The Amazing Digital Circus x Alice in Wonderland au !! Part 1 - Refs
Have a crossover of mine I cooked up with the help of @kattanimates :3
Here’s the reference of Pomni and Ragatha !!
───── ⋆⋅✦⋅⋆ ─────
Credits -
This au was made by me :3
The Amazing Digital Circus belongs to - Glitch
───── ⋆⋅✦⋅⋆ ─────
Story lore part 1TM -
Here, the universe Pomni lends in truly is a mix of her original universe and Alice’s.
Basically, it has the same layout as Digital Circus’s, as in its a world hypothetical humans get trapped in, but ! It’s Alice in Wonderland inspired inside the game and as such the twos universe morals merges.
I’ll probably end up doing a plan of how the digi-land look !!
All the cast of TADC is here, but since Alice has much more characters, the story will adapt differently.
One interesting thing about this au is that, you get a ‘role’ when you enter this world, based on your basic personality traits, and how you’ll react to being stuck there. Usually there’s so many empty roles we end up finding a match for the newcomers, but !
Sometimes you end up having the same role as someone else ; I call it multiplaying. Which is what happened to Pomni n Ragatha !
Info -
• Pomni
- Very visibly not okayTM
- Eyes turns into clean spirals when confused !
- Her bells rings everytime she runs..
- saw her face in a pond’s reflection instead of a mirror ! :0
- Unlike in the og TADC where you choose your name, here you have to type it as you enter the world ! You can also randomize it, which.. is what happened to Pomni.
• Ragatha
- Optimistic101 + Subtle Stockholm Syndrome
- Is the self proclaimed one who introduce newcomers and can easily guide around Pomni since. You know.. same role.
- Favourite food to look at is tea.
- Cards stitched in her left eye.. who knows why ?
- Tries to stay positive, and is actually almost doing it !!
- Dollface 🎎

*shyly waves* H-hello 👋
My name is Shy-Nightmare, and I just wanted to start the day by saying hello and to say nice things about you. I'm a huge fan of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the Toon Patrol like you, and I also love your content! 💖 You, Marinerainbow, and Slashingdisneypasta inspired me to come out of my comfort zone and share my own content this August of 2024, and I would like to take a moment to say thank you 😊.
Your stories, your OCs, and you yourself are wonderful, amazing, and inspirational ❤. I understand you're probably very busy right now, so it's absolutely OK if this silly rambling of mine doesn't pop up in your inbox right away 🤣
I hope you have a lovely day! Or evening, if it's nighttime for you 🌃
OK, bye 👋 *shyly hides in the darkness again*
//What a lovely message 🥹🥰☺️ Thank you so much for the kind words! Who Franed Roger Rabbit has been one of my favourite films for years now and I am always happy to discuss this technological and creative masterpiece of a multi crossover with an original story (which sadly, apart from Wreck it Ralph, I haven't seen replicated since) I am so happy I contributed to helping you raise your voice to say hello, it means so much to me 🥺 I am pleased that you love Kitty and her cartoony exploits and adventure in this strange, magical world with these funny, sometimes unhinged but completely sincere characters.
Your rambling is not silly, its what every fanfic author dreams of 🥰 love and hugs!

The Bear's legacy
The series finale has already been announced
I still think Sydcarmy will be endgame, of course. But most importantly, I also think that all Carmy said in this scene in regards to HIS LEGACY (because that's what he was talking about, not just legacy in general but his own based on what he learned from the legends that taught him well) is the clearest foreshadowing of what Storer has in mind to wrap The Bear up.
I say all of this now because I believe S4 will be the last one and after this S3 we were just served my mind keeps wandering to: HOW CAN WE GET OUT OF HERE?!?! HOW WILL STORER GET US OUT OF THIS. HOW WILL HE CLOSE THE OPEN LOOP HE LEFT US STUCK AT IN THE SEASON FINALE:
I already went over my idea of how the endgame for the entire series may look like here, before watching S3. But that was just an assumption (yet fully compatible with what I will elaborate on below).
These previous posts of mine, also tap into The Family tree concept and I suggest you check them out for context as well:
The tree
Found Family
What I think will happen in whatever way Storer wants to go about it is that even though The Bear, the restaurant will not go under, at least not as a result of this bad review:
Eventually, it might close its doors like Ever did (after getting 1 or more stars for Sydney), so Carmy can live and escape the prison of his own design that Richie mentioned:
Now, I'm prepared to make a formal prediction based on the script presented in ep 03x07 → Legacy, which I cross-referenced with LWTH.
And the parallelisms, which would take a way longer post than what I have time to make right now, all point in this direction:
The team will spread around the world/country to open their own restaurants/bakeries, etc. - This happens either in the post The Bear era or even if The Bear remains open.
Or in other words, like Storer Carmy said:
This will be the case for each member of the family:
And because the show is about "found family", they still find a way to remain together, even if at some point they go their separate ways to carry on with The Bear's legacy elsewhere as Carmy foreshadowed and just like Carmy carried on with Michael's at some point, which was the kickstart of the whole series.
Thus, it will be a full circle.
IMO, and this is unrelated to the book, The Bear will close its door eventually or change its name and Sydney will open her dream spot, maybe where The Bear once was or elsewhere. Carmy will change careers and will crossover into other arts, such as painting. Let's not forget that he's already an artist of the culinary arts, so it will not be too much of a stretch. He seemed to have found his peace once in Copenhagen doing this and he keeps coming back to it, even now, as he hits rock bottom, he keeps turning to this type of art to try and cope:
He never seems to drift too far away from it.
I think this is where he's headed post The Bear. Back to his solace (which will include Syd too).
And this is what comes to mind → an Austenian happy ending for the entire family that was foreshadowed in 03x07 "Legacy".
The ending will be all about carrying on with Carmy's legacy or better yet, "Sydcarmy's Legacy", one way or the other. Kinda like this fic narrates here.
And I can't wait.
Bonus track: I hope they leave the door open to continue telling this story on the big screen, which if you didn't cheat and carefully read the Found Family context post I linked at the beginning, you now know was Storer's original idea for The Bear. This, unlike all I mentioned above, is indeed a stretch. But... a girl can dream.

