a/n: omg!! im sooo sorry for not posting, these last few weeks have been so hectic for me, even though its fall break ive been swamped. im going to write a few fics to hold down for a few days but after i might go ia due to school starting up again ! also! i will try my hardest to get to requests. reblogs and likes appreciated.

Ryan was eager to learn. He'd always been, but right now he was neck-deep in nursing school, and he was allowed to shadow a more experienced nurse.

She introduced herself as Wendy Miller, though her name tag suggested a different first name, but she told Ryan she'd throw him out with the trash if he used it, sooo Wendy it was.

Wendy was a temp nurse, called in from a different hospital to provide an extra set of hands while the clinic was swamped with patients and operating at only half capacity after an attack. And Ryan helped Wendy however he could, hoping to learn from her without getting in her way.

Until he learned a little too much, and saw something he was never supposed to see...

When he regained consciousness, Ryan honestly first thought he just had a terrible hangover. But then he heard the familiar rhythmic beep of hospital equipment, and he remembered he hadn't even been out drinking at all — never mind him technically being too young to even be allowed to drink.

He blinked his eyes open, trying to adjust to the bright lights in the room. Why was he in a bed, and not standing next to it? Gently reassuring the patient for whatever scary procedure they were facing?

He tried to sit up, but that just made the room spin, as well as his stomach. He quickly dropped his head back onto his pillow, coughing as he nearly choked on the bile he desperately swallowed down.

Help. He needed help.

He blindly groped for the button to call a nurse, when the door already opened and a woman in pink scrubs walked in. The pink really stuck out to Ryan. It wasn't uncommon for staff to wear whatever colour of personal scrubs they liked, since the clinic had no rules against doing so. No, the pink stuck out because it jogged Ryan's memory.

"W-Wendy...."

He frowned at how weak and muted his voice sounded, reaching for his face, only to smack his hand against the oxygen mask that covered his mouth and nose. He pulled it away, barely having the strength to fight the resistance from the elastic band that was supposed to hold it in place.

"W-Wendy..."

"Oh." the nurse just replied, "Not only are you awake, you also remember me."

Why doesn't that sound reassuring?

She gently grabbed a hold of his wrist and pulled the mask from his hand and put it back on his face, not letting go just yet. In fact, her grip tightened, painfully so. Ryan's breath fogged up the mask as it picked up, and one of the machines let out a gentle beep as his heart-rate suddenly spiked.

"That dose was supposed to kill you before anyone would find you." Wendy hissed, "But unfortunately someone walked in on us, so I had to resuscitate you. Not to worry, though. I brought an extra dose~"

She finally let go of him, stepping back so she could pull a syringe from her pocket. Ryan weakly shook his head, groping around for the help button again, but it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Meanwhile Wendy casually checked the IV bags that Ryan hadn't even noticed before, before injecting whatever was in that syringe into the valve where all the tubes connected and ran straight into his arm.

Ryan reached over to disconnect the tube from the cannula, but Wendy grabbed his wrist again, trying to pin him down.

"Not so fast!" she said, "Just give in and maybe you'll die before it starts hurting."

"N-no..."

Ryan couldn't believe what was happening, yet at the same time he vividly remembered the struggle they had previously. The substance she forced him to ingest. He never did find out what it was exactly, but he had a very strong hunch now.

Something lethal.

And now she'd given him more of it. Even if he did manage to disconnect the cannula, it was probably already too late. And yet, when the door suddenly opened, Wendy suddenly changed strategies and tore it out herself.

"Ow—"

"Oh! Dr Slade, thank goodness!" Wendy exclaimed, "H-he tore out his cannula, he's beside himself!"

"W-what? N-no! D-doctor!"

"It's arite, Ryan," Dr Slade gently said, "you're safe. I'll explain what's going on, but I need you to calm down, for me. You've had a cardiac episode and I'd rather not agitate the organ until we get the test results back. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Ryan looked at the doctor in disbelieve. Did he...did he not know? Did he not see the warning glare on Wendy's face as she continued to hold him down?

