Why Do We Need Apple Cider Vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar has been a home remedy for generations because of its many health benefits, including reducing bloating, improving weight management, and strengthening the immune system.
But more and more companies are making their own apple cider vinegar, making it difficult to tell which brands are worth the money and which aren't.
Apple cider vinegar contains prebiotics that nourish your gut bacteria, thus improving absorption of essential nutrients. Its antiviral and antibacterial properties support immunity and make it more difficult for harmful pathogens to enter your system.
Additionally, people report feeling fuller when taking ACV, often resulting in a natural decrease in caloric intake over time.
ACV Gummies VS. Traditional ACV
In recent years, gummy versions of apple cider vinegar have outperformed traditional ACV for many reasons.
better taste and aroma Convenient and easy to integrate into daily life Rich in superfoods Rich in B vitamins Safer for tooth enamel

Hum Nutrition Buying Guide: The Good, The Bad, and the Meh
When I initially talked about Hum Nutrition’s supplements, I was less than positive. The price was extortionate and the products often made claims that they couldn’t back up with science (al å “detox”). However, after some further research, I found that you can get up to a ~75% discount on their products. With that discount, some of their supplements are actually very good and I would recommend them.
So, I’ll sort through the supplements. “The Good” I would recommend. “The Bad” I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. “The Meh” have potential, but I have reservations about them. (I’ll star (*) the ones I’ve purchased)
Oh, and if you choose to make a purchase, my 25% off referral code is: 13EAEC 😉
The Good
*Base Control
A very good multivitamin with iron, zinc (for acne), b12, biotin... for the price, I recommend it for any woman looking for a multivitamin supplement. If you don’t need or want iron, there is an iron-free version (though I think the iron is a major benefit).
*Raw Beauty
This is a drink mix powder. It contains antioxidants, digestive enzymes, and probiotics. Those are all things that can be helpful (antioxidants to prevent free radical damage and digestive enzymes/probiotics for indigestion), but don’t expect it to do anything for your skin/hair/”beauty”.
*Skinny Bird
This pill is meant to prevent the storage of fat in the body and to suppress appetite. I put this in “The Good” category instead of “The Meh”, because the evidence seems pretty convincing. The plant responsible, caralluma fimbriata, has been used for centuries in India to promote weight loss. Also, there have been many modern studies showing its modest effect on weight loss. I think, in addition to diet and exercise, this is actually a viable and safe weight loss supplement to take.
*Flatter Me
For those who struggle with indigestion, this is a pill that contains digestive enzymes. I will say that the amount of lactase is wimpy, so I wouldn’t necessarily rely on this if you’re lactose intolerant.
*Gut Instinct
An excellent probiotic. 10 strains of bacteria, 25 billion microorganisms; if you have bowel issues (ex. irritable bowel syndrome), I would highly recommend this to you.
*OMG! Omega the Great
This is another winner for me. Provides the appropriate amount of omega-3 fatty acids without any notorious fish taste or burps. Omega-3′s have an anti-inflammatory action in the body and they also help to fortify your skin’s moisture barrier. This is a great option for those with sensitive or acne-prone skins, but anyone can benefit.
Beauty zzZz
A basic melatonin supplement. This helps those with sleep disturbances. Keep in mind that melatonin is a neurotransmitter (a brain chemical). Don’t take this when not necessary. Daily, long-term use may have negative side effects. Definitely talk with your doctor first about melatonin supplements.
Here Comes the Sun
A basic vitamin D supplement. I added this to “The Good” and not “The Meh”, because I always advocate for sunscreen, which makes vitamin D supplements essential. As a result of daily sunscreen use, your vitamin D levels decrease. You have to make sure you’re getting enough vitamin D. You don’t need Here Come the Sun if your multivitamin already contains vitamin D (Base Control does).
*Killer Nails
Pure biotin. And an excessively high dosage, too. Keep in mind that biotin is water-soluable, so if you take more than your body can use, you just piss it out. I caution against biotin, because some people report that it gives them acne. It may help with hair and nail health.
Hair Sweet Hair
Like Killer Nails, but sexier. Contains that same dosage of biotin, but with b12 and zinc. This is honestly what I would classify as their “beauty supplement”. And it’s in gummy form!
*Pimp My Calcium
This is a calcium/vitamin D pill. It’s very important for young women to consume lots of calcium, in order to store it in our bones. Good calcium stores reduce your risk greatly for osteoporosis as well as other chronic diseases. If you feel as though you’re not taking in enough calcium, Pimp My Calcium may be a good option for you.
B12 Turbo
If you’re a vegan/vegetarian, this supplement was made with you in mind. As you may already know, b12 is an essential vitamin that is largely absent from a meat-free diet. Taking this supplement could help you to avoid needing b12 injections (and I think we can all agree that less injections is good).
The Bad
Red Carpet
This is a pill that contains some omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids promote skin and hair health, so I could justify putting this supplement in “The Good” category. But- and this is a serious but- the average American already consumes more than enough omega-6′s daily. Like too much. This is bad news, because excessive omega-6 actually has a pro-inflammatory affect on the body. This could contribute to a number of serious diseases. You really want to avoid this. In fact, I would recommend you look for more ways to reduce your daily omega-6 intake.
*Big Chill
Intended to keep you calm and help you cope with stress, this pill is composed entirely of rhodiola extract. I don’t find the research on this plant to be strong enough. Hum Nutrition sites random studies “European and Asian” studies that tout the plant as an “adaptogen”. To keep things short and sweet, adaptogens are bullshit. I’m not convinced this will do anything for you.
Uber Energy
To make things funny, they used rhodiola extract again, but this time to give you lots of energy! Wait... Isn’t it supposed to help you calm down? Again, they claim the use of adaptogens and “adrenal support blends” which are just a bunch of plant extracts. The only thing I can see having a focusing effect is the L-tyrosine (an amino acid), and the research is not strong for it. Save your money.
Wing Man
This is probably the worst one, in my opinion, so forgive me if I go off. It claims to “detoxify” your body (which we already know is BS); specifically, your liver and dark undereye circles. Hum Nutrition claims that plant extracts will treat liver damage from alcohol consumption... and that it will get rid of your dark circles...
Ok, I’ll bite, how? With milk thistle... because it has antioxidants. And dandelions, because they have a diuretic effect. Peeing more will detox your liver... Am I missing something? Wouldn’t a diuretic make alcohol-related dehydration worse? They even brand it like “Go ahead and drink, you filthy alcoholic, as long as you take this pill!” I’m just not seeing how these claims add up. It’s psuedoscience, at best.
Cut back on the alcohol and drink some water. That’s a far better “detox” than anything you can buy in a bottle.
*Moody Bird
This is a supplement to reduce the severity of symptoms of PMS. The star ingredient, chasteberry, has some backing to alleviate PMS-related breast pain... but that’s it. There’s just not good enough evidence to support this supplement as a treatment for anything.
The Meh
Daily Cleanse
Another “detox” pill. This pill claims that it will “flush the toxins” from your body and skin. It’s meant for those with acne, specifically. They attribute this cleanse to their “Skin Cleanse & Detox Blend”, which is just a bunch of plant extracts.
So let’s cut the bullshit. It’s a zinc pill. Zinc deficiency does have a link with acne, so taking this product may improve your skin appearance. Yes, I am saying that this may help with acne. And some antioxidants never hurt anyone.
