everyone always talks about going to the hughes lake house but what if they end up spending some summer time at their girls family beach house??? Why do we never see any love for the beach trope

Nonnie!! I love this so much!! I love beach tropes! As someone who's grown up by the coast and still lives on it, I love it when people love it too!! The beach trope is so underrated, it can be so pretty and vibey on the coast and in a beach house (not that I own one but I've stayed in a few)😭, especially during the summer!!

I've wanted to write something like this for ages but I'm scared people favour the lake more out of familiarity. I could go on about what I and my friends get up to in our lil uni town and my hometown.

He's unsure about spending a summer away from his family, he's a hockey player, and he's away from them more often than not but a long conversation with his parents has him re-thinking. They were right, you're also away from your family and friends just like him, when was the last time you saw them? Did you ever complain about it though? Ever complain about his dominating hockey schedule? Who's always there? You. Always you.

Think about Quinn/Jack/Luke visiting your family's beach house one summer, of course, he's nervous but it's all chill by the beach anyway! He hangs with your friends, gets to know them and your boy adores the way you laugh all the time, the smile on your lips is different to normal, it's one that home soil brings out, it's from familiarity. Your energy is brighter, more electric, more free than usual. For once, you know where everything is, what there is to do and who everyone saying 'good morning' to you is. Bonfires and beverages on the beach in the evenings, surfing during the day, seashell hunting, beach volleyball or whatever sport you play with your friends and family. And at night it's quiet walks along the shore, pubs/bars and cocktails, the three decent clubs everyone hits where the music isn't great but it's all you have, and if there's one thing the country has taught you, it is to make the most of what you have. And that's one thing he loves about you, you love to the fullest, you love your people, memories and things with everything you have. He may have his own experiences with loving the lake with his family, perhaps it's all he's ever known, but going to the beach house opens his eyes. That’s a bad things happen prompt hehe it’s the vague buddie hockey au thats probably going to have very little hockey in it sdfghj homophobia/biphobia warning on this one! The concept: A few years ago Buck (a fantastic player who a lot of people had their eyes on) got drafted to [a made up Pennsylvania hockey team] and during the press tour accidentally came out as bi, which goes kind of disastrously. Lots of fan uproar and press nastiness, team management is unsupportive, and he ends up not playing a lot during his opening season and no one will say its because of that but its definitely because of that. He gets traded away as soon as they can to [made up LA hockey team] where he’s been working himself ragged (pushing through a gnarly leg injury his second year) to prove that he’s a good player worthy of being here in the NHL through all the scrutiny that’s still aimed at him from the old “scandal.”

Eddie played on a Texas team for awhile, got in trouble for fighting too much on the ice and realized he didn’t want to be that angry all the time so took an extended leave/basically retired, and when he decided he wanted to come back his team was like cool but we dont really want you anymore and traded him to LA.

Fic will be like… moody, vibey… Buck practicing before everyone shows up and after everyone leaves, blisters and callouses and intense blue eyes, and the team kind of closes ranks around him because they love their guy and have seen the shit that's been thrown at him over the years so Eddie has to prove he's trustworthy before he's let in. And Buck's so focused and cold on the ice but he's so good with Chris when he meets him, he's so warm with coach Bobby, the first time he smiles at Eddie it's breathtaking! And they work So good together on the ice, really it's no wonder Eddie falls in love! Eddie finally kissing him and Buck asking him if it's a joke, if he's going to run for the press, Eddie having to spend ages convincing him that it's real, and then another age convincing him that he wants it despite the circus Buck warns him his life could become (maybe Eddie saying something like "it's not even as big a deal as it used to be, isnt Tommy Kinard married now?" just to name another not straight hockey player but Buck's face gets all tight and Eddie's like ....Ah.) but they work it out sort of they're together as privately as they can possibly be it's fine it's going okay

and maybe Buck gets hurt and Eddie doesn't even think about throwing down his gloves and it doesn't feel like a set back at all because he's doing it for Buck.... And when Buck's back from Hen checking him out and Eddie's out of the penalty box they're both bleeding onto the ice but they make eye contact and know that now and always they'll be doing it together

