Mizu revealing her being a woman to akemi totally by accident AFTER they just had an argument abt women's choices in society AFTER mizu accidentally took one (1) big sip of sake, n then deciding fuck it im gonna win this argument, guess what akemi. And that's how akemi finds out. N Mizu thinks akemi is going to hate her, n she does for a bit in silence, but mostly shes just hurt? For herself AND for Mizu. Cause she understands, so suddenly, so intimately, how hard being a woman is and how mizu has had to hide as a man to survive (not even for plot reasons that we know, mizu being mixed AND a woman? They've grown but in different ways. Akemi, in taking life by the reins n being assertive and strong and so dangerously intelligent like shes always been but now, now its crucial to be that. And Mizu in realizing that she truly, truly wants to be loved so badly but to be loved is to be vulnerable and thats what scares her the most, to be weak; but ure only strong if u can be weak too, and thats what she learns. And i think this is where they really get deep into their feelings. Before it was a crush, an annoying one. Now? Oh bby theyre down bad. Yes they are.

i wanna speak to the void abt gwens universe's colour symbolism and how it links to trans identity so here it is, feel free to read

the colours used in gwens universe - primarily in interactions with her dad are pinkish and bluish tones. the animators used pink as a way to show honesty, candidness and openness expressed, whilst the blue served to show isolation and dishonesty. ill discuss why i think so below

in the scene where gwen returns home after quitting the band, gwen is coloured in blue tones.

shes hiding her identity as spiderwoman from her dad and isolating herself in her room.

her dad tries to open up and talk to her about the case, hence the warm/orangey tones. but gwen remains blue, shutting him out. but when they hug, gwen is more purplish, showing a hint of her opening up.

the other scene i think is especially significant with her colour symbolism is the confrontation after the guggenheim sequence.

when gwen comes out as spiderwoman, the colours start to shift.

gwen is now candid, shes come out to her dad and is trying to make him listen and understand her. but just like gwens blues became pinks, george's pinks shift to blue.

the last image in this set is actually so chilling, the fear in his eyes hurt me deeply 💀 anyway

george hides behind his cop persona, avoiding and isolating from gwens confession to him, which is supported by the colour used to portray him.

all of this builds to what i think theyre trying to say about gwen being transgender. the typical gender to colour association is pink girl and blue boy. the choice of colour is deliberate here as much as it usually is with the spiderverse team. why use these two colours in this specific way? a lot of people who dont think gwen is a trans girl will say "well those two colours dont have to represent trans identity" they dont, but the details say that the spiderverse team (once again) is intentionally using them to talk about trans identity and coming out.

i think that by putting the "protect trans kids" poster in gwens room, and the trans flag patch on officer stacy's jacket show that theyre not just randomly picking the colours, but that they made the conscious choice for the boy associated colour - blue - to show hiding and isolation. whilst pink is about honesty and openness whilst being the girl associated colour. i think that the use of these colours in this way is saying that gwen is a trans woman.

i havent even talked about the DIALOGUE in this movie and how trans it is. her arc (and miles' arc) across the two movies is such a queer coded story. okay but i cant be the only one obsessed with thinking about michael distortion (or helen! but idk as much about her yet and i dont think this fits her as well) loving to mark and claim you by carving spirals into you with its claws, it pretending it doesnt really care about you, youre just his newest plaything and it only keeps you around because youre entertaining. you think its just being cruel for fun and likes to see you in pain, bloody and scared (it def does lets be real) but really its branding you like that to make sure the other entities and beings know youre off limits. he says it cant feel love nor attachment like humans do- and maybe thats true- but god he gets unreasonable pissed at the idea of something else harming you, getting to taste your fear, taking you away from him.

michael tells itself that it only allows you to cling to and be affectionate with him because your attachment means youre more likely to do whatever to help it, that it keeps you around because youre so easy to scare but never actually run away so youre an easy, consistent meal. that it just likes the insanity of you loving a terrifying monster so much, that youre interesting to watch go about your day (despite not doing anything of note) when it's bored.

michael may not care about you (/lie) but if anyone bothers or hurts you, they either go missing or show up dead the next day, torn to shreds so bad they can't be identified by looks. it never mentions this to you or admits to doing it, but doesn't explicitly deny being involved if you ask, just laughing and saying some riddle shit like always. it does add a couple more spiral scars to your body afterwards tho

he has a little 'game' it likes to play with you (you do not willingly 'play' jyddjgxgj) of seeing how long it takes you to realize there are more doors in your house than before and if you go through one before you notice. if you do end up going into one, it will make you wander around the hallways for a while before only allowing you to leave right before you reach the verge of breaking or getting sick. michael may not be of the hunt, but sometimes it likes to hunt you in it's more monsterous form while in there as well, drawing out the chase despite the fact he could easily catch you in seconds. sometimes he lets you run out an opened door back to your house, other times it likes to actually catch you and turn back to it's more innocent and human looking form as you turn around in it's grasp, grinning a little too wide and laughing that sound that makes your ears want to bleed.

