sometimes i feel like toby fox made spamton and the addisons especially for people to hyperfixate on. everything about them seems so perfect for people to go rabid about its insane to me

for one, spamton himself pretty much counts for 4 people, those being addispam, big shot spamton, in game spamton, and spamton neo. now sure you mostly see people going rabid about in game spamton but ive seen plenty of people who are obsessed with a version we dont get to see on screen

secondly, even the main in game spamton himself is kinda up to interpretation. loads of people characterise him differently. if i compared two aus to eachother theyd often be very different and depending on the ones i chose could be almost like 2 different people, and then if i compared those to in-game spamton, theyd still be very different. also since you dont see addispam and big shot spamton on screen you dont even know what they acted like so again basically you can make your own guy to fixate on with a few prompts as to what he was like

dont even get me started on the addisons. now im biased as fuck here seeing that ive been fixated on the addisons for like 6 months now (send help) but toby fox basically gave us 4 templates for us to have fun with. sure based off of in game dialogue you have a bit to go off of when it comes to their personality (pink being an asshole and blue being caring for example) but even then every addison in every different au is slightly different and i have never seen two addisons turn out exactly the same. ALSO you dont even know the relationship these characters have to spamton meaning you can have them be siblings, you can have them be friends, or you can ship them based off of what you enjoy. OR you could just ignore them altogether (which a lot of people do lmao)

also another thing is the fact that you dont necessarily need to have your addisons' personalities just reflect off of spamtons. I mean the main 4 addisons give you enough to go off of to make your own, and you are given cyber city, an entire fantasy world for you to put them in. cyber city again is up to interpretation, some people have it be like a normal city, some people make it a utopia, some people make it a hellscape. the choice is yours!!

and even then in game spamton is so versatile. he is perfect for angsty stuff, fluffy stuff, or jsut silly stuff, and none of it is out of character. you couldnt really make an angsty spongebob edit could you, itd be weird and out of characer and no one would take it seriously. but also you couldnt make a silly walten files video, sure people do but its out of character and wouldnt actually happen canonically. but spamton on the other hand. hes the kinda guy who you can draw holding a wallet in his mouth like a cat and generally being silly but also you could draw him sobbing at the bottom of dumpster and neither would be out of character!! AAAA

also extra thing i thought id add but his backstory is also very up to interpretation, like i dont think ive ever seen two people who think spamtons rise and downfall went exactly the same. sure everyone has the same general idea of how it went but some people believe in acid theory, some people believe in puppetification theory, some people have a mix of both, some people have their own idea of how it went down, and with that you can project different parts of your own trauma onto whatever happened to him.

i've found your account only a few days ago but ever since then I've been STUCK here rereading your fanfics, especially ones with damian. i wasn't even a dc fan (heard about some stuf, watched some films and cartoons, but that's it) but now im reading comics since im Obsessed and need more batboys in my life (rip my productivity😔)

Anyway, after Sleepover i'm curious what will Bruce (and maybe even Thalia) think of batboys strange behaviour towards reader. He's smart, so he definitely notices it early on, but how he'll react....

I can see him being weirded out (like he was by Jason's anger issues, before his death), but he also can be an enabler, since Robin (literaly any of them) had a hard life, so if those relationships can help him why not pretend that everything is normal? you'll be safer in a Wayne's Manor anyway

mmm yes..... when it comes to bruce noticing the batboys are yandere, i think it's always sinfully delightful to just have him be reluctantly okay with it. 😈 it's also easier narratively ngl but i also like the idea that the batfam is all just corrupted.

bruce's thoughts are that they (his sons) fight for vengeance and justice but this is where they could use some leeway.... we all need our vice... they fight so hard for gotham, they deserve a little treat (getting rid of your human rights)... it's very "Dad who wants his sons to have happiness even if its not healthy" of him. in fics where bruce is a yandere, well, he's the exact same way so he can't judge. although if that's the case, i like the idea of bruce just being like "yes what we do isn't right. let's not talk about it. just don't kill <3"

still wondering what i like more. a yan!bruce who's self aware what he's doing is wrong but he just refuses to think about it. or a yan!bruce that justifies it all because of his paranoia, Tower of Babel style (if you don't know, that's when it's revealed batman has plans to subdue/kill the justice league just in case they go rogue.)

