hgk is such an important series to me, one that highlights a lot of whats wrong with the world, being built around ability, and the struggles with coming to terms with a disability you werent born with.

between people thinking they can fix you, to thinking they can solve all your struggles to just talking to you to feel better about themselves, it is not easy to want to trust ablebodied people and let them into your space. you get tired of politely avoiding them or telling them no, i dont want your help and its especially because i dont know you and ive seen people act the way you do and either get angry that i cant do everything you want to do because of my disability or get angry when they cant fix you (because not every disability can be fixed and you are not some savior) or just straight up get bored when the novelty wears off.

theres is several instances of assumptions and miscommunication in the series that feel genuinely human. this series isnt meant to be a lighthearted, surface level story about a guy who is disabled and the person he falls in love with. it has so many layers about struggling as a person, understanding everyones differences and recognizing when you did something hurtful despite your intentions to help (no, this is not only about maya.)

i found hgk at a time of my life where i was really struggling to accept my new life when my disabilities got worse. it deeply resonated with me and i can relate to all of the characters but especially with kohei, with a disability that developed later in his life and living with a foot in each world. it took a long time for me to accept that i am disabled and i tried for far too long to act like i wasnt and that i could function normally in an ableist world if i just pushed and acted like it wasnt that bad. its hard to accept and mourn the things you wont get to do again and especially when your disability is progressive, knowing it will get worse and eventually youll lose more things.

hidamari ga kikoeru is a story about accepting yourself and others, flaws and all. whether those flaws are things that can be controlled and changed (like behavior) or things you just have to live with, and arent actually flaws in the first place (like disability). we make mistakes. we struggle and say the wrong things. we make assumptions, we misunderstand each other because of our personal and experiences. at the end of the day, we are all human and are capable of growing past our mistakes and make things better for each other.

I really enjoy movies. I like them as a form of entertainment and I like them as a form of art. I do not generally watch many, so when I watch them it tends to be weird arthouse horror shit or weird sci-fi shit or the occasional big-budget blockbuster. I don't watch human drama really at all - I find the messages too opaque because they're not criticising systems or structures but rather interpersonal relationships between characters I usually find deeply unrelatable - but I have been known to watch the occasional queer romcom or fun comedy thing, especially little animated kids things because I just love how clean the messaging is and how fun the little self-contained stories tend to be. So like... I'm not saying this as someone who "dislikes movies".

I fucking suck at watching movies. Almost every movie I watch is either watched with someone else (who prevents me from pausing every 15 minutes) or is watched across several days, occasionally weeks, while I pause and go to do something else and come back when I feel like it. I cannot easily watch a movie in a single sitting, it's just not possible for me.

So, when I say that "it's okay to be distracted when watching movies" is missing the point, I really do mean it.

Yes this is like... technically true. Like you are strictly correct in the sense of "that is how the language of art criticism technically works". But it really does not actually reflect the spirit of what is said.

Saying "this is part of your experience :) " is not a get-out-of-analysis-free clause. If someone literally did not watch a majority of the text because they lost concentration, they are not analysing the same work as you. It's not "how they experience the text", it's literally NOT the text. Like that is FUNDAMENTALLY different. That's not... it's not 'wrong' per se??? I get that? But it's definitely wildly different to what was intended, in a way that makes actually COMMUNICATING that critical analysis or using it for comparative media analysis basically impossible.

That's like... fine. It's not a crime, and if you enjoyed the movie then that's okay. But this fact alone kinda lends the lie to the idea that "it's okay to be distracted during movies" because if your purpose in watching a movie was not basically primarily entertainment and was actually more about wanting to consume a text for thoughts-about-art purposes, that's going to be severely impaired by getting hardcore distracted. I know because this happens to me CONSTANTLY, and it's why I need to watch movies over many sittings or have someone else with me, and yes! This changes my understanding of the text! It makes it harder for me to communicate stuff to others, and it means that when I refer to like... comparative media analysis and shit written by others, I just do not get as much out of it as other people.

