Sun in 8th House overlays
When the Sun is in the 8th house, there tends to be a strong magnetic pull and sexual tension between the individuals involved. This can lead the house person to feel obsessed with the planet person, while the planet person may become possessive of the house person. Despite their mutual attraction, they may suppress their feelings for each other, until they begin to reveal their respective dark sides.
⼠They suppress their feelings a lot, they may think that their attraction to each other is based solely on physical chemistry, but as they reveal their dark sides, they both prove to be open enough to accept each other's flaws.
⼠When the two are alone, they may also become very flirty with one another, enjoying the tension and excitement they bring to each other's lives.

Mercury in 8th House overlays
When Mercury is in the 8th house, they are keen on exploring the depths of communication. Their desire to connect with others often leads them to seek out meaningful and intense conversations that delve into mystical knowledge and secrets. They are deeply passionate and driven to fulfill their desires, and they often look to others to help them do so.
However, the house person may be a little hesitant to open up to others, especially at first. This can create a bit of tension between the planet person and the house person, as the latter may feel like they are not getting the level of connection they crave. But once the house person opens up, they will find that both are a great listener and communicator.
⼠They are not afraid to discuss sexual or taboo topics, and they have a knack for making others feel comfortable doing so as well. They tend to be very open-minded and non-judgmental, which allows for a space of trust and intimacy to develop. As a result, conversations can become very deep and personal, and can lead to a strong sense of connection and understanding between two.

Hey so I read your "What is a Romance" post and found it very informative so thank you lol. I was confused about one part tho:
Can a romance focus on a beta couple as well? Generally no. In American romance novels, authors do set up the couple for the next installment, but that is not quite the same as page time and development. Romances focus on one couple at a timeâonce that coupleâs love story is done, writers can move on to another coupleâs romance. Stories that have more than one couple tend to be something else entirely.
I wanted to know how this related to works like Much Ado About Nothing (Hero and Claudio) or Pride and Prejudice (Jane and Bingley) (though I suppose that last one is a marriage plot so it might not count anyway).. Isn't Much Ado About Nothing a romance that focuses on more then one couple?
I also wanted to know this because I'm working on a romance novel and there was a side couple that i wanted to give attention to.
âŚIâve been waiting for someone to ask this question, ha. Knowing all the while that Iâd have to give my very unpopular opinion. Well, here it is (and thanks for in advance for being the one to bring it up!)
So no, I donât categorize Much Ado About Nothing and Pride and Prejudice as romances, not so much because they have a beta couple, but because of their plots and thematic concerns. Much Ado is social comedy/satire and Pride and Prejudice is a wedding plot. Let me explain.
Much Ado About Nothing
Ah, Much Ado. I know people adore Beatrice/Benedick (ditto, theyâre great) and feel very uncomfortable with Hero/Claudio (with good reasons). But ultimately neither of these couples constitute a true romance. Their love in the play function as social satire/commentary on the battle of the sexes. Beatrice and Benedickâs respective sexism (Beatriceâs scorn for men and Benedickâs sexism toward women) make them refuse to entertain marriage/romance and shield their obvious attraction for each other. Ultimately, though, their sexism stems not from ideology, but from personal hurt feelings and/or insecurity, so the moment they hear that the other likes them, then they are eager to cast off their previous convictions. Shakespeare even hints that B&B had been a couple before, so their realization that they actually love each other is not really true romantic development. Claudioâs actual sexism, in the meantime, actually does lead him to reject Hero. Though framed as romance plots, these two strands are part of the satiric commentary on sexism and misogyny.
Pride and Prejudice
So yeah, Pride and Prejudice is almost purely a marriage plot. Austen sets up the stakes very early and very clearly: The Bennett sisters must marry or else their estate is entailed to their cousin. But wait! Elizabeth grows to love Darcy, right? She learns she was mistaken about him, right? Isnât that romantic development?
Well, no. Romantic development would entail mutual attraction on both sides, foiled by obstacles. While Darcy is canonically attracted to Elizabeth, Elizabeth doesnât even begin to catch feelings until after she realizes that Mr. Darcy was the victim in the Darcy-Wickham scandal and finding out he was the one who forced Wickham to marry Lydia. Oh, and seeing his beautiful estate Pemberley. đ Real romantic. Austen even lampshades this by having Elizabeth joke about it!
So yeah, that is not a romance between two people attracted to each other and struggling with their class hang-ups. This is story of a woman learning that this seemingly snobbish rich dude is actually not that bad once you get to know him and his ÂŁ10,000 a year manor home.
Yes, Austen was obviously inspired by Shakespeareâs Beatrice and Benedick subplot when she wrote Pride and Prejudice. But while Shakespeare focuses on sexism as the obstacle between these lovers (and the mutuality of their attraction), Austen replaces the sexism with classism and class resentment that both characters need to overcome. All well and good, but there is no more mutuality; Mr. Darcy starts to give her 𼺠from the second he notices her fine eyes while Elizabeth flirts with Wickham and still thinks he is a rich asshole for over half the book. Her change of heart is genuine and humbling, but it does not follow that she should start liking Mr. Darcy romantically. She actually doesnât until at least the Lydia affair.
The fact that Austen gave little consideration to romantic development (there are few if no courtship scenes between the two) leads me to conceive P&P as more of a marriage plot than a romance one. That is the true goal here, not the love. It is merely enough that Mr. Darcy is established as truly a worthy man to marry. Hence, a marriage plot.
(As for Jane/Bingley, it basically functions as 1) a softer iteration of the classism theme and 2) an obstacle to Elizabeth/Darcy. Again, a marriage plot, and not a romance either.)
#much ado about nothing#pride and prejudice#cristina metas#kaleb-is-definitely-sane#ask#cristina has an unpopular opinion#yeah this is going to go over well#but iâve never been convinced by elizabethâs love for darcy#homegirl was barely even bothered by her dislike of him#she only truly hated him when she learned what he supposedly did to wickham

Sorry I can't stop talking about that ex-mutual who went off on me last night (well really I only made that one, really long and rambly, pretty over-repetitive post about it) but it's been like just running through my mind because of how hurtful that was from someone that on some level I did consider a friend. Not like a close friend who knows everything about me, in fact as I stated to exhaustion in that post I made earlier, the part that really got me was how much they were illustrating that they DON'T really know about me, how much they just ASSUME without ever having heard or seen confirmation from myself. And how unkind those assumptions were. But I did like them (do? I still have sympathy for them as a person and don't wish them any ill...). I cherished the thought of our online friendship we shared around the time I was 18-20ish or so, and even if we never kept in constant conversation (in fact, before I replied to their message last night, we hadn't chatted through DM since early 2021, if that's saying something). I'm sure they still did/do feel that way about me and this isn't easy on them, that they feel hurt by my posts in some way, etc. I did not go on a rant to them, though, attacking their moral character, calling them a coward who can't take criticism and refuses to learn and grow. I told them I think it's ok if we grow apart and though I still hold my differing opinions from them, it's ok to be upset at me for that. But don't bring it to me.
I would've seriously just preferred it if they unfollowed and left. All I keep thinking about these past couple of hours of marinating on it is: entitlement. I've crossed a line because I don't post about issues in the way they would like me to, and ultimately I still will be voting for Kamala Harris. They maintained that much very firmly even after I replied to their first message saying that they were putting a bunch of words in my mouth and not acknowledging how little they actually know about my views and actions in the real world, off of Tumblr; that I might have ways of caring about and engaging with things that are specifically not on my personal blog because of how toxic some zealous communities on this website can grow to be. They still felt the need to attack me at length for all the things I, in their opinion, "support" because I choose to vote for "a fascist" (meaning Harris). Their opinion that both sides are truly the same is the only logical answer and I'm not trying hard enough to be a good person if I don't agree with that. But that's what makes them presumptuous. That's not what makes them entitled.
I feel like the fact that they really did think well of me at one point, that we shared emotions and kind words with each other, that we talked about music and poetry and all sorts of matters of sensibility together, is why they felt the need to bring that to me. When we feel an attachment to someone, even someone we may be lacking a lot of information about, but there's that mutual sympathy there... we feel that we are invested in them. They (and I) felt that the two of us, as friends, reflected each other's values and sense of self. To be honest I was getting annoyed at some of their posts, too, that were basically fatalist about the US Democratic party and how nothing has ever actually changed since Tr mp left office. I simply don't agree with that analysis, and I didn't know how to sensitively bring that up with someone who I did respect and care for as an individual. They were asserting things that basically implied our views were irreconcilable; and yeah, I basically agree that if you're going to call me essentially a g n cide apologist, I don't really know how to reconcile that with you. I don't think that's what I am; they do. They discussed that because they felt that way they were no longer open to a dialogue (one which I never had brought up to them personally) in their reply to my response to their ask, and blocked me afterward. Well, I think it's ok to not be open to a dialogue. In that case, I really don't know how to defend myself. We're on two entirely different levels of interpretation if mild support of Kamala Harris's presidential campaign is seen as akin to me denying g n cide to you. If that's the angle you're approaching me with, I don't want to have a dialogue with you, either. I don't think one in good faith is possible at that point.
They got angry at me though not just for my differing opinion, but for the disappointment they felt in me for it. I ruined the Diana they had so much respect for. Their initial message reminded me so much of when fans hound celebrities to speak on particular issues they may not know anything about. But at least if you're, like, asking the lead singer of your favorite band to speak about a currently topical issue, you probably are falling back on the argument of thinking they have a higher status to their audience that they're neglecting to use for good. Or maybe they've seemed to do and say things in the past that make their current silence seem hypocritical. I don't particularly agree with the former argument, that every celebrity should use their "platform" to raise awareness for certain causes. There are some times when I think calling on a celebrity to speak on this or that specific thing is just kind of silly. I tend not to proclaim instances where I feel that way publicly, because I don't want to trivialize the issue or the fans' feelings. But there's also the parasocial hurt I've seen some people display when they suddenly interpret a person's silence, or (in their perception) 'inadequate' statements and actions, as genuine indifference. That tends to make fans actually angry, the disappointment that this person they admire could be 'doing better' but isn't. I was told by this person that I'm 'not even trying to do better' when we had never had a conversation about what I'm actually 'doing' or thinking or feeling, even a single time. They let their impression of me fester in silent resentment before finally snapping at me about all the things I never actually said to them.
I'm sure they felt like they had reached their limit of tolerating me, and reaching out was only so they could feel like they had some closure. That they had said their piece to a person they cared about but could no longer associate with. I don't think they actually considered what use their message would actually have to me. That it would be hurtful to be accused of all these moral failings by someone I used to just talk about Jane Austen books with. Someone I shared my poetry and feelings with when I was younger. They must have been feeling 'betrayed' at me for not living up to the expectations and standards they set for me, for not being the idealized friend that I must've seemed when we were in our late teen years. But I am feeling shock and confusion at the sudden void of sympathy or benefit of the doubt being directed towards me from someone I once mutually regarded somewhat highly and rather affectionately.
It didn't have to have been a deep friendship, where we shared all aspects of our life with each other, for this to be hurtful to me or for my words to have been hurtful to them. I'm sure they felt so angry at me because they do think I'm a smart and sympathetic person that they expect 'better' from. But I'm really not your confirmation bias friend. None of the sweet but somewhat shallow memories they once respected me for has to be null and void now because I'm not sufficiently radical in my politics for them. And again, I do think that they were under the impression that they knew my current thoughts and personal philosophies a lot better than they do, because of how much more of an open book I used to be on this website when we first started following each other. I never made some announcement that I was going to start being more reserved about certain things, guys, so, like, don't act like you know everything about me. Because should I have to? I don't have a "platform" or really any meaningful social status on this website. But they still thought I wasn't doing "enough" with it because they interpret my blog as being more intrinsically linked to my actual life than it is. My social status to them was the good opinion they had of me, that I soiled by disagreeing with them in principle about electoral politics.
I'm not less smart or kind than I used to be. That's really not how I make sense of people I mostly like, but who have done or said something I deplore and that disappoints me deeply. You don't have to abandon all faith in the individuals you love. People do not always make sense with your own moral compass, but you can still tell when they're not evil. And I don't think they think I'm evil. I don't think they're evil. None of the sympathy I ever had for them is gone. I'm just honestly hurt and confused. I don't understand why they thought it was appropriate to take up their issues with me in the way that they did.
And again, in every single timeline, I would rather have just been disappointed to see that a once-respected mutual has unfollowed me, after some years of growing apart and changing, than I would to be hurt by someone dramatically going off on me about how they can't be friends with me anymore because I'm just not good enough for them.
#long post#tales from diana#i dont mean to keep making this about the election part of it bc honestly that's the stupidest thing going on here#my first post elaborated more on that but honestly i felt like i was over-emphasizing it#like yes i do hold my opinions still and they certainly have not been changed by the indecent handling of this incident from that person#i don't think their goal was really to change my mind though. just to tell me i had done some wrong#to them or at least to the good will they assumed in me.#they really talked to me as if i had let them down in some catastrophic way#but you know what's also a let-down? having your moral character assumed and attacked from someone you really valued#we talk so much about what we can tolerate in friends and acquaintances these days but i dont think thats really it#i dont know more about their real life situation than they know about mine but#i dont assume it's likely that they go around accusing everyone they know whos voting for harris like they did to me#there was something about their picture of me that was supposed to be 'better' and 'above it'#im sure in their actual life they tolerate those ppl better but for me it was just a step too far#and again i think thats just really where it's truly entitled#like because we were once adolescent bosom-friends that i can't have my own way of thinking and approaching global issues#that i have to downright make the same KINDS OF POSTS that they do (they really said that)#it's just bizarre. i know we didn't know each other THAT well but we know each other. to some extent#and i didn't think i deserved that from them. i honestly dont#i very consciously chose not to do the same thing back of painting the worst possible picture of them.#oh well. whatever... what an empty feeling i'm left with though