*These are not official groupings, just mine.
EARLY (1987-1993)
Mainline games released: I, II, III, IV, V.
Other notable releases: the Legend series, Mystic Quest
Established the formula & series mainstays--job classes, summons, chocobos & moogles, etc.
These games were relatively simple at first, but soon became trailblazers for epic storytelling in RPGs--especially IV (or initially II in North America).
Pixel guys.
Mostly known by their many (many, many) remasters and remakes.
Modern audiences might find their stories rote and their gameplay unnecessarily difficult, but they still enjoy a tiny, vocal fanbase.
GOLDEN (1994-2001)
Mainline games released: VI**, VII, VIII, IX, X.
Other notable releases: Tactics, Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, Anthology, Chronicles
With the formula established & with the more powerful hardware of fifth- (and later sixth-) generation consoles, FF pushed boundaries and graphical limitations to produce their most ambitious games (and marketing campaigns) yet. You might say they succeeded, for better or worse; Final Fantasy VII is generally considered to be the very first AAA video game.
The era that the majority of the FF fanbase on the Internet is most nostalgic for, a fact that might inspire either your own misty-eyed recollection of the good ol' days, or an overwhelming desire to snap the rose-tinted glasses. Or both.
Saw the first of many (many, many) ports across different systems--in part to give English-speaking audiences access to the early games they missed, but also as blatant cash-grabs.
Modern audiences who have no nostalgia for this era often voice that they find stylized 3D polygons much more difficult to acclimate to than the pixel guys.
**FFVI could arguably fall under the early era. If I'd made this poll fifteen years ago, when the division of fans between VI and VII was much more stark, that's where I would have put it. However, this poll is also about how modern audiences tend to think about their favorite FF games, and FFVI enjoys a nostalgic fanbase on par with those of the other games of the golden era. Search for it on any "best FF games of all time" list and you'll see what I mean.
COMPILATION (2002-2008)
Mainline games released: XI, XII.
Other notable releases: Crystal Chronicles, X-2, Compilation of FFVII (Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, etc.), FFXII: Revenant Wings, the Tactics Advance series & the War of the Lions remake of the original Tactics, the DS remakes of III & IV, the first Dissidia. (Also of note, though not directly beneath the FF umbrella, was the introduction of Kingdom Hearts.)
The era of sequels, remakes, remasters, crossovers, and extended universes, shepherded by the Square Enix merger. Only two mainline games were released in this period, and the one that was not an MMO was an entry in the newly-formed "Ivalice Alliance" (contrary to the desires of one of XII's principal developers, Yasumi Matsuno, who left the project before it was finished).
While of course we've seen plenty of sequels & remakes since, this era went all-in on expanding Final Fantasy to the behemoth it is now. FFVII, its golden child, was showered with prequels and sequels. Crossovers were all the rage. Even games that were not strictly "Final Fantasy" games were retroactively roped into one of the existing canon masses, i.e. Vagrant Story into the Ivalice Alliance.
This was also the boom of handhelds, like the PSP and the beloved DS. Mainline games were saved for the heavyweight home consoles, while other titles were dispersed across the smaller systems.
Very few "new" worlds with no preexisting ties to the other games (outside of the shared banner of Final Fantasy) were created in this time, XI and Crystal Chronicles being the few exceptions.
If you enjoyed seeing the games you loved from the 90s getting more content, this era was a delight. If you'd rather the original entries were left alone, it was a painful sign of things to come.
EXPERIMENTAL (2009-2015)
Mainline games released: XIII, XIV (twice)
Other notable releases: XIII-2 & Lightning Returns, Type-0 (also a member of XIII's Fabula Nova Crystallis series), Dissidia 012, the Theatrhythm series, the first expansion for XIV (Heavensward), Record Keeper, Brave Exvius
FF's darkest era. XIII was the first time FF tried something new since XI--brand new world, female protagonist, fresh spin on the old ATB formula--and it fell just short of catastrophic. XIII and its sequels were not well-received (though whether this negative backlash was "deserved" is another story). The game that would later become XV was originally intended to be Versus XIII, an entry in Fabula Nova Crystallis. Between XIII's poor reception and Versus XIII's fraught development, this didn't happen.
The initial release of XIV, on the other hand, was catastrophic. It was so bad that the entire thing had to be rebooted.
The good news is XIV's reboot, A Realm Reborn, did so well that XIV is widely considered one of the best MMOs of all time. The reboot is also one of the earliest examples of video game "rehabilitation," in that a dramatic change or update to the original game transforms a negative experience into a positive one, and thus scrapes back the good will of the player. (No Man's Sky is a non-FF example.)
The virulent criticism of XIII has softened over the years, and it enjoys a small, dedicated fanbase.
You started to see FF dip into mobile games at this point, too.
MODERN (2016-2023)
Mainline games released: XV, XVI
Other notable releases: World of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Dissidia NT, Dissidia Opera Omnia, Final Fantasy VII Remake, the pixel remasters of I-VI, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Reunion, Crisis Core: Reunion, a slew of expansions for XIV
The long-anticipated release of XV heralded a new age (as well as a movie and an anime). In contrast to XIII, XV was very popular, and put FF back on the map. People loved the boys' road trip.
XIV is still going strong. I don't play MMOs but I'm happy for them.
The remakes & remasters are back, and looking more realistic than ever (if you're into that sort of thing). Look at how many individual pores you can see on your old favorites' faces! The most successful of these is the Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is not a remake as much as it's a conversation with the original game, a move that both drew in a new audience and softened (some of) the diehard og-VII fans who disliked the rest of the Compilation.
Stranger of Paradise is an odd duck attempting to evoke the uncanny valley weirdness of the PS3 era. YMMV on if it worked.
The modern FF games step further out of the boundaries of what an FF game is, dropping ATB combat in favor of real-time action that's all the rage these days. In a first, XVI doesn't have any party members. For the folks who've grown tired of ATB and crave the fast-paced action of the modern day, XVI was a hit (though, I've heard, it failed to deliver on the story).
The endless conversation about whether FF ought to be evolving this far outside of its "formula" (whatever one believes that to be) might feel tired to the average FF fan. But, going forward, it's worth talking about the ways in which FF has neglected to evolve, or even gone backwards: such as the dev team of XV stating that the inclusion of women would cause their core bros to act unnaturally, thus why there are no female party members in the game, or the dev team of XVI deliberately not including a diverse cast because their fantasy game is inspired by medieval Europe.
Tell me which era you voted for in the tags, and what your personal favorite FF game is!

Welcome, all!
I’m Meagan, aka Winged, and I’ve been kicking around the Narnia fandom since 2008! In addition to writing for random other fandoms over the years, I’ve recently fallen deep into Danny Phantom. So I figured this was a great time to make a little intro masterlist of the sort of stories you can find over on my AO3!
Narnia 🦁
I…have written so much Narnia, y’all. I won’t link absolutely everything but will highlight series and and personal favs:
In Some Darker Age: a collection of mostly unconnected dark AUs spanning the entirety of the series. Including Susan as Jadis, and witchy!Jill.
📖 What the Thunder Said: Lucy and Edmund spend 5 years in Narnia as the Witch's wards.
📖 however deep the magic lies: Susan becomes Jadis.
📖 by the blood of the stars: Witchy Jill is the Lady of the Green Kirtle’s apprentice.
📖 to perish in fire and water: a sort-of sequel to Witchy Jill, also featuring Susan!Jadis and the end of the world.
In a Lighter Age: parodies, crackfic, and other absurd Narnia AUs. Featuring my very favourite: BTS in Narnia.
📖 Roll for Initiative: D&D AU of the Prince Caspian movie
📖 if one could drive forever: crossover of Last Battle and that infamous Supernatural finale
📖 Beyond Typical Sightseeing: Members of BTS keep falling into Narnia
Multi-Chapter Stories:
📖 Against All the Powers Ranged: Edmund time-travels through Charn and meets Jadis’ sister again and again
📖 The Splendour of the Stars: Peridan/Edmund during the Golden Age, with bonus Aravis
One-Shots:
📖 Garbed in Feathers or Scales: Susan visits the island of the Sirens.
📖 Witching Season: Jadis seduces the last pre-Winter king of Narnia
📖 White Lilies: an asexual queen of Narnia finds her heir
📖 Tidings from Beaversdam: Caspian/Edmund post VDT ruling Narnia together
[See all Narnia fic]
Danny Phantom 👻
📖 Ghost Town: Valerie investigates Amity Park nine years after all its citizens disappeared (Invisobang 2022)
📖 Brother Mine: Jazz returns to Amity Park to reconnect with feral Danny
📖 Something in the Shadows: Jazz's college roommate learns about ghosts (companion to Brother Mine)
📖 Cool Tones: Paulina Phantom AU (Reality Trip zine)
📖 Half Rage: Danny has Lazarus Pit Madness (DC-Fusion)
📖 Something Rotten: Hamlet AU with bonus Ghost King AU (Invisobang 2023)

Among Us
📖 Oh Blue, If Only You Knew: Time Travel fic
Everything Everywhere All At Once
📖 Knife Skills: Chad and Raccacoonie origin story
Lockwood & Co
📖 Locked: Norrie experiences Ghost Lock

