I DID IT !!! I p-ranked the first act of ultrakill for the first time, and made it to minos' boss fight!! :D
#ultrakill#I did it guys I finally p-ranked Gabriel's pussy myself#I've never done it before#it was surprisingly easy#the hardest part was Gabriel's boss fight#I normally have insane style points#like 10-20 thousand#but for his boss fight I was getting like 1800#which is unusual and was infuriating#because he has a long ass path to get to his boss fight >:(#and it was very tedious to have to keep running through it over and over#never got tired of him yelling at me though#I got partway through the flesh prison fight before feeling my carpal tunnel kick in so I stopped there#its easier than I thought#just tedious#because you have to shoot the tiny eye things to keep it from healing#all the while running away from a black hole and large virtue beams#I can see how it would be annoying#but I didn't get my ass handed to me as many times as I thought#excited to meet minos prime myself for the first time!!! :D

george rexstrew deserves awards for many things but i have to say. edwin’s bloodcurdling scream as niko gets killed deserves a whole award unto itself. like. that scream did not feel at all like a tv show scream. to a somewhat jarring degree. and i can’t express how much I respect that
#he has a number of very convincing screams and suffering noises which I imagine was an important prerequisite for the role#but this one is just especially chilling and again. jarring. not saying that the other actors are bad or anything but no one even comes#close to competing with george and its stark in moments like this#another screaming moment that I thought he did really well in particular is far easier to gloss over and that’s#when he and charles are escaping hell and he almost gets dragged down into lust#when he’s screaming out for charles he borderline SCREECHES#throughout that arc in general it’s just incredible but yeah#I think part of what makes it so convincing is that he isn’t afraid to be high pitched and genuinely Scream rather than yell#like. he is clearly immune to being put off by ‘you scream like a girl’ rhetoric#I think a lot of male actors avoid screaming and screeching like that for that internalized reason when. if you wanna be as realistic as#possible. a scream is high pitched. if you’re scared for your fucking life it’s just involuntary#I can also see it being uncommon due to difficulties getting that sound adequately recorded but yeah anyway you get my point#tldr: george rexstrew is great at disturbingly realistic screaming and I applaud him for that#I really hope he didn’t have to retake that part too many times..#his poor throat……….#george rexstrew#edwin#edwin payne#dead boy detectives#dead boy detectives spoilers

after 4 different rounds of this shit steve prides himself on his ability to take pain so he takes it as quietly as he can even bitching and taunting when he can trying to buy time or his own sanity til he can get out or someone comes to rescue him
but in the end steve is only human so he ends up screaming

#and don't even get me started on “unsloth”#this week i learned what “unsloth” actually does when you import it and... man.#i thought i'd seen the worst of “hacky brittle 'it-just-works' (by doing the most cursed shit imaginable) ML python code” but no.#no. unsloth was Worse#and huggingface Trainer is bad enough by itself#did you know it has 131 (one hundred and thirty one!) config arguments and yet it cannot log *more than one loss number at once*#(for like multitask training or whatever)#i don't just mean it's hard to do - i mean its logging mechanism is built from the ground up on the assumption you would never do this.#you'd have to rewrite a bunch of internals to get it working - i.e. basically write a new nontrivial feature on HF's behalf#and just writing your own damn training loop is easier than that lol#it's not that hard kids. take it from me. dataset + dataloader + model(*args) + loss.backward() + opt.step() + opt.zero_grad(). that's it#it'll take you 30 minutes and save you a billion hours down the road#i do not understand computers#(is a category tag)
