quackity pushed his hair out of his face, fingers placing themselves in a rhythm on the keyboard. music played through his headphones, placed on the second to last volume to help soothe his aching headache. eyes traveling to the corner of the screen, his eyebrows furrowed at the sight of it being 4:57am. rubbing his eyes, he leaned back and let out a sigh. saving the document he was writing on, quackity shut off the monitor and shuffled his feet.

the door across the room opened. snapping his eyes forward, quackity was met with his s/o holding their cat, tired smile adorning their face. quackity mirrored the smile, pushing himself off of the chair and standing beside his love. “you’re awake late.” he muttered, though his words slurred together. y/n looked at him with a lopsided grin, pressing a short kiss to his lips. “couldn’t sleep without you.” quackity gasped, using his hands to cover tiger’s eyes.

the paired laughed, dragging themselves to the bedroom.

it had been a few weeks. y/n’s eyes forced themselves open, bed empty beside them. quackity was laughing down the hallway, having to ignored the text from y/n asking him to tone down just a little. rubbing their eyes, y/n sat up and tapped on their phone. 4:23 am. muttering a curse to themself, they laid back down. shutting their eyes, y/n eventually fell asleep to the sound of their boyfriends muffled laughter and curses.

quackity ended the stream near 5am. he leaned back with a sigh, rubbing his face as the discord call eventually dropped. grabbing his phone, he check notifications and read the text from y/n with a frown. he texted a quick sorry ! just saw this :( coming to bed now <3. with no text back, he pushed himself off of the chair and shuffled his way to the bedroom. tiger rubbed against his leg, the mexican biting a smile back. y/n laid curled up, body facing the wall as they snored quietly. 

quackity shuffled out of his day clothes, sliding into pajamas as he laid beside y/n and fell asleep.

y/n danced around the kitchen, music playing quietly through their phone as they made their breakfast. they hummed along, carefully pouring their cereal into their bowl. scratching their chin, they turned at the noise of somebody behind them. quackity stood in the doorway, hair messed up from sleep. “hi, my love.” y/n greeted.

taking a minute to answer, quackity shut off his phone and sighed. “good morning.” he sat down at the table, rubbing his eyes. “whats up?” y/n asked, pouring their milk and grabbing a spoon from the drawer. they sat across from quackity, who had picked up his phone as it buzzed. 

“tommy wants me to record today and george wants me on his stream. i’m trying to make them both work and i just don’t know if i can.” quackity explained, using his hand for more emphasize. y/n swallowed the cereal before answering, crossing their legs at the ankle. “i think you need a day off.” they huffed, eyes rolling. “i wish.” quackity responded, standing to make his own cereal.

“i’m serious. we haven’t spent time together in forever.” y/n shrugged, getting no response. “i can try for soon, but definitely not today.” quackity kissed y/n’s temple before he sat across from them again.

quackity didn’t talk to y/n until the next afternoon.

y/n sat on the couch, holding a mug of hot cocoa. their legs were crossed, eye trained to the television screen as rapunzel played. they hummed along to the songs, turning at the sound of footsteps. quackity held his phone to his ear, laughing at something somebody said.

y/n smiled at him and gave a short wave, quackity repeating the wave and making his way into the kitchen. the refrigerator door opened and closed, y/n turning their head and resuming the movie. 

quackity took out the strawberry container from the fridge and made his way into the living room, standing at the doorway as he listened to karl talk. eventually he tossed the container away, finishing the strawberries and going back upstairs to his recording room.

by the time the movie finished, the sun was barely kissing the horizon. turning spotify on through the tv, music started to play through the playlist, ‘y/n & quackity!!’. y/n smiled at the memory of them sitting together and making the playlist on their second date.

making their way into the kitchen, y/n opened the cabinet and pulled out the pasta noodles. pulling out a pot and filling it with water, they began to boil it and dump in the noodles. their phone gave a simple ding! and another notification came through.