@arcvmonth Day 18: Different Dimension Day
Look, I'm a sucker for AUs, especially when it comes to Arc-V so I've got plenty of aus revolving around this silly show, but I'm going to show a few favorite of mine
Side Note: Sorry for the horrid spelling and grammars, english is not my first language and for the most part, the cringey ass AUs I have in mind and I am 100% not a writer, just me sharing some AUs :) but I appreciate it if someone made fanart or fanfic abt :')
Two Worlds Apart AU
Premise: When a group of researchers receives a mission from their (now deceased) commander, they nestled their based in a planet full of wonders and mysteries, meeting new faces, teaching them the way of their people as they try and attempt to find figments of their past and live together with the locals.
Basically Magical Fantasy (Arc-V crew bcus all aus that surrounds this series has been magical fantasy) meets Sci-Fi (aka crossover with my original story, A Prismarine Story), or at least how I interperet it
Theres going to be cosmic horror thats lurking in the background and basically the reason why the APS group are satelliting the planet the Arc-V group are living in
The Cards Has Bodies In Them
Premise: A mysterious deck has recently been re-surfaced and was brought in by the local city museum in Maiami City with legends surrounding it as the "Flesh Deck", with how brutal its effect damage is to its opponents. Despite being heavily contained in a vault before its initial public debut, a thief manages to steal such treasure to use it in the Arc League Championship, but such a shameless act would cause the thief his own life and body.
Yuya had recently recovered from all of the Zarc Stuff, or that's what his best friends called it, and is adjusting to a new life back in Maiami City. Before things took a more sinister turn as he discovers an old yet dangerous deck.
Inspired by Vita Carnis and Jonh Carpenter's The Thing cus it fits the fleshy-theme here :)
The first idea that has popped up to my head was, "What if there's a deck that inflict effect damage but instead of using magic nor tech from the monsters, it inflict alien-thing-like damage? Like it actually sucks out your flesh and turns you into a monster card?" I call them the "Rhen-Dharmas" (couldnt think of a better name lmao)
The thief in question is NOT Yuri, Leo, Roget, or the Doktor, it is someone new
And the last thing was it should be presented in an analog horror style
The Curse That Will Never Be Unfold
Premise: A young boy from a small village was cursed by the God of Destruction himself after failing to bring joy to the audience, who thirst for brutal and violent acts. Because of this, in times of desperation, the boy will transform into a hideous beast capable of ending a human's life away with little control whatsoever. With little time left before he'll forever live with it, the boy must find the God of Destruction's sister in order for his curse to be gone, or should he?
Inspired by @1apple-fox1's Rage and Regret AU
Another crossover AU of APS and Arc-V (cus the main character of APS, Coralline, is inspired by Yuya and Zarc's design and powers lol)
Demon!Yuya centric, there's going to be moments of Yuzu going ballistic over her (definitely not/j) boyfriend cus people want to kill him for being a demon with no reasons or second thoughts, and forest spirit (Spoiler Alert! OC name drop?) Maria being a menace
It is all Hurt/Comfort here and there

Since I’ve asked about challenges recently, I wanted take a minute to talk about my favorite challenges that I follow. (Though I confess I have yet to participate even though I’ve followed them for years. Someday, damnit.)
These are all multi fandom events that are free for everyone to follow and participate. I highly recommend them.
First up: Evil Author Day
EAD is an annual event that occurs every February 15. It’s where authors post any of their Works In Progress for people to get a peak at and enjoy. Here’s the evil part - there are no promises attached to these snippets. The author may never get back to it. There may never be more than what you see or they may finish it next week. It’s read at your own risk. Seriously.
Jilly James maintains a masterlist of EAD participants that can be found here:
This goes back to 2015 and it’s still going strong. I encourage anyone who wants to participate. I’m thinking of doing so myself this year. When the time comes, you can drop a link to Jilly and she will add you to the masterlist.
Next: Quantum Bang
Quantum Bang is a Big Bang Writing Event and the theme is fix-it fics. It’s been going for a few years now and I love it. It’s too late for anyone else to participate this year but posting begins in June for anyone who wants to see this years offers. They also maintain an archive of previous years if you want to check it out. There are some absolutely amazing fics there and I highly recommend it.
You can find the website and archive here:
You can sort the archive by years, fandom, genre, author and artist. Very convenient.
Next: Rough Trade
Rough Trade is a multi fandom theme challenge. There are three challenges a year in April, July, and November. It’s technically two themes at a time and you can do one or the other or both. Whatever you want. The challenges for 2023 will be as follows:
April: Crossover / Found Family
July: The Sentinel / Natural Disaster
November: Magical World / Second Chances
You can check it out here:
You have to become a member to dig deeper into the site but anyone can sign up and subscribe.
Last: The Big Moxie
The Big Moxie is another multi fandom themed challenge but I think its a little more flexible than Rough Trade. Here are the Rules:
1. Minimum 5,000 words count (no maximum)
2. Any fandom (no RPF)
3. No limit on the number of stories
4. Only unpublished works qualify
The Big Moxie is a quarterly challenge. It’s too late to sign up for the first quarter this year but here they are:
Q1 - Inexplicable Babies
Q2 - Fusion/Crossover
Q3 - Friends to Lovers
Q4 - Time Travel
You can also find the To Every Season Challenge on this site. It’s a seasonal theme challenge that I’m sure a lot of people would enjoy.
Original Winter – January – March
Theme: Original Characters
Alternative Spring – April – June
Theme: Gender and Sexuality expressions outside of the binary
Sapphic Summer – July – September
Theme: Femslash pairing (Yes, it can be platonic)
Vibrant Autumn – October – December
Theme: Characters of color
You can find the site here:
I hope everyone enjoys all of these as much as I have. And I encourage anyone who wants to participate. It’s open to everyone and the fandoms and fics I’ve seen have been diverse and amazing. Go check it out.

Shameless Fanfic Plug
So I write fanfiction in my free time, and I've talked a bit about my Genshin crossover fics, mainly A Link to Eternity and What a Real Heart Feels Like. But today I want to bring up my main fanfic, and the one that got me into writing. I've scrapped and discontinued the original version of the fic and I'm working on a rewrite currently. (The rest of this is under the cut if you don't want to bother reading this, just for the sake of not taking up all the space in someone's scrolling feed).
The title is More Than Just a Shield Re:Written.
The "Re:Written" is for the new version that I'm writing, since the old version fucking sucked (in my defense I was new to fanfic writing at the time).
Basically, the premise is that it's centered around an OC (original character) of mine - Aris Atreides. He and his twin sister, Loretta, are descendants of Hyrule's royal family, as well as the last of their kind after the Yiga Clan launched an unexpected, kingdom-wide attack that wiped out all of Hyrule's people except the Atreides twins. The twins traveled Hyrule in search of survivors, and along the way some stuff happened. Aris lost his arm and Loretta used her Sheikah know-how to build him a prosthesis which is powered by Aris's very soul (in the form of "Soul Energy" based on the green ghost hand thing in Tears of the Kingdom), they found the Master Sword and Aris discovered he was its chosen Hero, and they discovered gateways to other worlds. They separated and traveled from world to world on their own personal journeys, thwarting evil whenever they encountered it (all of this is set a few millennia after the events of Breath of the Wild, and since I came up with this whole thing before Tears of the Kingdom was as big as it is, for all intents and purposes it's in an alternate timeline during which TotK never happened).
One such adventure leads Aris to the kingdom of Melromarc, and throws him into the events of The Rising of the Shield Hero. He's summoned as the "Shield Hero" (replacing Naofumi Iwatani) though he can still use the Master Sword. Similar stuff happens to the show, he befriends Myne/Malty/Bitch, is betrayed and left with basically nothing but his clothes and sword, you know the drill. Then he finds a Demi-Human slave girl running from her master, a slave trader, who sends a small domesticated dragon after her. Aris saves the runaway slave and takes her to safety. The slave girl is, of course, Raphtalia, who's 17 in the fanfic for...reasons that'll come up later down the line.
That's all the story I'm gonna share here, but the other premise is that other characters appear and join Aris's party. He reunited with Loretta, hatches Filo like Naofumi did in the anime/light novel, and characters from other fandoms join his party later, too. One particularly influential fandom in the story is Kingdom Hearts.
But yeah, sorry for my rambling, that's my main fic. Read it if you wanna. Here's a cover I made for the Fanfiction.net version:
I would have commissioned some art of Aris or something, but I decided to do the easy thing and take pngs of stuff and put them together in Google Slides. There's elements from almost every fandom in the crossover: the Ouroboros from the logo of Tears of the Kingdom (Zelda), the other 3 Legendary Weapons (Shield Hero), the planet from the Smash Bros. logo of Earthbound (Earthbound/Mother 2), the planet/meteor looking thing from the logo of Final Fantasy VII (Final Fantasy VII), Sora's Keyblade (Kingdom Hearts), and Joker's mask (Persona 5). As another Kingdom Hearts reference, I kinda tried to arrange the TotK Ouroboros with the Earthbound and FFVII planets to look like Mickey Mouse. The background is also from Tears of the Kingdom.

