A new link appears a few days later, but there's something odd about it. For one, it shows up in your inbox close to eleven at night. For another, when you enter the stream, the lights are dim, not the bright overhead fluorescents you've seen every other time. It's still in the same concrete room, but it's oddly quiet. Shepard is alone in the center of the room, head bent, dried blood crusted on his arms and shoulders. The only indication he's even alive is the shallow expansion and contraction of his ribcage, and the nonstop tremor that wracks his body.

“Shit. Okay.” 

It's Gabriel. He steps out from behind the camera, dressed out in his usual hoodie, mask, and gloves. There's something cautious about his demeanor.

“Good evening all! I hope you're ready for a late night special.”

His manner is… off, somehow, confident persona tacked on like a paper mask. His voice is also quieter. Like he's trying not to draw attention.

Does Lu know he's in there?

“I've got something new lined up,” Gabriel continues, and it sounds like he's trying to sound cheerful. Nonchalant. “Something you might like. Or… or maybe not. I don't know.”

He moves behind the camera, and you can hear him picking something up. Something heavy. When he steps back in frame, there's a pistol in his hand. He holds it carefully, almost as if he's afraid of it.

“Okay,” he murmurs. “I… Should I kill him? F-fucking bastard should just die now, right? Shouldn't I?”

He moves to the laptop, hastily creating a new poll.

Yes.

No.

Two simple answers. You're not sure which one you'd choose. You're not sure which one is right. Killing him sounds like the best option; it ends his suffering and ends him, ensuring he'll never hurt anyone else. But is that your choice to make? Or is it Lu's?

Gabriel hovers by the screen, hunched forward, waiting for the votes to tally up.

“Fuck.” His head drops, empty hand curling into a fist. Then all of a sudden he's moving in quick steps towards Shepard, raising the weapon, pressing its muzzle to the captive’s bruised temple.

Shepard groans at the touch, his eyelids twitching, and Gabriel tears the weapon away.

“Fuck,” he whispers. “I-I can't. Forget it.” With the pistol trained on the ground, he rubs the back of his head, his chin dropping.

“I'm sorry.”

You don't know if he's talking to the audience or the captive.

If Timmy struggled with adjusting to magic because he was raised on earth, does that mean this is the reason Peri also struggles? Since in his early years he grew up on earth with his parents?

Yup! There's a multitude of reasons why Peri struggles so much, but they all lie in his origins. Peri was born from a wish! And Wishes, well. They're not meant to last long. Most wishes become unstable as the years go by, but Peri's persisted because he's an entire living being!

CosWan initially feared Peri wouldn't grow up properly, but he turned out nearly as fine as any other Fairy would! Probably!!

Growing up on Earth, being related to the VonStrangles, born from a 10 year old's wish, living past the lifespan of wishes, beyond that of humans... Each part is rather small, but when added together, it culminates into a very... very unstable baby.
