The latest MatPat theory being focused around Vanessa 👁️👁️ Me when I get the giddy hyperfixation tingles whenever anyone brings up my blorbo.
While I don’t think the actual movie version of Vanessa will be revealed to be a robot (solely cause I feel like that’d be too controversial and require too much suspension of disbelief of a choice for the film franchise to make, since it is trying to appeal to a more general audience), I can see that being a possible route that allows the movies to do both Vanessa and Vanny without feeling like doing a 180 of Vanessa’s established character. This version of Vanessa doesn’t listen -> replace her with a new version of Vanessa (Vanny) who will, yknow?
#i feel very validated by this theory from when i read vanessa’s scenes from the movie novel#and threatened to strangle Scott Cawthon in a denny’s parking lot for implying that vanessa was a robot in the movie JFJSJDJ#cause yeah. that is in fact what the book says 😭😭😭 AND IT BOTHERS ME#BECAUSE HOW DID THE HOSPITAL STAFF NOT FIGURE OUT THAT LIKE#HMM MAYBE THIS WOMAN ISNT ENTIRELY ORGANIC#SCOTT CAWTHONNNNN#as always i’m not one to hate on a theory#its fnaf anything is possible. there is no such thing as wrong theories#all paths are interesting to consider#fnaf vanessa#vanessa shelly#vanessa afton#five nights at freddy's#fnaf movie#fnaf 2 movie#matpat#game theory

its been so long since human content/new content with no book relevancy even the youtubers and theorists like dawko and john are getting restless😭
#dawko going its not gonna happen steel wool right over glamfred and rhe humans not coming back#and john going 'im... totally okay with that happening 😐' about mimics story being spoiled in the books 2 years before sotm#like dude even theyre feeling it#dawko would love a fnaf game about absolutely nothing so his excitment about sotm makes sense#but its refreshing seeing john actually criticize it bc it deserves to be even if it was really tame and not really explicitly said#we understand and its just. so nice seeing someone like john actually aware of how stupid it id#instead of everyone being okay with it and not criticizing it for some reason#even tho it kind of sucks#like john is one of the last surviving theorists and a big figure in the community#seeing him actually not shy away from at least implying he thinks its bad and dumb in a video is just.#soo refreshing#like so many times i felt like i was insane for disliking all the mimic theories before ruin came out#i thought it was boring. mimic is a book villain#its so sad seeing john try to actually theorize about mimic in an interesting way with a satisfuing narrative that isnt just c&p#but it just turns out that actually yeah. its game is a rerun of its book lore that came out years ago#and we spent three entire years foreshadowing and teasing 'carnival' in games to hype this game up and its just c&p book lore nothing new#except the new shit being like. stuff about OG freddys and og characters which. are not explaining the mimics backstory#its just like whyy did they do it like this. and they shafted basically every single thing else to do it for years#no wonder dawko is starting to actually joke about them never bringing them back and john is implying his distaste#pandas.txt#discourse#sorryyyyy#its just like i think about sotm and im like i dont need to be that hard on it. theres nothing inherently wrong with a game explaining#mimics backstory#and then i remember how it was spoiled 2 years earlier in the books and everybody already knows its story and theres nothing#new about the mimic in this game save for a random new form#and im like yeah nevermind its okay to be critical about it they somehow handled the mimics story in the worst way possible#up to this point#like if youre a fan of literally anything else in the story youll resent mimic at least a little bit for how much it hijacked everything#even all mimic fans are getting are reruns of shit they already know

Gregory was the one to crash the elevator, not the Mimic
Hi I'm making a theory post because me and my bestie are so fucking deep in thinking about Ruin and how it completely changes the game of Era 2 fnaf so bear with me! This one has a long road to get there, but it'll be worth it I promise.
First off, just to establish some ground rules, I am following what Scott himself said about the books when they first came out and refusing to see book-only events as canon. Nothing about the Mimic we see in Ruin can be tied to the version from the books, so I'm not going to be using ANY book material as evidence unless it's also been shown in the games. The books have always taken plot points and twisted them to make something new, the Mimic is no different.
I also think Gregory deserves to be a little shit sometimes but that actually didn't cause this theory, it was a whole thing and I am forcing you all to follow along with me
(All images I use to explain things (as well as some of the points I make) were sent to me by @arcaneyouth thanks for taking the time to go through the game bestie!)
Okay. Hopefully this makes sense.
1. The Mimic that we know goes as far back as Help Wanted
I know I said this was going to be a long rant, so yes we are indeed going this far back so I can establish some things I find vital. After Ultimate Custom Night, Help Wanted was a HUGE shift in the franchise, to the point where everything after UCN is basically its own timeline. Fazbear Entertainment exists, and they did commit crimes, but Scott exists in-universe and there's no evidence Afton is anything more than a fictional villain FE can point fingers to.
Enter: the Mimic
It's been here the entire time, taking the form of Glitchtrap and learning through the code put into the game. All of its distorted voice lines are taken right from Tape Girl's files, and it seems to be emulating the thing that made people so fascinated with fnaf: the murders and who did them. So, it picks the form of a yellow bunny, but it's distorted. Spring Bonnie has never properly existed, so it chooses its own shape, which is easier as Help Wanted is entirely digital (similar to the AR world in Ruin).
Now, the most important part of this is hard mode night terrors: Pizza Party.
Now, it's implied in Help Wanted that you are simply testing this game. You are the next beta tester from the company that got sent the game after Tape Girl's got shut down. The game is unfinished, and still contains her tapes as well as things that wouldn't usually be there during a finished game (I can see why they kept the unfinished Showtime button in there because of this, and why there are some random events that can happen).
So because of this, it's very possible that Pizza Party...doesn't exist.
They didn't have a finished ending to the game yet, but the Mimic had been watching you play, and wanted to keep going. Maybe it was studying you, maybe it was studying the game, but it needs the game to be on to study either. So, to give you a fun final challenge, it creates Pizza Party.
It doesn't make sense. Corridors connect to each other in strange ways, bits and pieces of every single minigame are strewn about randomly, with characters only doing the simplest of actions (Chica going for a pizza, Marionette sitting in its box, Springtrap standing in a doorway, etc.) All of this leads to that finale we all know and love; taking Freddy's place on stage.