🍓🥤🔪🦴🧩
🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?
It's hard to tell what counts as original and what counts as fanfic when you are a child, but your best attempts at originality are often so closely based on your favourite stories they're pretty much ripoffs. I suppose I wrote lots of disguised fanfic as a kid, in a sense, or at least lots of stories suspiciously heavily inspired by other things. But I had a horror of being thought derivative, so I always filed the serial numbers off. Not that anyone read them except my family and occasional friends. And while I did grow up with internet access, this was definitely before it would have occurred to me to see out fic online and certainly not to post my own - so I was printing these things out and binding them with spiral bindings and drawing cover illustrations for them. In college and later i occasionally read fanfiction (mostly LOTR and Doctor Who), but it didn't really occur to me to write it. I got into writing fanfiction in the way that I do by finishing KQ, needing more because I cried when Graham died, and discovering all of you guys' fics. Maybe it's because it was lockdowns, and I was so lonely and in need of something fresh, but I had the double thought, "I could do that!" and "I wonder if I could infiltrate this circle..."
🥤Recommend an author or fanfic you love
OK, I am going to go out on a limb here and recommend a Doctor Who/Star Trek fic I adored years ago when it used to be on ff.net. I went searching, found it was more recently posted to ao3, and rejoiced that it survives! I ordinarily can't stand crossovers, and I had a limited amount of Trek knowledge at the time, but this one was special. It appears to be a simple "What if" at first, but I remember it getting more complex as it went on. Now, this may not overlap with any of your interests, and I haven't read it in years and may simply be remembering it through a rosy haze, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway.
It's "A Captain and a Madman", a longfic adventure where the Eleventh Doctor finds himself on a strange voyage. Here's the official summary:
When a strange, blue box appears in the middle of Federation territory, motionless and without power, it's up to the crew of the Enterprise D to determine just who its strange occupant is… and if he is friend or foe. Even as that very madman wonders just what kind of reality he's found himself in…
I may have to give this a reread, hopefully to thoroughly enjoy it (or cringe if I find it was all just nostalgia!)
🔪What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Oh, I don't know! Here are a few random things I have researched in my time. I don't know that any of them are necessarily weird, but they're varied and might surprise you if you've only read my fanfiction.
Napoleon's childhood (for a book that took place in another world that made no reference to Napoleon.)
What your mouth tastes like after chloroform
Chinese canal systems
Chinese treasure ships
Phosphorescent special effects before the invention of electricity
🦴 Is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
Answered this one previously, but let's find a new way to answer it. Well, let me tell you something. I am not immune to the "writer hard at work" scene in media. If I see Jo March laying out her entire novel, page by page, on the floor of her attic so she can rearrange the structure by hand, while a determined soundtrack plays, well, I will work on my writing. If I happen across that beloved childhood picture book of mine, How a Book is Made by Aliki, well, I will work on my writing. If it portrays a writer actually in the act of creating, and it's not too sentimental or in awe of them, well, I will work on my writing.
🧩 What will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
I mean, I don't read a lot of fic in general outside our little community but when I do venture out of it, here are some personal boundaries: I don't do smut. I don't do fics where the point is just suffering without hope or a redemptive aspect. I don't do body-shaming. I don't do fics that are written in a way that make it difficult to read at the simple level (outstanding spelling or formatting issues.) I don't do reader x _____ or y/n.

First things first: the origins.
On the original version of my first fanfic I ever made, and why I decided to redo it 8 years later. So. Context. Pokemon Opal and Garnet (2016) is the first fanfiction I ever made. It's technically a crossover fanregion fic set in a region created by me with Pokemon created by me, but I use "crossover" extremely, extremely lightly. Technically, it was entirely new, but 5 of the main mons were named after (and of those 5, 4 were based in part on) characters from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, which is my all-time favorite Disney movie if not my favorite movie period. Given that it was my first ever fanfic, it is a mess. It is rough around the edges, and by god it shows. Among the many things in the first fanfic I ever wrote: HOND references like crazy, blatant Element of Harmony expies in the form of the 14 virtues (more on them later), a blatant Trump allegory, my first time writing a court scene, and a French anthem performance straight out of Casablanca. This was back in the Cringe Old Days (TM) of 2016 when the word "subtlety" was not in my writing vocabulary, when I did not know what "character arcs and development" were, and when I genuinely believed that fanfic sites would automatically send their copyright bots out to companies so that they could sue you out of your minds if you dared put non-public-domain song lyrics into your fic. After a while I stopped updating the fic out of boredom, writer's block, and distraction due to a bunch of other things entering my brain (oh hi, something called the "Dutch language"! Oh hi, fanmade musicals!). But the original fic still exists today and can be found. I plan to one day delete my fanfic.net account, though, and with it all the original stories, but you needn't worry-- the original Opal and Garnet can still be found on Lake Valor; all 20 chapters of it. After that, life went by. I joined We Are All Pokemon Trainers, where I met people who are numerous friends of mine, and, more importantly, learned how to actually create character arcs, developments, lore, and backstories. It was an incredible experience for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. I went to college and graduated; I had an extremely long period of health anxiety... and in my last year of college, in 2024, I decided to look over my first ever fanfic and figure out what worked and what didn't. Two things from the fanfic-- the PokeLatin language and Orwell the Newspeak-speaking Crawdaunt-- made their way into WAAPT, albeit the PokeLatin language became the Poipolian dialect of UBese and had tons of tweaks done to it. This was also the year after the Disney company celebrated their 100th anniversary. And given that, the fact that many HOND references were made in the original fic, and the fact that TV Tropes erroneously labeled it a crossover because of those references, I ended up deciding "screw it, I am leaning into the Disney angle and I am leaning into it hard". Cue the creation of the Gisnep company (I'm not kidding, that's actually what it's called) and by extension, the Gisnepverse, which consists of Opal and Garnet (2024) and the WAAPT continuums. (I retired from WAAPT and branched each of my characters off into their own seperate stories.) The next post I make will delve into the lore surrounding the Gisnep company and its differences from its real-world analogue.

OKAY SO PXS INFO DUMP
Canon!
The crossover takes place at like the furthest point in the timelines thus far; pretty much Everything is Canon save for prior crossovers like CN:PTE and S&SASR (so no MultiVersus sadly, even tho the Girls have already leaked LOL)
PPG:DP and 2016 are "Soft Canon"; they happened, but like in a "broad strokes" sense; the Girls never met Donny or Allegro from PPG 2016 for example, and the Professor doesn't have that stupid origin story from DP LMAO
Sonic 4 never happened 'cuz we didn't get a third episode; that's like one of the only non-crossover things to be non-canon to PXS
Main story
The Chaos Emeralds have been found in Townsville, and pretty much all of the villains are after them (the important ones, at least); the very beginning is more or less 1-to-1 The PPGs Rule in the sense that the Emeralds are these big, powerful shiny things that, if you have them all, can let you rule the entire world
Eggman ofc hears about the Emeralds landing in Townsville and decides that none of the Townsvillains are worthy of handling the Emeralds, going ham on them all and basically saying "back off, these are mine"—that's when the Girls spring into action
In terms of fighting Eggman, tho, the Girls are out of their depth since Eggman is much more dangerous and crafty and can easily counter every attack they throw at him (what with his 300 IQ and all), and that's when Sonic shows up and he's like "yo, Egghead" and he just toys with him XD
As Sonic is helping the Girls fight Eggman, most of the Townsvillains get away with the one Emerald they managed to steal, save for Mojo who gets the blue Emerald yanked out of his monkey paws, first by Eggman and Metal, then by Sonic and the Girls (who end up running away with the Emerald in the end)
Both frustrated with their failures, Mojo and Eggman realize that they have a common goal in mind and form a (mostly uneasy) truce, something that Eggman's daughter Sage has reservations about; this is the point where the crossover starts to become more of its own thing and less of a PPGs Rule retread
From here, the crossover is a race against the clock to get the rest of the Emeralds back from Eggman, Mojo, and the Townsvillains before Townsville is completely devastated by the Emeralds' immense, infinite power, with characters gradually dropping in to join the fun :3
I have more in mind that I've put up onto a Google Doc, but bleeehhhhh just writing this out was tiring enough ^^;
Hope you enjoyed all my ramblings XD
tfw you have two different hyperfixations going on at the same time and it's your own fault