for the batboys depends on their personality... for damian, he's so resolute in things that i prefer when he just believes 100% what he's doing is okay, if not actually righteous. ^_^

that's an easy one! my dimension 20: mentopolis fic (whale fall) was written before the finale and was my guess as to what would happen w one of the pairs of characters, and its very sweet and wholesome i think :3

no!!! actually a secret about me in that my almost 10 years posting art fanfics etc online i have never gotten a single negative comment on anything ive made. i feel very lucky :)

never have and never will (nothing wrong with it in most contexts but im asexual and smut is extremely Not My Thing. i actually tried writing a smut fic once to challenge myself a few years ago and spent like 1000 words describing the way the candles were lit in their bedroom before i realized its simply not for me and thats fine)

people always tell me that im really good at capturing character's voices and personalities and making them feel in character?? i always want my stories to feel like something that could actually happen in-universe and make it make sense with the characters etc. i think part of this comes from working w/ my own ocs and thinking so hard about how different people express and communicate things and then applying that to other characters is easy. and bcuz of how my autism works i can memorize how a person or character constructs sentences and create new sentences inside my head in their voice :D i really pay attention to peoples speaking patterns & how they phrase things

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

probably how perfectionist i am about grammar and using certain words phrases punctuation etc that it takes FOREVER to get anything done. i also think im too wordy. i can turn a fifteen word sentence into a fifty word sentence easily which is great for essays but kinda annoying when you're reading a silly bobs burgers fanfic

Hey! I saw that you like Death Note. With Death Note, I've noticed that recently there's been somewhat of a spike in Death Note fans. Not that much, but still. This fandom seems to be somewhat reviving itself, since a lot of the posts I've seen were newer than I thought they'd be. Do you think that's actually happening or is it all in my head? Also: I've noticed that fans tend to differ wildly in their opinions of L, his sense of morality, and how much was an act/lie. Some people think L has a strong sense of justice, similar to Light. Some think L has very few morals and does mostly what interests. Personally, I believe it's a bit of both. He seems to mostly do as he wants to, but he does show empathy for the task members occasionally. What type of morality do you think L has? (sorry if this is a loaded question, I've been very curious about this for a long time, since a lot of people disagree on it)

RAUGH. I have such a hard time talking about like.... cool in depth meta because i think im the dumbest death note fan perhaps. lmao. not really, i just think other people have probably verbalized what I think in ways that I never properly could, but I'll give it a go :>

1- I have no idea!! Honestly I feel like the death note fandom has never really died, although it really does go through dips and valleys in terms of members' activity. It probably is dependent on new adaptions being released, death note coming up in other pop culture spheres and getting people interested, and cringe culture dying. For me, my return to the death note fandom was really the last one, along with me just being more confident about my interests lol. I also think that there's a new generation of people who are into anime and not as deeply ashamed of it as some older folks might have been at that age and i think its great!! tbh overall i probably don't have the best gauge of the exact growth and diminishment of the fandom because i take a break every couple of months whenever i drown in some other random hyperfixation lol. but i always come back :) death note is pretty timeless! its neat!!

2- and here is where i repeat again that I'm definitely not like. a great meta writer with super fresh and interesting ideas (which is kinda weird because one of the main points of appeal of death note for a lot of the fans is the meta and analysis and theories and whatever. but idk im just not creative :') ) but I'll give you my take lol

Analyzing L as a character can be really frustrating to me because... let's face it, O&O don't write incredibly deep characters. All of the characters in Death Note tend to fit roles and tropes rather than being super three dimensional studies of incredibly complex personalities. The purpose of L's existence in death note is to serve as an adversary to Light, our protagonist, antagonist, anti-hero, whatever. Light's existence is to propel the plot. We see Light specifically stray very far away from whatever his actual personality or character could have evolved into as he is transformed by the death note. You could say that while Light used the Death Note for his own purposes, the Death Note essentially used Light. Both the actual book. in the show. and the show. The characters exist solely to further the plot and tell the story, and little focus is put on their more intimate profiles. idk how to really put this part of my response into words eloquently, but that's that.

