Hae Soo is a boring character+ what I do like so far about the story.

Before I start, I want to make it clear that while I do think Hae Soo is a dull FL, she is not the worst FL ever written.

This manhwa is frankly overhyped. I gave it the benefit of the doubt before since it only had around 20-30 chapters so of course it wouldn't be full of complexities right off the bat, but given how the story is going.. I predict this will just be a wattpad-esque tale.

I really don't like saying but first of all: Hae soo has all of those Y/N traits. Okay maybe that's a little exaggerating but it's still there in a way. Hae Soo is described by a lot of other characters as "aging" "ugly" and even calling her aunty/grandma depending on the translation. These are other people thinking this, not just Hae Soo and it's supposed to make her "relatable" for not being seen as totally hot by everyone.. but if you saw her body type and even her face which is just perfectly smooth with tiny lips and eyelashes that just look like eye bags, this gets contradictory.

And I'm not just saying the body type alone is bad. A lot of fans often retaliate with "your just jealous of her" (which why would anyone be unironically jealous of a drawing?) But that her body type is possible and actually yes, it is, is incredibly rare to get that body type without any modifications but it is possible. However this isn't because TOAWF wants to represent someone. Its the sexualize her.

I really dont know how to explain how the art is made to show off how sexy Hae Soo is without sounding creepy so I'll just drop a bunch of panels I found of her doing ordinary day-to-day things while her body becomes the most defining feature.

Personally, I think it's because the arms are too small for that torso. I'm sure there's more but I don't wanna be too nitpicky.

I do also want to specify that plenty of other female characters in the comic like Ari are also sexulized but most of the time with those characters, it's only when they are in inherent sexual situations. (Like all of the panels of Ari after she was either in the middle of or already finished sleeping with Micheol) wheras Hae Soo can be doing absolutely nothing at all and her clothes are drawn right as hell while all her body parts are sticking out like a sore thumb.

Another thing that makes Hae Soo dull is that she relies on how much the readers pity her. Left and right she's either being insulted or she's getting cheated on or she's getting bullied in flashbacks. Almost everything about her that is interesting is something that hurt her, not to say she doesn't have any personality at all, I can definitely see a little something in her but she still heavily relies on something bad happening to her to garner care from the audience, if it's not that it's her super sexy romance with Tae Ha.

speaking of Tae Ha, he isn't very interesting so far either. I think his reasons for being obsessed with Hae Soo are still largely unknown, hes mostly just the same "Mafia boyfriend." Archetype, he made a straight up doll to look like Hae Soo which..yeah that's creepy. He is only really liked because well, he's hot and NOT Micheol so he's already "better".

What I do like about TOAWF though is that they aren't skipping scenes just to get to the mid romance. We are actually getting chapters explaing Hae Soo and Micheols relationship before and how it used to be a sweet one until debt and miscarriage. We get to see Micheol with his new life with Ari that has hints of how much she is being manipulated. The comments might say "I don't wanna see trash. I wanna see my sexy Tae Ha with his Hae Soo." But differing perspectives and highlighting other characters is what's saving this story a little. You can't just skip all the important pieces for the "good stuff." And expect a good story.

That said I do understand the commenter's impatience because so far Micheol is leagues more interesting then the ML Tae Ha and like me, we just wanna know why this dude randomly liked Hae Soo to the point of making dolls of her. There just needs to be a middle ground between the two perspectives.

Final thoughts: I don't think Micheol should receive karma. I know, a really weird idea but here me out.

I understand the allure of these types of stories where the babe gets revenge on the loser ex but if we wanted to be both a unique and interesting story than Micheol being allowed to live on being a shitty person would work. It would be awful to think about, yes, but this is unfortunately the real world and in the real world, it is REALLY rare that a cheater will actually face karma. Micheol should be allowed his life with Ari, where she could either realize she's in an abusive relationship down the line and find the courage to nope out of there or she could stay and it would be a tragic ending and the painful truth that life isn't always fair. This could work well as long as the plot doesnt make it out as "Haha Ari! You deserve this! Haha!"

Hello! today i redesigned alastor from hazbin hotel i'll put some design notes and fun facts below

DESIGN NOTES: his name is alistair with my redesign because it is objectively a better name gave him a more anthro look it was hard figuiring out how to use a deer head for him but i got it eventually im awesome tried to stick away from the reds; i get it it was chosen because of the ring, but its just not a thing i wanted to do for my design tried to use more natural colors because obviously, an actual deer, but i also just dont use green very often and i quite like green suits tried to make his look more like something you'd see from the 30's in new orleans his grippers are out more jewelry because why not id also want him to own a pocket watch but i didnt feel like drawing it this took forever more pictures of him below;

LORE BITS: his entire body is a taxidermied deer, so no organs or muscles or blood or anything of the sort, he is full of cotton, wool, and iron wiring- because of this he moves statically and slowly even with his polite and elegant manerisms his shadow does most of the work for him and he just chills his voice comes from his microphone, he simply opens his jaw as he speaks to be polite he has a neon version specifically for a good day or to freak people out, i mostly just did this for fun because i like neon alastor in the show id imagine he would be best portrayed with real life puppet animation, mostly refrencing coraline bright colors;

it was fun taking this concept and imagining it as if it were in a world i created, let it be known i am not the biggest fan of hazbin hotel or helluva boss but i appreciate the attention its brought to indie animation and the people it inspires

ok slow day on the blog so im about to get all soppy and artsy. Because a) this man drives me insane and i continously try to figure out why slash justify it to myself and b) i am so obsessed right now with that one leg muscle that kinda goes flat when you sit but also is a key part of how to structure the leg when drawing. Blah blah blah hockey butts yeah great but what if... hockey inner thigh....