Unwritten fic update: ATLA + Godzilla: “The Ancient World”
So I've been looking over unwritten fanfic I shelved, and one I often revisit is called The Ancient World, which is the result of me wanting to do a crossover adapting Godzilla and other monsters into the world of ATLA and LOK.
I wrote an older post on The Ancient World back in December, but since then I often revisited the story. Even wrote a draft for the first chapter. The original post is here.
I also had Korra based sequel, Age of Rebirth, which evolved into a crossover with the Star Wars sequel trilogy. I wrote a post for it, but I'm giving it a rewrite since the original post was over 8000 words.
It's not even the only Godzilla crossover I had in mind; I wrote ideas down for one with The 100, and another for Game of Thrones. Both of which The Ancient World took cues from.
Anyways, since I've been doing some revising and revisiting of The Ancient World, I thought I'd give it a follow up post based on these revisions. Much of the story and character arcs remain the same, but here it's expanded by more worldbuilding, character arcs, and a few OC's I had in mind.
----
Summary: Taking place a few years after Avatar The Last Airbender. The United Republic began international mining operations in the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes, as society progresses with early technological advancements. When they dug too deep, they uncovered the remains of an ancient civilization lost to time, and regarded as myth. When dug deeper, they awaken Titans - beasts of these myths, that brought “The Ancient World” to an end, and may do the same to the current one.
One such the Titan known as “Godzilla” decimates the Water Tribes and makes his way to and through the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdoms. Another is a weakened and wounded dragon fleeing the wrath of Godzilla. Quickly showing its own spiritual power, communicating with humanity, introducing itself as Ghidorah, a claiming to be "guardian" sent to protect the world from Godzilla. Too weak to do much of anything (save for destroying a vast cabbage field), Ghidorah is seen as harmless by the general populations, who rally behind him as the only one who can stop Godzilla.
The leaders of the Water, Fire and Earth Kingdoms elect to throw their armies to face Godzilla until such a time Ghidorah’s power is restored. While Aang, his Team and a small band of Kyoshi warriors, seek out the secrets of these monsters and try to find the way to put a stop to them with as little bloodshed as possible, Zuko is pushed by the other leaders, prioritizing the threat of Godzilla and a militant approach to deal with them. During an initial encounter with Azula and her followers out at sea, Godzilla attacks the expedition, getting them stranded on "The Uncharted Lands".
Between Ghidorah’s growing power, and the hero’s isolation, people on both sides find themselves going down the rabbit hole, learning of the Ancient World, and the monsters that brought it to an end in a bid to save their current one.
----
First off, let’s get this story’s main ships out of the way; Kataang, Maiko and Tyzula.
Out of the Godzilla timelines, it's mainly based off the Monsterverse, but there's nods to other and continuities.
1. "What is the Ancient World and what is the lore behind it ?"
If you haven’t guessed by the title, the twist would have been the titular “Ancient World” was our Earth. That and the recovery and reverse engineering of old technology explains the advancements seen in Legend of Korra. The “Ancient World” fell to an apocalyptic event known as “The Final Wars”, which would would have occurred a century or two before Wan’s time as civilization collapsed, and excessive radiation and mutation caused the animal hybrids.
The ATLA world would be revealed as the result of ten thousand years of rapid climate and geographic change, with the age of science giving way to the age of mysticism; some Titans show a supernatural and spiritual aspect to them, such as Mothra and Ghidorah. The Lion Turtles would be an example of such Titans. Mothra for example, would have the ability to enhance one's power.
What is currently known as “The Water Tribes” was once Alaska, and Northern Canada. “The Fire Nation”, was once Eastern Asia and Eastern Europe. “The Earth Kingdom”, was once South Asia.
The "Uncharted Lands" refer to any country/continent/region unexplored on ATLA/LOK’s map. For example, the lands explored in this story were once the province of Ontario and New York state.
The Water Tribes were once Alaska, Greenland, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, and the North-West Territories.
The Fire Kingdom was once Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, North China, Far East Russia, South and Central Russia, and the Ukraine.
The Earth Kingdoms consist of India, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan, South China, Tibet, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.
As people and civilizations of these lands ? Think the Grounder's from The 100, or the tribes in Horizon Zero Dawn, and you’ll know what I'm going for. This is something carried over from Welcome to The New Age, when I wanted to crossover with The 100. They have a Clan system similar to The 100, and one of the OC's is called "The Commander", who is Lexa in all but name.
Despite mysticism and spirituality seeping back into the world after "The Final Wars", these people live more mundane and down to Earth lives. Bending isn't prominent among these people. They know of Bending, but they generally lack it themselves, usually reacting with curiosity and wonder when they see it.
While the Ancient World’s are more obscure "myths" to the Three Known Nations, they're a lot less murky to the Uncharted Lands and their people; in fact they still find bits and pieces of "old world technology", which they try to recreate. As such, they have more knowledge of the Ancient World, and a more objective version of the Final Wars in their mythology. To the Three Nations, "Final Wars" myths vary; to the Uncharted Lands, there are a few variations but the constant was Godzilla was usually the "hero", while Ghidorah was always the villain.
As for this stories OC’s ? There's the Commander (again, a Lexa expy), though she isn't that prominent or involved. When her people first uncover Aang and Azula's parties, she has them brought before her to explain themselves. Discovering their Bending, she offers both parties places to stay as guests; not of her "palace" of course, but at a massive ranch that serves as her "palace's" main food providers.
The ranch itself is owned by a powerful family, that all but runs a community of servants. There's really not much to go about with them; narratively, they have no purpose except for giving the protags a place to stay, as well as an exploration of their culture. Though Aang and co (including Azula’s party) do sometimes end up doing a few chores for them during their stay, which includes helping taking care of a servant's baby, while said baby's mother is sick.
The only “major” OC would be Shirio, a minor Fire Nation noble, and foil to Kei Lo from Smoke and Shadow, but we’ll cover him in character arcs.
2. Monster and Human interactions
Another thing I came up with was “Channeling”, in which a person (usually a bender) can soul-bond with a Titan through meditation. A Titan can be telepathically/empathetically linked to a human, some verbally communicating through them. This is something taken from Toho, with the Heisei character Miki Saegusa having a psychic link to Godzilla; and the alien possession from Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster.
For example, Katara accidentally “Channels” Godzilla at a few points, starting when she and Aang meditate together. It is through this, the protagonists get more of an understanding of Godzilla, vice versa as he interacts with them through Katara. It's shown that Godzilla has a marginal understanding of human emotion, but human culture and etiquette are so beneath him, they leave him utterly baffled. His attempts to comprehend customs - be it dancing at a wedding ceremony, or sitting down to have some tea - are often Played For Laughs.
Katara and Godzilla's "bond" is partially based off of Miki Saegusa. At first you'd think that there'd be a "Brooding Boy/Monster Bonds with a Gentle Girl" but no; Godzilla is surprised (and amused) to see that, caring as she is, Katara will choke a bitch. Between the two, Aang's the more "gentle".
But strong enough Titans don’t need consent to “bond” others. For example, Ghidorah, nearly crippled for two thirds of the story, relies on “channeling” to beg for human assistance. He can’t do much of anything beyond destroying a cabbage field where he goes to rest. Ghidorah has enough understanding of human emotions, relationships, and how they follow leaders, that he seeks out one who he can speak through. Ghidorah's first attempt was to “bond” with Zuko, but fails to make a link.
His second option was to forcibly bond with the more “vulnerable” Mai speaking through her to manipulate Zuko, and turn the masses against Godzilla, propping himself up as a “Guardian Monster”. Ghidorah claims that other “Guardians” are asleep but will answer to his call. The Guardian Monsters is something taken from GMK (where Ghidorah was the hero). The story Ghidorah tells through Mai is pretty much a recap GMK, even having Ember Island host a stage play of it as “Pro Ghidorah” propaganda.
3. Other Monsters
Revisiting the story, I decided that I more monsters to fatten the story up. It’s “Godzilla vs Ghidorah” story, but they fight once at the beginning and again at the end, with not much in between. Sure, Godzilla fighting benders could add variety to the “Godzilla vs the Army”, but I’m not sure that’s enough.
Some monsters I considered include Zilla, Desotroyah, Biollante, and even Gigan, but I wanted to use them in other stories and don’t like having to use the same monsters over and over.
Mothra’s also included. For two thirds of the story, Mothra would be in a chrysalis state, having made a home in the Fire Nation. Ghidorah would constantly feed off Mothra’s power to slowly rebuild his strength, essentially torturing her throughout. All while that Mothra is another “Guardian Monster” and who doesn’t mind being fed on.
Mothra tries to “Channel” with Benders, warning them of the truth, but the only one she reaches is Azula. Towards the third act, Azula speaks for Mothra to the Three Nations...but because she’s Azula, they don’t believe her (even with Aang, Katara and Ty Lee advocating for her) - in fact, they end up attacking Mothra when she emerges, with Ghidorah declaring her "tainted" by Azula.
For another monster, I ultimately went with Bagan.
For those who don't know, Bagan was infamous for numerous planned but scrapped appearances in the Heisei era. Toho had different ideas for what Bagan would be, but the “canon” origin they went with was a “demonic dragon god” from Ancient China. This origin for Bagan would be included here. Despite/because of Bagan's obscurity and constantly being scrapped, Godzilla fans tend to overhype Bagan as this ultimate Godzilla villain. To avoid that, Bagan here is a mid-story boss.
Bagan is awakened by the Three Nations, believing him to be a “Guardian Monster” who’d help against Godzilla...only to backfire because, y'know; Demon Dragon God. Bagan lays waste to the Water Tribes and a city in the Uncharted Lands, before facing Godzilla in Ba Sing Se.
Godzilla is injured and exhausted from the fight, but with the help of Aang and co, Bagan is forced to flee...before having his power and life drained by an opportunistic Ghidorah, who lifts Godzilla into the air before dropping him into Boiling Rocks lake, before going on to lay waste to the Three Nations, with nothing but a weakened Mothra to fight him.
This prompts a new expedition to revive Godzilla.
4. Ships and Character Arcs
First up is Kataang.
Aang's arc isn't that deep; when he learns of the Ancient World, he briefly angsts about the Air Nomads and his current world being forgotten like the Ancient World. But a lot of that existential stuff takes a back seat to the threat of the Titans and the discovery of Uncharted Lands. Though it still lingers as Aang watches society shift around him. By the end, he comes to terms that even if he does revive the Air Nomads, it'll likely be in a different form.
Aang is also the first one who tries to understand the Titans as opposed to attacking them blindly. While Katara accidentally channels Godzilla, Anng and co eventually manage to verbally communicate with him (albeit through Katara's mouth). Katara is more angry at Godzilla, since he did wreck her village upon making landfall, though she cools down when it dawns on her that most of the destruction Godzilla causes is accidental.
Then we get Godzilla's perspective; he's lost faith in humanity sometime after the Final Wars. He has sensed genocide, war and environmental damage for the past ten thousand years; last time he awoke (Kyoshi's era), he saved the world from another monster, and humanities armies attacked him while he was exhausted, nearly killing him.
Aang and Katara take it upon themselves to show Godzilla that humanity is still worth caring about, letting Godzilla look through Katara's eyes as they interact with the world and culture around them.
As for Maiko’s arc.
Zuko is put into the role of Hero Antagonist as the Fire Nation throws their army against the threat of Godzilla. Zuko was who Ghidorah first had in mind to “bond” with, but found his mind too “stubborn and resilient”; Mai was considerably easier, although even she slowly severs the bond. Initially, Ghidorah uses Mai's position as Zuko's significant other, and the daughter of a governor to speak to the Fire Nation and sell his claims as a “Guardian Monster”.
To keep Mai in line, Ghidorah threatens to kill Tom Tom using her own hands. After a while, Ghidorah begins underestimating Mai as she begins putting up more resistance to their “link”, eventually overcoming Ghidroah's influence; Mai doesn’t letting herself be intimidated by him, and successfully resists his puppeteering attempts.
With Zuko's help, she severs Ghidorah's link and they plan on revealing the truth. Unfortunately, Ghidorah notices Kiyi is strong for her age, but has a “weaker, vulnerable mind”; forcibly bonding with her, threatening to self harm her to keep Zuko in check, and force him to set the Fire Nations armies against Godzilla, and threatens to have Kiyi kill Ursa to make sure Kiyi plays ball (in some revisions, he makes good on that threat).
Great guy, that Ghidorah!
And now for Azula, who I consider the stories secondary protagonist. Yes, The Ancient World would be an Azula Redemption fic.
Picking up after Smoke and Shadow, Azula is still trying to influence Zuko and his rule, getting her hands dirty when Zuko’s are tied, following Aang’s expedition behind Zuko’s back. Ty Lee is among the Kyoshi Warriors joining the expedition. Azula figures she can play the expedition to her advantage (“For Zuko’s benefit of course. What would he do without me ?”) when the miners uncovered WMDs, which were to be put on the same ships Aang and co are using “for safe keeping”.
Azula’s initial plan was to use these weapons to manufacture something to deal with the Titans (“And if anyone should have this power, it’d be the Fire Nation. Zuzu will thank me later.”) However, Godzilla attacks Aang’s expedition, leaving them - Azula and her crew included - on the Uncharted Lands.
At the start of her arc, Azula herself isn't seeking redemption. She’s still trying to “guide” Zuko’s rule, and maintains a haughty front 70% of the time. But now that she's out of an environment, with none of Ozai’s lingering influences, the emotions Azula considered "weakness" start to surface.
Like Zuko, Azula would have a “bonding chapter/episode” with Team Avatar, and two with Ty Lee (three if you count Azula and Katara looking after her when Ty Lee has a fever). Azula wouldn’t have the same humility as Zuko and very reluctant to show her vulnerability to others. Whenever she shows compassion or altruism (notably, saving a baby from choking) she's quick to downplay it. It isn’t until Azula accidentally “bonds” with Mothra that she airs out her baggage to the others. Even then, she puts up a haughty front afterwards.
For much of the story, the cast has mixed feelings with Azula being among them. Aang is the most optimistic of them, being one who tries to see the best in everyone. Katara and Ty Lee are cautious about Azula, but warm up to her as her arc goes on. Then you got this asshole, Ty Lee's “boyfriend” Shirio (the fics only major OC) who takes “Azula is crazy and needs to be taken down” as gospel. Shirio has a hate boner for Azula, and soon makes it everyone’s problem.
While this is a Tyzula story, we don't go for “Caretaker Ty Lee”. In fact, Ty Lee’s arc is about being assertive.
Ty Lee doesn't immediately forgive Azula, nor does get relegated to Azula's support system. In fact, I'd say Aang would have more to do with helping Azula. Ty Lee has these mixed feelings, always second guessing herself whether she is just afraid of Azula or has buried romantic feelings for her. In fact, during the botched hijacking, Ty Lee is the one who fights Azula head on.
At first Ty Lee reconnects with a childhood friend of hers, Shirio, a minor Fire Nation noble trying to insert himself into Zuko’s circle. Shirio has a Nice Guy/White Knight complex, trying to be the “healthy/wholesome” savior to an “infantile/naïve” Ty Lee. Shirio also joins Aang’s expedition because Ty Lee’s on the trip.
Ty Lee spends much of the first half telling off Azula and standing up to herself, but bit by bit her resolve falters, and her more romantic feelings start to boil over. While Ty Lee herself isn't that instrumental to Azula's reformation, their relationship is used to juxtapose it. The more Azula heals and betters herself, the more she and Ty Lee start to reconnect, and it’s only when the walls break down does Ty Lee let her own walls break too.
By contrast, Shirio shows a more toxic side to Ty Lee (and everyone else).
Shirio's corruption arc is juxtaposed with Azula's redemption. At first Shirio seems like an enthusiastic friend looking to help the protagonists, but has a few red flags. Sure, he uses gaslighting tactics whenever Ty Lee second guesses herself. Sure, he self harms when things aren’t going his way. And when initially stranded, Shirio keeps an injured Ty Lee in an isolated camp, claiming everyone else was killed, to be “alone” with her, and feigns surprise/relief when they’re found. But y’know, he’s such a Nice Guy!
Anyways, the more Azula opens up, (re)connects with others and heals herself ? Shirio becomes more bitter, vindictive and unhinged, showing himself as the unstable monster he sees Azula as. He even silently considers smothering a baby because Azula “tainted” it by saving it from choking; he only doesn’t go through with it because he couldn’t get away with it. Later, Shirio helps awaken Bagan, deliberately provoking Bagan’s attack on two cities, getting hundreds of thousands of people killed; all because Ty Lee told him off and shared a dance with Azula at this ceremony they attend.
Azula’s first redemption moment (besides saving a baby) comes when she gets her hands on the WMD’s, but rather than manufacturing something that can kill the Titans, she instead uses it to power Godzilla, when he is left near dead by Ghidorah. The second is during the final battle with Ghidorah, where Azula pulls Kiyi from a river after Ghidorah has her throw herself in. Azula ends up resuscitating the unconscious Kiyi, and the first thing Kiyi does when she sees Azula is give her a hug.
At the end of her arc, Azula is in a much better place than we saw her before; she is even given a position of power in Republic City; I see post-redemption Azula as being “Reformed But Not Tamed Type”, putting her ruthlessness into being a businesswoman.
In a Korra era sequel, it’d be revealed Azula had a hand in the United Republics industrial development, investing in different industries. Specifically, she helped a young Hiroshi Sato develop Future Industries, and Hiroshi becomes very close to Azula and Ty Lee's daughter.
Yes, I’m implying what you think I’m implying
4. Other Stuff
So Azula's not a human antagonist, then who fills that spot ? Technically the United Republic, with the Three Nations bringing their armies together to stop Godzilla; Zuko leading and representing the Fire Nation, Hakoda for the Water Tribe, Kuei for the Earth Kingdom. I say “Antagonist” and not “Villain”; they're only antagonists because they're in opposition to the protagonists.
There’s no ill will with the protagonists. You see where they're coming from, and even if they're being manipulated and misguided by an Eldritch Dragon, they are uniting to stop what they see as a tangible threat to their people. And they do realize what they're doing was wrong and spend the third act trying to make things right.
Buuuuuut for a less nuanced Hate Sink ? Shirio’s your guy! Though he spends the last third of the story imprisoned after setting off Bagan’s rampage.
The third act plays out similarly to King of the Monsters, with a revived Godzilla battling an enhanced Ghidorah in the Fire Nations Imperial City. Godzilla would be backed up by the three armies, as well as Team Avatar and Azula. Ghidorah would eventually get overwhelmed and try to flee, but through Aang and Katara's water and air bending - enhanced by Mothra - Ghidorah's frozen solid mid air and explodes into a cloud of snow by Godzilla atomic breath.
Mothra would survive this fight, but would sense something “off world” and fly off to investigate. Godzilla leaves peacefully after staring down the survivors, and the Three Nations have to rebuild their societies. And Azula's in a much better place with her family, Mai, and especially Ty Lee.
Beyond that, there's really not much else to cover.
I remember writing this one sequence down that I really liked; it had Aang and his team (and Azula and hers) exploring the Uncharted Land's culture, and end up invited to a wedding. It was the “breather” episode of the story, with Aang sharing a dance with Katara, and Ty Lee sharing a dance with Azula.
In this sequence, we learn that this society has recreated/preserved songs from the Ancient World though various methods (mostly oral tradition). This is low key an excuse for IRL songs to exist in this story and it’s Korra era sequel.
I call it the “How Do I Live ?” sequence.

