these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! aries: in a way, your ruling planet mars is a bit watered down in cancer and especially so this week with the aspects it's making. but this doesn't put out your fire, it puts you in touch with your emotions! acting on them responsibly is the key to not losing your mind, or your footing.

taurus: the start of scorpio season highlights your partnerships and commitments. while it may not be a great period for forming new ones, it is a really good time to solidify existing ones. it's also a good idea this week to bring things to an end that have run their course.

gemini: these are not easy vibes for you to tap into, unless you also happen to be quite a watery individual. especially with the sun leaving libra, the air vibe decreases and the chatty, social aura dissipates into something more serious, deeper. what you can continue to hold on to is the fact that the only constant is change - this is a mutable time and you are a mutable creature.

cancerians: kick off scorpio season by doing what makes you happy. if small talk won't cut it for you, don't waste your time on it. if a social outing sounds tedious or painful, you can stay home! people may think it's a little odd, but following your bliss, especially now, is a major key to success, in any arena.

leo: it's a really good period, especially after the sun starts to settle into scorpio season, to really make your home a sanctuary and spend some time there even if you do have a lot of bustling around to do. the recharging at a home base is a critical component of productivity and enjoying life!

virgo: i really think a sadly neglected part of astrology, and sometimes life in general, is connection to the local community and a good bond with the people in your immediate vicinity. this week is a very auspicious time for these bonds, and this community! your saintly spirit may be extra at-home doing some local volunteer work especially.

libra: the vibes are really such that you may meet a soul mate (romantically or otherwise) just going about your daily business, especially if you are willing to deviate slightly from your routines. at the grocery store, on a walk, a new neighbor moving in, etc.

scorpio: the quality of this time is not only very watery but also very scorpionic, especially due to the ingress of the sun into your sign and the beginning of scorpio season. you're not always fond of being the center of attention but for now it really pays off to try to enjoy the limelight.

sagittarius: such intense water vibes can feel really suffocating to a fire sign like you, but fortunately a leo moon and a lot of mutable energy at that can help you prevent yourself from getting too bogged down. take an active role in staying light and free by getting up and moving all week, whether by sports, dancing, or just going out to chat with friends.

capricorn: broadly speaking, a lot goes well for you this week and you get a significant amount of support in any relationship or partnership you are hoping to develop. if you don't have a particular one in mind, it might be a good time to seek one.

aquarius: while the vibes are not exactly comfortable for you they are at least supportive and bringing growth without necessarily being actually painful or agitating. especially a beneficial interaction between mars and uranus this week helps you make changes to the things that really matter to you. you may need to leave your comfort zone to make it work, but it is safe to do so.

pisces: if you have had any long distance travel, academic pursuits, or philosophical/spiritual development on your mind, this week is the perfect time to work on or complete that! especially in the second half of the week. it would be auspicious to buy a plane ticket, apply for a degree program, or read some manner of holy scripture. whatever floats your boat.

Enery Update: Mars Retrograde 2024-2025

From December 6, 2024 to February 26, 2025, Mars will retrograde from 06° Leo to 17° Cancer. As this is a personal planet retrograde and it encapsulates most of our winter holiday season, it is a fairly long term aspect that we should all keep our eyes on.

The SetUp

Due to its position in our solar system (close to the Earth but past its position relative to the Sun), Mars is the planet that goes retrograde the least frequently, roughly every 26 months. Although we know that its backward motion is an illusion, astrology always views planets in their relationship to our home, the Earth. When a planet moves in retrograde motion, it retraces its steps through the horoscope wheel, repeating degrees that it has recently passed through. This creates an opportunity for a cosmic do-over as the world experiences these repeating degrees thrice: once when the planet enters its pre-retrograde shadow, a second time during the retrograde, and a third time after it stations direct once more in its post-retrograde shadow. This puts intense emphasis on these areas of life represented both by where it falls in the horoscope wheel and how it interacts with every person’s natal birth chart.

