot down like birds. You were doing your best to protect your comrades, soaring through the sky and killing your enemies as if they were annoying flies. There was no time to wonder about morality anymore - it was you against them. Orders from Jean asked you to pay no mind to the titans that were entering the city through the breach on the wall, unless they were a threat to life - and so you did. You kept fighting and fighting, until a screeching scream stopped you in your tracks - a roar so familiar, that you couldn't quite recognise.
When you finally turned around, you saw the Armoured titan's nape being bitten and slowly destroyed by a titan. For the first time in years, an old, paralysing feeling invaded your body. Your muscles stiffened whilst your heart started beating so fast it could have almost burst out of your chest.
Fear.
For the first time in years, you were afraid. It took you more than what you wished it did for you to finally soar through the sky again, using the remains of the surrounding buildings as levers to your ODM gears, running towards Reiner. The normal titan had now changed its target but Reiner was standing still, impaled by one of Eren's fists. Using one of your thunder spears, you aimed at Reiner's nape - it was now or never. In seconds that felt like an eternity, you grabbed Reiner out of his titan body.
"C'mon big boy, wake up!"
You said through gritted teeth\, wrapping one of Reiner's arm around your shoulder and soaring through the sky once again. He wasn't responding, his body was heavier than yours and it was slowing your movements down. This couldn't be the end - not for him, not for you. And if it was, you wouldn't have left him behind anymore. It was you and him now, regardless. And if he had to die tonight, then you would too.
Twenty stitches in a hospital room - when you started crying, baby, I did too.
Finally finding repair in a now abandoned house, you laid Reiner's body on the floor. Searching through the various drawers, you managed to find a blanket and a first aid kit - not the best you could ask for, but definitely enough to save his life. Despite his self-healing abilities, you were still afraid he wouldn't be able to heal properly on his own. His body kept giving off steam, slowly closing his wounds.
Tucking him with a warm blanket and providing him the best pillow you could find, you finally sat back. The war outside was still going strong - at every second, a loud explosion would make the walls tremble. Screams of pain and terror filled the brief moments of silence between gunshots and bombs. You took a second to take a closer look at Reiner, your gaze meticulously scanning the way he was seemingly sleeping like a baby, the usual crouch on the bridge of his nose now finally relaxed. It had been months since the last time you saw him, but it felt like an eternity; he almost looked older - his beard was longer and the lines on his face seemed a little deeper. Scribbling a quick note on a piece of paper which you left next to his pillow, you kissed his temple and fixed your equipment - your friends were still out there fighting as the apocalypse succumbed on Paradise, and it was your duty to fight.
You were on a roof with Mikasa and Armin when the walls started to crumble. One by one, each colossal titan trapped inside the walls was released, marching away from the Island. The earth trembled with every step they took, filling the air with steam and an unbearable rumble. Nonetheless, the city was now invaded by titans - familiar titans, with a name, a life, a story. With Armin co-ordinating the attack once again, you gave one final goodbye to whom was once a fellow cadet, or a captain.
My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in; I'll tell you the truth, but never goodbye.
"Enough!"
You screamed, stopping Jean's arm from landing one more punch on Reiner's face, now covered in blood. Reiner didn't even flinch - he stood still, taking every hit from Jean's angry fists, ignoring every survival instinct he might have had. The usual adrenaline did not kick in - not a fight or flight situation, he just let violence rain over him.
"Enough."
You reiterated with a firmer tone, softening your grip on Jean's arm and letting your hand slide to his shoulder - to comfort him, of course, or to have a better grip if you needed to pin him down to stop him. A sigh of relief escaped your lips when you felt Jean's muscles relax under your touch, his intimidating gaze never leaving Reiner's. Carefully, you moved in front of Jean, your body now acting as a barrier between him and Reiner. Resting your hands on his chest, you gently pushed him backwards, forcing him to take a few steps back. Your steps followed his, never letting your hands slip off his chest. This was always your thing, after all - calming Jean down, dragging him off from the dark places his mind often wondered to. And so did he - you lost count of the amount of times he saved your life, sometimes more metaphorically than others.