Saying "that's fine" is just really dismissive in a way that feels like you've heard a criticism from someone else of something they themselves do, and then just kinda... shut them down by saying "but all that's just part of your journey with the text :)" which is reeeaally unhelpful.

i really think its important to remember this when watching slow cinema. because no one can pay full attention to anything for four hours (or eleven) (even if you take breaks) and when you see eight minutes of a man walking through a field in silence your mind Will wander. and the places it goes to (other movies you remember have similar scenes, poems, where you think the movies going, but also: what youll make for lunch, a woman you love, your tasks for the week you least want to do, the phone you might pull out and look at while keeping a side-eye on the man on the field), they're a part of the way you experience that guy walking around, and the way you'll fill it with meaning and remember it later. and its literally fine. do whatever you want forever. i need to try out1 again

That's the point of that artform, though. You're conflating a form of art where paying attention is the literal point, to an artform where NOT paying attention is also the literal point. Like. That's the goal. That's what's MEANT. So saying "but everyone experiences losing concentration when watching the lose-concentration media, so it's fine to lose concentration when watching the maintain-concentration media and you shouldn't complain about it" is just kinda feeling uncomfortable to me. This has the feeling of "someone got upset with themselves and I decided to dismiss their problems and shut them down, but politely :)".

I know I'm probably reading way more in than was meant, but that feels in the spirit of the original post lol so I don't really care.

obligatiry warning for faked suicides , some death , and toxic families

sososo important backstory is most of the siblings story takes place in my fan region , fioreé ( fee-or-eh ) , which is located somewhere to the north of unova !! and in fioreé its . mostly snow . its a very cold region and that part isnt really relevant but i think its very funny and cool ( hehe )

so here is where we meet a pokemon nurse / caretaker named grace , and her explorer husband , fissure . grace and fissure are the sweetest people youll ever meet , and they dont like to battle with their pokemon at all . most of them arent even officially caught in pokeballs , theyre just gentle people who want to live in complete peace with pokemon . grace runs a hospital / daycare out of their home for pokemon , often injured ones that fissure finds while exploring and brings home

they have a child and name them dogwood , and raise dogwood , who we will call dog for short , with their same values of non violence and harmony with pokemon . dog seems disinterested from a young age with continuing the family business , and prefers more academic things , which fissure and grace understand and allow

everything is fine , in dogs eyes , until they turn 7 and their parents have another child — this one named deerwood , who well call deer for short . from birth , deer seemed much more invested with the pokemon surrounding him , and it was clear to dog that their parents seemed to favour deer and his love of pokemon more than they did dog and their academics

this came to a head when one day , a wild , rampaging pokemon comes to the familys home / hospital and scares off most of the pokemon staying there , the only ones remaining being those that belonged to fissure and grace . by this time , dog is 18 and deer is 11 . the pokemon ( a legendary unknown to the kids ) attacks and eventually kills grace and fissure , and instead of fighting the pokemon , the parents sent out their pokemon to take the children to the nearest town to keep them safe

from this point onward , the siblings are nearly left to fend for their own . a friend of their parents gives them an apartment to live in once what happened is learned by the town , but dog has to balance working to pay bills and school with taking care of deer , and deer drops out of school to help out at the local pokecenter

dog refuses to get near any pokemon , even their parents old partners , a stantler and an arcanine , instead releasing them from their pokeballs . the two pokemon occasionally visit the children , mostly deer , until they pass of old age

meanwhile , deer continues to devote himself to caring for pokemon , so one day he can soothe any rampaging pokemon and prevent anyone else from going through what he did

dog was in the top of their classes , but due to their hatred of pokemon and overall antisocial demeanor , they were often bullied in school . they would in turn take this anger out on deer , berating him and such for the smallest things . deer never got mad at dog for it , though , as he view his older sibling as yet another rampaging pokemon to soothe one day

but dog ends up getting scouted by a scientific group , one wanting to understand everything about nature and the world . they ultimately want to return the world to a blank slate , with no humans or pokemon , for the longevity of the planet , even if they use pokemon in the meantime to help in some aspects of their plan . when they tell this to a now 22yr old dog , dog joins immediately , and within a year is promoted all the way up to vice-chairman of team ghast , the underground scientific laboratory

deer learns quickly what his older sibling is doing and absolutely despises it , because it goes against everything their parents taught them . but dog doesnt care about grace and fissure , since " they didnt care about me , either . just like you to kiss their asses as always , deerwood " . dog tries to convince deer repeatedly to join team ghast , but deer refuses and starts making secret plans to leave fioreé to live in peace