"H-help me..." he wheezed desperately. "G-get her off. S-she...she did this. S-she...W-Wendy.....D-drugs..."

"See?" Wendy simply replied, faking a worried expression as she looked back at Slade, "Completely off his rocker."

She turned back to Ryan, her worried look changing back to that warning glare.

"Look at me, honey." she said, "You're not making any sense, dear. Just stop talking and breathe with me, okay?"

Ryan shook his head, each breath becoming an increasing struggle, just before some of the equipment started beeping in alarm.

"Oxygen sats just plummeted, doctor!" Wendy reported.

"Put him down, let me check his airway," Dr Slade said, moving the bed forward a bit so he could fit behind it, while Wendy finally let go of Ryan to lower the back of the bed until he was lying flat on his back.

Ryan tried to use this opportunity to pull his oxygen mask away, but Wendy stopped him as she returned to take his pillow away. Then Slade appeared above him, removing the mask entirely. Ryan knew what could happen next. He knew he could pass out, and he knew if he couldn't breathe properly they would shove a tube down his throat next. So this was his last chance.

"W....Wendy...." he choked out.

"Wendy's right here, lad. We'll take good care of you," Slade gently said.

No! She caused this!

But the sound he managed to produce didn't even sound like any existing word, and the brief flash of shock on Dr Slade's face was the last thing Ryan saw before his eyes rolled back as he lost consciousness.

And the last thing he heard?

Fucking Wendy.

"I-is he going to be alright, doctor?"

the goal of the fic is real and raw! it’s an unusual setting (maybe not for me considering this is my second racing centric fic) but everything that happens is a product of the environment! the wins from his own team left scar feeling bitter at times, but watching grian win had him so proud he knew he’d get in trouble w his own team if he showed it lol. it’s all about where they are and it makes me sooo happy (like you would not believe) when people who aren’t f1/sports fan still enjoy the fic!

last ch was a lot and contained a lot of really vital stuff that i couldn’t wait to see the reactions of. grian finally opening up is so important to me and scar letting it happen in its own time is a huge part of why grian begins letting him in, which is evidently not something he’s used to at all. mans has been through it in this universe

as for the questions: i don’t have an upload schedule but i try to churn out the chs when i have time. it fits that valentine’s was right before midterms season for me so i got to get something out before i get swamped by all that 🥲 i don’t like to let a full month go by without posting but we’ll see how my semester keeps going lol

and i’ve been thinking of content once i’ve finished starboy. i’ve had ideas of grian’s pov hitting all the major plot points or even a jimmy spin-off one shot but nothing is planned for now. definitely floating around in my mind

mumscarian is not the endgame but the mystery behind grian and mumbo will be revealed! grian is mysterious and mumbo being mumbo goes along w it, but it does come full circle eventually!

i didn’t even realize there’s already only 5 chs left! that’s crazy, considering how much of the story i have left!

birding has been such a rewarding hobby but its also kind of insane. keep going places i didnt even realize i could go to bc i get a glimpse of a bird nearby. didnt even realize theres a swamp right next to the intersection of the highway and the big commercial road where i like. ran across the highway entrance (its a small highway at least) bc i saw a fun colored bird of prey on a telephone poll while dropping my gf off at work. heard a weird bird ive never heard before in the process but could not see it at all with my shitty goodwill binoculars bc its supposedly tiny and gray and was all the way across the swamp. got my socks sooo soggy seeing other stuff walking carefully around the accessible perimeter though

not to give unsolicited advice but if you can, get them to do fun things with their characters!! that’s the best part imo. get them to make pinterest boards and playlists and ask them silly questions each rehearsal like “if your character was a subject in school what would they be??”. things like that are what helped develop my love for characters i didn’t particularly love at first read, so maybe that can help them?? i’m not sure ahhh but im sure they’ll respect you regardless lover

honestly i just like digging into the side of a wall and making a little house in there and i think it comes from years ago when i was on a mo creatures server. you know how sometimes these little.. crevices in the ground that will just be a tiny little underwater cave that doesnt go anywhere, its just a circle - i found one of those on this mo creatures server, drained all the water out and with the help of this random player i made a whole zoo that multiple underground layers. it was sooo good i spent so much time on it and ive been chasing that high for years now LOL, also i mentioned this but i dont like killing animals or having mobs on lmao, i dont like killing animals cuz it makes me feel Mean when i can just mow grass and get seeds so easy and mobs stress me out lawl