Jean's eyes were now piercing yours - his brows were still frowned but he slowly regained his composure. His breathing was still heavy from the adrenaline rush he had experienced, but it slowly became steadier, more regular. As much as you hated to admit it, you were partially responsible for Jean's outburst - his hatred towards Reiner has been fuelled and nurtured for years. He was the one who saved you when Reiner pushed you off the Wall Maria, he was there when you almost got eaten by a titan because you were still grieving Reiner's betrayal to fight properly. He had wiped every tear and saved you every time - yet, at the end of the day, you always ran back to Reiner. Regardless of how bad he had hurt you, regardless of all the times you said you hated him - you always fell back into Reiner's arms. And Jean hated it - he hated the way you would always break your back to surprise Reiner, the way he would always win. Jean hated Reiner because he was still alive after all the shit he had done and Sasha wasn't, he hated him for the way he always managed to somehow redeem himself and have his happy ever after. Even now, the absence of any kind of reaction disgusted Jean - Reiner took every blow, knowing that he would self-heal every wound in a matter of minutes. More than that, Jean was disgusted by Reiner's audacity to give you the silent treatment - if he could have done it, Jean would have probably shoved an hand down Reiner's throat and pull all the words you needed to hear: something along the lines of "thanks for saving my ass out there" or "I don't deserve you".
Yet, all you received was silence. Even when everyone laughed at Hange's reaction to the cart titan, even when you called out his name to ask him if he wanted more soup. It was as if the armour of his titan was still working even now, in his human form - keeping his emotions safe, locking his heart into a silent crypt.
Tell me that I'm all you want, even when I break your heart.
Sneaking out of your tent in the middle of the night, you made your way to Reiner's sleeping bag.
"Can we talk?"
You whispered, shaking his shoulder in an attempt to wake him up. Shifting in his sleeping bag, he slowly turned around to face you.
"Reiner, I swear to god.." You mumbled again, this time in a more menacing tone. Anticipating your moves, he instinctively moved away from your painful grip before you could pinch him awake. It was an old habit of yours, a trick you had learned to be very effective when trying to get him out of bed during particularly sleepy mornings. For a brief second, Reiner almost forgot he was sleeping on the ground in the middle of a forest - for a sweet moment, memories of the two you spending all morning in bed came back to him in a blur.
Stepping away from the little camp Hange improvised, you walked your way into the woods. The flickering campfire you had lit hours ago was still burning, allowing you to catch a glimpse of Reiner's face. His tall figure was laying against one of the trees, his muscular arms crossed across his chest.
"I had no other choice. And I'm sure you know how it feels."
You finally spoke, finally breaking that uncomfortable silence that had suddenly settled between the two of you. Your words came out sharper than intended, hitting Reiner exactly where it hurt him the most.
"You're a better liar than I ever was."
Reiner quickly replied, a chuckle escaping his lips as he locked his eyes on yours.
"What's there to talk about? Didn't you say enough already, with all your fairytales about love and forgiveness? "
He continued through gritted teeth; he was furious, but his voice slightly cracked mid-sentence, betraying his stoic façade. There was a subtle irony to the nature of his hurt - you followed his steps, bringing destruction and death upon his country. Reiner shared his tears and nightmares with you, he showed you the depth of his remorse, the sincerity of his regrets - and you had cried with him, you told him that none of it mattered now that you had each other. Days turned into week and before you could even realise it, you were living together. He even bought a ring: he only had a few years to live and nothing to lose; he wanted to dedicate his life to you. Instead, you left without a warning sign and dragged him down to the end of the world, forcing him to be what he hated the most - a weapon, a monster, a cold blooded assassin.
"Why do you think I saved you? I don't want to be thanked for it, but at least dare to look at me? At least try to acknowledge my existence instead of treating me if nothing ever happened, like what we had wasn't real."
You snapped back, raising your voice. Words kept rolling off your tongue, you were speaking faster than you could think and you almost lost your breath.
"I really don't know. I don't know why you saved me, I don't know what that ridiculous love scene with Jean was, I don't know what those months spent together meant to you! Because if they did mean something, then why did you leave? Why did you leave me behind when you knew, you knew! You knew I would have followed you!"
Reiner roared back, the vein on his neck become more and more visible. His body was now only few inches away from yours, his taller figure completely obliterating yours.
Silence dawned between the two of you once again - you had never seen Reiner so mad. There was so much you wanted to say, but the lump in your throat killed every word before it could come out, leaving you like a nervous, silent wreck in front of the man you loved. It was the end of the world and this time, you were defenceless. There were only a few steps between you and Reiner - he was close enough to let his breath caress your face, the scent of his cologne burning in your lungs with every breath.
"I had to." You finally whispered, only causing Reiner to sigh in response, trying is best to not snap at you again. Your voice was weak, troubled by the burning knot in your throat. He brushed on his wide hand against his face, as if that gesture could help him reorganise his thoughts.
"Is it insensitive for me to say get your shit together, so I can love you?"
Reiner replied hopelessly, another sigh leaving his lips. His voice was calmer now, but his words felt heavy, sharp as a dagger piercing through your heart, once inch after the other.
Weakly shaking your head in response and the sound of you snorting your tears away was all it took to melt Reiner's heart. Wrapping his arms around you, he brought you closer to him - your head was now resting against his chest as the tears you were hardly fighting finally streamed down your cheeks. Being into Reiner's arms felt just right - as if all the planets just aligned, as if all your broken pieces were put together again.