but to do this , they have to do something extreme , as dog was the sort of person to be able to track down deer almost immediately if he went anywhere behind dogs back thanks to fissures exploration teachings . so deer , 15yrs old , after months of making plans , fakes his own death with an attempt on his life that hospitalizes him , wherein the doctors and nurses help him escape his toxic older sibling . deer then goes into hiding before flying out to kalos by himself , to live freely with pokemon and never looking back on fioreé . he still has it in his heart that he wants to soothe dogs anger , but he wants to be happy , too , and his parents taught him that it can be dangerous to always protect others and not yourself

dog , meanwhile , takes the " death " of their little brother horribly , blaming themselves and their parents and the world itself for the loss . they devote themselves wholeheartedly to team ghast and their goal to erase all life from the planet . because theyve lost their parents to pokemon, they lost their brother to the pain living creatures cause . if they cant have happiness in this world , nobody can . they eventually become the ruler of team ghast after catching their first pokemon partner , an absol , and defeating the teams leader in a landslide battle .

maybe they reunite . maybe they dont . only tine will tell

now for lighthearted fun facts !! the story of my fan region was also a " fan game " i was planning , which would take place 3 years after deer runs away . 18yr old deer is 6'2" and 25yr old dog is 5'7" . deer is transfem with he / him pronouns and dog is intersex agender with a fem presentation

Its been 1 week and 3 days since i first came here. Quadratum . If we count the one week i was unconscious,then it would be 2 weeks and 3 day.

Waking up in a unfamiliar place, smelling the smell of whatever kind of recipe strelitzia is trying out for breakfast. Baldrs silent footsteps,that always make me feel like hes trying to sneak up on me, when in truth hes just well very silent.

Today is just pretty much the same. I look out the window and just wonder who •×}÷ is . That name and person i know that its very important to me. But i just cant remember. Strelitzia aand Baldr said that losing some memories is normal and that they'll recover over time. And if they dont recover i might be able to find someone who i knew and they might help. See the thing about me is that I do care about characters' morality but it's more in the sense of wanting to understand their moral framework and why they take the actions they do. And because of that i'm always sympathetic to morally grey characters and try to look at things from their perspective, but I don't expect the other characters in the story- who unlike me are actually affected by each other's actions- to feel the same way.

For example, I care deeply about nie mingjue and the inherent tragedy of how he's been trapped by his own circumsances and his genuine will to do the right thing and can see how his reliance on punitive justice was created by the environment he's grown up in and the responsibility he holds towards his people and i don't think, in any stretch of the word, that he deserved to die or that it was in fact necessary to kill him.

However i do not except jin guangyao, guy who was just kicked down the stairs, to see all the nuances here.

In the same sense, i can see how jgy's "self preservation above all else" mindset was forged by a world that expected him to die for their convenience how his avoidance of accounability for his actions was created out of necessity because any punishment levied against him would be disporportionate due to his heritage. How punishing him wouldn't actually make the world a better place or him a better person and how his violence is always reactive and that as long as he feels safe eneough to do so, the thing that he really wants to do is help people.

But I don't expect Huaisang, guy whose brother just got murdered, to give a fuck about any of that.

And I think this is why I'm annoyed with a lot of "is [insert character] a good/bad person" discourse because a lot of it gets framed as "If A is bad, the other characters in universe should hate them. If A is good, the other characters should be sympathetic to them, and if they're not then they're bad." And that is just... not how this works.

now im not quite sure if you want only writing tips or writing blog tips, so ive included tips and tricks for both!

WRITING BLOG TIPS :

have a masterlist. this might seem stupid and obvious, but ive seen people with no masterlist. people are lazy, so if they cant access your writing easily, they will just click away.

have a clean theme. aesthetics are important. they are. people love clean and easy to navigate themes. again, people are lazy, so if you make it easy to click through your blog and get to your writing, youll increase the chance of people reading your stuff!

how to get your work show up in general. putting links in your fanfic might lead to your story not showing up in the search. ive also heard that a banner thats too big can cause that. even using too many tags can lead to your work not showing up. its complicated.

the first five tags. im sure youve heard abt this already but the first five tags are the tags that will actually show up! so if someone follows #bts fluff and you tag your fic with that, your fic can show up on people's dashes as a recommended post!

tag accordingly. speaking of tags, please tag accordingly! theres nothing more annoying than finding a jimin fanfic in the taehyung fanfic tag. i really discourage you from mistagging your stories. if im scrolling through the taehyung fanfic tag and find a jimin fanfic, it makes me want to not read it. just tag your fics accordingly.