Unpopular opinion: Christians are not witches
I said it. Fight me.
There has been a trend that has been growing ever more problematic recently: overbearing, hyper-zealous, hyper-vigilant "acceptance" This means the pagan community is an absolute free-for all, and you are not allowed to so much as even feign the possibility that you do not agree with absolutely 100% of everything, lest you be named a gatekeeping, ignorant bigot.
Whether you like it or not - there ARE paths out there that have specific rules...regulations...stipulations...tenets - whatever the hell you want to call or classify them. End. Period. There's no other colour that comes in - that's it. Sorry for you, but they DO exist. In fact, there are many of them.
If you do not follow those rules, tenets, etc..., then you are not of that path. Point. Blank. And there is nothing wrong with that - it simply means that you are of some other path. That's it! That's all that means! It may be *nearly* identical to the path in question - but it is not, hence the 'nearly'.
If you happen to be a part of one of these paths, there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying so. If someone claims to be a part of one of these paths, but are absolutely, blatantly not - there is nothing wrong with saying that, and explaining why that is. Some people just honestly don't know there is a difference, or that these certain prerequisites are indeed a definitive factor - so they learn something, they broaden their horizons. Everyone seems to be all about educating themselves about being sensitive to other cultures and customs - except the pagan community, apparently, because this mentality does not translate across that pagan/witch line. Instead of taking it as a learning experience, you are immediately pounced on with notions of 'there are no rules!' 'you can't tell someone what to do on their own path!' Or, simply, the name calling. Well yes, while all of that is true - it still remains that how ever you want to practice or whatever you personally decide to do, may just simply not be what you are claiming, or calling it. It may just be semantics - but semantics matter when dealing with nuance. And paganism is extremely nuanced.
You can call a tomato an orange all you want to - but that thing will never be an orange, no matter how much you believe in it. And people are not wrong for informing you that you may have the wrong name, that is in fact, a tomato. If you go on deciding to call it an orange, you can do that - but that is willful ignorance. So, in your fight to be unapologetically accepting of every ridiculous notion, you are perpetuating willful ignorance - whilst being directly in opposition of your goal and being, *GASP*, unaccepting to those who follow a path where distinction and definition matters. You are completely invalidating those people's paths and beliefs while trying to defend another's (another who may, in fact, actually be wrong) and actively using their path & beliefs as the very reason to berate and ostracize them. Pretty fantastically hypocritical of you. Now...on to the second problem. I do not, at all, in any form, believe in "ritual magick" - as perpetuated by Aleister Crowley hardons. And no, that is not a knock on Crowley, just the idiot followers that don't understand half of what he taught and latch onto the superficial.
When you look at the origins and make up of magical beliefs, and magic itself as a separate entity - no matter which particular branch - they were all created by religion. They all have roots in highly spiritual cultures and customs. So, I absolutely do not believe for one second that you can believe in magic without SOME form of religion - whatever one you adhere to is your choice, but you cannot have the first without the latter. You cannot. Even if you claim that you have no religion, or spiritual faith, your practices absolutely do. You are calling on elements and agencies that absolutely have divine ties and connections one way or another. Oh, how many atheists I see calling on the seals of Arch Angels.... are you fucking shittin me? Really?? So let's bring it all together now - with the fact that many faiths DO have prerequisites, AND the fact that magic is religious/spiritual -- Christians are not, and cannot be witches or pagans. They are mutually exclusive. Not only because so many various paths have such prerequisites, and very define religious/spiritual beliefs that are contradictory to others - but simply because Christianity DOES, very much, have very clear and stringently defined Do's & Don'ts, and obviously the religious aspect itself clashes with the religious beliefs of others. Their religious beliefs clash with people who believe in their same god - so how could they not with those who believe in other gods?? Considering this, no other path would even need such stipulations themselves for them to be mutually exclusive, as Christianity already covers that issue so completely, but the fact that so many pagan paths do only exacerbates an already existing problem. That being said - that does not mean you cannot believe in the Christian 'god', by whatever name you know him by - or that you cannot believe in Jesus, and also be a witch or pagan. In fact the latter has an even bigger argument for believing in both, as paganism, generically, in itself is polytheistic, so it is very fitting to simply have the Christian god and Jesus amongst the many deities being worshipped. But those two things alone is not what makes Christianity. A good start, yes, but that is not all it takes - in fact, there are many that are shunned, excommunicated, banned, condemned and moreso whilst having those very two qualifying factors. You can find this in *every single* sect of Christianity, so...the proof is in the pudding, as they say, that it is much more than simply believing in 'God' and Jesus that makes a 'Christian'. And if you take that to heart and follow all those rules - you cannot be a witch or pagan, many times over, as you would be in direct opposition, or violation, of a number of their teachings - both on the aspect of simple 'rules', but also on a much deeper spiritual level of the entire foundation of their faith. Cannot serve two masters, and all that... If you do not follow those rules, then sure, you could be a witch or a pagan - but then you cannot be a Christian. That is just the facts.
Many people like to argue the use of magic and mysticism in the bible - but the issue is what parts of the bible they are found, and all the amendments of the further books. Again, what really carves out being a Christian vs. any of the other sects of Abrahamic beliefs. As, news flash - there is far more than just Christianity. And some of them, do, in fact, do hand in hand with magic. The Kabbalah is an astounding example of that - and, in fact, where a lot of the so called *ahem* 'non'-religious 'ritual magick' comes from. In this same vein, I would like to note that I have never had any issue or seen conflict with the Hebrew or Jewish take on shamans, mystics and witches, as they really do go hand in hand - They have their own very in depth, detailed, spiritual and sentimental form of mysticism that was a natural progression from pre-Abrahamic religions and culture, and grew into their teachings and belief system, so it does not go against their core beliefs the same way it very stringently does in Christian theology. Considering their ethnical histories and cultural heritage - this is a brilliant example of the natural evolution and progression of faiths - not simply ripped from the hands of the brutally oppressed and rewritten as a mockery to wipe out the preexisting notion of faiths -- as the Church has a history of doing. The Book of Enoch is another shining example of Biblical magic, or Angelic magic. But, this also also turns my point into a self fulfilling prophecy, as in the fact that it is accepted amongst all denominations as heresy, and it is taught that these magics - though they do, in fact, exist, were for the angels and completely forbidden from mankind. So, thusly, if you are a follower of Enoch, you are not a 'Christian', by name and membership, as you are outright going against it's teachings. You are a heretic, a blasphemer. Perhaps you may be one of the many other forms of the Christian god's followers - but not a Christian, as being Christian denotes a very specific set of beliefs and tenets - end of story. Magic, and paganism, is in direct conflict with those teachings, and therefore, cannot coexist.
On top of the logic - there is also the emotional issue. Christianity has a long history of abuse towards various pagan, tribal and indigenous faiths, while stealing our beliefs as their own, and demonizing those they couldn't successfully acclimate into theirs. To now be expected to be OK with this faith, yet again, latching on to *our* sacred rites and practices as being a part of their own is a hard pill to swallow at best, a slap in the face to most, and flat out perpetuating trauma at worst. Once upon a time, people sought out these very same communities and groups within their pagan circles as an escape, a safe space, and a shield and guardian against the Christian onslaught, torment, oppression, or just exhaustion - and now, we must not only tolerate them invading our private spaces, but must now welcome them with open arms and expected to be happy about it? Forgive me if I don't sympathize....
If we are going to now be forced into being shoulder to shoulder with them, the very least you can offer us is neutrality. You can be accepting of all and still be neutral grounds - not taking any one side anywhere, all you have to do is be respectful to each other. Disagreement is not disrespectful. Could someone who disagrees with a certain viewpoint *become* disrespectful? Sure, of course they could. But simply the act of disagreement is nothing hateful or hurtful in any way shape or form - in fact, good discourse is how progress is made. So we need to remain neutral grounds and normalize the acceptance of different viewpoints - we need to recognize and accept that, yes, there are paths out there that do have specific requirements, expectations and limits - there are paths that are going to disagree, or just flat out not believe in something. Instead of name calling, when someone of those paths decides to speak up and enlighten and elaborate on information that may be inaccurately described or depicted, you need to LISTEN and learn, and not just bludgeon them with presumptive judgement. You also need to accept that there are many, various different closed practices out there - beyond Native American & Voodoo practices (as those seem to be the only ones the pagan community recognizes) and if someone of those closed faiths tell you - no, you are not xy or z, that is also not being judgmental or hateful or hurtful - that simply is. ....a very important side note here is that acknowledging closed practices is also not a carte blanche for screaming about cultural appropriation. Please shut the fuck up about cultural appropriation. Not being of a specific faith is not equivalent to cultural appropriation - Telling someone "no, you're not xyz" is very different from telling someone "no, you can't practice xyz" (looking at you smudge-Nazis) You can enjoy, practice, learn or celebrate anything you want of any faith you want while not actually being apart of it - that's the beauty of sharing and learning. And I think that is where all the trouble boils down from:
Yes, you can do whatever you want and can create whatever path you want for yourself...just don't misrepresent it, don't call it something it is not, and don't deny those who are more educated & experienced in that particular department. We get enough of that from outsiders to start doing it to each other.

A Brief And Concise Summary Of Is Wrong With The ACOTAR Series
I think we can agree that a lot of ACOTAR is pretty iffy. Consider this a very brief refresher.
What's Wrong With Feyre/Rhysand (juxtaposed against Feyre/Tamlin)
Rhysand drugs and sexually assaults her in Book 1
This is "for her own good". Because he "has no choice". Despite the fact that, from what we know of the plot, Amarantha thinks that Clare Beddor was the one Rhysand was diddling, and is only interested in Feyre because Rhysand, "her" man male, has taken an interest in her.
If we extrapolate from this we can figure that Rhysand is the one directly putting her into danger.
Now, let's be clear: drugging someone is bad. Sexually assaulting someone is bad. One could argue there were extenuating circumstances. But if, in such a situation, what your mind goes to is "I know, I should assault this person... for their safety" I have questions about your moral qualities. There were a million things he could have done. He could have done whatever he did to Clare - that is, remove her ability to feel any pain - easily. He could have helped her escape. Under The Mountain, he - while still there unwillingly - has a lot of power, as Amarantha's side piece. Maybe this would have resulted in him being punished- however, he is hundreds of years old and a badass motherfucker, and she is a nineteen year old human girl.
Now, onto Tamlin. Obviously not a lot of people really ship F/T anymore after ACOMAF, because compared to F/R, it's boring. I read another person's post about it, which was very enlightening: they said that Feyre's personality is essentially a mirror. When she is with Rhysand, she's snarky and malicious- because she is "bouncing off" his energy. When she's with Mor she's super feminist and "in awe of her strength". On the other hand, Tamlin is kind of an empty character. He's a pretty boy with anger issues, which should be more interesting than it is. SJM manages to make him bland. Because Feyre has nothing to bounce off of, (a lot of this is from the person's post), she and Tamlin together is mainly just him introducing her to his world.
What Tamlin Does: prevents a skinny twenty year old from going on dangerous missions with him and combat-trained soldiers, accidentally blows up a room with her in it, and, at the end, prevents her from leaving the house.
This is not a Tamlin apologist post. Obviously it was really fucking gross of him to do that, and their relationship was toxic. However, a lot of his abuse stems from their inability to communicate, as well as own negligence. He does not knowingly and purposefully sexually assault her or rape her mind. And tbh, leaving a girl without combat training at home while he goes on missions with a bunch of muscled sentries is... kind of reasonable?
Again: not a Tamlin apologist post. It was abuse. However, if Rhysand is "allowed" to sexually assault, mind-rape, and drug Feyre "for her own safety", why is Tamlin demonized for preventing her from leaving his mansion "for her own safety"?
Another pertinent point: Rhys is never punished for sexually assaulting her. It is brushed off as part of his "mask" or that his hand was forced. Jesus Christ my dudes, his hand was not forced under her skirt. If he has to maintain his gross rapist abuser tyrant oppressor mask... why? Who did that benefit beside him? None of his actions remotely helped Prythian. They were done solely for his buddies - five people safe in a rich hidden city - and no one else, which is explicitly stated.
Finally, the power dynamic is fucked up. Feyre is less than twenty five years old. Rhysand is 500. There is a tendency in fantasy romance to romanticize a centuries year old man with a young girl, because the man does not show symptoms of age, and so it is easily ignorable. However, can we just briefly acknowledge how fucked up it is? Rhys is over five times older than Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, and other known predators/abusers. She is twenty. That is really fucking gross. She is in a vulnerable position and he takes rampant advantage of that.
If he had wrinkles, liver problems, and erectile dysfunction, more people would acknowledge it.
Let's be clear: I'm not saying writing a book with an uneven power dynamic is automatically bad. For example, in The Locked Tomb series, which is in my opinion THE BEST FANTASY SERIES THAT HAS GRACED THIS EARTH (lol i'm starting fires), one main character Harrowhark Nonagesimus is in a position of power over Gideon Nav, the other main character. However, this is not glossed over or romanticized. Gideon resents Harrow for this- there is a relationship of mutual antagonism, fraught with unwilling familiarity and intimacy from growing up together. They are roughly the same age. While there is a certain power dynamic (in that world, there is a dynamic of necromancer and cavalier, i.e. sorcerer and sword) the "empowered" character (Harrow) emphatically respects her and does not abuse this power, although both would of course deny this, and she does make a show of threatening and being aloof. In short, while Gideon obeys her, Gideon also has power over Harrow, and the idea of what is essentially slavery is not romanticized.
Feyre Doesn't Face Any Consequences For Her Own Actions
Let me present a radical notion: a guy preventing you from leaving his house does not justify completely fucking ruining his country and harming the people inside it.
In other words: Tamlin does not deserve what she did to him.
I know that sounds iffy. We're conditioned to think that if someone is an abuser, then they are the scum of the earth, they deserve to die, torturing/murdering/doing anything to them is completely A-OK. However, here's another radical notion: someone harming you does not justify you doing worse.
Obviously, the effects of psychological abuse can cause you to hurt other people (see: Nesta), but Feyre deliberately and maliciously (oh, God, that insufferable POV of her in Spring Court; she reads like a cartoonish Disney villain) dismantles his country. She uses sexual manipulation (Lucien), torture (causing the sentry to be whipped), and mind-rape (who didn't she do this to? lol).
A summary of the entire first half of ACOWAR: "It smelled like roses. I hated roses. For this capital offense against my olfactory system, Tamlin and the entire Spring Court deserved to burn in hell. I knew exactly what I was doing. I smiled at him sweetly: no longer a doe, but a wolf. He didn't see my fangs.............." *aesthetic noises*
Man. I'm starting to think SJM had a horrible experience at a Bath & Body Works and took it out on the rest of us. Don't do it, Sarah!! I know Pink Chiffon and Triple Berry Martini are way too strong, but don't take it out on an innocent population!!
She steals from Summer Court (there are, yk, other solutions to theft. Like maybe asking politely) and ruins Spring Court. Her boyfriend - yeesh sorry, MATE - does nothing while a dozen Winter Court children are murdered.
Now: moral ambiguity is not automatically bad. Again using The Locked Tomb as an example, in the second book (spoiler alert), Harrowhark has a sort of moral ambiguity. She was raised from the beginning to worship the King Undying as God, and so she obeys him without question. Because of this, she commits a lot of crimes in His name: she "flips" - i.e. kills - the life force of planets, and she plots murder (albeit the murder of someone who tried to kill her first). There is no attempt to justify this. There is also no attempt to paint her as a virtuous and yet also badass Madonna figure. She is desperate, plagued with the "wreck of herself", and the book clearly displays her moral pitfalls. While her POV is of course colored by her mindset, it also is limited by her lack of information, and we as readers can acknowledge that.
BACK TO ACOTAR: Feyre is seen by everyone as gorgeous, formidable, and essentially perfect. Rhys sees her as flawless, "made for him", wonderful, beautiful, blah blah blah. (THEY ARE SO BAD FOR EACH OTHER; THEY EXCUSE AND GLORIFY EACH OTHER'S CRIMES, IT'S SO BAD, GUYYYS). Tamlin is insanely batshit in love with her, or whatever. To the Night Court she's the High Lady. In this way she personifies the Mary Sue character. (Excerpt from the TV Tropes page on Mary Sues: "She's exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye color, and has a similarly cool and exotic name. She's exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws â either that or her "flaws" are obviously meant to be endearing. She has an unusual and dramatic Back Story. The canon protagonists are all overwhelmed with admiration for her beauty, wit, courage and other virtues, and are quick to adopt her as one of their True Companions, even characters who are usually antisocial and untrusting; if any character doesn't love her, that character gets an extremely unsympathetic portrayal." Sound familiar?)
There is the Ourobous scene. And yet, paradoxically, while presented as an acknowledgment of her flaws, it is in fact a rejection of them. She sees her own brutality... and instead of recognizing that she has these deep, deep moral flaws and realizing that she needs to grow and be better, she in fact "accepts" them.
Guys: Self love means: "I'm important to me, so I'm going to get a massage today after work", or "heck, why not splurge on some expensive lotion, you only live once" or "you know what? I had a tough day today. I'm going to get that strawberry cupcake". SELF LOVE DOES NOT MEAN "oh, I accept all the war crimes I have done, I love myself". LOVING YOURSELF DOES NOT MEAN ABSOLVING YOURSELF OF ALL WRONGDOING.
It's this refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing that is so grating about ACOTAR. It's so goddamn one-sided. And you can tell that after Book 1, SJM decided to completely change the trajectory simply because of how jarring Book 2 reads compared to the first one.
Also: Feyre is a very, very young girl (compared to the other ruling fey) who did not know how to read for the majority of her life. She has no experience whatsoever in politics. Her being High Lady is not a win for feminism.
Rhysand: He Sucks
First, he is 500 years old. He should be written as such, not as some 20 year old virile frat boy feminist. Fantasy is all the more compelling for its elements of realism, which is a concept that SJM does not appear to grasp.
Second of all, his morals are absurd. He is written as the Second Coming of Christ, as someone who can do no wrong, ever, and his flaws only serve to make Feyre love him more. Anything shitty he does is written as part of his "mask" and she can See Beneath It and knows that it "hurts" him to maintain this "mask".
Fellas, WHY DOES HE HAVE TO MAINTAIN THIS MASK???? There is no reason for it. If A) he does not give a shit about Court of Nightmares (we'll get back to that), only about Velaris, and B) Velaris is hidden/protected from the world, what is he pretending for?
It would not hurt him politically to be seen as someone who cares about his country.
"Pretending" to be "Amarantha's whore" does not in any way shape or form benefit the macro-world that is Prythian. In Amarantha's name, he commits atrocities. He commits war crimes; he systemically oppresses entire societies. It doesn't even really benefit Velaris, because Velaris is already hidden.
Let me put this in a real-world perspective. This would be like if Donald Trump was suddenly like: "I know I was a shitty president but IT WAS ALL PART OF MY MASK, WHICH WAS TO PROTECT THIS MICROCOSM OF PRIVILEGED PEOPLE THAT I CARE ABOUT". Like: okay? Sorry, or whatever, but I don't actually give a shit. What about the parents of the children who died? What about Clare Beddor? What about the people who were held in slavery, murdered, tortured?
Rhysand: omg it sucks that my cousin Mor was oppressed by this toxic misogynistic culture from the Court of Nightmares.
Also Rhysand: lol whatever, who gives a shit about Court of Nightmares. They all suck. They meanie. Lol what did you say? That there might be other girls just like Mor who are oppressed by this system? Lol whatever. I can't do anything, I gotta maintain my Mask. I gotta sit on this throne and show the entire Court that not respecting women is completely okay.
In summary: by parading Feyre around as his "whore" (!!) he demonstrates by example that it is completely okay for the Court of Nightmares to abuse their women.
A good ruler cares about all his people. Rhysand cares about a tiny tiny fraction of his people: those who were fortunate enough to be born into Velaris.
God, I'm exhausted. Onto Nesta:
The only character who successfully breaks the Mary Sue effect Feyre exerts on her people is Nesta. Her POV for the first half is a joy to read.
Obviously it sucks that Nesta was a huge bitch to Feyre for the beginning of her childhood. However, it was wrong for Rhysand to threaten her- he is a man male with a huge insane amount of power, and it is not okay for him to threaten to bring the brunt of it down on a young girl because she was a bitch to his girlfriend.
I've seen a lot of discourse on the morality of F/R sending her out of Velaris. Here is my two cents:
It was okay for them to cut her off of their money. If they don't want to enable her self-harm, that is their choice. Again, it's their money, even if it wasn't fairly earned (Rhysand born into an enormous fortune).
It was not okay for them to banish her from Velaris with the implication that she was an embarrassment. Let me explain.
If Rhysand and Feyre are talking to her as sister/brother-in-law, then that is that. They have the complete right to express disapproval and try to help. However, they should not be using their royal privilege against her.
If they are talking to her as ruler to subject, then they have the power to banish her from the city. However, a ruler would not give a shit about a random subject getting drunk and having sex. So, they should not be talking her about her problems as a ruler to subject.
I've heard it compared to her being sent to rehab. However, rehab is a system designed to help people with certain problems. It has specialized medical centers and involves therapy. Nesta gets her life threatened multiple times. It is not rehab.
In summary: why did SJM inflict this upon us. Throne of Glass was actually good! GAHHH! After the first few books she completely whipped around and introduced the idea of males and mates and fey and that C is actually A and the quality took a huge nosedive. Sigh.
Final horrible but unmistakable truth: The entire ACOTAR series reads like a bad A/B/O fic. I hate to say it but it's true. We're lucky there were no heat cycles. OH WAIT