It’s Friday and we’re back again! This week we continue with the community recs from our farm witch friends. Check out these fics and be sure to leave the writers some love!
---------------
Beneath the canopy (@streetlampsunset) “It's hot and sweet at once and so lovely.”
Eggs and the flour, no higher power (withkissesfour) “It has kisses and cake what else do you need lol. But really its about cake tasting and pre wedding excitement, and pure unadulterated love. It's playful and sweet and full of tasty cake descriptions, but at the end of the day it’s mostly about Patrick wanting to kiss his delicious husband to be.”
Ever mine, ever thine, ever ours (@aeliagioia) “I love the universe the author created in this story. It is cannon-divergent and a bit AU. It was written early into David and Patrick’s relationship so there are a few inaccuracies, but it is still a great story. I love the family dynamic between Patrick, his siblings, and his cousins. Patrick has a wild side in this story and it’s great fun to see. David fits right in with them in such a genuine way. The author crafted many hilarious and sweet moments. I have read it twice and after writing this review I may have to read it again!”
Firsts (@frizzlenox, HowOldAreWe, @n0connections) “I love the intimacy between friends and how respectful they're with each other.”
I see colors when I hear your voice (@this-will-be-our-year) “It’s a Pleasantville AU that melds the worlds of Pleasantville and Schitt's Creek together seamlessly, and with a lot of heart. If you enjoy the film you'll enjoy this adaptation too.”
In the eyes of the beholder (lonely_ampersand/@smblmn) “In this absolutely lovely fic, nervous Patrick misunderstands the concept behind a research study he signs up for, and ends up befriending David and Stevie. It is sweet and hilarious, and absolutely worth a read!”
My heart was broke, my head was sore (@blueink3) “I love everything about this piece. The pacing is perfect, the character voices are spot on, and top quality writing has you feeling every emotion right along with the characters. I'm angst avoidant for the most part and there's very little true angst with a lovely happy ending. This is a favorite comfort read of mine.”
One town’s very like another (kostia) “I think I must have a kink for competent David. In this one, he's a chess grandmaster. Look, I don't know anything about chess, but this was utterly fantastic.”
The privilege of being yours (asoftplacetoland) “This is a great soft dom/top!Patrick fic with a heaping load of fluffy fiancés in love. If you like Take Charge Patrick, you will love the addition of a little light bondage and spanking, but melt from the sweetness from the both of them by the final chapter.”
Quarantined (unkindravens/@corvidapocalypse) “I'm not the slightest bit joking when I say that this fic is in my Top Five fics I've ever read. It happened to be one of the first I found in this fandom, and I find the characterization so spot on, and the story so adorable, that it's one of the first ones I rec to people just because. ESPECIALLY if they're not generally transformative fic loving people. It's not even dirty! And it never fails to make me laugh at the exact same places every time. You should read it.”
Somebody is digging my bones (redwineandqueer) “(Fic is rated E as a warning!). I love crossovers and this is such an original take to combine these two fandoms. It's also super hot, the plot is entertaining, all the characters get some time to shine, and it stars Alexis and David being their typical Rose sibling selves, and also being badasses (of course). Characterization even in the midst of dinosaurs is stellar and I just have a super warm soft space in my heart for this fic. (Also, dinosaurs are awesome, I don't care how old you are, still awesome.)”
Sometimes, home is a person (houdini74/@mostlyinthemorning) “I think it's a very underrated fic. I love it and every characterization. From Stevie's motel expanding ambitions, Alexis being successful in NYC to David and Patrick's marriage 5 years down the line. All original characters are amazing and the author takes great care in showing Patricks conflict about having family suddenly living close and his fear of being stuck. I reread it once a month, it brings me joy and I can't thank the author enough.”
Summer is more than freedom (@ships-to-sail, @storieswelove) “Childhood friends David and Patrick might be my favourite trope, and this is one of the best. The characters are so clearly drawn, and even though it’s entirely David POV you know exactly what Patrick is thinking, even if David doesn’t. The summer camp atmosphere is beautifully described and immerses you. It’s perfectly paced and feels exactly the right length. The final chapter lives rent-free in my head. I’ve read this three times now and I’m sure I’ll be coming back to it many times.“
Sustineo (@rockinhamburger) “This is a gorgeously written story. It has a remarkable amount of depth for being only just over 10k words. It's lusciously vivid, deeply emotional and artfully executed. This fic is a top favorite of mine.”
The touch of the kings and the breath of the wind (foxtails/@ratchet) “I love autumn and this captured that beginning of fall feeling while also giving us a look at how happy and ridiculously in love David and Patrick are as they settle into their married life. It was like cuddling up in a cozy blanket and having a hot cocoa. Foxtails is one of my favorite authors because their writing is so beautiful.”
A very specific store (@startswithhope) “Well for a start you should read everything that startswithhope writes because they are amazing, but this fic is one I always come back to. It's an AU where Christmas World didn't pull out and David meets Patrick when he applies for a job to work there. It's about Christmas in July which is both fun and appropriate for this time of year 🙂There's fluff and humour and falling in love, with a dash(-er ) of pining too. You'll feel as though all your Christmas wishes have come true in July if you read this sweet and jolly fic.” what my head overlooks the senses will show to my heart (cromarty) “Goddddddd David falling in love with Patrick over the phone and then deciding to go for it and Patrick being his usual sassy self and ALEXIS BEING HER EXCELLENT SELF.”
You are the only, only, only (@designatedgrape) “Athletic!David? Need I say more? Also minor angst and university AU and did I mention Sporty!David?”