And here is where the first thing relevant to Ruin comes into play.
One thing from this ending dialogue doesn't match up. It's in that third image.
The narrator refers to himself in the first person.
Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but he has NEVER done that in this game before. It's always "we" or "Fazbear Entertainment". Never "I", or in this case "my". It even replicates the exact phrasing and structure of the sentence before it, it's the same sentence. This is the Mimic.
And here's the proof;
2. It literally does the exact same thing in Ruin (aka: how it affected the VANNI system)
Now, those of you who have played Ruin may have noticed that, in certain dialogues, Helpi looks...different.
Points where Helpi is yellow seem to indicate times when the Mimic is manipulating what it says (anything that tells Cassie how to shut down the security, anything that gets her deeper into the Pizzaplex. Helpi only goes back to blue to clarify what it said to keep her safe while doing it).
But there's one other thing that's different
Just look at all of those instances of first person language.
And, in case you're wondering, Helpi NEVER does this
Helpi talks in a very corporate way, always only referring to Cassie herself. Helpi isn't a character, it's a tutorial program.
This implies one really huge thing: The Mimic has access to the VANNI network and what it can do. It's using this to push Cassie further into the Pizzaplex, but there's also one thing in particular it's connected to.
3. The Mimic learned how to splice together sentences after connecting to the VANNI network
As stated before, the Glitchtrap in Help Wanted is heavily implied to be the Mimic (there is SO much more evidence I didn't touch on) but the most important part was what I stated before: It was using dialogue from other people to make its own sentences. But not in the same way it does in Ruin.
In Help Wanted, ALL of the dialogue implied to be from the Mimic is direct sentences it has taken in their entirety. It's not making something new, it's just repeating back what it's heard. That's clearly not the case in Ruin, it's talking all the time! It's able to instruct Cassie on what to do!
But, all of the things it says are bits and pieces from Gregory's dialogue in Security Breach. ALL of it. It just learned, through Helpi and the VANNI system, how to start piecing together its own sentences that still make sense. In fact, you can hear it very clearly right when you get towards Roxy Raceway, and Gregory announces he "finally has a clear signal", one that lets you hear exactly where all those cuts in the dialogue are happening.
Almost immediately after you deactivate Roxy, you get this popup
After this happens, there are only a few things the Mimic says to you.
All of these are direct 1 to 1 quotes that Gregory himself has said in Security Breach. (The exception being Cassie's name, but the Mimic would have had to heard him say it at some point in the first place to have been using it all this time)
As soon as the VANNI network became disconnected, the Mimic no longer had access to what it was using to splice together audio.
The fact that "you saved me!" is said differently twice is even proven by Help Wanted where, even though the line it copies in that ending dialogue is just said again, it's delivered differently.
Which leads to the ENTIRE point of this post: the Mimic did NOT interrupt Gregory in the elevator.
It has been proven even without all of this in-game that the Mimic isn't quite that good at fully replicating things yet. You can hear the splices as soon as you get close enough to it, it even points out that it finally has a clear signal, which was the reason Cassie never noticed before. Not to mention that Gregory never said anything like his speech before. None of that dialogue was in Security Breach.
None of the elevator speech was the Mimic. That was all Gregory.
#fnaf#fnaf security breach#fnaf ruin#ruin#fnaf ruin theory#fnaf theory#theory post#listen. Listen. The Captions Having Poor Timing Does Not Mean Anything#Okay? Do We All Understand Please?#i cannot tell you how genuinely infuriating that was tbh the captions had shitty timing the entire game it was CONSTANTLY doubling up on#itself even in security breach#so the fact that THAT was everyones MAIN SOURCE OF EVIDENCE was so. it was so#anyway. i have my own evidence now

Do you have a favorite debunked theory? I'm personally a fan of the Phone Guy is Purple guy theory, like, idk it just really appealed to me that your friend and guide throughout the nights could've been the killer himself
Oo (unrealted to the question above) do you have any thoughts on Phone Guy? Why he kept working at Freddy's, his opinions on William (if he ever even heard of or met him) just whatever
i honestly dont think i do have a favorite. generally i've never been disappointed when a theory is wrong. the closest thing i have to that would be (if it isnt debunked, i dont know) that shadow freddy & bonnie are past springlock victims. there isnt much holding it up, i just think its neat. now that i think about it, people rewinding the fnaf 2 trailer to get "mike kill all" out of 'london bridge is falling down' was pretty good lmao
i think its funny to make phone guy a completely unremarkable middle aged man who has an unrequited crush on his boss and that's why he keeps working there, to respect my rebornica purplephone upbringing. whenever i see people draw them like that it's genuinely hilarious. including when the dynamic is flipped. idk why its so funny to me its just the most boring pairing you could possibly conceive of and makes 0 sense
more seriously, he probably just worked there a long time and didn't want to leave. you can tell he didn't Solidly believe anything sinister was goin on as he just asks mike to check out the back room directly before Dying Badly. suspected it, clearly, but wasn't convinced. since he recorded the training tapes we get in fnaf 3, & worked at the fnaf 1 + 2 locations, its likely he just got along with management and had been there for too long to bail out on a dime
i think hes a fun character to play with and headcanon like its 2015 and i dont care about the information i actually have, since we know nothing about him ^_^ he is like a barbie doll to me

Fazbear Frights: What We Found Analysis
Here’s my analysis for What We Found, the third story in Gumdrop Angel. I wrote this as I read so it may be a little different than my previous analysis where I read the story first and went back.
If you’re a Michael Afton fan I highly recommend this. Also, there’s possibly some insight into William Afton, Mrs. Afton, and Henry too, so it’s worth a skim.
Pg 144 '...a place thirty-some years forgotten' Just reconfirming FNAF 3 is 30 years past *one* of the FNAF closings, presumably FNAF 2 location.
Pg 145 "The whole building was giving him [Hudson] a headache." FIX THE VENTILATION BRUH
Pg 148 '...they were able to use salvaged derelict equiptment original to the old pizzerias.' Another confirmation of something we heard from Phone Guy.