â hĂŞ ĂĂŞmĂ°Ăą (the beauty of sin)
đđđđđđđ: You're a guardian angel who's never been tasked with protecting anyone. Since you've been here since Creation, sitting around in heaven hasn't brought you any rewards. You were looking forward to the day when you'd be assigned a human to look after. When that day finally arrives, things take an unexpected turn when you are assigned to Heeseung, a demon from the underworld.
đđđđđđđ:Â heeseung x female reader
đđđđđ: angst, suggestive/smut
đđđđ đđđđđ: 4k
đđđđđđđđ: profanity, smut scenes, bad boy heeseung (lol),Â

âł part of the drunk & dazed series
â Ň â˘â
âŁ
Sin is a spiritual virus that invades the whole being. It makes you morally and spiritually weak. Itâs a deadly disease that infects every part of you: your body, your mind, your emotions, and your motivesâabsolutely everything. Nobody has the strength on their own to overcome its power.
Nobody should ever commit sin, never giving in to their worldly and sinful impulses. It's unjust and wrong. However, what is it about sin that makes it so fascinating and enjoyable?
It gave you joy to see it in his smile or the way his hands caressed your body. What a lovely thing sin is!
Even though some sins are innocent and enjoyable, sometimes regulations are supposed to be broken. Everyone, after all, is a sinner.
âWHAT!?,?â You began to sweat as you worriedly communicated your concerns to your overseer, âYou must be mistaken, High Lord.â
âI understand the protocol; angels are supposed to serve as "guardian angels" to beautiful or broken souls on Earth. You know we're expected to look after them and keep an eye on them to make sure they stay on track. With all due respect, ma'am, I don't believe I'm qualified for this position; at the very least, someone of level 10 would be ideal.â
Her cream-colored wings swept her off her feet as she chuckled and waved for you to follow her. You sighed as you flutter up and away with her, trailing behind her, feeling a twitch in yours.
As you eventually caught up to her, dodging angels left and right, you apologized to random angels in your path, uncomfortably smiled at the people you bumped into with your wings.
You retracted your wings closer to you and walked uneasily beside your overseer as you carefully stepped down on the golden road.
Before you could say anything, she quietly took your hand in hers and gently kissed it, assuring you that everything would be alright. As you approached the center of the commotion, you bit your lower lip and remained silent.
Looking around at the community, it warmed your heart to see so many people, young and old, out here. Some you've known since the beginning of time, while others were born only last week. Everyone had gathered to witness the masterpiece that would emerge in an instant.
âYou know Y/N I have complete faith in you that this first expedition will be a breeze,â you smiled, looking up at her with excitement and a tinge of fear in your eyes. âWe wouldn't have suggested you for the job unless we knew who you really are, and you've earned it.â Don't worry, you were expecting this; now have a look.â
With her finger pointing to the stage forward, you were treated to yet another spectacular show. They're known as the "Grand Turning" in Heaven. This is where a new or seasoned angel has completed his or her training with a human or demon and earned their proper place in the community.
It could be a badge, a ribbon, or something more unique, such as the opportunity to talk with the all-powerful, our God.
Despite the fact that you were assigned to him, you were determined to get those jobs because they were the only way for you to ever get that honor. You weren't going to allow Mr. Unperfect take away that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Nobody could and will ever be able to make you fail this assignment; you were meticulously prepped. You were taught the correct and only way to do things, and now was your opportunity to shine. You were not going to be a Lucifer, cast from Heaven
âI'll do it,â you said to your supervisor, a smile on your face and confidence in your eyes. She turned to face you and hugged you passionately, rubbing your wings with a motherly devotion.
âI knew you could do it; now it's time to get you ready.â
---
When people have a near-death experience, they always remark that life flashes before their eyes. Unfortunately for angels, it's the contrary; when we're approached with a high-alert danger or warning, it's more of a gentle whisper in our ears. Normally more attentive while traveling to Earth.
The best place to be humans say.. What is with these fickle minded words?
You take a deep breath and turn to face your overseer, who is polishing her wings to ensure that they are kept in order. When having wings, a routine is taught from the beginning to keep them in a good up do. Nobody wants to look simple when you can look stunning.
She took your hand in hers and walked toward the end of the route, issuing some documents to the Pearl City Gate guards. You noticed the circular orb while glancing around.
"How can some humans believe in the world being flat, we literally have an air-like view. To me, it's definitely round.â She chuckled as she pinched your cheeks and turned your puzzled face to her.
âWhen you get down to earth, you'll see a lot of that, people with a lot of opinions. But what did you learn in your training?â
Standing up and smoothing your wings, you calmly shouted out the words as if they were written on the back of your palm.
âAlthough humans are the destroyers of their own precious planet, everyone's opinion matters, regardless of race, gender, or identity.â
âWell, not all,â you began scratching your head, âI've seen some harsh individuals in our study books, God should strike them down-â
âUm no ma'am, let us put it aside for the time being and focus on what needs to be done.â She started going over a list of laws and regulations for your descent to Earth. As you gave her a thumbs up, you were attentively listening and mentally bookmarking everything in their designated area.
I believe I have a good understanding of everything, and I think I am prepared.â She offered you a short hug before letting you go, showing her affection for you. You were going to miss her, despite the fact that it was a mutually-surface relationship.
âLast but not least, this ordeal will be different in that people will be able to see you. But if you have to use your wings, the lad is the only one who can see you. When you arrive, he will be waiting for you. My child, best of luck and may God bless you.â
You let go of her and moved toward the road's edge, gripping your bag as you turned to face her and waved farewell as you stepped over the brink.
âWait a minute, what if-â
When you felt a push from behind, you tumbled off the ledge and spun around in the sky, where you saw a smiling face as you glanced up. They didn't tell you that you'd have to be pushed. As you plunged to Earth, you closed your eyes, terrified. Oh, how nice.
Screaming, you descended into the atmosphere, your narrowed eyes seeing glimpses of land here and there. Not letting up you let your wings cover your whole body as you plopped down onto soft green grass.
You peered out from your wings, gasping for air, and glanced up.
âOh, Heavensâ
His physique was slender, active, and well-groomed, with a trace of bad boy behavior in his scent. The first thing that struck your eye were the rips in his jeans. How could a man-made mistake seem to be so appealing? As you raised your eyes, you noticed tattoos splattered across his arms and up to his neck. His black velvet-like wings fluttering in the breeze, he raised his palm to his hair and stroked through the old curls, deconstructing the pattern they had once formed.
âDid you just pull a Lucifer or was this all planned?â he coughed as he put out his hand to you, taking a good look at you.
Stuttering in your words you quickly got up and patted yourself off and finally looked him in the eyes, noticing his dark eyes.
âWell, that wasn't supposed to happen, I hoped to fly down here and appear more Angel-like, but I think my overseer had other ideas.â
He said, "Ah," with a bored expression on his face.
âMy name is Heeseung, and if you don't mind, I assume you don't.â I guess my name is well-known in Heaven. You're probably the fifth Angel who has appeared in the last year to âassist me.â What a load of bullshit; you can't hide what's already there, you know.â
He made a pouty look as he smirked closer to you before covering his hand with his mouth and saying, âoh forgive me, I suppose I have a potty mouth.â
Panicking at this new light, you smiled and coughed loudly and suddenly, âBefore you say anything else, I'd want to inform you that I'm not like those angels we don't talk about. I have a holy standard that I adhere to.
He rushed to your face, rolling his eyes at your innocence, and murmured to you, "well see about that little Ms. Purity."
As you moved back and shook your head, spurring out prayers, you tugged the strings of your bag close to you, seeming irritated. Looking up, you noticed him hovering in mid-air with his arms crossed, waiting for you.
âWhether you're coming or not, I'm in the mood for a cup of coffee. Allow me to go fetch you one so that this whole ordeal between us may be over soon and we can both return to our respective worlds.â
You instantly snap open your wings and shot up into the sky, scoffing at his rudeness, and dash by him, racing to the left.
âIt's this way, dummy,â he cackled as he immediately shot out. Embarrassed and annoyed, you flipped over to his side and flew alongside him, praying to the Lord for peace as your rage subsided.
âLord, so help meâ
---
âSo, what's on the agenda, Ms. Purity? There are a lot of things I'd want to do with you. You know, if you just ditch this whole act, we might be able to have some fun. He winked at you as he sipped his drink while peering across the table.
You shook your head and chuckled, gagging at his remark, "You must get all the girls, you appear really, what's the word, competent" I'm astonished since I assumed everyone down under was inept.â
He smirked and crossed his legs as he lay startled in his chair, cocking his head to the side. It's not that you were trying to be mean; it's just what you were taught. There are no hard feelings.
âWell, as much as I'd like to keep this delightful little date going, I have a commitment to fulfill. You know, duty calls.â You quickly got up and hurried after him, confused as to where he was going, as he shot up in the air and chuckled, waving farewell to you.
âWait, Heeseung, you can't just go away like that. We need to figure out how I'm going to find you. You're being impolite by getting up and leaving.â You made yourself look insane since you didn't realize no one could see him. You wouldn't want to be labeled as one of these Earthlings.
You beckoned him down, mentally terrified, âPlease can you just come down for a damn second.â Your jaw dropped as you hurriedly covered your mouth. Heeseung's jaw dropped when he appeared in front of you, stunned.
âGasp, I'm hearing a term I'm sure they don't say in Heaven. Hmm, I suppose the Earth changes people.â He went closer to your ear, his warm arm bouncing on your skin as he giggled, his lips inches away from yours.
âI've already entered my phone number into your phone; you do understand what a phone is, right?â Doesn't matter, I have to get somewhere, and you can locate me later. Okay, I'll see you later.â He swept up in the air and rushed over to the bridge as he vanished into the horizon, rushing out in a haste once more.
You sat back in the coffee chair, wiped your brow, and focused mentally and spiritually, pleading with the Lord for help and forgiveness. You had a feeling this mission was going to be a disaster.
Whining, you threw your hands in the air and sat face down on the table, groaning as you realized this trek. It's no surprise that these honors are well-deserved; it takes a lot of effort.
You cautiously lifted your head and faced the barista after hearing a soft tap on your table. She smiled at you as she set down a piece of paper. You scowled as you inspected the weird set of paper.
âWhat a jerk, he didn't just leave me to pay for both drinks.â With a shake of your head, you reached inside your bag and drew out a wallet. Your overseer informed you that many people like flaunting and spending their money, so she provided some for you just in case.
As you cleaned up, you began to mentally map out your route through town, mentally picturing the locations and navigating your way home. As you walked over to the cashier, you handed her some money and thanked her before heading out the door.
At the very least, you landed in a fantastic location. It was in the heart of South Korea, and the city was called Seoul, a wonderful metropolis to be sure. You were taught to master specific languages for specific tasks, so communicating wasn't a problem. Despite the fact that you were new in a strange place, you were determined to make the most of it. The first step was to return home and examine the situation.
How to manage Lee Heeseung.Â
Arriving at your small abode was an adventure in itself; it didn't take long for you to connect your GPS and get going. It was actually fairly pleasant and provided a change of scenery to enjoy. It's not quite Heaven, but it's still lovely. When you finally arrive at your destination, you look up to see a little, charming apartment in front of you.
They really went all out for you, and it's very much in your style. You'd felt right at home as soon as you stepped inside, as it was more modern and sophisticated.
To be honest, you had no idea what you were doing, but it felt good to have your own little place to do anything you wanted. You could get used to this, no wonder why humans never leave their house. Who would want to leave when you have everything here. Food, entertainment, and a BALCONY!!
As you finished exploring the apartment and basked in its magnificence, you laughed to yourself as you made your way to the couch, sinking into its coziness as sleep took over your mind and body.
*Crunch, thud, bang*
As you lurched forward, you flew up your wings in defense mode, trying to understand what you'd heard.
âWho's there? I have a weapon, and I'm not afraid to use it.â
When you hear a familiar giggle, you look up and see the attractive intruder. Walking over to you and snatching the pillow from your grasp he took your hand and pulled you over to the island where he had prepared some food.
As you took it all in, you smelt familiar scents and smiled, completely forgetting about it until you were reminded again.
âWait, what are you doing in my apartment, and how did you get in?â
He began to remove some pots and pans from the stove while he placed some food on a platter, saying, "I have my methods."
âI'm not sure what you eat up there in Heaven, but I'm guessing it's all healthy and nutritious food.â You laughed and shook your hand in disbelief while shaking your head.
âI donât think out of all places we would be eating so strictly. It's basically whatever you can get your hands on.. It's guaranteed to be better food than what you'll find in Hell.â
Pulling the dish away from him, you began to pick at the fries, popping one into your mouth and savoring the flavor, ânot bad.â
He bowed in front of you, wiped the sweets from his brow, and returned to sit next to you, grabbing a dish and feeding himself some. As the night progressed, you told him the rundown for the next three months.
âSo, despite the fact that you're definitely one of the worst jerks I've ever encountered. For this to function, we'll need to create certain ground rules.â Aiming a finger between you and him. âI'm not sure whether you've ever had to do anything for anyone else in your life, but it's all about serving people around here, and that's why I accepted this assignment. Even if you don't want to help yourself, I want to help you.â
As Heeseung shuffled around in his chair, avoiding eye contact with you, the atmosphere became tense.
âHarsh, but keep going.â
Smiling you continued as you tried to wrap your head around this complex creature.
âI understand that we are supposed to protect and guide you to do good, but it appears that we have progressed far beyond that, and we need to start at the source of your problem, which is most likely your heart or mind. What's going on in both?
As his words danced across your lips, he smirked and drew you closer to him.
âNow there's a secret.âÂ
Smirking as your face felt warm, you cocked your head to the side and touched his shoulder before getting up and setting your dish in the sink, cleaning up as piercing eyes stabbed your back.
âI understand what you're thinking, and I've got it all under control.â
He approached you and said, "If you say so," as he put his head against your ear.
2 months laterÂ
Everything was certainly out of hand, and he was to blame. Your strategy not only failed, but it was only a matter of time until your overseer found out. And you didnât want to end up like the last guy tossed from Heaven.
It wasn't all that bad, but who were you kidding, it was a disaster. It wasn't a major shift; rather, it was a series of modest changes. Things like accidentally cursing or hanging out with him at ungodly hours. You convinced yourself that everything was OK.
He drew you into your room and sat you down while hovering over you, gently caressing your body and kissing you.
You smiled and drew him closer to you, wrapping your legs around his waist and bringing him down on you, closing the distance between you.
Heeseung has been on a mission to damage your "innocent demeanor" for the past two weeks. He intended to show you that it was all a charade and that no one is actually perfect. Despite not knowing what he was going to do, you were up for the challenge. That core part of you didn't take long to succumb to his immoral impulses.
What was the problem as long as you were both happy?
âHeeseung,â you say as he draws you closer to him and unclasps your bra with his free hand. As you slowly rise to assist him, you toss the material to the ground and reach for his sweatpants.
âSomeone a little needy, but we are not doing that today. Today is all about pampering my lovely angel. Is it all right?â
Nodding your head, you keep an eye on him as he goes between your legs, halting at the bottom as he eyes your breast and grasps softly as your body adjusts.
âHurry up,â you grumble as you stare at his sinister grin. As you moan, he places gentle lips along your folds, leaning down to your core. As you twitch under his touch, his finger makes a fast dive between your folds, inciting dampness.
As you whine from the pressure, your eyes flutter shut as he switches his finger out with his tongue, softly licking up your surface.
âmm, close,â you exclaim, your lips wide open as he notices your clit, tongue flicking lustfully against it. As he presses harder on your sensitive region, he laughs as you break apart under his power.
âOh God, right there.âÂ
âPlease don't involve Him in this.â He hits a place as your high comes crashing down on you, chuckling at your reaction. Heeseung is holding you down and watching you quiver wildly as you release juice, which causes him to swallow it before wiping his mouth. As you fall onto his body, overwhelmed and still sensitive to the sensation, he pulls you up.
He lays your exhausted body next to his and wipes any excess arousal from his mouth before kissing your lips.
You both lay in a comfortable stillness for the remainder of the night, your breathing slowly returning to normal as you sign into his arms.
âPerhaps you're right; we're all just horny, messed-up creatures; I mean, even though what we're doing is completely wrong, it was fun to break the rules. My entire life has been focused on doing the right thing and being this upstanding angel. It's fun to deviate from the norm.â As Heeseung witnessed you erupt in rage, you became agitated.
âYouâre cute when youâre mad, also I told you.â You both chuckled as you pushed him to the side before coming to a halt in the middle of your conversation, looking concerned at him.
âHowever, I leave tomorrow and I don't think I'll be ready to see you off, and this was not in my plan.â
âShhh, I figured it out; just stick to my plan and we'll both come out on top.â
You sat closer to him, nodding your head and clasping your hand in his as you allowed sleep to take over your body.
As you may know, angels and humans have quite distinct punishments; some humans are never punished for their wrongdoings, whereas angels' actions are usually discovered one way or another.
And you were terrified that they would find out. The person who fell from the edge was not the same person who was returning back and everyone was going to know it. Just not right now, you had to maintain your composure as you approached your overseer.
As you were greeted with the overseer and some guards, you held Heeseung by his chains and whispered something into his ear.
âI see you were having a good time?â You shook your head and looked down, worried. You looked up at her with sad eyes.
âYes, High Lord, I am aware of my error and what needs to be done in order to be purified once more. I accept complete responsibility for this assignment, but I crack him first, and we have all the secrets we need.â
As he observed you return to the opposite side with the overseer, Heeseung's gaze shifted up in fright. Fearing for his life, he flailed his wings in an attempt to flee.
âWhat the hell, Y/N, I thought we were on the same team.â How could you betray me in such a way?â You walked over to his trembling body and pushed him down so you were above him, laughing loudly. You patted his shoulder as you cackled.
âAnd they said angels could be trustworthy. I know what I'm worth, and it has nothing to do with you. Heseeung, please accept my apologies. Get him out of here.â The guards grabbed his chains and dragged him to a chamber across the room from you.
As she began to compliment you on your efforts, the supervisor wrapped her arm around your shoulder.
âI'm proud of you, Y/N, even though you used some terrible techniques. I knew you'd be able to pull it off.â
You grinned joyously and thanked her for her faith in you as you looked up at her face. You cast another peek at Heeseung as she stepped forward, and he winked at you. Smirking before he disappeared into the room you chuckled at his behavior.
Everything was going swimmingly, and no one had a clue. I suppose taking over Heaven would be a simple task; if you can blow up the inside, everything will fall apart on its own.
"How could you hide this from all of us?" "Oh God, you underestimated me."
The Beauty of Sin.