Hii, yes solo leveling is sooo good. I speed read it on the first day of uni classes and I crashed and burned that day but it was worth it loll. Honestly, everyday I just log on to see if it’s updating. I’ve already read translations but the art is so pretty. Especially right now where he goes back to the double gate. I’m hyped af. I don’t want to say too much since I don’t know how far you’re in but I’m vv excited. 

Ahh same. School has been breaking my back too and I’m so burnt out from taking notes. I type two words and I’m ready to take a break. Ahh, timeskip hq characters glowed up so much. Sakusa is a major hit to my heart. I also love the fact Osamu buys his rice from Kita that was so cute. 

Unpopular opinion but I actually don’t really care for Karasuno. I love them 100% but I prefer other teams. I mean, I like everyone in Karasuno cause they have screen time but other team’s I have at least 2 or 3 people that I really really like. But they are the main character’s and it kills me inside when I see Nekoma and Inarizaki loose but it’s okay. 

My phone never has any storage so I can never take too many pictures aha. Gacha apps have my phone strangled. FGO and BSD hahh. Too much gacha plus I have gbf and genshin. No time ;u;

it's alright!! it's a busy and sad time for a lot of us so i can understand that ;; my week has been fine for the most part, other than getting mad at mnet yesterday and stuff like that sjfhdhd

anyways i have so many biases besides dongpyo as well but we'll start with him!

dongpyo - hes...the best boy. i was introduced to him via a friend before produce started airing so i've always had an eye on him. he's talented first of all, but getting to know him and his passion and struggle made me get attached really quickly. the center boys always get so much hate so i wanted to protect and support him :( regardless i love the crafty ones and dongpyo is such a strategist and he knows what his appeals are! i know it's been hard for him but he's still unafraid to be himself and i love that for him. he's part of dance line for a reason AND his vocals are super underrated. his part in i'm here for you always catches me off guard cos he sounds so powerful! he's so charming on stage he makes like always his bitch,, i love him for how strong he is

eunsang - i actually never paid much attention to eunsang during pdx but he rose up my bias list sooo quickly just because hes...such a charming and talented boy! he looks really handsome first of all like his visuals are on Point and his voice is the type i like! soft and not like...main vocal high note belting kinda powerful but still pleasing to listen to (sorta like daehwi in wanna one). he's also so funny like sjfjd i didn't expect him to be such a bully but he is and i love him for that. he's also the only one who knew the choreo to light so he appealed to my wnb heart x

seungwoo - not to be small brain on this answer but seungwoo sexy kdgfngjd but honestly i only started paying attention to him during pdx because of dongpyo so ofc i just love how much of a clingy baby he is to dongpyo 😭 i also tend to stan the all rounder types so the moment i found out he rapped too it was k.o for me.

seungyoun - i didn't have him in my top 11 till the last ep but ive always liked him!! it was only until after pdx that i really started stanning but now i just really love him and his talent...his songs...his persevrance cos lbr most of us would've long since given up on chasing our dreams if we went through as much as he did :( he's such a loving hyung who makes everyone feel comfortable and loved and i'm so glad he made it into the group because he supports seungwoo really well as like a sub leader of sorts! (wooseok too but thats another story)

minhee - i actually had a very neutral opinion on him during pdx mostly because i didn't notice him at all until pretty girl skfjdj but his voice is so pretty his face is so pretty his dance is so pretty his smile so is pretty wow hes so pretty... but honestly his president persona is so funny like how is he 16 at his debut stage at gocheok skydome of all places and hes acting like its his 20th concert there??? he's such a character and i love the way he plays with the other members