Pg 147 "How old are you?" "Twenty-three, same as you." I think this gives us Michael's age during FNAF 3.
EDIT: This kept me awake last night. Obviously this is impossible because he has to be alive for at least 10 years before 1983, BUT maybe its just reconfirming FNAF 3′s year? 2023?
Pg 149 "Hudsan's dad died and his mom married Lewis, a ridiculous balding man who wore plaid vests and smoked a pipe" Did... Did this book just seriously imply Mrs. Afton left William for Henry? Really? (Yes, there's differences; the husband is dead and the man wears plaid 'vests' but it seems very odd to include that detail. This could just have been the writer's own imagination, though.) I have seen this as a fan theory and 100% explains the jealousy aspect of William, but I can't help but kinda hate it. I think this is very important, though, and probably Scott's intention. "This horrible little man [Lewis]... would make Hudson's next ten years a living Hell" This REALLY intrigues me given the context I just went over. The text implies Lewis was fairly neglectful to our main character / Michael stand-in Hudson. Maybe I'm wrong and for some reason Mrs. Emily left and went to William? XD Haha, I'm reading too much into this page. Maybe I'll come back to this later. I figure it's more of Scott possibly including double-details (contradicting stuff with the same character that really applies to two, which has been something I heavily pointed out in previous anaylsis on this blog) Having said that, I'm going w/the former because I can't imagine Henry being abusive (neglectful yes, abusive no) and he's never been portrayed that way in official works like William has in the novels.
Pg 150 "Hudson began to screw up in class...a product of spending the night in fear that his stepfather [Lewis]... [would] beat him just for the fun of it." Ooof. Big confirm on William actually being abusive. Unless we stick with the Henry theory for Lewis (combined with Midnight Motorist Henry theory / alcoholic). "...near-daily beatings..." "his mom started taking pills to get through the day..." So, whoever Mrs. Afton is, she was definetly not paying attention. But then, most people married to serial killers either don't notice because of denial (like this) or because the killer is so manipulative / careful they can't notice.
"Barry, who had red hair and freckles..." Yo?! Is that a description of Fritz?! These friends in the story could be the other kids Michael knew's stand-in's, aka the two gravestones with names he used (Fritz and Jeremy), as shown in the checks for the games and FNAF 6. I've long figured Michael was probably friends with the victims--it makes them easier, although riskier, targets [for William]. The two friends are male, too, like Fritz and Jeremy. If you're curious about Duane's description (our stand in for Jeremy), it's "tight black shirt... muscles... black hair long enough for a glossy ponytail..." I'm not sure if this matches anything found in the novels or contradicts them, though. (The novels = TSE trilogy)
"And so it went... until the night of the fire." For context, this is before FF burns down. We're learning of Hudson's life from his close friends in childhood, his father's death, his mother remarrying, to his abusive stepfather, to his grades slipping to this line. This would be a new fire not seen/mentioned in the games...
Pg 151 "...go to Charlie's for a sundae..." Really. Really Scott. Just gonna use this name again. OK. I'm not even gonna discuss this because it's probably irrelevant. *This is confirmed on pg 158 to be an ice cream shop. No lore relevance aside the annoying name coincidences Scott loves to troll with.
"This is not... an advance into enemy territory, a fight with demons, or a descent into Hell..." Uh, what? What is Hudson talking about? XD I'm only noting it because it seems so out of place. He's probably talking about video games or something.
Another note, although I don't have a specific reference since it is mentioned off-hand many times, is that Hudson keeps referring to his "history" which is implied to have kept him from getting a well-paying job and a girl he's crushing on doesn't know this "history" which is good for him. Seems good old "Michael Stand-In" has done some jail time or something. Edit: On pg 154/155 the girl asks Hudson, "Did you do it?" Seems he may have killed his stepfather or been involved with something else just as bad. Edit 2: No, I was thinking too deep into it. This probably refers to Evan's death at Fredbear's. DUH.
Pg 156 describes an actual "prize corner" in FF! What am I even reading? IIRC this is in FNAF 3, too. So they just hand out these scary gift boxes to people that complete the attraction? (Hudson says he *would* have fun handing out the scary toys to kids when this location opens--kind of a bully thing to do, eh?)
"[Hudson] avoid[ed] glancing in any of the mirrors..." I'm only pointing this out because it could be reference to one of two things. 1) We know because of one of UCN's music tracks, William has a fear of his reflection. Michael probably shares this trait, especially since 2) after Ennard and all... and later on pg 157 it also says, "he never wanted to face: himself" Sounds like guilt, my guy.
Pg 157 "blonde hair... blue eyes..." Hudson shares an eye color with Michael. It's possible Michael had blonde hair as a child and it changed to brown (it's common, something I personally went through being technically blonde/ blue eyed myself)
"He [Hudson] knew from personal experience that toys could turn from fun...to torture ina heart-beat" Fairly self explanatory. Either Hudson's worked at a creepy location before or he doesn't like remembering Fredbear's.
*checks how much is left.* There's still 35 pages (not counting back/front) left of this... This is gonna be a lot of notes.
Pg 158 Hudson doesn't have a car. Poor Mike, probably having to walk everywhere. Especially as a corpse.
Pg 160 This page describes many physical issues Hudson has that prevents him from entering the Navy, all from the abuse of Lewis. Obvious paralell to Michael becoming an undead [because his father sent him to CBPR indirectly causing his condition]
Pg 161 "How's your granny, Hud?... ...Is she still alive?" "I don't think she can die." Does anyone in the Afton family really 'die'? XD
Pg 162 These few pages discuss Hudson's grandmother. She's described as "a seer who claimed to know the future... ...wore big men's plaid flannel shirts with baggy jeans" Um, more plaid / flannel? AGH. STAHP. Lowkey, I would totally headcanon my Aunt Jen like this, though.
Pg 163 "Hudson's mom... the way she was before Hudson's dad had died... never... particularly warm and fuzzy... but... effiencient and responsible..." More about Mrs. Afton, so that's kinda neat.
"Hudson's dad was fun and attentive." There's a good Dad in this series?
"Unfortunetly, he also struggled with mental illness." "invisible low points" (Pg 164) Kinda reminds me of how Henry is described after Charlotte's death in the books.