Conflict Resolution at the Workplace
Conflict is a natural occurrence in any workplace. It can be defined as a disagreement or dispute between two or more people. Conflict arises when different people have different opinions, ideas and goals which result in disagreements and disputes.
Conflicts can be categorized into four types:
Personality conflicts: These are based on individualsâ personality traits, such as their attitudes, beliefs, values or emotions that trigger conflicts with other people.
Workplace conflicts: These are based on differences in working styles and cultures which result in conflicts between employees.
Structural conflicts: These arise due to problems related to the structure of the organisation such as lack of communication channels, unclear policies etc.
Processing style conflicts: These are caused by how people process information and make decisions which leads to poor results
Conflict resolution is a process of managing disagreements, disputes and other types of interpersonal conflicts. It involves finding mutually acceptable solutions to problems between two or more parties.
There are several strategies and techniques that can be employed in resolving workplace conflicts. They include:
Active ListeningâââTo resolve conflicts effectively, it is important for you to listen attentively to what the other person has to say. You should try to understand their point of view and feelings before expressing your own position on the matter.
ReframingâââReframing is another useful technique for resolving workplace conflicts which involves altering oneâs perspective on a situation. For example, instead of focusing on negative aspects of a problem, reframing helps one look at positive aspects as well.
Problem SolvingâââThe main objective behind problem-solving is to find solutions that meet both partiesâ interests and needs. Problem-solving is an effective means of conflict resolution since it allows both parties involved in an argument to suggest ways in which they could settle their differences without having to compromise on their respective positions or views on the issue at hand.
Take responsibility for your part in the conflict. It takes two parties to argue, but it only takes one person to end the argument by apologizing or admitting that they were wrong. The first step toward reconciliation is accepting responsibility for your part in any dispute.
Listen to the other personâs side of the story without interrupting them or judging them when theyâre upset or angry. Listen attentively while they talk about why they feel upset and try not to interrupt or offer advice until theyâve finished talking about their feelings. Avoid making judgments about what they say until you have all the information, instead of jumping to conclusions based on limited knowledge or assumptions. Ask questions if necessaryâââbut donât ask leading questions that make it obvious that you think something negative about them or their actions (e.g., âSo are you telling me that my method is wrong and yours is right?)
Conflict is often seen as a negative thing. However, conflict is an important part of every relationshipâââat home with family or friends; at work with colleagues; in schools; in communities; even between nations. Conflict allows us to discover new ideas and ways of doing things that might otherwise not have been discovered or considered before.

Why Kaishin Still Holds Up, Even Now.
I FINALLY watched the 23rd Detective Conan and let me tell you what...
Why are there not more episodes with these two working so closely together? Like please?! They got that solved so quickly and just shared information with one another and can I please just have them interact before the series ends pleaaaaaase.
Yet I'm not here for begging. I'm here to rant and cleverly disguise that rant as an essay.
I want to rant about trust in Detective Conan (specifically with a look at Kaishin) and the Enemies turned Rivals turned Friends turned Lovers trope.
[Mild Spoilers Ahead]
Trust as a Driving Force in Detective Conan
If someone asked me what is one of the many driving forces in the DC plot as well as the cornerstone of many of the relationships in DC it would be trust. Most of the characters in DC are living their lives with lies as the foundation of who they present themselves to be.
And here is something that I love about the relationship these two have with one another:
The trust that Shinichi has on Kid was earned and vice versa.
I don't think that Shinichi thinks that Kaito Kid is the most honest person in the world, but he does know that the magician works by a code and he trusts him to not put someone in any immediate danger despite the fact that Kaito Kid does not inherently talk too deep about his heists with him.
Ask yourself this. Where in canon did it say that in Kid's heist nobody gets hurt by Kid? I've read the manga and nowhere does he really say 'this is a safe show for everybody!' Let me tell you where it says it: Nowhere.
So why do we all assume it to be that way? Because even we have trust in our favourite thief that he won't do something to actively hurt someone. Since the story is being told in Shinichi's point of view, most of the times, we can rely on the trust that Shinichi has placed on Kid to not get anyone hurt.
One big example of this would be in the Detective Conan Movie: The Sunflowers of Inferno:
Leaving Ran in Kid's care is a conscious decision he is doing despite the fact that he doesn't know if Kid is even going to make it out. Shinichi loves Ran probably more than he loves himself and he wants her out of danger enough to place trust in someone that, situation wise, has no business whether Ran or Shinichi live or not. I honestly think that even Kid was surprised that Shinichi made that decision.
Now I'm not going to put my shipper goggles when I make this statement and go 'OH MY GOD THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH IT SHOWS IT EVERYWHERE. LOOK AT THE SHOW, STUPID."
But these two have something that not many of the characters in DC have and that is a mutual trust without knowing all the details of their lives.
Kaito happened to guess that Conan was Shinichi and I doubt that Shinichi is going to meet Kuroba Kaito by the end of the series. These two barely know each other but through their interactions just happen to understand each other enough to work together amazingly when thrust into a situation where they have to help each other out.
Which brings me to the second thing I want to talk about.
My Enemy Went From Being My Rival to My Friend to my Lover, What Happens Now?
I want to break into Gosho's house and ask him to please let Kaito Kuroba meet Shinichi Kudou. Like this is such a might need that I'm almost scared of looking forward to the ending of DC because I just have a feeling it isn't going to happen.
I might also ask him why the hell every side character needs a romance subplot but that is neither here nor there.
But now that the ships have been decided and canon has sealed the final nail on everything, I just want to talk about the trope that makes Kaishin just so amazing for me.
If I am remembering my facts right, Magic Kaito came before Detective Conan. Kaito was a realized character, somewhat, and was clearly a very likable chara with a ridiculous high IQ and a secret he couldn't reveal to anybody.
I mean he's a goddamn beautiful man is what I'm trying to say.
When I first read the series I could immediately tell that Aoko was set to be the romantic interest, Gosho really ain't fooling nobody. She seemed cute, extroverted and a girl who seems to really care for Kaito. Of course there was the juicy tidbit of Kaito being the thief her father is hunting down that also kept the relationship interesting.
So I was more than okay with having these two together.
I was already a bit aware of Detective Conan so I was all for the ShinRan as well. The pining, the secrets, the care that Shinichi has for her that transcends the organizations doing!
Also fun fact: Kaito/Aoko was the basis for Shinichi/Ran! Which is why ShinRan is thematically better than Kaito/Aoko but I will not go into that.
So one sad day during quarantine, I decided to rewatch the series to see if I could get any writing inspiration.
Now I don't know if it was quarantine or a change of heart or just me growing up but Gosho's friend trope seemed boring to me the more the episodes continued on. I AM NOT THROWING THE FRIENDSHIP TROPE DOWN, IT IS BEAUTIFUL I STILL SHIP SHINRAN
But I was tired of picking vanilla and wanted to see what else was on the menu.
And as luck would have it, I had decided to watch episode 515: Kaito Kid's Teleportation Magic and fate decides to deliver me a wonderful hit to the heart:
What is it about characters pointing guns at each other that I love so much?
And Shinichi doesn't react like a normal fucking person he just goes:
He knows this man ain't gonna shoot. They have had five interactions before this (if we are going by anime episodes) and through all those interactions Shinichi managed to get to a level of banter with this guy that he hasn't had with any of his other enemies.
If he even considered Kaito Kid an enemy to begin with.
Both Kaito and Shinichi have a mutual respect for each other's skill.
They test each other out in several situations and are pleased when the other figures it out, kinda transitioning their little chases to more of a 'two really smart guys trying to outwit each other' and less of a detective trying to outsmart a thief.
Shinichi enjoys figuring out his magic and Kaito enjoys the challenge of making some of his magic tricks near impossible to figure out. Their friendship is something really special and if they can have it without even knowing the details of each other's life, imagine how strong it would be if they truly met each other face to face.
I don't really want to cross into headcanon territory that would turn them into lovers, lord knows we have more fanfiction to do so, but it is just wonderful to see these two men both living a lie respectively but finding some solace in each other that they can shut their brains off for one second and just...play.
Hell, Kid's heists might be Shinichi's safe place. In those heists he is known as the 'Kid Killer' and not just some brat who happens to figure shit out. His opinion matters in those heists.
And not just to the police, but to Kaito as well.
BUT IM GETTING OFF TOPIC!
I just wanted to show love to this wonderful ship q wq
#detective conan#dcmk#magic kaito#kuroba kaito#kudo shinichi#kaishin#what can I say?#im a sucker for two men outwitting each other to the point it turns into flirting

warnings: mild swearing, mildly suggestive (if you squint lol)
| armin - colt - eren - jean - porco |
armin arlert
⢠i think most, if not all of us, agree that armin looks like the type to get all flustered with PDA & shy away from his emotions --- HOWEVER.
⢠rather than being all over you, he finds himself most comfortable with holding your hand or having an arm wrapped around your shoulders.
⢠he wouldn't mind you being clingy though đ
⢠would occasionally place a gentle peck on your forehead, cheeks & his personal favorite; the palm of your hands.
⢠you guys' dates would mostly end up being in a library, cafÊ & restaurants with a nice warm atmosphere.
⢠i bet he would be the kind of guy to take you to the beach whenever you're stressed out in hopes of calming you down.
⢠gets very defensive when his friends tease you, if a man could bark his friends away, it's armin arlert.
⢠this lad over here would establish a routine with you (with your consent & opinions ofc)
⢠mondays to friday mornings are centered on school, you guys do your own thing at school & walk you home while making sure to stop by a convenience store for snacks, assuming that you guys don't live together yet.
⢠both of you make it a point to check on one another to make sure you guys aren't wearing yourselves out.
⢠which leads me to the conclusion that your parents grew very fond of him & treats him more like their child
⢠when you guys are having a sleepover, this whole lowkey facade of his takes a 180 and the second you reach the bedroom he'll shower you with cuddles and kisses.
⢠you would watch movies (mostly rom-com just bc armin makes it work okay) tucked in a warm futon with popcorn and candies between you two.
⢠armin strikes me as a very studious guy and he does this to ensure you guys' future together ^-^
⢠all in all armin cares about you so much and he doesn't mind being vulnerable to you. he is your safe haven, and so are you to him.
colt grice
⢠okay can we talk about how this perfect man deserves some more attention
⢠colt, my man, gives me disney's prince florian vibes. the soft-spoken, kind-hearted, & just an absolute dream.
⢠he's the kind of guy to take you to the park, a greenhouse, & WORKSHOPS!!!
⢠given the idea that he is in fact a shy little baby, he is actually pretty active with you. every date you guys have is different. mans has a quest planned out for y'all.
⢠at school i think that you might be the one to initiate skinship. doesn't have to be kisses on the lips, it's more of gently trailing your index on the back of his hand or rubbing a hand on his forearm when he gets a little anxious.
⢠the type to peek through your classroom's door because bubba's too shy to ask someone to call for you đ¤§
⢠colt, in my opinion, is very domestic in private, now don't get me wrong he may be a little too shy in public because he isn't used to it but i promise you he takes on the nurturing role of the relationship more than you are.
⢠he helps you with cleaning, folding your clothes, and god if you guys get periods, he's got a whole pouch in his locker just for you.
⢠he doesn't do it intentionally, he happens to know you so well that he notices the slight change in your moods & cravings.
⢠colt often reads a book while you guys cuddle during the afternoons once all the work is done, he'd make you tea or whatever you want. he hums a tune, probably from old disney movies that his brother falco used to enjoy as a kid.
⢠your parents are more invested in your marriage than you and colt combined.
⢠okay, now if you happen to have a baby or a toddler somewhere around the house, someone keep this man from turning into a putty.
⢠as much as colt acts prim and proper most of the time, he has his moments where he just wants to be an entire mess. perhaps sleeping past his usual waking time, indulging in more snacks than usual. you know, loosen up? yeah, that is a side of his that only YOU will ever be allowed to see.
⢠so yes you and colt would be labeled as the: put-together couple who needs a little bit of adventure every now and then.
eren jaeger
⢠i hope i don't ramble too long because i love him sm
⢠mr. loverboy over here is a simp for you, more than you are a simp for him! he is not afraid to show you off and shower you with flattery. now he does this because he feels so lucky to have you.
⢠he can be a little clichÊ (well maybe not as much as jean --- more on that later), like he'll randomly interrupt your vacant class with a gift box he put together, & a bouquet. yes. (carla helped him pick out flowers from her shop)
⢠he's the type to crash his lips with yours in the middle of campus when you achieve something or when he does, vice-versa. if he plays in one of your school's teams, there just HAS to be a bet that if he wins he gets a kiss... or more... or something else.
⢠dates with eren are usually random than planned. like it pops in his head and he'll inform you right away. he respects your vacancy too of course but if you aren't he might pout just a little bit.
⢠his ideal dates are prop shop dates, going to hotspots, amusement parks, antique shops! & maybe late night drinks at a quiet bar where you can both enjoy the solace of the atmosphere.
⢠on special occasions, he does plan ahead. usually it's something on the simpler side. candlelit dinners at home or somewhere you guys both enjoy dining.
⢠if eren's had a bad day, best believe that he will run to you for comfort. only you can help keep his aggressive response to anger at bay.
⢠if given the chance he would take you around the world, he's that passionate in making sure you live a little
⢠hear me out... you and eren would probably have the most philosophical conversations, just laying on your backs beneath his room's skylight? heavenly.
⢠eren can get a little poetic expressing himself & i believe that it's just wonderful. no one can describe their feelings as good as eren.
⢠his favorite look of yours is when your eyes beam with excitement, it usually happens when you spot something that you used to enjoy as a kid or when you're concentrating on one of your hobbies.
⢠he's a very touchy person too, his hands are usually on your stomach/waist, his kisses are random & they linger for awhile.
⢠when you're asleep next to him, it's his habit to solemnly watch you while his own drowsiness starts to take over.
⢠eren is passionate & sometimes people might take it the wrong way. one of the reasons eren loves you is because of the way you understand how he is. mutual growth for y'all âĄ.
jean kirschtein
⢠jean is not afraid to pull a live performance for you, you see this man is at the top of the world when he's with you. from 80s hits to recent releases this man will blast his playlists catered for you.
⢠dates with jean are certainly spent on concerts, (him & eren bond over chase atlantic don't argue with me) music festivals, thrifting & late night drives!!!
⢠personally, i don't see jean as very gimmicky unless you guys are with his friends, he takes you very seriously and you are his top priority.
⢠at school i think he's definitely one of those flirtatious boyfriends. the kind who would not miss an opportunity to blow you a kiss or throw you a wink. he can be a bit of a dork, who wouldn't be? if he can get one of your rare smiles đĽş
⢠jean's the type to ask his pals for help when it comes to styling. not because he dresses badly but he's too focused on getting a flush on your cheeks. he's a hopeless romantic.
⢠if you guys happen to stay at home, he'll definitely serenade you with the amount of songs he had written recently just for you.
⢠since he bonds with sasha and connie, his jokes are either dad jokes or something that went viral on tiktok. he's the perfect balance of goofy and mature.
⢠if you aren't much of an active person he wouldn't mind being lazy with you and insist on a diy spa day at home.
⢠it's just netflix with a tub of ice cream and face masks on.
⢠since jean is quite the romantic, he would be into couple outfits or items that aren't cringey obv and probably doesn't mind using your perfume or vice-versa.
⢠jean probably asked you out during one of his gigs, offering you a single rose afterwards.
⢠he's the type to leave you random post-it notes if he visits your house. just random phrases or doodles. and boy does he pick you up every single day on his smexy motorcycle.
⢠he'll bring you coffee and breakfast to-go. this man's spoiling you baby.
⢠aside from that, i feel like jean would make you hand-made gifts with the help of his momma. he thinks it's sentimental when you make your presents because it's one of a kind.
⢠jean does all these things because he's 100% about you being a constant person in his life. he loves how he can be whoever he wants when he's around you, i'm certain you guys wouldn't have it any other way either.
porco galliard
⢠porco can be a dick if he wants to not to you though, this tough guy turns into putty just for you. he definitely loves being treated like a baby.
⢠at first he might come off as cold because he isn't used to the whole romance thing and he gets flustered with the slightest pecks so you might have to initiate at first.
⢠but once you guys get through the awkward phase this boy would straight up greet you with a passionate kiss and does not give a damn about everybody who witnessed it. he might even have a stupid smirk on his face.
⢠like eren, i feel like porco would be very passionate and intense. he doesn't say much but he definitely shows you just how much he adores you.
⢠speaking of friends (: reiner would tease him every second of the day. i bet he would team up with bertholdt to annoy this poor boy. annie and pieck's not much help either.
â˘whenever you're stressed, porco would run you a bath and give you massages very often. he'll sit on the edge of the tub while he runs his hand through your hair.
â˘his type of dates would be watching at a cinema or a drive-in, going to the mall just to look around,he's a simple guy.
â˘if you guys happen to have an argument, porco would distance himself for a few minutes to a few hours just to process the situation and avoid anything his aggression might cause.
â˘he knew that if he wanted you guys to work he needed to be better.
â˘he would come back though and hold you in his arms while you guys talk it out.
â˘i bet he's one of the aot characters who would be an athlete, so most days you'll end up watching him practice.
â˘overtime, porco would be more open to being intimate in public and post stories of you two just doing things most couples do.
â˘he's proud that you're his and he's all yours.
â˘porco is a great guy and he would do anything just to make you smile.
i hope you guys liked these~! let me know who you guys want to be in the second part. requests are open and as always, stay safe! - đ¸âď¸