When you first agreed to your mission in Liberio, you weren't expecting to fall in love all over again with Reiner. You thought these feelings were buried deep enough to never emerge again, hidden under a carpet of hatred and resentment. You entered Liberio wanting revenge, wanting to be even with Reiner. But when you left, revenge didn't taste as sweet as you expected; rather, it felt like sour liquor burning down your throat, slowly melting away every piece of your being like some kind of corrosive acid. Your relationship with Reiner felt like playing a chess match, each of you using the most unfair techniques, disguising your pawns as queens. It felt like war and it wasn't fair; and now that you were given another chance, you promised yourself would not waste it. Regardless of the future that lied ahead, from that moment you vowed you would spend however time you had left right by his side.
"I vow I will always be yours, if we survive the Great War."

Someone to Love|Part 7(Finale)|Reiner Braun x Jealous Reader
Tumblr media
(A/N: This was a short little series but I really did enjoy it and I hope you guys did too! We'll see how long this gets, maybe shorter, maybe longer, I'm not sure. But regardless I hope you guys like it and don't feel too sad at the end of everything <3)
WARNINGS: implied nsfw, depression, attempted suicide, violence, general angst, slowburn, lowkey love triangle with a happy ending, not a warning but Reiner calls you nicknames instead of y/n (because I personally can't stand it)
==============================================
She ran, trying to escape the inferno that was threatening to destroy them all. How had Reiner's mission failed that horribly? Where was he now? Alive or dead, taken prisoner or rotting in a ditch somewhere, he was gone.
She wiped tears as the realization hit her, their goodbye would be their last and she'd never see him again. Maybe she should just end it all right here, stop so that the Titans could trample her underfoot and that would be the end of it. She could even join Reiner in the afterlife. They could be happy together.
No. He would want her to live, to make the most of the little time she has left since he would never get the same opportunity to grow old and die peacefully. Reiner had lost his will to live, she couldn't let him down by losing hers either. She had to keep fighting.
So she ran on.
==============================================
His homeland was in ruins, all those Reiner cared about most likely dead and gone. He would never see his mother again, his aunts, uncles, and dearest friend. The one who had stood by his side, and never betrayed him.
Reiner glanced back to Evelyn, tightening her ODM gear so that it fit properly.
Something about her had changed, after sheepishly siding with Levi she seemed to have more resolve, more of a backbone. As if she didn't care what anyone thought about where her loyalties lay. She had used him, and clearly without much remorse.
Reiner deserved it, he had started this mess by kicking down the wall. But still.
The thing was, Evelyn wasn't his problem. If she wasn't willing to help herself then his saviour complex would never get him anywhere but dead in the Ackerman basement. He had given her a way out time and time again, and yet she still ran back to Levi. That wasn't his fault, so why was he putting that on himself? If she wanted to be with him fine, he should move on.
Which was easier than he thought, in these last moments of the world he only thought of his friend. She was kinder to him than anyone, always following him around and hoping to get his attention. His mother had always said that she had a crush on him, but had that changed when he became a huge prick?
She was right, Evelyn did betray him in the end. And Reiner had only yelled at her. He was an asshole and yet he waited until she apologized before saying anything. He should have been the one apologizing, it was his fault. All his fault.
And now she could be dead.
Reiner shook his head, he couldn't let himself think like that. She had to be alive, he just knew it. Her fiery spirit wouldn't allow her to be killed so easily, he knew she'd live on. She was probably waiting for him in Marley right now.
Despite how positive his thoughts, Reiner's stomach still turned as he watched the fires burn.
==============================================
She had managed to find what little safety she could with the remaining Eldian survivors up on that cliff. They all knew with the remaining military cut down their chances would be slim to live. She and the others could only watch in horror as the footsteps came closer and closer.
And then an airship.
The bright flash of light filled her with hope, there was only one man she knew that would be brave enough to stand against the tide to save humanity.
A true warrior.
==============================================
Everything came to Reiner in a blur, the fighting, explosives, Eren's Titan head blown clean off, survivors. His mother, family.
She was there. She was alive.
Reiner stared at her through his Titan form, he couldn't give up. Not when that thing started moving toward those he cared about most. Not when Eren stood up to continue his fight.
This was all for her, he wanted her to be happy.
Damnit, she deserved a happy ending. And he cared about her, with everything that they had been through together he cared about her. She couldn't just die, he wouldn't let her. He had to keep fighting.
===============================================
It was over. Finally this horror was over, they were free. She looked to Reiner laying beside her, slowly waking to the feeling of his fate changed, a fate where he didn't have to die so young as a Titan. They could be free.