Anyway im gonna adress a trend i have noticed in the pens fandom mostly displayed through passive aggression towards me or other creators...and that's the use of references. There seems to be this idea that using references is lazy or cheating or means that this person isn't making 'real' art. And im gonna call some bullshit. Every single artist since someone decided to paint their hand and try to recreate a cow on a cave wall with their thumb has used references. Talk to real commercial artists and they use WAY more references than you can imagine. My current job is super stylized and unique. But back when i worked in hyper realism on C*ll of Dooty and superheroes and stuff? Never not once did the illustrators not utilize references. Often us 3D artists were given a photo with a posed actor, which we used to pose the 3D model, which then was illustrated on top of directly by the illustrator. Those artists had to churn out hundreds of illustrations a month. They did not have time to get precious about it.

And lets talk about 'sourcing'. Yes, if you copy a photo directly almost pixel for pixel an artist should probably reveal their source. But so rarely is this the case. If you put any kind of spin on it - your own style, change the colors, add or subtract the background - that is YOUR art and there is no need to link to or include the damn 'source'. It's not a 'source' at that point. That would be like asking the amazing folks who photoshop artistic 'edits' together using photos and brushes to link to the original photos at the bottom of all their posts. This is just silly.

You want to know what commercial artists did before the internet? My old friend here has a studio from the 70s-2000s that has an entire wall full of neatly organized stacked drawers of printed references, a lot of it clipped from magazines and books. Each of them labeled by subject matter. And this artist worked in some of the most famous advertizing studios during that era.

So, coming back around to hockey thighs, because I know there are certain folks in the pe*ns fandom that get annoyed and angry at my daily drawings (which is so sad by the way, get a life). I have to admit this is the first time this has ever happened in a fandom so it threw me for a loop. But I also know there are younger artists out there who follow me so I want to explain my process a little. Most of my daily doodles are studies - its one of the reasons its been easier to do them during my illness than any more serious creative work. When i doodle i am looking at references and trying to recreate that as i see it. The key point being 'as i see it'. I am usually trying to learn things like: in this photo what about the lighting is compelling, and how can i make it more so? Or what is the focus of the drawing and how can i let the rest of it fade? Or whats the main gesture and how do i exaggerate that? And always, always im trying to study anatomy from new angles. For me its not enough to learn what a 'knee' looks like because the shape of the knee and the muscles around it change depending on how it's posed. And it is often those changes that make it so beautiful. Or in this case that beautiful sexy stretch of thigh between geno's knee and groin.

Often times if i imagine a 'pose' in my head, i will then go pull as many references as i can where the body's limbs are roughly arranged how i want it and then draw those over and over until i feel like i have enough of a grasp on that anatomy to recreate it for myself. So please, dont listen to the haters, use those references or dont use them freely. the haters are idiots who are projecting their own fear of inadequacy and learning to be creative onto you. <3

In my next essay i will discuss how baffled and humbled i am by the way my love for geno's face has utterly transformed my artistic eye...

Glad you asked, i have a lot to say about it, skip to the end for a tldr Viewing animals as concepts and visuals that you can make a persona out of contributes to the perception of animals (and others in general) being commodities. It derealizes animals and anthropomorphizes them, it is not a way to respect or portray animals, its the opposite.

I dislike therians for the same reasons and also because its a delusion like any other, and no different from religion, gender ideology, or trans race believers. Its furry taken even further into full blown delusion. They both also often buy leather and real fur and shit for their stupid costumes, especially if they go to ren fairs. i hate that theres more art of anthropomorphized endangered species than there are members of those endangered species. i hate that cows are sexually exploited while people are making "strawberry milk cowsonas uwu" with giant boobs and straw hats and shirts that say "milk!" Need i even mention all the zoophilia coded art. Ive worked as a freelance artist for over a decade, the massive number of furries that request zoophilia porn (art of getting penetrated by or raping animals), sometimes of their real pets which they would send me (normal) images of, made me no longer care that supposedly most furries "only like sfw furry art" (i call absolute bullshit and even if true idc) or "only like anthro furry porn" (thats still zoophilia in my eyes, no im not sorry, it literally is, especially if you cant get off without the animal imagery or you prefer it over human imagery). everytime someone requested a "sfw full body nude ref" they never gave their character human genitals. Always animal genitals. like bruh you literally want animal penis/vagina, you just (supposedly) wouldnt touch a real animal on principle. My parents used to give me animals like they were toys when i was young. They did not care what happened to them. All the media i was surrounded with as a kid reinforced this idea that animals are toys, toys that exist for self indulgent dopamine farming, even if i never would have said that, even if i would have gotten mad at anyone who outright said it. even if i thought this media made me an animal lover. it did not. and as a result, i saw many animals terribly die. yes, huge blame on my parents of course, but we dont live in a world that respects or cares about animals as it is and this type of content just doesnt help like people think it does. it doesnt teach you respect for animals. it teaches you to love animals the way you love candy. something you play with, and consume. its bad.