reblog your fics. i mean it. seriously, reblog them as much as you want! people live in different time zones or sometimes forget abt wanting to read your stuff, so reblogging it consistently for a week or so to get it on people's dashes helps!

teasers and taglists. i recommend doing both! teasers help to get people excited for your story and taglists ensure that people will read it, or at least remember to!

dont stress abt notes. now, this is less of a tip but rather something i just really really really want to tell you! i know youve heard this before, but please do not stress about notes. tumblr fame does not exists! it doesnt matter if your writing gets 2 notes or 300 or 5k notes! i do understand how getting a lot of notes can be motivating (every fics deserve all the love in the world by the way!!) but in the end, it should not be your motiviation to write. focusing on notes will ruin writing for you. it will. the amount of notes your fic will reach has nothing to do with how good your writing is. dont let something as superficial as notes ruin the fun of writing for you. its seriously not worth it! write for you and no one else!

WRITING TIPS :

write self indulgent fics. i seriously think all fics should be self indulgent. writing fics should be fun, so please write whatever you want! also, theres no such thing as an overdone trope. if you want to write a fake dating enemies to lovers fic, please write it! you might think there are already a bunch out there and its not worth writing another one, but youre wrong! there isnt one out there thats been written by you yet. go write it!

make playlists. now this is a bit specific to me because im absolutely obsessed with music, but making playlists that fit the mood of the fic has always helped me while writing and gotten me out of writers block before!

take your time. writing is freaking hard and when writers block hits, theres rarely ever something that you can do. try not to stress too much abt it! it happens to the best of us!

balance dialogue and detail. its important to find a middle. if im reading a fic and theres paragraph after paragraph after paragraph of detail, the chance of me just skipping that part is really high. because even though i love detail, it does get boring. so use dialogue to spice it up!

reading. okay, this sounds weird because youre asking for writing tips, but reading seriously help your writing so much! if you wanna improve your writing skills, reading a lot is going to be key. now, im not saying reading is necessary, but i do think that it can help you to better! whats even more important though is that you try to analyse people’s writing while reading. when i say you should analyse people’s writing, i do not mean you should write an entire analysis of a book, but to take a second and think to yourself how the authors just did that. how did they convey oc’s sadness? why did they just describe the weather? whats the purpose of this scene?

switch up sentence/paragraph length. shorter sentences/paragraphs = emphasise something and pick up the pace. longer sentences/paragraphs = slow down the story and allow for more detail. its important that you do a mix of both. utilise the length to your advantage. a well placed short sentence/paragraph can pack a lot of punch and turn your sad story in a heartbreaking one.

outline your fics. look this is very personal again because some people dont like to outline their fics, but i recommend outlining your fics. and when i say outline your fics, you can do it as little or as much as you want! it can be a few notes, or a long list of every detail you want to include. i just want you to know where this story is headed. its so easy to write yourself in a corner and trust me, you dont wanna end up there.

allow yourself to be free. this connects to the previous point i just made. even though i do recommend outlining your fics, i am also a firm believer of taking the story somewhere else if you feel like it. ive scrapped complete outlines before. half of the scenes i write also arent in my outline at all. you dont have to stick to the outline. if you think that a specific scene would add something to your story, then please go ahead and write that scene. just always remember where youre headed and dont loose focus.

have fun. i just really wanna reiterate this point again. its just so important to me that you have fun while writing! seriously. its just fanfiction. it should be fun. go crazy. i support you!

Okay, so, because I've been hanging onto this rec forever (because I can never seem to find the right words to convey how much I love it or how important it feels to me), I'm just going to set it up with this fantastic piece of art by @caroll-in :

FIC FUCKING REC!

The Man Who Lived by @e-sebastian is honestly one of my top favorite fics of all time. It's a drarry fic, and has a lovely build to their relationship (which is...flawed and gorgeous and perfectly written), but more than that, it's a Draco fic and you just fall in love with him like you never have before, while reading.

The Man Who Lived takes place 12 years after the war, and is set in New York, where Draco works with at-risk teenagers. He's got a life, a surprisingly content -- even happy -- one, and has moved on from his youth, has grown up in the best possible ways, and so much of his upbringing is behind him -- until he's cursed into sharing space with Harry in his dreams. Which is a bit of a problem, you know, because they're on different time schedules (Harry is still in England) and oh, yeah, they don't like each other. Lol.