retrospective & predictions
Since we're on a hiatus week (between 320 and 321) I feel like waxing poetic about the depth and growth of bkdk for a bit. Especially because it seems like weâre right on the edge of their biggest development yet, Iâm getting the urge to lay all my perspectives and insights Iâve picked up from others out on the table. This is ultimately only my subjective interpretation of subtextual material in canon, though. If youâve never quite understood what people see in their dynamic and youâre actually open to hearing me out, maybe from this you can at least see where weâre coming from. And if you donât like my takes after all, well, weâll see whoâs right in the coming chapters, wonât we? What I have to say can be taken platonically or romantically; I appreciate both.Â
putting it under the cut, since itâll be long:
At the risk of projecting, I want to start by examining a couple things based partly on personal experience.
From many different directions, I often hear people expressing that Dekuâs persistent attachment and admiration for Bakugou is baffling at best. Despite the bullying, despite Bakugouâs loud, rude, and uncompromising personality, he still puts effort into their relationship and frequently describes him as amazing. It seems like Deku himself is aware of this as heâs said things along the lines of how heâs difficult, BUT... etc. Although I donât think itâs exactly that Deku finds Bakugouâs personality hard to be around, but that heâs deliberately expressing patience for Bakugouâs emotional turmoil.Â
I have to say I know what this sort of patience is like, as I went through it with someone I love. I only chose to put up with their behavior because I decided the possibility of what our relationship could be was worth it. I wasnât blind or submissive to how they treated me, and I wasnât coerced. I simply expressed myself and established my boundaries while still allowing them the opportunity to join me in my world once they got over their own hangups. And guess what? It worked out in the end. That doesnât mean there arenât circumstances where itâs better to cut ties, but I want to stress that true reconciliation is possible sometimes. I used to worry that other people around me thought I was delusional for seeking it, but what really helped was my therapist reminding me that Iâm smart and strong. So I think Deku deserves to feel the same. In a way this is his whole mission in life, his approach to being a hero as well as his personal relationships.
Let me also be clear though that I donât mean Deku is only tolerating Bakugouâs personality, his mannerisms, the parts of him that will likely never change. Iâm drawing a line between those things and his emotional state (they so rarely align anyway, but Iâll get to that later). In fact, I think Bakugouâs general attitude is part of what Deku admires. This is gonna be hard to explain without inserting personal experience too, sorry. As a writer myself Iâve noticed Iâm drawn to writing characters that are brazen and bold and don't mind telling people off. Really itâs because I operate in the world in the polar opposite way. I try not to draw attention to myself, Iâm quiet, and Iâm a people-pleaser. People who project confidence, especially in an impolite sort of way, fascinate me. Itâs good to take cultural context into account, too: I've heard people whoâd know better than me that part of the reason Bakugou is the most popular character in the Japanese fandom is likely because he contradicts a lot of their social norms. His disregard is refreshing and cathartic. I can speculate that Deku has a similar point of view based on what he thinks but does not admit about Bakugou being his image of victory and how this sometimes makes him mimic Bakugouâs speech and mannerisms:Â
Thereâs also the bit in this fight where Deku realizes he's the only one able to receive Bakugouâs emotions. This is because heâs the most intimately familiar with him and his situation, but I think thereâs another layer. Deku, as we know, has a self-sacrificing tendency, and in the current chapters weâre seeing the worst side of that. But letâs also not forget that to an extent, it can be a positive trait: resilience. When it comes to Bakugou, he has an almost comical ability to dodge the potential fallout of his outbursts. The example we all jump to (and fight about..) is how in ch1, apart from the initial shock of Bakugou suggesting he jump off the roof, the most he reacts is to criticize him for saying such a ridiculous thing. However, I think their interaction post- sludge villain is a lot more interesting:
Note two things: 1, in his head, Deku is practically making fun of how Bakugouâs acting as he stomps away without waiting for a reply. It doesnât faze him. 2, Deku thinks, optimistically, that he can now focus on a different career choice. This is astonishing really. Up to this point, none of Bakugouâs attempts to put him down have worked; he just kept pursuing his dream. The only reason Deku concedes in this moment it because for the first time, he has been shown that he really couldn't do anything in a fight against a villain. All Might told him he couldn't be a hero (although heâs literally about to take that back in the next few pages lol) and the other heroes at the scene gave him a lecture about it too. It was those experiences, and not Bakugouâs words, that truly affected him. And when All Might tells Deku he can be a hero after all, itâs not thinking of Bakugouâs bullying that makes him sob and fall to his knees, itâs the memory of his own mom never telling him those words he so desperately needed to hear. Having spent most of their lives together, Deku must have been aware all this time that Baukgou was influenced by larger societal forces rather than a core judgement, so he didnât take it personally. He separated the person from the action, and because heâs resilient and patient, he is thus equipped to handle Bakugouâs emotions. Itâs a testament to his maturity and emotional intelligence, really.Â
But I can almost hear some of you saying, âthat doesnât mean Deku should have to be the bigger person here!â Correct! Just because Deku is perfectly alright bearing all of that, doesnât mean atonement-era Bakugou sees it this way. We can track his awareness of Dekuâs care and selflessness as follows-
The bridge scene, when theyâre little kids: Bakugou conflates Dekuâs heroism with pity, and subsequently thinks Deku is looking down on him because Bakugouâs own insecurity makes him defensive.
The Sludge Villain, and also Deku vs. Kacchan Part 1: Bakugou witnesses first-hand how easily Deku jumps to risk his own life, but still thinks heâs being looked down on.Â
The Sports Festival: Bakugou fights Uraraka and recognizes her endurance strategy and refusal to give up as very Deku-like. Heâs half right. He thinks Deku advised her in the fight, when in reality she just mimicked Deku because she admired him. I want to draw attention to his very sober comment about her not being frail. Itâs a great endearment of Urarakaâs character and Bakugouâs respect for her when others didnât take âfighting a girlâ seriously, but it also reflects on his opinion of Deku. Deku isnât weak either. He never was.
Deku vs. Kacchan Part 2: Deku finally corrects him about the whole looking-down-on-him thing, and Bakugou is informed that Dekuâs selflessness is in fact the reason All Might chose him. Since Bakugou had been in search of what he himself was âdoing wrongâ for All Might to favor Deku over him, he now has to reconcile the fact that selflessness is a heroic trait, and moreover something he lacks. This is also possibly the first time Bakugou is able to see his past actions toward Deku as bullying since he previously thought it was more mutual. Additionally, Bakugou can now link Dekuâs selfless behavior to what he perceived as pity/contempt, and realize that Deku has been giving him A LOT of grace. Maybe too much. Maybe more than Bakugou deserves, and definitely more than Deku should have to. Holy heck- now Bakugou has to figure out how to live up to all the faith thatâs been placed in him.Â
Subtextually, we can see Bakugouâs feelings about atonement reflected in the Todoroki family:
1, Shouto is another example of Deku growing a friendship using his selflessness (since their fight in the sports festival) and their relationship is being acknowledged here where it hasnât been in Bakugouâs situation. Perhaps Bakugou is wishing it could be so simple for him, to be able to thank him for being his friend like that. Deku saying the pleasure is all his also probably calls to mind how a mere apology from Bakugou would probably be dismissed because thatâs just the kind of accommodating person Deku is. Bakugou has to operate more quietly in order to actually make up for their past. I personally donât interpret this scene as Bakugou being jealous of Deku and Shoutoâs friendship, exactly, just the lack of emotional baggage. Side note, Deku and Fuyumi are kinda similar in their desire to repair relationships. I like that sheâs the one to give him some credit.Â
2, With the common terminology, this can be interpreted as Bakugou receiving a model for atonement, one that is about action, and nothing to do with receiving favor or forgiveness. Itâs a sense of duty.Â
Many of the above sentiments are repeated in the flashback conversation between All Might and Bakugou right before Bakugouâs sacrifice.Â
Bakugou acknowledges his bullying and that it happened because of his own insecurities, but aside from that, itâs interesting he neither confirms nor denies All Mightâs suggestion that heâs trying to atone, or that Deku doesnât see it that way. All Might is a bit of an unreliable mentor sometimes, but I donât think heâs misreading here. Rather, Bakugou is displaying his tendency to hold back when talking about things that would make him really emotional. Besides, admitting to what heâs doing kind of defeats the purpose. He isnât seeking acknowledgement. All Might has gotten to the crux of the issue here when pointing out that Deku doesnât recognize the atonement, likely because Deku doesn't think Bakugou even needs to atone. Am I reading into it too much to say Bakugou looks wistful at this? Itâs kinda frustrating sometimes trying to interpret Bakugouâs actions because heâs so paradoxical. Loud and in your face, but also extremely reserved. Sometimes I feel like Iâm grasping at thin air, but hey, being hard to figure out is part of his intrigue as a character. The simplest way to look at him is to assume that unless heâs really showing vulnerability, heâs probably deflecting and hiding something.
Speaking of Bakugouâs tendency to to hold back emotional stuff, thereâs his apparent lack of issue with Deku calling him Kacchan. Maybe to begin with, in his warped perception of things where he thought they hated each other, Bakugou saw it as Dekuâs way of getting back at him for calling him âuseless,â and didn't dare give any indication that it actually bothered him. However... consider how betrayed Bakugou has appeared when he was noticeably thinking Deku was looking down on him- the bridge scene, and the beginning of their first year at UA when he thought Deku was hiding a quirk all along. He looks shocked and hurt. That kind of emotion couldnât be invoked by someone Bakugou didnât actually care about his relationship with. âKacchanâ comes from a long time ago, before their relationship was strained, so itâs connotations are pure. Maybe somewhere deep down, Bakugou has always been hoping that Dekuâs continued use of the nickname was not simply a matter of habit or teasing, but a vestige of friendship theyâre both clinging to, and Bakugou himself was too afraid to admit to himself that he felt this way about it, so he mostly ignored it. (These are not original thoughts I am having here lol, this is a common interpretation. Iâm just laying everything out like I said.)Â
And now we turn to the current situation. Personally, Iâve been looking frantically back and forth between them wondering whoâs going to break down first (Deku vs. Kacchan Part 3, this time itâs just a fight to get the other person to cry? ha.) Both have looked like theyâre approaching a breaking point for some time. Also, Iâve addressed this before, but I think itâs significant that Bakugou is no longer wearing his mask with his hero costume, in contrast to Deku recently donning his own. It feels symbolic of Bakugou about to be upfront about how he feels.
The question is, what is it going to take to get Deku to accept help? If you ask me, Deku has dug himself so deeply into the Iâm-doing-this-for-everyone-elseâs-safety-and-smiles hole, no common sense argument can possibly reach him. By the end of 320, Dekuâs mask is off, and we can see how desperate he truly is. But he has not cried, yet. I predict weâre going to see a bit more of his defiance, this time on full display on his face as the remaining class members and his other friends take their turns. But then I think Bakugou has to be the one to break down so Deku can witness his actions having the opposite effect he intended. People have been pointing out that Deku is currently ignoring Bakugou, and oof, thatâs gotta be intentional. Regardless of what Bakugou says, itâs going to be wrapped up not only in his understanding of Dekuâs self-sacrifice, but also the betrayal Bakugou feels at being ignored/left behind that ironically echoes his previous perception of being looked down on, as well as a need to express how much he cares about Deku before itâs too late. He must show that the two of them are inseparable because they both act to save each other without thinking, and both feel like losing the other would be like dying themselves. All Might may have been right when he told them they could learn from each other after Deku vs. Kacchan Part 2, but he didnât fully realize that idea by making sure they stuck by each other for support and balance.Â
I canât wait to see what itâll be like when they do finally get to that point, totally in synch and in tune with each other. Theyâll be a powerful force no one is quite prepared for. Who knows when that will be, or even which chapter will be their big showdown, but I know the day is coming.
To speculate even further, I think the 2nd user is going to be really important really soon. And no I donât mean to suggest that the 2nd user is Bakugou. But I do think their resemblance is key. Okay this is gonna be convoluted...
See how 2nd is the only one still standing? I think thatâs symbolic of him withholding his quirk. Deku may not even know what it is at this point, let alone have unlocked it. Given that 2nd approves of Dekuâs strategy at this point, it seems odd for him to withhold his quirk based on lack of faith. I think if his quirk was something that would help Deku in combat, he would have shown it to him already like the others did. So what if those gauntlets of his are support items that are meant to make up for his lack of a combat-oriented quirk, rather than to augment it? Mind you, I still have no idea what his mysterious power might be, but Iâm dead set on it not being explosion-y. Regardless, I think 2nd looking like Bakugou is more about aiding some grand visual parallel, so! You know how 2nd and 3rd were probably intending to do away with Yoichi but 2nd changed his mind as soon as they made eye contact? This is really a long shot, but I wonder if 2ndâs quirk has something to do with that exchange. Maybe itâs something psychological, or some 6th sense about people he meets. So... in that way 2ndâs quirk could play a role in bkdk reaching a deeper understanding? Idk! But it could be significant at least that 2nd left Yoichiâs question about why he reached out to him unanswered.Â
One more thing- while I was gathering screenshots I found this. I think âyouâre the last one Iâm tellingâ might be foreshadowing for Bakugou revealing his hero name to Deku and it being a Big Deal:
As for other lingering threads in the overall plot right now, such as the UA traitor, Stain, whatever Tsuyu is apparently about to do, All Mightâs car maybe in the background of the last page of 320... man I have no idea. All I know is thereâs literally 320 chaptersâ worth of build-up to this confrontation that canât be interrupted.Â
See you next week <3

