This morning started off with donuts for breakfast and a bike ride with Alyssa around Ben’s neighborhood and a neighborhood across the road. Next, she and I took a walk around the Indiana University campus.

Palestine flag sky banner flying over Bloomington just in time for IU graduation. I think this is a local company, since they sometimes tow ads for businesses.

When will all this gun violence end??
IU was my college. And Bloomington is a special place for me.
I can't imagine how scared the students and faculty were. And I'm so relieved that no one was hurt. Thank the gods for that!

TW: discussion of transphobic bullying, attempted suicide.
Pretty fucking ironic that a university known for its school of medicine and its statewide healthcare system doesn't seem to actually give a damn about the health and safety of its most vulnerable students.
Remind me, how many years in a row has this campus earned a 5-star rating from the Campus Pride Index?

Warning: police brutality
At Emory University in Georgia, police violently arrested a number of faculty protestors, including an economics professor and the chair of the philosophy departmen (Media 4 and 5), and they tased an on-site media (Media 8). They shot rubber bullets and tear gas (Media 6 and 7).
It should be noted that these tactics of repression and violence are exchanged between US police departments and the IOF in occupied Palestine, with at least 69 cop cities having been built since 2020 to teach IOF tactics, using IOF trainers.
Students are undeterred, having set up a number of new liberated zones and refusing to back down (FIT, IU-Bloomington, UCLA, UT Arlington, Cornell, UH, UPenn, PSU, Stanford, and more) bringing the number of ongoing encampments to at least 50.

Rachel told Joe that there were three Computer Science majors in her hall floor. We know about her and Amber, but who's the third?
We know Sarah is ambiguously pre law, Joyce is Elementary Education, Dina is some sort of paleontology, Billie and Dorothy are in journalism, Carla is in engineering, Mary is art, Ruth is an English major and Malaya didn't live there yet. As far as I can tell that leaves Other Rachel, Roz, Sierra, Grace, Agatha and Mandy. Is it one of them or some unseen character?
if we're pretending that there's an "engineering" degree at our fictional IU Bloomington that isn't really just a subsection under the computer science school umbrella that Carla is majoring in (whoops), then I'm pretty sure the third person is Other Rachel.
honestly, looking at the available majors, amber should really be getting a BS in Media Arts and Science, aka MAKING DA VIDYA GAMES, but her courseload at this point in her schooling would probably be pretty identical to a plain-ass computer science major anyway.

PSA to Indiana people:
Primary elections are this Tuesday!
As I'm sure you're aware, the presidential ballot doesn't matter much, but the governor will be elected based on whoever wins the Republican primary this week.
Here's a quick summary of the Republican ballot:
Mike Braun is leading the current polls - the same senator who wants to outlaw interracial marriage.
Suzanne Crouch, the current lieutenant governor, follows next. She regrets Holcomb's covid-19 response (mandating masks) and wants to abolish state income taxes. This means that the state will be relying on property and sales tax to pay for everything.
Brad Chambers, candidate number three, wants cops, more cops, and more cops. He also wants to increase Holocaust education in schools! Hooray! Though this is mainly in response to the campus protests occurring across the state. (He really, really likes Whitten [the president of IU who decided to bring police onto campus in Bloomington] and fully supports and endorses her)
Eric Doden is running a standard Republican issue stance, pro-gun, pro-life, anti-trans, etc.
Curtis Hill, a former general attorney, had his law license suspended a few years ago shortly after facing allegations of sexual misconduct.
Jamie Reitenour is a stay at home, Christian, Conservative mother.
The last three candidates mostly exist to split the vote to ensure Braun can win - last I saw, he was polling at 44%, meaning only about a third of the state actually wants him in office, but because there is no real alternate candidate, he is likely to be elected.
You can find more information about all of these candidates on their websites and Ballotpedia.
I'd encourage everyone who can to vote Republican in the primary, and to pick either Crouch or Chambers if you don't want to see Braun as governor.