Now, I'm not going to go into too much about the plot, because it's better if you go in not knowing too much, honestly, but I do want to take some time to talk about the tags and potential squicks.

I've seen a lot of people say they've been avoiding reading this because of one of the tags (which I'll elaborate upon in my tags, here, so as to not spoil anyone who doesn't want to know), and because it's in first person. I know a lot of people prefer third, and that's fine, I get it. I generally do, too. But this is first person done right. Seriously, I dare you to get halfway through the first chapter and be able to envision it in any other way.

Draco in this story is mature, smart, capable, and kind -- in short, he's everything we in the fandom have always known he could grow up to be. But he's still Draco: sarcastic and a little uncompromising, impatient and imperfect; he's rebuilt himself from being broken, and his cracks show through in a way that only serve to increase his beauty. There are flashbacks, too, that explain his redemption arc, and it's unparalleled, I swear.

It's also a slow-burn fic, but it's a slow burn in the way that CaPri is a slow burn. Things are always happening in it, and it keeps you completely engaged, to the point where, whenever there's a scene with Harry, it's simply icing on a very tasty cake. I generally have to be in a specific mood for slow-burn fics, but never with this one; I've read it more times than I can count and love it just as much on each pass.

Another "problem" I've run across from people debating reading it is that it's filled with OC's. Yes, it is, but they're good OC's. They serve the story in the best way, and are so fleshed out you'll start to feel about them the way you do about the side characters in HP -- like they've always been there.

And finally, some of the themes in the author's notes: the story does have some heavy themes, but I beg you to not let them deter you unless something is an actual trigger. Everything is so respectfully crafted here, not a single step feels out of place or like a mere plot point just to get from a to c. They're deftly written and handled with the care they're due, and the story is all the better for it.

And I know 250k might be daunting, but... Here, it's not. Not at all. I actually stayed up all night reading it the first time because I was obsessed, but it's one you can take your time with, and probably should, because you get more and more from it when you let it sit in your heart for awhile.

(tw for abuse) i dont understand what vivec is conveying in the sermons wrt the monsters and molag bal. he becomes divine so does he mean that stuff literally happened? or someone mortal did that to him and hes recontextualizing it? or is it like a metaphor for something more abstract about violence? the wedding stuff really confuses me. ive only gotten a little into morrowind lore

um like the thing with that is theres . a couple levels that entire narrative functions on, and it depends entirely on which  of two ways the spear “muatra” is interpreted

like the most obvious level and one that was absolutely intended is that muatra is a phallic symbol which is pretty explanatory when you see how its used. characterizes vivec as someone sexually violent. its really disgusting lol. this WAS intentional and mk gave a (non-)apology/explanation about that whole thing which was him being really fucked up at that point in his life and dealing with addiction and mental health issues which like . if it was just that then maybe id be like “ok whatever” but hes done a lot of other shit too.

but the other level, which is the level in which that whole narrative isnt terrible, is. “muatra” is an anagram of the word “trauma”. thats not accidental. and when you read that whole narrative through that perspective, it makes a LOT more sense bc the story becomes a recounting of a traumatic incident. the “wedding” and everything within is a recontextualization of something that happened to vivec that is being turned into a narrative aspect of their godhood journey instead

like the basic story is: vivec experiences abuse, and recontextualizes this as a “wedding”. creates a narrative where this very event is what taught him to grasp CHIM, indicating a life changing significance to this. this ahuse begets “monsters” that vivec gives birth to, which functions both as a confirmation on what this abuse is and a externalization of the results- the monstrous children are sort of like the twisted and disgusting results of what happened to them. if you chose to think of it as 100% symbolic, the monsters would be symbolism for the results of trauma and how trauma changes You. what that trauma bore

vivec gains the spear “muatra” from this encounter, which again is an anagram of trauma and pretty much every usage of the word can be read as trauma. in turning their trauma into a spear, its kind of like. an attempt to reclaim strength and autonomy after trauma. its reshaping what happened into a weapon and killing the “children” the abuse bore with it so one can become a new normal again. its a sort of cruel healing where you carry whats with you as something that makes you strong but like is violent and painful

i think all of the above is intentional, but the rest im going to say would give michael kirkbride too much credit. if it was written by a better human being who was writing from experience of how trauma affects you, id say the dual symbolism of: muatra as a sexual object used to inflict violence, and “trauma” made into a weapon, would be intentional. the more overt narrative of vivec being sexually violent with it would be representative of like a fear of having been sullied, disgust with oneself, disgust with ones body, fear of continuing the cycle, fear that youll become like those who hurt you, lashing out with a destructive coping mechanism. 