I want people to create sonas without using animal body parts as a way to convey tropes and archetypes that harmfully or just incorrectly skew peoples perception of real animals. i want to see animal characters that are neither anthro nor "feral" (toony animal body but anthro behaviors and thoughts) but are instead just written and portrayed like real animals and respected. i am not opposed to anime because while most of it is creepy, depicting toddler faced girls on childrens sexualized bodies, this disturbing objectification element isnt inherent to the style or subject matter and there are plenty of anime that depict people more normally. furry on the other hand is inherently objectifying and i wish drawing furry art was not so socially acceptable. its not like i think everyone should only draw animals exactly the way they look in reality, but you can stylize them in countless ways that arent anthropomorphizing.

i also hate fiction where theres a race of animal people and still a subclass of non anthro animals that are being exploited. it just furthers this idea that real animals dont matter, you can even pretend to be them while you kill and eat them if you want. i just really hate all of it. ive never seen any piece of furry media that doesnt disrespect animals and i think it inherently cannot be respectful to them.

mythical animal characters are a bit of a gray area. if they are depicted like real animals, just different (like a dragon that is clearly cat coded) that doesnt bother me really. the ones that are human coded with no animal parts based on real animals are usually fine too. its the grody and often sexualized blending of human and nonhuman animal that i dont like.

this is a very long and rambly rant but tldr:

-sexual furry art is zoophilia

-sfw furry art is still gratification based in objectification of others (and sfw art still can arouse people which is why its important to be mindful of subject matter no matter how youre drawing it, not a victim blaming thing, just saying accountability as a creator is important)

this one is almost impossible for me to answer there are a tonne of stories I really like but to name a few. My favourite Ive mine I have personally written might be....Jun Gets Huge, Or Just a Bit Bigger or even Linkin it Big. I dunno i write a lot of stuff haha One of my favourites of others transforming me was Octusle's story where I put all the settings to max and was just made massive, or even Transformation4Life's story "Protein Makes the Body Grow Bigger" where a guy gets so massive the only thing he can wear is a skin tight poser.

9. All Good TFs Need to Have...?

For me a good draw / plot. It doesnt have to be expertly written to be great (hell I know some of my stuff is messy because I dont read and write good) but its gonna draw me in and get me invested and hold my attention.

20. What's Your Favourite TF Fantasy?

Haha, I swap this around a lot, often I find an image and get attached and spend ages fantasising about it until either I can get someone to write it for me or I write something using it or both but currently two fantasy situations have me drooling and wishing it would happen to me.

The first fantasy I have right now is there being a sample of 4 dark chocolate protein cupcakes at the gym, and after eating one deciding they taste good and taking the last 3 home with me eating them on the way and falling alseep when I get home only to wake up as a giant hunky black bro with a faint smell of musk.

only Im a lot more giant than I originally thought quickly realising I'm 11ft tall, built like a truck and that faint smell of musk is really an extremely potent stench of sweat that has all the weaker men dropping to their knees as I walk by unable to handle the stench.

and of course being so big having to eat a tonne of protein making me have a room shaking belch after I finish sculling a protein shake.

-- the second TF fantasy I'm currently thinking a lot about is more forced/tricked tf of going to the gym and being offered a new shake by a huge Asian hunk only for it to turn me into a hot Asian jock.

then after becoming obsessed with the size and muscle asking for another shake and swelling almost twice as big, growing bigger with every sip.

only to feel extremely uncomfortable and bloated belching as I lift, trying to get the pressure to go down. Being offered a 3rd shake but turning it down only for me to be forced to drink it, forced against my will to get bigger.

Becoming so bloated its visible, unable to say a full sentence without belching 6 or 7 times between each work. Way to big for a shirt and just being forced to become an absolute muscle slob.

19. where do you find inspiration?

many places! sometimes i take pictures of cars with face-like headlight designs or normal objects that look like they could be creatures if i worked at them. if anything in the open catches my eye ill snap a picture of it. traveling and seeing new kinds of architecture is usually really good for my creative juices too so i like to look around a lot whenever i go somewhere out of the ordinary. a lot of the pictures that inspire me can be found in my #alien insp tag as well, even though thats to help me worldbuild my stellaris-fic-turned-spec-bio(?) thing its also usually filled with arrangements of shapes and colors that tickled my brain and that i hope to replicate the feeling of. i also take a lot of inspiration from how music makes me feel. more often than not though its just a random lightning bolt idea or a recycling of an old concept

12. describe your process while drawing

if i wanted to go in full depth this would be a very long response that would go all through how i color and do lighting and decide certain things and what i hope to achieve in character designs as a whole but to give you the answer in short, ill just talk about my sketches and how i use shapes, because i consider those two things the most important parts of my process. first of all my sketches are terrible. oftentimes theyre so vague that if i never make progress on them and then return a week later, i wont understand whats happening.

i mention this because i feel like i see people get wrapped up in making their sketch look good too often, and to that i say NO! an adequate sketch to me is something you could wipe your ass with! besides it helps me get the idea on paper while focusing on what i know i want to be the important part(s) of the piece.

for shapes:

yes, part of the reason why this ask took a little while to get to is because i was whipping up this and glass arena (the spikey one) was not cooperating with me and its sort of haphazard i know i know

but the gist of it is that generally what i will do is pick one or a select few dramatic shapes to dominate their design and then focus on accentuating that particular shape. sometimes as im creating a character, what that central shape is will change midway. i will also usually design the head of a character before the body, A, because its more fun, and B, since the head is small and also usually heavily reflective of the central shape, understanding exactly what shape i want makes it easier to make a body that works with/mirrors it (and then possibly make some tweaks to an already established head) instead of trying to figure out the head and body at the same time. i get that is not the ideal way to do it but i am also not a professional and sort of just winging it through everything ive ever done

im also at least somewhat attentive about the curves of lines which is what all of those red lines are for, the blue circles on glass arena and zmeu are to show where the lines concentrate. interestingly enough this sort of focal point usually isnt on the face but instead the neck because what happens most of the time for humanoids is that the (stylized) slopes of the eyebrows to the sides of the nose (or at least the form of a shape that represents this) creates a downwards arrow, which usually works well with an "upwards arrow" on the chest to sort of "pinch" the lines together at the point in between the head and chest. this is exactly what happened for them both, though for zmeu his downwards arrow is just his entire head. i dont usually draw the "focal point" but i see it in my head and try to make adjacent lines feed into it. some characters like am (semi-circle head) dont have one though, but there is still a general trend in the lines, you can see in her headshot i tried to make the lines be "parallel" or to flip/mirror the curvature of her headdress.