The Hunt
(The Delta Squad and a Predator(Yautja) crossover)
A summary and notes of a Predator and Clone Wars crossover fic!
Summary:
The Delta Squad are sent on a mission to scope out a possible Sepratist presence on the Jungle World of Dajhitt. The separatists may have a secret base on this world, where a horrible weapon may be in progress of being built.
The Delta’s are there to stop it, but things never go according to plan for these Clone Commandos. The jungle of the world of Dajhitt is a very active place, noises are constantly all around them. Thousands of pairs of eyes watch the Delta’s as they do their job, but one pair sends a shiver down their spines more than any other.
The eyes are of a Yautja warrior, a very skilled one at that. The Clone Commandos catch his attention quickly, and the warrior becomes hungry for their hunt instead of his original one.
Will they survive this mission? Or will they become nothing more than a trophy on Yautja's wall?
As @scuttlebuttin said in Jungle Moved “~Better run through your jungle, boys. Don’t look back to see or else you become a shish kabob~”
Notes and warnings under the cut! Please read! :)
Notes:
This story is kind of similar to the story Jungle Moved that I wrote with @scuttlebuttins a while back. In this story though, it is in the Star Wars Universe, in a galaxy far far away from Earth and its island of Gutlama.
The characters are the lovely Delta’s! And a Predator OC I made while writing this. You can find out more about both when you read. It switches points of view between the Delta’s and the Yautja often, but it’s obvious when. You’ll be seeing a lot of my predator OC in this. ;)
(Also! The Yautja, the planet, and many of the creatures are of my own creation! But I do not own the Delta Squad, or the Yautja race. Not even the battle droids and other Sepratist things that may or may not be involved in this story.)
To read this you don’t need to know anything about the Delta’s or really much about Yautja! Watching Predator before reading this isn’t advised like when I wrote Jungle Moved, so have fun.
Just enjoy the read and remember; never look back when you run from the beasts of the jungle.
I will post the same warnings at the beginning of each chapter to not spoil what happens within them!! So stay on your toes my darling readers!
Here is the gist of the warnings:
Blood, Gore, Death, Major death?? Alien technology, Delta squad humor, Horrible language, like so many cuss words, Alien dude, like a big sexy alien dude who's an OC of mine, Violence, fighting, Planet I made, jungle stuff, suspension, multiple parts, Alien culture, clone culture, injury?? Animal death, the Delta Boys are called ‘clones’ a lot and I am so sorry
Going into detail on the warnings here!
So this fic will be similar, but yet very different from Jungle Moved.
There will still be a lot of violence and jungle things, but not nearly as many guns or death as there was in Jungle Moved. I’m nasty and predator fics really let me embrace my love for gore, so please enjoy!
Find chapter one here!