like it could function on that level but i think it was just MK being awful and putting shit in for shock value. also its just one example of  MK being shitty about vivec being intersex. placing a lot of like fetishistic emphasis on their genitalia. theres a lot going on there and almost all of it is bad

anyway as far as how literal it is. the sermons CANNOT be interpreted 100% literally. they partially exist to shape temple doctrine and maybe partially exist to instruct the nerevarine, so at the very least you have to assume SOME of it is untrue. like a lot of TES lore stuff is pretty damn literal but this is one case where i think its more interesting and valuable for it to be interpreted first and foremost as vivec rewriting their own history into a narrative fitting of what they want to be. 

but that doesnt mean NONE of it happened like, some of it might be real. some of it might have been retroactively made real. etc. it could be that the abuse narrative is 100% mundane with no daedra involved, it could be that they did actually grapple with molag bal (i think they did in some capacity but this isnt what its actually about). 

i think people with more developed Thoughts on this part of lore could say better but i think its less important to worry about the exact facts of it and more important to look into whats being said

portal 2 has an AMAZING narrative. AMAZING. but if you want to rewatch the story... you cant. your two options are to watch let’s plays and randomly skip around to hopefully hear all the dialogue, or to read the quotes on the wiki... which are seperated by character, not scene, and dont give environmental details. this makes it impossible for people who dont want to put in a massive amount of time in to experience the story of the game in one definitive place. so, i propose:

THE PORTAL 2 PROJECT

the end product of this project would be a video, posted to YouTube, that has all of the relevant scenes and dialogue in order. it would play out like a movie, so people who haven't or don't want to play the game can still enjoy and understand the story in its entirety. it would use screen recordings of the game, so you can see whats happening and hear it.

what would be included in the video:

-any moment where there is dialogue (exceptions listed below)

-plot relevant details: for some examples, getting the portal gun, finding a rattman den, introducing a new puzzle element, when cave says that portals can be placed on the moon. (this is to better help people who aren't familiar with the franchise understand what the things they're seeing on the screen are.) (most of these would be short clips: for example, when hard light bridges are introduced, the clip would show chell walking up to it and standing on it, and then the video would move on.)

-major scenes, obviously. an example is when chell falls into the pit or unlocks old aperture.

-small, funny details. (without lingering for too long.) it wouldn’t be portal 2 if you dont show the little details! examples include the borealis dock, the elevator room screens, or when wheatly is monologuing and you can go back and he’ll keep monologuing (”you’re at my mercy! wait- come back! (chell goes back) FOOL! you’re at my mercy, and i dont have any!”

-exploring the enviroment: for example, the screen recorder would stop to look at the awards in old aperture, zoom in on chell’s name for the potato experiment, listen to the optional/hidden cave experiment dialogue, as well as look at old posters and signs that tell you about the dangers of old ap. just so the audience is grounded.

-full, uncut opening with the wheately escape. the cameraman waits at the door before opening it so you get his full dialogue. ~5 minutes

-chell goes into her old relaxation vault, listens to the announcer, puts a button on the pressure pad, then enters the elevator. this introduces the button/cube mechanic. (this scene comes directly after the last, with no cuts). since there is announcer dialogue and new mechanics, this stays relatively uncut. ~1 minute

-chell exits elevator, hears funny announcer dialogue. the camera looks at the room for 5 seconds so the audience understands the setting for the scene, as well as the act. ~15-20 seconds

-chell presses a button to open a portal. this is the first time a portal is seen. she walks through the portal. this introduces the core mechanic of the game. (~30 seconds) (once the mechanic has been used once or twice, the rest of the puzzle is cut)

getting all of this footage is too much for one person. editing it... is too much for one person. ALL OF THE FOOTAGE HAS TO COME FROM PEOPLE WORKING ON THIS PROJECT. IT CANT COME FROM OTHER PEOPLES YOUTUBE VIDEOS. For this project, I’ll need people to record the footage, people to help edit the footage, and 1-3 people who know the story well and are willing to go over the game’s plot and determine what scenes and details we need, so the records know what to record and what to focus on. 