y/n frowned, though gave a simple thumbs up. they tapped the spoon on the side of the bowl and left it to drip, entering the living room and shutting of the tv in a whole. tiger sat on the couch, head peeking up with a quiet ‘mrrp?’ as the noise suddenly ended. cooing, y/n walked over and scooped him up, cradling him as they made their way into the kitchen again to stir the pasta.

setting tiger down on the floor after 15 minutes, y/n scooped the pasta into two seperate bowls and ran butter through them. deciding against sauce, y/n placed the bowls on the table and texted quackity.

the food was still untouched by the next morning.

it had been a while since then. y/n woke up before quackity. they were faced with his back, black sweatshirt hugging his body. they sat up slowly, sun fading through the curtains and hitting the blanket. they shivered a little, blinking hard a few times to try and wake themselves up. after a few more moments, they pulled their legs out from underneath the blanket and carefully moved away from quackity and out of the room.

quackity woke up an hour or so later, groaning softly as the sun had now positioned itself to hit his eyes directly. he sat up, head turning to look at y/n. frowning as nobody was there, he picked up his phone and drug himself out of the room. the house was empty as he searched around for his s/o, frown adorning his face.

standing in front of the fridge, a sticky note hung to it.

quackity ripped off the sticky note, crumbling it in his pocket as he opened the fridge to search for his breakfast.

y/n returned home that night to the noise of muffled swears and laughter, though y/n wore mainly a frown. their bones ached and a headache roared. sighing, they dropped their bag and kicked off their shoes and made their way into the bathroom. they opened the medicine cabinet and took out tylenol, swallowing the pill with sink water in their mouth.

rubbing their nose, y/n made their way upstairs to their bedroom. they grabbed clean clothes and made their way into the bathroom, turning on the shower and letting the water run until it was hot. they stripped and dropped their clothes onto the floor, pushing them into the corner before stepping into the shower. y/n couldn’t help the sigh that escaped their mouth as everything from the day washed away, lathering their hair with shampoo and conditioner.

quackity ended the stream around the same time that y/n stepped out of the shower. he sat at his desk for a moment longer, chatter with his friends slowly dying down. “hey guys, i’m gonna head off now.” after a wave of goodbyes, he left the discord call and stood up.

quackity made his way into the bedroom, y/n sat on the edge of the bed. sliding off his beanie, quackity ruffled his hair and let himself fall beside his s/o. they didn’t talk, y/n texting somebody before shutting off their phone. they let out a sigh and rubbed their face, tossing their phone beside them.

curling up, y/n and quackity fell asleep facing each other for the last time.

they woke up at the same time. y/n sat up and rubbed their eyes, yawn falling from their mouth. there was a tension in the room quackity couldn’t figure out. “hey, wanna watch a movie?” y/n asked, scratching their nose as they met eyes with their sleepy boyfriend. “mm.. i can’t. i have homework and i have to be on a stream,” quackity slurred, missing how y/n’s eyebrows furrowed. tsking, y/n stood. “right.”

quackity’s head shot up at their tone. “what do you mean?” he questioned, choosing to stay silent on their eye roll. “you haven’t spent time with me in ages. i’m shocked i even fell asleep with you beside me.” the younger shrugged, opening their closet to pull out a sweatshirt.

“yeah, because its my job? the fuck do you mean?” quackity sat up, leaning his weight on his hands. “okay? you can still make time for me. i’m not just somebody who feeds you, alex.” y/n turned to meet his eyes, hands resting on their hips. “i can handle myself, you know.” quackity rolled his eyes.

“i wanna see you fucking try.”  y/n looked the older up and down. “you just mooch off of me anyway. if you’re so pissy about me working then leave.” quackity seethed, anger radiating off of me. he froze as the words fell out of his mouth, y/n’s hands dropping. “i hope you fucking starve. waste of space.” y/n cursed, turning and grabbing their bag from the closet.

“y/n, i didn’t-- we didn’t mean that.” quackity apologized, stepping towards the younger. y/n stayed silent, shoving random clothes into their backpack. quackity didn’t try to fight them, standing and watching them pack with tears brimming his eyes.