Pg 164 "When Steven got himself into a bad deal that cost him his small business... he'd taken his life." Oh, it is Henry! SMH. Way to use confusing paralells. So, from our understanding thus far, Hudson's real father, Steven, is our Henry stand-in. His step-father despite being described similar to Henry, is actually our William stand-in. Fair game, Scott.
Pg 164 "...he [Hudson] was locked into a supply closet..." Oh shit, you guys. So, let me go on a tangent here, because this IS important! I just watched a retrospective on Sister Location and FNAF 6 earlier and one theory for Midnight Motorist was the person in the chair was the mother and the kid was Michael. I think this little line may confirm that. In fact, the story may be the key to figuring things out. Obviously, the line is a paralell to FNAF 4's scene in which Crying Child was locked in the supply closet of Fredbear's. I know some people, including Matpat, believe[d] CC was Michael, and in this book's context, it sort of works. This does contradict Step Closer and 1000 other things that make Michael the older brother, but maybe it's hinting at MM? Abusive stepdad (possibly Henry... maybe William is gone at this point), checked out Mom (hey, grey couch lady with Foxybro's font). IDK, but its definetly something to think about.
Pg 165 Lewis is mentioned as calling Hudson "nothing" and saying "you're nothing" on several occasions on this page. Just more abuse, for those accurate fanfic writers like me. Also I kinda wanna watch Morel Orel again. Yall know my fav character is Clay. Yall know.
"You're smoke." <-- Lewis / The text later reads, "...there was some irony, given what eventually happened." BRUH. Why did your stepdad die in a fire? :V TELL ME.
"When his family's house burned down at the end of his senior year..." Huh. Is there a fire we don't know about in the game-verse? Could this explain what happened to the FNAF 4 house before MM house?!
"...it purged Hudson of Lewis and his mother." MRS. AFTON BURNED ALIVE, TOO? Bruh. I can't with this story.
The text later describes the fire is concluded to be man-made and Hudson was blamed for it. Can't say if this ties to Michael, but it IS interesting... TBF, there is a small paralell to draw between Henry in FNAF 6 and his history of suicide in the books, too.
Pg 166 "...this place's [FF] busted thermostat.." I just find this line funny.
Pg 167 "...after three weeks of keeping an eye on the place" Some more timeline context for FNAF 3. We know that Michael worked there a little while before we start playing the game thanks to one of the phone calls, IIRC, so this makes sense. If Michael was accused of [something] and also wanting to hunt down his father, then it makes perfect sense why he's working a dead end job at Freddy's over and over and over. Fun fun fun.
Pg 169 "He hated to think about a functional character [Foxy]" This line is in regards to Hudson not liking the set up of Pirate's Cove and Foxy's hook to scare people. Sounds familiar, don't it? (For Michael anyway.)
Pg 173 "Some big find is arriving tomorrow." SPRINGY BOI! COME ON BOOK, get on with the show?
Pg 176 "Granny was wearing a red-and-green plaid shirt and her baggy jeans." Nothing special, but it was specifically brought up twice. I'm kind of racking my brain trying to understand what the point of this character is outside of "woooo everything is haunted don't you know that" kind of character.
Pg 180 "...dropped the crate on the linoleum with a resounding thud." HEY. Poor Springtrap, just gettin' tossed around like the trash he is.
Pg 186 "If you weren't so stupid, I'd tell you more about it." Springtrap bringing the burn. =:)
"A voice with a burr-like rasp...hint of a Southern accent" I'm going to assume this is because it's Lewis probably in the suit in this story and not our old British lad.
"It's was Mr. Atkin's voice." THE MATH TEACHER? *goes back to check* 'The algebra teacher'. Okay...
Pg 190 Okay, so Hudson hear's Lewis' voice this time. Okay, I get it now. Springtrap in this kind of imbodies all of Hudson's old bullies, including the teacher. He also has PTSD, just FYI. IDK if anyone finds that important, but it's fairly obvious by the line "He wasn't in his bedroom. Lewis didn't just slam his head into a desk; his head had been slammed into the [arcade] game."
"Why did he hallucinate a scene from his childhood?" Oh, it's not PTSD, then. It's just the VENTILATION ERROR. lol Okay.
Just a note, as I'm reading through the more action-based stuff, I kind of feel bad for Michael if he had flashbacks like this guy. They're intense.
So, Lewis' voice finally comes out of Springtrap on Pg 213. There's that.
Pg 220 "You can just stay there [in his room]" Kind of a paralell to Midnight Motorist. Lewis is saying it to Hudson. I really feel like the kid in the MM game is Michael because of this story...
Pg 223 "Heat purges. Fire heals." I'm sure that's Henry's life motto.
The ending was stupid, but most in these stories are. Hudson is hallucinating and is implied to have burned himself alive in FF's oven. Meh? The first half of this one is A TRIP and a little insight into what I 100% believe is Michael's childhood. I think the saddest part of it all is that we never got Springtrap speaking to Michael in FNAF 3--and if it's ever remade I hope we get more of them interacting.

I’m currently listening to like, old FNAF songs because nostalgia and they’re fuckin’ bops y’all don’t @ me.
Anyways, because of this, I new prompt/oneshot came to mind. The Batfam somehow end up being kidnapped and they enter a version (of the version) of the first (or whichever game) FNAF game.
Like, say that the creator of the game was a Robotics engineer who had hopes of creating a game. So, they create this horror game, and get hella into it, so much so they wrote books, created a sort of real life version of it (miniature tho) and etc etc. Then the Dev presents the game to another branch of the company they work at and it gets shut down. They get laughed at and everything being told that the game would never succeed and etc etc. And adding onto the Developer’s tragic backstory is that they got back stabbed and got their designs stolen by a coworker and got fired for whatever reason.
Anyways, the Developer not only got humiliated, got their work stolen but they even got fired from their dream job. Resentment breeds and then they cronstructe a real life version of the game(s) they created. They went so far as to stay as close to their games lore (in FNAF the animatronics were possessed by kids, same thing applies here). So, this Creator got jilted, back stabbed and humiliated and went a bit crazy and killed a couple kids who “possessed” the animatronics (the kids could actually possess the animatronics or not, up to y’all, but let’s say in this prompt/oneshot, that they did).