Do you want to help capture footage? if so, youll need:

-access to the PC version of the game with LOW LAG gameplay

-a screen recorder program. it CANNOT have a watermark on the finished product. needs to be high resolution footage.

-(the recordings will NOT feature your voice or a face cam.)

-(you do not need mods and please leave the portal gun with its base texture)

-(id be comfortable with each screen recorder person to cover around 1-2 chapters... so maybe 4-5 people, unless i can find more. youd be following some directions on what to record. you do not need to edit, just get the footage.)

-a video editor. high quality. i dont know the editing industry, i dont know what software exists.

-MUST be able to export it without a watermark and in high quality.

-(each editor will be responsible for a chapter or chapters. then render your final product. one editor will put all of the finished chapters together. this means you can use different software from the other editors, and will have a good amount of control over your assigned part. i dont have a number for how many editors there will be. id like more than one.)

IM SO GLAD U ASKED this game is probsbly my favorite game ever its been a special interest if mine since i was 7 and i dont think its a GOOD game per se bt i love it a lot and it impacted me a lot as a little kid w a mild interest in art :)

so basically the game is a little 2d adventure platformer where u get to draw and design the character u play as. its p clunky and the way ur character moves looks rlly silly bt again this game was released in like 2010 on the ds so its ok .. the game also gave u templates to go off of and use too just in case u didnt want to design a character from scratch

the story of the first game is abt this world that was drawn into existence by “the creator” in the book of life. u hav this little sequence where u get to draw the world, and the forrests and the creatures tht wld inhabit it. the creatures tht inhabit the world are callec raposa and they r little fox creature w funny ears :)

like this guy (his name is zsasha and hes a thief but hes like a bad one who ends up returning all of the stuff he steals and also watching over a little orphan girl who he basically adopts LOL)

in the universe if the game the “creator” eventually went silent and the raposa lost hope in them ever returning. the world was slowly shrouded in darkness and gradually all of the raposa inhabiting this little village were either lost or left on purpose bc it was slowly falling apart. the game starts when one of the remaining raposa, mari, prays to u, the creator, to come back and help restore her village, saying that everyone else has lost hope but she still believes you can return to her. u can answer, and either say that u will help or you wont, but either way u end up agreeing to help her and she goes to tell her dad, the mayor, abt it. you create a “hero” to be the vessel you will speak thru, and thats the character u end up designing and playing as. the game is abt going to various areas from the village and rescuing all of the raposa that are lost there, as well as restoring the village to what it used to be and drawing in bits of the landscape, like the sun and plants and stuff.

the villain of the story is a guy named wilfre, who was another villager in the town who ended up drawing in the book of life bc he wanted to create things the way the creator had. he ended up making these big inky monsters and got consumed by them, and when u meet him at the beginning of the game he tears up a bunch of pages in the book of life which get scattered across the land and you have to collect them in order to restore the village.

so u basically just go around saving villagers, collecting pages of the book of life, and redrawing bits of the town that were lost to wilfres shadows. eventually wilfre ends up like, killing maris dad (the mayor) and then after youve restored a majority of the village you enter his realm and kill him!! yay :)

throughout the game you also meet these two weird npcs called heather and mike. heather is a little raposa girl who has half of her face covered in shadows, and shes mostly mute. shes found early on in the game and is taken care of by another one of the main characters named jowee

mike is a character u end up rescuing later on in the game, hes p confused and doesnt know how he got where he is, and hes also different from the other raposa bc he doesnt have ears like they do and kind of just looks like a normal human (even tho none of the raposa know what that is and they just think he looks rlly weird)

in the first game heather is shown to take a liking to mike but it isnt explained why and she doesnt talk to its left unexplained

so yah the first game ends with you, the hero, defeating wilfre. mari takes on the role of her father and becomes mayor of the town, and all of the raposa (+ mike) live happily in the town youve restored. the hero goes dormant because theyre no longer needed and u get a scene at the end of the game w them sitting by the ghost of maris father.