“..is it the end for us?” it was silent. the silence pushed against quackity’s skull, taunting him in a way he would remember forever. y/n turned, face blank as their eyes were puffy.

“it was the end a long time ago.”

A Thursday night in the sweltering heat was not your idea of a good time. Your boyfriend however, has a few plans up his sleeve to help you ‘cool off.’

The entirety of the back of your neck is coated in a vomit inducing amount of sticky sweat.  Your normally cozy apartment felt like a stale-scented sauna from which you could not escape. Due to scheduled maintenance, your building  had informed it’s tenants that:

“This Thursday, July 18th, we will be shutting off the Central Air system for a yearly tune up.  The tune up will begin at approximately 10pm and, conclude around 5am to avoid inconveniencing our tenants. We ask that you plan accordingly.

Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue however, your region had been experiencing an intense heatwave that had kept temperatures well above their national average for about a week now. There was no mercy after sundown as the temperatures were only wavering a few degrees lower.  

Hell, it was absolute hell.

The heat is not something you handled well. You liked to think of yourself as a fairly calm and reasonable person. Well your calmness and your reason-ability were no match for the sweltering heat that seemed to ebb and flow against the perimeter of your body.  What’s almost nearly as irritating, is that your boyfriend, who had spent the entire day shirtless, seemed to have no issue with the lack of air conditioning.

“Jagi,” He chuckles from the counter-top, shaking the black fringe out of his eyes as he continues to cut up a few strawberries, “…it’s not that bad. The air’s only been off for an hour…”

Your irritation simmers at a dangerous rate underneath your skin, “Jin, it’s literally a thousand degrees in here…”

He snorts, shaking his head, rolling his broad shoulders before scooping the strawberries into the blender, his dark eyes scanning the counter to locate the bottle of silver tequila.

“You’re being dramatic…which is my job.” He smirks as your displeasure becomes even more evident on your face, pouring a few shots of tequila into the mix.  “…The margaritas will help cool you down and, if you want, we can always go down to the pool and, wait it out.”

Huffing, you lean hopelessly against the counter, wishing that you could crawl inside of the freezer Jin was currently pulling ice cubes out of.

“The pool closes in ten minutes…” You groan into your palm, trying to ignore the fact that your ANKLES were covered in sweat.

Jin shrugs, the ice cubes landing in the blender with a loud sloshing sound, “So? We pay rent here, the worst they’re going to do, is tell us to leave…”

He makes a compelling argument. Nobody from management would be in at this hour and, most of the security group would likely be with the maintenance crew. You look up at him, admiring the way the sweat glistened across his bare chest as he added a few squeezes of lime juice into the blender.  

Damn him for looking good in these conditions.

“That’s not the worst idea you’ve ever had…”

Jin chuckles, brows rising at your comment, “No, the worst idea I’ve ever had was the time I tried to make a move on you in grade 12 by leaving a homemade custard pie in your locker…”

You giggle at the memory of a very nervous, lanky Jin explaining to you that  there was a now putrid pie in your locker because, he had no idea you would be away on vacation for the week. He had just assumed you ate it and, didn’t like him.

Pausing in your tracks, you feel your stomach churn in an uncomfortable way, “Wait…but-“

Your eyes look over him, assessing his answer. Jin chuckled nervously from the counter before his eyes roll in the wake of the awkward silence.

“Jagi, that was like 8 years ago, you’re not seriously upset are you?” His tone is teasing but, gentle, desperately hoping he hadn’t actually bothered you.

No, of course not. Why would you be upset?  

That would be ridiculous.  

You and Jin had been dating for 7 years and, lasted not only through 4 years of long distance when the two of you went away for school but, you made it through the countless hardships one often encounters at the beginning of adulthood.

7 years later and, you’re both still head over heels in love with one another and, despite your busy schedules, still manage to find time to indulge in eachother…often.