Anyways, let’s say Red Hood heard about five kids from Crime Alley that went missing in the exact same location at different dates. This catches his eye and he researches it some more. The more he researches the more he finds out. For one, more then ten kids went missing at this one location (which is this kids pizzeria party hall). Jason, whose known to protect kids, especially if they’re from Crime Alley or are street kids. But, he finds these series of suspected kidnappings/disappearance of these kids really particular. Something is off and he wants to investigate it.
Switch to Red Robin’s POV were he’s out on patrol and finds crates full of various mechanical/robotic parts. He’s, rightfully so, confused as all hell and tries to investigate were the fuck these robotic parts are being shipped and who shipped them. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything of substance as whoever ordered these hid their tracks very well. He takes a couple of the parts to analyze back at the Batcave/the Nest. He opens a couple more crates but finds other shit, like painting equipment, marble titles, plaster and other shit that is usually used when someone is renovating a place. They all have the same markings and the like and RR is confused but starts to suspect that one of the Rogues might be up to something. He also has a theory that this might be the work of a new, and upcoming Rogue as the stuff he found doesn’t fit any of their current Rogues MO but he doesn’t ignore the possibility this might be one of their other Rogues work.
Then we switch to Batman’s POV where he was working a different case but then notices something. He notices that someone is skimming money (a fuck load of money) off of this one companies branch and no ones noticed as its covered up pretty well (but Batman caught some minor, but significant inconsistencies). He tried to track the money transcations as he’s worried one of the Rogues might be planning something or something akin to that. The more he digs, the less he can find because everything leads back to shell companies and to stuff that doesn’t exist. The trail is covered up pretty well but this is Batman, he’s the worlds greatest Detective so he manages to find out that the money is being used to buy... paint, titles, chairs, and various other household renovating items? He’s a bit confused but then thinks that this might be Mad Hatter but when he looks into all the stuff that’s being bought, it doesn’t fit Mad Hatters Wonderland Aesthetic/MO. Still, he keeps on eye on the transactions.
Cut to Nightwing & Robin out in Blüdhaven. They’re out on biweekly patrol together. It’s a rather slow night but Robin and Nightwing are having fun (and bonding ofc!). Then, at one point, when the duo stop a mugging, the lady that they saved made an offhand comment about some kids going missing. Robin’s instinct goes off and he asks the woman whats she’s talking about. The woman explains that some street kids she knew from her job at a youth center just stopped coming. She chalks it’s up to her paranoia but she thinks they might have been nabbed. Nightwing cuts in and offers to walk the woman home which they do. Robin is thinking back on the woman’s comment about a few “missing” street kids. He tries to rationalize it as these kids probably just leaving or ending up in a Dention Center but he can’t help but think about it. He remembers something RH said about street kids going missing at this one specific place. He can’t stop thinking about throughout the rest of his and Nightwings patrol. Nightwing notices that Robin isn’t very focused so he asks what wrong. Robin dances around the topic but eventually does tell Nightwing what’s on his mind.
“That woman we saved earlier said something that stuck with me.”
Nightwing raises his eyebrow. “What did she say that stuck with you?” Nightwing knew that trusting ones gut instinct is important. There’s a reason why something’s that might send alarms off. He just hoped Damian could trust those instincts.
“She offhandedly remarked about missing kids. She told us that some kids she knew from the youth center she worked at haven’t showed up in three months. I remembered, earlier something that Red Hood said about streets kids going missing from a specific location, all at varying times.”
Nightwing is a bit surprised, but he’s heard Jason talk about the case. He makes a note to investigate the missing kids in here and compare notes with Jason afterwards. He has a feeling that the missing kids in ‘Haven might be related to the one in Gotham (considering street kids are the ones going missing. That stuck out to him). He reassures Robin that he’ll investigate it, and Robin replies that he wants in. Dick sighs but let’s him (it’s be a great bonding experience! No matter how morbid in retrospect...).
Batgirl (Stephanie!) is out on patrol with Red Robin when they talk about any recent activity they’ve seen. Red Robin makes an offhand comment about how he found crates filled with house renovating shit but he couldn’t trace them back to anyone. Batgirl stops, as she remembered when two weeks back she was at the Harbor and found crates filled with tech and... house renovating stuff. Batgirl then asks Red Robin for the serial number that the crates had, he’s but confused but tells her. Batgirl then realizes, those weird ass crates she found and she couldn’t trace back were the same one Red Robin were investigating. She tells him this, and tells him that she found were one of the crates were being hauled off to. They both decide to cut patrol short (it was almost finished either way, but tonight was uncharacteristically quiet). They both head off to Red Robin’s Nest. They both exchange info about the weird ass crates and theories. Batgirl thinks that this might be the work of a new up and coming Rogue as everything she found in the crates doesn’t suit any of their current Rogues MO. Tim agrees with her, but can’t find anyone that could be their new Rogue.
Now with everyone having different cases, which are all interlocked together let’s get into...
Five Nights At Genni’s
Ft. The Batfam, the Developer, FNAF Case Fic AU, fuck canon because everyone is on pretty good terms, Lots of Dead Kids (👀), And Scary Ass Probably Possessed Animatronics!
COMING SOON!
because I’m to lazy to continue on with the prompt/oneshot but I’ll finish it don’t worry lol
Now, if anyone wants to write a whole ass AU case fix stemming from this prompt/oneshot, go ahead! I’d honestly love to read the Batfam try and piece together the FNAF lore, while within the game itself, while trying to figure who tf is doing all this shit. It’s perfect for like, writing a great case fic, an exploration of the Batfam’s relationship and the Batfam themselves. But, it doesn’t have to be serious! Like, if y’all don’t want to write the part about several dead kids and want to write a semi crack fic centered around the Batfam being within the FNAF games then go for it!
Anyone who sees this, tag your fav Batfam writer! Because I haven’t found when fics where the Batfam ever interact with the FNAF games (whether them as actual games or something like what I wrote above). I’d love to see their takes on this prompt!