The marketing just pisses me off, because its attributing it’s benefits to the wrong stuff. It’s the zinc that’s clearing your skin, not a plant blend. The whole product page on the website seems to gloss over the zinc, instead highlighting shit like algae and beetroot.
Then when this product works for people, they’re like “Oh, detoxes must work!”. I hate it lol! If you read the reviews, the amount of placebo is crazy. People are attributing this pill to “debloating”, feeling “lighter”, improving digestion, and weight loss when there’s no way it could do any of those things. It’s like, this is what happens when people have no idea what they’re taking.
I’ll finish off by saying that I wouldn’t necessarily even recommend this to those with a zinc deficiency. Some multivitamins, like Base Control, contain the same amount of zinc as Daily Cleanse. It’s not worth it to buy a separate product.
Arctic Repair
This supplement stars lingonberry seed oil, which “helps to rejuvenate the skin and reduce wrinkles.” I’ll level on this one; It seems interesting and the reviews seem positive. However, I can’t in good conscience recommend a product with only 1 study to back it. If you want to give it a try (at $60 a pop), go for it!
Turn Back Time
This pill will not “turn back time” for you, so into “The Meh” pile it goes. I don’t like the pill advertising something it can’t deliver on. That being said, this is a very interesting supplement. It contains polypodium leucotomos, an herb which has been shown to help (in addition to sunscreen) protect the skin against sun damage. I would try Turn Back Time based on that alone, because I’m a crazy sunscreen lady. It also contains some fun extras, like turmeric and lutein, but at negligible doses. The dosage of polypodium leucotomos could be higher as well. If the concept of polypodium leucotomos interests you, then give this pill a shot, but don’t expect it to turn back damage that has already occurred to your skin. The name is especially misleading because the nature of this product is preventative, not repairing.
Collagen Love
Collagen Love derives it’s name from the collagen peptides it contains. I initially wrote this one off completely because consuming collagen does not give your skin collagen. However, collagen peptides have been shown to help synthesize collagen, hydrate the skin, and improve wrinkles! .... In rodents. There’s not a single human trial that shows it’s benefits. Is there a potential for benefit? Yes, but it hasn’t been proven. Therefore, I can’t recommend Collagen Love.
Also, to address the other ingredients in the supplement: Meh.
Ripped Rooster
This is a pill meant to boost your metabolism and increase weight loss through a chemical known as 7-keto-DHEA. There is limited research to show its benefit, but one study that does exist claims that there is significant weight loss with 7-keto-DHEA usage. I think, if you’re interested, give it a try, but it may or may not work for you.
Air Patrol
Vitamin C, calcium, and anti-inflammatories. Is this a bad combo? Not at all. Are they going to make your skin look “young and rejuvenated”? No. Is it going to reverse all the damages that could arise from air pollution? Absolutely not. Also, these ingredients can be found in other multivitamins. The bioflavinoids are nice.
Always check with your doctor before starting supplements or making significant changes to your diet. Especially if you’re 18 years old or younger. The opinions above are my own based on the evidence available to me.
Keep in mind that supplements are supplements to your diet. You should only take them if you feel that your diet doesn’t already provide them. Chances are that you’re already consuming most everything you need in a normal, healthy diet.
My judgement on a supplement is not the final word. If you’d like to try any of “The Bad” supplements, go for it. They won’t hurt you. You may even have success. Visa versa, “The Good” supplements may have no effect on you. YMMV.

Why Boosting Your Immune System Makes You Feel Sicker (And 8 Other Facts That Will Protect Your Health)
“You have a supercharged immune system…and that is why you’re so sick.”
I’ll never forget the words from my immunologist. It was the same speculation I heard a week earlier from my oncologist, right after a relieving conversation where she shared that I didn’t have cancer. If I’m being open, this was the third time I’d heard about my overachieving immune system, as the words echoed what my rheumatologist had suspected, as well.
Now, before you think this is about some rare disease or a catchy headline, I’m sharing my story because it’s an important lesson for you and how you can protect your health. In the face of coronavirus concerns and immune system hype, I’ve watched helplessly as supplement manufacturers have blatantly lied about the realities of “boosting” your immunity.
For more than 20 years, I’ve suffered from inexplicably high fevers without any answers. My fevers would last for more than 60 days and run upwards of 104 degrees, forcing me into delirium, causing me to lose upwards of 30 pounds, and leaving me a shell of a human.
Of all the things I expected to find out — cancer, infectious disease, the plague (that’s what I called my mysterious illness — a “boosted immune system” was the last thing on my mind. But, this became my reality once I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder.
If you want to really understand what you can do to work with the natural functions of your body, it’s important to know that a “boosted” immune system is not what you think and not what you want. Instead, it’s time to rethink sickness and disease — and follow these science-backed recommendations to help you stay as healthy as possible.
How Your Immune System Really Works
It didn’t take the outbreak of coronavirus to make you worry about your immune system. The multivitamin industry is a multi-billion dollar business. From Vitamin C gummies to antioxidant drinks and zinc lozenges, there’s no shortage of options that promise to protect your immune response.
The only problem is, like most supplements, there’s a lot more smoke (read: marketing) than substance.
With a few exceptions, most vitamins and minerals won’t do anything for your immune system unless you are severely malnourished and deficient. And, we’re not talking about missing your daily fruits and vegetables. We’re talking about you living in a perpetual state of sickness.
The idea that you can pop a pill, drink a fizzy potion, chug kombucha, super-charge with billions and billions of probiotics, mainline IV cocktails, or do anything else to “boost” your immune system is…well…how can I put this clearly…
It’s bullshit.
This is not doom and gloom or a haters anthem. Just the opposite. There are a few impactful things you can do (without spending money) to protect your immune system. But, there just happen to be many (many) more potentially useless options that don’t.
A quick disclaimer: if you take multivitamins, Greens drinks, or other supplements for a variety of other reasons — or just to fill the gaps in your diet — there’s no need to stop if it works for you. This is just about what you can really do to help support your immune system.
Here are 8 truths that will change the way you think of your body, save you money, and — most importantly — make it easier to course-correct and take care of yourself both before and after you get sick.
Immune System 101
Your immune system might be the most impressive design of the human body. You have two different components that protect you from disease — the innate and the adaptive.
Your body has a first line of defense, like your skin and mucous membranes. Once a disease passes through, that’s when your innate immune response kicks in. These the proteins and cells that fight against any disease or infection by increasing inflammation (yes, inflammation can be a good thing — more on this later) to create a protective barrier aimed at preventing the spread of any infection that has penetrated your body.
The easiest way to think about this is imagining the behind-the-scenes magic your body works after you get a cut anywhere on your body and you need to heal with simultaneously preventing the creation or spread infection.
On the other hand, the adaptive immune response is what you probably think about as your immune system. This how your body responds when you get sick and your body quickly works to recognize the disease, create antibodies or immune cells, and defeat the infection, bacteria, or virus.
This function (and limitations) of your adaptive immune system is both what makes coronavirus so dangerous — and what makes your immune system so fascinating.
If your body has no way of recognizing a disease (this is what makes a virus novel), then you’re going to get sick. But, assuming your body can overcome the disease and create immune cells to overcome the infection, your newfound immunity (the cells) stays in your body forever.
It’s why many doctors believe that it might be impossible for you to suffer from the exact infection twice. Once it’s learned, you’re protected. That’s also why you shouldn’t worry about being inside weakening your immunity. It’s not how your body works.