again i could go more into depth about my art process if anyone'd be interested in a fuller detailing, but it'd have to be a separate post. thank you for asking though, i like talking about my process!

Hi stiff!! I was writing this as a comment but I think it’s a better ask. It’s very long and I will not be upset if you don’t answer! :3

I think part of peoples aversion to it is that it doesn’t conform to the style people are used to seeing online by popular artists. There’s this sorta phenomenon I’ve noticed where people tend to move their style towards a very cartoon/anime ish style with little variation because it’s pretty and that’s what people/algorithms like. People gravitate moreso if they intend on selling their art though.

So, when someone has a stylistic choice that doesn’t really fit that mould people find it “weird”. Exaggerated features (or in this case and many others like, a feature people just have???) are often seen as ugly or strange. An example of this is the person on TikTok who drew characters with big foreheads and lower eyes and got bullied off the platform for it! Another example could be “the tumblr art style” where commentary channels bullied artists who drew any minority ever or “ugly” features. It really exemplifies to me how online culture (especially on western apps) views western standards of beauty as the only way people can be beautiful. And why, in their mind, would someone create art that isn’t beautiful in that way unless they’re trying to be weird or make a statement? When, in reality, the beauty is in that they’re drawing what they see, what they want to see, and what they think is beautiful. Without diversity in what we consider beauty there is no beauty.

In this case it also feels a bit. Weird. To have the big nose be such a big issue. I don’t see people getting mad at hooked nose scar? How is this any different? There is nothing different about the way you draw scar now and the way you drew him before aside from that. You’ve always drawn him with body hair and fat and with these details that really just. Humanize him. And I think the point I’m trying to make here is that drawing people with big noses or crooked eyes or acne scars isn’t bad or weird and only adds to your art. It only makes you a better artist and I’ve genuinely watched you improve really really fast as you’ve drawn these characters with so much body diversity. Anyway. Big nose scar sweeeeep

honestly yea. sometimes when i see people draw certain characters it almost feels like theyre afraid of making them "unattractive" if you know what i mean? like i dont know how else to describe it but its really weird.

making their nose smaller, giving female characters bigger eyes and fuller lips, drawing only skinny characters, drawing older people with less wrinkles then they actually have or should have etc. and like people can draw whatever they want of course but tbh i see those "unattractive" parts as beautiful.

like i genuinely think wrinkles are pretty. i think big noses, hooked noses, small noses, crooked noses or just any kind of noses are beautiful. i think someones lips dont have to be full to look pretty. i think fat people and skinny people and just all kinds of people are beautiful. acne scars and and skin markings of any kind are beautiful.

idk just all those things and imperfections even make people beautiful to me.

like i find diversity beautiful and its kinda sad that some people dont see it that way? not everyone is skinny and buff, not all women will have the perfect hourglass figure or full lips etc.

those body types are beautiful too of course but sometimes i feel like people should see beauty in other body types and features as well.

no i appreciate the rambling!!! thank u for the recommendations :) for some reason i tend to struggle more with free tutorials, i think because i feel less pressure to finish them whereas with paid ones im like ok i spent real actual money on this i should probably make sure im not wasting it lmao. but i will probably check out that first one you linked for sure since that was one of the ones i was already looking at!! ngl i use blender so infrequently that i feel like i always forget Literally Everything about how to use it every time i go back to it so beginner friendly is probably a good thing lmao.

tbh im not expecting to get too much into texturing & stuff yet since i mostly just want basic face models to use for consistency when drawing my ocs from different angles... but like. i say that, but then that means i might as well do full body models & rig them so i can also use them to get proportions & poses more accurate... and if i want to have references for different expressions i should probably also learn how to rig faces... & if im gonna do all that i might as well texture them too. and i guess add like clothes, and hair thats not just a solid unmoving chunk lmao. for some reason textures just scare me tho lmao wdym you took a 3d thing and cut it up into a flat image. like i get it in theory but my brain Does Not Like It.

BUT i think topology is definitely a big thing i want to focus on. its definitely something i struggle with... mostly bc i havent really looked into how to do it properly yet. i have an old model that ive been chipping away at every so often for like. idk a few years? (i really, really dont use blender often lmao) and im still struggling to get the topology on the face to look good. honestly i should probably just restart it but i dont wanna :( but i did get one of those bundles with retopoflow a while back!! i just havent actually checked it out yet lmao. also that chart should definitely come in handy bc the head/neck connection is one of the parts thats been giving me trouble on the model i mentioned, i have one spot on it thats just connected weird no matter how much i try to fix it so hopefully i can reference that to figure something out.

felt!!!! the consequences make it something you Gotta do. and fellllt at the whole second paragraph, i was like "wellllll i'm just going to learn to model simple stuff to make the buildings in a comic i'm working on to make doing backgrounds easier :)" and that was a lie. it was a lie it was a huge lie. learning is my favorite pastime it was never going to just be simple building blocks.