Dismay Phase 1: Observation
I'm stuck in a train for three hours, so I decided to put together all the notes from this first week of Dismay. This is our notes as a community btw, not only mine, meaning I will update this post if I missed anything. Be free to add theories, notes, analysis,...
May 18 - May 20
These three days don't have to count as Dismay. These are the first days the Discord Server was created, and open to everyone. We discover the server, its many chatrooms. We get familiarized with its system, the mods, and the community. Four waves happen, without much happening, but on the theorists' den, questions are already being asked. By the end of this week, theories have already been made.
Notes:
Anti's name shouldn't be pronounced in there, at any time
Assume the ones in power are watching you, always
This is the main platform for the ARG (augmented reality game) Seán and the mods have planned for us
Theories:
This is Anti's server. We fell for his trap and have now become his puppets unknowningly
Anti took over the server. He wasn't supposed to be here but found his way in somehow
The mods are puppets guided by Anti
The mods are a protection between us and Anti. When they're gone, he can take over
May 21
The first part of Observation is uploaded. We quickly see that something is wrong. The glitches are back. They grow in intensity until Jack disappears. We have been warned another Egopocalypse has come.
Theories:
Bring her
Anti kidnapped Stacy
Anti kidnapped one of Chase's or Schneep's daughter
Pronouns aren't important. This is about Chase/all the egos
Outro
The symbols at the end hides a message [DEAD END]
Someone took Jack's chair
Someone took Jack away to protect him
Marvin used his magic to make him disappear
This is just an Easter egg to reveal to us what's the JCU will be about
Later that day or night, something happened on the Discord Server. The egos appeared as bots on a chatroom with a cryptic name which was translated to WATCHING. BoobyDoopy is the first to react, followed by all the egos.
Notes:
The bots were controlled manually. Seán couldn't type this fast, the mods helped
Chase can't see
All the egos know something's wrong, but Chase
Only Chase and Schneep talk to each other
Schneep asks what happened, not what's happening
JJ still can't talk
Theories:
Marvin is the one to delete the chatroom
Chase woke up Jack, deleting the chatroom
Chase thought BoopyDoopy was Jack
Schneep stopped Chase from waking Jack
Schneep knows something no one else does
JBM has disappeared for the last year to hide from us and Anti
The chat is vocal, that's why JJ can't communicate
Someone is holding JJ's words back
BoopyDoopy is Anti, asking the mods (puppets) to do something
BoopyDoppy's Jack, he genuinely can't see what's going on
Chase can't see because of the blood in his eyes
All the egos are in the same room but Chase and Schneep
The egos represent the wise monkeys:
See no Evil = Chase (can't see)
Speak no Evil = Jameson Jackson (can't talk)
Hear no Evil = Marvin (most blue-eyed white cats are deaf)
Do no Evil = Jackieboy Man (superhero)
"Smell" no Evil = Schneep (can't tell evil from good)
Evil = Anti
May 22
This day is the beginning of the two videos per day. First FNAF VR, then Observation part 2. In the first, a minor glitch and a number: 101610, a hint quite handed to us.
Theories:
This is a hint to Anti's first appearance (Oct. 10, 2016)
Time is so broken that Jack can’t tell the difference between days, months and years (10/16/10, not 10/10/16)
With the color alphabet and rearranged, it spells CHASE
Seán's colorblind and with the only green letter being 6, this is part of a binary code (10110) [DEAD END]
This is too obvious to be a clue, just some fanservice or Anti making sure we'll watched and speak of him
In Observation, Jack comes back after disappearing with a glitch. The outro is him building up tension until a shadow appears.
Notes:
The shadow is reminiscent of Anti's appearance in Dark Silence
The siren is heard
Jack acts as if the outro of part 1 didn't happen
Theories:
Anti took Jack's place
Another ego took Jack's place, angering Anti
Yet another glimpse at what the JCU will look like
Observation takes place during or after Dark Silence or Exiles
May 23
The first video of the day didn't have much to theorize. The ending gave a little Quit the Game to Win vibe, but Seán could've also just wanted to thank us.
The next part of Observation, however, is much more interesting. All happened during the outro. First, we can hear Jack says that "it's all coming together". Then, we can see Jack glitch, get pixelated and get divided or cloned, telling us “Time is Broken”. Finally, a robotic voice tells us they’re "here". In the tags, we can find "keep watching".
Notes:
His eyes turn brown during some frames
Jack has his eyes closed and under a red light during others
Both Jacks merge into one
Theories:
Anti and Jack are becoming one
There are multiple timelines, we're not always watching the same Jack
The eyes means JJ has taken over
Multiple egos run the channel now, not just Chase
The egos are Jack divided in multiple timelines
The break of time is affecting Jack and/or Anti
May 24
So many things happened that day. First, the fifth Discord wave started, adding 800 people to the server. Then, a second video of FNAF was uploaded, the outro consisted of a glitched Jack, emiting a long groan.
Notes:
The sound resembles the one in Exiles, only longer
These are new glitches, not the style we've been used to
Jack's skin is paler than usual
We can't tell the color of his eyes
Jack is partly divided during some frames
Theories:
Jack is waking up, Anti can't control him anymore
Jack is dying, Anti is slowly forced out of his body
Jack is dying, Anti hopes we'll save him so he can keep using him
Jack's braindead
The sound is Jack trying to talk through his slit throat
Schneep and/or Marvin have trapped Anti within Jack's body to either protect the egos or save Jack from dying. Anti's escaping
The egos are fighting to control Jack. Without an ego in control, Jack cannot move
Then comes the second upload and what happened during the video on Discord. Let's talk about the video first, then the server.
A glitched happened when Emma talked about the place being "compressed". A green glitch, something we're used to. In the outro, we saw Jack taking about his theories for the game before glitching and restarting the game. The last seconds are the first seconds of Observation - Part 1. There's a loop.
Notes:
The first frame of Observation - Part 1 can be while Jack’s still glitching
Jack's eyes are brown during the glitching
The last seconds glitch as well, the first seconds of Observation part 1 don't.