It’s the same mechanism that allows vaccines to be effective. The disabled version of the bug is introduced into your body, you “learn it” and creates the methods to defeat it, and then you can use this newfound defensive mechanism to keep you safe.
Therein lies the most important part of your adaptive immune system. You have to adapt to the disease, and to do so you must come in contact with it.
But, you can’t improve your immune system’s database without fighting infections first.
An Immune “Boost” Is Not Good For You
Your immune system can’t be easily manipulated. Anyone that tells you they can “boost” one part of your immune system is lying. Not to mention, doing so could be a massive mistake.
Think about the story of my autoimmune disease. As my doctor’s made painfully clear, I have a “boosted” immune system. When I get sick, my body responds by triggering high fevers. This is a natural reaction.
Despite what you might think, a fever is a good thing. It’s your body’s way of fighting disease by heating up your internal system, making the illness uncomfortable and vulnerable so you can kill it off.
But, my reaction is broken. It’s a supercharged response that means my body heats up even hotter — and there’s no off-switch. So, I stay hot — long after the original bug has been killed, and my entire body suffers as a result. This, in a nutshell, is what happens with all autoimmune conditions (but not all result in symptoms like fevers).
Now, apply that same concept to your own body. When you think about boosting your immune system, you probably imagine being healthier, feeling stronger, and recovering faster.
But, when your immune system is actually boosted and working — much like my fevers — the “effectiveness” would result in you being miserable.
Think about when you’re sick. The aches and fevers and even the snot (yeah, I just wrote snot) are not the symptoms of sickness; they are all a byproduct of your innate immune system at work.
The same goes for allergies. The itchy eyes and burning throat are your immune system reacting, learning, and fighting.
So, if you truly boost your immune system, you would intensify those uncomfortable symptoms.
Safe to say, unless your body is in fight-mode, you don’t want an overactive (AKA “boosted”) immune system because that’s what causes autoimmune disorders, a disease to which there is no cure.
Instead, you want a healthy, functioning immune system that knows when to fight infection when it’s needed, can relax when it’s not, and is able to maintain a strong barrier against disease. To make this your reality, stop looking for boosts and start focusing on the things take make it harder for your body to function normally.
Stress Is The Original Immune System Killer
If you really want to help your immune system, start by looking at your stress levels. Whether you feel it or not, stress disarms your immune system and prevents it from working at its normal levels.
As far back as the 1980s, breakthroughs in the stress-immune system relationship occurred in research that focused on students and how their immune systems were suppressed leading up to exams. The research found that your T-cells (the fighters that protect you against everything from viruses to life-threatening diseases like cancer) decrease in the face of stress.
There was also fascinating research at Carnegie Mellon, which found that people who had less stress in their lives were better able to fight off the common cold when exposed to the virus. Similar responses immunosuppression was mimicked in other stressful situations, including studies that show people in difficult relationships heal slower if they suffer cuts or other wounds.
So what’s happening? A great immune system is one that isn’t being dragged down by life (as opposed to “boosted” by pills). Better health starts with seeing big-picture immune sabotage, and (thankfully) they are all easy concepts to understand
Your immune system has an army of cells that keep you happy (T and B cells are your main immune fighting cells). And those cells produce an immune response that produces cytokines (friendly protein cells that help your body) and antibodies that destroy foreign pathogens.
Unfortunately, stressors shut down your natural immune response, which means your fighter cells can’t function as they normally do to keep you healthy.
If you need to destress, 10-15 minutes of meditation is a great place to start. If you’re new to it, try. an app like Stop, Breathe & Think, Calm, or Headspace.
Not feeling your inner zen? Here are two additional options with science on their side.
Stress-relief option 1: Take 2 deep breaths when you feel your heart racing, or before you answer a call or have a meeting. According to the Program on Integrative Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, the deep breath will make you sound more confident and reset your heart rate to reduce stress.
Stress-relief option 2: Grab coffee with your friends. Researchers at the University of Bristol in England discovered that when stressed-out men consumed caffeine by themselves, they remained nervous and jittery. But, when they caffeine-loaded as part of a group, their feelings of stress subsided.
Count The Hours You Sleep — Or Else
Sleep deprivation is the other part of the 1-2 combo that can knock out your immune system. If stress stresses out your immune system, then sleep deprivation exhausts your body into making mistakes that leave you vulnerable.
A lack of sleep can prevent your immune cells from making their way to your lymph nodes (where they help you fight disease) or confuse your body and make it harder for them to create the right antibodies to fight back against infection.
How bad can it be? One study showed that regularly sleeping only 6 hours per night makes you four times more likely to catch a cold compared to sleeping 7 hours per night. And the risk gets even worse if you sleep fewer than 5 hours per night.
If you need help improving your sleep, here are a few simple guidelines that can make it easier to fall (and stay) asleep.
Go to bed around the same time every night
Time your sleep in 1.5-hour increments. This is a full cycle, so it will help ensure you don’t wake up in REM sleep, which could leave you groggy and tired.
Sleep in a colder room than your preferred “room temperature.” Some research suggests between 60-70 degrees.
If possible, exercise earlier in the day.
Don’t consume alcohol before you sleep. (Yes, we realize this might be tough sometimes.)
Limit screen time about 1-hour before you sleep.
Clear your mind. Either watch a comedy, do a puzzle, or journal right before you sleep. This will trigger a part of your brain that will help “calm” your thoughts so it’s easier for you to fall asleep.
Movement Might Be The Best Medicine
If you go back in time just 10 years ago, many people believed that exercise actually weakens your immune system. Turns out, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Whether you lift weights, run, cycle, or walk — any type of exercise, especially when combined with more sleep and less stress — is a key part of keeping your immune system functioning well.
Exercise works in many ways to make sure your immune defensive systems can act quickly and effectively, and it can even help offset stress or sleep difficulties. (This all assumes that you’re allowing for proper recovery.)
Recent research found that regular exercise:
Helps the overall health of your immune system
Decreases your risk of illness
Helps mediate the correct inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses
Delays the onset of age-related immune decline
Even better, a review of studies found that movement truly is medicine. From the study conclusion:
Contemporary evidence from epidemiological studies shows that leading a physically active lifestyle reduces the incidence of communicable (e.g., bacterial and viral infections) and non-communicable diseases (e.g., cancer), implying that immune competency is enhanced by regular exercise bouts.
When you exercise, your body recognizes stress. Even though it’s good stress, it’s still a strain on your body, so you produce neutrophils and lymphocytes (the T-cell and natural killer cells we mentioned earlier), which flow throughout your body to keep you strong, fight off invaders, and help create antibodies when necessary.
In other words, exercise helps spark more activity in these cells for about 3-4 hours, which means your body is both more likely to find and disable potentially harmful germs and diseases.
As an added bonus, the cells perform “immune surveillance” and patrol your body searching for infection.
It’s likely the reason why people who exercise regularly (at least 5 times per week) miss nearly 50% fewer days from sickness than those who don’t.
What’s more, exercise has been shown to help decrease stress and improve sleep. In other words, exercise might be the first domino to keeping you healthy because it’s insurance for the other two vulnerabilities (stress and sleep) that weaken your normal immune system function.
Here are bodyweight workouts that can help you get in your movement in any situation or location.