Sooo hey! I’ve been pretty good! kinda swamped with important college stuff and some commissions but managing! after my sophmore review I should be back to posting again (if not sooner!!) As for how I came up with haku.... When I first created the blog, I didn’t really have this sort of character in mind. I really let it evolve as I continued to answer. I think before the beach event last year I had decided she was going to be a scrapped model and was just trying find subtle ways to introduce that on the blog! I guess you could say I’m fascinated with how androids/robots for vocaloids would work, so since haku is a voyakloid, a failed vocaloid really, I wanted to play around with that idea a bit ^^ I drew a lot of inspiration from my fascination with like scars and just how you get them and just to make the character my own. Im also v weak for heterochromia XD @askatiredkomachi  & anon i hope you like her! I have a lot of fun writing for my timid lil haku... i love her so much I made a phone case with her on it ;o;

~Did he ever think to bring a jacket? Of course not. His mother wouldn’t let him wear a jacket during the summer anyway, he might over heat or something.

~So little Eddie is shivering one day in the barrens and Mike notices and just lays his jackets over his shoulders. Eddie is very embarrassed but is too cold not to take it off so he curls up in it.

~He is being swallowed by the jacket. The Losers think it’s too adorable.

~So whenever Eddie looks even slightly chilled, they all offer you their jackets. And Eddie is living for it.

~When the cold seasons start, Stan knits everyone sweaters. He makes sure Eddie’s will keep him really warm and the pattern isn’t scrictly seasonal so Eddie can wear it anytime of the year.

~Once, when it was super cold. Eddie was bouncing and trying to get warmer, Richie unzipped his jacket and gestured for Eddie to come over.

~Eddie hugged him around the waist and he wrapped his jacket around him too, and rubbed his arms to generate heat.

~In the fall, Bill just layers Eddie in his plaid and flannel cause that’s all that boy wears, honestly.

~Bens jackets are sooo soft, Eddie could just die and go to heaven.

~If you think Eddie wouldn’t take Beverly’s jackets, you’re wrong. Sometimes you can find him wrapped up in her jackets.

~He even steals Richie’s brightly colored windbreakers (when he’s desperate).

Fic title "a face in the crowd"

First off, anon, I’m terribly sorry for how late this is. I can’t even pinpoint when I got this - this has been sitting in my inbox since before I came up with Silent Measures. Which means months. But I’m trying to clear my inbox so here’s something I came up with on the spot.

A Face in the Crowd

Summary: During the Clone Wars, the Jedi were lauded as heroes, but so out of reach of the masses that they seemed at times to be toy soldiers selling war bonds more than actual walking beings. But there were four Republic Days that fell within the Clone Wars, and in each one of them, if you look carefully enough, there are things to be seen that are special. A child watches, is inspired, and remembers, twenty years after.

Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Aayla Secura, Plo Koon, (and many clones, though only in passing)

(note: this is after Ahsoka leaves, so she isn’t here)

Little Meron Junshi is not sure whether he likes this Republic Day parade.

It technically hasn’t started yet, but the heat is stifling here in the masses milling behind the railings along the Senate boulevard. His father has put him on his shoulders, and the air is a little clearer up here, but Meron would much rather they be back home on Alderaan, where the air is sweeter and the skies much, much bluer.

And less loud. There are many interesting species around him that he has not seen before, but Meron finds the noise rather distracting. And the boulevard before them is still empty, except for the red-and-white armoured clone troopers that stand guard at equal intervals along the railings themselves.

But he will behave, because he his a big boy of eight and his father is here to do important business with Senator Organa, and Meron is only here because he pleaded and pleaded until his parents said yes.

And then suddenly, there is thud of a plasma cannon from high above, so deep and low that Meron feels it shudder through his frame and down to his father’s wide shoulders; and the guarding troopers snap to attention with a muted thud of armoured boots against duracrete.

This first thud echoes across the suddenly silent masses; and in the distance, under the Senate Building itself, comes an answering drumbeat.

Then another. And another.

And then a steady tramp-tramp-tramp comes filtering down the boulevard, and before Meron can do anything but sit up straighter on his father’s shoulders, the first company of clone troopers come into view.

