Itadaki High Jump 2023.09.16: Wherein Yamada Ryosuke talks about wanting to be in a film directed by Suda Masaki. The latter responds that he'd likely ended up filming Yamada's nose a lot (since Suda likes his nose) and getting Yamada dirty since he always looks so clean.

The Witch and the Beast #10 - Origin Witch

Shinji Itadaki makes his return on the Witch and the Beast #10 to prove that he is indeed one of the best storyboarders in the whole show. Although shading isn't typically attributed to storyboard artists, his episodes tend to exhibit a very unique shading style, thanks to meticulous attention to detail in his boards. This episode is one of the series' best since Phanora's arc thanks to him.

Also, Kana Hanazawa as Angela was sooooo good. The casting overall in this show has been great.

In my opinion, this ep serves as a great example of what a perfect episode of this show could be, despite encountering various production issues. The show's ideas and aesthetic are always mostly realized, but it's the production issues that bring the show down.

read Kamigami No Itadaki (the summit of the gods manga) and DAMN I loved it so much!! such a great story, and even though I know I'm never gonna do such an extreme sport, it made me really wish to see the mountains

anyway, I may have started to see the appeal of shipping the two main characters. oops. so in celebration of that here is Makoto wearing Habu's ex's turquoise. lol.

So, continuing adventures in Itadaki Street Portable:

Medal Princess has not been kind to me, but second does allow me to advance, so I've been sneaking on by on the success of these two bozos. The final map is the Ghost Train, which is one of my favourites.

And it starts off swimmingly. That 77 was followed up by someone getting Hocus Pocus "all Paper Shops are now Straw Shops"- an effect that basically means "all tiny shops expand to be worth 50G to land on", and increasing the stock prices in all the districts that I now happen to have stock in as well. Every payment gives me 10G regardless of to who. I'm on top of the world.

And climbing. 79, incidentally, is the best card at stealing that last property you need for a monopoly-

And I happened to have just the shop I needed.

What were the CPUs up to? Oh, Sephiroth's managed a big set over on the other side of the map, but I got my way into there first, just in case something big happened. And it did. Victory is assured.

And then Fran gets trapped on this side. This costs her all her stock and two properties.

Tempting, but I'll pass. I have what I need and more than enough to be getting on with.

...Slightly concerning, but not too much so. She's an AI, she'll make a lucky escape next move and will more or less by easy pickings later.

I don't really want Sephiroth getting these triples, but he's got the same bottlenecking issues I do, and I'm not paying that much for them. If he wants to pay, I'm happy to make him.

(He has paid so much that he still has to sell stock after getting 5% of his net worth for free from his Temple.)

...Uh, Fran, you were supposed to make a lucky escape and survive this lap.

So hey, that's the story of how I was poised to sweep this board, but Sephiroth stabbed Fran in the back to get out of having to suffer it. I did technically win (even if I didn't get very many trophies for Gil), but damn was that a very hilarious way to get a disappointing end.

For what it was worth, Maya was a very appropriate animation for this. Very "stay silly" energy.