the course does cover this and setting up seams on your model to unwrap from in a way that makes it very understandable luckily! my only complaint is that blender's painting system is camera oriented instead of vertex oriented like sculpting is. but as long as you keep rotating your model around and fixing things and making use of the mask tool to get sharper edges, it's not too bad

and @ paragraph 3 y e a those bundles come with so many addons that i'm like. well i Gotta get it. and then i do not touch them because i'm doing so many sculpts that i don't do anything with once i get to the hair stage 😭 i'm just too lazy for hairrr. but i think retopoflow does make understanding retopology a Bit easier once you know how to use it since it automates some things that are finnicky in blender like relaxing the topology to make the quads more even. one thing flycat does in a few videos is skip the sculpt completely and just do the low poly from scratch just using subdividing once or twice?? there were a lot of little topology tricks i picked up from this one. restarting the topology on your model might not be a bad idea just to refresh on how you did it before, but i know there's some built in stuff in blender now like drawing edges and mayyybe faces from the annotate tool?? and that makes it a lot easier. it's all just finding the motivation to finish the project, which i struggle with too 🥲 you and me buddy we got this.

which you probably want to read first for context, but i made it a new post so i could put spoilers under a cut and because it is kinda a separate idea from that posts considerations. speaking of which, rather long post and also it contains dwarf fortress spoilers at the very end.

exclusively aquatic people - can't get them normally whether in fortress or adventure mode, but there's an interesting idea of having either an exclusively aquatic fortress or a separate section of your fortress with their own flooded workshops and beds and stuff (can they still use them though? would that even work?). the only reason they would be interesting despite this inconvenience and the possibility of them not even functioning, where amphibious people basically dont matter, is the species - sperm whale people are even fucking bigger than elephant people (5x more, jesus), and ?from what i can tell? cuttlefish, squid, and octupus people actually get the full set of limbs from the original animal plus 2 arms and 2 legs, so they have a ton of arms? but thats of dubious use since i think the main value draw of that is using more shields and its gonna be hard to field your aquatic-people as soldiers, lol.

anyway i mean idk how much of a benefit to productivity the extra strength of an elephant person is vs the value for combat, and even then, i would assume it plateaus long before you get to being 200 times the size of a dwarf. i guess maybe you could use dwarves for convenient surface work and then if a megabeast shows up you use forbidding to force them through an underwater path where a crack team of a dozen supersoldiers lay in wait. actually oh man that's interesting. if they're able to sleep and use training halls normally so long as you have a fully submerged area of your fort, and you dont care about them crafting (even better to ensure theyre as trained as possible), all you need to deal with is dropping meals and gear into the water for them, instead of worrying about getting items *they* craft out of the water.

a well equipped and trained dwarven squad can handle most megabeasts but some can still be a problem; assuming you can produce equipment for spermwhalepeople normally, i think even if your sperm whale people soldiers are only mediocre in skill, they will be larger and stronger than most megabeasts. a dwarf with good armor can take some serious hits from creatures far larger than it, but a spermwhaleperson with good armor? i think even when they take a hit it would barely do anything to them. maybe i dont understand the way damage accumulates on large creatures though, idk.

as for weapons, obviously a huge monster has just a lot of force behind their attacks, but their contact area for attacks are big and the material hardness isnt that high. the strength of a megabeast but using steel (or divine metal or adamantine) material characteristics, and the contact area of a weapon allowing it to do critical damage more often against any defenses. the only thing that would trump it in defensive capabilities would be procgen megabeasts with metal bodies, and even then, because of the contact area of a weapon vs natural attacks, they should fall. plus your soldiers have combat skills and also, masterwork gear is super effective so that narrows the gap a little bit. definitely still a risk, but i mean. metal procgen monsters decimate any normal fort unless you can permanently trap them or you use an atom smasher to kill them, and here we're talking about you might lose a couple soldiers in a frontal fight of one squad vs one megabeast. oh, also special attacks from procgen creatures. actually those matter a lot, your sperm whale supersoldiers are still vulnerable to syndromes.

SPOILERS AHEAD

but uh. I mean, okay, they're never fighting angels because they're exclusively stationed in their underwater tank and can't travel over land to a vault (also, that isn't a common occurrance anyway and history/mission combat works differently from combat in the normal game area such that (i'm told) a few well equipped and skilled squads can successfully take a vault even if they'd be annihilated by the same angels if the fight took place in the fort. but demons you fight in the fort have grand master combat skills and there are *tons* of them, whereas even with the terrifying prospect of the metal bodied forgotten beast or titan, there's only one of them vs your whole squad. plus against multiple demons its even more likely that the vulnerability of syndromes ends up fucking you over.

i would have sworn that demons and angels can also get a full set of divine metal masterwork gear but i think that might be only true for archangels and ?possibly also unique demons in spires?. in any case, that uh. rather closes the gap that was created by being able to use dwarven equipment, and even overcomes it, but those you only fight one on one so you have the advantage of numbers instead of like thirty HFS clowns.

also uh, despite all of this waxing on about the power of having soldiers that are literally *even bigger* than megabeasts (by fuckin 20%!!!), i think its worthy of consideration whether you could just, yknow, have elephantpeople instead. just seems a lot easier, theyre still goddamn huge, probably a hell of a lot easier to have a whole squadron of them compared to dealing with your second-fort-inside-your-fort and needing to like fenagle to get megabeasts to pathfind through the underwater chamber instead of just sending a squad to kill them with minimal effort. plus you could preemptively hunt down beasts in the caverns to make it safe for your dwarves to go down there instead of needing to react. and like, we know that number beats size from existing dwarf vs megabeast combat. so its pretty certain that 5 elephantpeople drastically outperform 1 spermwhaleperson.