(cuz that’s lowkey hot as fuck lmao) & he’s singing everything with you, not as loud as trevor since trevor is basically screaming, but loud enough to tell that he knows the lyrics because whenever ur on aux in his car, you guys are always listening to taylor!! RYAN LEONARD: he’s casually singing all of the lyrics because he loves taylor. he’s standing behind you, his arm slung over your chest, holding your back to him. he’s probably not wearing any merch (he def bought some after the concert tho), but he is wearing a pink cowboy hat & a couple of bracelets that swifties have given him!! i feel like he also would’ve made a couple of bracelets with you before the concert and he would’ve been so proud of himself. HES SO CUTE - i think he would be watching taylor during the vigilante shit part, but he’d hold you tighter and kiss your head a lot, like a sign that he’s not really watching, yk. he would look at u a lot during enchanted and probably full on ballroom dance with you bc as much as taylor in a ball gown is so beautiful, you’re his favorite girl !!

An installment in the The Interview universe.

"This is a love song."

"What? No, it's not!" Steve argues, looking back down at the notebook.

"It reads like a love song. The little bit you just sang for me has love song vibes," Robin leans more of her weight onto Steve's back, where she's standing over his shoulder reading the lyrics.

He stares down at the page. "Yeah. Okay. I see it. But, like, I didn't mean it to be all love song vibey."

"I would do it again if I could hold you for a minute," Robin reads in a flat tone, unimpressed.

"Okay! Stop, I don't- I mean- ugh!" Steve slumps forward, resting his forehead on the page of lyrics. "Okay, fine, but like, in context I'm clearly talking about like, reliving my whole life. I would do it all again."

"Did you just say that this is clearly about your whole life because if so, I want to be on the same drugs as you," Robin pushes off of him to move around the table and plop into the chair across from him. She tries her best to level him with a stare, but he doesn't give her the satisfaction by refusing to lift his head. The downside of being soulmates, she decides. He knows what she's going to do and when and can, therefore, avoid it. "Look, I get that he was, like, your first love and high school sweetheart but he couldn't have been that good of a fuck. It was just inexperience that made-"

"Robin!" Steve shouts over her, looking at her now so she can see his scandalized expression. Ha! She takes it back. It's an upside to being soulmates because she knows exactly what to say to rial him up. "It's not about the sex! It's about all of it. Everything. I don't- what Eddie did was shitty and it fucking hurt, but that was ten years ago. This song is about everything."

She doesn't see it that way, but even with how well she's able to read him, Steve's mind has always had its own way of thinking she can't quite nail down. With a sigh, she says, "Alright. Benefit of doubt time. Explain the song to me."

"It's not just about Eddie. It's about my whole life. You know how my parents were, how high their expectations were and how I had to hide almost everything about me while I lived with them. That's the my life was a storm since I was born. How could I fear any hurricane bit. And if I hadn't dated Eddie, like, at all. Well, I was already on the track to being an asshole in elementary school. Can you imagine who I would have been in high school if I was still that kid?

"It's also, like, if Eddie and I had stayed together... If we hadn't- I hadn't broken up with him, would I have met Dustin? Or Lucas and Max? Will or Mike, Nancy, and Jonathan? It's like, the years directly after Hey Steve were absolute dogshit, yeah, but it brought me all the people I love now," Steve looks down to the page again, either avoiding her eye contact or finding it too much. She's not sure which one. "If Eddie and I had stayed together there was only option for my future. Once the car had been fully put in my name, I'd have told Eddie to pick a city and we'd have left, for Eddie to chase his dream while I chased him. I wouldn't have gone to Chicago with you, never had the money to purchase that first place to live with you. Maybe never have discovered I loved interior design and house renovation. So, I would do it all again. It brought me my family."

She understands, now, what the lyrics really mean to him. However, she's also the one person in the whole world close enough to Steve to actually see it. "I get what you are saying. But these lyrics do not tell that story. Knowing your reasoning behind it does make me see them that way. But no one who hears that is going to know your tragic backstory."

"So, should I re-write this?"