Protein Protects (Much More Than Muscle)
We’ve mentioned how protein plays a role to help keep your body safe. You might think of protein as the key ingredient in muscle building (it is), but — when you look at the bigger picture — protein plays a vital role in every cell in your body. This includes your immune system and helping create the cells that help fight disease.
Proteins are a key component of the very antibodies developed by your immune systems designed to keep you safe. Eating protein ensures that your body has enough of the raw materials needed to allow your immune system to respond to bacteria and viruses in your body.
Proteins (cytokines, in particular) also help ensure that your immune system doesn’t go overboard and start working too hard. It’s all part of a system designed to give your body what it needs and prevent it from targeting your healthy cells.
High-quality complete protein options include:
Dairy products, such as milk, cheese/cottage cheese, and yogurt
Whey protein
Eggs
Seafood and fish
Beef
Chicken
Bison
Pork
Pea Protein
Soybeans
Blended meals (beans and rice)
Vegan protein powders with multiple protein sources
If You Supplement, Focus on Vitamin D
While no one supplement can even come close to providing the benefits of good sleep, less stress, and consistent exercise, there is one vitamin that appears to be more important than others.
More research is still needed, but a lot of emerging data — especially since the COVID-19 pandemic — has suggested that Vitamin D deficiency is closely linked to immune system vulnerabilities.
One study found that taking higher levels of vitamin D (in older individuals) led to a 40 percent decrease in respiratory infections over the course of a year.
This makes sense because Vitamin D is thought to play a vital role in both your innate and adaptive immune response (although scientists are still studying to learn how it all works). And Vitamin D plays an essential part in producing antimicrobial proteins that fight back against sickness, especially in the respiratory tract.
Plus, unlike many vitamins and minerals which can be produced by your body naturally or are rarely deficient, Vitamin D deficiency might impact more than 1 billion people worldwide.
To support your body naturally, try to get about 15-20 minutes of sun per day. If that’s not happening, look towards natural food sources such as:
Fatty fish rich in Omega-3’s, such as salmon or mackerel (or you can use cod liver oil)
Whole eggs
Mushrooms
Milk fortified with Vitamin D
Otherwise, you can use supplements that offer at least 2000-3000 IU of Vitamin D3. (Just be sure to ideally look for products or brands that are NSF Certified for Sport.)
You Booze, You Lose (That’s Your Immune System Speaking)
You won’t hear us telling you to completely avoid alcohol (life happens, and that includes rough days and celebrations). But, if you’re consistently drinking in essence, then your immune system is the one that’s suffering.
If you look at the research (there’s a lot of it), too much alcohol — and binge drinking moments — prevent the normal functioning of your immune system, and it leaves you more susceptible to everything from upper respiratory infections to slower recovery from cuts and muscle injuries.
And, to add insult to injury, it might also alter your gut microbiome in a way that weakens your immune system.
If you find yourself drinking every day — or drinking too much when you go out, take the old 1-2-3 method to establish more control.
Step 1: Carve out non-drinking days. This is a commitment and a way to create guardrails and build habits. (If you know you drink every Friday night, don’t start by removing that day. Make it easy to succeed and build from there.)
Step 2: Remove alcohol from your home. Just like a dieter who struggles with dessert, increasing the difficulty of accessibility makes it easier to drink less.
Step 3: Track your drinks, so you can hold yourself accountable and be honest about how much you’re drinking and how much you need to cut back.
If you love technology, you can try out the Less Drinks app and see if that helps.
The Bottom Line: How to Protect Your Immune System
Remember, no matter how well your immune system functions, if you come in contact with a novel pathogen or virus, you still might get sick. In situations like battling COVID-19, your best line of defense is being smart about your social contact, avoiding touching your face, and washing your hands frequently.
And, while you can’t prevent yourself from getting sick or boost certain aspects of your immune system, you can be sure to do the little things that won’t weaken your immune system or leave you unnecessarily vulnerable.

I tried CBD oil to control my anxiety, and here’s what happened
The first time I ever heard about CBD oil was on a podcast. Then I saw it on a drink menu. Soon it showed up on my favorite website, and as an add-on at my favorite matcha place. It reached the hands of my favorite Instagram influencers, and appeared as a new ingredient in my beauty products. So what is CBD, exactly?
All The Food and Drink Millennials Killed in 2018
It’s advertised as a miracle oil derived from hemp. When applied topically it’s meant to relieve pain. When you vape it, eat it, drink it, or droplet it into your mouth, it reportedly can help treat epileptic seizures, manage anxiety, chill you out or aid in going to sleep. Unlike marijuana, CBD doesn’t get you high. Some swear by its effects, but recently, there has been pushback against it. Some people have even called it “snake oil.” So does it actually work? I had to try.
First things first, I live in Los Angeles. The CBD trend hit both New York and LA, hard. It’s fairly easy to get your hands on CBD oil here — whether you’re popping into Moon Juice, Whole Foods, or even Urban Outfitters. Plus, this is 2019. You can order almost anything online.
Secondly, I have terrible anxiety. I think it is one of my defining characteristics (unfortunately). I am prone to anxiety attacks and I do take a prescribed medication when they become overwhelming. However, I tend to vibrate with nerves most of the time anyway (fun!). I have been trying to combat them with yoga and therapy, but taking an oil every day sounds like a faster fix (or a potential disaster), and at this point in my life I am game for anything!
Lastly, I don’t burn, bro. I don’t 420 blaze it. I’m high on life, baby! No judgement to anyone at all, I just don’t smoke weed. So I would like to reiterate, although CBD is a cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant, it is non-psychoactive and cannot get you high. I repeat, it is not THC. It will not get you high. Dad, are you listening?
I decided to start with Charlotte’s Web, the CBD oil brand I had heard about first on that podcast. I looked them up online and was absolutely shook by the prices of their tinctures. The most expensive one retails for $275 and the cheapest that I could find was $99 (Now they offer a $39.99 option, but they didn’t at the time). So, that’s one thing about most reputable CBD tinctures, they’re not cheap. Luckily, the next day I happened to be shopping at Bristol Farms (a California-based supermarket) and found some on sale for $60.
The brand offers various dosages, so as a first-timer I started with the lowest offered, which is their “Full Strength CDB Oil.” The bottle offers 6.65 milligrams of CBD per milliliter. The flavor was olive oil (although they do offer a Mint Chocolate version online).
I had high hopes, but reader, I could not get past the taste. I am very sensitive to flavors, which is great for some things (like taste-testing Pringles) and bad for others I suppose. I could have tried mint, but honestly, I hate artificial mint flavoring. I abandoned this one after a few days despite the brand’s suggestion that I could put it in something like a smoothie, coffee or yogurt.
Also, I didn’t feel like it was doing anything to me! I had read that consistency is key, but I wanted to be consistent with something that didn’t make me gag when I smelled it — which honestly made me feel more anxious! Apparently, this product has worked for a lot of people. Great news for them! But it’s not for me.
While on my quest to find something tasty that I could take daily, I stopped by Moon Juice — which offers juices as well as coffees and matchas with adaptogenic “dusts.” My local shop offers CBD as a beverage add-in. The brand is still Charlotte’s Web, but they only offer the highest dosage.
I decided “what the heck” and ordered a CBD-infused iced matcha, hoping the flavor of the tea would conceal the olive oil taste. And it did! Not only was the drink tasty as always (I love Moon Juice and am not being paid to say this) but it made this warm feeling spread through my body like a non-sleepy calm, and this was only a single dose. But I wondered if it might just be a placebo effect. Was I just imagining this? Or had something changed?