naruto actually has a couple chapters where he introspects and reflects on his childhood. it also includes a fist fight against his persona 4 style shadow self. he is no less unhinged about sasuke for this. sasuke on the other hand oh yeah not a shred of reflection or lessons learned, he's running full throttle on emotions only not a single thought in that boys head. no thoughts head empty only angst and violence.

if the jinchuuriki seal weakens during pregnancy why do you keep sealing them in women.

make kakashi a part of anbu at like 12 and sends him of deadly assasinations. but no he cant fight the kyuubi at 15 like lol he's definitely seen worse at this point

538 kishimoto is so trying to make this a thing. he just thought of it and now is trying to retcon the series, again. because none of the spars or fights until now have had this finger thing.

Kishimoto is a master of asspull no jutsu and retcon no jutsu and sudden power up no jutsu but it usually its at least connected. Like with itachi/sasukes sharingan with the left and right eyes just like how amaterasu and tsukiyomi were born of izanagi washing his left and right eyes. And then susanoo finished out the trio of powers/gods. I guess also foreshadowing that izanagi is also a jutsu. Havent seen izanami yet tho.

oh im not done got about another 160 chapters but i've been skipping around and jumping back and forth between the anime and manga. the anime has filler but a lot of the filler is actually pretty decent (and the only time women get screentime) the anime also includes novel information and in some plaes the pacing and presentation of events is actually better. i also got nostalgic and reread some of og naruto

when i said i was talking about drawing naruto i wasn't saying the the series in general i mean the obnoxious hyperactive orange jumpsuit wearing idiot. idk how much you saw but mid 2000s had loads of fan art like this was just after shippuden released and when people drew naruto in his 20s it was always with longer hair which i think is interesting since kishimoto gave him short short hair for his 30s. there's also the changing artstyle from the first anime to the newest as well as in the manga and i find that all interesting so i was thinking of making a refernce sheet for naruto essentially detailing how his appearance changes over time filled with head canons of course.

oh when i say filler i dont just mean filler episodes. the episodes themselves are often paced slow to drag things out or have unnecessary flashbacks. so you have opening and sponsors 2min replay of last part of earlier ep 5min ed + preview + skit 3min +3 min of flashbacks and at a 23min run time theres only really about 10min of content per ep

I can understand wanting to hide the rinnegan but sasuke already was THE emoboy of the 2000s he doesnt need to look more emo. But if he had long hair would it be flat like itachi or spikey like madara?

Back to the double suicide pact. I've mainly heard about double suicides in japan in the context of lovers' suicide (i think hxh references this too) where two lovers decide to simultaneously kill themselves because circumstances wont allow them to be together in this life in hopes they can be together in the next. And thats literally what naruto proposes. Ah where the quote... Its like if we die i will no longer be the jinchuriki and you'll no longer be an uchiha we will be free of our burdens. If i cant be with you in this life i'd rather die and wait to be reincarnated with you. Naruto chooses death with sasuke over life as hokage im not over this. I'll take all your hatred so that you are freed from it. Like, bruh, wow.

Another thing i dont like about boruto is that naruto and sasuke dont have matching arms anymore. Its important that they match

having the sharingan evolve into the rinnegan is classic kishimoto bullshit. he just wanted another power level up. the sharingan is so closely tied to the uchiha clan with shinto imagery and then the rinnegan… well its used to create cheap narrative tension to give naruto an op villian to fight via nagato. the rinnegan is associated with buddhist imagery and divinity in naruto-verse and gets like the most random mix of powers kishimoto was clearly scrapping the dregs of his brain for cool power ideas. the 6 paths worked for the pain aesthetic but does mesh at all with the rinnegan's status as ultimate eye. you get attraction/repulsion, mechs, soul extraction, big animal summon, chakra absorption, revive the dead, some other weird summon. basically its whatever kishimoto needed at the time to make pain threatening with his usual 0 thoughts given to the implication for the whole series.

but genuinely how do you feel comfortable setting prices for your comissions so high? do they sell out?

i ask because to sell comms i have to criminally undervalue my art (legit 8$ for a full body drawing) but no one ever buys comms if its more expensive.

how do you do it.

It's not mean! Artists pricing their work fairly is something I strongly advise and would like to advocate for more often, because I used to undercharge a fair bit as well. I don't take offense to people thinking my prices are high, because I know they're not anywhere close to industry standard, and that plenty of people can afford my commissions, because I do get a consistent stream of clients.

I'd like to get a little more in detail with commission pricing since I know it could be useful advice to artists who have less experience. But it's the end of my work day and this all might be somewhat scattered, so TLDR: I'm comfortable with how I price my commissions because of the time and skill that I put into them, and because I need to price them like that as art is my full-time job.

Now for the long version... To start off with, this is all based on my multiple years of doing art as a full-time job. I started doing commissions in 2017, supported myself through college with my art, and now am financially independent with an apartment lease. In the end this is all from my opinions / perspective, but I do have experience.

I base my prices on an hourly rate that I determined using this wonderful Twitter thread on accurately pricing commissions as a full-time artist. This may not be what you specifically need, but I recommend anyway since it's a great example of pricing your commissions in a way that's fair for you.