the SECOND game takes place a while after the first game, in which wilfre returns and captures heather at the beginning of the game. he also kidnaps a bunch of the other villagers and transports them somewhere else, and he drains the color out of the village the raposa were in. they end up fleeing on a giant turtle with an abandoned town on its back that appears while the color is draining from the village. inside mari and jowee find another mannequin similar to the one the creator had drawn the hero on in the first game. they pray to the creator for help and thats when u draw the hero u get to play as for that game!! the hero doesnt seem to remember mari and jowee or any of the events of the first game, but they agree to help them rescue heather and all of the villagers wilfre stole.

jowee also has like, this magic pendant that belonged to heather that he found after wilfre took her, which seems to be leading them to where heather is. they use that to navigate the turtle thru the ocean to a bunch of other islands on the world. the second game is basically about traveling to different islands and helping them restore the color thats been drained out of them by wilfre. you also meet these two characters, salem

who is a villain in the first island u travel to, and sock

who is a villager on the first island u visit who ends up befriending jowee and traveling with them while they try to save heather.

so ur doing all of that but THEN, halfway thru the game mari is shown to be talking to wilfre, and then she dissapears. jowee assumes wilfre has captured her too, but shes later seen on the turtle again, and rips out a bunch of pages in the book of life the way wilfre did in the first game, and then wilfre appears to take her away and says that shes working with him now. jowee is heartbroken but resolves to get her back as well as heather

THEN, sock, jowees friend from the first island whos been tagging along and helping out, is ALSO revealed to be wilfre in disguise and he betrays jowee and steals heathers pendent, leaving jowee with basically no means of finding heather and wikfre and mari by extension.

so eventually they do end up finding where wilfre is and mari is like “jowee you dont understand wilfre has shown me the truth of our world and who the creator is and thats why im helping him” and jowee is like “i cant believe yoy are helping him how could you i cant believe you bla bla bla” and so wilfre is like “FINE ill show you the TRUTH of this world” and takes jowee and then the hero is kind of left ln their own for a bit to like wander around the world and try to keep rescuing ppl and such. and eventually jowee comes back and is like shaken up but kind of vague abt what wilfre showed him, but he still decides to side with the hero and the creator and eventually mari is convinced by him to join them again as well

so u fight wilfre again and EVENTUALLY wilfre reveals that if you defeat him basically the entire world will dissapear and thats what hes been trying to avoid by fucking w things and messing with the book of life. so all of the raposa have a bunch existential crisis abt them ceasing to exist if they go thru with this but then they decide to to it anyway bc the alternative is just as bad blah blah and u go and kill wilfre and he does this when he dies which is cool

and now heather is back!! and her and mari and jowee are all talking about mike and how important he is and meanwhile mike has no clue whats going on and is kind of freaked out by all of this, but theyre all like “mike you need to wake up” as theyre all fading out of existence and shit around him and eventually him and heather are the only ones left and they dissapear too

there was also another game released for the wii that like gave wilfre a girlfriend kind of but i never played it to completion bc it used the wii remotes motion controls to like draw and shit and it was rly janky and hard so i never finished it and most ppl did the same. i kind of rlly want to try playing it again tho bc it was a p cute looking game even if the controls were fucked up

AND YEA thats drawn to life its a weird silly little series tht i was obsessed w when i was a kid and it still holds a special place in my heart :) i basicaly just spoiled the entire series i guess but if u have a ds or a 3ds (bc the game is backwards complatible ! ) id still suggest like getting a cartidge off ebay or something and playing it bc its honestly a rlly sweet and beautiful looking game and i think a lot of it still homds up even if the controls r rlly janky now

“3 feet Laurens, you know that. Now what are you doing here on a Friday, I thought you did weekends” He questioned looking for an answer from  either of them. “(Y/n) told me you were sending her off to an all-girls school in Switzerland so I decided to spend her last 3 days with her.” He explained, (y/n) nodded. “Yeah daddy you know how the girls threw me that soiree.”

“Okay, but you’ll be back by curfew.”

“Of course daddy, we’ll go soon. Not to mention she’ll be in high-end society for that time, with men better educated than you or your father. Don’t take it personal son but I warned you. “Daddy seemed to like you today.”She commented as they left her property. “Yea, he did” John replied still stuck in his thoughts.

“Your quiet.” They ended up having a picnic in the woods but it didn’t take a genius to realize something was bothering John. She ran her finger through Johns’s hair, his head in her lap, a new form of intimacy they developed the past hour.