I love not being a teenager and being capable of waiting for the clarification before forming an opinion
// TW DISCUSSION OF MENTAL HEALTH, DOXXING, ABUSE AND HARASSMENT
much like another post circling around, i don't want this to become a battlefield with people going 'i knew it!! how could you have been so guillable!!!!'. i respect and understand the people who didn't see it all so clear. as i've mentioned before we don't, and never will, understand much of the situation, as we are not living inside the victim's, dream's or ollie's minds.
same as anon, i'm someone who would rather wait it out to form a more educated and global understanding of the situation. better that than prematurely lashing out and saying things i would regret in the long run. it has happened before.
i don't expect everyone else to be the same. everyone has different experiences, copying mechanisms and emotional reactions to different situations. even the very mention of it is enough to make a DA victim spiral (or abuse of any kind). i understand not thinking critically in a situation like this.
i am deeply uncomfortable discussing this, as it's a part of me that only my family and two of my best friends are aware of. i am the kid that was found in the crossfire of someone's psychological and physical abuse to a big part of my mom's side of the family. i have been witness of the direct assaults as much as me, with my dad, have been constant witnesses of my mom's decaying mental health. i will be the first person to admit that i have assumed the worst of certain people and acted accordingly - and DEEPLY regretted it, to the point where one of my deepest regrets was me mistreating someone who never deserved it. someone i mistreated and that i will never have the chance to apologize to because they're gone. i started therapy shortly after, and ever since that moment i promised myself i would always react to emotionally charged moments with a levelhead.
i want to start off by saying that i am deeply sorry if any of words came off as invalidating of anyone's experience. my intention never was to make anyone feel as though they weren't entitled to feelings what they were feeling. i tried to make a point, several times, to clear up that THAT wasn't the case. nevertheless, if i made people feel like that, i deeply apologize. it was never my intention to make anyone feel bad about themselves. i am well aware i have lost followers and mutuals. i apologize personally for hurting you and letting you down. i don't expect this apology to be bonding experience or a bridge to fix things, nor do i want it to be, i think.
i'm going to try to explain my point of view because i feel like i didn't do a good job at it yesterday. in no way was i trying to defend anyone blindly. i understand how it might have come off that way. digging for information looked like me trying to bend over backwards to prove someone's innocence.
it wasn't the case. as i stated yesterday, i have been victim of doxxing. i have been the crowd's target. not just online but irl as well. i have suffered discrimination, abandonment, slander and verbal aggression from peers. again, both on the internet and outside of it. seeing people unite forces to spread malicious information and use hate speech on dream, both from outside and within the fandom, made me upset. not because it was dream, but because it has happened to me before. and speaking from personal experience, it's not something that i would EVER wish upon anyone. the only reason why i digged for information was for my own interest. because, as anon said, i need to see contrasted information before i make up my mind on something. as i have mentioned before, i second guessed dream for a second. i didn't wanna get it wrong. i didn't wanna give the benefit of the doubt to an obvious abuser. i understand how people wouldn't be comfortable looking for that information - in which case, all i ask is for people to not reach unfounded conclusions without looking at the evidence. it's deeply unfair and dangerous.
i then spoke about my experience with the leaked information in hopes of pacifying things. in a dash that, for one second, seemed very against dream.
from my point of view ollie IS innocent. god knows i don't have anything against the guy but i also don't have anything going for him that would make me jump straight into the pit. i don't think we'll ever get closure. from where i'm standing, i have decided that the piece of information that i am aware of makes him not guilty. i don't expect anyone to jump on this train, as much as i don't expect anyone to expect me to jump on theirs. at this point, there's no way of deciding which sides holds more truth. based on what i have read and searched, i have come to this conclusion.
if i defended ollie's name last night it wasn't because i blindly thought he was innocent, or that dream wasn't. everything i asked for yesterday was for some human decency. again, as someone who has been the target in an unfair situation (because as much as people might want to argue, the situation WAS, and in my opinion IS, up in the air). i cannot, and i can't stress it enough, tolerate any kind of slander and direct harassment towards anyone. it goes against my moral compass. respect is a basic human right.
i am hurt by the way things have been handled. much like i was asked to see the other side of the story, i wish people would have taken a second to entertain MY side of the story. i don't understand why i am being asked to look at it from their perspective/validate their feelings when im not getting the same treatment. i will always keep in mind the other person's feelings and thoughts, because that's just who i am as a person, despite the little to nothing that i have gotten in return. i think it's deeply unfair and upsetting. same way i see people disappointed/angry at other people who have called them out on their emotional responses, becuase it was "their way of coping", when they never entertained dream's own feelings. i don't understand why me, or dream, or anyone who was on his side, isn't getting the same treatment that they expect us to have.
nevertheless, again, i'm sorry for hurting anyone. never my intention.

Initiative pt 2 - ao3 or tumblr pt 1
It was just typical of his brother, Nie Huaisang thought. He finally, finally, finally found a girl that might suit him, agreed to marry her, and then he spent all his time worrying aboutâŚsaber.
Typical.
Nie Huaisang volunteered himself to act as the family representative in negotiations with the Jiang sect, seeing as his brother would undoubtedly get them fleeced if he were trying to do it himself â âTry not to be too mercenary, Huaisang. We are the ones in the stronger position, through no fault of theirs.â â Â and with one thing or another he arrived at the Lotus Pier less than a week after Jiang Yanli did.
Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian seemed rather surprised to see him.
âI havenât had a moment to tell them,â Jiang Yanli said, pressing her head to her forehead and looking a little tired. âTheyâd just completed the memorial hall, when I arrived.â
âAnd itâs been nothing but keeping them from fighting ever since?â Nie Huaisang said, not without some sympathy.
Only some, though. If Jiang Yanli couldnât handle Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian, even the grieved and tragic versions of them, what was she going to do the first time his brother went into a rage?
Maybe he was being too cold-blooded. After all, theyâd been her parents, too.
âYour arrival is a good thing,â she said, narrowing her eyes a little in satisfaction. âNow they have no excuse to run away from me.â
Nie Huaisang couldnât help but smile a little at that.
She summoned a few sect disciples, divided them neatly into two groups â one larger than the other â and instructed them to go bring her two recalcitrant brothers to the main hall. âYou may use force,â she informed the larger group. âI would advise you that A-Xian is especially weak to tickling around his ribs, and donât let him scare you off with that Yiling Patriarch stuff. And as for the group going to get A-Cheng â may I suggest looking especially pathetic when you convey the message that his sister, who he left alone for almost the entire war, would really like to see him if he has a moment to spare for her?â
Nie Huaisangâs smile broadened. âTears,â he added solemnly. âTears are very good. He hates tears.â
âJust so. Thank you all.â
âMy brother is already planning out your saber,â he told her once the disciples had left, and she brightened visibly. âIf thereâs anything you want to contribute in terms of design, nowâs the time â I brought mine in case you want to have a look later on.â
Aituan was in his luggage. Somewhere. His brother had refused to let him leave the Unclean Realm before heâd produced proof of saber, and he hadnât unpacked since then, so surely it was somewhere.
âIâm sure whatever your brother comes up with will be fine,â she said. âI donât know anything about weapons.â
A brief hesitation.
âAlthough, perhaps not â so largeâŚ?â
Nie Huaisang decided to be daring. He opened his fan in front of his face and looked at her over it, allowing his eyes to curve up in a smile. âDonât worry about that â though if all goes well, youâre going to have to accustom yourself to dealing with a large saber at some point in the process.â
She burst out laughing, which was good.
âNie Huaisang!â Oh, look, Jiang Cheng was here. âWhat are you saying to my sister? Youâd better not be harassing her!â
âWhat would you do if I was?â Nie Huaisang wondered. âI mean, Iâm not, I donât think, but ââ
âJust donât.â
âA-Cheng,â Jiang Yanli said. âBe polite. Whereâs A-Xian? I have something to tell you both.â
Wei Wuxian came in a few moments later, grumbling and rubbing his ribs but brightening when he saw them all gathered up there, and he slid into place by Jiang Chengâs side easy as anything even if they did sort of stare awkwardly with quasi-glares, quasi-grimaces at each other first.
And then Jiang Yanli told them why Nie Huaisang was there, and all awkwardness fell away at once so that they could unite in glaring at Nie Huaisang.
âWhy are you looking at me for?â he asked. âIâm not the one marrying her, thatâs my brother.â
âIf you had anything to do with this ââ Wei Wuxian started, doing his whole looming-with-the-subtonal-wailing-of-dark-forces Yiling Patriarch thing, but ticklish around the ribs and a summer of nonsense didnât really do much to encourage fear in Nie Huaisang, whoâd never had as much common sense as a regular person ought.
âOh, no, I objected to it,â Nie Huaisang said breezily. âYour sister doesnât deserve my brother.â
And that, of course, got them both up in arms even more.
âWhatâs that supposed to mean? Whatâs wrong with my sister?â Jiang Cheng shouted, and Wei Wuxianâs aura-of-darkness got even more out of hand as he crossed his arms and glared death. âSheâd be a great bride for anyone! Give me one reason ââ
âIâm glad to have your support, didi,â Jiang Yanli said, calmly ladling out the soup sheâd promised Nie Huaisang as if they were sitting in the midst of a nice breeze instead of a hurricane, and okay, fine, maybe his brother had a point about the importance of things like backbone and patience. âDonât worry so much. If Nie-er-gongzi is here as his brotherâs representative, that must mean heâs accepted the match.â
Or that he was here to sabotage it, but he appreciated her good faith interpretation.
âPlease, just Huaisang is fine,â he said, smiling at her. âYouâll be my sister-in-law soon enough, wonât you?â
âWe havenât agreed yet!â Wei Wuxian exclaimed.
âOh, like your opinion matters,â Nie Huaisang said, rolling his eyes. âYou know how many people have put good money down on you leaving the Jiang sect in the next three-to-six months?â
That got all of them looking like theyâd just been unexpectedly stabbed in the chest, Jiang Yanli included.
âWhat?â he asked, batting his eyelashes innocently at them. âDid I say something wrong? Everyone knows you arenât doing anything for the Jiang sect anymore, Wei-xiong. All the rumors says so, and the only reason for that is if you were planning on ditching now that you donât need them anymore.â
âThatâs enough,â Jiang Yanli said, and there was a bit of steel in her voice. âA-Xian isnât leaving, and even if he was, his opinion on my marriage would still matter to me.â
âThatâs one of the reasons I objected,â Nie Huaisang said to her, deciding that she was clearly the only one mature enough to have this extremely necessary discussion with. âMeaning no offense, but in every possible respect, youâre a bad match. If you marry my brother, will you be expecting him to run around defending everything the Yiling Patriarch does whenever heâs in the mood to thumb his nose at the cultivation world? Or paying for the Lotus Pierâs reconstruction costs, even though Jiang-xiong hasnât made a single overture to our Nie sect in terms of reestablishing trade routes or even just swapping craftsmen for mutual benefit?â
Both Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were positively black in the face.
âOf course, even if you werenât going to anchor him down with even more political obligations, thereâs your personal value,â Nie Huaisang continued, tapping his finger against his cheek. âWord has it that youâre weak and sickly. Whoâs to say that you wonât die along with the first child you bear ââ
âHow dare you talk about my shijie like that!â Wei Wuxian shouted, slamming his hand down on the table, while Jiang Chengâs Zidian crackled lightning like an overactive firework. âHow dare you ââ
âAnd do you still support the marriage, even with all of these disadvantages?â Jiang Yanli asked, holding up her hands to hold her brothers back. Her eyes were a bit wet, but she was otherwise unperturbed, at least on the surface.
âI do, actually,â Nie Huaisang said, pleased. Even if she went to go cry later, which he didnât think she would, sheâd done well enough to pass his personal test of what constituted backbone. âMy brother doesnât care about politics, we have plenty of money, and thereâs doctors for the rest of it. If youâre really willing to put in the effort, Iâd be happy to call you my sister-in-law.â
Jiang Cheng was hissing like a pot of water on the boil. Wei Wuxian was grinding his teeth.
âI appreciate that,â Jiang Yanli said, disregarding them entirely. âI can promise you that Iâll do my best.â
âGood, good,â Nie Huaisang said, and grinned at her. âThereâs only enough room for one useless flower vase in the Nie household, and the position is taken. By me, if thatâs not clear. I brought my brotherâs eight characters â do you have yours at hand? We can calculate the auspicious date immediately.â
âI still havenât agreed!â Jiang Cheng exclaimed, and Jiang Yanli reached out to touch his arm lightly. âI havenât! Jiejie, you donât have to marry anyone you donât want to, no matter what good things you think itâd bring to the sect, okay? You should marry for love!â
âJiang Chengâs right, shijie,â Wei Wuxian said at once. âYou should get anyone you like. Even if you still want that stupid Jin sect peacock, weâd find a way to get him for you.â
Nie Huaisang looked at Jiang Yanli carefully at that one. It was even odds if his brother minded her having some vestigial affections, especially in the beginning, but he himself wouldnât be having any of that â least of all with a Jin, no matter how much better Jin Zixuan seemed to be than his father.
His brother deserved someone who would put him first, this time.
âNo, thank you,â she said without the slightest hesitation, and Nie Huaisang nodded in approval. âYoung Master Jin has made his opinion about me clear enough, and not just once. Iâm not going to run after him like I think thatâs all Iâm good for. And anyway, Chifeng-zun is a good man, who you both greatly admire â why canât I marry him?â
âYou can marry anyone you want,â Jiang Cheng said at once.
âAnd I want to marry him,â she said, and smiled. âAt first, yes, it was primarily because he seemed to offer the most advantages for our sect, butâŚI donât know. Heâs very nice.â
Nie Huaisang mouthed the word âniceâ to himself, rolling it around in his mouth like a fine wine. It might be the first time anyone had ever described his brother that way.
âI think I would be happy being married to him,â she concluded. âEven very happy. Will you approve?â
They folded like a stack of cards.
âOh, I like you,â Nie Huaisang told her, finally but now wholly delighted. âItâll be good for my brother.â
And itâll be interesting to see how the Jin sect takes it, he thought with a smirk half-hidden behind his fan. Since you bring the power and influence of whole Jiang sect with you, and the Yiling Patriarch too.
He wouldnât mention that, of course.
Only an idiot would negotiate against themselves.