Once you've calculated an hourly rate, it's just a matter of timing how long it takes for you to finish a commission-quality piece from start to finish and using that to figure out what the base price of that specific commission type should be. Then you can consider things like add-ons (rendering, additional characters, etc) and upcharges (deadline fee, multiple correction rounds, etc.)

Adjusting your prices to your needs, demand and turnaround time can take a lot of finagling. I constantly adjust my prices, though I try to bump them up by a small bit every few months to account for my growing portfolio and audience, economic inflation, and how much I need to charge in sales taxes. Yes - add sales tax to your prices if you make any substantial amount with art. You can do so easily on Paypal and Stripe invoices! Otherwise, you're gonna get slammed with owed taxes come tax season, since taxes aren't automatically being deducted from your "paychecks" and sent to the gov like salary jobs. Trust me, it's happened to me, and I'm still paying off my 2021 taxes.

Also, doing the actual art is only half of, well, doing art as a job. The other half is what I call "housekeeping" or "agent" work - communicating with clients, building and updating a website/portfolio, posting finished pieces to art galleries, building a recognizable online presence/brand/aesthetic, and actively advertising your work in a way that gets both old and new eyes on it. And you need to keep in mind that this is work too, that you need to be paid for.

Adding all of that on top of what you might originally price your work at may seem excessive or intimidating, but everyone deserves a living wage. Learning to keep that in mind will help your confidence in pricing your work fairly.

Now for a few more tips:

Advertising can be hard because of social media algorithms and economic hardships, but you just gotta keep at it. Learn what type of posts work for you! I recommend using concise, clear language and easy-to-read layouts. Keeping a kind of consistent "template" to your advertisements can help people recognize that it's you before they even start reading.

As you grow your audience and portfolio, you can build a good reputation by being consistent and honest. Communication and turnaround time are huge. I personally give an estimated turnaround of 1-2 months to allow for sick days, weekends, delays and other obligations. Having a solid terms of service is really helpful too. I'm a-ok with anybody referencing mine, even copy/pasting it and adjusting it as you need. Feel free to!

Having small income on the side has been a huge help to doing art as a full-time job, if you're at all interested in it. I get pocket change every week from lineart base sales on my Ko-fi shop, but it really adds up. Patreon is a bigger investment since it operates on a monthly subscription basis. Personally, I use about half of the monthly pledges I get to pay for manufacturing stickers and postage. Even if you don't have a LOT to offer, if you want to do art for an audience and have people looking to support you, Patreon or similar sites might be worth looking into. Monthly sketch dumps, speedpaints, streams etc for a few bucks is more appealing to people than you might think, especially if it's things like storybuilding or character designs. People like getting invested in things!

I hope this helps you in some way, and maybe others out there too. It's taken me years to get to this point, so don't get discouraged! Underpricing art has become such an issue, especially on sites like Amino and DeviantArt that it's affecting artists' self-esteem and view on how they should price their work. But there are always people willing to pay for art. Art is a luxury and should be priced as such! It should be available for those who are seeking it out, not for everyone.

Xiao's not accustomed with humans enough to know what you're doing may possibly be considered odd. That doesn't mean it doesn't shock him, though.

At first, he kind of just... sits there. He's a little confused, to be honest. You didn't seem to be angry with him or reacting in self-defense, so he didn't feel a reason to move away from you.

Xiao doesn't really react much at all. If he can sense it's something affectionate from you, however, he may reach up and rest a hand atop your head for a moment. He may even give you his best awkward attempt at a smile.

Even if he learns that giving a little bite here or there isn't a typical "normal" thing for humans to do, he's not phased. He does things that aren't "normal" either, and it's just another part of you.

When he does realize it's affectionate, he may blush just a little bit. It's hard to pick up on, as he's always a little curt anyway, but his body language gives him away a little.

At first, it's just embarrassment, but later on, it's because he's overwhelmed. Not in a bad way, though. He's just overwhelmed with how much love he feels for you tugging at his heartstrings.

Sometimes you look at him, your eyes glittering with mirth, as you gently bite him, and he feels his heart swelling. You always do it so carefully, and it reinforces the idea that you really do love him.

Eventually, Xiao may even try to bite you back. It's a slow, tedious process, but one night as you sit together atop Wangshu Inn, he hesitantly takes your hand in his and raises it to his mouth. The amount of pressure he applies is so light you can barely feel it, but it's because he's afraid of hurting you. He wanted to show you he loves you, not injure you.

His expression was hesitant and worried, afraid you would express disdain and discomfort at his actions. But when you simply laughed, your voice full of joy as it's carried away by the wind, he finds the love bubbling up in his chest once more.

He adopts the habit from you but the frequency with which he does it is still much lesser than how often you do.

What you may have never put much thought into quickly becomes something of a reassurance to Xiao. Whenever you do it, you always do so carefully and gently. You always remind him you're there and you love him. It makes him feel so warm and so happy. Sometimes, after you've been particularly affectionate with him, you'll find him later in the day with flowers he picked squished together tightly inside of his clenched palm. Other times, he'll simply take your hand once more and gingerly bite the back of it.

Regardless, he always seeks to give back the gentle love you offer him. Please keep being tender with him, it makes him so happy.

At first, Albedo laughed good-naturedly at your habit. He certainly wasn't expecting it, but that's what makes you so interesting. You always blow him right out of the water.

He's not particularly minded, as long as you don't do it while he's drawing or doing something important in which sudden movements could be detrimental.

Unlike Xiao, Albedo doesn't really make the move to bite you back. Instead, he often reaches out to ruffle your hair slightly, looking at you with a small, somewhat crooked smile. At least he seems to think you're cute?