However, his comment soothes your petty jealousy (temporarily) and, you do exactly as he instructed you not to do, and slipped on the strappy red bikini you had bought earlier that month.

Moments later, you exit the room to find your boyfriend carefully scooping pink slushy liquid into matching, tropical tiki glasses, his bottom lip tucked between his teeth in concentration.

Fuck, you really loved this man.

“Are you re-“ He begins his sentence before halting it abruptly, his eyes widening in horror as he spots you, “YAH! WHAT DID I JUST SAY? DO YOU WANT ME DEAD? IS THAT IT? YOU WANT YOUR BOYFRIEND DEAD?”

You burst out into another fit of giggles, parading over in his direction, “STOP, you’re gonna wake up the neighbors…”

Guffawing, he reaches for you, fingers wiggling in anticipation, “SO?? THERES A FIRE IN THE BUILDING Y/N! THEY SHOULD BE AWAKE…”

Your stomach is painfully sore from your increasing laughter as you grab his hands and, lean into his gesticulating frame. Your lips attach themselves to his momentarily to stop the noise, fearing that your neighbors will think there is an actual fire in the building.

Jin smiles into your lips, his strong hands coming out to grip your waist.

“You’re ridiculous…and it still feels like we’re on the fucking sun so, save your touching for the pool.”

Jin chuckles, stealing a kiss before, putting his hands up, and conceding with you.

“Fair enough…can you grab the towels? I’ll get the drinks…”

Roughly 10 minutes later, you and Jin make it to the gated pool that sat in the center of your complex. The summer breeze was a slight improvement from your apartment but, the air was still sticky and, far too dense to be considered pleasant.

“Do you have the key?” Jin inquires in a hushed tone, turning back to you at the gate.

“Fuck….” You groan, looking dreadfully back at your apartment.

He snickers, shaking his head at you before setting the drinks down, “It’s alright, I got it…”

“Be careful!”  A panicked whisper-yell tumbles out of your mouth as your boyfriend grips the top of the fence, hoisting himself over.

He snickers again as he lands on the other side effortlessly and, pulls the gate open.

“Don’t trip on the margaritas…I will leave you.” He warns as he brushes past you to pick them up.

You snort, tossing the towels onto a nearby chair, “I’m glad our nearly decade long relationship is so easily broken over spilled margaritas.”

“Frozen strawberry margaritas...that you watched me slave over, thankyouverymuch...” He corrects, smirking as he sets the cups down on the edge of the pool.

A giggle leaves your lips as you follow him over to the water.

The pool area was strangely eerie at night. During the day, especially this time of year, it was loud, crowded and, reeked of sunblock and, burnt barbecue. Tonight however, after hours, the area was impossibly quiet, the pool lights illuminating its entirety with a soft blue-green hue.  

A light splash brought you out of your head and, you turn towards the pool to see that Jin had already hopped in, the water in the shallow end only coming up to his waist.

“Is it cold?” You wavered slightly at the steps causing Jin to roll his eyes, his hand coming up to push his hair back.

“No, it’s ‘literally a thousand degrees’ remember? It feels like bath water...” Jin teases, opening his arms to beckon you forward, “...get in here, I’m already lonely.”

You flip him off at his mocking of your tone before giggling as he pretends to catch it like a kiss. Soon enough, you decide to trust his judgement and, slowly begin wading into the pool. The water proved to be the exact temperature Jin described and, it was so soothing that you found yourself immediately dunking under water. The uncomfortable sweaty feeling finally comes to an end and, you feel your mood improving significantly as you begin to cool down.

“You’re a genius Kim Seokjin...” You murmur as he starts making his way toward you, grabbing your drinks along the way.

He laughs at that, handing you the tiki cup before taking a sip from his own.

“I know I am but, I’m glad to finally hear it from you jagi,” He gestures to the cup, looking at you pointedly, “drink this before it melts. Let me know what you think, I added extra fresh strawberries this time...the syrupy shit is too sweet.”