Some thoughts on Todd,

he started out as one of my least favorite evil exes, but I think part of that was simply that I could not quite figure out his motivations for a while. what is he gaining from being an evil ex? Why does he cheat on envy and veganism? I think I finally do understand his motivations now tho, and I am appreciating him more for it! and it also makes him seem a lot less jerky.

thoughts are mostly going to be coming from the comic and anime, with a lot of thoughts on his fling with wallace as well.

Todd is basically a pushover who is incredibly out of touch with his own feelings, and overvalues external validation. he is not the type to ever go for what he wants. not purely, not truly. he commits to what he thinks he is supposed to. goes for what he thinks he Should want instead of what he really does.

He isnt a vegan bc he wants to be. he's a vegan bc his father told him he'd never have the willpower to do so! I feel he is also in a relationship with envy bc he thinks he should be. childhood friends, and she wants him? and she's drop dead gorgeous, talented, and successful? he'd be crazy to say no, right?

I think him joining the league was a similar situation. It seemed like what everyone else was doing. so clearly, thats what he should do too, right?

But these arent the things he wants. He places value on these things bc other people do. But these things dont satisfy him, and inside him is an itch to act out in rebellion. the part of him that knows he isnt being true to himself. and he cheats!

He cheats to feel a sense of control over a life that is in no way his own. and I think that is why he feels so much for wallace.

bc why should he be with wallace? why would that be the obvious choice to anyone? It would be so silly to throw everything he has away for some guy he's just met. A guy that most people in his circle would probably consider a major downgrade compared to The Envy Adams.

but he is experiencing genuine attraction!! he is feeling fireworks!! he isnt messing around with someone who is simply a trophy or status symbol. Someone he thinks he should want, but doesnt really. he's messing around with someone who actually gets him going!!

Someone who he is into enough to realize that what he's doing with Envy is absolute bs!!! that everything he is doing is absolute bs!! And he chooses the real desire he has for Wallace, even tho it should seem like the wrong thing to do. In breaking up with Envy to pursue Wallace, Todd is finally Openly doing what he wants, breaking his former pattern of pushing it all down until it seeps out in secret rebellion.

and thats why he stops being vegan as well I think. he realizes its not something he ever truly wanted, he just wanted validation from his dad who was never going to give it to him anyway. And with the new revelation of choice, he quickly casts it aside.

While it seems like he lands in a rough place compared to the other exes, and it seems like wallace fucked him up bad, I think wallace gave him exactly what he needed. Wallace was never going to be the love of his life or happily ever after- Wallace was a wake up call.

Who better to show Todd how to get in touch with his repressed desires than Wallace, a man that denies himself no pleasure, and assertively goes for what he wants? Suddenly Todd can see he is allowed to be unapologetically himself. he doesnt have to be this person he hates being anymore.

What Wallace leaves Todd with is a new foundation to build something true on. One that takes into consideration that Todd is his own person. Its barren, but its steadier than the old one made of lies. and while he's got a lot to learn about himself, I think he will consider his own heart more fully from now on.

Where we see Todd at the end of the anime, he thinks he loves Wallace. But really, he's finally beginning to love and honor himself, and feeling more connected with his own heart than ever. <3

definitely so true when they have that much popularity I mean I sometimes dont get why some complain because theoreticslly they sought after that much popularity and once they start the process of doing auditions they cant take it back now 😬 a lot of it seems to stem from themselves obviously they do experience something traumatic no denying that however if an idol wants to keep being known they really have to lessen the woe is them mentallity and realise they actually have had it not bad up until some points. theyre not taylor swift or sabrina carpenter so they dont have much control over anything but i dont think an idol would survive this long if they constantly had victim complex whatever its called. cause they know pity often sells them more attention from people too so its hard to say when someone has been an actual victim versus it being something they have made up csuse i realise the media does it so often where an idol really is a victim of something but it gets overshadowed by someones fake victimness aka what newjeans have basically done cause imho seunghan is more of a victim than hanni for sure.

sometimes tho I tend to prefer the quieter members because I feel that the louder ones I like to be seen whereas they often seem to overlook some quieter idols. ateez have 3 fire signs and no earth signs so theyre totally imabalanced and I bet there is more discourse than what they let on. so for someone whos on the quieter side of things im guessing it is quite the struggle to get any real peace and personally id hate to be an idol anyway but people seem to pick apart quieter members and calling them rude and so on for not being as cheerful or obnoxious as other members. But then some members do deliberately act certain ways to get further attention so theyve got to have a bit of an ego right?

Yeah, but a lot of them do not know what they are actually getting into until it is too late and they feel they have no choice, because they feel they have no other option. I do feel most do fall victim to the industry. And I do feel the industry, entertainment and being famous is tougher than people think. The glitz and glamour is a facade. Having that much attention and pressure on you is not good for your mental health. And I don’t particularly think Taylor nor Sabrina have as much control as you may think. I feel western celebs are just as controlled, they just put up a better front that they are in control.

I remember doing a dynamic reading on Ateez and I remember getting a sense of the group being very noisy, so yeah, they are a chatty bunch and from my readings they do like to share a lot lol