But he didn't want her, he had made it clear she was nothing more than a friend. That's all she would ever be to him.
She didn't want him to feel like he had to hang on, that he owed it to her. If he wanted to be happy with this woman then she should respect that and allow him to be with her in this free world. She had to let him go.
==============================================
Reiner was too busy making sure everyone was alive he didn't notice at first when she gave him distance. But when he did the void of her presence was immense and sat like a weight in his gut. He was frantic to find her, but thankfully she hadn't gone far so he was able to catch up to her quickly.
"Hey- kid- wait-"
"You're free now Reiner, you can live your life how you want with the girl that you love."
"What? No, no I don't want a life with Evelyn."
"Why not? You told me that you were in love with her."
"You're right, I did, but she's different, she not who I thought she was deep down. You were right about everything, all of it. She was a traitor, and she didn't have my best intentions in mind. You were right about everything and I should have listened. I'm sorry."
She was slightly stunned to hear him admit so openly that he was wrong, she didn't expect it. "I forgive you-"
"Listen, when I was up there, getting ready to die a warrior's death, I didn't think about Evelyn, or my mom, or anyone else. I thought about you."
Her cheeks heat with a blush. "Me?"
"Yeah, how no matter what happened, I just wanted to see you again. And I don't know if it's a sign but now that I'm free from this curse of a Titan, I want to live life to the fullest, without the hanging threat of death. I'm still so young, I want to really live every moment to it's full potential."
Her eyes well up a little with tears. "You don't know how happy that makes me-"
"And you know what, part of that life is to go out, meets girls, go out with them, and I don't know if it'll be anymore than a one time thing, but I want you to go out with me-"
"Reiner- right now-"
"Well, once the world's somewhat back into place- I'm a big idiot who knows nothing about anything with girls and women but my heart's telling me to go with it, and I want to go with it with you-"
She takes her hand in his.
"Then let's go with it."

a girl is a gun masterlist - reiner x female!oc - 18+!!!
Tumblr media
so this one will likely remain on ao3, but i'll be adding it to my masterlist until i can bring myself to post the whole damn thing here because she's a BIG GIRL. but for any of my reiner lovers......please enjoy this angsty slow-burn. first chapter is pretty tame, but trust me, it gets worse lol
fic warnings: canon typical violence, eventual smut, swearing, a painfully slow burn romance lol, friends to lovers
fic summary: Evin Finley, "Marley's Military Princess", or at least, that what the papers call her, daughter of one of the highest-ranking Marleyan military officers and socialite sweetheart of Liberio, is no stranger to a secret. She may be the perfect young Marleyan woman on the outside, but when her forbidden childhood best friend returns from war, secrets begin bubbling to the surface. Evin's reminded of a double-life she once lived, under the cover of childhood secrecy, and more comes to light than she ever could have imagined.
chapter 1: girlhood rots between my teeth. a sickness so sweet, it aches.
chapter 2: my kind of rebirth tasted like blood.
chapter 3: half daughter, half apology, all fire and the wrong kind of love.
chapter 4: i am the bad daughter, the freedom fighter, the shaper of death masks.
chapter 5: everything i want to say, i swallow.

wee woo wee woo I have done The Impossible and updated tears of titans for the first time since like JUNE or something but I feel I may have the bug back for it again........
on ao3 and wattpad!
Despite feeling like they were going to kill me, I stuffed the photographs beneath my pillow, deciding that I had to keep stealing glances at them, micro-dosing to hopefully build up some sort of immunity. Numbness. If I had reached point where something as simple as a photograph would be the cause of my undoing, I needed to work on it. I'd spent too many years building an armour - literally and figuratively - and I wasn't going to survive letting it slip away.

LEO HOLT SCHOOL CASTES!!!!
He's actually... so terrible in this verse hahahaha. But I think it makes sense, given his friend group!
((As per usual, Logan belongs to ploams_ on IG and was mentioned in this verse with permission '3' ))
I love writing characters that are assholes so Leo's whole thing here is very fun to me. I do kinda want to write a oneshot on this verse now but I have too many other projects ahhhh.
Why do both of my OCs have unrequited loves in this verse???? ((at least Edith's will be returned eventually. Leo is doomed by the narrative to never get Reiner in any verse.))