You follow his directions, taking a drink from the tiki cup, humming happily as the refreshing strawberry slush envelops your tastebuds.

“It’s amazing, as usual, I like the fresher berries too, it’s less overbearing...”

“Okay good, I’ll make it that way next time,” Jin smiles, pleased with your reaction before jerking his head towards you, “So are you gonna come over here now or, are you going to keep torturing your poor, sweet, innocent, boyfriend?”

His face turns up into pout but, as usual, there’s mischief behind his eyes.

“You’re so dumb...” You laugh at his antics but, you don’t fight him, setting your drink down before wading over to him. Jin joins you in your laughter as he sinks down further into the water to encourage you to wrap your legs around him.

“Mm thank you... “ He murmurs happily, grinning as you settle into his grip.

You're grateful that the water provides such buoyancy that you’re both essentially weightless because, it allows you to wrap yourself around your boyfriend without fear of him dropping you.

Which he has definitely done before.

“Hi....” You hum as he wades around the shallow end of the pool, his face lit up with pure contentment.

"ObsidianTech was going to launch its new glasses tonight," said the woman behind the mask. "But they won't if all the guests are dead first!"

Kara recognized that scepter, pressing her lips and stepping forward. It was Leviathan's.

"Andrea, call the police," said Kara before heading to the right. "I'll help people out of here," she said before losing sight of her girlfriend.

With her super speed, Kara ran into some hallway away from the building and took off her glasses, letting her super suit materialize on her body. Then she flew back to the center of the party, landing hard in front of the masked sorceress.

"You really chose a bad day to ruin a party," said Supergirl.

"I was waiting for you to show up, Supergirl," said the woman. "When I defeat you in front of everyone, Obsidian will have no choice but to cancel the release of those lenses."

The woman pointed her scepter at her and fired, but Kara was already expecting it and dodged her with her super speed, using it to run towards her and punch her, but the woman caught her fist with unexpected great strength, and she threw her against a nearby wall, making a hole and raising a cloud of dust and cement that flew around her.

Kara heard a loud thump and it was then when she saw her, a dark figure who had lunged toward the sorceress with a piece of chair in her hand, and had hit her on the head. 'What the hell?' thought Kara, standing up. It was a woman in a suit as black as the shadows themselves, wearing a black mask and a hood hiding her head. The villain staggered but did not lose her balance, recovering immediately and throwing a white ray at her with her scepter. But the shadow woman dematerialized and the lightning bolt passed through her and hit a wall. 'She can dematerialize', thought Kara. Suddenly the shadow woman was on the villain's left, then on her right, then the left, trying to hit her, but it was evident from the clumsiness of her movements that she was not an experienced fighter. 'She can also teleport'.

Then Kara remembered where she had seen her before. She was the same shadow woman who had faced Rama Khan before the Crisis, in the old universe.

"Wait!" Supergirl yelled before the sorceress hit the shadow girl with her scepter in the face, breaking her nose and making her fall to the floor.

Anger filled her heart and taking advantage of the distraction, Kara used her speed again to attack her, giving her a punch that made her fly off upwards, making a hole in the ceiling and landing noisily on the roof. For a moment she had to decide whether to attack her immediately or make sure the shadow girl was fine. Her instincts told her to end the fight, but her common sense told her that she had to make sure the girl was not badly hurt.

At full speed, Kara ran towards her and knelt beside her. Her nose was bleeding from under the black mask, and she seemed to have momentarily passed out, but when Supergirl shook her she regained consciousness.

"You've to get out of here," said Supergirl softly. "You can get hurt."

"I'm not going anywhere," she said angrily and stood up, looking angrily at the ceiling. "I won't let that bastard ruin everything," she said, pronouncing the R with a curious accent.

Kara knew she had no time to insist. "Can you teleport other people?"

"Yes."

Supergirl looked at the ceiling again. "She's right above us. Don't let her see us coming."