Which brings me back to L. because i get sidetracked very easily. L is used to further the plot, but we're left to question his motivations and his inner profile as O&O did not elaborate on that. Annoyingly.

I personally like to think of L as just... a guy. doing his job. Like how a lawyer would do their job. He takes on cases because he likes the challenge, and he allows himself to feel triumph when he 'wins.' Because our worlds are shaped by the presence of other people, despite the fact that L seems very antisocial and picks and chooses when to follow moral/ethical standards, he still does rely on the general concept of 'justice' in order to get some gratification from his work.

He's just a guy who has way too much fucking money and time on his hands, and he's way too smart for his own god. All of those things will give you a bit of a god complex, so I see L as someone who is based in the desire to do good/gain approval of others but is less fettered by things like.... laws...... social norms... the opinions of a lot of people. How could you not take on some big bad villain like Kira, saving the lives of thousands of people, and not allow yourself to feel like you've done something good? That you're a bringer of justice? That's just a really powerful feeling that I don't think L would be afraid to indulge in. Like I said, he just isn't as fettered as most people, and he has an insane amount of resources at his disposal.

I think empathy is a different subject, as it's separate from having a sense of morality or justice (I struggle HARD with empathy but I have a very strong sense of justice. probably not how everyone else thinks of justice, but yknow.) As someone who is so clearly on the spectrum/neurodivergent, I think that we as the audience are also meant to understand that L does not experience normal levels of empathy in comparison to the other characters, especially Misa and Matsuda. I think his lack of empathy is not (as is unfortunately mischaracterized in a lot of meta/fanfic) primarily emotional. L is shown to have emotions-- fear, embarrassment, anger, happiness, and he is shown to understand when other characters are acting based on their own emotions. That being said, L does behave coldly at times, and he always maintains a distance from himself and his coworkers. He can seem detached, and I think we can't forget that that is again, just part of his job. Being a detective means that you cannot get wrapped up in your work emotionally. He's very good at his job.

His primary lack of empathy is in respect to his general understanding of socialization. He is clearly not someone who's had many relationships-- Light is his first friend, and the thought of falling in love with Misa seems to really knock him backwards. He's just very socially inexperienced. Tying it all together though, I think that L does understand emotions, he has them, he can empathize with his co-workers, and he does care about them to a certain degree-- He's just very good at being able to put all that shit aside and do his damn job.

ooooh thats SUCH an interesting question, since yeah i read in both french and english and theres definitely a difference in experience tbh, first of all like i cant explain how but french and english have inherently different vibes so even reading the same book in both languages feels different you know? also even if i consider myself fluent in english, still happens that if im tired or a bit distracted, it will be harder for me to read and i still need to look up words sometimes lmao so depending on the written style of the book it could be less smooth for me but usually its no problem. also i have to say, i used to think that english would feel less “pretty” or flowy or poetic and you know what? i was wrong as hell lmao, and im so glad ive been getting more into english-language literature! but yeah basically idk how to say it except.......different languages different Vibes™ it just is different atmospheres lol

okaaay so !!! super pertinent because see, i couldnt even tell you which one i read more in (like i own more french books physically, but i own more english ebooks, because easier to find in general. honestly i’d say it probably comes pretty even in general, and i dont have any specific feelings about it lol. if a book is originally in english i read it in english, otherwise it just depends. usually classics i will read in french, and others just. basically whatever language i can find, i will say tho for some reason i usually prefer reading theatre in english. i also go through phases sometimes my brain feels wired more in the mood to read in french, sometimes in english. but yeah as a whole? idk which language i read more in lmao