Mars is our planet of action. It is the planet that governs our drive and our energy levels. It rules the sign of Aries and the 1st house and co-rules the sign of Scorpio and the 8th house, along with the planet Pluto. We all have Mars placed somewhere in our charts. This placement shows what motivates us and how we go out and get what we want. Mars is also considered to be the Lesser Malefic in Traditional Astrology because it governs anger and strife. Mars needs a purpose – generally to move forward and accomplish a goal – or else it can easily become a bad actor.

When Mars moves in retrograde motion, it moves backward through the horoscope wheel. This is unfortunate as Mars prefers to gain and improve constantly. Retrograde planetary motion is all about looking back over the path that has been traveled and making the necessary changes to correct course. Some Mars placements (Virgo, for example) tend to be more comfortable with this than others. The big flex is to lean into the energy of this retrograde energy and work with it rather than against it.

As this Mars retrograde stretches from 06° Leo back to 17° Cancer, it crosses from a fixed sign back into a cardinal sign. Mixed sign retrogrades are more challenging to understand until you have a good grasp of astrology. What I want you to understand right now is that this retrograde will affect people with personal planets between 00-06° and people with personal planets between 17-29°.

This Mars retrograde will most strongly affect the following groups in the order written. Remembering, this is a compounding effect; the more categories you meet, the stronger the retrograde will be.

Those born with Mars from 00-06° Leo or 17-29° Cancer, and all Aries and Scorpio Sun, Moon, Ascendant, or Mars

Those with Mars in Cancer or Leo that do not meet the above degrees

Anyone with a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) from 00-06° Taurus or Scorpio (square) or Aquarius (opposition), or 17-29° Aries and Libra (square) or Aquarius (opposition)

Anyone with a person planet from 00-06° Aries or Sagittarius, or 17-29° Scorpio or Pisces (trine)

Anyone with a personal planet from 00-06° Gemini or Libra, or 17-29° Taurus or Virgo (sextile)

Anyone with Mars in the 1st House or Mars conjunct their Natal Sun

Keep in mind here that as a personal planet, Mars’ retrograde will impact everyone to a greater or lesser degree, and it will impact our daily lives as a collective as well. You can determine what area of life Mars will impact by looking at the retrograde and how it relates to your chart by sign, house, aspect, and degree.

The Nitty Gritty

I want to reiterate from the start that although traditional astrology says that retrogrades are Bad and Mars retrogrades, in particular, are bad, this is not a foregone conclusion. Retrogrades are a change in the energy output of the planet in motion, and it takes clever awareness to adapt and work with rather than against this energy. Mars retrogrades tend to be the most challenging for humans for one simple reason – humans are, on average, very adverse and reactive to change. Mars wants to charge forth and exert its will upon the world, whereas Mars’s retrograde moments tend to call for pauses and reflection before action.

It is to our advantage that this Mars retrograde coincides with Fallowtide and the retreating of the light. It is disadvantageous that it coincides with our greater holiday season with all of its rushing and potential family disputes.

There are some almost inevitable truths to a Mars retrograde cycle: anything that requires action (be it your job, physical exertions of all kinds, the court systems, etc.) will move much slower than average. There will inevitably be people who can’t handle this slow-down and will lean into emotional reactivity and violence. Along with Venus, Mars is one of our relationship planets, so its retrograde can lead to relationship issues and breakups. (it’s worth noting here that Venus will retrograde as well in the coming spring, which will exasperate relationship issues as these two retrograde cycles overlap with one another)

Mars retrograde cycles tend to illuminate the areas of our lives where we are not getting what we want. This may be because of misplaced goals or poorly thought-through strategies. Or, quite simply, life isn’t fair, and effort rarely equals payout. Mars retrogrades show us how we and our Others react when we are stymied. It may lead to pessimism or depression in those prone, especially as this cycle coincides with our dark season, so stay aware and practice the self-care necessary to weather this rough transit if necessary.