She took the stranger's hand and suddenly everything turned into shadows, shadows that were part of her, wrapping around her and taking her quickly to the ceiling. For Kara it lasted a second, but she knew from the surprise of the white sorceress that it had been instantly. At full speed Supergirl punched her on the right shoulder, forcing her to drop the scepter. As if the shadow girl was reading her mind, she teleported again, this time behind the woman and giving Supergirl a chance to kick her legs, making her fall. Kara quickly pressed her boot on her chest. "Don't get up."

"It looks like it'll have to be next time," the woman in white said, snapping her fingers and drawing the scepter to her hand. "This won't stay like this!"

Before Supergirl could hold her so she couldn't move, the stranger turned into a beam of light and disappeared. She quickly used her speed and super vision to search around her, but there was no sign of her. 'She moved at the speed of light, light powers.' A brief moment of frustration washed over her when she realized that she had escaped. 'I have to give Brainy all the details about that witch.'

Kara heard the stranger begin to sneakily walk away.

"Stop there," she said turning around, before she ran away too. "Don't go."

"Do you think she will?"

Part of her instinct told her that she had to be more careful with strangers, but what could she do? Retain her? Arrest her for no reason? Like so many other times, she had no choice but to hope for the best and that Acrata was not really one of the bad guys.

"Andrea," said Kara when she finally found her girlfriend, being checked by a nurse and sitting in a chair. The lower part of her face was covered in dried blood, and Kara felt her own blood boil when she realized that her nose had been broken. "What happened to you? Who did this to you?"

"Someone must have pushed me, I didn't see them," she said avoiding looking at her.

Kara wrapped her arms around her and stroked her hair in pure relief. She was not there to protect her. 'Idiot', she taught angrily. Something much worse could have happened to her.

"It's alright," said Andrea quietly, returning the hug. "I'm fine."

"I should have protected you. I'm so sorry," she said feeling her eyes moisten. "I'm sorry."

"Kara, it all happened too fast," she said firmly, her tourmaline eyes staring at her. "No one got injured and Supergirl took care of that witch. And honestly, I just want to go home now. The police can take care of the rest. Let's just go home, please."

for the past month, i haven’t slept at night. i usually fall asleep around 4-5am and wake up a lot basically until i haul my ass outta bed around noon. im constantly sick and tired and basically feel like shit because of this. but i cant. sleep. at night. i’ve been getting recurring nightmares about a, uh, sensitive subject that occurred when i was a little kid and still has me in those trauma vibes now. going back to georgia and seeing the person who caused that trauma, although briefly i think i was only in the same room as him for like an hour, still fucked me up. it was so surreal, to see my step dad after so many years of being safe from him, and him just acting like nothing was wrong. like he shouldn’t be in a fucking jail after what he did. but now im dreaming about it. seeing his face right up in mine, and doing the same shit he did when i was little. it scares the shit outta me. even when i wake up, it still feels real and i end up having a panic attack. which, at 2am after being asleep, thats not fun. i still wake up terrified, but its better when theres light. like, natural light that makes everything seem more real and safe. i dont know what to do about all of this. i dont want to keep reliving what happened, but i dont know how to make the dreams stop. so, not sleeping seems like the best option. i’ll drink tons of coffee and energy drinks before finally passing out, i’ll call people to distract myself, i’ve even taken walks at 3 in the morning just to keep myself awake. but its not really helping the dreams go away. its just making me sick and tired all the fucking time. i dont like going through my days like a zombie but i can’t really do anything else simply because i dont have the energy for it. im now kinda concerned because the dnd group imma bout to join is doing something at 2pm. like, prime im-doin-a-sleep hours. and i dont wanna be a lethargic mess but i can’t risk sleeping at night. this is fucking up what little of a life i have left. and im fucking tired, man. i dont wanna see him again. i just wanna sleep and not loose my shit.

Just last year in CA Medi-Cal (state medicaid) stop covering for dentistry and optometry for people over 21. The total cost of my dental braces is $4550. He had it removed and it hasn't come back but it there some sort of test for things like that?