The Coruscant Guard is first, led by a proud-shouldered trooper with a helmet visored in grey and painted in red, the etched plaques on his armour marking him as a commander.

Meron gapes as row after row of red-white troopers follow, posture ramrod-straight, each holding a blaster at parade ready. The cadence of their steps are so well-matched that if Meron were to close his eyes, he could imagine a singe titan was thundering down the boulevard, and not nearly a hundred and fifty men of one company.

The crowd around them is shrieking with excitement.

A company of soldiers, each with stylised wolf-head painted  on their grey-lined white armour, and striding confidently at their head, a Kel Dor Jedi with russet robes flowing jauntily in the wind.

Plo! The crowd is screaming. Plo Koon!

The Wolfpack! Meron stares, wide-eyed, so engrossed in the clean lines of General Plo’s wolves that he nearly misses the ground-shaking thud that follows.

Five paces after the last grey-painted trooper comes twin files of eight AT-TEs, six-limbed bodies creaking with every solid stamp of durasteel legs. And marching between, standing on, and holding to the side of these giant assault walkers are many yellow-striped troopers. Most strikingly, somehow balanced perfectly on a walker placed centrally between the two main lines, is a blue-skinned Twi’lek woman with a smile on her face and a lightsaber at her hip.

SECURA! The masses yell, in a hundred thousand different sentient voices. SECURA!

She stands tall, but her smile widens.

Company after company come, whole battalions and legions painted every colour of the galaxy, each with a Jedi marching before them, or sometimes two, with the younger marching alongside a clone captain.

Meron watches, dumbstruck, as hero after hero steps off the war-reels and into reality, like toy soldiers ripped from the holonet and placed within reach.

But then a roar of pure sound sweeps through the masses like an oncoming wave, and Meron is nearly unseated from his father’s shoulders.

The troopers coming into view now are painted with bold gold stripes.

And at their head, stepping with a calmly fluid gait-

-is a Jedi with red-gold hair and cream robes, and eyes the colour of a silent sea above a beard trimmed to immaculate neatness.

Meron forgets to breathe.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Negotiator.

The multitude raves. There is no collective chant, now, not like before; overlapping screams of KENOBI and NEGOTIATOR and OBI-WAN rise in an increasing cacophony of unleashed madness.

Throughout all this, Meron only watches the Negotiator.

General Kenobi steps in time with his men, but something in the smooth effortlessness of his pace and the gravity of the tabards over his shoulders speaks of a noble sadness, mixed with extraordinary determination.

Sadness, in the middle of the greatest parade of the year?

Meron lowers he hand he was using to wave, and frowns. He is struck with the sudden impression that General Kenobi would look much the same leading his men into battle.

But then there is a blare of trumpets, and Meron nearly gives himself whiplash as he jerks his head to look.

These new troopers are painted blue.

The crowd is shouting in synchrony, now.

SKYWALKER! SKYWALKER! SKYWALKER!

The Hero With No Fear himself is stood next to Chancellor Palpatine, on a slow-moving barge surrounded on all sides by a sea of blue-and-white armour. His smile is rakish, his waving casual, and the scar that curves around the edge of one eye effortlessly cool.

Meron stares at Anakin Skywalker, and wonders if he imagines that those ice-blue eyes flicker towards him, if just for a moment.

Meron does not waste it. He straightens up so abruptly that his father grunts in surprise, but he does not pause to think about it - instead, he nearly slaps himself in the forehead as he salutes.

He is halfway through the motion already before he realises General Skywalker is looking at him.

Krayt spit! Meron tells himself, knowing his father would give him a good scolding if he heard the words out loud - I probably look stupid!

But what is done is done. The edge of his right hand is pressed to his forehead.

The General watches him for a moment - it cannot be more than half a second, but it seems the longest moment in Meron’s short life - and then suddenly, General Skywalker raises two fingers to his forehead and flicks them to the side in a jaunty salute.

In return to his.

Meron’s brain smashes into a wall of disbelief and disintegrates into awed smithereens.

