On a recent visit to a local Colorado park, I stumbled upon a delightful scene—a mother duck diligently guiding her ducklings. These resilient creatures thrive in urban environments, blending the beauty of nature with the hustle and bustle of city life. It was a gentle reminder of how nature adapts and flourishes, even in unexpected places. 🦆

There’s something incredibly endearing about watching ducklings explore their world. Each little duckling waddles along, following their mother, learning and growing in their watery habitat. The innocence and curiosity of these young birds are truly captivating, bringing a smile to anyone who observes them.

Photographing wildlife in urban parks can be both challenging and rewarding. Here are some tips to help you capture these special moments:

🕒 Be Patient: Wildlife photography requires a lot of patience. The perfect shot may take time, but it’s always worth the wait.

🤫 Stay Quiet: Move quietly to avoid startling the animals. The more inconspicuous you are, the more natural and candid your photos will be.

🌞 Use Natural Light: The best times to shoot are early mornings or late afternoons when the light is soft and warm, creating a magical atmosphere in your photos.

🐦 Respect Nature: Maintain a safe distance and respect the animals' habitat. It’s crucial to ensure you don’t disturb their environment.

TIL about peacock spiders a/k/a Maratus spiders, which originate in Australia and, at least at first blush and unlike every other bit of fauna in Oz, don't appear to be lethal. But maybe they are. Who knows, really?

Photographer Maria Fernanda Cardoso worked with Queensland Museum experts to prepare these photos, which are quite remarkable. According to the article on @itscolossal, "Each one comprises more than 1,000 individual photographs merged together to show every microscopic detail."

Now, while I think these arachnids are beautiful, I am, generally, not a fan of spiders, although I recognize their right to coexist as long as they do so discreetly and out of the way.

You might say that I don't like spiders and snakes, just like Dolly Parton in this duet with Jim Stafford.

And whoever had the idea of getting her up in little-girl clobber with knee socks and Mary Janes was a very bad man.