Theories:
Anti's playing the game. He's stuck in a loop, hence why he hates circles
The egos are all stuck in a loop
Someone is forcing Jack into the loop
We're in Jack's head, who can only remember so much before his memories loop
On Discord, when we were all watching the video, something happened. Jack's pfp changed, then turned into a gif. His role got zalgoed. Then, all the pfp of the mods changed, turned black, before all their names simply read ???. They sent cryptic messages on the panic chatroom, sending emotes and asking us if we were happy. Then, they all disappeared, only remained the community and a glitched BoopyDoopy. It lasted an hour, before all came back to normal but for Seán's pfp which had changed. The mods don't remember anything happening.
Notes:
Mod Lauralie was the last to glitched, the last to reappear as well;
Some people might have glitched as well. This isn't part of the ARG. The mods have asked to refrain from copying their actions in the future.
Theories:
The emotes were a code [DEAD END]
Each mod is an ego. Lauralie is Chase
BoopyDoopy is Anti. The mods are Anti's puppets
Anti took over and "kidnapped" the mods
The mods are protecting us from Anti
The mods became one, they merged together and could've merged with BoopyDoopy as well
May 25
Today. There's a stream coming up. We'd better keep watching.
More theories:
The titles of the Observation playlist is a conversation between the egos
Something is incredibly wrong here... (Marvin)
There’s someone else here! (JBM)
No, it’s not possible... (Schneep)
There’s no going back now! (anyone)
The Discord shenanigans don't mean much yet, they're a test to see our reaction and act accordingly later. Same goes for this entire week
Tell me if I missed anything ;)

"Charlie" Has Actually Been Sammy This Entire Time (Revamped with Evidence from Both TTO and TSE)
(Revamp of this post, now properly typed out and with tons of evidence.)
(Original theory concept by /u/theGavtel.)
There were many odd scenes in TSE, but there’s one scene in particular that really seems to have people confused: The ending, wherein Charlie dies via springlocks, then seems to show up at a diner later perfectly fine, only to have John declare that that “isn’t Charlie“. So… what the heck just happened here?
In order to understand this, we need a key moment from earlier in the book. When Carlie confronts William/Springtrap over the kidnapping of Sammy, he says this:
”I didn’t take him, I took you.“
According to William, Sammy is not the child he kidnapped. However, we also know that he didn’t take Charlie - after all, she remembers her dad raising her. But there’s one more key scene to help us out:
”Charlie, this girl looks like you,” he said bluntly.
”Not that much like me.”
”She could be your twin,” Clay said.
Charlie finds a dead body that looks strikingly like her. This isn’t just foreshadowing for her death at the end of the book - it’s spelling out what’s going on.
If you recall, Charlie and Sammy are fraternal twins - Sammy’s never been described, but chances are they look pretty similar. In fact, a quote from TSE directly supports the idea:
Except on formal occasions when Charlie was put into a dress—of which there seemed to be few—it was impossible to tell which baby was which.
They were similar enough that, say, their identities could be easily switched. In other words, what’s really going on here is that the “Charlie“ we’ve been following this entire time has actually been Sammy, who only thinks he’s Charlie.
“But wait!“ you may be saying. “Charlie remembers Sammy being kidnapped!“ But does she really?
If you look back over the scene, you’ll realize that at no point does anyone else confirm which kid was taken. Male pronouns are used for the other child, but that’s only because it’s Charlie’s memory. All she really remembers is her sibling being taken from her.
“But wouldn’t Clay know which kid was taken?“ Guess again:
Clay remembered when Henry had moved to town and began reconstruction of the new restaurant. Someone had told him that Henry had a kid who was abducted several years prior, but didn’t know much else.
Note the lack of gender specified. And at the end of the paragraph:
That was also when Charlie appeared; Clay hadn’t known Henry even has a daughter until that day.
Clay didn’t know Henry had a daughter before then because he didn’t.
In fact, at no point in the entire book does anyone other than Charlie herself tell us which child was taken. For example, those two graves at the end? Glossed over, no name given.
Heck, even the newspaper they look at is carefully handled to avoid giving the gender or name of the child who was taken:
The headline was small, but it was on the front page of the paper on Monday, November 1:TODDLER SNATCHED. Charlie turned away. John began to read aloud, and Charlie cut in, stopping him.
“Don’t,” she said. “Just tell me if it has anything useful.”
[…] She leaned over his shoulder. The story had continued over an entire page inside, with pictures of the restaurant, of the family all together, and of her and of Sammy, though neither of the twins was named in the article.
And check out this delicious piece of foreshadowing with with Clay and Carlton:
“He managed to convince his classmates and his teachers that he had a twin brother, at the school, for the first few weeks of class. I don’t know how on earth he managed it, but I didn’t find out until he got tired of the act and I started getting calls from school that one of my sons had gone missing.”
“But wouldn’t that mean Henry gaslighted Sammy into thinking he’s Charlie? Surely he’s not that bad of a person!“ Are you sure?
Near the back of the book, Charlie came to a Polaroid of her and Sammy together, infants bright red and squalling on their backs, wearing nothing but diapers and hospital wristbands. On the white space below the picture, someone had written: “Momma’s Boy and Daddy’s Girl.”
It’s implied that Charlie was Henry’s favorite - in fact, this may be why William chooses to grab her. In his grief, it’s entirely possibly he made Sammy think he was Charlie to fill the void. Remember how he handled the situation?
Her father never again spoke her brother’s name, and so Charlie learned not to speak it either, as though to speak it would send them back to that time and unravel them both.
[…] She was afraid to even think it, and she trained her mind to shrink from it until she truly forgot, but deep inside she knew it: Sammy.
And let’s not forget his lovely dismemberment of the frog toy in front of Charlie while she begs him not to hurt it. Something was seriously wrong with him.
This also brings the scene at the end of TSE into a new light. It always seemed kind of odd to end on Henry and Charlie laughing at birds - but in this context, it takes on a much darker done, as Henry very intentionally calls “Charlie“ by his dead sibling’s name, furthering the gaslighting.
Speaking of which, Charlotte is a feminine name, but she likes to shorten it to Charlie - possibly because she subconsciously knows “she’s” not actually a girl.