In particular, this retrograde cycle crosses from our fixed fire sign, Leo, backward into our cardinal water sign, Cancer. Immature Mars in Leo energy can be egotistic and self-serving; immature Mars in Cancer tends towards emotional manipulation to get what they want or need. These will be the two battles of this retrograde season. Immature Mars in Leo energy says, “I deserve this,” and immature Cancer energy says, “And I will do what I must to keep this.”

I intentionally use the word immature here because there is a mature form to both of these energies, and discovering this is part of Mars in retrograde energy. Mature Mars in Leo energy is “We ALL deserve this and I will work to make that happen,” and mature Cancer energy is “When we work together to accomplish our goals, we both win.” I also want to reiterate here that we all exhibit immature behaviors now and then, which doesn’t make us bad people. We are all imperfect human beings. The goal with retrogrades like this is to recognize when we are being immature or unfair to others, and to course correct.

As mentioned above, retrogrades all happen in three phases: the pre-retrograde shadow, the retrograde proper, and the post-retrograde shadow. This can explained through the silly analogy of falling in a hole:

Oh no, I fell into this hole! I didn’t know that it was there. There was no way of avoiding it! (pre-retrograde shadow)

Oh SHIT! Did I just fall into that same fucking hole? I should learn to avoid that. (retrograde)

(and hopefully) Oh hey – look at that hole! I don’t need to fall in that – I can walk around it. (post-retrograde shadow)

In this way, many people will face a lesson somewhere in their lives around the themes of the specific retrograde. Of course, whether they learn from it depends on many factors, such as general awareness, ability to think critically, and general maturity level. A person who isn’t willing to change will never get much from a retrograde cycle; on the other hand, someone who is open and willing to look critically at themselves and their own actions may gain a great deal.

Mars makes several aspects to our outer planets, the lunar nodes, and our asteroid Chiron, which shows that this will likely be an especially momentous retrograde for many. During this journey, Mars in Cancer will sextile Uranus in Taurus, trine Neptune in Pisces, and square Chiron thrice and trine Saturn in Pisces twice. Additionally, Mars will oppose Pluto thrice (once in Cancer and twice in Leo) and trine the North Node thrice (twice in Leo and once in Cancer).

This switchover between signs is especially important here. While Mars is moving backward between Cancer and Leo, Pluto is entering Aquarius for good, and our lunar nodes are switching from the Aries-Libra axis to Pisces-Virgo. This is part of a greater story evolving throughout 2025 as both Neptune and Uranus will also change signs. We can see that the cosmic pause of this Mars retrograde is likely necessary because everyone on Earth is undergoing a drastic shift in energy. We need the space to realign, even if it doesn’t fit our perfectly crafted 5-year plan.

If you aren’t where you thought you’d be during this Mars retrograde, know you are right on time. Pay attention to what is going on around you and discern if perhaps it is where you are meant to be and you just haven’t realized it yet.

Some big changes may be in order; there is no denying that. But holding on (the immature Mars in the Cancer specialty) doesn’t really keep things the same, even when we want it to.

If you want to do magic to help with this retrograde, I would encourage work around Pathfinding and Discernment. When the roads fade away, you may need to pave your own or hedge-trim your way through life until the way becomes clear.

During the past weeks, Aquarius season invited us to think beyond ourselves and beyond the present moment. This time of year urged us to challenge the status quo, create the future we aspire to experience, and be aware of our role and impact in our communities and larger ecosystems. Aquarius season brought our focus on our deconditioning and personal transformation journey while also emphasizing the acceleration of the pace of collective evolution after Pluto’s recent ingress into the sign.

The Sun’s transit through Pisces shifts the focus from the intellect to the heart, from the desire to understand and innovate to the need to feel, release control, and surrender to what Life is asking of us. The start of Pisces season inaugurates a period of transition, closure, and liminality. As the Astrological year comes to an end, we are invited to make space for new beginnings by letting go of everything that has lost meaning, that no longer serves us, or that doesn’t support our growth and evolution.