After some light Googling, I found that the original dosage I had been taking wasn’t high enough. Apparently, the right dosage for your body is a total Goldilocks situation. You may have to try out a few different amounts before you get it just right. I wasn’t imagining things. The higher dosage actually helped.
Soon after, I was able to try a CBD oil tincture from another brand. Our editor-in-chief suggested I try Hawaiian Choice CBD oil, which she'd heard about through a former colleague in Hawaii whose husband launched the company. Their products come in a spray bottle. Each spray delivers 10 milligrams, and the company advises users take one to three sprays and hold it under their tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing. The bottle is expensive — $99, but it’s also flavored with passionfruit, pineapple, noni (a Polynesian fruit), and Big Island honey. Plus, it has a higher dosage than the first Charlotte’s Web product that I tried.
The particular tincture I tried is labeled “Active,” and the bottle says it’s meant to help with exercise and appetite control. It did nothing for my appetite (nor did I want it to) but the flavor situation here is a game changer. It tastes like candy. It also seemed to impact my anxiety levels in a major way. It worked!
After taking this brand’s oil consistently, I’ve noticed that I feel mellowed. Not subdued, mellowed. Now when I wake up and drink a big glass of water and take my allergy pills and my gummy vitamins, I gleefully squirt this CBD oil into my mouth and it helps me to have a more focused, less anxiety-brained morning. It’s not like the anxiety isn’t there, it’s just much quieter and doesn’t radiate through my body. That warm feeling that I got from taking a higher dose is there, and when it’s at its most powerful in my system, I feel looser inside my body (a positive feeling, I swear).
One morning I forgot to take some, and by mid-afternoon I felt that little pit of dread that always seems to well up inside of me shrieking again!
At first, I was confused as to why I needed to leave it under my tongue. Why not just swallow it? But apparently leaving the oil under your tongue has surprising absorption benefits.
According to marijuana education website Nice Paper, “Humans are made of water. Most CBD tinctures are made of oil. Your body is hydrophilic and CBD tinctures are the opposite (hydrophobic, remember, this is a chemistry class)… Of all the ‘oral’ methods [sic] this is one of the better ways to absorb CBD.”
In my research I had seen that CBD can also be applied topically. It’s especially healing for anyone with joint pain and inflammation, as well for people who suffer from migraines. I came across a Sagely Natural’s “Relief & Recovery Headache Roll-On” one day while I was shopping at Urban Outfitters. As someone who sits in front of a computer eight hours a day, I am prone to headaches. I bought it.
The second I got a headache, I busted this Sagely roll-on out and put it on my temples and rolled it across the front of my forehead. Because it’s formulated with the essential oils of peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus, it had an immediate cooling effect. Also, it made me smell like a beautiful forest.
Then the CBD kicked in and the headache lessened. The dull throbbing practically vanished. Applying it topically seemed almost better than ingesting the CBD. I reached out to the company not only to profess my love, but to find out how this product works and why the mainstream (I was shopping at Urban, let’s not mince words here) seems to be gravitating to more holistic health methods like topical CBD.
I spoke with Kerrigan Behrens, co-founder and CMO of Sagely, who told me that their customers are people who are sick of using traditional methods because they’re not natural. “They’re popping Advil or Xanax to get a quick fix — but they’re excited about Sagely Naturals products because they offer them natural alternatives to those types of over-the-counter and prescription drugs,” Behrens said.
She also highlighted that the delivery method is an important factor in how quickly and efficiently the CBD will work in your body.
“The most common form of CBD you’ll find on the market is suspended in oil — i.e. a tincture — which has an oil dropper that you either put under your tongue or a sprayer that sprays directly into your mouth.” She mentioned that if you don’t love the taste of CBD, you can also take CBD capsules.
“The best way to ensure you’re getting the most CBD absorbed into your body (i.e. the highest bioavailability) is to look for capsules that are water soluble,” Behrens said, offering the hot tip. “If you’re using CBD for symptoms like anxiety or sleep, oral applications are usually your best bet.”
Now when I do something like forget to take my tincture, want to dose up because I am feeling more anxious than usual, or feel pain in my body, I have armed myself with a battery of CBD products that I genuinely feel work and make me feel less anxious and achy.
Here are some other things I learned as I researched CBD and my own issues:
The organic beverage company Vybes makes flavored-drinks that include 15 milligrams of CBD. I have been able to find them at quite a few trendy health food shops in LA, New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. I am a big fan of Buddha Teas, which makes various CBD-infused teas that come in convenient little tea bags that I have started drinking most mornings, and they give my dosage a cozy little boost.
Lord Jones makes CBD gumdrops and chocolates as well as tinctures and lotions (that are on the expensive side) that are not only delicious but will melt your anxiety into a puddle of calm. Curious Elixirs does booze-free CBD cocktails that not only chill you out but come in cute bottles so no one will know that you’re not actually drinking alcohol.
If you’re in Los Angeles for any reason, I recommend juice chain Kreation for CBD snacks and beverages. Their CBD brownies are especially a delight. West Hollywood restaurant Gracias Madre also has a beverage menu with a bunch of cool CBD cocktails.
Hawaiian Choice also has a “Relax” tincture that I take before I go to sleep and since taking it regularly, I find that I am sleeping more deeply and for longer hours despite my caffeine intake.
There are a few things you should know about CBD besides my flawless opinion. There is a school of thought that CBD oil actually does nothing. And because CBD products are being produced without regulation, some of them might actually do nothing.
In a recent New York Times op-ed, psychiatrist Richard A. Friedman wrote that “CBD looks more like an expensive placebo than a panacea,” citing a 2017 study in the Journal of the American Medical Asscociation that found that only 26 out of 84 samples of CBD products purchased online contained the amount of CBD advertised on their labels.
The FDA has even issued a warning regarding a few CBD oil brands on the internet who have been dishonest about the amount of CBD listed on their products.
So basically, If you’re not buying from a reputable brand, you could be getting snake oil, because they can put just about anything in there and call it CBD. So do your research before you buy. And even if you are getting the right dosage, there is still a lot of debate about how effective CBD oil is for many types of conditions.
It’s only legal in 30 states, and although it’s a major hit in New York and LA, although the New York City Department of Health began cracking down in February on restaurants that serve CBD as an additive in food.
It’s also a multibillion-dollar industry right now with major names in the food and beauty industry linked to it, including Martha Stewart. According to Forbes, nearly 7 percent of American adults use CBD products, and that number is expected to grow rapidly in the next several years. If CBD hasn’t come to your city yet, just you wait. It’s one of the 20 food trends to look out for in 2019.

Hair
My hair is my favorite accessory, which is why I’ve been obsessed with finding the best vitamins for hair growth. I don’t take my supplements in vain; I take them because I’m vain — and because Lady Godiva locks are my goal. Every morning after I eat breakfast, I swallow a handful of pills that would rival Valley of the Dolls’ Neely O’Hara’s daily allotment.
After testing many combinations, I’ve found a hair growth hack that, I swear, makes my hair grow two inches each month. I take one Viviscal Extra Strength pill (the daily dosage is two), one biotin pill (7,500 mcg), and one folic-acid pill (400 mcg). To make sure I won’t become immune to their effects, I switch out my regular Viviscal cocktail with supplement stunt-doubles like Keratin Booster, MD Nutri Hair, or Phyto’s Phytophanere every few weeks.