lavender and velvet //part six
SUMMARY: she had her fathers eyes, his aristocratic looks, her grandmothers spite, her mothers heart, but the one thing she didn't have was the love of her father that her god brother received. juliet black finally meets her father who has already decided who his child is.
PAIRINGS: to be decided.
hello! i am so happy to see im nearly at 200 followers! once i hit that milestone, i have something special for you guys ;) hope you all like this chapter! also, if any of you cared to give me your opinion, how are you feeling about julietâs relationships with everyone, romantic or otherwise? i just want to make sure im doing a good job at portraying her and that she is not coming off as a mary sue. thank you all, and as always if you want to be added to the taglist, let me know!
Juliet had never so thoroughly misjudged a school year before in her life.
She really should have taken the summer as a forewarning towards the hell that awaited them at Hogwarts. Then again, she doubted anyone could have really predicted the horror that was Dolores Umbridge.
The wretched old toad was a horrible excuse for a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. She had told them they would not be doing magic of any kind, even though the entire point of them attending Hogwarts was to learn magic. To add insult to injury, she had the most disgusting personality, and for whatever reason, she absolutely fawned over Draco.
Well, not for whatever reason, she thought to herself, his fatherâs ministry contributions surely had a lot to do with it.
Of course, given her parentage, Umbridge absolutely despised her. Draco, because he loved being an utter twat, found it to be the funniest thing. It had caused a few genuine arguments between the two, because he didnât understand that it truly bothered her. It wasnât like the teacher didnât like her because she was a bad student, because she wasnât. Umbridge hated her because her father was the escaped alleged murderer Sirius Black.
Draco couldnât seem to understand that, and per his usual behavior, he would beat a joke to death.Â
The only thing keeping her from being over the edge was the meetings with Dumbeldoreâs Army. George had told her about it, and despite the tension that had been there between her and Harry, she had to admit he was a great teacher. It was easier for her to put aside her jealousy of him while they were at Hogwarts, as the presence of her father was absent, and she found herself enjoying his company. He was much more sassy than she would have thought, and could keep up a banter with her that would have the others annoyed in no time.Â
Being a Prefect wasnât half bad, either. She enjoyed helping the younger students, finding it joyful to do so. It made her feel useful, and needed. The only thing that was annoying was trying to keep Draco in line, as he preferred bullying and intimidation rather than helping them.Â
Due to Dracoâs behavior, there was a growing wedge between them. She didnât know how to fix it, and it upset her.Â
âBlack,â Blaise Zabini snapped his fingers, breaking her out of her thoughts. âNottâs been trying to talk to you.â
âOh,â Juliet cleared her throat, her eyes flicking from the fire to Theo, who looked at her with a smile on his admittedly handsome face. âSorry, Theo. What is it?â
âI was wondering if you were going to Hogsmeade tomorrow.â Theo paused, waiting for his reply. His blue eyes stared at her, and she found herself self conscious under his gaze.
âErm, I suppose so,â Juliet replied, lifting an eyebrow as she appraised the boy. âAre you?â
Theo nodded. âI was wondering if you would fancy grabbing a butterbeer.â
Juliet blinked. âWith everyone?â
âWell, I was thinking just the two of us could,â he paused, raising an eyebrow. âUnless you donât want to.â
âNo,â Juliet paused. âI would like that.â
As Theo smiled, Blaise snorted. Juliet glanced at him, her eyes narrowed.
âThat was bloody awkward,â he shook his head. âGood thing the two of youâll be on your own.â
âAw, so sorry Blaise,â Juliet fake pouted, resting her chin on her palm. âPerhaps if you catch Parkinson when sheâs not sucking Dracoâs cock, you could go with her.â
Theo laughed at that, while Blaise flicked her off and turned his attention back to his Transfiguration homework. Juliet smirked, looking back at the fire with her chin in her hand. She couldnât help but think of George.
He had begun casually seeing Alicia Spinnet, or at least that was what was heard around the castle. She almost didnât believe it, but she had caught them snogging once. She hadnât said anything, instead she acted like she saw nothing. It had hurt her, and she really wasnât sure why. She should be happy for George, that he had finally gotten himself a girlfriend. She should have teased him, when she caught them kissing, yet, she had backed away slowly as her chest tightened.
âIâll be so glad when Christmas break comes,â Draco sat down next to Juliet, lying his legs across her lap. âIâm so tired of having to help pathetic little first years.â
âYou used to be a pathetic little first year at one point,â Juliet reminded him, shoving his legs off her, ignoring his protest. âNow look at you, a pathetic little fifth year.â
âOh, shove off,â Draco rolled his eyes, ignoring the laughter from their friends. âYeah yeah, you all are right gits.â
Crabbe and Goyle had arrived with Draco, both sitting in separate arm chairs. They had snacks, obviously having just come from the kitchen. They ate loudly, smacking their lips and chewing roughly, making Julietâs stomach churn.
âNottâs asked Juliet to Hogsmeade with him.â Blaise informed Draco, flicking through his book.Â
âDid he now?â Draco looked from Theo to Juliet. âShall I sound the bells?â
âOh bugger off, Draco,â Juliet hit his arm harshly, standing up from her seat. She had felt her fake Galleon burn in her pocket, signaling a new date had been set for Dumbledoreâs Army. âJust because you canât get a friend to go to Hogsmeade with.â
âIâm going with Pansy tomorrow.â Draco responded smugly, crossing his arms.
âI said a friend, not a stalker.â Juliet called over her shoulder, smirking when the others laughed.
She checked the Galleon to see that they were set to meet tomorrow night at nine, probably their last meeting before they went home for holidays. Heading up to her room, she turned in for the night, thoughts of Theo and George swarming in her head.
âYouâre going to miss breakfast if you donât wake up soon,â Pansy woke Juliet up the next morning, swishing her curtains open. âWouldnât want to go to Hogsmeade with Theo on an empty stomach.â
âBlimey, word travels fast,â Juliet grumbled, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. She stretched her arms over her head, her joints cracking as she did. âDraco told you.â
Pansy shook her head, her short black hair styled wavy this morning. âTheo did. He was practically grinning ear to ear. Made me positively sick.â
âOh, little Parkinson canât handle the thought of someone caring for someone other than herself,â Juliet mocked, making her way to the bathroom.
âPiss off, Juliet.â Pansy called after her, annoyance laced in her tone.
âLove you, Parkinson.â Juliet called back, smirking on her way to the shower.
After she had showered, she dressed nicer than usual. Instead of leggings and a sweater, her usual weekend attire, she wore a baggy cream sweater tucked into a short pleated black skirt belted at the waist with a thin green strap, and knee high socks. Her dark hair, usually tied back in a low pony, was free around her face. She put on more makeup than usual, spritzed on her perfume, and walked down to breakfast.Â
âYou look pretty,â Theo complimented her, pouring himself pumpkin juice. âAnd you smell nice.â
âMerlin, Theo,â Draco rolled his eyes, stabbing at his eggs. âWe get it, you fancy her. Save your lovey dovey talk for when youâre alone.â
âI pity your future girlfriend if you think compliments are saved for when youâre alone,â Juliet shot back, fixing her tea. âThank you, Theo. You look nice as well.â
âYou know Draco, she has a point,â Pansy sniffed, pointedly looking down at her seemingly new blouse. âCompliments are what you give when you like someone and want them to feel nice.â
âI love when they do this,â Blaise muttered to Theo, a smile on his face. âGet on his case. Teach him manners. Itâs brilliant.â
âOh, do shut it Zabini.â Draco snapped, rolling his eyes for the second time.Â
After breakfast, they split up, Theo and Juliet walked alone together to Hogsmeade. It was an unusually nice day, thankfully, even though snow dusted the rooftops and covered the ground with a thick layer.Â
Walking with Theo was nice. He was very kind, and intelligent. They spoke about their homework due Monday, and their mutual dislike for Umbridge. The latter conversation carried them all the way to the Three Broomsticks, where Juliet told him about how she had gotten two detentions from her so far; because she had pointed out that they were at Hogwarts to actually practice magic, whereas Theo had not gotten the lovely opportunity.Â
âMerlin, sheâs awful,â Theo shook his head, looking down at her arm. âIs there still a mark?â
Juliet rolled up her sleeve to show him the faint scar that remained, reading, I must be respectful of authority. Theoâs fingers brushed gently over the raised lettering, his fingers soft against her skin, giving her goosebumps.Â
âI suppose Dumbledore canât do much about her,â Theo said quietly. âAfter all, sheâs ministry appointed.â
âShe sure is,â Juliet murmured, pulling her sleeve down once more. âThe ministry is a fool.â
âRight on that,â Theo said darkly, taking a drink of his butterbeer. âSuppose it makes it easier on us, though.â
âHow so?â Juliet questioned, taking a drink of her own.
âWell, with our parents,â Theo shrugged, noting how Juliet tensed. âDid I say something wrong?â
âTheo,â Juliet paused, biting her lip. âAre you referring to Voldemort?â
âThis really isnât the place for that conversation.â Theo responded quietly, but nodded his head.Â
âYou started it,â Juliet pointed out, her stomach lacing with knots. âAre you.. On his side?â
Theo shrugged again. âI think heâs got the right idea on some things. Itâs kind of hard not to be a supporter, anyways. Family business, and all of that.â
âItâs not my family business,â she replied quickly, shaking her head. âI donât think heâs got the right idea.â
âNot entirely, of course,â he agreed with her. âIâm just saying, it probably would be better for the muggles if they had our help, yâknow? I donât really believe in the mudblood hatred, of course, I mean look at Granger, muggle born and still the brightest witch of our year.â
âI like you, Theo,â Juliet began, pausing again to bite her lip. âBut I donât know that we can get anywhere if you really support him overall.â
âPerhaps youâll have to change my views then,â Theo replied lightly, reaching out his hand to brush his thumb over her knuckles. âOpen my eyes.â
âI can handle that.â Juliet cocked her head at him, a smile on her face. Theoâs touch was nice. She felt butterflies in her tummy as they continued talking.
At some point during their conversation, Theo had taken her hand in his, across the table. Their butterbeers were long gone, but they kept talking. She was trying her best to change his opinion, and by the time he suggested they head to Honeydukes before returning to the castle, he had admitted that she made some rather good points.
A familiar voice caught her attention from where she sat with Theo, and she turned her head to see the twins head in, with two girls trailing behind them. Angelina Johnson was holding Fredâs hand, while Alicia Spinnet held Georgeâs. Juliet felt her heartbeat quicken, and she was suddenly hyper aware of her surroundings.Â
Theo noticed her change in energy, and clasped her hand in both of his as he asked if she was alright.
Juliet nodded, swallowing hard as Fred noticed her first. He caught sight of her holding hands with Theo, and nudged George while pointing over towards her. Juliet glanced away before she caught Georgeâs eye, feeling her chest tighten at the thought.
âLooks like your twins are headed our way,â Theo remarked lightly, his hands tightening on hers. âShould I be nervous?â
âHe-They, arenât mine,â she corrected him, nerves tightening her tummy. âAnd no, you shouldnât be.â
âLittle Juliet, you look rather dashing today,â Fred greeted, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. âLong time no see. Out on a little date, are you?â
âSame as the both of you,â Juliet remarked, raising her eyebrows as she forced herself to look at the redheads. âHey Fred, George.â
âTheodore Nott, hm?â George asked her, his eyes tight as they looked at each other.
âAlicia Spinnet, hm?â Juliet echoed him, raising her eyebrows and giving him a look as she dared him to say more.
âIâm with Angelina Johnson, if anyone cares to know,â Fred joked, breaking the tension. âWhere are you two headed off to after this?â
âHoneydukes,â Theo replied, giving Fred a friendly smile. âI bet you lot just came from Zonkos.â
âSmart man,â Fred snapped his fingers, giving him a grin. âI like him, Jules.â
âThank you.â Juliet murmured, looking away from George.
âWell, I suppose weâd better let the two of you be on with it then,â Fred gave Juliet a hug. âSee you later.â
âBye Freddie,â Juliet hugged him back, looking hesitantly at George, who was staring back at her with that odd look he had given her at Kings Cross, when he had said goodbye to her. âBye, Georgie.â
George nodded, turning around with Fred as they headed back towards their dates. Juliet swallowed hard, unsure of the feeling in her tummy that had traveled to her chest and her throat.
âShall we?â Theo asked, standing when she nodded.
They left the three broomsticks, and Juliet didnât dare look at the twins again. She didnât understand why she had gotten so upset when she saw George. They were best friends, so why did it seem like they were both upset with each other?
Theo bought her two sugar quills, and a package of Droobles Best Blowing Gum. He had gotten an assortment of other things, for Christmas presents, he informed her. Which then, of course, made Juliet realize she hadnât gotten any presents as of yet. She would have to remind Remus to take her.
He held her hand as they walked back to the castle, his warmth welcomed as the wind picked up. By the time she made it back to the castle, her thighs were red from the cold.
âI shouldâve given you my robe,â Theo blushed, scratching the back of his neck. âSorry.â
âDonât worry about it,â Juliet looked up at him, smiling. âI shouldâve probably worn jeans or something.â
âI quite liked the skirt,â Theoâs voice was low, and he eyed her up and down. âYou are positively gorgeous, you know.â
They were alone in the corridor outside the Slytherin common room, and it seemed both of them were much aware of that fact. Theo cupped her cheek, tilting her head up slightly. He pressed his lips against hers, his lips still sweet from the chocolate frog he had eaten on their way back. Juliet reached a hand to the back of his head, tangling her fingers in the light brown strands that brushed his neck. His lips moved against hers, his tongue tracing her bottom lip. His hand stayed against her cheek, keeping her head tilted upwards.Â
âBloody hell, save it for somewhere other than the hallway!âÂ
Juliet and Theo broke apart, their cheeks red from the lingering cold and embarrassment, to see Draco rolling his eyes while Pansy glared at Juliet with odd anger.
âSorry, mate,â Theo apologized, although there was little sincerity behind it. âTo be fair, this hallway was private until you two showed up.â
Draco shook his head, and he and Pansy entered the common room. Juliet and Theo entered next, and Juliet excused herself to go get ready for the meeting with Dumbledoreâs Army.
The feeling of Theoâs lips lingered on her own, and for a reason she couldnât fathom she felt slightly upset by the thought that he had taken her first kiss.

Since I'm not sure I want to write new, full Fanfictions right now (I'm already working on a Good Omens one) I'm just gonna post some Star Wars/ Dinluke headcanons and prompts and ask you guys if you want me to flesh them out.
PART 1:
Their meeting and the events on board of Moff Gideon's light cruiser change things quite radically for both Din Djarin and Luke Skywalker. On Din's side, without the child actively in his care he is left without a proper goal and without a proper path. He can't go back being a simple bounty hunter, mostly because the ones he did it for are gone...
So what now? He always knew he would do anything to bring Grogu's mission to a proper end but he never actually thought of what would happen after. Nor did he immagine that it would leave him so shattered, broken and lonely.
Is it stubborn denial that his business with the child is over that makes him investigate further about the matter? A part of him wants to believe that yes, yes it is, but something about it just doesn't sit right with him. As Dr. Pershing is brought back as a prisoner to New Republic forces he is thoughtfully interrogated about his work and his part in the operations of the empirial cell. The man doesn't give his interrogators a hard time, answering everything as honestly as he can, but doesn't seem to know much afterall. Din can't help but feel somewhat sorry for him: he was taught cloning engineering by the last Kaminoans alive, apparently another species the Empire had decided were better off exterminated and forgotten after fulfilling their purpose. Except they hadn't, not completely, and now experts on the subject were even more rare than beskar. The Dr. was one of them and his knowledge and capacity was the only thing keeping him alive after the empirials sought him out. Whether or not he had any real sympathy for the imps was rather irrelevant and they were his one remaining shot at doing his actual job (there wasn't really a high demand for clones nowadays). He followed Moff Gideon's orders but he knew that the orders were actually coming from much higher up. Who was pulling the strings and what they ultimately wanted, he didn't know. They didn't trust him with those informations. All he knew was that they needed him to create a body with the kid's life expectancy and his M count. They had kidnapped and experimented on other force sensitive children but none of them seemed to have Grogu's qualities and were disposed of. When the guard told him to stand up to be brought back to his cell, the doctor looked at Din and asked "Is the child safe?" "Yes, he is." Answered the mandalorian and the other nodded exhausted "Good, that's good. Thank you." Din nodded back to him and watched him leave.
The only reason Din had been allowed to follow the interrogation was obviously Cara Dune, which had delivered Dr. Pershing and Gideon to the authorities. Cara was however busy talking with someone he didn't know, another woman, a very elegant and majestic one at that. He couldn't help but notice the friendly and intimate tone the conversation seemed to have. Cara later introduced her to him as senator Leia Organa -Solo, a legend of the Rebellion and the Princess of Aldeeran. Suddenly the two's steadyfast bond became very clear. Apparently, the Senator found the story about the two prisoners extremely distressing and had already "her best man" look into it. She spoke very kindly to Din and, as a true politician, thanked him for his services to the Republic. Din quickly changed subject and asked if Moff Gideon had revealed anything more useful than the doctor.
As expected, Gideon hadn't been as collaborative and hadn't spoken a word since he was brought in. Something in his demeanor, however, had definitely shifted and below the ever guarded and secure facade there was worry. 'That's the face of a man in deep shit! We aren't the ones he's scared of though, one can only guess what makes a guy like him fret like that...' said Cara without bothering to hide her worry.
That was the reason why Din, in the little breakes he stole from the collaboration he had fallen into with Bo-Katan and the other mandalorians, kept searching for answers. The something or someone that scared Gideon had to mean danger. And if there was danger out for Grogu it would ALWAYS be his business.
That's when he realized who the princess' "best man" was. Luke Skywalker had apparently been searching for answers too and it's during one of these occasions that they newly meet. They have a common goal and pupil to protect but very diverse skill sets and areas of expertise. That's why on the hush-hush they agree to meet occasionally when either of them seems to have some new information or lead. Neither of them properly introduces to the other, there's really no need for that, and their partnership remains for some time elusive at best. Din is a naturally secretive and private man, the Jedi on the other hand, seems to have become it, a necessity rather than an inclination. Luke doesn't ever bring Grogu along nor does he mention him, after assuring the other that the child is safe and well. Din doesn't ask. And yet, the most restless one of the two about it is the Jedi. Just like Luke can feel Din's ever present affection and sense of duty toward Grogu, Din can sense that the other is very uneasy on the matter, like two parts of him are constantly battling over something. Again, he doesn't ask.
Despite all this, however, their relationship is far from strained. There is a mutual and instinctive trust and respect between them and it becomes quickly very clear that they work well together. During the nights they have to camp or during the trip in hyperspace the two talk. They discuss about their dying creeds, their principals and beliefs, fighting techniques and recount some of their old adventures. After a while, they open up enough to discuss of their situation and daily challenges and earnestly seek the other's opinion and advice on how to face them.
Din learns that Luke is still a figure on which the New Republic sometimes relies upon, even if only for extremely delicate situations; that he spent the last few years travelling throughout the galaxy looking for lost Jedi artifacts and knowledge, hoping to learn how to best bring the order back to life for new generations of force users (expecially his young nefew); that during said travels he always made a point to help those in need and right wrongs where he saw them; that he still found himself dealing with loose ends of the Empire.
On the other hand, Luke learns of Bo-Katan's quest to reclaim Mandalore; of Din's search for knowledge and history on a culture that should be his own but that he progressively realizes he knows very little about; of his uncertainty on where he stands both with his creed and his peers and the aggravation of the dark saber which he is currently the wielder and protector of.
They feel for each other. No, they understand each other. Even as words completely fail to reveal the most critical parts of these conversations. What they do understand is this: nothing seems to make anymore any fuc****ng sense in their lives! That everything was much more simple when they were just a bounty hunter and a farm boy.
It's not that Din doesn't want to find other Mandalorians and help his people. He and Bo-katan may not always see eye to eye, but they both made extremely clear how loyal they are to their creed. It's just that Din doesn't know anymore if he still has a right to that title and to the armour he wears, if everything he was taught was a lie or not. He broke a lot of rules for the child and can't decide if that is for the best or not.
Luke, on the other hand, can't decide what to make of the Jedi teachings and contradictions he has collected. How can he act like expected and pass on lessons he himself isn't really sold on. It was his family and his ties that kept him alive and safe from the dark when facing the Emperor and his father, but it was also attachments and the Jedi's taboos that had damned his father to begin with. Should he encourage the complete detachment the old texts preached about, should he too talk only of light and cast a shadow on everything that didn't fall in that limited range of the force? But most importantly: should he keep his young apprentice from his beloved father and pointedly ignore the warm flame the mandalorian had effortlessly lit up in him?
Luke can't help but notice that when he slips and gets a bit too close, a bit too intimate and touchy with the other man, the mandalorian doesn't push him away and seems to answer this boldness with an awkward, shy breathlessness. While a part of him knows, Luke doesn't allow himself to hope or acknowledge that flicker in his chest might be mutual.