Anyway, stay toxic Leo <3

From Darkness We Flee
Chapter Six: Silent Companions
Warnings: canon typical violence, canon typical angst
Characters: Zakai Eriko, Eren Yeager, Ymir
Word Count: 1.3k
Zakai had grown to enjoy sparring, it was a comfort. A way to get her thoughts and feelings out without blowing up. Zakai could remember seeing her aunt train all the time, she eventually asked to join. It became a habit back then, something that connected her to someone else. Now it was a form of avoidance. Zakai didn't want to acknowledge that Bertholdt and, especially, Reiner had gotten under her skin and shifted the comfort in the familiar to a level of unease Zakai scarcely felt before. Eren, in particular, was fun to spar with. Eren saw the same urgency in earning freedom as she once had, she saw a genuine desire in his eyes. It wasn't just about revenge, his hope for the future was there too. Zakai enjoyed Eren's presence.
"Geez, you could go easy. You and Annie, I swear." Eren huffed.
Zakai looked down at Eren, offering him a hand and pulling him up. "Yeah. I was lost in thought." Zakai admitted, glancing away. "You get that way too, don't you?"
Eren was quiet for a moment, "Kind of? Never been that good before though. This about that whole deal with Reiner? A week ago?"
Zakai scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Hardly. Jean thought that, too."
The brunette boy offered a weak, half-smile, "Yeah. Whatever you say, I just think its pretty dumb to get caught up with shit like that when we could die once we're soldiers."
The teenager sighed, Eren did have a point. At least, he would've. It was different for her, for Reiner and Bertholdt. Hell, even different for Annie. "You're a hypocrite, Yeager. If I'm dumb then so are you and Pretty Boy." She retorted with another scoff, "Besides, dumb or not… It's Complicated." Zakai admitted, rubbing her hand against the back of her neck.
Eren groaned, "You sound like Mikasa. All her "stop fighting" bullshit."
Zakai chuckled, "Mikasa is a smart girl. Listen to her a little more."
Zakai didn't pay attention to whatever it was Eren had said next. No, she was distracted. Her eyes fell on the two tallest of the Training Corps. It was ironic, wasn't it? The two tallest and they were both massive titans hellbent on the destruction of the Walls. Those grey eyes fell onto the two, Reiner was laughing and joking and being so damn friendly with Jean and Connie. It wasn't much of a surprise, really. Bertholdt was only following Reiner. Again, not surprising. Zakai had spent her time avoiding yet remaining observant of them. Zakai was jostled out of her thoughts by an impatient Eren.
"Did you hear me? Geez, you're so bad about that whole zoning out there today." Eren's tone was lighthearted even as his words betrayed his annoyance.
Zakai looked up at the taller brunette, "Yeah. You're right." Zakai hummed, "It is dumb."
"Gonna talk to him then?" Eren asked.
She shook her head, "All I did was agree that it was dumb. Not that I was smart about that petty shit." Zakai paused, "Go on ahead, I need a few moments to think about that."
Eren seemed almost discouraged, furrowing his brows and sighing. "I'll never get you, Zakai, honestly." With that, Eren made his departure. Zakai blinked slowly, watching him jog up to Reiner, Bertholdt, Jean, and Connie. Zakai didn't blame him for not understanding. After all, a caterpillar can hardly understand a bee. That's what Eren was to her. A caterpillar with so much to learn about this world they shared with one another. In fact, Zakai didn't truly understand him either. What point was freedom if it only hurt to maintain? Zakai was content enough to just exist within the Walls, for the most part. Well, she had been content. Her expression turned sour, narrowing her eyes into a glare as she recalled that day. She had at least gotten early warning, helped to the boats before anything could get to her, then her so-called "mother" ran back into that hell, trying to help as many as she could. Zakai could remember the death, the anguish, the fear. All because of Bertholdt and Reiner.
Zakai shook her head, that didn't matter. It didn't matter what they did, Zakai would survive. No matter what. She had to, she promised her that she'd survive.
Zakai couldn’t help but watch the group. She watched how Reiner pulled Eren close, ruffling his hair with a loud laugh. Zakai remembered exactly what that seemed like. Who that seemed like. Zakai closed her eyes, recalling a face that hurt to remember before shaking her head again. Zakai turned away, dismissing those thoughts, and hurried off. The brunette pushed her hair out of her face for once, her mind was occupied. Those days were painful to think about now, faces that likely paid the price for her own foolishness. Names of family members forever lost to time now. There was nothing anyone could say to convince her otherwise. Zakai had a mission. Zakai made a promise. Zakai could no longer fail.
The brunette cadet ended up near the forest, the same forest that surrounded the training grounds. She stepped past the perimeter, letting a hand softly brush against the bark of a tree as she considered what everything meant. What was Reiner planning? Why was he so different? Most importantly, when did Reiner become the leader and why did she hesitate to beat Bertholdt into the ground awhile back? Zakai could hardly press them for questions as to what happened, they were no doubt here to reclaim her. To steal her away, into a life short as could by the knife of misery. Zakai felt the soft breeze, much better than the dry heat from a few weeks ago when she broke down in these very woods. Zakai pressed her back against the harsh bark of another tree, sliding down with little care as to the scrapes and cuts it no doubt gave her back and simply sat with a small thud. Zakai closed her eyes, letting the sounds of the wooded area drift past. There was always so much stress after having learned that her tormentors were here after all. Zakai couldn’t just run again. Lost in thought, she didn’t hear the footsteps approaching until she felt the bread fall into her lap. Zakai’s eyes shot open, Ymir was standing above her with that trademark smirk.