How about evidence in TTO? First off, the heads that Charlie make seem to lampshade this idea, as /u/PuppetGeist pointed out. It’s emphasized during Charlie’s dream sequence with them, as she pictures them crying for her not to leave them, then pictures matted things hanging from the ceiling - the costumes from the room her twin was taken from.
“You,” said the first. Its lips moved to shape the syllable, but never parted. They weren’t made to open.
“I,” the second replied, making the same soft, constrained movement.
“You are,” said the first.
“Am I?” said the second.
“You are Charlie.“ “I am.“ “You are.“ “Am I?“
Or how about when Charlie’s talking with John about Sammy?
“Like I have another self: someone who’s a part of me and is always with me.”
[…] “Then when I learned the truth, and those memories started coming back to me - John, I felt whole in a way I don’t even know how to describe.
That picture John says is of Charlie when she was a very little girl?
A short, chubby girl gave a toothy grin for the camera - minus one tooth. Charlie smiled back at her. “I don’t remember this.“
And, if you needed it spelled out even further, look what happens when Charlie looks into the mirror:
Her refection looked wrong somehow, off, as if it wasn’t herself she saw, but a copy. Someone else dressed as her.
This was what was happening in TTO. The hallucination-based unused pizzeria is the AU version of CBEAR, and it’s also underground - hence how no one knew where it was and why it was connected to Charlie’s house (think SL’s Breaker Room map). The door that Charlie obsesses over, that she feels a heartbeat through towards the end of the book? That’s where the real Charlie has been this entire time - hence why Charlie feels her presence stronger in the hallucination location.
Springtrap says he took the Charlie we know because he doesn’t know that isn’t the real Charlie. And after Sammy-as-Charlie dies, the actual Charlie shows up - because the door opened right before the house collapsed, given her a chance to escape. This is why John says it “isn’t Charlie“ - note how the real Charlie is wearing a dress of all things, while the Charlie we know prefers pants and jeans.
This is also why the dead doppelganger is brought up early on - it’s foreshadowing to there being more than one Charlie, with one of them being dead by the end of the book.
Finally, as I pointed out in this theory, everything in the TSE books parallels the main lore. Remember the message with the box?
Some things are best left forgotten, for now.
We seem to be playing as the Bitten Child in 4 - the noise-making hallucinogenic devices are what gives the Nightmares their appearances, which means the protag must have seen the Bite. However, each night parallels the minigames in terms of gameplay - including Night 6 and 7, the night after the Bitten Child died. Combine that with the hospital items that the Bitten Child couldn’t have seen because he was comatose, and we have to be playing as the Older Brother.
Just like Charlie, he’s repressed his memory of his dead sibling and now thinks he is that dead sibling - which comes to a climax in FNAF 4, the game paralleled by TTO.
Finally, remember how Scott said the “pieces put together“ were in the box and how the Bitten Child is described as “broken“? And how FNAF World has the pieces be the minigame hints, which you put into place to free the kid’s souls?
I have these dreams where I can feel him on the other side of something, like he’s so close to me, but he’s stuck somewhere. Like he’s in a box, or I’m in a box. I can’t tell.
[…] Charlie leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. Locked in a box, a dark and cramped box, can’t move, can’t see, can’t think. Let me out!
TL;DR: William took Charlie. The Charlie we know was actually Sammy this entire time, gaslighted into thinking he was Charlie by Henry. The actual Charlie shows up at the end of TTO after escaping from behind the door, alive and well.

The implications of “Yenndo” makes the Bite a 100x worse
Don’t get me wrong; the Bite shown in 4 is already pretty bad as it is. However, apparently that wasn’t enough for Scott, because Yenndo manages to kick it up another ten notches.
Let’s start off with the basics for those who aren’t up-to-date on theories. First, we know “Yenndo“ is exactly the same as Funtime Freddy’s endo, except it has yellow eyes (and two hands). Secondly, its behavior in the Custom Night parallels Golden Freddy’s in FNAF 1. Between these two things, we can safely determine that this is actually an endoskeleton of a Funtime Fredbear - something that’s only supported by its nickname (Yenndo = Yellow Endo).
However, we know that Funtime Fredbear isn’t the same Fredbear shown in 4. FT Fredbear is shown to have multiple plates, while FNAF 4 Fredbear is covered in solid cloth. Likewise, FNAF World implies FNAF 4 Fredbear has teal eyes, not the yellow eyes of FT Fredbear, and the map in SL indicates it should have been on stage around the time of CBEAR. Instead, it’s much more likely that it originates from the original Circus Baby’s Pizza World.
(It's also possible that, while the endo originates from CBPW, it was stripped of its suit plating and refurbished into the Fredbear seen in FNAF 4. This is why it's a bear bare endo - they haven't put it into the new suit yet (though this only works if SL takes place very shortly after CBPW opened).)
Now for the bigger question: Why does it exist, and what impact does it have on the story? To answer this, we just need to look at the blueprints for Funtime Freddy, who shares more or less the same endo. And, as you can see, one of FT Freddy/Fredbear’s main features… is a “storage tank“ located in the torso.
Now, let’s pretend you’re a small child visiting CBPW. You leave the room momentarily to get a snack. You come back, peek around the corner… and witness what appears to be a small child getting “eaten” by a “mouth” on Fredbear’s stomach.
But hey, it’s not like there’s anything in FNAF 4 that portrays Fredbear with a mouth on his stomach, now are there?
(Credits to Springtrapattacks here for this connection.)
The implications of Nightmare Fredbear and FT Fredbear are simple: The Bitten Child witnessed another child getting killed by FT Fredbear, and then projected that fear onto FNAF 4 Fredbear, unable to tell the difference between the two of them.
Which leads us back to the Bite: Where the Brother, unaware of this fact, picks up the Bitten Child,** brings him to the animatronic the Bitten Child (thinks he) witnessed murder a kid by “eating” them - and sticks his head in the thing’s mouth **. If the Bite wasn’t bad enough before, it’s far worse now that we have a child being forced into a situation that he basically has PTSD over.
TL;DR: “Yenndo“ is a Funtime Fredbear, and the Bitten Child witnessed it crush a kid in its torso compartment. The Brother bringing him up to another Fredbear and shoving him in its mouth would have only terrified him more thanks to this memory.