During Pisces season 2025, the first Eclipse season of the calendar year takes place. In the upcoming weeks, we are going to experience a New Moon in Pisces and a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo.

Despite not being an Eclipse, the Pisces New Moon taking place on February 27 is said to open the Eclipse portal, as it is the New Moon that precedes the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo. This event begins a lunar month centered around deepening our relationship with the mystery and learning to bridge the transcendental and the mundane, Spirit and matter. The Sun and the New Moon will square Jupiter in Gemini and trine Mars in Cancer. The square to Jupiter can help us gain awareness of where we may be overextending ourselves or scattering our energy while the trine to Mars supports our ability to act in alignment with our emotions and needs.

On March 14, the first Eclipse of the season takes place, which is also the first Eclipse in Virgo since 2016. As we keep walking our spiritual path and deepening our trust in ourselves, our intuition, and Life, this event reminds us of the importance of keeping our feet on the Earth. Conjunct with the South Node and tightly opposing Saturn in Pisces, this Eclipse is an opportunity for deep emotional purging, an invitation to explore any resistance to feeling and fears of vulnerability, and a chance to release habits, behaviors, beliefs, and ways of being that don’t support our physical, mental, and emotional health.

Pisces Season 2025 and the Final Sun-Neptune Conjunction

As we navigate the oceanic waters of Pisces season, we are reminded that our inner world shapes our outer reality and the energy we cultivate within ripples into the collective field. This is a time to reflect on how our thoughts, emotions, and intentions influence not only our personal reality but also the world around us.

On March 19, we are going to experience the final Sun-Neptune conjunction in Pisces of our lifetime, since Neptune is going to be in Aries during Pisces season 2026. This year, the Sun and Neptune meet on 29º36’ of Pisces, the last degree of the sign and of the entire Zodiac.

This conjunction exponentially amplifies our sensitivity, intuition, and connection to the unseen, and dissolves the boundaries between ourselves and others. It is a powerful invitation to surrender control and trust that, even amidst uncertainty, we are being guided exactly where we need to be.

As a big chapter of our lives comes to an end, we are called to release any illusions, attachments, and outdated ways of being that keep us tied to the past. Of the two larger planets Jupiter is the most positive and moderate. Like Mercury, Jupiter rules half of the mutable signs and occupies a half of the seasons. Mercury occupies the youthful Spring and abundant Summer while Jupiter occupies the hard-working Autumn and scarce Winter. As the planet of growth and fertility, Jupiter ruling over Autumn and Winter signs interests me. While materials are harvested, utilized, and stored away, there is less to work with freely. Western Astrology vs. Vedic Astrology

Hi and welcome! Happy Pride Month for everyone who celebrates that, by the way. Also, I want to say something before I get into the topic. You know I thank you on almost every post I make for the support you give me. I got over 100 followers and over 1000 notes after just a week of posting astrology stuff here on Tumblr. This rapid growth of my Tumblr account really tells me that someone actually can resonate with my observations and that I'm doing the right thing. Now let's get into the topic! This post is going to be about the differences between Western astrology and Vedic astrology and there's a lot of them. I've been studying Vedic astrology for a year now and I can say that both types of astrology make sense and are accurate, but they're also too different from each other. I'm gonna explain further on this post which differences are present here.

Disclaimer: This post will be based on my own opinion only. I don't force anyone to think like me or to follow certain type of astrology and to judge another type of astrology. My goal is to share the knowledge I've gained for years and to expand someone's horizons if it's needed. That's what my Tumblr account is actually about.

Western astrology is a heliocentric type of astrology where the Sun is placed at the center of this system and that's why the Sun represents our zodiac sign. The natal chart of Western astrology looks like a circle and it reminds of the heliocentric system as well. Western astrology is also a geocentric, because those type of astrologers use the horizon of the planet Earth and they analyze each planet's move while looking at the sky. There's 12 zodiac signs and 12 months.

