May 1st

We report: with the later sunsets, we find ourselves alone in the streets when the sky turns orange. We see people indoors going about their evening while the clouds move westwards, taking the sun with them where we cannot see it. The puddles light up in potholes.

May 4th

We report at the hour when ghosts appear, walking in the middle of the road. It is not enough of a place that we imagine any cars could come by here and now, but we keep listening for them anyway. Instead, we hear echoes of a motorway in the distance, and the wind in our ears.

May 19th

We report: we might go into the clouds and never make it back someday. Nobody would know where we went. We think about it, often, as if it were something that could really happen. Today, we stare up at this massive edifice that encompasses the whole sky, and we are already there.

May 30th

We report: despite wearing long trousers, we have managed to get stung by nettles quite a bit. We accept this fact as part of the spring outing experience. It is a bright day, if slightly hazy above the horizon. There are many bees buzzing all over the wildflowers.

“uh … it’s a bit girly … no?” javier examines himself in the reflection of his knife’s blade, looking this-a way and that, the dark blue of a large silken bow now peeking sheepishly around his neck as it sits gently in his hair. next to him, kieran clams up a smidge, hands still held close to his chest nearby his completed ribbon project on javier’s head. he finds it in himself to wring his hands a time or two rather than immediately undo his work as javier seems to continue to formulate his final opinion. “you … think so? look at me?” kieran asks, politely as a mouse. javier easily complies, turns at his hips and looks behind, up at kieran where he sits on the stump above him.

kieran, as he peers over, can’t help the meadow of flush that blooms over his neck, then his ears, then his nose and his cheeks. he can tell javier is deep in thought by the look on his face, mouth twisted just a might sideways, cocking his mustache awry, and the deep wrinkle sat between his brows. the ribbon he used matches javier’s vest perfectly, and the shine of the silk warms bright in the sun, just like every piece of jewelry and metal javier has adorned himself with. with this ribbon, javier’s hair sits lower on his head, ponytail draped down his nape and more hair framing his face in his bangs. kieran resists an urge to tuck one side back behind his ear.

kieran thinks that he looks like a painting, a muse, a love letter so heartbreakingly full of adoration that the only language it could be written in is bright swipes of pigment on a canvas. as he makes eye contact with the silk squinting around the red of a necktie, he thinks that javier may be right, if ‘girly’ could sum up ’poetry written in effeminate reverence’.

kieran always did think women made better art, wrote better books- found a better way to love. softer. warmer. prettier. like javier.

the world sounds like it’s underwater.

“i think … it’s very pretty. it suits you real well.”

earnest to a fault, the look in kieran’s eye dances gingerly with javier’s internal voice. it dips and sways him, and javier, despite his instinct, finds himself charmed by its rhythm.

“-b-but! i could take it out! if you don’t-“ javier looks down at himself in his knife again, the sunlight filtered through the leaves glinting a yellow green around his dark features, and kieran hands him patience on a silver platter. a rich blue makes friends with bright green quite easy, javier thinks. this is how he must look through kieran’s mossy lens.

“pretty … yes. you know, i think you may be right. i’ll keep it. gracias.”

yknow how i ordered a Solas plush ages ago and then have only met misfortune through the whole process it still hasn't come home?

apparently it arrived in my country's customs center right on the 31st of December, and i got a mail then telling me to pay the customs fee, which i did

... and it seems it has been stuck in the customs center ever since.

every week or so it updates the tracking of the package to say it arrived at the custom center and is being processed to the dispatch center, and then it restarts telling me it just reached the custom center and is processing, and then is to the dispatch center. over and over again.

it's been 22 days now.

And while i really want my plush by now and don't even know who to complain to since it's out of the store's hands,

i also keep thinking about how the misfortune i got with this plush so far are so on brand with Solas

... and the fact i kept jokingly calling the Veil "border patrol" and now my boyfriend is literally stuck behind the border patrol right now. They're spiting me. They locked up my boyfriend behind the Veil. This is Rook's fault somehow.

clari!! idk if you've seen the card but theres one where caleb's like 'why dont you ask me who kept me up all night? are you worried it was you or are you scared it wasnt you?' before he corners mc and i cant stop thinking about it i need him

yes!! i have it!!! i LOVED the tension in that card so, so much. i also love how unbelievably rough caleb is. he really does feel like the type to not realize just how strong he truly is, and to accidentally hurt you more often than he intends to. he’s so big, and although he can move gracefully and swiftly, he still moves powerfully, with strength and vigour and all the brawn of a bull.

but anyway!!! that card made me start writing something with caleb in a kitchen LMAOOOOOO (つω⊂* ) i can’t lie, it reminded me of touya-nii. it reminded me of touya-nii a lot, especially in the beginning stages of his relationship with reader when he oscillates between being very teasing and very aggressive.

Like, it's probably clear at this point what happened, but let me provide the sequence of events just to shed a little light on the meltdown and what it's like being in the group chat right now:

Start reading a shoujo fantasy manga in 2009 (I was a teenager) and very quickly latch onto the B-pairing which is so doomed by the narrative the main character and the male lead kiss and sort of start dating within the first couple volumes, while this second male lead - whose literal name means it is his role in the story to bring these two other characters together against his own interests - silently yearns for the main character who is oblivious, while being the funny guy everyone underestimates, while having a backstory so tragic and violent he wants to spare every other character from it no matter how often he's asked, while being so genre-aware he's practically walking meta

Watch over the years as this shoujo fantasy becomes a slice-of-life about the main character's career as a fantasy pharmacist. The characters are now adults. This main character and the second male lead spend whole arcs together hundreds of miles away from the prince the main character is supposed to be dating. This goes on for YEARS

An anime adaptation goes for two seasons from 2015-2016. The fandom grows. Everyone pities the fans of the B-pairing because this is a shoujo and the A-pairing is already together. The small B-pairing fandom grows nonetheless, starts a Discord, and are viewed as insane people from there on out, which is absolutely true, but still

The manga continues in the meanwhile. After yet another arc where the B-pairing has an adventure together, the author goes on hiatus for 1 year

It's 2024. The manga returns from hiatus, where the first 2 chapters of the new arc immediately address the B-pairing and their circumstances. B-pairing fandom is starting to lose its mind but we are used to setting our expectations low and relying on speculation and fanfiction for romantic developments anyway

September 23rd, the 3rd chapter since the hiatus drops. The main character opines on the strengths and virtues of the second male lead and defends him to a stranger without knowing he's listening in. He drops his impenetrable funny guy/tough guy act, CRIES, and after 130 chapters of silent pining, thinking his presence is unwanted and his feelings are unwelcome which has caused him to always hesitate to even touch her, he hugs her

He asks her to keep his heart, which he means both platonically and, unbeknownst to her, almost certainly romantically. She says she'd like to just keep all of him - forever - and hugs him back

This happens on the first day of the B-pairing's ship week, which will have its 10th anniversary next year

This also happens while the B-pairing fandom is doing a reread of the manga

The B-pairing fandom loses its collective shit

More people are screaming in joy at each other in the Discord voice chat than have ever been in the Discord voice chat at the same time. Everyone feels both drunk and high for days at a time. It is now day 7 and it is still hard to believe this story development actually happened. The current arc has barely started. We are not okay