He often chuckles slightly when you greet him with a hug and attempt to bite him. Your sweet affections always help him wind down after a long day of research.

He may question you "why" after a while. Not because he dislikes it or anything, he's just curious. He's never heard of someone biting another to show love. No, not even from Klee, and she often shows how much she loves the people important to her in varying ways.

Albedo listens carefully when you tell him that it's just a silly, sweet way you wanted to show him you loved him. He laughs slightly, telling you it's alright. He really doesn't mind!

He might jokingly attempt to nip at you, but he doesn't really feel the need to mimic you. He shows affection in his own way and you show it in yours.

It's kind of hard to bite him though, sadly. He covers a lot of his skin and is often working. You'll have to be crafty if you don't want to just bite him around his elbows every single time.

He never minds. He's always interested in seeing what you'll come up with next. You're a clever little thing, and you always keep him on his toes. That's something he likes about you, though, so it makes it almost a fun little game.

He's confused almost immediately. He's been alive for so long, but he doesn't think he can remember anyone trying to bite him before.

For a second, he's worried that he's upset you and you're reacting the same way a cat does. He gently asks you if you're alright and if there's anything he can get you, and his confusion only grows further as you blink at him in complete silence for a moment.

He's a bit surprised when you say you just wanted to show him love that way, but he's not against it either. Good luck getting past all those clothes, however. He's got quite a lot of layers on and only his neck is really ever exposed.

Sometimes, if the two of you are doing something sweet like sitting by the fire together at night, and you cheekily give him a little bite, he'll chuckle softly and reach over to lovingly squeeze your hand or knee.

He won't bite you back either, but he'll always make sure to return the affection you give him almost immediately.

He always seems to smile warmly at you after you do it as if he views you like a cute kitten biting at its owner.

Zhongli too tends to be a bit of a physically affectionate lover. He often rests his hand on the small of your back when the two of you walk, or he might offer you his arm or hand. He likes feeling connected to you, so he can understand why you too show love through something small like a bite.

Besides, it's a reminder that the erosion has not yet gotten to you, too.

Sometimes he'll give you a small kiss on your body matching wherever you bit him. You gave him a small little nom on his cheek? Well, then, come here, dearest. Allow him to return the favor.

Ultimately, Zhongli just views it as the way you show him love, and that's all. It's the same as you just outright saying "I love you" to him, and he's fine with that.

Oh, how he laughs the first time. It's hearty and bright. You best be prepared, comrade. He instantly leans over to give you one in return. Let's hope you aren't in public...

Childe does actually bite you back, but he doesn't really use his teeth. He's more of the type to "nom" your cheek and not actually hurt you. Unless he's feeling a bit more playful, that is.

That doesn't mean it doesn't shock him a bit at first. Then, he's reminded of his younger siblings. It's not uncommon for them to bite at those around him, though it's debatable as to whether or not that really counts as "affection".

With you, though, he can definitely see how it's affectionate, and he's 104% ready to give you it right back. You better be ready!

Ultimately, Childe lets you do it. Sometimes he reaches over to ruffle your hair after, and other times he just laughs loudly. You never cease to amaze him! The way he smiles at you is so fond. You make his heart sing, comrade, and he enjoys these silly little loving moments with you.

When the two of you are just relaxing and you take it upon yourself to do something like nibble lovingly on his arm, he'll often grab you tightly around the middle, ready to return your affection tenfold. You can't escape a Fatui Harbinger, silly!

Childe's a pretty affectionate guy himself. When the two of you are out together, he often has an arm slung around you in some way, shape, or form. He likes being close to you and tends to be a more touchy lover. Whether it be greeting you with hugs or pulling you along by your arm, physical affection is definitely one of his fortes.

He definitely is reminded of a small cat when you bite him. And he'll make sure you know it too. Often with that annoyingly charming little grin he has.

His laugh is infectious, and you often end up chuckling with him. He can't help it, he laughs a lot when happy. And you make him happy! Especially when you're so cute!

Another one who's happy to return the favor. Venti giggles softly the first time, asking you what that was.

He too has been around for a while and has never really seen people give bites as a way to show love before. Regardless, he's not as confused as Old Man Zhongli and gets with it pretty quickly.

He sometimes giggles, claiming your little bites tickle. He often says it's no fair for him to be the only one tickled, glancing at you with a coy smile before lunging forward to try to tickle your sensitive spots. Come on, it's only fair, you know!

He, along with Childe, is one of the most likely to do it in public, much to everyone else's chagrin. Sometimes the two of you are sitting together and he'll lean over and nip at your cheek lightly, laughing slightly all the while.

It's not unusual for Diluc to sternly tell you to cut it out before he kicks you both out.

Venti returns your bites a lot more after he's had something to drink. He didn't even have to have alcohol, drinking anything in general just puts him in a much better mood. When he is tipsy, though, he's already super affectionate. You better watch out.

Sometimes when you bite him, he'll jokingly pretend to sneeze. At first you didn't really get it. Until you eventually realized he was teasing you by acting like you were one of the several cats around Mondstadt. You swatted at him lightly for that one, and he ducked away giggling.

To be honest, he's grateful to know how you show your affection. Despite how he acts, he's not really used to the idea of really, genuinely loving someone. Your affectionate reactions are a good gauge to him that he's doing something right.

Overall, he's one of the first to get on board with your cute little bites. He loves them and he loves you! Just beware... sometimes he sneaks up and bites you unprompted before running and ducking away.
