Mammon is the lord of greed. The second oldest brother. He is strong, his strength surpasses that of Leviathan, the third. He's loud, greedy, and rarely ever keeps his promises. He's a thief and spends far too much money.

Everything everyone says about him is true, except the part where he cried the loudest. In fact, he was the most quiet. The day of your death, he did not cry. He did not scream. He stood there motionless, silently hoping you'd return like you did before.

Everyone says he immediately ran to gamble, but that's not true. He stayed in his room and if he wasn't there, he's at lord Diavolo's castle on his knees willingly offering his entire being just to be with you again and yet the demon just shook his head and left the lord of greed to mourn with no tears, he bargained with witches, and made pacts with anyone that he thinks can revive you.

It was all fruitless.

They said it was impossible, but how would they know? They haven't tried.

So he went to another witch...

"Revive someone? I-I can't do that! That's an impossible task, no witch can achieve such great feat. Even if there was... I doubt he'd be willing to revive someone who had died in peace."

The witch had told him. Funnily enough, she looked like you. Her hair was similar to yours, only it had been in a different color and shade. Her eyes was exactly yours. Her eyes shone brightly like yours would. It was breathtaking.

What was her name again? Tammy? No, that's a different witch. Taser? That's a defensive items humans own for safety, it doesn't work on demons though. Oh! Tabitha. That was her name.

It was pain having to hear the same words, and yet he kept enduring it all in hopes for good news.

He spent weeks on the streets searching for someone who can save you, he hadn't gone to Barbatos because he knows that the reality is... You're dead. And he can't bring you back.

But, he tried anyways.

"Barbatos. Please, I know you can-"

"I can't."

A quick and easy shut down. A simple "I can't" spoke so many unsaid words.

He can't accept the rational solution: acceptance, and chose to deny all truth in hopes it's all a mere bad dream that he was unfortunate enough to be stuck in.

At some point in time, he desperately pleaded his father up above to bring you back. To allow him a bit more time to at least say goodbye.

He had begged Lucifer to put him in a sleep where he can meet you.

He had begged Leviathan, lord Diavolo... Everyone he can talk irrationally to. And yet, he was met with the exact same response each and every time.

"MC isn't coming back. Let her rest, she would've wanted you to be happy."

...

It hurt.

Did you know that when you left him to hold your body one last time, it broke him in ways that felt impossible?

His room was dark, and devoid of life other than his own.

On his knees with his hands clasped together, and his most gentle soft voice, he whispers a prayer.

A demon, praying?

Unheard of.

But if it's for you, he's willing to defy all odds and endure the burning flame that burned his entire body.

Hi! this is kinda an art request if u dont mind. And it's angst related, can you draw like where wanda and cosmo obvs have seen for a while how (human) timmy has been treated by his real parents. I just want to see like the "last straw" which lead Cosmo and Wanda wanting them to make Timmy as their own. (IM HAPPY THAT TIMMY HAS A FAMILY THAT LOVES AND CARES FOR HIM)

The "Last Straw"?

Cosmo and Wanda have seen humans at their best. They've seen humans at their worst. They've seen anything and everything that they've gone numb and used to what humans get up to.

But nothing's shaken them quite like Timmy's case did. Nothing has ever made a Fairy feel such strong human emotions than what Timmy made them feel, on that one particular night.

The thing that broke Cosmo and Wanda was Timmy himself.

the inability to use modern expressions like "jesus christ" and "oh my god" when writing people speaking in a modern, colloquial fantasy in fiction is actually really awkward sometimes. because almost anything you replace it with is going to sound naff as hell. tempted to just leave the culturally-contextual oaths in and trust people to understand that they're translation conventions. turn linguistic smeerps into rabbits, as it were.

So I went to the wiki page for the henghill Bullet & Brain mission of 2.2 looking for some dialogue I had missed and

a) I found something incredibly tasty that slotted into some other thoughts I'd been having, more on that on another day, and

b) I saw this super fun little trivia at the bottom, which!

I knew Penacony characters like Boothill took a lot of inspirations from old movies, but I didn't realize it was even in his and Dan Heng's relationship, that's so cool!!

It fits them very well, it's such a fun reference. "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was an old buddy Western film (from 1969- nice) about a pair of outlaws. Butch Cassidy was the leader of a gang, and described as clever, affable, and talkative. Meanwhile, his closest companion, the Sundance Kid, was known as a man of few words.

Cassidy's original birth name was much more plain, but similar to Boothill, he took on a new moniker when he became an outlaw. "Cassidy" had been the last name of his beloved mentor, who taught him how to shoot and ride. And Sundance Kid was known as he was because Sundance was the name of his hometown, and it was the only place that had ever managed to catch and jail him, back when he'd been younger (also similar to Dan Heng, but ouch).

These two stick together like glue throughout the length of the film- through Cassidy's leadership of the gang being challenged, through a train robbery gone wrong, through being pursued by mercenaries, and even through fleeing to Bolivia and trying to start over together.

I don't want to say too much more, since the mission title is referencing one specific movie that I've never seen. I kinda wanna watch it now, though, just to see the inspiration that went into Boothill and Dan Heng and how they get along. I just think it's really sweet that these two were literally made to be the best of bros, how lovely is that. 💕