Rereading Korosuu Chapter 4 (the ChibaHaya chapter) from the perspective that Hayami has feelings for Chiba
And boy, is it a ride.
Check out the previous post
Listen, Iâm a big ChibaHaya shipper but I never believed they liked each other romantically in canon. One of things I like the most about their dynamic is how great they are even without the typical shippy stuff like blushing, stammering etc. They work well both platonically and romantically.
So I never tried to go MiDDLe ScHOoL cHiBaHaYa is CanOn but then I read the Chinese translation Ch4 of Korosuu. And boy oh boy did it make me think Hayami has â¨feelings⨠for Chiba. (And he doesnât.) I literally did not expect that, but once I saw things from that perspective, I canât stop lol.
Keep in mind Iâm analysing a Japanese -> Chinese translation in English, and I donât have the Japanese raws, so the word choices may be off. And I am probably overanalysing but yes, I will eat these ChibaHaya crumbs for the tiniest bit of information.
Also keep in mind manga Chiba is more social than Hayami (you can check Fumikoâs posts for more information, sheâs the Chiba expert haha). So while these two may have the same responses (eg. smiling because of what the other said), it weighs differently.
So Hayami was originally going home, but stopped when she saw Chiba trying to figure out a problem. And so she helped him pump the balloons to act as Chibaâs targets. They discussed for a bit, then they both said they were surely getting closer to their âanswerâ.
And then they both smiled. The translation is âéć°´é˛é˝čçŹăĺčäšĺ䝼垎çŹăâ which is âHayami grinned, and Chiba returned with a smileâ. But notably, the translator used âé˛é˝čçŹâ (literally: grinning with teeth) for Hayami and just âçŹâ (smile) for Chiba. âçŹâ and â垎çŹâ (which also means smile, but a little softer) are used five times in total, and considering theyâre interchangeable in Chinese, the translator probably used them to add variety. But âé˛é˝čçŹâ? Thatâs different. Thatâs the only time the translator used this term to describe someone smiling. And âgrinning (with teeth)â feels more joyful than âsmilingâ. And itâs used to describe Hayamiâs reaction.
Hmm.
By the way, letâs count how many times they smiled in this chapter. Hayami smiled 3 times, Chiba also 3. And literally every time they smile itâs in response to something the other did/said. Chiba smiles more than Hayami in the manga, so the fact that Hayami is smiling so much in front of Chiba... hmmm...
As mentioned before, Hayami stuttered when Chiba praised her. In the translation, she barely stuttered anywhere else. Hmm.
After a very long time, Chiba lifted his head and turned to Hayami.
âHayami, youâre brilliant! So it was like this all along! Why have I never noticed something so simple?â
âWh-what?â
Yeah. She stuttered after Chiba called her brilliant/amazing.
And then, of course, the most telling paragraph follows.
Hayami felt bewildered upon seeing the suddenly agitated Chiba. Even though she had always been looking at him in E class, she hardly recalled seeing him so delighted.
She had always been looking at him. Whoa.
The Chinese translation is âéçśä¸ç´ĺ¨Eççčäťâ, special focus on âä¸ç´â (always) and âçâ (look). Like, okay, it could mean âfrom her daily observations, she didnât recall seeing such an expressionâ or âlooking after himâ or âknowing him from schoolâ but this phrasing just makes me think sheâs staring at him in class. And you know what, Chiba actually sits behind Hayami in another row. So she has to turn around to âlookâ at him, which is a deliberate action. Of course the translation used âE classâ, which also means training and other misc stuff and not just conventional lessons.
Either way, sheâs been observing him. Sheâs ALWAYS been observing him. Continuously. And she knows sheâs never seen him so joyful. And the translator (and maybe Matsui?) felt the urge to point it out.
After complimenting Hayami, Chiba proceeds to explain his new theory. And thus the passage:
âSo what do you think?â
Chiba turned to Hayami, a smile quirking on his lips. He lightly prodded the pages of his notebook with his mechanical pencil.
âThatâs brilliant!â Hayami also used an excited tone to reply as she looked down at the diagram.
âIf you werenât there, I probably wouldnât have thought of it. Even though itâs really simple once you notice it...â
Hayami used a smile to respond to his words.
The word âäšâ (also) is used in Hayamiâs happy response to China. Granted, it may be a translator thing, to add word variety and connectives, but the sentence makes perfect sense without the äš.
From this we can infer Hayamiâs mood is affected by Chibaâs, and probably vice versa, but Hayamiâs case is specifically mentioned.
Next day, Chiba stays behind to practice again. And he looks sad because heâs failing.
Hayami thinks âI suppose even people like Chiba will feel uneasy when thinking about official operationsâ (ä¸ćŚč¨ćłćŁĺźčĄĺďźĺłä˝żćŻĺčé樣çäşşéĄäšććĺ°ä¸ĺŽĺ§ă) This makes me !!!! because it sort of implies Hayami thought Chiba wonât be nervous. She thought of him in a positive light, only for him to disprove it. Also, the use of âĺ§â. âĺ§â is commonly used in dialogue, so here it implies Hayami is thinking the whole line despite the lack of speech bubbles, not some omniscient narrator saying it.
Then Hayami tries to encourage him.
âRelax. If you think itâs right, then it has to be.â
âEven though hearing you say that makes me happy...â
^ this is one of the most mutual shippy moments in my opinion. Hayami has total faith and trust in Chiba, and Chiba literally told her that her trust in him makes him happy. It just feels... kinda shipbaity. The sentence structure âéçśä˝ é麟說čŽćĺžéĺżĺâŚâŚâ (Even though hearing you say that makes me happy...) feels like something out of a romance novel (especially in Chinese), even though the words donât exactly have a romantic meaning.
Chiba says Hayamiâs words makes him âhappyâ, but heâs still troubled by the shooting problem. Hayami trusting Chiba despite Chiba not trusting himself makes him happy. Oho. That... can be interpreted in a shippy way.
When Hayami sees that Chiba is still troubled, she ânonchalantlyâ says âto fill in the gaps using intuitionâ (çčçĄćłćśé¤ä¸ĺŽć
çˇçĺčďźéć°´čĽçĄĺ
śäşĺ°čŞŞăâçĄćłç˘şĺŽçĺ°ćšďźç¨ç´čŚşĺĄŤčŁĺ°ąĺĽ˝äşĺ˛ăâ)
I believe thereâs a typo here, since the next line is âĺč帜čç襨ć
ćŹé çčéć°´â, which is âChiba lifted his head to look at Hayami with a xxx expressionâ. So the translator accidentally left out his expression (the sentence doesnât make sense otherwise), but we can easily infer Chibaâs feelings from the following lines.
Chiba basically thinks âIntuition? What? Sheâs talking about things unrelated to this shooting problem again.â He doesnât say it out loud (no speech bubbles), but he probably shows his doubt through his facial expression that the translator unfortunately left out.
And Hayami wants to prove him wrong.
So Hayami roughly glanced around the classroom, and quietly uttered, âVase, tape, Korosensei.â
Before Chiba could ask âwhat are you talking about?â, Hayami swiftly pulled out a pistol from her thigh and shot three bullets with surprising speed.
Hayami hits all three targets without aiming precisely. Naturally, Chiba is in awe, calling it a âmiracleâ. Chiba says even though he, out of everyone in 3-E. can shoot the furthest target using calculations, he canât imitate Hayamiâs perceptual(?) type of shooting.
And then:
Hayami shot a stunned Chiba a smile.
The word for âstunnedâ (çŽçŞĺŁĺ) literally means âeyes wide, mouth frozenâ, but thatâs just a Chinese phrase for being stunned.
Honestly, to me, I feel:
Hayami wants to help Chiba -> Chiba is in doubt -> Hayami wants to prove him wrong and show off -> she quickly shoots her targets based on intuition/emotion, not even waiting to hear what Chiba has to ask -> (she wants to show off lol) -> when she sees heâs in awe, she smiles (smugly?)
ALSO, Hayami may have gained confidence after Chiba praised her by saying sheâs brilliant, and that may be why she shot so quickly (since the adrenaline rush or something.)
Hayami then says something:
âAnd if at that time, youâre not confident in your theories, in the end, Iâll still shoot according to my gut feelings. (Basically saying if you canât do it, I can do it for you.) We can do what the other cannot do. If we team up and become partners, thereâs no target we cannot hit.â
Chiba gazed at Hayamiâs face for a moment, then smiled and said, âThanks.â
Wow. What surprised me is that Hayamiâs the one with the speechâ sheâs the more serious and reserved out of the two. For her to say something so âsentimentalâ when sheâs usually like âI respect youâ, wow...
By the way, âĺčŚâ (gaze) is used. It can mean stare, but it usually means gaze. Also he gazed at her face (č). This is specifically mentioned. Mmmmm.
And I canât get over âĺ°ĺ
Šč
ĺçşä¸éŤç芹ä¸ĺŽč˝é ĺŠĺ°é˛čĄâ. It means âif we combine two into one, itâll definitely proceed smoothlyâ. Theyâre... MERGING lmao. Itâs so shipbaity.
Thereâs also more stuff, like how they agree on something without speaking, but thatâs... typical ChibaHaya stuff. And thatâs it.
SO:
Possible hints of Hayamiâs feelings towards Chiba:
1. Hayami immediately helped Chiba with practice even though she was intending to go home
2. SHE LOOKS AT HIM IN CLASS. Bro. I canât make this up.
3. Hayami is happy when Chiba is
4. SHE STUTTERED WHEN HE SAID SHEâS BRILLIANT
5. She wanted to prove him wrong by showing off (this is a stretch)
6. She low-key put him on a pedestal (?) because she thought he wonât be nervous (this is also a stretch)
Possible hints of Chibaâs feelings towards Hayami:
1. He was very noticeably happy, perhaps a side he only shows to people close to him
2. Chiba says Hayami praising him makes him happy
3. He gazed at her face. Yes, her face.
But I donât think Chiba likes Hayami that way. Like, he didnât stutter when she praised him, he just said heâs happy. Hayami is usually very chill and calm, and even quieter than Chiba, so when she stutters because of Chiba, hmm...
Of course all of this is immediately disproven by the mini comic, with Ritsu claiming they reply to their emails a day late and their heart rates donât go up when next to each other. Psssh. Okay, Ritsu. I mean, we can always hc Ritsu is protecting her friendsâ privacy by lying about them. And of course Chiba and Hayami can stay as purely friends. I like their dynamic either way.
This concludes my rambling overanalysis of them. If you read till this point, I congratulate you <3 also reblogs appreciated :DD

Jaimeâs not a rapist, so stop claiming he is
I got this ask last year about forgetting that Jaime raped Cersei in the show, and in the comments someone recently said this:
Book Jaime also raped Cersei. Jaime is a rapist.
To which I replied:
no, actually, he didnât. their relationship plays with consent within its confines but itâs consensual all the way. Jaimeâs a lot of shitty things but a rapist he is not.
Then, that person said:
Cersei saying no and Jaime having sex with her anyway definitely seems like rape to me, whether she gave in at the end or not since we donât see it from her perspective. And thereâs also her thinking of Jaime as a âman not to be deniedâ who will take what he wants no matter how many noâs he hears until sheâs saying yes as well. Which sounds less like kinky sex and more like coercion to me.
Me:
if you think Jaimeâs the one coercing Cersei in their relationship then I suggest you do a good long in-depth reread of the books. GRRM literally *didnât write them as rape scenes*. Itâs a dynamic in their relationship that plays with consent but *itâs just pretend*. If Cersei genuinely meant no, she would 1000% make it clear & Jaime would respect that. (Which Cersei *doesnât* do when Jaime says no, choosing to insult him. Again: reread the books please.)
What I mean by â[i]f Cersei genuinely meant no, she would 1000% make it clear & Jaime would respect thatâ is that she would walk away or push him away or use a safe word/phrase. And she wouldnât just make it clear to Jaime, sheâd make it clear to us, the audience.
Them:
âA hundred times I told him no, and he said yes,â the other woman told her, âuntil finally I was saying yes as well. He was not the sort of man to be denied.â âI know the sort,â the queen said with a wry smile. âHas Your Grace ever known a man like that, I wonder?â âRobert,â she lied, thinking of Jaime.
^^^^ That right there (and the infamous âno our dead son is right there and someone might see usâ scene) reads like rape to me whether that was GRRMâs intention or not.
And what does âshe would make it 100% clearâ mean? Was Cersei not raped by her husband (the only other man sheâd ever had sex with besides Jaime before the war starts)? Iâm honestly confused as to what youâre trying to say here. Is Cersei too âstrongâ to be raped? Are you saying itâs not rape bc she didnât fight harder? Bc you know women can be raped through coercion by their partners and not put up much of fight and that itâs still rape, right?
But this might just be a matter of different interpretations of the book so Iâm gonna stop here. But itâs interesting that you immediately jumped to âIf you think Jaimeâs the one coercing Cerseiâ like where did I say that? They are both awful people and their relationship is toxic bc theyâre both awful to each other.
When Cersei says no Jaime thinks itâs a game and fucks her anyway (with no confirmation of this on Cerseiâs side), when Jaime says no Cersei mocks him but she does stop. She also physically assaults him. Is one better than the other? In my opinion, no.
My response:
dude. theyâre NOT both awful to each other. donât minimize the abuse Cerseiâs put him through. Cersei coerced Jaime through sex to give up his claim to Casterly Rock and you want to tell me that something so subjective as Cersei saying no when [safe words] exist and the books were written in a 90s mindset is rape? Jaimeâs not a rapist. youâre entitled to your interpretation, but that doesnât make it right.
also, Cerseiâs not a reliable source of information. sheâs a narcissistic self-[aggrandizing] woman living in a stifling feudal society. itâs quite normal for 1) an abuser to twist the facts 2) a victim to try to reclaim whatever freedom they can in relation to the abusive relationship, whether they realize itâs abusive or not.
ALSO also, you literally said â[w]hich sounds less like kinky sex and more like coercion to me.â so donât pull the âwhere did i say that youâre putting words in my mouthâ shit on me. Iâm tired of people like you thinking you can just spout lies about the books bc your progressive or something. time period context matters and so does educating yourself on abusive relationship dynamics.
We need to have a conversation about how to identify mutual abuse versus a victim of abuse fighting back. Jaime and Cerseiâs relationship is not mutually abusive. Jaime is the sole victim. Does that mean he never did anything nasty to Cersei? No. But that doesnât make him an abuser. Cersei manipulates him into giving up his claim on Casterly Rock; she belittles him after he loses his hand and cheats on him when she expects him to be faithful. Jaime never forces Cersei to give up anything. He never forces her into anything.
You cannot take their sex scenes away from the context of their relationship just to twist it to make Jaime a rapist. Their relationship lived on its illicit nature and playing around with power fantasies.
Studies have shown that victims of abuse may try to gain something back for themselves by turning their abuserâs tactics against them, but that doesnât mean that theyâre also an abuser. Jaime thinks of Cersei as a whore in AFFC because heâs hurt and using his abuserâs tactic of insulting him to fight back. Does that make it alright? No. Does this condemn him? No.
Everyoneâs entitled to their own interpretation, but that doesnât make it the truth.