Hmm. The way I approach worldbuilding is different for everything I do, and if there are similarities or crossovers, I do like to have cheeky nods to that, because otherwise everything is a separate world (but the way I write, there's always multiple worlds and layers of reality -- the future will haunt the present as much as the past does because they are not separate except space is, to some degree). Everything coexists, and so I suppose I also have consistent lore that spans every single one of my works in that way, however, I treat the actual worldbuilding of each separate world differently.
Let's see if I can explain it more clearly.
Take, for example, Blood Upon The Snow, which is a Skyrim x TLH crossover fanfic. It is both an AU branching off canon where events from the TLH series unfolded differently, and takes place in Skyrim, which has its own set of worldbuilding, and so I have to find a middle ground to combine the two pieces of media and their separate mythologies/rules/etc. And the way I utilise the existence of a multiverse is different too -- I usually have greater beings that conduct the universal orchestra, in a sense, and they will shift depending on the story. In BUTS (...interesting), we're dealing with (semi-spoilers ahead) beings that shift between what TLH readers know as Greater Demons/Princes of Hell, and what in Skyrim are Daedric Princes. This implies the continued existence of demons or demon-like beings throughout the dimensions.
Then, let's take a look at the worldbuilding for my original series, Moralis. Also exists on a multiverse level, and each separate dimension has its own worldbuilding and rules. Earth 24 is the most like ours, 42 exists to juxtapose it not just in societal contexts but also its geography where the ocean exists in the sky and forests fill where the ocean should be, and Earth 13 exists in perpetual eclipse and relies on magical farming practices to sustain everything. These are just the most notable ones. E24 follows our rules: no unicorns, no mermaids, little to no magic in general. E42, by contrast, is brimming with magical life, and thus requires its own systems of law and governance to be managed (and in a much more reasonable system than whatever Ministry of Magic middle grade fantasy BS has going on), and merfolk, fair folk, giant folk, werecreatures, and vampires exist. Vampirism is a disease, however, rather than a distinct species. E13 has a magic that is not like E42 -- it's a product that can be made rather than something in the air that exists already. There's also gods/deities/celestial beings, but they're of a more vague nature than, say, Princes of Hell and Daedra, and they take up residence in either multiple places at once of just a single chosen area.
Then look at my other fanfic When Prometheus Gave Us Fire And The Gods Stole It Back, which, while yes, it does deal with demons and religion just the same as TLH canon, I've interpreted it differently and changed the lore of how things close to "vampires"/"demons" work. It has to do with a lack of the "fire" that makes humanity, and it deals with both Christianity and Greek mythology. Again, it exists on a multiversal level since we can physically visit places like Hell or the Underworld, but it operates on different rules and lore compared to other works of mine. Vampirism is still a sort of disease, but it has a more supernatural and occult lens, whereas in Moralis it's treated more like an STD than a plague that seems to pick and choose its afflicted victims. And not all other myths exist to the same extent.
Finally, my original standalone Wolfhound operates again in a different world, at different points in time, and with completely different settings and supernatural lore. No vampires, not-quite-werecreatures, no fair folk. There are references to their myths/stories, but they don't exist. Instead, we have other supernatural creatures mutated into grotesque beings through a curse on the land they live. There's an infectious disease element to the things that mutate, but that's where the similarities to other worldbuilding pretty much end. The world is a lot more steampunk than others I've done.
It's obvious by this point, but all my works have similar elements, themes, and inspirations. I do separate worldbuilding for each though because it often is custom made to fit the specific story I want to tell. This is my way, but it's by no means the right way to do things. I could tell dozens of stories using the same worldbuilding that E42 has in my Moralis series alone, and each of those stories would be fine on their own like that, just using the same, I guess, "game mechanics". I mean, we've seen authors like Tolkien do the same before. So, I don't think readers would find it weird. If they choose to interpret all your works happening in the same universe since they use the same mechanics/worldbuilding, all the power to them, it'll just power fanfics. I don't think there's much of a problem there. However, the sacraments and ordinances may need repetitive explaining? You never know where every single reader is starting.
Personally, when I've read authors who do different worlds for different stories, it's made the most sense to me and I guess that's where I also adopted it. It's when you use the same worldbuilding rules that you perhaps might want to explain more about that, whether everything does exist simultaneously or not. Otherwise, I can see that potentially getting confusing at times, as much as I also think it's not a weird thing to do. I mean, it's where the fanfics and fan theories would come in if it's unexplained, but that's why I point out there'd be questions about a few things. You can even have a "brand" of worldbuilding, like I've established above, and not use every bit of it all throughout everything.
Again, everyone is different, and there is no right way to do things here.
i realize i keep on using the same magic system for all of my writings. which, i guess, is on one hand objectively fine: i don't have to invent something new every single time which saves time and energy for me, therefore also i don't have to teach my readers a new magic system every time, and it's well put together—while not necessarily the most original, it doesn't feel like it needs to be, it's good and grounded and the point is it's supposed to feel only barely out of reach, like something the readers could touch, something your grandma would pull out of the back of a recipe book. the issue though is a) i don't know if it might be weird for readers coming from one world to another and finding the same system, and b) i worry it relies too much on people knowing how sacraments/ordinances in churches work.
tagging @alastairstom @tleeaves @chaosandtwo and @echow334 because you feel like people who'll have good thoughts/opinions on worldbuilding.
#worldbuilding#original works#and fanfics#with original elements because I always feel lazy and uninspired if I don't at least add Something new to canon