"Depends. What is your goal with this... statement. What is the best case scenario."

Steve blinks at her. "Oh. Uh, best case, huh? I guess... I want to talk to Eddie, again. We parted on real bad terms, and I think I want closure from that?"

She narrows her eyes at him, judging. "Are you angry, like, at all?" She is. She's still furious with Eddie. His fucking song had blown Steve's life up virtually overnight. But also, she had thought they were friends, too. She hadn't realized their friendship was conditional, with that condition being he and Steve having to be in a relationship.

And, yeah, logically she knows she was Steve's friend first and it would be easy to default to believing she'd be on Steve's side but she wasn't. Not at first.

When Steve had shown up at her house, having gone straight from Eddie's to hers after he told them they were over, she'd held him through the night as he cried. But in the morning, she'd told him she needed to check on Eddie. He was her best friend, too. But Wayne told her he was gone, left last night to Chicago. Wayne had offered her a ride there with him, after he got Eddie's van running again and went to take it to him.

She said she'd think about it. Tried to reach out over all the socials, but Eddie didn't even check them, and then Hey Steve came out and there wasn't any room left in her to care about Eddie and his emotional state.

Not anymore. Not when he'd left her, too. Not when, even after Robin had made her own way to fame, he declined to meet with her. She'd tried to reach out but who was she, a new comer to the music scene and barely known, to Eddie Fucking Munson, lead guitarist to Corroded Coffin?

"I mean, sure, but like... it's been ten years. I don't- I have better things to think about than how mad I was... am? at Eddie. We were friends, first, y'know. And it's complicated. You know this," Steve says.

"Yeah, yeah," Robin waves off his words, "you're whole Eddie was a part of my life for longer than he's been gone from it thing. I'm not sure that the fifteen years of your childhood should be counted the same as this decade of adulthood."

"I get that you don't want to forgive him, and that's fine. But, forgiveness or not, I want closure."

"Okay. Keep the song as is."

"Really?"

"Yes," Robin says, a Cheshire cat grin spreading across her face. If Steve records and shares what sounds like a love song, there's almost a 100% chance that Gareth will reach out again. She knows they're expecting to see an angry and hurt Steve, but instead they'll get this? Robin's not above playing unfair. She hopes this breaks Eddie, consumes him with a guilt as deep as the original hurt felt. "I think we should let everyone think it's your sad, pathetic, pining for a decades-old-love song. It'll definitely get Gareth reaching out to me and my team again."

"Gareth's reached out?"

"It's his job. He's Corroded Coffin's PR Manager now, apparently. When Lauri told me Gareth had reached out, I asked to be included in the call. Anyway, not the point. The point is, if you want to talk to Eddie, this love song is the trick."

"It's not a love song!"

"Whatever you say, Dingus. Sing it again so I can imagine the music to go with it."

Different takes I have based on my interests and other miscellaneous things because I’m bored.

•Bill Cipher is never getting redeemed, ever, I adore his character but I can admit when my faves are horrible people. Oh and the way some people write the Handyman Bill au makes me REALLY uncomfortable as an abuse survivor. Why do some people write it like it’s the Pines family’s responsibility for Bill’s actions? Thats so fucked, especially with Ford (the ones where they basically shit talk Bill the entire time he’s at the Mystery Shack is funny as fuck though more of that please)

•The “Jax is an NPC” theory is boring and it would make him a lot less compelling as a character if that was the case

•You can still love Danganronpa and admit that the fanservice (ESPECIALLY the stuff with Mikan) is gross

•DNI lists will inevitably attract the people in those lists to harass and piss off whoever the account is and that’s why I don’t use them

•The original Monster flavour tastes like condensed piss and I will never understand the people who drink it when every other flavour soloes it by comparison

•The second half of the Death Note anime isn’t bad at all people were just too busy huffing on L copium to care, also, Mello was one of the best characters in the entire show

•Most of Killstar’s collaborations are terrible, the Monster High collection is one of the most disappointing things I’ve ever seen and it all looks so uninspired and bland (they saved themselves a bit with the second Gloomy Bear collab they did but most of the designs for their collabs are really tacky).