The Western astrology mostly depends on the seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter) and the signs whose season starts at the beginning of the season (Aries starts the spring, Cancer starts the summer, Libra starts the fall and Capricorn starts the winter) are considered as cardinal signs and the leaders of the zodiac.

The fixed signs are the ones which continue the season (Taurus continues the spring, Leo continues the summer, Scorpio continues the fall and Aquarius continues the winter). That's why these signs are always described as stubborn and undesirable for changes.

The mutable signs are type of signs whose season start between the end of the one season and at the beginning on another season. (Gemini ends the spring, Virgo ends the summer, Sagittarius ends the fall and Pisces ends the winter). That's why they're mostly perceived as adaptable to the almost every situation they're into.

The signs in Western astrology are also divided into a fire signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) an earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), an air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) and a water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces). They're also divided into a masculine (fire and air signs) and a feminine signs (earth and water signs).

Keep in mind that Western and Tropical astrology are synonyms, two different words, but have the same meaning. You can use planets from Sun to Pluto in this type of astrology. Same with the house system, such as Placidus or Whole Sign, you can use any other house system you want in Western astrology.

On the other hand, Vedic astrology is based on the fixed stars, constellations or nakshatras. They are all synonyms. There's overall 27 nakshatras with the 12 signs and each sign has three nakshatras. The Moon and Ascendant (Lagna) are the most important things in someone's Vedic birth chart (Rashi chart or D1 chart) and then the Sun comes after when it comes to the importance of planets. The Moon represents our zodiac sign and our birth nakshatra in Vedic astrology, not the Sun. Each planet rules over the three nakshatras in Vedic astrology. Every nakshatra has its own deity, yoni/animal, symbols and planetary ruler.

The signs go 24 degrees backwards in Vedic astrology, but it depends on which Ayanamsa is used. Vedic astrologers mostly use Lahiri which is the classical and the most used Ayanamsa. You can have Taurus Sun in tropical natal chart, but Aries Sun in sidereal natal chart. Or you can have Taurus Sun in both tropical and sidereal natal chart. It's not always black and white. Mind you that Vedic astrology and Sidereal astrology are synonyms too.

Degrees are so important in Vedic astrology, because the planet with the highest degree in our vedic birth chart is one of the most important planets and it represents our life purpose in general. This planet is called Atmakaraka. The planet at the second most highest degree represents our career and profession and it's called as Amatyakaraka. The planet at the lowest degree represents our partner and future spouse and it's called as Darakaraka. The degrees are important here because of the nakshatras too.

This is how the North Indian style of Vedic birth chart looks like. This is a style of vedic birth chart I use the most, 'cause it's the easiest style for me to analyze someone's natal chart.

This is, on the other hand, the South Indian style of the Vedic birth chart. You can use whichever style of the birth chart you want.

Those are the objective differences of the Western and Vedic astrology. Now I want to get into the subjective differences I personally saw while using both types of astrology.

My personal difference between Western and Vedic astrology is that the Western astrology is generalizing and more obvious, while the Vedic astrology is a little bit deeper and more complex. The Sun represents our external presence and how we behave in outside world, maybe that's why the Western astrology is so obvious and why people from the western society are so egocentric and success-oriented generally. Vedic astrology gets more deeper, because the Moon is the most important planet there and it's associated with our inner world, emotions, mind, home etc. The placements from the Vedic birth chart describe more what we are inside, while the Western natal chart describes what we are outside.

Another difference I see is that the Vedic astrology uses religion and mythology, mostly the Hindu one, while the Western astrology doesn't use religion, especially the modern type of the Western astrology. Like I said previously, each nakshatra has its own deity and mythology, while this doesn't apply to the Western astrology at all.