okayyyyy so. i DEFINITELY read more fiction no questions asked here lmao however i do enjoy non-fiction a lot, its just i dont tend to read it cover to cover (unless its like. stuff im hyperfixating on lol like just blasting through a yuri gagarin biography LMAO) but yeah usually non fiction is like. i enjoy exploring a specific chapter or something, so a lot of non-fiction i never finish or it takes years and years just bc i like look things up sometimes or im in the mood to learn more about xyz specific things. i used to read a lot more non fiction tho when i was like 16-17-18 y/o i read mostly non-fiction lmao i cant tell you why tho lol just. a Mood of mine. but yeah nowadays... fiction 10000% and as to where i draw the line. like. if it has a narrative track of some sort its fiction, and well ofc if its ... fiction lmfao. so like not about Real Events/People and/or Romanticized™ or Novelized™ form of said real events/people, i know it can be tricky w historical stuff but basically if its not like informative, specialized, factual text... i will prooobably put it in fiction

and me, i’d like to become a psychologist some day, so that’s pretty far from history as well haha but i never want the enthusiasm to die ever and i’m really loving how the two of us can just scream to each other about history in every single ask/answer :D

- maria stuart by stefan zweig (german author, so it shouldn’t be too hard for you to find it!!)

- red crosses by sasha filipenko (fiction about the stalinist regime)

- the age of light by whitney scharer (historical fiction again lmao; tells the story of photographers lee miller and man ray’s romance in the 30s with little snippets into wwii through lee’s pov; the writing was stunning)

- sapiens by yuval noah harari (basically the history of mankind; so informative and enjoyable, i adored it)

- the real peaky blinders by carl chinn (what the title says, really; the actual gangs of birmingham and their not so shiny careers)

these are the best ones i read in 2020 but i’ll let you know if i remember any of my other reads!!

i also haven’t read any actual books about the 1917 revolution because i haven’t really had the chance to go to the library yet and i’ve been busy doing my research on the internet haha (it’s a fairly new hyperfixation of mine, to be frank). however, i’ll hit you up if i find anything worthwhile <3

thats cool that we have the russian revolution and vicxtorian era as common interest ^^ i read a book recently its called “the ordeal” and its a triology written by alexej tolstoi during the times of the revolution. its a story about two sister and their love interests during the war times and its really good!!! 

oh i barely know anything about the tudors! pls hmu

ah yes.. the cold war... i have to admit im rather interested in the music and sociology of the cold war times but the political stuff is super interesting too! esp as you said from an east european view, so we can talk about that too!

yep. monarchy sucks! i understanbd from like a logical point of view why they shot them all, but the human side of me thinks its just cruel.. i mean yeah tsar nicholas wasnt a good politician but he wasnt a bad person either. but yeah, a difficult topic.. tbh he´s the only romanov im really interested in (i really dislike his wife alexandra tho lmao) hbu?

englands history really fascinates me, and i honestly cant tell you why... but it is what is is hahhaa! nand duuudeeee omg they fucked so many shit up.. the british are a funny nation. but honestly none is unproblematic and every nation screwed up big time once:D judging is really important when youre intereste din history! like im interested in king george and queen mary but not solely for political reasons, more actually for their personal lives and victorian times and how they were as a couple, but i know... they did bad stuff too!

omg teach me some shakespearean insults pls! i only know a few victorian ones! and a bit of sixties slang :D 

im gonna reblog this and add some russian phrases bc my russian keyboard in on my phone :) but i use duolingo so the sentences are ... really weird lmao

im studying physical geography in Erlangen right now and am in my 7th semester.) im actually writing my bachelor thesis rn UGHHHHHHH

ohhhhh psychology is cool!! im really intersted in it, sadly i cant ever be one bc i suffer from poor mental health too much myself, in fact i have an appointment my therapist in a few minutes haha BUT i think youre super trustworthy and nice and easy to talk to so these are really good qualities for a therapist <3<3<3<3
