Yes! They actually become friends. There is a cutscene shortly after the owlbear has joined the camp where they are sleeping together.

Well... the owlbear cub hasn't eaten anyone so far during Act 1. We will see what happens when it grows bigger Lol But it would be weird if they wrote something like that for the cute adopted pets.

Anyway for the owlbear recruitment everyone should know:

1. avoid confrontation with the mother (pass an animal handling check and then walk away, don't go near them after the mother has told you to f off, don't try to loot nearby corpses, just leave) It's possible to not meet the cub and the mother at all and then you will just meet the cub for the first time in the goblin camp, this shouldn't be a problem. But you will probably run into them and in that case you should avoid the fight.

2. in the goblin camp, talk to the goblins who are playing a game with the cub (the goblin's name is Krolla)

3. now you can "talk" to the owlbear cub (you don't necessarily have to use speak with animals spell/potion, just click on the cub and communicate)

4. talk again to the goblin Krolla. Now there will be an option to say that you will take the cub. Pass an ability check to convince her. Now your character will comment that hopefully the cub can follow our scent to camp.

5. That's it, you did it. It will take a few night (maybe 2) before the cub actually shows up at camp. The cub won't immediately stay. For the first couple of nights, there will be unique scenes where you can interact with the cub. (But at this point the only bad thing you could do is choose to shoo away the cub on purpose.) Eventually the cub stays permanently and you will be able to pet it any time.

Bonus goodness: you will gain companion approval from Shadowheart, Astarion, Wyll and Gale for befriending and petting the cub. (not Lae'zel LOL but she doesn't disapprove)

By the way... owlbear recruitment was bugged for me in this last patch. I did everything the way I always do, my character commented that the cub should follow our scent to camp and yet.. many nights have passed and no owlbear cub. :(((( So I really hope they fix this for the final release. It would be one of the worst things to miss out on the owlbear cub.

EDIT: It's not bugged in patch 9 !!! Owlbear finally showed ip in my camp! However it took way longer than 2 nights, maybe it will be similar in the final release. So be aware that you will have to wait, but if you rescued the cub then it should be fine.

something people don't seem to realize is that once I latch onto a character and begin to project onto them, they become an entirely different entity in my head. If I kin a character, more often than not I'm going to ship them with a character that I have the hots for. That's how 90% of my ships start.

an angle i enjoy in cosmic/eldritch horror is when, instead resorting to the old classic "the horrors being so incomprehensible that they break your brain and drive you mad" cliché, the premise is that in comprehending the horrors you are so changed by the experience that your new state is indistinguishable to an outside observer from madness. you comprehend the unknowable just fine, but actually communicating that to anyone else is impossible because they just don't have the mental framework required to understand it. the eldritch horrors don't drive you mad. what does is the ordinary everyday horror of finding yourself isolated, ridiculed and doubted at every turn, no matter how hard you try to make yourself heard and understood.

All voices have scars of how Long Quiet died on first chapter. (well most of scar they could get), except Hero.

Broken's tears won't stop flowing.

Oppie always hide his death scars on his chest all the time with his arms. doesn't dare showing his weakness.

Smitten have his eyes close all the time. as in "blind" devotion.

Oppie and Cheated doesn't like hug, They are afraid of getting backstabs, but is comfy enough with Hero. (They need it.)

One of my favourite memories of training is when something came up and I needed to leave a doll alone for a little while

Of course my little Tsundere first rejoiced in her break from her duties of looking cute for me, the cameras I’ve got set up confirmed that much

But it was first quite surprising that she didn’t make any escape attempts, though the amount of blackmail I’ve gathered does make that the logical choice

But then what took me really of guard was what she did when fully alone

She always wore the most masculine clothes we have for the first while, some booty-shorts and a T-shirt that says princess, she decided to wear inside out

But still each morning she spent just a little bit more time inside the closet, I see how she keeps glancing at our adorable dresses, she keeps feeling out all the wonderfully soft skirts, how she glances at the drawer where I keep the little bows I always put up in her hair,

always just a little longer each day

And then a couple days pass, and she no longer wears her adorable shirts inside out, instead showing off the beautiful prints to the mirror she keeps staring in

And a couple more days pass and she’s ran out of clean shorts again, and she’s tired and lazy, and it’s not like anyone’s watching so she might as well grab a skirt instead of washing them all again

And the next day she realises just how much better her outfit looks if she’d just put in a single hairclip

And the next she realises that while she’s at it why not do a little make-up?

And by the time I’m back she looks cuter then I’ve ever made her, and the look on her face when I say that… I wouldn’t trade it on the world, she got pinker then her dress, one I can firmly remember her saying “she’d rather die then wear”