It is only after the barge has passed by, and the next company is marching past that Meron remembers that he should drop his hand. He lets it fall by his side, numb.

He barely registers the rest of the parade.

He is grinning so widely his cheeks ache.

“Father,” Meron says, later, when a squadron of LAAT/is have flown overhead and the crowd is beginning to disperse, “I’d like to join the Alderaani guard.”

“Oh? And why is that?” his father says distractedly, holding one of Meron’s ankles to stop him from sliding off.

“I want to be a General,” Meron says.

There is a long pause. Meron’s father slows his pace, and stops.

“War isn’t as fun as you think, Meron.” His father’s voice sounds different.

“Oh.”

“Talk to me when you’re eighteen. We’ll see then.”

“Okay!” Meron chirps happily, as his father carries him across the sea of Coruscanti crowds, and away from the Senate boulevard, its white duracrete surface stamped grey with the feet of two hundred thousand men.

Twenty years later, clutching a blaster and kneeling in a white-walled corridor swamped with shadow, Meron Junshi thinks of that long-ago Republic Day. Of the sun and the chants and the bright-painted soldiers with their Jedi Generals.

He had gone to his father when he was eighteen, and he had gotten his wish.

The Alderaani guard had led to a permanent place in the Rebellion, and the Rebellion…here.

Behind him is a short passageway, and beyond that, the Tantive IV, with a precious person aboard. In front of him is a darkened corridor, which lies silent and still beyond the echoing howl of the klaxons.

And then Meron becomes aware of another noise.

A sawing, unnatural breathing, like air rasped through a grille of harsh desert sand.

And the passageway is lit with a bar of crimson plasma.

“Open fire!”

Oh, Meron thinks, as his finger tightens on the trigger and plasma spews uselessly out of the barrel of his blaster. You were right, father.

War is not a parade, with sun in your eyes and bright-painted soldiers and their much-loved generals marching before them; war is red-painted white walls, and flashing bolts, and screaming, and the never-quickening and never-slowing breaths of a shadow that reaches for you, and grasps you with invisible hands, and sends a screaming blade of blood-red light slashing towards your chest.

“Take it! Take it!”

And Meron knows that perhaps there is a little truth in what his eight-year-old self thought about war: War is nothing without hope.

Hope, to a boy watching a war parade on his father’s shoulders, is to receive an acknowledgement from the General he loved so much as a hero.

Meron stares into those hard black lenses, and holds this image in his mind as he dies.

He has no time, before the end, to wonder if he imagined Darth Vader flinch.

Basically, Abramovic lay out a bunch of props and allowed museum goers to manipulate her body, with or without the props, for six hours. Yoko Ono did a reinterpretation of the idea, but allowed the audience to take turns snipping pieces of cloth from her clothes.MarleenaI think it'd be really interesting to take these ideas and spin them in a more positive and constructive way. Turn the video into a time lapse. Hang the sheet of cellophane in front of a projector. Play the video on the projector, align the pictures of the crying person. However, also good to draw after so having say 1-2 minutes of straight talking about imagining different things and then 1-2 mins after to drawMarleenai listened to the audio and i think the words u added helped out the script a lot ruve  enhanced it moreso i just tested out the audio and i definitely agree, the way it is designed now is best suited to having the drawing/creating component after the audioi think if we want to create a more "immersive" and ASMR-like experience, keep the drawing and audio separateMarleenai really enjoyed the music of the audio, i think it fits the tone of the piece well  my only thoughts are to add longer pauses between certain lines (like the one which says "i'll give u a minute" - this will help with immersion and give the audience space to think) and also refining the script more (tho i think it's pretty alright now)Marleenaother than that, only the final details are left. for the drawing/creating component, we can hand out A4 pieces of paper and any other materials to let people use (im sure the class will have stuff they can use to draw lmao) and for the audio part, i was thinking of just tearing up old rags and such for blindfolds  we could probably also get bedsheets to block out the window light as well, if u guys wanted ImmiI agree with the audience closing their eyes but it might be enough for them to just close their eyes?