“You owe me now.” Ymir stated, dropping the canteen in the fellow cadet’s lap, “All I could stand to take without Shadis catching me but it should be more than enough.”
Zakai watched Ymir sit beside her, looking out towards the training grounds while Zakai stared at her lap with a sizable piece of, albeit stale, bread and the canteen of water. Zakai huffed, narrowing her eyes yet didn’t question Ymir’s motives for once. No, instead Zakai merely accepted what Ymir had done and nodded her thanks, taking a chug of the water before starting to eat the dry bread. Somehow, despite everything she thought of Ymir, that was the best meal she had in days. Some stale bread and simple water. Once Zakai was finished, she looked to Ymir who was simply observing the sky.
“... Shadis is going to kick our asses if we both keep acting weak.” Zakai remarked.
“Then stop.” Ymir bluntly stated, “Stop acting and just show your strength.”
Zakai thought for a minute before shaking her head, “I can’t.”
“Me too.” Ymir admired.
Zakai accepted the silence after that, the both of them silent and at peace in that silence. Zakai was sure Ymir was thinking about her own turmoil but she wasn’t entirely certain what that might be. What did Ymir stress and grieve over? Zakai only silently pondered that question without entertaining it enough to actually vocalize her curiosities about the strange, brash soldier that accompanied her this afternoon while everyone else strayed far from Zakai. Zakai didn’t mind her presence for once, simply watching the sky with Ymir during the rare quiet moment. It didn’t need to be full of joking and ribbing one another. No, Zakai could simply exist in this moment even when once it was over, she’d be right back to silently plotting against everyone for her own benefit.

I'll never know If there's danger in confession Or it's memory that presses Like a blade against my throat Another word and I could choke But what's worse?
Tellin' you my feelings Or to die without revealing That you got inside my head And set a fire there instead? Letting all my insecurity Devour me with certainty

Reiner Braun - Wonderland (part 1)
This is the Reiner work I have been talking about recently. I have decided to split it into two parts as it is very long. It follows AOT timeline, so please be mindful of any spoilers ahead. Specifically, this first part contains spoilers from season 1-3 (ish). The segments and different timezones of the story are divided by quotes from different Taylor Swift songs, which were vital for the formation of this idea. More specifically, the song that served as the backbone for this first part of the story was Wonderland, from the 1989 album (I wish there was a Taylor's version for it, but we'll have to wait I guess.)
gn! reader.
usual AOT violence.
1.8 K words.
Enjoy this, and let me know what you think!

Didn’t it all feel new and exciting?
Standing in formation with the rest of the cadets was the only thing that made sense. New soldiers were needed to confront the menace that 5 years before had changed your lives forever - you didn’t want any more kids to witness the horrors of the titans invading their cities, devouring their dearest people.
The training had been intensive; every day for the past three years you had to battle against hunger, degradation, physical challenges that pushed your body over limits you didn’t know humans were capable of reaching. A lot of fellow comrades had left, unable to bear the overwhelming difficulty of the course; it was difficult to find a reason to live after your whole life had been erased right in front of your eyes - it was hard to find a reason to fight, now that there was no one to protect.
Those thoughts were popular even among the most motivated cadets - even Eren had his bad days, in which all it seemed pointless. Holding your closed fist to your chest while swearing fidelity to the Survey Corps, flashbacks of the training days came back to you in a blur - and you couldn’t help but be grateful for the friends you made along the way. If it hadn’t been for them, lord knows what would have happened to you. The image of Marco’s body was still vivid in your mind, and despite all the sorrow that his death had caused among your group, you couldn’t help but be grateful that it wasn’t you - you were safe for now, and so were the people you loved the most.
“It’s scary to think we’ll be going back there in less then a week.”
Reiner spoke, catching the attention of all his comrades, shutting down all the nonsense chatting.
“I’m sure we’ll be fine.” Jean replied, his lips curving into a weak smile.
Everyone nodded in agreement, trying to move away from Reiner’s statement and cheering up the mood among the dining table you were all seated at. Marco’s death was not yet fully accepted - it had been a week since Jean had to identify him and then watch the fire take away what was left of his dear friend. All of you were still mourning his passing.