And zodiacs, and mythologies. I'm by no means an expert in all theses subjects, I just dabble for fun. Everything outside of my opinions were found on wiki or other websites devoted to that subject.

If we go by this newspaper clipping from The Boy 2, Brahms birthday could have been Nov. 15th

or, this article could have been published a day or 2 after the event, which could mean his birthday is Nov. 13, 14, or 15th, unfortunately without an exact date i can't do a deeper dive on his star sign, but this puts in right in the middle of Scorpio.

Scorpio is a fixed Negative polarity

In Western astrology, the polarity divides the zodiac in half and refers to the alignment of a sign's energy as either positive or negative, with various attributes associated to them as a result. Now this is where the Rules come in, Brahms star sign, along with possibly being Autistic, makes him a stickler to his set way of life, preferring that others keep to HIS schedule and manor of keeping. But there is still a passiveness that Brahms embodies. As a grown 28 year old man he could easily have left the Heelshire manor, over powered his parents if he was truly trapped in his own hell, but is it one partially of his own making? Why leave when all his needs are taken care of? Why seek out companionship if his parents can just hire one for him to voyeuristically watch from behind the walls?

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto (classically Mars)

The assignments of the ruling planets appear to be based upon the Northern Hemisphere seasons. The discovery of planets outside of the geocentric field of vision in modern times provided a dilemma for astrologers, which most eventually resolved by a consensus declaring Uranus to be Aquarius' ruling planet while assigning Neptune to Pisces and later, Pluto, considered the higher octave of Mars, was given to Scorpio.

Pluto is the god of the Underworld in Roman mythology. Pluto chose never to sit on Olympus with the other gods and goddesses, preferring to remain in the Underworld. Kidnapped by Pluto and made a virtual prisoner, she was forced to spend three (some claim six) unhappy months a year in the Underworld; the remainder of the year was spent on earth as the goddess of vegetation.

Now that is an interesting coincidence, many of Pluto's choices mirror Brahms if you consider his attic room as a sort of underworld he ruled free from his parents and kept him from the rest of the world. As I have mentioned in another post, i found an excerpt from the painting, the garden of earthly delights, specifically a cropped section featuring a self portrait of the painter in hell.

Could his attic felt like a "Hell", or was he ruling an 'under world' all his own? The Abduction of Persephone also greatly mirrors Brahms dire need for a companion with Greta unknowingly playing the part of the unwilling goddess.

Personality Traits of a Scoripo

Strengths: Resourceful, powerful, brave, passionate, a true friend

Weaknesses: Distrusting, jealous, manipulative, violent

Scorpio likes: Truth, facts, being right, talents, teasing, passion

Scorpio dislikes: Dishonesty, revealing secrets, superficiality, small talk

Another basket full of traits I feel really embodies Brahms, especially his weaknesses, the jealousy, manipulative, and violent really jump out at me, as that's what we see most from him in what little we get to see in the movie.

Scorpios in love

Even the caring for the doll was like the introductory test for her supposedly life long care for Brahms. "If she could carefully care for a doll with love, surly she could care for him too", is what I'm sure was going through his mind during the weeks she stayed at the manor

Brahms, was born in 1983, this we Know for sure thanks to his headstone, this puts him in the year of the Pig on the Chinese Zodiac.

The Pig and the Elements

Angelic and childlike, you don't say. lol Well, he does use that to his advantage when dealing with Greta, leading her to believe he was a deceased child's spirit in order to lure out her true self, or her motherly instincts. Something I'm sure he greatly desires in a partner. Can't say he's at all easy going or having much of a forgiveness of others.

Let's see the Pigs Weaknesses

Pigs may be indulgent with themselves and protect their ego by way of inaction, with their compassion leading to emotional turbulence and them resorting to dramatic performances to ensure others will never leave their side.

And there it is... I'm betting Brahms leans heavily to the weaknesses of the Pig more so than the strengths, probably due to his life's situation. Could he be easy going and cheerful once he gets the help he so desperately needs?