Two years ago, I was only taking Viviscal’s original formula in its recommended dose: two pills per day. Since then, a half-dosage (one pill) of Viviscal Extra Strength has become integral to my supplement cocktail. Before incorporating this pill into my daily routine, my hair never grew more than a few inches beyond my shoulder. Ever. In my entire life. No matter what happened. No matter what I changed in my various hippie white-meat-and fish-focused, gluten- and dairy-free diet. Thanks to Viviscal’s aminomar marine complex, in addition to its blend of vitamin C, niacin, and biotin, my hair’s grown much longer, glossier, and thicker.
Viviscal does, however, make my roots a bit oily when I take the full dosage and I’ve also noticed my hair growing faster everywhere. In the case of my suddenly robust eyebrows, this news is well received. In the case of my five-o’clock leg-hair shadow, which I’ve since remedied with a few laser-hair-removal sessions, not so much.
The next pill I throw back is biotin, a water-soluble version of vitamin B. In my informal lab experiment of cutting my Viviscal dosage in half in favor of adding a biotin pill, I found that the oily roots problem became a non-issue and my hair now boasted a bounce I’ve seen Orlando Pita create for Michael Kors ads. It yielded the same effect as an application of root-lifting spray and backcombing at the root — and people have noticed.
However, Dr. Dennis Gross notes, “[Biotin is] a more popular hair-growth vitamin, but I am skeptical about the clinical data out there. Biotin supplements show best results if you’re already deficient. You can naturally find biotin in nuts, eggs, and leafy greens.” Perhaps my diet wasn’t rich enough in biotin.
Gross recommends topical supplements, ingredients applied directly to the skin. “These are the most effective means of preventing aging and treating existing conditions. Consider how much volume and surface area an ingested vitamin supplement must cover as it’s diluted by the entire bloodstream and then covers the entire body,” Gross explains. “For instance, the math analysis shows that a 2 percent vitamin C gel applied directly to the face is 200 times more potent than consuming a 600 milligram vitamin C pill.”
His hair-care suite includes a shampoo containing salicylic acid, which helps in “reducing the number of pore blockages in the skin. For your hair, it helps to exfoliate the scalp — ridding it of oils, dirt, and debris — allowing for optimum hair growth.” The line also includes peptides, retinol, azelaic acid, adenosine, and procyanidin-B2.
Lastly, Gross says to be cautious: “Don’t take more than recommended by the FDA or what is written on the labels. Be sure not to take more than the label tells you to. More is not better when it comes to this.”
His own supplement cocktail includes GLA, which stands for gamma linolenic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid. “It is considered an essential fatty acid since it is necessary for human health, but the body cannot make it itself — you must get them through food or supplements. GLA helps to stimulate skin and hair growth among other things. It’s a good supplement to take in the wintertime,” he notes.
If you’d rather score your biotin from your food directly, nutritionist and wellness expert Cathy Wong, notes that “Biotin is found in a variety of foods such as milk, bananas, cauliflower, cooked eggs, legumes, nuts, sardines, and whole grains, and it can also be produced by bacteria in the large intestine.” Bottom line? Biotin isn’t dangerous if you stick to the recommended dosage and clear it with your physician before taking it. However, topical supplements and nutrition represent an alternate route to lengthy locks, if you don’t have a penchant for pills.
Prenatal or folic-acid pills have long been recommended, even for those who aren’t with child, for thick, healthy hair, but Wong says to beware. “While they contain folic acid, they do also have larger amounts of iron, which I don’t recommend, unless there is documented iron-deficiency anemia. There is no evidence that they can help, and generally, I am cautious about recommending iron because it is a pro-oxidant (the opposite of an antioxidant) and may contribute to diseases of aging such as atherosclerosis and diabetes.” That said, folic acid influences biotin metabolism, according to a study conducted by the University di Bologna. “After an injection of folic acid, biotin-deficient rats showed greater alterations of the urinary excretion and liver storage of folate derivatives than did control rats. On the basis of these results, it was hypothesized that biotin influences folic-acid metabolism and particularly for the utilization of the biosyntheisis of coenzymatic derivatives.” In short? My addition of folic acid keeps me from pissing away, literally, the benefits of my biotin.
Pill poppers who want to save time in the most Mealprep Mondays–inspired way can invest in three large, seven-day pill cases, available at Amazon, and fill them up once every three weeks. You’ll feel like an octogenarian, but an efficient one. Or invest in one of the many hair-care supplements now on the market. The cocktailing is already done for you, occasionally in gummy form and with specific mixes of ingredients to suit a variety of hair-care needs in addition to boosting overall growth.
If punctuating your sentences with strategic hair flips is your ultimate goal, I maintain that it’s what’s inside that counts, and these six hair vitamins for growth will help. Just be sure never to take any of these on an empty stomach — no matter how lengthy your locks, looking nauseated is never chic.

Level-headed Secrets In Iso Xp Grass Fed Whey Described
Fundamental Details In Grass Fed Organic Whey Canada Info
The fourth ingredient varies based on the flavor: organic cocoa for chocolate, organic vanilla for vanilla, freeze-dried banana powder for banana. Note the lack of artificial sweeteners; by whey(!) of example, Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard has nine ingredients and Muscletech’s Premium Gold has twenty, both including sucralose and neither including whatever comprises “natural and artificial flavors.” I should point out that lots of ingredients isn’t necessarily bad. But if you would rather steer clear of foods with a zillion ingredients, this could be your protein. I tried vanilla, chocolate, and banana, and each time I was surprised at how pleasant they tasted despite the absence of the sweeteners to which I’m so accustomed. I’m a guy who really likes artificially-sweetened protein powder. I literally own separate tubs of donut-flavored and white chocolate-flavored Gold Standard Whey. I mix them into everything. Sucralose is my favorite food group. These tasted great. The mildest, of course, was vanilla. Next to ON’s vanilla ice cream flavor and their milder vanilla crème flavor, Earth Fed Muscle’s offering did little more than make my almond milk taste more like regular milk.

Looking For Fitness Advice That Works? Try These Ideas!
There are many different things under the umbrella of fitness. Fitness is working out, eating healthy foods, visiting gyms, learning martial arts, and more. When it comes to getting fit, there are a lot of different options. This article has advice that can help you find what you need to create a fitness plan that works for you. Many people look to lifting weights as a means to reach their fitness goals. However, for complete fitness, you need to work all of the muscles in your body, not just your arms. Implement an workout routine that you will have no problem sticking too. If you choose an activity you like, you will love working out. Crunches alone won't help you build abs. You should not waste your time with crunches if you are trying to lose weight, it takes a quarter million of them to lose a pound! Therefore, you are not maximizing your time if you are strictly doing crunches. Vary your abdominal exercises for superior results. Try different types of fitness classes to keep yourself excited and motivated. Changing things often will give you the chance to discover new things you like and will keep you happy with what you're doing. Try out yoga or dancing. If you really want to get creative you could try a kickboxing class. You should remember that after you do one, you will be eventually losing weight. If you are looking to strengthen your legs, try wall sits. First, you need an unobstructed wall that is at least the width of your body. Position yourself one and a half feet from the wall. While bending your knees, lean back until you touch the wall with your entire back. Slide down the wall into a sitting position that creates a 90-degree angle with your upper and lower legs. Try to hold this position as long as possible. If you perform repetitive movements, try counting backwards from your desired total. This gives you an idea of just how many exercises you still have left and help keep your motivation level up. An excellent workout is kickboxing. Kickboxing is an amazing workout that will have you sweating immediately but feeling great afterwards. Not only will this type of exercise burn calories, it will help you build strength. Learn how to do box squats and add a great exercise to your routine. If you want to have explosive power, try doing box squats. The only extra item you need is the box that you would need to put behind you while doing your squats. Perform the squat you would normally, but pause while about to sit on the box. Enhance your workout by doing some classic sit-ups as well as your crunches when working your abdominal muscles. Sit-ups have become unpopular in recent years. Be sure to avoid doing anchored-feet sit-ups. This type of exercise can be hard on your back. Always cycle at a steady pace. You will get tired quicker if you pedal faster. Keep a simple and steady pace in order to build endurance. You will keep yourself from getting tired faster if you do this. Pedaling at a steady, but brisk pace can better inform you if you're close to injury since you'll most likely feel pulling. As this article said, fitness is something that encompasses a ton of different things. While there are certain things that must be avoided -or included- in any routine, there are just as many things that can be customized to meet your needs. With any luck, the information you've just read has helped to demystify all things fitness-related.