A loud sigh escaped Reiner’s lips - despite his reassuring demeanour, he was just as scared, just as emotionally drained; he was just better at hiding it. Being a soldier meant being ready to face the same horrors all over again, watching the people you grew up with die in the most horrible, inhumane way. Stretching your arm under the table, you were quick to find his hand, letting your fingers interlock with his, giving his hand a feeble squeeze. You wanted to remind him how you could see right through him, how you could understand his turmoil because you had been through so much just like him, but at least you still had each other.
Life had not find a way to separate the two of you just yet, always looking out for each other during missions, risking your lives to protect the other. It had always been like that between the two of you, even during your training days. If you were punished, Reiner would go out of his way to be punished with you - he didn’t want to leave you alone, he didn’t want you to be anywhere but next to him, even if that meant running until his legs gave out.
A pink blush coloured Reiner’s cheeks, who was quick to hold your hand tighter in his grip, gifting you the softest smile you had ever seen. Of course, that did not go unnoticed by your annoying friends, who were quick to make you and Reiner the topic of the conversation and embarrass both of you, making everyone else laugh at how ridiculously cute your relationship was. The love story going on between you and Reiner wasn’t new to anyone; you had been hanging around each other since the very first start of your training course, and never parted ways ever since. Reiner was your first love, your first kiss - the first person you were able to love again until losing your whole family; and you would have done anything for him. The only person who really knew about this was Mikasa - you had confessed everything to her, knowing that she would be the only person able to understand exactly how you felt.
“Cut it out.” Mikasa finally spoke, elbowing Connie.
“Hey!” Connie was quick to reply. “It was just a compliment.”
Too in love to think straight, all alone or so it seemed.. but there were strangers watching, and whispers turned to talking, and talking turned to screams.
After having captured the Female Titan, the hypotheses about the Colossal and Armoured Titans became stronger, central to the plan of the next Survey Corps mission.
“It can’t be.”
Was all you managed to say after Hanji finally exposed their theory, suspicions pointing out directly towards your lover and his friend.
“We can’t rule it out. But we need to gather more information so please, please -“
Hanji begged, leaving you speechless for a second. How could they ever suspect of Reiner, wasn’t he decisive in every mission you have had? Questions began to crowd your mind whilst the rest of your squad silently looked at you, waiting for an answer. They wanted you to investigate, to discover more about Reiner’s past and true identity, as if you didn’t share countless nights with him - as if he was the one responsible for your family’s death. A fleeble nod was the only response you were able to give, trying your best to remain lucid. All you had to do was prove your boyfriend’s innocence, how hard could it be?
Doubts started insinuating in your mind when Reiner started avoiding you, spending more time with Bertholtd. They were always close friends so even if their closure seemed legit at first, what seemed suspicious was how incredible talkative Bertholtd had become; the shy, introverse guy was now replaced by a more confident figure, who exerted so much more influence on Reiner than you could ever imagine.
“Are you a soldier, or a warrior? Where does your loyalty lay?!”
I felt your arms twisting around me; I should have slept with one eye open at night.
Forcing yourself to keep quiet, you were quick to bring your hands to your mouth in an attempt to suppress your sobs. Pressing your back against the wall, trying to hear more from the conversation Reiner and Bertholdt were having, you forced yourself to resist a little more. Tears started running down your face as Bertholdt described Marco’s incident, praising how well they had handled the situation before their cover up got screwed. Mumbles were coming out Reiner’s mouth, inaudible to hear from behind a close door - but enough to make you realise the truth.
“That doesn’t mean he is one of the titans..” you whispered, after reporting everything you heard to Hanji. Your voice echoed in Erwin's office, whilst the brightest minds of the survey corps put all their pieces together.
“Go back to your team and tell them the plan; you did good.” Levi answered, resting his hand on your shoulder.
As if a little bolt inside your had just broken, you were unable to function properly. Your movements became mechanical, moving around like a puppet who mindlessly followed the orders of its superiors. There was a lot you still weren’t able to process - having to overhear your boyfriend’s conversations, trying to accept the idea he was responsible for the complete destruction of your life, getting your head around how he could stomp on the corpses of your fellow citizens one day and make you fall in love with him the other, how could he cry in front of the ashes of your comrades - who lost their lives because of what he did.
“What’s wrong?”
Reiner asked, wrapping his arms around your waist and engulfing you in his arms, letting your back rest against his broad chest. He had no idea about what you knew, and as if you already didn’t go through enough, Hanji asked you to act as if you were oblivious to everything you just discovered.
“Just tired.”
Reiner hummed in response, kissing the crown of your head and holding you tighter. He tried to savour this moments as long as he could; a part of him wished you could follow him back to Marley, but he knew better. He knew where your loyalty lied, he knew just how much you would have hated him once you discovered the truth - and he hated himself too.