•Hear me outs are becoming incredibly sterilised, there’s a big difference between a hear me out and a character you find attractive

•Also, humans (both real and fictional) along with any Hellaverse characters do not count as hear me outs (to me anyway I’m not the hear me out police)

•Ultrakill will be seen as one of the greatest games of all time once it’s fully released, it is an absolute masterclass in immersion and presentation and the soundtrack is one of the best I’ve ever heard

•I like the DHMIS show a bit more than the web series

•Resellers need to be called out more, I’ll probably make a separate post talking about this more but it gets BAD. Not all of them are bad (especially on Vinted) but the overcharging in certain fandoms is insane (especially with Sanrio stuff it’s actually disgusting)

•Lloromannic have the potential to be some of the most popular Sanrio characters of all time but their potential goes nowhere

•Prima is one of the most misused Vocaloids of all time and it HURTS. When she’s used properly she sounds GORGEOUS but most people use her for pop stuff and she sounds awful there. Shes an OPERALOID, she’s meant for OPERA. Stop misusing her (I also don’t like any of her designs I’m sorry-)

•SeeU is also very underrated, Alone is one of my favourite Vocaloid songs it’s really vibey

•Monster High G3 is very overhated. There are still some designs I don’t like (Iris’ design hurts me, the character with the same body type as me gets the weakest outfit fuck 💀) but its representation is really good (Twyla not being shamed for needing headphones in loud spaces made me so happy)

•ROTTMNT’s version of Donatello is some of the best autism rep I’ve ever seen, I’ve never identified with an autistic character more than I have with him and the fact that the show’s in limbo makes me really upset

•Robo Fizz’ design > normal Fizz’ design

•I don’t care how many songs you give Stolas I will always see Octavia as the victim in that situation and the fact that the crew see her as a “cock block” pisses me off

•Phosphophyllite will go down as one of the greatest protagonists in recent memory, their story is heartbreaking and no one in that manga deserved a happy ending more than them

•Vinted is the best reseller app and it’s not even close

•I don’t care if Art The Clown never gets a backstory, he’s a silly little guy who kills people in horrific ways and I’m fine with that

•Making it a rule to not talk about certain fandoms on big Discord servers is fucking useless, an old autism server I was on went to shit when this happened, just ignore them and move on

•The addictive nature of Character AI needs to be talked about more, I’ve only began to realise how bad it is recently, it’s negatively affected my writing abilities, do NOT download it (especially if you’re mentally ill) you WILL get addicted to it and it isn’t fun. I’ve deleted it and I’m going to try to get into better habits, never again

• William Afton is an evil bastard and that’s okay, he never needed any redeemable traits and I really like that they’re making him do some Saturday morning cartoon level shit while also making him a threat (The Golden Bite in Into The Pit is as funny as it is horrific)

•I don’t care how many times the Fnaf games will try and gaslight me into seeing the Pinkypills Afton design as him, I will ALWAYS picture Matthew Lillard when thinking of this character (also I never want to see any Pinkypills or Ladyfiszi art in the games ever again they’re terrible people and they should’ve gotten fired years ago)

•Rage bait is the key factor in what made the internet a significantly more miserable place, start saying pizza with random fruit on is good again stop with the racist and misogynistic bullshit

•CaseOh being one of the most popular streamers right now brings me joy, in a time where so many male streamers are some of the most miserable and out of touch cunts in existence, having one of the most popular ones be a seemingly normal and chill guy is so refreshing

•I respect Illumination as a studio a lot more than others would think, in an age where horror stories are coming out surrounding every animation studio in existence, I have yet to hear one about Illumination. Do I like their movies? Not really (some of them are kind of fun and the Sing movies are guilty pleasures) but they seem a lot more ethical than other studios (also they’ve openly mocked AI that’s fucking awesome lmao)

•Murder Drones needed more episodes/time to explore certain ideas, that final episode felt like a SEASON finale, not a SERIES finale (no complaints about Cyn though I adore her)

•The art style change to Soul Eater to Soul Eater Not! Will go down as one of the biggest downgrades in history