Helpful Guidelines For Rapid Methods For Canada
bankruptcy court filing submitted by Toys “R” on Thursday. Fairfax would then have the option of either increasing its offer or walking away. Under the terms of the deal, Fairfax would receive a break fee of about 3 per cent if another bidder is chosen. After the takeover, Fairfax would be able to continue operating Toys “R” Us stores in Canada under the existing name. The deal would follow a Fairfax-backed consortium’s purchase of athletic equipment maker Performance Sports Inc. last year, a process that was also overseen by a bankruptcy court. Toys ‘R’ Us is a shell of its old self. How it got this way is a lesson for retail Shares of Toronto-based Fairfax rose 0.4 per cent to $674 in Toronto at 9:55 a.m. and are up 11 per cent in the past 12 months. That compares with a loss of 1 per cent for Canada’s benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index. Earlier this week, Toys “R” Us turned away an offer from the founder of MGA Entertainment Inc. to keep some of its North American stores open, a person familiar with the matter said at the time. Do your best to eat a diet that is both healthy and balanced. Try getting between five and seven portions worth of fresh produce daily, along with small protein portions. Supplements can make up for anything you are missing. When taking a supplement that lists fat as an ingredient, take it with food. Vitamins A, K and E are a few examples of vitamins that cannot be properly absorbed unless you take Whey Protein them with food. Try to take them food that contains fat. To get enough vitamin D, drink milk and go out in the sun. You should take vitamin D if you're not a milk lover and/or you don't spend lots of time under the sun. This vitamin is good for keeping your bones from becoming brittle, so they don't break as easily. Iron is the key mineral to helping build healthy red blood cells. These cells transport oxygen to areas of your body. Women require more iron than men, so you are likely to find these supplements packed with more of this mineral. Iron deficiency often causes exhaustion and breathing problems. Though we may try to eat well, sometimes our budget doesn't allow us to. Adding supplements to your diet helps to counteract the harmful effects of fats, preservatives, and other harmful substances. Refrain from consuming prenatal vitamins when you pass menopause. Many women choose to take the vitamins for their hair or nails. Though this might be safe, post-menopausal women can receive too much iron by taking them. If you're an adult that desires the gummy vitamins like those for kids, you can take them, too. Adults' vitamin needs are higher than children's so one is generally not enough. However, don't take too many. That is not good, either. It is important to question any information you get about mineral and vitamin supplements. Remember that companies are in business to make money, not to help your look out for you health. Question all the information you read or hear. If you aren't sure, ask your doctor. Use caution when using supplements. With vitamins and minerals, you can overdose. This dangerous situation usually occurs when too many supplements are taken. Symptoms of an overdose vary, depending on which vitamin you have taken. However, the consequence is not a good one and can even kill you. You must understand that any over-the-counter medications you take can sometimes negatively interact with vitamin supplements. They can even threaten your life. It is important to alert your physician to all vitamins and supplements that you ingest. Make sure the pharmacist tells you about any possible adverse effects from OTC medications. As you can see, it's important to get the right vitamins and minerals every day. Nutrition deserves full attention for both adults and children. Remember the simple tips above and use them to ensure everyone in your home is getting the vitamins and nutrients they need to be strong and healthy.

A Spotlight On Reasonable Secrets In Stevia Sweetened Iso Xp
A Background On Painless Grass Fed Organic Whey Canada Tactics
Whey from the milk of grass-fed cows contains no GMO residues, unlike animals raised on GMO grains. Sweetened or not? Instead of protein powders sweetened with sugar or substitutes, I prefer unsweetened whey. The fruit you’ll add to smoothies or shakes supplies natural sweetness without empty calories. Flavored or plain? Rather than buying vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or whatever powder, go with the basic powder and add your own natural flavors. Heat processed or cold processed? When protein is heated — a process called denaturing — it can make the amino acids less bioavailable. Whey dried without heat leaves the protein intact. There are many brands out there, so stick to one that is labeled 100% Whey and doesn’t sport any unrecognizable ingredients on its label. My personal favorite is Source Organic Whey , which is unflavored, unsweetened and contains no coloring agents. You can find it on Amazon and at many Whole Foods and all Sprouts Farmers Markets.

Getting Fit: Great Advice For A Healthy Body
People sometimes feel that improving health and fitness is virtually impossible. But you can make serious fitness improvements much more easily than you think. If you are ready to commit yourself to a fitness program, read this article and start working on reaching the next level of your fitness program. You should not lift weights for more than an hour at a time. After an hour, your body stops building muscle and goes into preservation mode. For these reasons you want to try to stick to under an hour with strength training. Participate in a wide variety of fitness programs to maintain interest in your workout program. You might just discover a new favorite class to keep your excitement level up as you go to the gym. Try taking yoga or attending a dance class. Try kickboxing or boot-camp classes. Keep in mind that you only need try each type of class one time, and you will lose weight while you are doing it. It's a great idea to jot down a few notes about your day's exercise in a fitness journal. Note your workouts and anything else that you engage in. If you wear a pedometer, you can also record your steps each day and constantly strive to increase your count. Seeing everything in writing will help you to determine what is working best for you and will best help you toward your goals. When doing any exercise that you need to keep a count of, begin with the target number and count backwards from there. Counting down lets you keep track of how many reps are left, and it can be more motivating than counting the other direction. Wear comfortable shoes that fit you well when exercising. You should always buy your workout shoes during the evening since your feet are actually a little larger during this time of day. There should be about .5inches of space between your big toe and the front of the shoe. Check to be sure that you can move your toes a bit. Only Whey Protein gently workout the muscles that you had exercised the day before. You can use the same exercise you normally use but with only a fraction of the weight. Before lifting weights for your arms, think about the specific goals you want to receive. If you want bigger muscles lift heavy weights. In order to sculpt and tone your arms, you should be doing more reps of lighter weights. If you're suffering from a sprain in your muscles, it's important to apply ice to the affected area. Ice minimizes swelling and redness. You will also want to keep the sprain up so you get the blood going to it. Make sure not to put the ice directly on the skin; instead, wrap it in a towel first. Ensure you add plenty of variety to your daily workout. There are many reasons why variety is important. Number one is that you want to avoid becoming bored. Also, if your body becomes too adjusted to the same old exercises, it will not have to work as hard. Therefore, you will not see as many results. New exercises in your routine on a regular basis can help keep it fresh. You can exercise as you clean. If you're already bending down to wipe up a spill, do a few lunges or squats. Try doing pushups sometimes, as well. Do small rounds of physical activity whenever you can and you'll notice your fitness increasing rapidly. Achieving your fitness goals is worth the work you put in. You can help your overall body function, as well as your appearance by working out regularly. When you are fit, you can live a full life and deal with all necessary tasks with ease.