And in the end, in wonderland, we both went mad.
“I’m sorry.” Reiner whispered, his eyes full of tears. “I love you.”
These were the last words Reiner said to you before pushing you down the wall, your body precipitating down the Wall Maria as you watched him transform into the Armoured Titan.
The bolt of yellow lightning coloured the whole sky in front of you, blinding you as your body continued its fall. Every inch of you had hoped you were wrong, you prayed for it to be all just a bad dream until the very last moment; you had faith.
When Jean wrapped his arms around you, carrying your body over his shoulder while moving along the wall, you were finally brought back to reality.
"Are you okay?!" he shouted, trying his best to move away from the battlefield.
You remained silent, watching Eren fighting the Armoured Titan. Squinting your eyes a little bit, your gaze meticulously scanned the titan’s features - his eyes, his hair, the little hump in his nose that was oh, so familiar. How could you be so blind? How could you not recognise the face of the man you loved?
Jean was quick to bring you to the top of the Wall Maria, letting your body sit on one of the wooden benches they prepared. Resting his hands on your shoulders, Jean vigorously shook your body trying to bring you back to your senses. Absent-minded, the only thing you managed to do was staring at the floor in front of you, trying to process everything you just witnessed. Reiner’s titan screams filled the air, piercing your ears like a drill making its way to your brain. Bringing your hand on your ODM gear, finally coming to your senses again, you tried your best to not run to him. Every muscle of your body was screaming you to move, to run towards the man you loved and save his life as you always did. But you remained still, fighting against every single one of your instincts.
“Are you okay?”
Jean asked again, this time in a softer tone. He kneeled before you, his pupils moving rapidly as he worriedly stared at you. You were in the middle of a battle ground and you weren’t responding, you were alive but not living at all. A simple nod was the only response you managed to give him, before getting up and walking towards your commanders. This was your fight more than anyone else’s; the Survey Corps needed a plan, and there was no one who knew Reiner better than you.

Someone To Love|Part 5|Reiner x Jealous Reader
Tumblr media
(A/N: This series is only going to be a short little series with short chapters because it's fun, but I hope you guys like it. Just a wholesome break from the angst. Enjoy and comment to be added to the taglist!)
WARNINGS: implied nsfw, depression, attempted suicide, violence, general angst, slowburn, lowkey love triangle with a happy ending, not a warning but Reiner calls you nicknames instead of y/n (because I personally can't stand it)
=============================================
He was the nation's shield, and he failed. The whole city flattened, countless dead, all because he couldn't step up and defend them. He was supposed to be a warrior and right now he was little more than a shaking boy who would never amount to anything.
Evelyn was gone, he watched Levi take her back to that hell on earth she called a home. It was his fault. Reiner swore to keep her safe from his abuse but in the end her greatest fear of being forced back into that life came true.
He was a coward.
Who knew what would happen once Levi had his hands on her. Anger could overpower him and Evelyn could end up dead in a ditch somewhere.
He hadn't saved anyone. A failure.
No. He wouldn't let those Island Devils win. After all the pain and suffering they had caused for the last two thousand years they couldn't be allowed to remain freely roaming. They were a disgrace.
He had to end it. The Armoured Titan. One way or another he would see it done.
================================================
Her home was gone, friends crushed to bloody heaps from the destruction. And now her best friend was in a state of self-loathing over his role in it. The carnage led to a reconciliation of both sides apologizing for their overreaction, hoping to move on and continue being friends. She was happy Reiner was alive, over-joyed that this newcomer Evelyn was gone, but in its place was the man she loved retreating into his shell even more.
She feared he would never come out.
All her attempts and getting him to think about something else or to hear out his suffering rendered useless. Reiner was determined to do one thing and that was to take revenge on those who had destroyed his country and taken his love.
How it hurt to hear him refer to Evelyn as his love.
However she was resigned to let him run his course and inevitably fall. She couldn't keep controlling him like this, she cared about him too much for that. If he was really and truly meant to be with this other woman then she would accept it as much as it hurt.
Everything would be okay with time.
==============================================
Reiner was not joking as she had hoped. Within a month of the initial raid what forces Marley had left prepared for their final mission of invading their enemies across the sea.
He believed he would rescue Evelyn and return her safely to Marley, and she didn't have the heart to tell him again that either she was in on the conspiracy or she was already dead. They had fought once, she didn't want to push him away further.
"Do you have to go?" She had asked.
"Yes. I'm a Warrior, I swore to protect our people at all costs. And that means when they need me to shield the world, I'll be there. Even if it costs me everything."
She was silent for a moment, staring at her shoes.
"Please come back."
He smiled and ruffles her hair just like they did as kids.
"I always will kid."