The Key To Picking Out Crucial Factors For Canada
Now a new analysis from the Bank of Montreal shows the boom is benefitting people in all regions of the country. A year ago, the highest-ranking cities in BMO's Labour Market Report Card were primarily places near Toronto and Vancouver, beneficiaries of a major housing boom. But now, cities from all regions of the country are showing up on the rankings, as jobs prospects improve from Atlantic Canada to the Prairies. Watch: The best and worst cities in Canada for job-hunting BMO sees some "convergence" in the job market in the first quarter of 2018, with economically weaker parts of the country catching up to the stronger ones. But as is always the case with Canada's economy, the regional differences are still broad. The jobless rate in March sat at 8.8 per cent in Barrie, Ont., the highest in the country, while Quebec City enjoyed the lowest jobless rate, at a stunning 3.6 per cent. So what's the best city in Canada to find a job? Um, that would be Moncton, New Brunswick, according to BMO — population 72,000. The city has rocketed to first place in BMO's rankings, from last place (33rd) last year, with the number of jobs spiking by nearly 10 per cent in a year. That "will probably raise some eyebrows," admits BMO senior economist Robert Kavcic, "but keep in mind these smaller cities can move a lot (i.e., last to first in the past year in this case)." Kavcic noted that "while the city has attracted some increased business investment, the level of employment sat near a six-year low at one point last year (hence the high growth rate)." Other surprises on the list include Oshawa, Ont. at third place — up 16 spots in a year, and not bad for a factory town struggling with the decline of manufacturing.

Ways To Maximize The Benefits Of Vitamins And Minerals
It is not easy to achieve your health goal. You need to make sure that you are making the right choices, and that starts with learning everything you can. Start the process by reading over the following excellent tips about vitamins and minerals in the article below. Vitamins are essential in helping you get the most from your exercise plan. You'll recover faster, nourish your muscles, and burn more fat. There is a process for the body to perform before you experience the effects of vitamins. This makes it imperative that you understand the benefits of each, as well as how they work in combination with others. For instance, iron cannot be absorbed if calcium is taken at the same time. Additionally, you should not wash down your iron pill with a glass of milk or take an antacid medication within half an hour of taking iron. The first step to proper nutrition is eating a balanced, healthy, whole foods diet. Get five to seven servings of produce each day. Also, get some protein. If this is not possible for you, mineral supplements and vitamins may be for you. Supplements with fats should always be taken with some food. Vitamins E, K and A are vitamins that do not absorb into the body without the help of food. The best way to help your body absorb them is to eat some food with some fat. Many people end up with aching bodies without realizing why they ache. Before you call the doctor for an appointment, take some vitamins or supplements each day. Fish oil and vitamin E are awesome ways to help your muscles out because they can soften them when they're strained or taut. People would like to eat healthy, but cannot afford it. Supplements delivering necessary vitamins and minerals will help reduce some of the issues we have from eating. They help with digestion and promote weight loss and fat burning when we need a little help in getting the body in shape. Vitamin A has a variety of great benefits for you. However, it can be poisonous if you take too much, so stick to about 2300 IU. Carrots, squash, and dark leafy greens contain ample supplies of vitamin A. Do not take any prenatal vitamins if you are already past the age of menopause. Non-pregnant women often take these types of vitamins for their nails and hair. While this is generally safe, they are not a good idea for post-menopausal women since they contain more iron than necessary. Citrus fruits and some veggies are very high in Vitamin C. Supplements are perfect for those who do not receive the recommended daily allowance in their food. Vitamin C boosts the immune system to fight off such diverse problems as the common cold, skin problems, acne, infections, gum disease and more. In addition, some studies have shown that vitamin C can aid those suffering from ADHD, Alzheimers disease, and dementia. An adult who would like to take a children's gummy vitamin, should take more than one. Adults' vitamin needs are higher than children's so one is generally not enough. Be careful, though, because too many vitamins can be bad. Use only reputable sources when it comes to vitamins and minerals. Many advertisements are specifically geared towards selling you a product, not towards your health. You should go into any potential purchase with serious doubts when the claims seem extraordinary. If you doubt anything, speak with a doctor before taking a vitamin or mineral supplement. There is plenty of great advice here that will clue you in on the benefits of vitamins and minerals. Start with baby steps, picking up new tips here and there like you've done today. Just use these tips and enjoy!

This post about how to enjoy healthy living is brought to you by vitafusion™ and L’il Critters™. All opinions are my own.
The older I get, the more I realize that I need to make time to enjoy life every single day. My kids are growing up so quickly and it seems like only yesterday that they were babies! I want to seize the day, eat dessert first, and live for the moment. Of course, I also want to stay healthy so I need to find a bit of balance in my life, right? Well, it IS possible to live healthily and enjoy life all at the same time. Keep reading for a few tips on how to enjoy healthy living and love every moment of your better for you lifestyle!
How to Enjoy Healthy Living
Healthy living doesn’t always sound fun. Who wants to eat broccoli when they can have ice cream, right? Well, I think the key is to make a few simple changes to those healthy choices so that you actually enjoy them. Here are a few goals that I am setting for myself in the coming months:
Explore new foods:
I admit it, I am in a rut. I cook the same 10 or 12 recipes all the time and wonder why I am so darn tired of healthy food. This week, my husband printed out a couple of new recipes to try. I have never actually cooked with plantains and am looking forward to trying something new. If you don’t enjoy healthy food, maybe you need to try a new recipe this week!
Exercise with friends:
I tend to just head to the gym or use the rowing machine upstairs to exercise. It’s not the most exciting time of my life. I need to find more friends to walk with or head to the park with my husband when he goes running. Some days I feel like I am completely cut off from my friends and I need to make more time for them.
Find healthier substitutes
If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I have a particular weakness for cheese puffs and soda. Two totally NOT healthy foods. I have slowly been trying to substitute natural sodas and baked, organic cheese puffs for my guilty pleasures. Make other healthier choices in your diet so that you don’t miss the junk as much.
Take a day off
I see comments online quite a bit that ‘cheat days’ are a bad thing for your diet. Honestly, I sort of disagree with that logic. I love sorbet and fresh fruit as much as the next girl but some days I just want a hot fudge sundae and that is totally okay. Some days I am tired and no matter how much I enjoy healthy living, I just don’t have the energy to go to the gym. I am going to do what I can to live healthily and try to not feel guilty on the days that I just need a mental health day full of junk food and TV marathons.
Take your (gummy) vitamins
I take a lot of vitamins and supplements. My cabinet is stocked with an assortment of them that I take several times throughout the day. Do you have any clue how much I hate taking vitamins? Some of them are gigantic, leave a gross taste in my mouth, and/or make me slightly nauseous. I have been slowly searching for gummy versions of as many of my vitamins as possible. They are GUMMIES! I love gummies. Now I can get my added nutrients along with chewy, sweet goodness all the same time!
